@nobuverse (for Okita)
She should have just waited, whoever was in the simulator could have their time and then leave and then Andrea could go in an indulge herself in her own training. The Avenger's simulations were more self indulgent. Reliving moments from her story, and changing them to go in the direction she felt they should have gone.
Her entire reason for being, her wish for the Grail, to change her story. 'Retcons' had been a word she'd heard mentioned by the staff when it came to comic books, well, she wanted a big Retcon, and the erasure of two writers who's pen had ruined her life.
The thought made her blood boil, and when that happened, she became impulsive, and so rather than wait for whoever was in the combat simulator to finish their business, Avenger simply opened the door and stepped in. Maybe beating up some simulated monsters would take her mind off things.
When she emerges, it appears she's in feudal Japan, meaning whoever was here had to be from that era. That certainly cut down the number of suspects, with the exception of Musashi who was unfortunately no longer in Chaldea...
Damn it, her blood is boiling again.
She needs to hit something, someone, anyone, anything to bring her mood up. As if on cue, an oafish man comes out of nowhere, running, panicked, spear in hand while he's pursued by a group of Samurai in blue haori. The list of suspects for whoever started this simulator once more shrinks.
Avenger slings her web and steals the runaway's spear and quickly jabs the blunt end into his throat, causing him to fall to the ground as a purple lump forms where her blow struck true.
Did she just ruin Okita Souji's fantasy? Who knows, Andrea stands there, hand on her hip and spear in hand as the pursuers stop. "You're welcome." The Avenger grunts. "Playing Feudal Cops and Robbers?"

monte cristo's 14 relics are still so interesting...one of the most powerful things in nasuverse lore is conceptual weapons because of their ability to reverse causality, use an absolute defense armament to defend against the very weapon said to cause total death and even causing head-shattering agony, instill a limit and lifespan and kill even gods, pierce and slice even all that is intangible from destiny, resentment, bond, and karma... theres divine constructs like the Seventh Holy Scripture ciel senpai used against roa.
because the church's doctrine considers cyclical reincarnation one of the sins itself, its specialty, no matter which form it takes, is to kill and shatter someone's Soul itself. in fate world, Dead Apostles dont have much of a hold as it is in tsukihime... but dantes was still able to kill roa with his fires while he was still alive. he was able to utilize Monte Cristo Mythologie - which is connected to the 14 relics - due to sheer determination and burn even heretical reincarnation itself.
he was able to burn sin itself (im unsure if this refers to ALL sin that the Holy Church doesnt allow or if its specific?)...and considering the assembly of eight sacraments agency, thats definitely one of the relics that should be secured into their hold at all costs. more so with the 14 relics because if Monte Cristo Mythologie is what we see as the output because we see dantes' fire become flames of purification due to its legend that it is definitely related to Jesus Christ, then the 14 stones act as the absolute converter/enforcer that seizes the user's Crest and remakes their "software".
just like ciel senpai, the body would need a certain level of strength like life force and the amount of mana you need and "specs" because its the "hardware" itself to withstand even wielding the Seventh Holy Scripture, even more so when going in for the kill.
dantes wasn't able to utilize his flames even if he has them all along during when he was alive, but he was still able to use it for a very brief moment. because the human body is limited, he would never be able to use it constantly. UNLESS a drastic change happens where his "hardware" and shell is discarded and remade anew, his body is converted and elevated into something less human and more godlike....
moreover, dantes is the absolute perfect candidate because he fulfills all conditions for the 14 relics to be activated- and then he can use Monte Cristo Myth. one of the conditions to fulfill this is the requirement for those 'illusory organs' no average or any human should have. and he was able to use MCM because of what he had witnessed in life. when alive, it was brief, when a Servant now, he can use it constantly because he is not-no longer edmond dantes, saved by love/or from the whole book/same dantes alive. hes the dantes who is mostly the parts where hes the absolute Avenger imbued with the potential to be a demon pillar vessel. so his body now as a Servant was perfect to use and fully remake his being using the 14 relics.
