👎🏻 the last few months in bl land have been the dryest in years lmao it's been a while since I've really been captured by anything. I dropped a few shows this month, some of which are well received by the public but I just can't get into them. The ones that recently ended were not satisfactory either and the only ones I'm enjoying out of the currently airing roster are not bls lol. The anticipation for THK is what keeps me going but even with that we have no guarantee for quality lol. I'm just really craving something good because this year has been pretty sad lol. recommendations are welcome.

The Batman Trailer Breakdown and Analysis
https://ift.tt/eA8V8J
The Batman trailer is finally here, accompanied by Nirvana’s “Something in the Way.” The two-minutes-and-a-half of footage presents a nightmarish new take on Gotham and the Dark Knight, an impressive feat considering only 25% of the movie has been shot so far, according to what director Matt Reeves said during the DC FanDome digital event.
Matt Reeves’ Batman reboot explores the early days of the Caped Crusader’s career, about two years into it, and focuses on a younger Bruce Wayne who is haunted by his past as well as a new villain who’s leaving victims all of the city for him to find.
We see in the trailer as Batman is hunted by a serial killer who is leaving him letters at every crime scene, teasing that the movie will feel more like a detective story than the usual action take. The trailer also gives us our first look at several villains, including Penguin, Catwoman, and a gang that seems to call back to a group first introduced in an animated series.
While the trailer makes quite a few things clear about this new Batman movie universe, there are a few lingering questions left in the promo’s wake. So we’re going breaking down the trailer to see what’s really going on in The Batman. And if there’s anything you spot in the trailer that we missed, let us know in the comments!
Before we get started, take a look at the trailer again:
Okay, let’s get started:
The trailer kicks off the character reveals right away, giving us our first look at The Batman‘s version of the Riddler — at least I’m pretty sure this is him. The riddle-obsessed villain isn’t really known for wearing a full facemask with glasses over it, but as you’ll see throughout the trailer, this movie seems to play like an extended fever dream full of grotesque baddies set against an almost overbearingly dark Gotham City.
This is the perfect version for this new take on the Riddler, who seems more like a serial killer here than the grinning megalomaniac we know from the comics, video games, and Batman Forever. In fact, Paul Dano’s Riddler looks about as far the opposite of Jim Carrey as you can get.
The trailer definitely sets up the Riddler as the main villain of the piece, a killer obsessed with getting to the Batman by leaving behind corpses and messages for the Dark Knight at his crime scenes. Above, we see one such victim, his face wrapped in tape with the words “No more lies” written over it.
Uncovering a lie seems to be a major aspect of the movie, as its a message the Riddler repeats to the Batman several times in the trailer. It suggests the Riddler knows something about the Caped Crusader that no one else does. Does the villain know that Bruce Wayne is the masked vigilante? Or does this lie run much deeper than that?
The fact that the Joker movie also dealt with the idea of the Wayne family’s hidden past — in that case, that Thomas Wayne may have had an illegitimate son — and that this movie could have at least one potential connection to last year’s Taxi Driver-inspired character piece makes me think the Riddler knows a secret about Bruce’s past. The Riddler, who seems to be speaking to Batman throughout the video, tells the Dark Knight at the end of the trailer that “he’s a part of this,” meaning whatever the villain is doing was designed to punish Bruce for something.
Reeves has said that his take on Batman is more of a detective story than an action movie, and this trailer definitely delivers on his promise. We see Jeffrey Wright’s Jim Gordon investigating the crime scene the Riddler leaves behind at the start of the trailer, while a forensics team takes photographs and gathers evidence.
One piece evidence is a green envelope left behind for Batman. Inside is a card with a riddle that I can’t quite make out, but it’s undoubtedly meant to lead the World’s Greatest Detective to the next clue in the Riddler’s twisted game. We also see that the Riddler has also picked up a few things from the Zodiac Killer’s book of riddles, as he leaves behind a code for the Bat to crack.
A blink-and-you’ll-miss-it shot of a framed newspaper at the crime scene gives fans of The Dark Knight and The Long Halloween a nice easter egg to mull over. We already knew John Turturro was set to play crime boss Carmine Falcone in the movie but now we know that his comrade in crime/rival Salvatore Maroni also exists in this universe and has been busted for transporting drugs at some point before the start of the movie. Was Maroni one of Batman’s early targets? Maybe we’ll find out.
Here’s an excellent look at what the top half of the new Batsuit looks like. It’s pretty much a suit of armor, although the cowl and cape seem to be made out of leather. And as we already knew, this Batsuit has a collar, which is a pretty neat addition to the usual suits designed for the movies.
This scene also confirms that by year two of Batman’s career, he’s already on good terms with Gordon and the GCPD, although something tells me that relationship ain’t gonna last very long…
I have no idea who this is, but I’m going to guess its The Batman‘s version of Commissioner Loeb, the corrupt head of police that preceded Gordon. Since the movie is getting a GCPD-centric spinoff on HBO about the corruption inside the police force, I’m going to assume this version of Loeb will be a bit closer to the power-hungry chief introduced in Frank Miller and David Mazzucchelli’s Batman: Year One.
We also get a look at the new Batcave, which is about as minimalist as the Dark Knight’s secret lair can get. In fact, it looks more like a garage than a secret underground science lab/high-tech surveillance station. It even looks like this version of Bruce spends more time working on his Batmobile than on his computer piecing mysteries together. Can you even call that a Batcomputer? It looks like a workbench with a dual-monitor PC setup. Does this dude even get wi-fi inside his underground mechanic shop?
Bruce is at someone’s funeral for someone I don’t recognize when a car comes crashing through the church. Inside seems to be a man with a bomb and a letter for Batman strapped to his chest. Does the Riddler know Batman is attendance already or does he think this latest scheme will lure him there?
Either way, we also get our best look at Pattinson as Bruce. It’s interesting to see a version of Bruce who doesn’t sport slicked back billionaire hair. Instead, Pattinson wears more of an emo slick — very fitting for the mood of this trailer.
We get our first look at Zoe Kravitz as Selina Kyle doing what she does best: stealing. Reeves said during DC FanDome that this version of Selina hasn’t quite morphed into Catwoman at the start of the film and is instead still being shaped into the master thief we know and love.
The trailer shows us a brief snippet of Selina taking on Batman, suggesting that the characters will be at odds with each other in the movie. But could this be the start of a love-hate relationship like what we’ve seen in past takes on this duo? This should be interesting.
We also get to see Colin Farrell’s absolutely incredible transformation into the scarred Oswald Cobblepot, who, according to Reeves, is still working his way up the crime ladder in this movie. He’s not yet the powerful crime lord known as the Penguin, but it sure seems like he causes plenty of havoc for the Bat nonetheless.
Here’s why I mentioned that Joker connection earlier. The gang of face-painted goons that challenge Batman in the trailer sure look inspired by the Clown Prince of Crime. My initial reaction was that The Batman was doing the Jokerz, the Joker-worshiping gang introduced in the Batman Beyond animated series, but what if these guys were actually inspired by Arthur Fleck’s actions in the ’70s-set movie?
