HurtCember2024; Day 23, Bed-Bound
~~~
Tumblr media
"You are not to get out of bed," any other day of the week, that British voice would have been music to your ears. Today, it was the cause of your woes. You'd woken up sick. The perfect way to start a day, isn't it? Not. Especially with your overly cautious girlfriend hovering over you. Her eyes hardly leaving you for even a moment. If you didn't love her as much as you did, you might have seen it as insufferable.
"Cait-" you'd started to say, only for her to raise her hand in a silencing gesture. Eyes narrowed.
"No, absolutely not. Whatever you are about to say, save it. This is not a debate," normally Caitlyn wasn't one to be firm with you. But that soft side went out the window whenever your health got involved. To her, you were something to protect. So alas, she had you bed-bound. And not the fun kind...
"Seriously-? But-" she cut you off again with a hard glare. Yeah, this was not one you were getting out of. Damn it.
"I already called in to your work and got the next few days off for you. Most recoveries only take a couple of days, hopefully yours is the same. If it is not, we may need to consider taking you to the-" this time it was your turn to cut her off.
"You better not say hospital."
"Hospital," she finished with a smirk. Knowing full well that you were not a fan of them. You groaned and turned over onto your back away from her," oh stop pouting. You're not five."
Caitlyn sat herself on the edge of the bed. Her hand reaching over to feel your forehead, you'd gotten warmer since the last time she checked you. At least you hadn't thrown up any time recently... Caitlyn knew she would have to keep an eye on you. Normally it was you taking care of her, now she had the chance to do the same for you. She knew you were strong, but even the strongest needed someone to lean on. Who better than her? Caitlyn just hoped you'd agree with that.
The room was quiet, save for the faint rustle of your clothes as you reached for the delicate vase sitting on the table. It was a beautiful piece, tall and elegant, with intricate designs that looked as though they were crafted by master artisans. But as you brushed past it, the vase tipped over, shattering into a million pieces on the floor.
Your heart skipped a beat as you froze. The last thing you wanted was for Aventurine to get mad—he had a way of making every mistake feel like a much bigger deal than it actually was. Panic surged through you as you knelt down, hastily trying to collect the broken shards, your hands shaking.
"Aventurine’s going to be furious," you muttered under your breath, eyeing the door nervously.
You could hear the faint sound of footsteps approaching, and in a desperate attempt, you grabbed a cloth and wiped at the shards as if they’d disappear. But it was too late—the door creaked open.
Aventurine stood there, a bemused smile on his face, watching you with a glint of amusement in his eyes. “Ah, I see. Trying to play the knight in shining armor and clean up my mess before I even notice,” he said with a soft chuckle.
You straightened up, flustered, clutching the broken pieces in your hand. “I’m so sorry... I didn’t mean to—”
“No need to apologize, [Name],” he interrupted, walking toward you. He gently took the shards from your hand and placed them on the table. “If you were hoping for me to be angry, you’ll be disappointed. I’ve seen worse things happen in my time.”
Aventurine’s smile softened as he gently patted your shoulder. “I’d never be mad over something so... trivial.” His eyes held a hint of warmth beneath the facade of playful charm, and you realized he wasn’t angry at all. He was just... amused, in his own way.
Tumblr media
You stood frozen, eyes wide as the vase tipped over and shattered into pieces on the floor. Your heart raced. This was it—the one thing you couldn’t afford to mess up. Jing Yuan had always been so calm, so collected, and the thought of disappointing him made your chest tighten.
“Oh no, oh no...” you muttered, kneeling down to pick up the broken shards. But the more you tried to clean it, the more scattered the pieces became.
You frantically glanced over your shoulder, hearing Jing Yuan’s calm footsteps growing louder. What would he think? He always seemed so composed, so in control of everything. What if this ruined that image?
But as you rushed to clean, Jing Yuan entered the room, his eyes soft yet full of curiosity. His gaze settled on the mess, and then to you, still frantic, trying to piece everything together.
“[Name],” Jing Yuan’s voice was calm, with an almost amused edge. “What is all this fuss about?”
You stood up quickly, panic still evident in your voice. “I—I’m so sorry! I didn’t mean to—! I’ll fix it, I promise!”
He stepped closer, his gaze not sharp, but understanding. “Relax,” he said softly, his hand resting on your shoulder. “It was an accident. There’s no need to rush around like that. It’s just a vase.”
“But you’ll be mad!” you protested, feeling the weight of your guilt.
Jing Yuan chuckled, a light smile tugging at his lips. “You know me better than that, don’t you? I’d never be angry over something so trivial. Accidents happen, [Name]. Let’s clean this up together, alright?”
You looked at him in surprise, his peaceful demeanor never wavering. There was no anger, only patience.
Tumblr media
The vase shattered with a loud crack, and you froze, your heart hammering in your chest. Argenti was always so composed, so perfect, and the thought of disappointing him made you feel even worse. You quickly scrambled to pick up the broken pieces, hands trembling as you tried to gather them without cutting yourself.
“No... I have to fix this...” you whispered, panic rising in your chest.
You could hear Argenti’s footsteps approaching, and your mind raced. What if he was disappointed? What if he thought you were careless? You couldn’t bear the thought of losing his respect.
“[Name],” Argenti’s voice called softly, almost too gentle for the situation. He stood at the doorway, watching you scramble on the floor with a hint of concern in his eyes. “What’s this?”
You looked up at him, flustered, your face red with embarrassment. “I—I didn’t mean to! I broke the vase, and I thought—” You stopped, biting your lip nervously.
Argenti knelt down beside you, his expression softening. “There’s no need to worry. This is a mere trinket, nothing that will harm anyone. It’s okay.”
He gently placed a hand on your shoulder, steadying you. “Perfection is a pursuit, not an expectation. You’re allowed to make mistakes.”
His words, so simple and sincere, brought a sense of relief. You hadn’t expected him to be so calm. Argenti didn’t judge or scold you—instead, he knelt next to you, helping you clean up the mess with gentle care.