the utilization of the 14 jewels changed "Cavern King Edmond Dantes" entirely. unlike when compared to "when he was alive". this time, his body could finally handle the 14 relics' burden of change enforced onto him. because it seized his Circuits and Crest and install a completely new one (compared to last time in tarantella's battle; his circuits changed but not fully thats why we still have OG dantes base??) that would make him use those poisonous fires taken to its most absolute form, that man was changed- his original Spirit Origin was perfect for the 14 relics now and dantes chose to use them for Avenger Ordeal Call, and ONE OF THE ASPECTS and new information revealed was that it can transform the user into something else entirely. because he is no longer edmond dantes in almost every sense of the word. yes that name is still related and is the origin, but for that Saint Graph, he's a god of revenge entirely but ALSO he is now SOMEONE WHO COMMANDS FLAMES AND FIRES itself... as someone who controls it, it makes sense he would also be harmed from the sheer intensity of his power. and the burden that comes along using the 14 relics!!! DO YOU UNDERSTAND!? DO YOU UNDERSTAND AAAHH
HIS TRUE NAME IS ACTUALLY "KING OF FLAME, COUNT OF MONTE CRISTO"
#fgo#sorry this is all speculation based on my insanity and the voices in my head#fate grand order#edmond dantes

i appreciate the time you put into this but if youre going to make a note that youre using older ushi you should be vetting character ages better, youve got mordred who says hes 16 during camelot and gareth whos his younger sister, the nobu whos in their early teens (changed to older teens in NA profiles but it still says early in JP and koha-ace), marie who says shes 14 in orleans...i hope this doesnt come off as weird im just concerned about the one note and dont know if you just dont know about the rest? or if i should just steer clear. and thought i should say something while round 1 is going on and its fixable...
I was going to make a post prior to the tournament but no one really reads my announcement posts especially once a poll round starts lol but this is a submission based poll from other tumblr users and my only rule was no children like Jack, prisma illya stuff, lily units, visual designs that are elementary, etc. I'm not denying there are other teenage submissions in this tourney, I'm very much aware.
Ushi has multiple different looking art for different looking ages (summer, avenger) and not every servant like Mordred has an official older looking self. If I can, I also wanted to have characters shown at their most well known design which is why I have 17 year old Rin, Shirou, etc for clarity sake for people not super familiar with the nasuverse so even they can be like "oh yeah that character I remember seeing them before". Mash and Guda are considered forever minors no matter how much time passes lol. Marie in fgo makes quite of few statements about her kids as a loving mom. Lasagna deciding to give her a 14 year old body was literally out of our control but I'm going to simply disregard Lasagna age canon and view her as the adult she died as and not be weird about it, please understand. For Ushi, it wasn't my intention to be weird about her. I winged it and made the conscious decision to have her as an adult since she does have so many different and good sprites and official art. I have a transparent Rider Ushi in her background for clarity for those that only do know her as Rider.
I run this blog with the assumption we're all responsible adults here and we're not going to be weird about fictional characters to the same severity that we treat irl people. Fate, Tsukihime, etc are porn works, there's nothing wrong with that clearly, but serious and non-serious sexual acts with characters under 18 do happen and some of the characters submitted in this tourney are under 18 but I'm choosing not to be weird or a creepy about it so please don't think I have sus intentions with this tourney. This is a silly tourney theme that was selected and voted for. I'm just hosting it to the best of my ability while being respectful and fair as I can (sorry avicebron for the queen medb matchup, literally somebody had to go against her ;n;).

"I mean, that's an interesting way of looking at it." She hadn't really thought of it that way, if the comic was a writer's way of peering into the her world, maybe there was some grain of truth to Deadpool's insanity.
"Still gonna find out where these Dan Slott and Mike Costa guys live so I can egg their houses." There was a cheeky grin on her pierced lips as she curled up with Fujino, her wish still to have the story referred to as Venom Inc changed.
The things that happened to her in that book, the things taken from her, the parts of her that were violated, and knowing it was because two men wrote it to be so. She wanted justice, for herself and for Mania.
"So does this game have multiplayer?" She asked, pecking Fujino's cheek.
Fujino gently stroked Andi's hair as she rested against her. Guilt was still eating at her, but at least the Servant knew she had someone who would care about her and give her something to live for.
"You always had free will. From this side it may look like writers influenced your actions, but from your end who's to say your actions didn't drive their hands?" It could be considered empty platitudes, but it was a possibility nonetheless. Given how alternate timelines and universes work especially in comics, it could be possible that there was some kind of psychic or cosmic connection between the writers where they merely saw the events of Andi and the other Marvel heroes and just recorded them as is, warts and all.

