He had his mouth open to say something but came to an abrupt stop when a loud ripping sound occurred. Russel froze in an instant and probably looked like a fool with how he was positioned; arms above his head and his head barely poking out from the collar of the shirt he had been trying to put on. Keyword: trying. 

“Oh no,” Russel muttered, only a little horrified at the prospect of his shirt tearing when he didn’t have an extra on him or in his car. “Oh no...” Slowly, like that even mattered anymore, he tugged the shirt down all the way, and stared at the giant tear that showed a lot of skin.

“Okay, okay, okay, I got the booze, we got the snacks, the blankets, the, uh, show- program, whatever on the right channel- it’s not midnight yet, right?” Russel spoke in a flurry as he rushed over to set the glasses and select bottles of liquor he dug up from the cabinets. “You know, I can’t have too many of.. any of these ‘cause I’m a little bit of a, uh, lightweight, so no judging please.”

“Listen, I know Halloween’s over, but just humor me for a second here because I got these beauties..” His words were drawn out near the end as he took out and wore the sunglasses from a bag. “I wish they had some that were kind of designed to look like bees, but these things are pretty sweet, right?”

“Shut up,” Russel interjected as he fanned his face. It was one thing to take one compliment, but a whole other issue when there were more. “You can’t.. I’m not...” God, was his face red? It certainly felt like his cheeks were burning.

God, this was why he hated it when other people asked his for an opinion on something. He didn’t have it in him to be mean and state his thoughts, but he also couldn’t lie to save his life. So, he just settled on a very awkward scrunch of his face as he stared at the other. “It’s.. not bad?” The obvious climb in pitch didn’t help him feel any less bad, but he offered a shrug as a sort of apology shortly after.