“The beauty of life,” he said softly, “lies in how we handle our mistakes. Together, we’ll restore what was broken.”
And just like that, you realized—no matter the mistake, you’d always have someone to help you put the pieces back together.
Nuisance - Ryomen Sukuna ✧
Synopsis: *Human!Sukuna* While hanging out with your boyfriend, Ryomen, his little brother wanders out of his room.
*Not Proof Read*
A/N: I’ve been wanting to write something about the King of Curses and this prompt came to mind. I hope you guys enjoy it cause I loved writing about baby Yuji. Also, something like this is in the works for Dad!Gojo and Son!Megumi.
Warnings:None
Word Count: 1.5k
Tumblr media
You have been chilling in Ryomen’s room for hours now. Since it was a weekend and you both didn’t have any classes, you found yourself resting in his bed while he played relentlessly on his video game. You had been passing the time by scrolling on your phone, but it became so repetitive, you ultimately gave up on trying to find something interesting to watch. Stretching in Ryo’s bed, you let out a grunt and lifted yourself from his mattress. He didn’t seem to notice your movement as you got up and strolled behind him. He had his headphones on and occasionally he would blurt out some phrase that sounded like gibberish to you.
Quietly, you wrapped your arms around his shoulders, giving him a quick kiss to his cheek, but as you began to walk to the door, you were whipped around and stuck in between Ryomen’s legs. He had taken his headset off and stared up at you with questioning eyes,”Where are you going?” You smirked, leaning down and placing a slow kiss to his lips,”Just down stairs, I’m hungry.” He hummed to your words, kneading the flesh of the back of your thighs,”Can you bring me some water?” Nodding, you gave him one last kiss,”Of course.”
With that he let you go, not without slapping your ass on your way out. You flipped him off playfully, smiling as his deep chuckled echoed out. You headed down the hallway, humming a small song under your breath as you walked to the kitchen. When you first met Ryo, you were expecting his small home to be trashed and flooded with dirty dishes, but to your surprise it was quite the opposite. He had a comfortable two bedroom, one bathroom, house that was practically becoming your second home. You weren’t sure who told him that keeping a fresh home attracts a lady, but it definitely works. He had plenty of good-smelling candles and each section of the home was spotless.
You wandered into the kitchen, opening the cupboards to find his stockpile of snacks. Finally, you found a bag of chips and set them on the counter. Moving to his refrigerator, you smirked at the photo stuck to the front with a magnet. It showed you and Ryomen standing in front of a Christmas light show and you were kissing his cheek. He’s such a softie. Opening the fridge, you frowned at the scarce amount of options. Energy drinks,condiments,barely any sandwich meat and eggs. You really needed to go grocery shopping with him. Shockingly, he had bottled water in the bottom.
As you reached for it, you heard a door open in the back room and assumed Ryomen was finished with his game. You stood, turning with the water in hand, but the person behind you was not Ryomen at all. Well he did look exactly like him, just a lot younger. A little boy that shared Ryomen’s light pink hair and dark hazel eyes. He clearly had just woken up, because his hair was messy and he rubbed his eyes tiredly. Looking up, his eyes shone in pure wonder,”Who are you?”
You giggled, bending down to meet his level, he couldn't be any older than five,”Hey little guy,” you cooed,”I’m Ryomen’s girlfriend. What’s your name?” He pointed to himself,”I’m Yuji,” then pointed back to you,”You’re the one my older brother keeps talking about.” You raised your brows in interest,”He does? Well what does he say?” The little boy beamed at your question,”He says you’re really pretty.”
You giggled at his words,”Aw, that’s sweet of him.” He nodded along, then let out a yawn. You tilted your head, very happy to be talking to Ryomen’s adorable little brother,”Did you just wake up?” He let out a cute ‘mhm’ and you glanced at the hallway,”How come Ryomen hasn’t told me anything about you?” He gave a small shrug,”I don’t know,” You stood to your full height and gestured to the hall,”Well do you wanna go say hi to him?”
He nodded excitedly and just as you were about to lead the way, Yuji lifted both of his hands, making a small grabbing motion. You were sure this boy was going to be the death of you. Not wanting to let him down, you grabbed under his armpit, and lifted him off the ground. Setting him on your hip, you examined his features,”Aren’t you the cutest thing.” You booped his nose and he let out a small giggle,”When Ryo told me about you, I knew you were a good person.”
You smiled,”Thank you Yuji, I think you’re a good person too.” You ruffled his fluffy hair and Yuji clung to your shoulder, hugging you tightly. He’s kinda like a koala. You carried the boy to Ryomen’s door, completely forgetting the items you were supposed to bring back. Turning the handle, you stood in the doorway, pausing to put a finger to your lips and face Yuji. He gave a nod of understanding and you faced Ryomen, who was still playing his game.
“Ryo,” You called, making the man pause his game and begin to turn in his chair. As he removed his headphones,he had a small smile on his face,”I was wondering when you would get back-“ His smile dropped at the sight before him,”Where do you find him?” You rolled your eyes, setting the boy down,”You’re acting like he’s a stray.” Yuji ran right to his brother and climbed onto his lap. While Ryomen looks upset, he still allowed Yuji to stand on his thigh and stare in awe at his game’s visuals.
“He was supposed to be sleeping.” Ryomen claimed, you nodded,”Yeah, he walked out when I was grabbing the stuff and said some things.” He raised a brow, glancing at his little brother,”Like what?” There was a bit of annoyance in his tone, but you walked over, waving his suspension away,”Nothing bad, but how come I’ve never heard of this cutie?”