We know that by the end of Joker, Arthur has a cult following rallying around him, despite the fact that he’s admitted to murdering quite a few people by that point. His followers, who don their own clown makeup and masks, see Arthur as a freedom fighter, someone fighting for justice in a corrupt city where the rich have it all and the poor have nothing. It wouldn’t be surprising to see that Arthur has become a symbol all these years later, inspiring the next generation to go out into the streets and cause their own chaos.
I know WB has said that both The Batman and Joker exist in their own universes, but I wouldn’t be surprised if the studio was suddenly anxious to tie these two movies together after the massive success of the latter. If Pattinson ever does take on the Joker, you can bet your Batarangs that WB will try its very hardest to make it the Joaquin Phoenix version of the villain.
Anyway, we eventually watch as Batman beats the ever-living shit out of one of these clowns. It’s a bit…much.
While Batman and the GCPD seem to be on good terms at the start of the trailer, things have certainly taken a turn later. We first see Bats getting into a scuffle inside an interrogation room surrounded by cops and then later escaping a building while police officers shoot at him. That second shot actually seems to recreate the famous panels from Year One where the Dark Knight escapes an abandoned building surrounded by the GCPD with the help of a swarm of bats, a scene that also inspired an action sequence in Christopher Nolan’s Batman Begins.
Why are Batman and the GCPD suddenly at odds? It’s possible this is part of the Riddler’s plan to destroy the Bat. Has the villain framed the Dark Knight for something? Or has Batman gone too far in his search for justice?
The new Batmobile is front and center towards the tail end of the trailer. It’s a very cool and surprisingly realistic take on the Batmobile unlike what we’ve seen in past movies. This muscle car definitely looks like something Bruce would have worked on himself inside the Batcave.
Finally, we get a look Batman sans mask. There’s no elegant bachelor under the cowl in The Batman but a beaten down, soot-covered man who looks more troubled than any other Bruce before him. Pattinson’s Bruce almost looks more inspired by The Crow than Ben Affleck, Christian Bale, or Michael Keaton before him. It definitely looks like he’s taking the character in a new direction.
We’ll find out for sure when The Batman hits theaters on Oct. 1, 2021.

‘Joker’ Paints An Uncomfortable Picture of Today’s World
Tumblr media
Never did I think I’d see the day where I could parallel even the darkest of Batman themes to the world we live in.
Todd Phillips’ latest blockbuster Joker stars Joaquin Phoenix as the clown prince of crime we all know and love. Phillips’ other films include the Hangover trilogy, but this new film doesn’t have a happy go-lucky trio trying to remember their drunken stupors and find their fourth mate.
Joker makes the audience laugh, but in a nervous, sort of uncomfortable way.
At the Venice Film Festival, Joker received an eight-minute standing ovation.
Reviews poured in following the Italian premiere and they backed up the hype. Mark Hughes of Forbes said, “The fact is, everyone is going to be stunned by what Phoenix accomplishes, because it’s what many thought impossible — a portrayal that matches and potentially exceeds that of The Dark Knight’s Clown Prince of Crime.”
The film opens with Phoenix touching up his makeup in front of a vanity. He hooks his fingers in the corners of his mouth and pulls them upward in a smile, downwards in a frown, then back up again; a single, mascara-stained tears roll down his cheek, and laughter ensues.
Phoenix plays Arthur Fleck, an eccentric man with a funny laugh and a horrifying past, searching for his identity. The film encapsulates Arthur’s journey with himself and his downward spiral into becoming the Joker.
There are some prevalent themes within Joker that are worth talking about; the most prevalent being mental health and its effect on people in today’s society. There are several scenes in which Phoenix is sitting in front of his therapist, and she eventually jerks the needle off the record and informs him that the city has cut the clinic’s funding and their meetings must come to an end. The therapist goes on to claim that the higher-ups, “don’t give a shit,” about people like him or her.
According to the National Survey of Drug Use and Health, in 2016, 9.8 million adults aged 18 or older in the U.S. had a serious mental illness; 2.8 million of those adults were below the poverty line. Insurance companies have also been known to skimp when it comes to mental health cases, which makes it that much harder for people relating to Arthur to seek help. According to a study published by Milliman, in 2015, behavioral care was four to six times more likely to be provided out-of-network than medical or surgical care. In President Trump’s proposed 2020 budget, his administration aims to cut $241 billion from Medicaid, an assistance program that provides healthcare to low-income Americans.
Dancing is a symbol that is heavy in Joker. According to a Harvard study, “dance helps reduce stress, increases levels of the feel-good hormone serotonin, and helps develop new neural connections, especially in regions involved in executive function, long-term memory, and spatial recognition.” After especially tense scenes, Arthur begins a slow, emphasized dance routine that is hauntingly beautiful.
Tumblr media
With mental health being such a prevalent theme, Arthur clinging onto dancing as a coping mechanism or escape from the world backs up the analysis that he’s doing it to improve his mental health — or at least attempt to.
In any Batman rendition — comics, movies, TV shows, video games — Gotham is always on fire… literally. In Joker, we see a bright Gotham in the beginning, with normal big-city crimes happening: teenagers stealing things, muggings, etc. By the end of the film, Arthur has bred chaos in the streets, and we see the imagery of Gotham that has become so prevalent within the Batman universe. In both Arthur and Gotham’s descent into madness, there’s an arc that’s ever present: protesting the elite.
All around the country, protests have emerged to combat the elite. Most recently, climate change has brought criticism on the world’s elite members and their inability to make a change. In the past, police brutality has created protests in riots from victim’s families and their supporters, calling for change in law enforcement procedures. Countless marches have been held in response to several pieces of legislations passed (abortion laws, Planned Parenthood budget cuts, LGBTQ+ rights).
“Kill The Rich” is a headline that pops up time and time again throughout the film, feeding into this “protest the elite” arc. Arthur guns down three rich men in the subway following their harassment of a woman and a physical altercation between himself and the men. This sparks a movement within Gotham that empowers Arthur and makes him feel noticed, something he’d never experienced in his life before. Citizens of Gotham supporting this movement don clown masks to imitate the suspect, aka, Arthur.
Joker has faced its fair share of backlash. Stephanie Zacharek of Time Magazine took no prisoners in her review, stating that Joker, “lionizes and glamorizes Arthur even as it shakes its head, faux-sorrowfully, over his violent behavior.” Other reviews have had similar opinions. In 2012, a mass shooting broke out at a Colorado movie theatre during The Dark Knight Rises premiere. The assailant fatally shot 12 people. Family members of the slain victims wrote a letter to Warner Bros. expressing their concerns.
Sandy Phillips, mother to 24-year-old victim Jessica Ghawi, told The Hollywood Reporter, “I don't need to see a picture of [the gunman]; I just need to see a Joker promo and I see a picture of the killer … My worry is that one person who may be out there — and who knows if it is just one — who is on the edge, who is wanting to be a mass shooter, may be encouraged by this movie. And that terrifies me.”