Apparently, it's possible to become a Beast totally unwillingly! It's revealed that Camazotz, the Bat God that's been antagonizing Chaldea in LB7, used to be a human king but after ORT began attacking, all of humanity (and I mean ALL of it) collectively sacrificed themselves to grant him the power to defeat it so at least other lifeforms can continue living on Earth, (of which he actually did, but it took him millions of years and only managed to put it in a dormant state by tearing out its heart). This granted him total immortality and the Beast Class as the Beast of Oblivion, despite him not wanting it and wishing to fight for humanity's survival/last wishes. In essence, he became a Beast despite wishing for humanity's survival and whose very "birth" rendered humanity extinct. Ironically, he's also the only Beast that technically succeeded in destroying humanity despite wanting its survival.
Utterly fascinating. To reiterate for anyone reading this who doesn't know what we're talking about- Beasts are a class of 'Servant' in the Nasuverse that embody certain sins (not the usual Christians but ones like Pity, Regression and Retribution). Much like any other Servant, the Beast class cannot be attained by just anyone and has certain requirements that must be met in order to acquire the class. For Beasts, this is twofold- a love for humanity and a drive to destroy it stemming from that love. For example, Beast II wanted to destroy humanity because in myth they rejected her love and she can't let go of them.
Now, anyone familiar with the Nasuverse should know that the rules of the setting...aren't as hard set as the writing makes them appear to be. In the case of Servants, people can qualify for certain Classes out of technicalities, like a famous hero being summoned as a Saber despite not being known as a swordsman just because he has a sword. Even Beasts are subject to this. One of the Beasts, Beast III/R, became one even though she didn't love humanity. She did this by defining humanity to mean just herself, thus allowing her to skirt the system.
Camatoz seems to be the inverse of this. Whereas Beast III/R was a Beast that lacked a love for humanity, Camatoz never had a drive to do destroy them. If I had to guess, the qualification for the Beast Class might not be 'a drive to destroy humanity' but 'the cause of humanity's demise' instead. He even still embodies a sin of mankind- the willingness to die and be forgotten, despite how counterintutive that is. It's also ironic in a sad way. The Beasts all tried to destroy humanity because they lacked something to truly understand mankind and what was best for them. Camatoz likely did know what was best for them. And yet he's the only Beast to have technically killed humanity.
To be honest- I wasn't really a fan of Camatoz. He's not my type (I prefer guys like Arthur) and his introduction was him near fatally wounding and mentally violating the innocent Kingprotea. I was just waiting for his humiliating end. But leave to Nasu- I feel bad for the guy. The Beast Class must be like the Avenger class cracked up to 11 and beyond. It has to be hell on him to exist in that class alone, even ignoring the guilt he must feel for being the last remnant of humanity. And yet he still fought on to honor their wishes, which while something you shouldn't emulate is still a noble one. And any guy willing to face down ORT for millions of years for any reason, let alone one as thankless as that, has my respect.

It's Our Anniversary
Do you know what today is? It's been a clean minute since I've checked in about the whole FGO thing and, i must say, sh*t is progressing nicely. Azur Lane has had some events, too, finally got a few new Iron Blood ships, but I'll touch on those later. Right now, I'm mildly obsessed with my Fate situation and i kind of want to gush about it a little bit. Last time i updated, i had just popped my Jaques de Molay on a whim. that was a hell of a run but there have been gains since then. Gains that i feel compelled to gush over.
The Grind
Mordred is another step closer to perfection. Anther step closer to where she was when i lost her the first time. The Seventh Anni event is happening and, if you have thirty pay quarts, you can use them to summon a guaranteed Five-Star from a selection of Servants you choose. I am lousy with Sabers so i just chose Mo on a whim. She popped. A little sad as that meant i missed out on Melusine (she's my white whale now, i guess), Semiramis, and Demon Nobu, but i did add another Noble Phantasm level Mordred, bringing her to level three. I'm one dupe away from where she was last time and two away from perfecting her. I've also maxed out both of her Buster Cards and am about one hundred short on her Quick card. Still a LONG way off from her level growing, i keep getting other Servants worth the Experience cards, but I'll lock into that eventually. I'm so close to finishing Mordred, it's getting me itchy!
The Drought is Over
In literally the last two months since i last updated, i find myself swimming in Five-Star Servants AND they're not f*cking Sabers! I wouldn't complaining if they were but, f*ck, is it hard to diversify in this game in terms of Gold Servants. I ended up throwing a ton of Grails at Four-Stars to kind of shore up the ranks but then the flood gates opened and i ended up with enough Five-Stars to build several Support teams. Sh*t was cash, man. I now have eighteen of these elusive f*ckers, a far cry from the measly nine (four of which were Sabers) when i first started. I have at least one Five-Star for every Main Class except Berserker, two Rulers, a Moon Cancer, and my lone Foreigner. Wish i had an Avenger but I'm good with what is on deck.