He scoffed, crossing his arms,”He’s anything but cute. His face is so annoying.” You raised a brow,”You guys have the exact same face.” He rolled his eyes,”Quit lying.” You giggled quietly, loving how moody the man was. Ryomen poked the boy's side, making him squeal,”I have told you about him, he’s just never around when you’re here.” You frowned,”Aw, that means I won’t be able to see him often.” Ryomen sighed,”Our parents are off on vacation and they didn’t want to pay for a babysitter so they dropped him off here,”
Yuji climbed down from Ryomen’s legs and grabbed your hand, pulling you down to the floor,”But what about during the weekdays? You don’t leave him here do you?” Ryomen gave you an unimpressed look,”No. of course I don’t. There’s a preschool close to here and I just drop him off before I go to class.” You hummed to his words, liking his response,”You’re pretty responsible Ryo.”
“Obviously. He’s my little brother.” You looked up at him with a small pout as Yuji played with your hair curiously. Ryomen scrunched his face,”Don’t look at me like that.” He motioned to the little boy who was crawling into your lap,”Our mom would kill me if I didn’t take care of that nuisance.” You gasped, collecting Yuji in your arms protectively,”He is not a nuisance. He’s a little angel.”
The man shook his head, turning back to his game,”Maybe to you.” You glared at the back of Ryomen’s head, then turned down to the boy in your arms,”He’s just jealous Yuji.” Though Ryomen acted like he didn’t care, he side-eyed the two of you, smiling to himself as you continued to entertain his younger brother.
The day carried on, sun falling past the horizon and that night you all had pasta, much to Yuji’s request. You all got ready for bed, letting Yuji use your moisturizer as he watched you in amazement. Ryomen picked up his brother once you were finished with your routine and the two of you walked to Yuji’s room. Unfortunately, when Ryomen opened the door, Yuji let out a pitiful whine and nuzzled himself closer into Ryomen’s chest. Your eyebrows crease and you pet his hair comfortingly.
Your boyfriend exhaled,walking into the room,”Come on Yuji, you gotta go to bed.” He let out a sound of disagreement and moved from his arms, reaching out for yours. Folding instantly, you took him from his brother, smiling as the little boy cuddled you. Ryomen stood there, a disappointed look on his face as he watched Yuji. You held him tightly, staring at Ryo with pleading eyes,”Please can he stay with us?”
His brow furrowed, but he ultimately gave into your puppy eyes,”Fine, but just this once. Never again.” You walked over, kissing him softly,”Thank you, Ryo.” It wasn’t a shocker when Yuji slept in your guy's bed, sleeping peacefully between your bodies.
sleepless nights | bucky barnes x fem!reader
description: y/n has a nightmare and bucky comforts her in the night.
trigger warnings: anxiety, fear, fluff, mentions of alcohol usage, some seductive behavior, etc. read at your own risk.
word count: 1k
A hazy image took place beneath your closed lids as you tossed and turned beneath the bedsheets. You felt your body yearning to waken, to get rid of the terrifying picture that was before you.
You sucked in a breath and fluttered your eyes open. Breathing heavily, you looked into the darkness of your shared room with Bucky in the Compound. You turned over, as slowly as your body allowed, and faced him.
Desiring nothing more than to be close to him, you nestled into his side, beneath his metal arm. It exuded a coolness that eased the tension in your shoulders and throughout your entire body.
The previous night, you'd had a few more glasses of wine than you'd care to admit. It was the holidays, after all. It made sense to have a couple extra drinks. You hated to admit it, but alcohol always affected your sleep; in a negative way... bad dreams, restless sleep, etc.
Bucky's chest rose and fell against your cheek as you clung to him tightly. You didn't realize he was awake until you heard his gruff voice whisper into the dark.
"You alright, sweetheart?"
Shaking your head, you wrapped your arms around his torso tighter—as though you couldn't get close enough. Bucky pressed a warm kiss to the top of your head and ran his fingers through the tangled mess of your hair.
"You wanna talk about it?" he asked, dipping his chin down to speak more intimately to you.
"I don't think so," you replied, your voice gravelly.
"Okay," Bucky nodded and engulfed you further into his grasp.
The gesture was simple, yes. But it sent a warm shiver down your spine, leaving gooseflesh across your exposed skin. The rhythmic rise and fall of his chest eased your discomfort; the hazy picture of your dream slowly fading into nothingness.
"You want some tea or hot chocolate?" Bucky inquired. He was always the acts of service type of guy, which you appreciated.
"I don't wanna be alone," you lifted your head to stare up at him. He turned his head down to meet your gaze, taking note of the glassiness of your eyes.
"You can come with me, sweetheart," Bucky's lips pressed against your cheek, sending a rush of warmth from that spot to every other inch of your body.
"Okay," you nodded, sleepily as Bucky peeled the duvet back. He climbed out of the bed and came around to your side. He stared down at you lovingly, tracing his fingertips across the shell of your ear.
"You gotta get up if you wanna come with me, doll," he sat against the edge of the bed and pressed a lingering kiss to your neck. You closed your eyes and basked in the sensation.
"Mhm," you hummed and wrapped your arms around his neck, hugging him warmly. He released a soft breath and wrapped his arms around your waist, pulling you up onto his lap.
"C'mon," he whispered and pushed himself off the mattress, still holding you snugly. Your legs wrapped around his waist as he carried you through the halls of the Compound, towards the kitchen.
"My girl.." Bucky whispered into your ear, pressing a tender kiss to the skin just below it. Your arms, draped around his shoulders, held onto him tightly; your cheek resting against the metal of his arm exposed there.
Before you knew it, Bucky entered the large kitchen and set you against the cold marble countertop. His arms were placed on either side of you, enclosing you in. His cerulean eyes gazed into you, his metallic fingers tracing your exposed thigh.
"What can I get you?" he whispered, leaning in to place another kiss to your cheek. Before you could respond, he placed another one to the hollow of your throat. You sucked in a soft breath, so soft you almost didn't feel it until Bucky pointed it out. "I felt that, sweetheart," he grinned that stupid, handsome grin.
"I want tea," you whispered and cupped his face, forcing him to look at you. His jawline was stubbled from not shaving for a few days. You loved the way it felt against your fingers and beneath the palms of your hands. You also had a thing for the way it felt between your thi—
"What kind?" Bucky asked, gazing at you with so much amorance.
