i have no words. i howled the first time i read this, couldn't breathe. he's so unserious, he's a damn menace.

Without a word of complaint, Hua Cheng gently patted the small of Xie Lian's back.

the part where shi wudu is going through his third heavenly tribulation and struggling is so so so funny to me, because ling wen is genuinely trying to get someone to help but they can't find anyone. a entire heaven full of deities and somehow no one's available

mu qing and feng xin are still in baby jail for destroying the streets of the heavenly capital, lang qianqiu is out in the city, qi ying literally has everyone blocked on their spiritual version of messenger, and then they just forgot about xie lian's existence (poor thing), great job everyone~𖹭

i'm sorry, was anyone going to tell me shi qingxuan ordered hua cheng and xie lian to just strip off each others' clothes in a gambling game?? and then he wanted them to turn it into a strip show?? excuse me??

"Your highness and Crimson Rain Sought Flower! I order you to... to strip off each other's clothing!"

and then xie lian actually does it. the absolute mad lad! i definitely did not have that on my bingo card.

i don't know if it counts because xie lian cannot for the life of him stop waxing poetry about hua cheng's looks in every book, but a few pages into book 4 and already:

His long hair was tied up neatly and properly, which was a rare sight. Complimented by a white jade hair accessory, the new style changed his languid appearance into something more spirited. He looked like an extraordinary handsome and intelligent young disciple of some renowned orthodox sect, as intensely eye-catching as always--an emperor simply couldn't look like a beggar, even if you forced him to dress like one.

xie lian good heavens close your mouth you're catching flies. a little more and you'll have to pick a new cultivation path

"elaborate descriptions of beautiful men" has been crossed off the list🎀
