I always get my best writing inspo when driving, which is super inconvienent! Here I am driving home from my family Christmas and getting these great ideas for book 2 of The Brightest Star in the Sky!

I try voice recording which is super awkward and frankly uninterpretable! I try blindly writing in a notebook on the passenger seat which is illegible and dangerous. Finally I say “fuck it” and pull over on 3 separate occasions off the highway and type haphazardly into my phone satisfy my fucking muse!!!

I am pleased to report that after a 6 hour drive, I have returned home safely with the addition of a 3000 word rather, shall we say, risqué sex scene… what can I say? My muse wants what she wants… ❤️🖤❤️🖤

Okay but even now I'd still like to see a retelling of Harry Potter from Hermione's perspective. Especially because Harry was essentially a kpop idol in the Wizarding World, protected by a very powerful pimp authority figure in their universe, and semi-adopted into a traditional wizarding family, so there was a crew of people falling over themselves to show Harry the ropes of this strange new world.

But Hermione was a full muggle with no connections, no fame, no wizarding money. Her parents were dentists. So how did they take the discovery that their daughter was a witch? How did she find out how to get to platform 9 3/4? How did she get money for the school supplies or even get to Diagon Alley in the first place?! Does the letter for muggleborns come with detailed instructions?

Because, despite everything, by the time Harry meets her she's adapted just fine. In fact, she's surpassed her peers in knowledge and skill, so she clearly was intelligent enough to adapt quickly; but aside from the textbooks, where did she acquire her knowledge of the wizarding everyday life? Did she not struggle with the cultural shock (aside from the house elf thing)? Or she did and we simply never knew because we see everything through Harry's POV and he's kind of a tunnel-visioned dumbass?

Hermione scoffed at Draco and shook her head, her face flushing with heat and turning her cheeks a dusky pink. Her hair, which was tied back and braided, still somehow managed to begin to frizz, little curls peeking out as she stepped closer to him.

The corridor around them had been empty when their argument had begun, but after several minutes of going back and forth it was inevitable that the pair would draw a crowd.

"And I suppose that you've got it right, have you?" Hermione asked, the first half of her sentence coming out as a breathless and humorless laugh. She looked at him with incredulity and something a bit darker as hushed whispers began to make their way around the small group that had formed. "Trusting no one, hating your friends and bullying anyone who doesn't live up to your father's standards? I'm sorry but if that's how the world truly works, I want no part of it!"