"Chai," you whispered, your toes curling beneath his stare.
His lips curled into an almost feline smile, as if knowing exactly what was going on in that head of yours. He peeled away from the counter and quickly made your tea the way he knew you liked.
The mug was steaming when he handed it to you. You took it with care, not wanting to spill it anywhere on yourself, on the counter, or on him.
Bucky pushed himself up onto the marble to sit beside you. He listened to you sip your drink and the both of you reveled in the stillness between you.
He was just... there. With you.
Because that's what he knew you needed.
It wasn't long before you finished your tea, it was soothing against your tongue and down your throat. It rid the cold sweat that glazed your entire body.
"All done?" Bucky questioned softly. You nodded and handed him the empty mug. He slipped off the counter and rested it into the sink, to take care of in the morning. He turned to face you fully and cupped your face, pressing a tender kiss against your lips.
You eased into the gesture and draped your arms around his neck, eyes closing slowly.
Once he pulled back, he lifted you into his arms and carried you back up to your shared bedroom. When he laid you down into the bed and climbed into his side, Bucky's arms engulfed you in a warm and tight embrace. You fell asleep entangled with him and didn't have another nightmare that evening
.
So sweet 😭😭😭😭😭😭
Stronger || Logan Howlett x Reader
summary: after failing your last mission you start to over train yourself in secret but Logan notices the bruises and cuts and wont leave you alone about it.
warnings: angst to fluff, patching up fic, the reader is very hard on themselves, injury, blood, insecurity, sweet logan, reader pushes themself too much.
a/n: I had this idea at like 1:30am last night and I wrote it when i woke up oops. I just love fluffy patching up logan fics what can I say.
Tumblr media
There it is again. Logan's nose twitches as you walk by. You smell like dirt and sweat but most of all blood. He locks eyes with you as you walk past the kitchen door.
Theres a limp in your step. It's subtle but there. You're wearing long pants and long sleeves despite it being hot outside and you're hiding your hands in your pockets. There's bags under your eyes and the smiles you give people aren't real.
Logan narrows his eyes at you and you look at the ground. Hurrying away from his pointed gaze. He wants to go after you but he hears your door slam and lock.
No one else has picked up on this except for him. He brings it up in passing but he's brushed off every time. Something is up with you and he's going to figure out what.
You sigh as you lean against your door. Your body aches like crazy and all you want to do is collapse onto the bed and sleep. But you force yourself to the bathroom. You need to scrub off all the evidence of everything from the night before. The blood and grime washed off but the bruises stayed.
"Damn." You mumbled as you took in the injuries from this time.
The person displayed in the mirror looked like a stranger. Your eyes were sunken, bruises on your body, you looked tired and felt worse. But you had to keep going. You needed to be strong, to prove yourself and this was the only way.
At least that's what you think. You crawl into bed and pass out the moment your head hits the pillows. Unfortunately the nightmares start then too.
You're back on your last mission. The whole reason you've been pushing yourself so hard. You were weak, lost, a burden to the team. You weren't like everyone else at the mansion. You didn't come here as a kid.
In fact you were well into your adult life when Professor Xavier found you. You had no training, no experience. You got stuck into classes with kids who had already mastered their powers. You felt silly, a fool to think you could be apart of this world. You didn't belong.
So when you got the chance to go on a mission you were excited. It means they thought you were ready, that you had something in you that could help.
The mission went terribly. You were overwhelmed and could barely keep up. Tackled to the ground you cried out in pain. A sharp blade against your neck caused you to freeze. You tried to conjure your energy blasts but a foot on your wrist stopped you. It was digging into you, crushing you. You closed your eyes as you braced yourself for what was to come.
It never does.
The pressure is released all at once as Logan tackled the man who was on you. Digging his claws into him until he's limp on the ground. He runs to you, checking you injuries. You couldn't speak. You couldn't warn Logan that someone else was coming. Then it all goes black. You're too late.
You sit up, Logan's name on the tip of your tongue as you wake up. Fuck. You take in your surroundings and try to calm down. Slowly sinking back into your bed. Reminding yourself that everything fine.
That the last mission didn't really end that way. Logan is okay, you're okay. But what if things had played out different.
If you could have held your own then Logan wouldn't have had to come to your rescue. He carried you back to the jet and while everyone was nice, you knew that you disappointed them.
You haven't been asked to go on a mission since. It hurt, you wanted to go. To be apart of the team. So you took it upon yourself to train. Your powers were trained in lessons with the professor but he never lets you go past a certain limit. So instead you decided to sneak out at night to the nearby forest and train there.
Honing not only your powers but your hand to hand combat as well. Trees were your only partners but it worked. They were strong and sturdy. Every night you'd sneak out. Practice with your powers which drained you and then practiced everything else after. It left you bloody and bruised but in your mind it was worth it.
Glancing at the clock you see that you've slept through most of the day. The sun had already set. Quietly you get dressed and sneak down the hallways. Most everyone was already in bed and if they weren't they were socializing in the living room. All you had to do was sneak by and you were home free for the night.
Laughter is the perfect distraction as you sneak past the doorway. Opening the door slowly and sneaking outside, running to the safety of the woods. What you don't notice is someone following you.
Logan caught your scent the second you stepped out of your room. Whether he wants to admit it or not he's always searching for you. He smelled your shampoo wafting past the door and eyed you outside. You were quick but he could still see you. Enough of this. Whatever the hell you were doing was killing you. Slowly but surely it was ruining you physically and mentally. He slipped away from the rest of the people in the living room and followed you.
As he got deeper in the woods he became worried, just what could you be doing out here? His ears perk up as he hears you. Peaking through the trees he finds you in a small clearing. You were clearly exhausted but you kept pushing. Creating energy from your finger tips and blasting them at a tall redwood.