In what is perhaps its most iconic scene, Arthur eccentrically dances down the stairs that we see him trudge up throughout the film. This is also the first time we see him in that iconic purple suit, green hair, and a full face of makeup. He is dancing to Gary Glitter’s “Rock and Roll Part Two,” which has earned the film more backlash. Gary Glitter is a convicted pedophile currently serving a 16-year prison sentence. According to CNBC, Glitter is allegedly slated to receive royalties from the use of his song in the movie.
Tumblr media
People took to Twitter to post their opinions about the film. One user tweeted, “#JokerMovie was the most brutal, uncomfortable and tense movie experience I’ve had in a long time. Joaquin Phoenix is chilling. The film was spot on and did everything it should have for a character like the Joker.”
Another user tweeted, “Outstandingly Disturbing. Prolific. Necessary Blessing to Modern Cinema.”
As much as I enjoyed the film’s premise, production, and Phoenix’s performance, I do think there are some troubling themes that need to be brought up. Arthur often justifies his heinous actions by stating “they deserved it” and using the defense that society treats “people like him” like “trash” so, they should all die. He feeds into the “Kill The Rich” movement that he involuntarily created in the subway when he committed what we presume to be his first murder(s).
Though I know the concept behind the Joker character, I can see how this can be construed as glorifying gun violence. However, we can’t have the Gotham supervillain without violence and guns. It’s an accurate representation of the character, and it’s unfortunate that it parallels a lot of what’s going on in the world today.
The Joker is also painted to incite pity within viewers, which a lot of times, it does --- or at least attempts to. This is classic Joker behavior. In Paul Dini and Bruce Timm’s comic Mad Love, readers meet Dr. Harleen Quinzel, a psychiatrist at Arkham Asylum. She gets assigned to none other than --- you guessed it --- the Joker. Though this woman is highly educated (we won’t talk about the things she did to get that education), the Joker still manipulates her and convinces her to not only help him escape Arkham, but become his partner-in-crime as well; Harleen Quinzel is no more and Harley Quinn is born.
She pities him and his situation, and he spins his tale of woe so expertly that she has the wool pulled over her eyes. Throughout the comic --- and the general timeline for Joker and Harley --- Joker mercilessly abuses Harley, from pushing her out a window to not noticing she was gone for six months. He is a cruel, manipulative psychopath that nobody should follow in the footsteps of; however, he’s good at his job, and Joker showcases that, however controversial and uncomfortable it may be.
Joker is rated R for a reason; not only are there a few F-bombs, the violence is staggering. However, when dealing with a character that is known for inciting violence and not caring about the consequences, tough scenes are necessary. Phillips didn’t shy away from blood and intensity in his murder scenes, and Phoenix went all in when it came to brutality. Personally, (spoiler!) I never really wanted to see Robert De Niro’s brains blown out the back of his skull, but you can’t have the Joker without some blood.
Tumblr media
And finally, while the troubled citizens looking for a leader are terrorizing Gotham following Arthur’s murder of Murray Franklin (Robert De Niro) on live television, our hero’s story starts. Thomas and Martha Wayne are gunned down in an alley outside a theatre by a rogue thug and Joker fan, and young Bruce Wayne begins his famous story.
Joker was original in concept and plot, but had just enough callbacks to the comics to make it permissible. The atmosphere in the full theatre I was in was palpable. There were chuckles and titters here and there when Arthur would make a funny joke, or everyone was just laughing off the tension of the moment. There were also audible gasps and groans when things got especially rough (such as the aforementioned Robert De Niro scene). Joker did exactly what the real Joker would have wanted: it incited a reaction out of people.
I had low expectations going into the movie because, as someone who grew up reading Batman and loving to hate the Joker, I was afraid my favorite complex villain was going to get ruined (looking at you, Jared Leto). I was pleasantly surprised by Phoenix’s performance and Phillips’ take on Mista J, and it was a refreshing performance that was a polar opposite from the late Heath Ledger’s, but equally as convincing and chilling.
An Oscar seems to be on the horizon for both Phillips and Phoenix for Joker. The film is raunchy and tense, and I didn’t know I could hold my breath for two hours. It’s exactly what a Joker movie should be, and I’d encourage anyone to go watch it.

WHY does the android app gotta suck so much, when i click the faq link it just like refreshes the page,,,, this happens with all links in bios on the andoird app :[
NNNN lovin this broke ass app.
I’mma go ahead and paste the FAQ just under the cut, hopefully you should be able to read it now :’))
(FAQ is written by Mod Joker)
“Are requests open?”
We get this ask a lot. And while I don’t mind answering, it does get a lilll annoying sometimes since we’re essentially repeating ourselves constantly. Before you ask, please check our ask box! It will ALWAYS give our request status!
From now on if we receive requests when they’re closed, we’re going to delete the message entirely. You’re free to ask again when they’re open, but we need breaks!
“Can allistic/neurotypical people follow?”
Yes! So long as you’re respectful of stimming and understand it’s not an aesthetic or something to make fun of.
“It says there’s two mods, but I only really see Mod Joker post.”
There is! But Mod Boo is rather, well, shy. We both are, tbh. I’ve just gotten used to talking a lot on this blog. And to tell ya the truth I invited her to mod this with me because she considered making a blog but wasn’t sure how she’d do it, and was worried she’d be too awkward/quiet. But she actually tends to see your messages a lot! She just tends to let me handle things. But if you ever wanna talk to her, just say the message is specifically for her and I’m sure she’ll get back to you. She’s very friendly and tbh one of the best people to talk to!!
“How do you make gifs?”
I use the same method stimmybby uses! His tutorial’s right here!
“How do you make banners?”
I use photoshop and for backgrounds (depending on what type of background), I use paint tool SAI. I made a tutorial on how I do it here!
“Can we use your banners for posts that aren’t stim related?”
Absolutely! So long as credit is given and you’re not in our dni, then use it as you like! Discourse posts, art, vent posts, promo posts, whatever floats your boat!
“Can I use your gif/s?”
As long as there’s credit to us for the gif/s and you don’t apply to our dni, you’re free to!
“How can I credit you?”
There’s a few ways! Such as
- Including the credit in the post and/or under the cut (this is the best way people can access the original post and see the credit!
- Include the credit in the post’s captions
- Include the credit in the tags
- Include a link in the post to another post that has the credits in it
- Saying you got the gif/s from us in the post
“What are bad/wrong ways to ”“credit”“ you?”
- Saying “I don’t own these gifs”
- Saying “credit to the original owner(s)/gifmaker(s)
- Straight up not saying you took these gifs from people/including in no credits
- Claiming the gif/s are yours/you made them
If I see any of these I WILL publicly call you out on it and you WILL be blocked immediately thereafter. That block will not be lifted.
“What does REG mean?”
Reactionary Exclusionary Gatekeeper. Meaning people who try to exclude certain queer people from queer spaces. Such a biphobes, transphobes, aphobes, panphobes, and so on.
“What does TERF mean?”
