"there you are, dan heng. i hope i'm not bothering you." al'zen steps into the archives, taking a moment to look around. it had certainly changed since dan heng officially started taking charge of it, far more organized than it was before & the books & scrolls that weren't yet digitized set apart in an order alzen didn't want to accidentally mess up.

he found a seat near the vidyadhara, putting all his attention on him. "i heard our akai'ven caused quite a stir at the last meeting." it was an understatement, really, but he didn't feel the need to mention that. "how're you feeling?"

"oh. i heard hunk say something to that degree before, so i thought it would work here too." he lets out a small laugh, shaking his head. "i told you, it's fine. she's kind of right. it's not like i can be much help around here." al'zen takes another breath & the next smile is much happier, "i appreciate your concern, keith, really, but i'm fine. now c'mon, you wanted to go train, right?"

" i fail to see how that's supposed to make me feel better. " he watches the other, eyes sharp, a sense of knowing there was possibly more to this. " if she yells at you like that again, i won't just stay silent. stressed or not, i'm not letting her talk to you like that. "

"keith?" the sudden transmission was a surprise, blinking down at the comms. "what good news? do you even know where we are--?"

"Lance!" The excitement in Keith's tone was almost evident. "Lance, can you hear me?! I'm on my way to the Castle! I have good news!"

a frown pulls at his face, sighing as he all but drapes himself against his mate's back. "alright, talk to me," he huffs, wrapping his arms around vesper's waist. "it's not like you to suddenly agree to an alliance that involves taking in someone. not that i don't trust you or him, of course, but....what's up? i know you. there's a reason you accepted bringing this....dan heng? along. especially when kai's involved."

al'zen's eyes widen, breath hitching as the space between them became nonexistent, as if it was the very first time vesper had so willingly come this close.

"you...." he swallows, hands reaching up to gently curl around vesper's wrists, "you're perfect. you don't need to remember everything perfectly. i told you — that i love you regardless of that. your past life, this one, all of you. so don't worry so much." he leans in, stealing a quick kiss, so chaste, so adoring. "besides, i like trouble."

"i know. you are far from fragile. you've proven this time and time again, but that does not mean i should not still hold you like the precious gem that you are." vesper reaches both hands to frame al'zen's face. he stares into the paladin's eyes and leans forward, pressing their foreheads together. "i just. . . worry that if i don't quite remember something, it might. . . cause more trouble than i already have."

"holy--!" lance jolted, surprised, water splashing up & splattering down onto the floor. he gets his bearings back easily, looking around before finally catching sight of him. "ohhhh, hey, shiro!" he waves at the upside down vision of the other paladin. "you scared the crap outta me! but of course you can join me, uhhh i'm just not sure if there are extra swim trunks around. unless you brought your own?"

                                “it’s been quite some time since you’ve last been on vasuria, yes? i’m glad your voyage here was a safe one — why don’t we get a snack while your things are taken to your room? i – have some things i want to show you.“

                      “it hasn’t been that long!” al’zen laughs from his place in vesper’s arms, gently squeezing before he lets go with a smile, his heart beating so loudly he was sure the other could hear it. “what kind of things?”

"you know, when i said i missed you & wanted to spend more time with you again, this is not what i meant," lance huffed, helping his limping sister toward the single bed. he couldn't call it a safe house, exactly, but he really couldn't be picky when running away from friggin' aliens, even less so when one of them wasn't at one hundred percent. "you sure we're safe here? i think we can stay for the night, but i'd rather not stay too long." they still couldn't get in contact with the others, after all.