Logan smells the blood that trickled from your nose. You were pushing yourself too hard. He's about to reveal himself when the loud creaking of a branch stops him.
You were too wrapped up in conjuring another blast that you don't notice a large tree branch cracking from the force of your powers. Logan springs in to action.
"Watch out!" He growls as he launches himself at you. Grabbing your body and wrapping himself around you the best he can. The branch falls right onto his back. It snaps in two as it falls to either side of you.
"Logan?! What are you doing here?" You ask as you stare at the fallen branch. Kicking yourself for not noticing it fast enough forcing Logan to put himself in danger for you again.
"What am I doing here? What the fuck are you doing out here?" He yells as he lets you go. Taking in just how bad you looked.
"What the hell is wrong with you? What if I wasn't here? What if that branch fell and hit you and no one would know that you were bleeding out in the fucking woods!" Logan snarls. His fear and worry being masked by anger. How could you be so reckless? So stupid?
"I didn't ask you to fucking follow me!" You bite back. Shame creeping up as he scolds you. Logan scoffs and grabs your face firmly.
"Do you even see yourself right now?" He grabs your wrist and holds it up. Staring at your bloody knuckles. It fucking hurts. It hurts for him to see you like this and it hurts him that you were doing this to yourself.
“You're tearing yourself apart, why?" The anger starts to fade, his real feelings breaking through.
"Because I'm weak." You admit, your voice cracking as the adrenaline starts to drain. Instead being replaced but complete and utter exhaustion.
"What?" Logan asks in disbelief.
"I failed the last mission, I could have gotten you hurt, I was a liability. If I got stronger, If I was better."
"Stop. Just stop. You really think all that?" Logan has let go of you by now, his eyes are looking at all your bruises. All the damage you've done to yourself.
"You don't?" You ask, afraid of his answer.
He doesn't say a word. Instead he takes your holds your hand, you try to ignore the butterflies growing in your stomach as he leads you back to the mansion. Taking you up to his room where he pulls out a first aid kit.
He doesn't need one but every room has one, of course you had already used up all of yours. Silently he patches you up, wrapping your knuckles in bandages and wiping up the blood from your nose.
"If you wanted train you could have come to one of us, to me." He should have noticed sooner, said something. Stopped you from doing this to yourself.
"I thought I had to do it on my own."
"You don't. It took me a while to figure it out too but you don't." He would be a hypocrite to scold you for going off alone but he doesn't really care.
"I'm sorry." You mumble. Logan cups your face and to your shock kisses your forehead gently.
"Don't ever do this again do you hear me." Logan can help you, he can protect you.
"I won't." You promise him. He smiles and picks you up.
"Logan!" You yelp as he drops you into his bed.
It smells just like him and you can't deny the instant comfort that comes over you as you snuggle into his sheets.
"You're going to rest for the next week. Anything you need you just call alright?"
"But what-" He stares at you and you stop talking, he wasn't fucking around about this.
"When you're healed and rested. Then we can train together." He doesn't leave room for argument, not that you wanted to argue with him anyways but still.
"Thank you Logan...You didn't have to do this."
He could have turned his head, pretended he never saw anything. Its what you expected him to do if you were being honest. But he didn't. He saw you struggling, pushing yourself and he couldn't let you hurt yourself any longer. He cared about you, a lot.
"I know." He says simply.
"Will you stay, while I sleep. I've been getting these nightmares and well..." Logan nods his head.
He shuts off the lights and crawls into bed with you. Kind of, more like he's half hanging off the edge of the bed. But you're comfortable and that's good enough for him.
It doesn't take long for you to fall asleep. The comforting aura of Logan was enough. He hums as you curl closer to him. Logan chasing away any nightmares that threaten to hurt you and for the first time in a while your dreams are quiet.
A smile on your face as peace finally overcomes your dreams.
Hey hun! Can you do a halstead sister? She goes to 51 after going to classes (college) or maybe a friends. I go into SVT( basically really high heart rate) and she has a really bad episode at the firehouse and gets rushed to med. maybe Connor makes a. Appearance
Skip a beat- Halstead!sister
To say that the day had been rough was an understatement. It was finals week since the fall term was ending. Christmas was right around the corner, so on top of your exams and papers, you were making presents for Jay, Will, and a few of your friends from the 21st, 51, and med. You’d often hang at 51 after classes if you were too tired to walk home. Jay and Will both agreed that you shouldn’t drive with your regular episodes of SVT, so you usually had to wait for Jay, Will, Matt, or Kelly to take you home if you ended up at 51. Today was one of those days.
When you walked into 51, Kelly immediately stood up from the squad table, abandoning the tools he was cleaning. The rest of squad was at the table, but they simply waved. Your “uncle” came to pull you into a tight hug.
“Hey kiddo.” Kelly said, smiling brightly as he looked you over. “I’ve been expecting you! Your watch kept alerting us to your heart rate today. What’s going on?” Kelly asked, tucking you under his arm as he steered you into the common area of 51.
“Finals.” Was all you mumbled, leaning into Kelly’s strong grip. You soaked up all the heat you could get from him, needing the physical contact and comfort of his warmth after the day you had.
Kelly hummed as Mouch piped up from the couch. “I don’t miss those days!” He said, shaking his head.
“You probably don’t remember anything you learned from that long ago, grandpa.” Gallo joked from the kitchen, pointing the spatula right at Mouch. Gallo wiggled his eyebrows and smiled widely as Mouch turned his attention to the kitchen.
“You keep it up Gallo. Don’t forget who my wife is, let alone who one of my best friends is.” Mouch said, threatening him with the wrath of Trudy and Boden.
Gallo blanched, but tried to play it off like he didn’t care. He shrugged and looked at the pan in front of him, flipping the grilled cheese he was making before looking back at you and Kelly. “Matt’s in his office.” He said, smiling at you before returning to his cooking.
You looked around and waved at everyone as you walked past with Kelly. Sylvie and Violet were in the bunks, having gotten tired of the antics from truck and engine. They both popped up to pull you into a hug as you stepped into the bunk room with Kelly.