Trans/Transgender Exclusionary Radical Feminist. Meaning radfems who are transphobic and are violent towards trans people (especially trans women).
“What does SWERF mean?”
Sex Worker Exclusionary Radical Feminist. They’re radfems who try to exclude sex worker from their feminism and often treat women attracted to men as less worthy.
“What’s the ADT community?”
ADT stands for “Actually Dysphoric Trans/Transgender” and was created by transmedicalists/truscum to break off from the trans community. It’s an insult to the trans community, an insult to the creator of the transgender pride flag (it’s removed the white that was there for people who ID as non-binary/outside the gender binary), and is there purely to start drama and create rifts in a community that’s already got enough enemies for simply existing in a transphobic world
“He/Him lesbians don’t exist/they’re transphobic towards trans men”
As a trans man who doesn’t think the world revolves around me and who understands that what lesbians decide to do it literally none of my goddamn business: get the fuck over yourself you whiny pissbaby
“What do you mean by people in the true crime community?”
People who sexualize, romanticize, excuse, and/or support serial killers and their actions/crimes. This doesn’t include people who are INTERESTED in the topic of crimes, serial killers, etc but acknowledging how these people are disgusting and their actions are unforgivable.
“Why are you anti-cgl?”
Cause we hate pedophiles and are decent human beings.
“You’re bigoted to kinksters just like homophobes are bigoted to gay people!”
I hate to break it to ya bud but I’m proudly kinkphobic and you’re a giant homophobe!!
“I’m a SFW cgl(re)/littlespace blog so I’m following/interacting uwu”
No the fuck you aren’t!! You’re a kink blog, there’s no such thing as a “sfw kink” even if you’re remaining two braincells are too busy fighting over the last pacifier to tell you some fuckin common sense. Your ass is getting blocked and I’ll also be using your blog to take a look at the people you interact and block them too just for safe measure! Eat a cactus, fuck nugget
“You hate lesbians if you hate TERFs”
You owe every lesbian an apology for assuming they’re all mysogynistic, LGBT+phobic pieces of horseshit like you are. Eat a dick.
“aces/aros aren’t LGBT uwu”
Wow… that’s so wrong Alexa play Fuck You by Lily Allen
“Me/Someone I know/(insert user/s) has been blocked. Why?”
There can be a number of reasons why you’re blocked, and I’m not afraid to block people as I want this place comfortable and safe for the mods and followers. So there’s several reasons as to why.
- You apply to our DNI (see BYF)
- You’re a (insert harmless children’s cartoon) critical blog (I tend to block those due to them saying LGBT+phobic things)
- You get into kin drama
- You’re an ace discourse, pan discourse, bi discourse, and/or overall REG discourse blog (this does not mean I block inherently block discourse blogs! I block the shitty ones)
- You’re a spam/porn/etc bot (if I’ve gotten this wrong, lemme know! I tend to block shady and empty blogs for this reason unless their desc/url/etc says it’s empty/weird for a reason)
- You’re a blog that frequently posts/centers around one or more of my triggers
- You’re an aesthetic blog (though I tend to soft block for them. But this is NOT an aesthetic blog and stimmy is NOT an aesthetic)
- You’re an “anyone can interact” stim blog
- You’re a stim blog that steals/doesn’t credit the gifs they use
- I feel you and I are going to argue and I’m just saving us the trouble of future unpleasant encounter/s
- You’ve been shitty to my friends or just been shitty to people in general and I’ve noticed it
HOWEVER I’ve made slip ups in the past! If you feel you don’t apply to any of these, you can contact me through my main and ask why. Sometimes I don’t always remember why I blocked somebody (sadly there’s a lot of shitheads on this site I’ve needed to block) or I’ve confused one blog for another person’s blog. Or maybe the person was more chill than I thought. Please contact me yourself rather than ask somebody else to do it though so I can get all the details! Even if I don’t lift the block, I won’t report you for block evading or anything.
“You used to be kidheart friendly and now you’re not, why’s that?”
Sadly, Raven (the creator of Kidhearts) has proven to be a bully sympathizer and feels it’s okay to compare agere to kinks/cgl and sides with regressionuncensored. She condones bullying/harassment/the sexualization of minors and I am not nor will ever be okay with that.
“But Raven sai-”
I don’t care what she says. She made it abundantly clear that she supports regressionuncensored and I don’t care that it came back to bite her in the ass. Bullies deserve no support, no sympathy, no nothing. And if you side with her than don’t come near this blog. This is agere safe and I will not allow people who support sexualizing it to interact. Kidhearts WILL be blocked on the spot, no questions asked.
“I’ve left a community on the dni list, can I follow/interact?”
Yes!
“Why are you anti-(insert thing on blacklist here)?”
Camp Camp: It’s racist + antisemitic
Dragon Maid: It’s pedophilic
Killing Stalking: It’s homophobic, ableist, sexist, perpetuates rape culture, and fetishizes abuse
Your Lie in April: It romanticizes child abuse and it literally starts off with a gross pedo joke when we meet the love interest in episode one
Split: It’s ableist
Hetalia: It’s antisemitic
Harry Potter/J.K. Rowling’s works: Actually there’s nothing inherently bad about the story. I just don’t like it. HOWEVER: I can’t stand J.K. Rowling as she’s a TERF/overall LGBT+phobe, and racist. So none of her creations will be featured here.
Sonic Boom: Nothing inherently problematic. I just can’t stand the show because it just fuckin sucks
13 Reasons Why: It romanticizes suicide and the creators refused to listen to actual mental health experts and have made the show potentially dangerous to anyone who even slightly deals with suicidal thoughts/urges
Detroit Become Human: It’s racist + antisemitic
Voltron: Legendary Defender: It queerbaits/it’s LGBT+phobic
“REG is a transphobic term”
I, Mod Joker, am trans. Try again.
“A-specs aren’t LG-”
*buzzer sound* wrong. So sad for you
“You’re not LGBT+ because you DARED disagree with me because you actually acknowledged that tumblr didn’t credit the community sweaty uwu”
We get this shit because a lot of you assume I’m ace or at the very least a-spec. And… Ya couldn’t be far from it. I’m a pan, genderfluid trans man. Even with all your gatekeeper (sorry, BULLSHIT) logic; I’d still be attracted to multiple genders and not be cis. I’m p queer. So no matter which way you slice it, I’m part of LGBT+. Die mad about it.
“You’re comparing aphobes to TERFs and SWERFs you fucking transphobe!”
Wow I didn’t realize setting boundaries meant that I viewed y'all in the EXACT same light. I’m so glad I have the lovely aphobes that have told my friends that they should kill themselves to set me straight.
Asking people not to interact doesn’t inherently mean I think they’re the EXACT same thing.
“Mod Joker is a gif-thief and reposts people’s content without properly crediting them!”
I have made this entire post explaining that’s wrong. Idrc if the post is too lengthy for you. Don’t talk shit if you don’t even have all the details.
Additionally, if you send me somethin about this in a negative light I’m IP blocking you. One strike and you’re out. If you want to believe people with false info and false accusations then that’s your baggage. Not mine.