Four Star General
I actually have two Avengers, Gorgon and Lobo, they're just Four-Stars. I am absolutely LOUSY with Four-Star Servants. I have thirty-five of the f*cking things and around sixty or so total. I tend to burn anything less than Four-Stars because those cards are generally useless, especially in the late game. That said, the bulk of my army are bolstered Fours. Thirteen of them have been leveled up to ninety, i have Grails to spare, strictly because i needed more firepower and like those characters. Obviously, Barghest and Grey got that treatment the second i added them to my ranks, but so did Yu Meiren and Daikouten. Both of them are underrated as f*ck for their Class. Also, Frankenstein's Monster (her name is actually Eve but cool) because i don't still don't have a Five-Star Berserker yet!
Crimson Moon
I rarely speak on this because i generally enjoy the Fate franchise much more, but i got into the Throne of Heroes through Tsukihime. I was aware of Type-Moon because of Shiki and his doomed romance with Type-Moon, herself. Arcueid is one of my favorite characters in all of the Nasuverse so having an opportunity to add her to my my roster was a no-brainer for me. Obviously, i made a run at that banner, which was dope because i had just been gifted something like two hundred Saint Quartz or some sh*t. It took two thirty-pulls but she popped and i an stoked. Already got her to the third Ascension and currently grinding for Experience cards. I'm tempted to try a dupe run at her banner but i kind of don't want to waste anymore Quartz at the moment. Still, two rolls for a Five-Star off a banner is pretty dope.
Picnic Panic
I was also able to Max Limit my Chaldea Lunchtime Craft Essence. This anniversary celebration just showered me with sh*t i could use to bolster my entire situation. I ended up with a couple extra thousand Mana Prisms and immediately cashed those out. I only had two Lunchtimes left to get and had been putting it off because i wouldn't justify the expense. Well, today that cost was worth it because i realized i didn't need to actually level the Craft Essences up AND limit Break them in order to get the bonus. I completely forgot it's just the latter which matters. All five of those f*ckers fused to give me a beautiful ten percent bonus to my Bond Points at the end of battle and i love it. Should put a much needed dent into the slow crawl to Bond level Fifteen. I wish we could do multiple, though. Five max level Lunchtimes would be dope as sh*t!
Back to One
Years ago, way back when FGO first released in the NA territory, those that signed up were gifted Saber Lily on top of your free Four-Star roll. I pulled Lancer Eli but that has nothing to do with anything. Anyway, when i lost my account, it became relatively clear to me that reclaiming Lily was going to be a problem. I only ever saw her on Banners and i wasn't abut to waste Quartz on arguably the weakest Saberface in the game. Still, nostalgia called and i just kind of went about my life, lamenting how stupid it is we still can't link accounts to our Goggle accounts or an email somewhere. That is until i popped her on a Friends Point Summon. I didn't even know you could get Gold Servants out of that welfare dump! It was an unexpected surprise and something else i can cross off my list, even though i had no intentions of earnestly pursuing.
Somebody Save Me
Interestingly enough, the same day i rolled Lily, i was able to get Ruler Jeanne. First and oldest Ruler in the game! Useless to my style of play but still appreciated, nonetheless. Obviously, if i had to choose a Jeanne, I'd want JAlter but, way back when i was a youngin' in the world of Grand Orders, the advertisements did a great job of selling me on the "new" Class. Saber Artoria, Mash, and Ruler Jeanne, were the cover girls of this new game and they were everywhere. Jeanne took a strong position as kind of the selling point for longtime Nasu fans. I think it was the first time we got extended time with the character and Class. Apocrypha was a few weeks from release and, unless you were a total weeb, you had no idea the Apocrypha novels existed. Ruler was brand new and super dope looking. Everyone wanted to have a spin with her. And then Apocrypha came out. I don't remember her reception back then because Mordred existed and i didn't care anymore.

“Not the Master, I just work here.” Avenger had originally had her arms crossed, but soon unfolded them, placing one hand on her hip while letting the other hang at her side. “They’ve been going a little summon crazy lately, think they burned up too much energy and are taking a power nap, you’re the latest arrival.”
“Which means it’s my job to give you the grand tour. I’m Avenger.”
@symbioteburnout liked the Saber Alter Starter call
"Are you the one who summoned me? Are you my master? You don't look like a mage, but you are the only one around," Salter stared down the other. The Dark King of Knights had no clue why she was summoned.