“Hey girl!” Sylvie exclaimed as she pulled you into a hug. “It’s been a while!”
Violet got to you next and smiled brightly as you both pulled away. “Yeah! What’s new?” She asked, looking you over as she noticed how pale you were and how much you were leaning into whoever was holding you.
“Finals and Christmas stuff. Gotta love the holidays.” You said, shrugging your shoulders lightly and gently pulling on Kelly. “Uncle Kel, can I go lay down in Matty’s office for a bit?” You whispered, one hand fisted into the back of his squad jacket while the other held his arm close to your body. You didn’t want to alert the medics that you were feeling extremely weak, but Kelly figured that would be the case with the three separate SVT alerts he had gotten today.
Kelly nodded and smiled at the medics before pulling you away and to Matt’s office. He knocked on the door and waited until Casey pulled his face out of the files of paper work on his desk to open the door. “Special delivery for Matty.” Kelly joked lightheartedly, but gave Matt a look they shared all too often lately.
Matt smiled warmly as you unceremoniously plopped down into his lap. “Well hey there kiddo.” Matt greeted, rubbing his hand up and down your back while checking your pulse with the other. “Rough day?” Matt asked, though he already knew the answer. Just like Kelly, Matt had gotten the same notification. He assumed you would be here and already had Kidd lined up to take over truck while you were in house.
You nodded, placing your head on Matt’s shoulder. You were always a physical touch person, but more so when you didn’t feel well. You'd find one of your brothers or uncles and plopped into their lap, soaking up their warmth as you lay your head on their shoulder. Nobody was surprised anymore after you’ve been doing this for years.
Matt nodded back, looking to Kelly as both of their phones chimed. Matt could feel your heart rate suddenly increase under the finger tips he had pressed to your neck. Sweat was building up where your forehead met Matt’s neck as you curled forward with a tiny gasp.
“What’s wrong?” Kelly asked, kneeling to be eye level with you. They could see that your heart rate was high, but you don’t normally react like that.
You dug a hand into your chest as you curled a little bit further forward. “I-it hurts. L-like my heart it, it’s fluttering, but there’s th-this pain.” You grunted, reaching your free hand out to grab onto Matt’s open one.
Kelly nodded, looking at Matt again. Matt mouthed “get Brett.” They didn’t want to scare you, but Matt could feel the way you were shaking against him, drawing in ragged breaths with your eyes squeezed shut. This wasn’t normal for you. The last time this happened, you ended up in the hospital. It was years ago, around the time your dad died. Matt racked his brain for more details while Kelly pulled the door open and stepped out to grab the two girls in the bunk room.
You whimpered as the pain got worse. Matt shushed you and grabbed your hand, leaning it toward him so that he could check your heart rate on your watch. It was steadily climbing. 180.184.186. Every second that went by, the higher your heart rate seemed to climb.
Sylvie slipped into the room as Kelly held the door open and stood in the doorway, not wanting to crowd you since Violet was still coming back with the crash kit. “Hey girly. What’s going on? Hmm?” Sylvie asked, taking your hand from Matt to peek at the watch herself. She looked at the watch and then at Matt with the question clear in her eyes, and Matt just nodded, confirming that the reading was accurate as he rested two fingers on the pulse point in your neck once again.
“H-hurts.” You grunted out, squirming in Matt’s lap, tears involuntarily slipping down your face as you tried bearing down like Conner had taught you.
Sylvie nodded as Violet came into the room. “Okay sweetie. Let’s have Matt lay you on his bunk, okay?” She said, standing up and taking a few steps back to let Matt move. As he did, Sylvie leaned back to talk to Kelly. “Go tell Boden to take us out of commission. I don’t like this.” She whispered as she watched Matt lay you down and immediately start helping Violet get you sorted.
Kelly nodded and walked toward the chief’s office. He didn’t want to leave you, but you were in the best hands and he needed a task to do anyways. He isn’t one for standing around during an emergency, especially when it comes to family.
Once Kelly was gone, Sylvie put her stethoscope on and stepped toward the side of the bed that Matt was on. “Alright. Let’s take a listen.” Sylvie said, sliding into the space Matt evacuated for her. She listened and made sure to school her face as she heard your heart skipping beats. She calmly took the stethoscope from her ears and put it around her neck as she glanced at the monitors Violet had you on. “Definitely hearing some palpitations. I saw her attempting a vagal maneuver earlier.” Brett told Violet. “We are going to have to medicate and get her to med. Matt, I need you to call Jay and Will.” Sylvie said, as she looked for the medicine in the crash kit.
“61 to main.” Violet said into her radio as she charted your vitals.
“Go ahead 61.” The dispatcher responded.
“We are transferring a patient from 51. 26 year old female in SVT. Heading to Med.” Violet responded, waiting for the all clear before switching channels. “61 to Med.” Violet said, watching as Matt nodded when he got off the phone with Will.
“Go ahead 61.” Maggie responded.
“Maggie. We’ve got Y/n Halstead here at 51 getting ready for transport. Matt called Will. She’s had multiple episodes of SVT and is currently in another. Vagal maneuver did nothing. Brett is pushing meds and then we will transport once she is stable.” Violet relayed, looking up as Kelly walked in with Boden on his heels.
“Copy that 61. We will have Conner on standby. We’ll be ready for little Halstead. Med out.” Maggie said.
Boden stepped in and surveyed the scene. “We heard the dispatch. How yah doin kiddo?” Boden asked, squeezing your foot.
You shakily tilted your hand back and forth, trying to force your eyes to stay open as Brett and Violet moved in tandem around you. You heard Matt mumbling to someone on the phone, but you were fighting to stay conscious. Suddenly, you could hear a loud beeping as many people called your name.
———————
When you woke up, your hands were held by someone on each side. You heard three different voices as the world started coming back into view. You groaned, drawing the attention to yourself.
