New girl in town 3
“h-hey..” I replied  looking up at Caleb who was standing extremely close.
“What are you doing here?” His face twisted in confusion. “Thought I’d try the local diner since I have no food at home” I say shrugging.
“Well.. I meant alone” he chuckled while sliding into the booth across from me.
I peered around the booth to meet glancing eyes and smirks from the group of guys he sat with before.
“Are those your..brothers?”
My tea was finally cool enough to tempt a first sip.
He leaned back folding his arms across his chest “I guess you could say that”
Once again I could feel my cheeks hot from that stare he gave me.
“They’re my bestfriends, we all grew up together.”
“Oh” was all i could mutter as i lowered my cup
Looking up at Caleb to meet his gaze before quickly looking away.
 “Weird..how similar you look.”
The group of boys mustered their way over to the booth after clearing their plates. “I’m the better looking one” The taller guy says in a sarcastic tone while they start to playfully shove each other.
Caleb seemed less than amused with their jokes as they argued over who was better looking. I could help but watch the train wreck of testosterone in one spot.
(insert waitress coming over to interrupt the commotion and take my food order)

New girl in town 2
Sitting on the bare hardwood floor. I began to rip the tape off of the boxes one by one, while unloading the contents into their proper places. Every item slowly making the new place feel like home to me unlike the place I left behind. After hours of organizing and rearranging the last box is finally emptied. With a sigh of relief while gazing upon the accomplishment. It hits me as my stomach growls, it is one thirty in the afternoon.
Wow. Probably should figure out somewhere to eat.
Remembering there was a small cafe i passed in town on my way here. Making my way out the front door, I make sure to check my surroundings.
No more awkward interactions today. Already made a fool of myself enough.
The woods were silent besides the birds and my breathing. Rushing the short walk to the truck, lugging my tired body into the drivers seat to travel down the long dirt road back into town.
Suddenly the sky grew dark as it began to pour.
Great. Can’t see anything past the windshield.
This is the icing on the cake while navigating a new town. There was a parking spot on the main street. Casually walking inside trying to ignore the fact of being soaked from head to toe. The bell attached to the door gave out a solitary ring. Startling me, I looked up. The place was silent, the few people present now looking at me with strange eyes. My face felt hot with blood. I quickly found a seat in a booth alone.
A lengthy woman approached the booth with a warm smile on her face.
“Got caught in the rain I see, you must be new in town. My name is Faith, her words echoed with warmth in a motherly tone.
“Yeah, I just moved in today” returning a smile quickly.
“Well welcome,” she pulled out her notepad and pen.
“You should start always carrying an umbrella or rain coat with you. We get a lot of rainy days here. Want something hot to drink?”
I look at up at her and take in her softly worn face with big brown eyes,
“some tea please.”
She flashed a smile while turning to walk away in one swoop her long black hair flips about in a pony tail and she tucks away her pen and notepad.
It begins to hit me as I sit there.
I moved. Far away from everyone I know. From all the places with memories. Then I begin to remember my already first memory here. Caleb. How strangely nice he was. My thought was soon interrupted by a cluster of over grown boys barging in through the door of the café and squeezing into a booth on the other side of the place and within perfect view. They are playfully shoving eat other and being loud. My view is interrupted by Faith standing in my view. “Here you go honey” she mutters softly placing my tea in front of me. She wonders off fast to the boys table with a tray full of food at the ready. I notice that all the boys are about the same size and from what I can see they all look like brothers. The one at the end of the booth looks up while taking a bite of a muffin. Oh god. It’s Caleb. I quickly glance down at my tea. He gets up and begins to walk over towards my booth. “Well hello again.” He says while smirking at me.

New girl in town
There has always been something about the way the ocean air feels on my face. The way driving around with all the windows down feels as the sun warms everything it touches as my favorite music plays this combination causing the best feeling to rush over me.Then scenery around me becomes unfamiliar now but it’s comforting. This new place looks picture perfect. The grass seems greener here, what a cliche thought. As the air flows through the windows i can’t help but think it seems fresher and crisper, then again any air is probably cleaner then city air. Taking a deep breath when realizing I’m at the end of the long road trip leading to my fresh start. Leaving behind the long family history and to make a name for myself.  The dust begins to kick up as I turn down the dirt road, almost there. I pull into the driveway proceeding the number 26 mailbox. Climbing out of the truck i feel every ache from the long drive in my bones. I walk up to the front door  neglecting the boxes in the back of the truck. I take in the new sight of home that has this beautiful worn look to it. Slowly I open the door and take a quick look around the emptiness. Turning around I begin the travel back and forth from the truck to the house with boxes.
While grabbing the last box. I feel eyes staring at me from behind. My heart begins to race. I hate being new in town. Somebody must be wondering who I am. I turn around with the box in my arms, attempting to avoid looking up and making eye contact with anything or anyone that could be around me. On the way towards the front door I hear someone shout “hey” towards me as I place my foot up the first step. I slowly placing the box down on the step and turn around to be greeted by a very tall guy with well kept messy short brown hair who is smiling a toothy grin at me.I flash a small and quick smile back. “Hi” I say softly hoping that would be the end of our exchange. I’m too tired to socialize right now but I don’t want a bad impression. I tousle my long hair mostly to one side. “I’m Caleb” he says with a his arms crossed and the toothy grin widely spread across his face. I stick my hands in my jeans pockets out of nervous habits “I’m Annah.”
“Well Annah it is nice to meet you, thought I’d stop over and introduce myself seeing how we’re neighbors” Caleb said half chuckling.
Oh great... I think to myself while analyzing this neighbor of mine. With his sandy brown hair messily kept and blue eyes that go along with the toothy grin permanently glued to his face. Just what I need some pretty boy as a neighbor.
“Well it was nice to meet you” I say quickly while returning to moving the box inside to the house then shutting the door. I peak through the window to witness the confused look on Caleb’s face as he trudges away . Guess that grin isn’t actually glued on. I attempt to focus and continue moving boxes but can’t help but replay the awkward meeting over and over in my head.