Astrea dead pissed me off with that impartial judge talk in Atlantis,,,, like if you don't wanna help just say that don't hide behind your class, especially if you see someone at a disadvantage that literally goes against what your class is meant for,,, why were you even here if not to info dump and dip?
Which leads to my next point—I hate Ruler Jeanne and Astrea because they use their class to excuse their impartiality in situations where being impartial is fucking useless? Apoc!Jeanne had a little "country girl, will chase you with a sword if you interfere don't fw me" vibe but Fgo!Jeanne is the most flavorless mf on the planet that you forget she exists outside of Jalter.
Which is sad because I like the idea of Jeanne being the embodiment of what people thought she was, someone far removed from human error and so saintly that the idea of being friends feels wrong, like your actively tainting her by breathing in her direction which leaves her lonelier than she should be....
I have nothing to say about Astrea as a character simply bc I don't care for pseudo servants that aren't treated like the vessels of the Gods and just an excuse to say "Hey look it's a fate character that's outside of fgo!"
Bazette should've been summonable without the need to bullshit and grab a celtic god.... she has a noble phantasm as a normal human she might as well have a slot in the Throne for that.
Agreed Bazzett got screwed by pseudo garbage
can't speak for Lady Reines event and whatever pseudo crap was going on there but I can 110% speak for the Atlantis Astraea bit, so
I am now going to have a very long discussion of what the Ruler class is and how it is fundamentally misunderstood - TLDR, Ruler servants are not supposed to be likable or even benevolent. It's not a matter of hiding behind a class, it's a matter of the class's inherent disposition being one of stagnation, the same way madness is inherent to the Berserker or suffering to the Avenger.
Remember when I responded to this ask about about why Avenger-adjacent characters are so compelling? To restate and directly jump off from it:
"Astraea the impartial god, Qin Shi Huang the mechanical 'one true human', Jeanne the inhumanly pure Saint, even Sherlock who is so rational in his thinking that it goes from sensible to a lack of empathy, all of these are examples of how the Ruler is marked by an explicit lack of humanity that directly results from them lacking the most human quality there is: Desire. The ability to want something, to strive towards something, to truly care about something for reasons beyond cold logic, to act in a sense of being morally right or wrong, is a concept antithetical to the class itself."
And I guess now I have an excuse to elaborate on this. I'll use both Astraea and Jeanne as case studies, starting with Astraea (Or at least her only canon role of Olympus; haven't done Reines but given it's status as focusing on Nasuverse OCs rather than the actual servants, it shouldnt matter)
Astraea is our enemy in Lostbelt 5. She may claim otherwise, but she is our enemy, not our ally or "guide". She is vain, unfeeling, and inhuman. Why do I say that? Because her priority is maintaining impartiality at all costs. Despite her human host, despite not being a proper lostbelt servant, despite having every reason to help us, she refuses to do so directly on the ground of "impartiality". She is an obstacle in our way, because she would rather be opposed to everyone to allied to anyone, all in the name of her "role".
Compare this to Jeanne at the start of Apocrypha. Familiar, isn't it? The "Protector" who regulated bloodshed. The "Rebel" who adhered to a corrupted system. The "Saint" who would watch Children die. (#AtalanteDidNothingWrongTM). Jeanne, until Sieg came along, was a villain. A slave to the Holy Grail. A lie concocted to enforce rules unquestioningly. The Ruler Class is not one of justice, but one of arbitration, and none embody that more than Jeanne, whose only motive at first was to uphold a status quo even though her life was devoted to the exact opposite. Key words, at first. But what caused her to change? Was it Amakusa's interference? Was it the requests of the servants under her watchful eye? Was it her sense of justice seeing the potential for disaster if Amakusa or Darnic succeeded? No. No. And No. It was a random innocent life completely removed from all matters servant-related being swept up into the events of the grail war that made her question herself. Only when something so pure a blank slate began to suffer did she so much as question herself, and even then she could not accept that until Shakespeare completely broke her with ease. Shakespeare who was described as the worst possible opponent for Jeanne. Do you know why that is? Because he is everything she is not. He seeks emotions, he seeks plot twists, he seeks performances, he seeks the greatest story ever told, he seeks change. Jeanne is exactly the kind of person he can play like a fiddle: A fool dancing on strings. Because that's what the ruler class is, a puppet to the grail's sense of order. A slave to the status quo. Devoid of emotion for the sake of keeping up this idea for impartiality.