“Hey kiddo. It’s alright.” Will whispered, standing from his chair to lean over you. You peeled your eyes open and looked up at your oldest brother, relishing in the comfort of his presence.
“Mmm. W-what happened?” You whisper, mouth feeling dry.
Jay stood and took the cup that Conner passed him from the table at the end of your bed. He eased the straw past your cracked lips and let you take a few sips before he pulled away. When you whined, he chuckled. “I know. Don’t want you making yourself sick. Gotta take it slow.” Jay placated, placing the water back on the table as he switched places with Conner.
“You gave us quite the scare young lady.” Conner said, getting his stethoscope out and taking a listen to your heart. “Much better now though. No flutter or anything.” Conner said, running a hand through your hair fondly. “You were at 51 and had a serious episode of SVT. Sylvie and Matt had to do compression when your heart stopped suddenly. They medicated and sedated you to tube you. We needed to let your heart rest for a little while, so we just recently weened you off the sedation and the vent.” Conner explained, stepping back to give Jay his spot back.
“I-I died?” You asked, eyes wide with fear. You looked between the three men as they all looked at each other. Finally, Jay spoke up.
“Yes, but only for a couple minutes. Violet was quick with the meds and Brett had you tubed and back in no time.” Jay soothed, clutching your hand in his.
“How l-long?” You asked Conner. “H-how long w-was I out?” You asked, wondering if you missed the holidays.
Conner smiled, squeezing your foot once more. “Don’t worry. It was only for 48 hours.” Conner soothed.
“Before you ask, your exam for your last class was waved and they are using the mean score of all your exams from the semester. We also brought your Christmas presents for you to keep you occupied and so you could finish them while you are resting here for the next 48 hours.” Will said, pulling the bag out and placing it at the foot of your bed. “We want to keep an eye on you. We already have a rotating schedule so that your never alone, and I can pop in during my shift tomorrow.” Will supplied, kissing the back of your hand as you settled.
You knew better to fight them, but you were also grateful to be here and alive. You felt safer being watched for a few more days, even though you hate hospitals as much as Jay. At least you’d have people by your side and plenty of presents to finish making to keep you occupied.
Everyone knew that Saiki was not a dependent person. He was the furthest thing from it. He loved his alone time- actually scratch that. He craved alone time. It was just his luck that he was always surrounded by people that caused him so much mental pain. To Saiki’s surprise, he had found someone he tolerated. Well it was more than that, but you guys were just friends, so he couldn’t say anything. He realized you were the only one that didn’t put Saiki through a problem which he had to solve. There were no long adventures when you talked to him in the halls. No using his powers to fix something you had done. He was able to act perfectly normal around you. Which is why he grew such an affection toward you. He grew so comfortable that he told you about his abilities and like he expected you took it well.
Today was one of his favorite days. Where he was able to hang around your home without a care in the world. Whatever his friends were up to outside of your house was not Saiki’s business, nor did he care about it. He had developed a routine when you text him to come over. He would arrive at your house, wear his germanium ring and let his worries wash away. It was the closest thing he could get to being a normal teenager and he was damn sure going to use his time wisely. Whenever Saiki stayed at your home, you would ask to do something, nothing crazy. Something simple like baking a batch of cookies, watching a movie on the couch, or if you were very bored, you would ask to do Saiki’s hair, which he never denied. Because, well, it was you. How could he say no?
Today was a bit different. You had mentioned you needed to run some errands and you promised you would back around noon. Saiki was fine with this since it meant he would have the house to himself. You trusted him greatly so you didn’t mind if he stuck around while you were out. When you left he gave a small nod and then the house was silent. Today was very different because something felt off. He had been reading a book on your shelf out of interest, but for the past five minutes, he had been rereading the same sentence over and over. Something was tugging in his head, but he wasn’t sure what was wrong.
Today was different because he felt so off without you in the same room as him. He checked the clock, realizing I had only been an hour and a half since you left. You wouldn’t be back until later, so Saiki had to find something to distract himself. Today was different because tried to cure his “boredom” with his powers. He turned on your kitchen sink, watching blankly as he made shapes and animals out of the liquid. When that didn’t stop the tugging, he moved onto your room. He felt slightly better resting on your bed and he played it off as being tired, but no. When he kept checking the clock to see if it was any closer to noon, he came to the horrifying conclusion that he missed you.
It was such a foreign feeling. Saiki? Wanting someone to be around him? Well that’s what happens when you sneak your way into his heart. The psychic couldn’t stand it anymore and grabbed his phone, clicking on your contact and placing the device to his ear. The small buzzing reached his ear and he felt a small fragment of relief when you answered after the second ring.
“Hey Saiki, what’s up?”
He sighed, a bit humiliated he felt this way.
“Nothing.”
“Then did you need something?”
“When are you going to be home?”
He said home like he lived here with you, but if you minded, you didn’t make it obvious.
“I should be there in maybe three hours.”
That did not help.
“Can you get here sooner?”
“Why? Is something wrong?”
“Yes.”
Might as well since there isn’t anything else getting you here faster. Saiki thought.
A small gasp sounded through the speaker, “I thought you said nothing was happening?”
“Just get here fast.”
And with that he hung up the phone.
You raced to your house, hoping you wouldn’t find it in ashes or hit by a tornado. Maybe you were being dramatic, but why would Saiki call you and tell you to come home quickly? It was shocking that you didn’t get pulled over at the pace you were driving home. When you pulled onto your street, you were thankful to not see any smoke, but that didn’t make you slow down. You slammed to a stop in your driveway, panic flooding your veins. You unlocked your door at lightning speed and the second it was open, you called out,”I’m here! What happened?!”
You shut the door behind you, scanning for some sort of danger, but you find your house was still intact. You were so confused. You were expecting some sort of freak accident with Saiki’s powers, but everything was in place.
“Nothing wrong.”
