Guys hear me out please . The reason their hair is like this (especially after Clay's was straight when younger) is because of Viva! Her tendency to braid people's hair isn't touched on in the movie besides "it means I like you" so here I am with a whiteboard and a fresh expo marker

As someone who has its fair share of anxiety and regular Bad Thoughts, I reach up to my hair all the time to fidget. It's great, I'm native so it's thick and tough, and without even thinking I can twirl or tie it around for HOURS. If I have media playing I can zone out in, I can play with other people's hair for hours as well and I won't feel any ache in my wrists or anything

Vivas hair is more erratic than Clay's, so I figure that after the great Bergen attack, she would ground herself by reaching up and digging her fingers through her hair, stressing it out and fraying it so it no longer stuck up straight like pop troll hair seems inclined to do, and one day after zoning in from perhaps an anxiety attack or calming herself from a bad nightmare, she'd find the handful of hair she had grabbed was braided. Happens to me more often than I could even count, when it's bad my bangs will just end up braided or tied into a weird knot without me consciously doing it. And since braiding hair takes slightly more effort than just pulling or twisting it, she'd start intentionally braiding her hair in sections as a stress reliever and calming method

Of course over time it would become second nature, we can see how fast she braids Poppy and Branchs hair in the movie (Poppy braids hers as well, but Poppy only did a few small sections vs Viva doing their entire head and VERY neatly) so asking people she trusts to braid their hair as both a way to spend time with them and an even better way to help quell her anxiety (I like body doubling so I might just be projecting) and since Clay is absolutely her best friend, whether you think DreamWorks tried to imply romance or not, he would be the most common "victim" of Vivas braiding and so over the course of two decades their hair has just become accustomed to bring braided and so it's wild like this.

MENTAL ETC

boy has autism. i'd say level 1 . big sensory issues & needs VERY LIMITED amounts of input. poppy helps desensitize him but. i like to imagine him with little sunglasses & headphones. a little odd socially too . he was always an outcast but you know what? we ball . he balled. he made it.

it's MY headcanon so i get to assign him a delicious dash of paranoia. maybe ppd? probably not ppd. but still very paranoid. ocd perhaps or severe gad at the very least. he thinks everything will kill him or is against him, severely. he tends to isolate when he's nervous. he copes by talking things out with poppy who is always so understanding & encouraging of him to try new things. they r in love <3

severe depression, pdd or mdd . he has to take medication [do trolls have medication. probably. it's , uh, holistic] but poppy always reminds him & makes sure he's on track

ptsd from the abandonment & grandma thing. sorry singing killed your grandma brother.

totally has meltdowns from overstimulation & poppy just. takes him to a dark quiet room & he thrives in there .

john dory - big 'i hate you... bro' type of relationship. they don't get along but they respect each other. if my opinion of john dory changes maybe they will get along better. not now though/

bruce - COOL OLDER BROTHER!!!! branch looks up to him but he really also looks up to branch like.... bro survived on his own like that.....:cry: they are a little awkward sometimes but bond over engaging in activities together

clay - "hey buddy" "hey pal" ":}" ":}" very chill around each other. just calm. clay has similar symptoms in his autism so they get each other

floyd - besties for life... as much as he;d never admit it branch is So emotional so they talk things over & bond over deeper things like trauma & missing family. they are besties GENERAL

gets greyer some days & poppy ALWAYS makes an extra effort on those days to make sure he knows he's loved

hates the sensation of sneezing so much that he chooses to avoid new flowers/textures in case of allergies/dust [autism, baby]

can't really sleep. struggles with feeling alone at night but if he's with poppy he feels. odd & strange. why is there Somebody in my bed ?!

because of that last one he just passes out everywhere. boy is the eeper for real

had a crush on poppy the whole time since movie 1.

gets very destructive when overwhelmed. like. screaming crying yelling hitting. but! poppy did a seminar on neurodiversity for those guys in there so they . kind of get it. they help branch not to get overwhelmed

Trolls lore headcanon time! (Featuring Branch, Clay, and Viva)

Branch had already been dealing with predators wanting to attack Pop Village for a while now.

Post Trolls (2016) he’s added alarms so that if there is something attacking he can be there and post TWT he’s gotten Poppy to agree with getting a more official defense system going and other trolls have volunteered to help. He unfortunately doesn’t have much experience training other trolls and more often than not continues to handle most physical conflicts on his own with occasional help.