HOWEVER if I’ve accidentally mis-credited, forgot to/messed up on crediting a person for their gif/video, or so on let me know! I’ll make mistakes, but I never do it intentionally.

Gotham 04X20, ‘That Old Corpse’
This week: grave-robbing and presumed Jekyll and Hyde antics. This is Gotham.
- Episode hasn’t quite started yet, and I’m already wondering what the inevitable scene between Lee and Jim in the precinct is going to be like. Why doesn’t she just claim she was a hostage, anyways?
- Since the preview showed Ed burning the deeds, I do wonder how this is going to come back later. Logically, those weren’t the only copies of the deeds, but still…
- We open on some impromptu memorial service for Jerome. “Second time’s the charm” is actually a pretty good inscription for his headstone; I think he’d approve. A funeral-crasher shows up with a message: dig up the coffin.
- Oh, look, the Jim-Lee melodrama has arrived. “What can I do?” Oh, come on, Jim, don’t pretend you don’t think the law only works for the people you think it should.
- Why is Harvey the one pointing out that Lee’s robbery was semi-justifiable this week when it was Jim pointing out something similar last week about dirty banks while Harvey was being the hardass?
- Jim and Lee have it out; Lee’s strikes are clearly hitting home.
- A “present” from Jerome shows up. There’s a video. A VHS instead of a DVD, further obfuscating what time period this is supposed to be in. Jerome informs him some goons are heading for the precinct for a “wake”… just as they show up.
- Will Lee take advantage of the chaos to escape?
- A car shows up with Jerome’s casket.
- Back at the Narrows, Ed and Lee’s goons are discussing how to break Lee out. Their group seems to be on a collision course with the “mourners.”
- They’re using Jerome’s casket as a battering ram. That’s just absurd enough to be mildly hilarious. This show’s really at its best when it embraces three things. A) Camp. B) Black humor. C) General morbidity. When it embraces all of these things at once, you understand.
- Who wrote this episode, by the way? I haven’t seen enough to know if it’s halfway decent (and the inconsistencies in Jim and Harvey’s positions is a warning sign if ever I saw one), but it’s been decently well-paced so far. Is this another Ben McKenzie script?
- Jim’s plan is… I’m not a tactical genius, but it actually sounds okay.
- Bruce and Jeremiah are in their maze. I’m wondering when Mr. Hyde is going to come out to play and leave our Dr. Jekyll in the dark.
- Jeremiah is flipping through Jerome’s diary. Bruce looks appropriately disturbed and appropriately concerned. I hate he’s going to go over the edge so quickly, because he and Bruce have a fairly sweet dynamic.
- Alfred is heading around Wayne Manor with a gun, apparently having heard a disturbance, only to get ambushed off-screen. I’m assuming by Jerome’s people.
- Jeremiah tells Bruce about getting gassed. Well, I’m glad that for once the little communication issue of people refusing to tell other people vital information was side-stepped.
- Bruce suggests going to where Jerome’s buried to prove that he’s dead and give Jeremiah a little piece and mind. Boy, is that going to be an unpleasant experience.
- It’s Operation Unruly Clown in the precinct. Just before all hell breaks loose, Jim and Lee have one last little exchange. I wonder if Jim is at all affected by this.
- Lee gets knocked out. Oh, the drama. Oh, the half-baked drama that I’m sure won’t lead to glurgey EdxLee scenes later.
- Jim faces off against some of Jerome’s people in the locker room. Harvey and Harper ambush them, and Jim apparently decides to have a good old-fashioned fist fight with the head goon.
- Gotta say, now that I don’t care about what’s happening anymore, it’s a lot easier to just be Zen about all this. Like, the bad writing still irritates me, but I think it’s going to take a lot more for me to get properly angry.
- Is that… Is that a pool of blood in the kitchen? Wow, I actually feel a little sorry for Alfred.
- Jeremiah desperately wants to bolt out of the cemetery. He’s twitchy as hell, poor guy. I actually feel sorry for him, now; now that they’re being more upfront about the fact that he’s not well, it’s easier to sympathize with him.
- Jeremiah sees Jerome’s exhumed grave, screams “He’s alive!” and runs away. Honestly, that is probably the most sensible thing anyone’s ever done in the history of this show.
- Oswald tries to eat his lunch, only for Butch to be an asshole and steal his food straight off his plate. Butch… You radiate anti-sympathy waves. Why do you expect me to feel sorry for you?
- Why is Oswald reduced to robbing liquor stores for income? Doesn’t he have more resources than that?
- I’m just waiting for Ed and Co. to show up. Where are they?
- Oh, great, police brutality. Again.
- The little gag of rogues opening the back of the van while that one guy yells “X! We’re saved!” is kinda funny, I’ll admit. Especially when Oswald just motions for Butch to grab one of them.
- Lee wakes up in the precinct while the orgy’s going on. She’s probably concussed, so I wonder how well she’s gonna do. No charming your way out this situation when it’s all you can do not to fall over, throw up, and pass out.
- Jeremiah has apparently run into a crypt. Suddenly, I’m beginning to understand why people ship Batman and the Joker. …I never wanted to be in this position.
- Jeremiah seems to think Bruce… is Jerome. Given how paranoid he seems to be even at the best of times, I can actually buy this as being plausible.
- Back to the orgy. Ed Nygma is dressed as a clown, and we learn the casket is full of liquor bottles.
- Lee ambushes him and hits him with a can that makes a satisfyingly metallic clang. I laughed.
- Jim shows up at the maze. And seems to have no trouble navigating it without Jeremiah’s help, further giving the lie to the idea that he’s any kind of expert maze-builder.
- Jerome’s followers just left his body sitting out by the exhumed grave… and nobody noticed it until now??? What?????
- The harlequin from the opening scene has a gun to Jim’s head while he watches the video Jerome left… until someone reaches from off-screen and throttles him. That’s interesting.
- Is it Ecco under that mask? What’s her involvement with all this?
- It is Ecco. What’s with this?
- Jim turns his attention back to the window, where it turns out the throttling thing was just a theatrical thing. Back to proper programming.
- Jerome’s followers show up and separate Jeremiah and Bruce (Good thing, too; I doubt Bruce is skilled enough with headlock safety to keep from hurting him). The part where Jeremiah wipes his face with a handkerchief to show his now-naturally white skin is another homage to the 1989 Batman film; we’ve been seeing a lot of those this season, haven’t we? Well, I’ll give them this much; when it comes to other Batman homages, they’ve got decent taste.
- Cameron Monaghan’s great.
- I wonder if Jeremiah is going to be to Bruce in this continuity what Harvey Dent is to Bruce in the DCAU. It would make a fair amount of sense.
- The mask of madness, huh? Somehow, I doubt that very much.
- Jeremiah: “To truly build something, you must tear down what’s already there.”
- Jim’s left locked in the room with the overloading generators. And apparently they work pretty well as bombs.