You whipped around, finding Saiki had teleported behind you. You blinked in confusion,”What are you talking about? You told me to get here quick and I-“ “I lied.” Your arms dropped at your side in defeat,”Then why am I here right now?” He gave you an emotionless stare,”Because I wanted you to be.”
Still in shock, you looked around, finding a scattered book on your couch. It was odd because Saiki is always the one to be neat. You turned to the boy, noticing how he was hardly making eye contact with you and he clearly wanted to say more. You recalled his words over the phone, then it all clicked.
“Saiki,” your words were barely above a whisper,”Did you miss me?”
The things that happened next were a blur. In the blink of an eye two arms were wrapping around you and you could feel Saiki’s head in the crook of your neck. He didn’t respond to your question, but this was enough to answer it. Honestly, you were a bit nervous. Was this really the same Saiki? The one who barely let people stand close to him, was holding onto you like a lifeline. You felt a long sigh escape his lips and instinctively you reached one hand up to rest in his pink hair and the other embracing him over his shoulder.
“I didn’t know how else to get you here.” He confessed gently, making your heart melt,”You could have just asked, Kusuo.” He tucked himself more into your neck, almost hiding his face from you,”But you were busy.” You rolled your eyes, “It was just getting groceries, I would have dropped everything if I knew you wanted me here.”
Saiki didn’t know how to respond, instead he used his teleportation to take you both to your room. You let out a grunt as you back hit your mattress, but your attention changed to the boy resting on you. He looked so at peace and you couldn’t believe this was still the same person. (It’s not like you were complaining.) As you softly played with his pink hair, a small idea popped into your head. Maybe I should go out more often if this is what I get to come home too…
The day had been long, drawn out, and suffocating. You’d fought to keep the façade up, pretending to be okay as the weight of the world pressed down on you at work. No one knew the toll it was taking, and you certainly didn’t want to burden anyone with your emotions. So, you swallowed everything—every frustration, every bit of self-doubt—and forced a smile, hiding the cracks that were slowly growing wider inside you.
The moment you stepped into your apartment, you let out a shaky breath. The silence was almost unbearable, but it was familiar. You needed it—needed to be alone. But as you closed the door behind you, you couldn’t shake the feeling that something was wrong.
The soft click of your door was followed by the quiet swish of fabric—the unmistakable sound of Aventurine’s presence. You turned, startled, to find him leaning casually against the doorframe, eyes scanning you with that unblinking, almost predatory gaze he wore so well.
"Long day?" His voice was smooth, calm, but there was something in the air that told you he knew something was off. He’d always been observant, reading between the lines with an almost unsettling accuracy. His eyes narrowed slightly as he studied you.
You forced a smile. "Just tired," you murmured, taking a few slow steps forward to set down your things. The walls you’d built up during the day were starting to crumble, but you refused to let him see it. He didn’t need to know that you’d barely been holding it together.
Aventurine didn’t speak right away. Instead, he moved closer, the soft sound of his footsteps echoing in the quiet room. There was a flicker in his eyes, something sharp and calculating, but also... something else. Concern? You weren’t sure, but it sent a chill down your spine.
"You’re lying," he said simply. "And I don't like being lied to."
You winced, the weight of his words landing harder than you expected. "I’m fine, Aventurine. Really. Just a lot on my plate."
He didn’t believe you, of course. But it was the way he approached it—slow, deliberate steps, like he was a predator sizing up his prey—that made you feel vulnerable. And when he reached you, he tilted his head slightly, his earring catching the light as his expression softened, just for a moment.
"You don't have to hide it from me, you know," he said, his voice quieter now, less theatrical and more... genuine? You weren’t sure, but something in his tone made you pause.
"I’m fine," you repeated, your voice unsteady. You didn’t know why, but the words felt so hollow, like they were no longer yours. Your hand clenched around your sleeve, and before you knew it, your breath hitched. You tried to steady yourself, but it was no use.
Aventurine’s eyes flickered with recognition. He was too sharp—he’d seen the signs before. Without another word, he reached out and gently cupped your cheek, his thumb brushing over the delicate skin as he stared into your eyes. His gaze softened, a fleeting vulnerability hidden beneath the layers of his usually confident mask.
"You don't have to be strong all the time," he murmured, his voice unusually tender. "It's okay to break down. It's okay to cry."
The words hit you harder than expected, breaking through the dam you’d so carefully constructed. Before you could stop yourself, tears began to well up in your eyes, spilling down your cheeks. You couldn't hold it back anymore. The exhaustion, the frustration, the overwhelming sense of being trapped—everything poured out in that single moment.
Aventurine didn’t flinch. Instead, he wrapped his arms around you, pulling you close against his chest. His body was warm, comforting, and his presence felt like the only thing keeping you grounded in that moment. You could feel his heartbeat steady and calm, and it somehow made you feel safe.
"You’ve been carrying this alone for too long," he whispered, his voice low and soothing as he gently rocked you. "But you don’t have to. Not anymore."
You clung to him, the tears flowing freely now. His hands rubbed soothing circles on your back, and he didn’t rush you, didn’t pressure you to stop crying. He let you fall apart, and in that moment, it felt like he was the only thing that could hold you together.
"You’re not alone," he murmured again, his voice soft but firm. "I’ll always be here. No matter what."
And as you cried in his arms, surrounded by the weight of your own emotions, you felt something shift inside you. The fear, the guilt, the exhaustion—it all started to fade, replaced by a warmth that came from the simple act of being held, of being seen.
You weren’t sure how long you stayed like that, but eventually, the tears subsided. You pulled back slightly, wiping your eyes, embarrassed by the vulnerability you’d just revealed.
Aventurine looked down at you, a gentle smile playing at the corners of his lips. "Better?" he asked softly, his fingers still brushing over your skin.
You nodded, your voice barely a whisper. "Yeah. Thanks... Aventurine."
He nodded, his expression unreadable but somehow comforting. "Anytime," he replied, pulling you back into his embrace. "Anytime."
And for the first time in a long while, you felt like maybe, just maybe, everything would be okay.