Post TBT the putt putt trolls were originally gonna be their own thing per Viva’s request and while Poppy was sad she respected the fact Viva made herself home there. Unfortunately they didn’t know that the Bergens had seriously branched out outside of Bergen Town and the putt putt course was on country territory.

This would have been very bad considering the alliance that Poppy had worked for with the other tribes and although Delta was more accepting now a days this would definitely be an insult to the country trolls who predominantly held a grudge and a fight could break out.

Poppy had to explain this to Viva and then again to the Putt Putt trolls who on one hand, understood the situation, but on the other did not feel 100% comfortable living in a village that had erased them from history.

This lead to both Peppy making an official apology to both the putt putt trolls and the village trolls and Poppy admitting to the fact that her predecessor were far from perfect and how she’s working towards a better and honest future.

The Pop Trolls definitely had concerns concerning the mount rageons. Branch decided to share his power of head of defense with Clay and Viva so they could all work together to upgrade security. Branch’s strength in understanding the forest and it’s patterns, Clay in adding safety measures in the village, and Viva in creating an official training regiment for lookouts and guards.

Branch technically still holds the title with Clay being head of safety and Viva head of training/commander but when they need to push for a new idea they rely on Viva throwing in her weight of still being a royal pop troll.

eyes are the windows to the soul. vox makes so much eye contact with everyone always that it probably feels very weird to anyone who isn't used to it. he spends so much time watching expressions, && being ready to hypnotise someone at a drop of a hat that he doesnt really notice anymore.

once upon a time, if he noticed someone was looking away a lot, he would apologise. now he just grins wider && moves a little to be half - unavoidable.

he might not be able to see your soul in there, but sometimes it probably feels like he does.

essentially an au where bill didn't 'fumble' ford, and essentially doubled down on the long con. he didn't out his plans immediately, and kept it under wraps. gaslit, girl kept, girl bossed.

ford is. unfortunately still very enamored by him, and that doesn't help things in the slightest. they're not formerly a thing but it feels like they are.

fiddleford tried to erase stanford's memory, knowing about bill's plans and regrettably knowing how much bill had ford wrapped around his finger, this was the only way to stop both of them. fidds and ford fought, and ford won, and erased FIDDS' memory in retaliation.

stanford smashed the memory gun not long after doing this, angry at himself. he was emotionally beaten up over losing fiddleford for months, even years--much to bill's annoyance. he won't forgive himself. bill moved the body and that night was a blur.

construction on the portal continues, but things keep happening that are detrimental to its progress. the society of the blind eye is knocking about, making getting resources more of a nightmare, and all around interfering. college grants are in the air having nothing to show for them, and bill is getting irate that somehow, fidds is still somehow getting in the way.

ford is still grieving, and it's in these times that his mind wanders to his brother. he knows full well his muse tells him not to waste time thinking about someone who he should've eaten in the womb, but ford has lost all support systems except bill and he's scrambling for the first semblance of another human being. but there's no one he can trust with his work except his muse.

bill takes note of this. decides to bring stan to gravity falls as a surprise for sixer's own good, but it's really just an underhanded plot to turn ford against his last semblance of a support system. stan knows something's up, but he can't reach his brother basically. something is doing something to him but he can't find the puzzle piece. portal fight breaks out, and ford pushes his own brother into the portal.

the guilt? immeasurable.

ford wishes he hadn't smashed the memory gun. he has intrusive thoughts about that thing, how he wishes he could forget what he's done. but he remembers to hold himself accountable, hold himself to the mark.

meanwhile bill tells ford white lies about how he's looking for his brother with no luck while ford continues to work on the portal. smth smth haven't plotted it in detail, but stan did something to set back the progress (and ford doesnt have fidds degree) and its postponed for another 30 years.

another 30 years with no social contact other than that of a twisted dream demon. the years change stanford into an anxious morbid mess, and though he doesn't really portray sadistic traits like his muse does, he doesn't bat an eye anymore when the other's facade slips.

no metal plate in his head! he's still free possession estate bc he didn't get portal'd in this verse. he couldn't step out of line if he wanted to. if he did.

very much aware of how much power his muse has though. and very wary of the fact that people who speak ill of stanford suffer the worst fate imaginable.

the pines twins come over to visit for the summer, close to the portal's completion. ford knows his muse will probably be upset with him, but it hits hard hearing mabel and dipper's parents arguing over the phone & getting flashbacks to a broken home. he excuses that the twins will be gone by the portal's completion anyway, and that he'll hide everything.

