Oh yeah. I really, really love the hug scene. But telling him you can continue your relationship without the sex part just feels more... profound to me. Like, you're respecting his need for space, but also letting him know you care deeply for him by elaborating there's no need for sex.

It warms my heart in ways I didn't think possible from a game. Baldur's Gate continues to amaze me, even after all this time.

I think the hardest decision to make when romancing Astarion isn't whether or not you allow him to ascend. It's the choice in his Act 2 confession where you can decide between hugging him or telling him you can continue your romantic relationship together without having sex.

Because of course the hug is super meaningful and lovely and wonderfully cinematic, and I do love it, BUT his reaction when you tell him you can stay together without sex?

He looks so relieved but also happy. Like genuinely happy and even hopeful for like, the first time in the whole game. And he doesn't really look this happy again until after his personal quest. I just think it's such an underrated moment. It's so sweet and beautiful.

I know I participated in Snippet Sunday already, but I'm getting to the culmination of all this slow burn at long last and I really want people to see ❤️ It's not in the next chapter, we're 2 away from this point, but I hope these crumbs are enough for now!! I'm really taking my time polishing- it's super, super important to me and seven months in the making. ❤️

Every brush of her lips felt like a tether keeping him from drifting away- hot as the sun and graceful as its rays. Lips stained with wine and the pretty rogue she’d used to adorn them, he’d devoured it all like a starving man. It was disarming, unbearably chaste- and he’d been swept up in the way she whispered his name and the rawness of her emotions as she tried to press them against his lips.

Her fingers traced the marks on his back, reverent and careful, every tremble tumbling through his limbs leaving him aching for more of her. She’d looked up at him with those wide doe eyes, red smeared around her mouth, tips of her ears pink… yet all he could do was freeze. He wanted to push her away, tell her goodnight, but the grating reminder of what would happen to him if he didn’t lock their partnership down now kept him from making that mistake.