I want to highlight something you said
"they use their class to excuse their impartiality in situations where being impartial is fucking useless"
That's exactly the point. That's why the Ruler class is antithetical to humanity. It is the concept of balance regardless of what the balance achieves. But in life there is no absolute good and absolute evil. There is no universal set of rules you can apply to everything - life is too unique and too nuanced. But the Ruler class revolves around the idea of absolutes, of a set of rules you can never break under any circumstance, a sense of perfect order. But you cannot be an arbiter in a system that is inherently arbitrary. Look at the list of ruler servants. Not only are there noticeably a LOT of them by extra class standards, but the majority of non-gag event characters who qualify are very explicitly villains. Out of Jeanne D'arc, Sherlock Holmes, Astraea, Qin Shi Huang, Amakusa, Karl der Große, Young Moriarty, Zeus, BB, and Morgan, all but the first 3 of those are major villains. Now look at ALL of them. Ruler Moriarty and his obsession with academic rigor, Zeus and his stagnation, BB's role of judge jury and executioner in a programmed system, Karl's goal of complete unity at the cost of free will, Amakusa's desire for much the same, (Even some gag examples such as Quetz's godly inability to comprehend humanity through anything but physical exertion!) Qin Shi Huang discarding his humanity for complete order, etc.
And that's what it all boils down to. A lack of any humanity, living as a drone for their role. That's why the Ruler is opposite the Avenger, because if the Avenger is an embodiment of pure humanity, than the Ruler is defined by their lack of true humanity.

Avenger Andrea would definitely wanna learn more about the Catholic Saints in Chaldea (specially Jeanne, Martha, and Giorgios).
But given that she too is a delinquent heroic spirit, I can't help but imagine she'd also be one of the ones driving Martha batty along with Mordred and Caenis xD
#outofsymbiotes(ooc)#[[Servant AVENGER | Nasuverse]]#Andi vc: i said a bad word around the kids and Martha threw Tarasque at me...

@worldofdawn continued (x)
She turned her back in order to give the Demi-Servant some privacy while she found her shirt. Avenger always found Mash very demur and timid, but it seemed that Ritsuka had definitely been ‘corrupting’ her as it were. Mash didn’t seem the type who normally sent nudes.
“I was originally looking for Master, but I’m guessing they’re somewhere else in the compound?” That or on a Rayshift...
“I was going to go to the simulator, apparently one of the techies made a simulation of one of my comics and wanted me to try it out... Maybe you can come along and be a stand-in for Captain America?”

Help For Getting Into The Fate Franchise
So I saw a video ripping on people talking about getting into the Fate franchise. So I guess I wanted to throw in my opinion.
Let’s Be Real
There is no neat way of getting into the Fate franchise. Partially because it was built on top of a backstory that was written second (Fate/Zero), partially because Fate itself is a part of a wider group of works written by Kinko Natsu. Because of this, it’s really intimidating at the face of it. However it’s actually easier to get into than it seems.
Long but fruitful
Play the visual novel. It’s a 60-100 hour affair but it’s the original work with nothing else really complicating things. Even the few other Nasuverse concepts in there get explained and you’ll be given the best basis to understand things. It doesn’t have an OFFICAL English translation...but that’s never stopped people. I think Mirror Moon’s Realta Nue translation is the best. You don’t get the sex scenes but from what I’ve heard, they weren’t that good in the first place.
... Yeah about that-
Fate/Stay Night is in fact originally an eroge or visual novel with sex scenes. The franchise mostly moves away from that but it explains some...oddities. And yes, that means the doujins are using canonical info to justify the copious amounts of sex.
Short but flawed
Watch UFOTABLE’s Fate/Zero / Unlimited Blade Works anime adaptations. Which ever first really. They demand less of a commitment and you can even watch it and do something small on the side. Issue is, these two kind of overlap on each other. Fate/Zero spoils the Heaven’s Feel movies but UBW spoils Fate/Zero. You’re kind of fucked no matter what you do so you just kind of tank the spoilers if the Visual Novel just isn’t feasible.
All I can definitively say is watch the Heaven’s Feel movies last because they seem structured as one big finale. And even then you can still justify watching Fate/Zero last.
Okay, what now?
Watch/read/play whatever. Unless it’s a direct continuation of a previous Fate property (like Fate/Extella is a sequel to Fate/EXTRA)- Most Fate properties require at most what I listed above.
Fate/Hollow Atraxia is the psuedo sequel to FSN and deals with certain elements that don’t get explored much in other works (Like the character Avenger).