- Just before the GCPD can storm the clinic, the first of the generators explodes. The one in the maze, apparently. How the fuck did Jim get out of the blast zone in time, because I seriously doubt this show has the guts to kill him—especially since we see him in promo shots for future episodes, apparently unharmed. The blast zone is supposed to have a radius of a mile (Jeremiah said you didn’t want to be anywhere within a mile of it), and there’s no way Jim could have gotten that far away in time. Also, I’d bet the explosion would be enough to make the ceiling collapse, so logically, he should be deader than disco.
- Bruce gets tossed in the grave with Jerome’s corpse. Christ, poor kid’s gonna have a stroke when he wakes up.
- Oswald is interrogating Jerome’s head goon.
- Butch, all you have to do to look normal is to get a spray-on tan and hair dye. I don’t feel remotely sorry for you.
- Oswald calls it a “tale of woe.” Bless you, Oswald.
- Glurgey EdxLee scene is glurgey. That is all.
- And cue the tear gas! Well, I guess that’s one way to break up an orgy.
- Ed and Lee watching those guys escaping down the fire escape is a decent scene, though.
- Last scene is Jeremiah at Wayne Research. With Ecco. Is anyone ever going to explain what the deal is with Ecco. And don’t just give me that “She’s Harley” crap and try to leave it there. I want an explanation that isn’t lazy. Why is she like this?

reddit(.)com/r/Gotham/comments/8f8eca/spoilers_insider_info - So, Jeremiah is going to get a dissociative identity disorder.
Have u seen the spoilers? Apparently ecco is really going to be harleen quinzel, not just a proto harley
I don’t know if you guys are the same anon, but if not, you’re messaging me about the same thing so I’m putting you together - hope you don’t mind!
You know, as an aside - this is an amount of spoilers I would usually be kinda ticked off about knowing in advance. Like, when I first got into fandom I was committed to being 100% SPOILER FREE and HATED any kind of advanced info, even from promos and stuff..... Then when I got more into the meta/speculation side of things, keeping up with official spoilers became a sort of necessary evil, because it was/is simply impossible to join in speculative discussion WITHOUT knowing those kind of spoilers. However, in general I do usually still try to stick to avoiding unofficial, unsourced spoilers, since you can never be sure how reliable they are.
Gotham has been a big departure for me in this regard, since a LOT of spoilers come from unofficial sources, like fans who have seen advanced showings or have captured BTS footage and so on. And now people posting bits of future scripts they’ve got somehow or this break down of future scripts on reddit.
The odd BTS fan video was mostly fine, and I was happy to get excited about those. But once bits of future script started getting posted and handed around and discussed, that was taking things a bit too far for me tbh.
So yeah. True but boring story.
HOWEVER, considering my emotional investment in the show has... lessened of late. At this point I’m probably more GRATEFUL for the head’s up than anything. So ta for the link! (you’re not even the first person to send me one anon, I got some in chat as well :p)
Re: the spoilers themselves -
Ngl, it all sounds... fine/fun/okay to me. Jeremiah having a personality disorder is, ofc, something of a re-hash of Eddie’s plot. But, and I’ve talked about this before, since Riddler and Joker have always had a bit of an overlap as characters, with some stories even mocking them for being considered similar villains (only with Eddie being less popular/infamous :p), I think them sharing some psychological issues and character traits actually WORKS? So I’m pretty chill with that (also sounds like Jeremiah’s identity issues are gonna be SO MUCH EASIER TO UNDERSTAND than Eddie’s, which is a RELIEF to my poor little brain....).
Re: Harley - I’ve always been down to have a Gotham version of Harley. I liked Ecco, so I’m cool with it being her. My one thing - overlapping/paralleling Joker and Riddler as characters is cool and all but.... WHY give Harley a name traditionally associated with Riddler henchwomen, WHY?? That’s taking the overlap between Joker and Riddler a little far maybe? Mostly because I’m now a bit ??? about Gotham Riddler’s future in regards to henchwomen - because if Jeremiah/Joker already HAD a henchwoman/sidekick called Ecco then... does it make sense for Eddie/Riddler to go on and have his own Echo along with Query? Him finding a girl with the same name seems incredulous (though knowing Gotham, the show and the city, not implausible I suppose). And if he doesn’t, why would he call one of his girls the same name?
.........hmmmmm, unless it’s him trying to COPY Jeremiah/Joker a little? Perhaps because he sees Joker is clearly becoming more popular, so he decides he needs to steal some of his ‘act’? Oooooh.... actually, maybe I could get behind that..... Eddie grabbing a random girl to mimic Joker’s, making her an Echo of Joker’s Ecco... but then Eddie has to outdo Joker ofc, so while Joker has just the one female sidekick, Eddie gets TWO. Okay okay, I’ve successfully talked myself around to this, never mind :P
Everything else listed in the link sounds just fine. Esp. happy to hear I was right about Ozzie and Butch/Grundy.
So.... yus, assuming the info is legit, I’m good with it *shrug*

My Reaction to “Gotham” S4E19
We gotta wait two weeks until the rest of the episodes!!!  Which is actually a pretty smart move because “Infinity War” premieres next week.
Initial thoughts and predictions about the last three episodes of S4 are included as well after the reaction.
AN:  I managed to record my reactions to this episode and hopefully I can transcribe what I said into this post.
*imitates the Epic Voice Trailer guy doing the Gotham commercials*
OK, this recap is totally full of spoilers for me because I haven’t seen those episodes yet so this is my first time seeing Ra’s in action and I’m trying to catch up with this show...
What did they inject her [Tabitha] with?
OK Barbara, what are you doing?
*Some League Members sneak attack Barbara*  Oh wow!
“How should I know?!?  You’re ninjas!”  That’s... racist...
“I’m [Barbara] the Demon’s Head.  My hand is a freaking lightbulb!”  *snorts*
So the Demon’s Head can tell.. the future... with the flashlight hand?  OK...
Bruce, your car’s so loud!
“You don’t have a covert mode on this thing?”  No, cause it’s not the Batmobile yet!
*Bruce quiets the exhaust down*  Ohhhh... there we go!
“All I know is it’s about Barbara and it’s important.”  WHY? Why would you go along with that?
Bruce, why?  Just get back in the Batmobile!
 “Barbara needs our help.”  Why?
They’re gonna bring him [Ra’s] back from the dead?!?
I like this music here [that plays when the other League members take some of Bruce’s blood to bring back Ra’s]
Ohhh my God!
Ooooohhhhhh my God!
Wait, what about the Lazarus Pit?  Can’t they use that?  Just... throw him in?
Yeah, didn’t Sofia get shot in the forehead?  How is she still alive?
“What am I [Ed] to you [Lee]?”  Good question.
What the hell is this storyline?  Like, where are we going with this?
Freaking Oswald...
That sass, oh my god...
DID HE [Ra’s] JUST RIP OUT THE DUDE’S THROAT?
I knew Barbara wasn’t gonna last as the Demon’s Head!
Ohhhhhh who called it??  I did!
“I heard your offer.  And here’s my counter...”  Bite me.
“Bite me.”  There we go!