how much damage can two children do? he was a child once. he knows. but he insists he has a handle on it. however, bill isn't too pleased about it, and if ford doesn't handle it, then he will. ford is avoiding that at all costs because ugh god, these kids grow on him.

he has a support system?? he cares about someone other than bill?? these kids fill him with so much joy, and he wants to do all he can to make them happy and inspire them. overall a bit more anxious but in a better mood.

nwhs, stan comes back, and he calls out stanford's bs. a la. 'yo my brother's a cultist' 'whaaa no im not!!' distrust all around

though his relationship is rocky with stan, he cares so much abt those kids, it might be a problem, especially leading up to weirdmageddon.

he is hiding weirdmageddon. like actively. he didn't seal any kind of rift.

miiight have doubts leading up to the finale?? but who knows still plotting

smth smth they have to erase fords memory to stop bill. or this is one of those canon timelines where the pines lost. idk

Trolls Headcannons (Royal Family Edition)

Peppy

°Peppy suffers from some type of memory loss due to PTSD. It got to the point where he had to trust most of the older trolls to help him keep his mind as they all settled in the Pop Forest.

°Peppy started the chant of "No Troll Left Behind" after finding Viva's Hug Time Bracelet in the rubble. He made those who made it out swear to never mention Viva in order to give Poppy only happiness in this new chapter.

°Peppy became protective over his daughters after their mother was chosen as one of the first Trolls of Bergentown's first annual Trollstice. He became even more protective of Poppy after the split™ because of Viva's presumed death.

°Peppy's memory has started fading in and out, making him believe that he went on adventures that didn't happen or didn't happen as he remembered them.

Viva

°Viva is 15 years older than Poppy, being around 16-17 at the time of The Great Escape™ and around 37-38 at the time of their reunion.

°Viva was a huge fan of Brozone prior to the arrival of the Bergens. However, she didn't recognize Clay when he showed up with the rest of the Putt Putt Trolls. She didn't even know his name until they all settled in.

°Viva quickly took up the role as the leader of this new tribe due to her royal training, but was scared. Thankfully, Clay was there to be an amazing assistant and friend. No one will admit it, but she thinks of him as a co-ruler rather than an advisor or an overseer and gives him the same power as her.

°Viva braided her hair out of anxiety, needing something to fidget with in the early days of separation. She also took up knitting and crocheting, making a majority of hers and Clay's clothes.

°Viva is still wary around Bergentown due to all the trauma and mental scarring they put on her. As much as she wants to go with Poppy, she just volunteers to kingdom-sit for however long they'll be gone.

Poppy

°Poppy essentially started ruling at a young age due to her dad's decline in health, being around 10 years old when people started turning to her over her dad. They never really asked for much, but it was quite overwhelming.

°Poppy started scrapbooking after her dad's memory started to go. The little pictures remind him of the history he told her as she grew up, and ultimately became Pop Village's main collection of history books. She did have help editing them after the World Tour.

°Poppy credits most of her big personal changes to being because of Branch. He has been her voice of reason since the beginning, but never really listened until they both gave each other chances.

°Poppy was around 1 or 2 during the Great Escape™, making her around 21 or 22 during the events of the first film and around 22 or 23 during WT and BT.

°Poppy didn't discover Brozone until the Return to the Troll tree where she found a bunch of their records in what she assumed was meant to be her old room. She later found out it was Viva's old room and collection.

Bonus: Ladies' Night

°Brandi, Poppy, & Viva get together once in a while to just escape the pressures of their jobs. They'll usually stay on Vacay Island, but have gone to Mount Rageous on several occasions. Poppy still keeps in contact with Crimp for visits like these.

Wait so what if uhm when brozone broke up clay did stay in troll tree like some folks have been saying but like he found out grandma rosiepuff got eaten because like stuff like that travels around the tree but he along with everyone else who knew them at the time assumed branch was also taken bc the Bergens wouldn’t just take one or whatever. Like what if that so silly haha

I like to headcanon that of the Variants in the Void, Lokes does NOT like Kid Loki at all purely for stupid angsty reasons that he would need a therapist to unpack.

Everything about the younger Variant raises his hackles and puts him on edge.

It isn't a good feeling to see this younger version of what you could have been. To hear him speak of Killing Thor, a pipe dream that you know you could never actually go through with, no matter how the Thunderer has hurt you.

He hates seeing the innocence of youth coupled with the burden of everything the younger variant went through.

I think Classic Loki would have to be a mediator and buffer between the two of them constantly but maybe one day they'd be able to stand on equal footing.