Fate/EXTRA plays off your expectations from Fate/Stay Night and the games can be kind of enjoyable (from what I hear).
Fate/Apocrypha is an alternate universe that focuses on large scale fights and has fan favorites like Karna or Astolfo.
Fate/Strange Fake is basically porn for Fate fans.
Fate/Prototype is an interesting look into....well...the prototype for FSN
Fate/Requiem...you’ll have to tell me about because I can’t find too much info on it.
Fate/Grand Order is like a giant expensive porn store for Fate fans (...by that I mean it introduces, expands upon and deals with a fuckton of important characters to the Nasuverse but is a gacha game which is a format that varies from person to person).
Just choose one after your intro, you can’t really go wrong.
Okay...but why do so many of these characters look alike?
*Sigh* Two words: Takashi Takeuchi.
He’s the character designer from FSN who really likes to draw the Saber Class servant from that game. Because of that (along with Saber being incredibly profitable)- some characters get her likeness.
I’ll run through them with you quick. (spoilers)
Saber- Wears a blue ballgown dress. Is King Arthur name Arturia(Artoria/Altria) If the name ‘Saber’ is brought up by a fan, it likely refers to her.
Saber Alter - Pale, corrupted version of Saber. Treated as a different character that is based off her. Not a villain.
Arturia Lancer - Grown up version of Saber. Another alternate version that uses King Arthur’s spear. For more info on her, see Fate/Grand Order and it’s Camelot SIngularity.
Arturia Lancer Alter - Same deal as the previous Alter. Is based on the myth of King Arthur being a member of the wild hunt. Sadly mostly used for boob jokes.
Red Saber - wears a red version of Arturia’s dress. Is Emperor Nero. Basically made that way because Fate/EXTRA is fanservice in more ways than one. Possibly an ancestor to Arturia.
Saber of Red - Different character. Usually seen in a red and grey suit of armor, has messier hair. Is Mordred from Arthurian myth. Takes after the versions that portray him as a villain (...kind of). Is an artificial clone of her father. Long story short- Merlin created the first futa and Morgan Le Fay did what she does best.
Mysterious Heroine X/Mysterious Heroine XX- Joke characters making fun of the number of Saberfaces (characters that look like Arturia). Alternate version of Arturia.
Okita Souji/Sakura Saber- Another Joke character at the Saberface deal. Looking like Arturia never seems to be mentioned. Used more for jokes around how sick her real life counterpart was.
Proto-Saber- Arthur Pendragon. Is effectively the OG Arturia, was suppose to be a thing before the original duo’s genders got switched. Least likely to cause confusion.
There, NOW you should be ready....for the basics. EVerything else is up to you.

What eight Servants you want to see added to the series (one of each class counting all the extras as one)?
Sorry for the delay. I had answers ready for quite a few of the classes but the ones I didn’t were real tough picks.
Saber: Momotarou
Momotarou is up there with Kintarou and Urashima Tarou as Japan’s most popular children’s folklore character. Kintarou is already present in FGO as Sakata Kintoki and Urashima is at least referenced with Ryuugu being an area in Agartha, but there’s no mention of Momotarou yet. And how would he mesh with Nasuverse lore? Momotarou is a super powerful boy born from a peach. A fruit person from Japan.
[Lostbelt 3 spoilers] Yu Meiren is a tianxian, an immortal being functionally identical to a True Ancestor. And she often references the fact she was born from the Fusang Tree in Japan. Implying tianxian, and maybe even actual True Ancenstors are also fruit people from Japan. I want Momotarou as a True Ancestor.
I actually already wrote a sheet for this one.
Archer: Lampião
Fate/ currently has a grand total of 0 Brazilian heroes in its Servant roster and that’s definitely a thing I want changed (Lostbelt 7, please...). At this point I think I’d be ok with absolutely any Brazilian hero, but if you asked which I want the most, my answer would easily be Lampião. Though my biggest fear is that they design him without his glasses.
I still haven’t written my own sheet for Lampião yet, but I have it complete in my head for maybe over an year. The glasses are a Noble Phantasm and he gushes about each others glasses with Sigurd.
Lancer: Odin
I’ll admit I picked this one only to fill all Classes and don’t actually have any real ideas for a Lancer. Sorry. At least we have a lot of implications for a canon Odin taking a super important role in FGO soon.
(Grand) Rider: Santa Claus
Grand Servants are designed to counter Beasts. I is a magic formula, so Grand Caster is the mage who can fix it. II is life, so Grand Assassin is death. Both versions of III use overpowered mental attacks that affect any rational being, so Grand Berserker is not rational. V is a fox, so Grand Archer is a hunter. VI is being hunted by Arthur, who is fine candidate for Grand Saber. VII erased everything on Earth, so Grand Lancer is the builder of civilization.