“Ohhhh... God, are you kidding me?!?!?”  HAHAHAHAHAHA!!
“We did not come here to fight.”  No, you [Oswald] came here to mope.  And bitch and complain, Oswald.
“Little advice:  be sure to skim some off the top when she tosses you aside.”  What?  I’m sorry, what?
“Turns out the old boy’s club don’t appreciate a woman calling the shots.”  I don’t think it’s that....
“I [Barbara] need to do my own thing.”  Uhhhhhh.... Barbara, no...
How are they doing Ra’s half-dead zombie mouth?  Is that prosthetics or CGI?
“You [Barbara] think that [the lady in the painting] was you?  She was just a whore...”  Ooooohhhh....
“You really thought you were an incarnated queen?  But in truth, you’re just an unstable nightclub owner whose greatest accomplishment was the murder of her own parents!”  Oooooohhhh....
Now there’s more flesh on his [Ra’s] hand now.  There we go.
OHHHH... WOW!
WE GOT SWORD-FIGHTING RA’S AL GHUL!  YES!!
*accidentally whacks laptop with a clothes hanger in excitement*
Oh that looks AWESOME!
*Ra’s impales a League member through the back with his sword from across the street*  OHH WOW!
Bruce just looks pissed!
Are they [people from the Narrows] eating bugs?
Oh yeah, she’s [Lee] like the leader of the Narrows
When is Lee gonna get back to Gotham?
“You don’t get it, Jim.”  No, I don’t get your [Lee’s] storyline.
“We’re gonna kill the son of a bitch [Ra’s].”  How?
Why does Bruce have to the one to kill Ra’s?
*laughs*  Uhh, what?
I like Alfred’s suit
Ohh my God!  Haha, they’re [Alfred and Tabitha] pretending to be married!
[Selina gets lowered down through the roof to steal the knife] *starts scatting the Mission Impossible theme*
And they [the embassy security] don’t even notice the knife being gone!
No cameras were on or anything that caught that?  Really?
I don’t like this whole split personality thing going on with Ed.
 I don’t like this...
Or... plot twist!  What happens if like both personalities figure out what’s happening and they kinda *claps hands together*  merge together or something like that?  I don’t know.
Selina, what are you doing?
“Give me [Barbara] the knife!”  Noooo
“Stay back, muffin!”  “Don’t you even go there, love!”  Hahahaha!
*Barbara points a gun at Bruce*  Really?
*Barbara shoots out the tires*  Oh, that’s mean...
Nooooo... they [Tabitha, Barbara, and Selina] took the Batmobile!
“That lovestruck moron, Ed, is floating down a river of dopamine deep within the primitive circuit of my brain and I need you to help me drown him.”  Ohhh.. wow.
“And how big is the score?”  “Uh, about a hundred million.  A piece.”  Ohh, big payload.
“Stabby-stab!”
“Maybe call back up?”  “I [Barbara] did!  Here they are!”  Really?!?
“Selina, we’re strongest when we’re together.”  But this is a terrible plan!
Does she have to do a special spell or all she has to do is lift up her flashlight hand [to summon Ra’s]?
Like “for the glory of Merlin, daylight is at my command!’ kind of thing...
Jim, what are you up to?
45 branches?!?  Of a bank?!?  In one city?
*Ra’s appears after the lights flicker and go out for a moment*  Ohhhh that’s cool!
“Ouch.”  HAHAHA!
*Ra’s throws Barbara through a glass window*  Oooooohhhh, wow!
*Bruce runs in and tackles Ra’s off of Barbara*  Ohhhh, Bruce in with the assist!
What?
Oh, it’s the future!
*Barbara sees Ra’s kill Tabitha*  Ohhhhh....
Wait, it’s another future thing!
“[Ra’s] You win.  Just don’t hurt her [Tabitha].”  Oh snap.
Ra’s funeral outfit that he’s wearing currently, with the hood, looks pretty sweet.  And with the ascot tucked into the vest.. that’s nice stuff.
*Ra’s starts transforming back into himself after getting the Demon’s Head back*  Uhhhh... everybody run?
Ohhhhh.... wow!
*Ra’s breaks the knife in half*  Shiiiiiiitt!
Bruce’s probably like “Man, I gotta learn how to do that Stealth Hi-Bye in the shadows like Ra’s does!”
Oh he [The Riddler] double-crossed them [Oswald and Butch]!
“If you come against Lee, you come against me.”  *cue incredulous look toward screen*
Take a shot every time Oswald goes into crazy yelling mode
Wasn’t it like a few episodes ago where the Riddler broke Oswald out of Arkham and they had their whole working together thing?
I like that shot of Ed putting on the bowler hat
Lee...
“[Lee] You know your rights.”  Oh wow.  Cold!
Barbara, what are you wearing?  That’s hideous.
*Barbara’s League members pledge their loyalty to her*  Ooohhh, so she has her own army now?!?
Ohhh... OK, things are getting interesting!
Can’t they just forge it [the knife] back together?
*Bruce leans in to kiss Selina*  Oh oh ooh ooooohhhhhhh....
*Ra’s interrupts*  OOOHH!!
Has he [Ra’s] been there the whole time?
“You have no idea what I’ll become.”  “Of course I do.  At least, what you could become.”  He’s telling the future!
“When I took back the Demon’s Head, I saw a vision of a cataclysmic event soon to befall this city.”  No Man’s Land!
“A cleansing fire that will purify, destroy, create.”  Ohhh..
“I will use it as a mighty forge, molding you into a dark knight of Gotham.”  Aaaahhhh!!
Oh wow!
OK, does that mean that for the No Man’s Land storyline coming up, does that we’re gonna get a “Batman Begins” kind of situation?  Where they would have to close off the Narrows and leave Scarecrow to go nuts in there.. and then...
“A cleansing fire...” yeah, they’re gonna try to burn it down!  Yeah, it’s gonna be like the Great Fire of London and burn Gotham down to the ground.  Are they gonna have that as well as the earthquake?  Because with No Man’s Land, the earthquake caused the government to segregate Gotham from the rest of the world (like no one was allowed in or out).  So how is this gonna work?
Or maybe Ra’s hasn’t seen like the whole future yet... no, he has to know, because Barbara had that whole Butterfly effect thing with seeing what decisions were bad for her to make.  So maybe he’s not telling Bruce the whole truth...
And with Season 5, if we ever get a Season 5, is gonna be a soft reboot because they’re gonna bring in more Batman-related elements so probably in the season finale, Bruce is gonna step up his vigilante game and all that (but I highly doubt he’s gonna go full Batman at the age of 18 like whoa, little soon, buddy).
And promo pictures of some of the villains doing their own thing were released already, so that’s probably how this season’s gonna end.  Wow.  Because we have Jeremiah stepping in as the Proto-Joker (who looks eerily like young Jack Napier from the 1989 Batman), and then all the others... wow!
And then, what’s gonna happen to Ecco?  She’s his [Jeremiah] bodyguard!  Like, he said that she pledged his life to him or something like that and he looked pretty freaked out when he though Ecco was in danger.  I don’t know what’s gonna happen to her.... I really hope she lives.  I know there’s a lot of theories going around about her.. there’s a theory that she’s gonna be Harley Quinn, which I’m not sure about.... while I kinda find it interesting, I’m more leaning toward the fact that there is another character from “No Man’s Land” named Echo, and that’s who she is.  Or...theory time:  what if Ecco ends up teaming up with Bruce and Gordon and she’s like “Hey, so Jeremiah’s going off the deep end and I want to make sure you guys can take him down rightfully but in order to do that, I’m gonna be a double agent for you guys and still work with Jeremiah as his bodyguard.”  I can see that happening...
How is the end of this season gonna go?

What we learned from WWE Payback 2017
Some wrestlers got their payback. Others, not so much.
The build to Payback was, generally speaking, a mess. The Superstar Shakeup saw a couple of key wrestlers moved off of RAW or awkwardly onto this pay-per-view, and it felt like it was potentially going to be stale for much of the card as WWE just moved past it as quickly as possible. Luckily, that’s not how things went down, as Payback was great nearly from start to finish, and the part that wasn’t great was weird enough to keep talking about the next day.
Chris Jericho defeats Kevin Owens for the United States Championship
Jericho and Owens, like at WrestleMania 33, countered move after move of the other due to their familiarity with each other. Owens eventually suckered Jericho into the corner and poked him in the eyes when the ref couldn’t see, and nearly secured a victory off of that underhandedness, but Jericho escaped the pin attempt and was abl to tap Owens out in his submission, the Walls of Jericho.
What we learned: The expectation was that Jericho was going to lose his rematch and go on tour with his band, Fozzy, while Kevin Owens continued to lord the United States title over his new friends on SmackDown Live. Instead, Jericho regained the championship he lost at WrestleMania 33 to his former best friend, will move to SmackDown alongside him, and now we don’t know what’s going on.
Jericho is still going on tour soon, but will he have a rematch with Owens this week on SmackDown? Will AJ Styles, the current number one contender for the US strap, be the one to face Jericho before the latter vanishes into the world of Sabbath-inspired rock? These are the questions that make you tune in.
Neville retains the Cruiserweight Championship against Austin Aries
Neville once again found a way to win underhandedly against Austin Aries, this time by losing. Neville got himself disqualified when it was clear he wasn’t going to be able to escape Aries’ submission finisher, Last Chancery, by grabbing the ref with his free arm and throwing him both into and over the pair. The ref gave Neville the DQ, Aries won the match but not the title, and Neville survived with the belt for another day.
WWE.com
What we learned: Back at NXT, Neville showed he would do what it took to win and hold onto that promotion’s top title, even when it made some shades of gray show up on the supposed babyface’s record. Now a full-blown heel, it’s been exciting to see that version of Neville return and ramp things up further: first there was the thumb to the eye at Mania, and now Neville blatantly getting himself disqualified to avoid dropping the title.
We’ll get Aries vs. Neville III at some point, and given the quality of the first two bouts, that’ll play.
The Hardy Boyz retained the RAW Tag Team Championships against Sheamus and Cesaro
The Hardy Boyz/Hardy Men/Hardy Menz might have won the battle, but Sheamus and Cesaro are here for much more than that. This felt like more than frustration at losing a tag title shot against the veteran duo, and more like Sheamus and Cesaro are fed up with these dudes strolling in at WrestleMania 33 and taking over the tag division that should rightfully be the property of the Mean Muscle Boys (thanks, Danielle Matheson).
What we learned: Sheamus and Cesaro were tremendous as a pair of tall dudes who liked hitting people very hard, and now they are going to be rude as heck about doing it. Plus, they might have broken the Hardyz, or at least got that ball rolling, and getting that iteration of the future Hall of Famers together in WWE would be... wait for it... delightful.
Alexa Bliss defeats Bayley to become RAW Women’s Champion
Alexa Bliss was the second-ever SmackDown Women’s Champion, and the first performer to win the title twice. She’s now the first-ever wrestler to have held both the SmackDown Women’s Championship as well as the RAW Women’s title, thanks to defeating Bayley — clean, I might add — at Payback.
What we learned: There has been some recent concern about Bayley’s in-ring performances, but she and Bliss managed to put on the best show of Alexa’s main-roster career. Fans are likely disappointed that Bayley lost so quickly after cementing herself as the leader of the women’s division on RAW — especially with Charlotte now over on SmackDown — but Alexa is arguably the top overall performer on the brand, and now she’s got the belt to back it up.
Bray Wyatt defeats Randy Orton in the House of Horrors match thanks to a refrigerator and interference from Jinder Mahal
House of Horrors was supremely dumb, but it was the right kind of supremely dumb that featured Randy Orton hearing dolls with Joker makeup talking to him in what looked like an abandoned meth house, a brawl that knocked down walls with horrible wallpaper on them, and eventually, a refrigerator being dropped on top of him.
When the match got back to the ring at the arena, Jinder Mahal and the Singh Brothers stepped in to make sure Orton didn’t get the victory.
What we learned:This was logical story telling and a smart way to play on what SmackDown spent the last two weeks doing. Orton basically ignored Jinder, the number one contender to the WWE World Championship, in favor of responding to a man who wasn’t even on the same show as him anymore in preparation for the House of Horrors match. Jinder responded last week by attacking Orton and stealing the WWE title from him, then showed up again this week to hit him in the face with it. Maybe Orton will pay attention to this very real threat now.

Seth Rollins defeated Samoa Joe and will definitely pay for it later
Seth Rollins spent most of the match in submissions, with Samoa Joe trying to destroy his ability to fight back. Rollins eventually flipped one of those submissions over into a pin, though, and scored the victory. Given Joe’s penchant for destruction and retribution, expect a fiery promo on Monday, possibly delivered while Joe stands on Rollins’ neck.
What we learned: Nothing just yet, other than that Joe hasn’t enacted his plan for revenge and all that means is pain in Seth’s future.
Braun Strowman defeated Roman Reigns
This was perfection. Of course Braun Strowman was going to win this match. He tried to kill Roman Reigns by flipping over the ambulance his earlier attacks had put him into in the first place just a few weeks ago, and Reigns showed up to Payback still limping and with more of his body taped than not. Still, though, we’re so used to Reigns fighting back and winning out of sheer force of will despite whatever pain happens to be wracking his body that the result was still somehow in question.
Reigns wasn’t at 100 percent coming into the match, and after Braun beat the will right out of him in the main event of Payback, he certainly wasn’t in any position to be winning. Strowman was victorious, Reigns looked admirable in defeat, but most importantly, he looked mortal — at least when he’s on the receiving end of a Strowman beatdown, anyway.
What we learned: Roman Reigns nearly defeated Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 31 before Seth Rollins cashed in his Money in the Bank briefcase and stole that victory from him, and Roman has only become more unstoppable since then. Strowman defeating him and making him actively look weakened and vulnerable in the process is something new, and says a lot about what WWE’s plans for the 6-foot-7, 385 pound behemoth are.