By process of elimination, Grand Rider should be someone who can handle IV, Fou. Fou is the Beast of Comparision, a being who thrives and grows from competition. He gets agitated when challenged by others, but I can only remember 3 instances of him getting aggressive with someone completely unprovoked. Against Merlin, against Napoleon, and against Jinako (once). That’s the kingmaker, a dude literally made of hopes and dreams, and the remover of obstacles, respectively. Three huge facilitators for mankind. Beings who exist to let humanity dream for no real cost.
Jinako’s case is the most interesting because Fou immediately stops being violent once he sees Jinako’s lazy, unhelpful personality. It’s like Fou can tell she won’t be an obstacle to strife and fair competition. That’s the bit that makes me feel really confident about my read on Fou.
Anyways, we established that Fou’s natural enemies are the facilitators, and who is the biggest facilitator of them all? Yes, Santa Claus, Saint Nicholas himself. The Rider grand enough to run his sled through the entire world on a single night, distributing free dreams for the good children of humanity. I want him to tag along with all the meme Santa Servants from the Christmas events to dunk on Fou if he turns evil.
Caster: Toriyama Sekien
Toriyama Sekien is a Japanese artist famous for publishing a series of artbooks titled Gazu Hyakki Yagyou. Youkais used to formless monsters, vaguely described, with their true appearance being defined by the listener’s fears. This changed when Sekien published his Gazu Hyakki Yagyou, which was sort of a Pokédex where he published his illustrations of an youkai, along with its legends and description. All images you know of youkais are based on the designs Sekien created for his Pokédex.
The first volume of his series contained all the famous and popular youkais. The second volume also contained many famous, but a few very obscure ones. And then the third and fourth are filled with very few verifiably obscure youkais and most of them so obscure that they had no known sources aside from GHY itself. Because of this, Toriyama is rumored to have given up on researching obscure youkai by his 3rd artbook and started making his own youkai up for money.
Now let’s talk Type-Moon lore. In Shimousa there’s an explanation for the different types of oni and one of the categories there is onis from stories. Demonic beings who only came to exist because humanity believe they existed. This ties in very nicely to the idea that Sekien was making youkai up to fill all the slots in his Pokédex. By the way, in Osakabehime’s mats, her source is not listed as “Japanese mythology”, but as the second volume of Gazu Hyakki Yagyou, which implies Higashide also subscribes to the idea Sekien is creating youkais in-universe and Osakabehime was potentially Sekien’s first OC.
Assassin: Agatha Christie
I just think writer Servants outside of the Caster class are neat, and want Fate/ to turn the topic of my research paper into my next waifu. I have cool ideas for her Noble Phantasms, but I won’t comment on them here because I want to get her Servant sheet posted soon.
Berserker: Gilgamesh
Another pack filler like Odin, sorry. We already Gilgamesh before his journey to the netherworld as Archer and after it as Caster, so I just think a nice new take on Gil would be making him Mad Enhanced into believing he’s still stuck in the netherworld. It’s the one point of his life where he completely cast away his pride, and struggled to the point of crawling and eating dirt to survive. A constantly panicky and pragmatic Gilgamesh would be a nice new side of Gilgamesh to see, with an amazing contrast with his three other forms.
Extra Class (Avenger): Kohaku
It’s no secret that Kohaku is my favorite fictional character ever and I wouldn’t hesitate to whale for her ifwhen we get a Tsukihime event. She could work as an Assassin, but I picked Avenger instead because I’m an emotional masochist, and love her for how she makes me suffer. Kohaku is a tortured empath who operated a revenge plan, but through all of that she could never bring herself to truly hate her abusers because she understand better than anyone that Tsukihime is a tragedy where absolutely everyone is a victim. So her Oblivion Correction would just make her relive the worst moments of her life, trying to force upon her a hatred that doesn’t fit anywhere in her empathic heart. Avenger Kohaku is not even made a character yet, and she’s already on the verge of making me cry.
On alternate take, Kohaku technically participated in a Grail War with Okita on Koha-Ace, so she theoretically should qualify as a vessel for a Pseudo-Servant. I’d place her as a good vessel for Prometheus. They both remembered mostly as tricksters, and accepted to be subjects of scheduled torture to protect someone they cared for and allow them to grow up free and healthily.
