i’m crying laughing at the idea of nikolai meeting ilya. this boy has begrudgingly wooed and earned the respect of every single morozova he’s met so far, and the idea of nikolai collecting another one is so funny to me.

“nikolai”: good, solid, preferred. 10/10 “your majesty/highness”: proper, a little sexy. 7/10 “handsome/sweetheart”: a little cheeky, fun. 8/10 “kolya”: a little uncomfortable, reserved for those closest to him. 5/10-9/10 depending on the person “niko”: absolutely not, disgusting, worst choice, DO NOT USE. -1000/10

                             thinking  about  how ,  after  dominik ,  nikolai  probably  didn’t  really  have  any  friends .  he  had  his  people in  the  army ,  the  people   he  commanded  and  appreciated .  but  none  of  them  were  really  his      friends     .  they  were  his      SOLDIERS     .  and  nikolai ,  for  all  he  remembered  their  names  and  their  lives , always  had  to maintain  a  measure  of  distance .  the  closest  that  probably  came  to  it  were  tolya  and  tamar ,  and  then  to  learn  that   their  loyalty  was  to  alina  above  anyone  else ,  including  him ,  probably  stung ,  and  made  him  realize that  that  wasn’t  exactly  friendship  either . 

                            and  then  alina  comes  along .  the  girl  who  spurns  him  at every  turn . “     we  were  friends ,  weren’t  we ?  not  just  allies ?     ”  the  boy  so  sure  of  everything ,  always  with  the  right  answers  and  the  charm  to  make  anyone  love  him ,  checking  to  see  if  this  one  girl ,  this  one  person ,  considered  him  her  friend .  her  real  friend .  i’m  crying  actually .

look- nikolai loves his brother, but in true brotherly behavior, he thinks all the women in vasya’s life can do infinitely better

even without the very fun addition of the darkolai lense, alina comments on nikolai’s similarities to the darkling very often. his cunning, ambition, extreme manipulation, and occasional ruthlessness has her wary of him for a long time. the thing that ultimately separates them is that at the heart of nikolai is something gentle and kind, despite all the rest of it. whereas in aleksander, while that was likely true to start, it got burned out of him by cruelty and hatred a long time ago.

                     SOMETIMES  IN      nikolai’s  nightmares  of  the  attack  on  the  grand  palace ,      he’s      the  nichevo’ya  that’s  attacking .  he’s  the  creature  that  tears  people  apart .      HE’S      the  one  that      kills  his  brother

OKAY , I'M doing it . i'm writing my fruzsi meta .

what gets m e about it is how - - - vengeful it is . it isn't a necessary death . it isn't for the greater good . it is purely and wholly out of rage and grief . jesper has already disabled her - she can't summon ( not well , anyway ) . she'd be easy to subdue .

but nikolai can't . his best friend , the person he loves possibly more than anyone else , was just killed in his arms . and it's her fault . and for that she has to pay . it's , perhaps , the most ruthless we ever see nikolai . he's fed a man's fingers to his own dogs , but that was a necessary evil . this was - - - simply , MURDER . and there may be regret that will come later , a flash image of the shock and horror on her face before she died that will haunt him at night . a knowledge that dominik would be so horribly disappointed in what he'd done . but he doesn't think that if he had the chance to go back , that he'd do it differently . he doesn't think he could ever stop himself from pulling that trigger .

alright  this  post      will  contain  spoilers     so  if  you  haven’t  seen  the  season ,      SKIP  THIS  POST     . 

d o m i n i k :  i  will  generally  be  keeping  dominik  having  died  when  nikolai  was  on  tour  in  the  first  army .  however ,  i  do  like  the  idea  of  dominik  dying  how  he  does  in  the  show .  so  while  my      main  canon      will  be  that  dominik  died  in  the  first  army ,  but  if  you      WANT       to  write  in  a  thread  of  the  consequences  of  the  darkling’s  grisha  killing  dominik ,  let  me  know  and  i  will  be  glad  to  write  it . 

s t u r m h o n d :  i’m - - -  conflicted  about  mal  as  sturmhond ? ?  i  dont  hate  it !  i  do  think  nikolai  would  have  been      a  lot  more  conflicted      about  just  giving  the  title  to  mal .  for  a  long  time ,  sturmhond  was  the  only  thing  that  could  really  let  nikolai  be  more  himself .  but  i  also  think      STURMHOND      is  more  a  title  than  a  person ,  so  nikolai ,  even  while  giving  the  title  to  mal ,  could  retake  it  up  should  he  need  to  use  it .  and  also ,  officially  instated  as  king ,  it  would  be  difficult  for  nikolai  to  actually  be  sturmhond  with  any  frequency .  so  i     will      be  incorporating  this  into  the  canon  of  this  blog . 

a l i n a :  very  interested  in  this  idea  of  alina ,  as  the  sun  saint ,  actually  having  “ lived ”  past  the  destruction  of  the  fold .  will  be      VERY      interested  in  exploring  both  the  idea  that  alina  and  nikolai  will  be  getting  married ,  and  also  the  hint  of  alina’s  possible  villain  arc .  i      will      be  incorporating  this  into  this  blog’s  canon .  let  me  know  if  you’d  prefer  otherwise ,  as  i’m  still  more  than  glad  to  write  the  book  canon  version  of  it . 

s h a d o w   d e m o n :  i  will      NOT      be  incorporating  how  nikolai  got  his  demon  in  the  show .  that’s  lame  and  boring .  i  will  be  keeping  that  nikolai  got  infected  with  merzost  by  aleksander  himself .

               AFTER  ENCLOSING       the  darkling  in  the  thorn  tree ,  the  blights  in  ravka  start  to  heal ,  and  it  seems  they’ve  succeeded .  but  as  the  months  start  to  wear  on ,  slowly  nikolai  starts  experiencing  small  flashes  of  pain .  he  thinks  it  might  be  the  demon ,  since  it  seems  connected .  but  as  it  continues ,  the  pain  starts  to  become  more  persistent ,  until  it  becomes  a  full  on  agony .  he  begins  to  get  flashes ,  flashes  of  a  thorn  in  his  chest ,  trapped  in  darkness .

              they  realize  that  because  of  the  nichevo’ya ,  and  that  piece  of  the  darkling  inside  of  him ,  nikolai  is  still  connected  to  the  man ,  and  has  begun  to  feel  the  pain  of  the  thorn  tree .  that’s  why  they  decide  they  need  to  find  feliks ’   heart  and  release  the  darkling  from  the  tree .  there’s  a  concern  that  if  they  don’t ,  it  might  just        KILL  NIKOLAI     .

remembering that thread i have with @couronnez post s&b, when my nikolai develops shadow summoning abilities because of the nichevo’ya. and how he was dying on the battlefield, but used merzost on himself to keep himself alive :) jsut thinking about :) those :) potential ramifications :)

                 OTHER  THAN      a  very  few  select  people ,  it  is  safe  to  assume  that  nikolai  is      lying      to  you  at  almost  all  times .  he  is  made  up  of  lies  that  are  sprinkled  with  enough  truth  to  make  it  real .  and  he  is  very      VERY      good  at  it .  he  remembers  all  the  lies  he  told ,  to  whom ,  and  how  to  keep  them  all  cohesive .  and  does  it  all  with  a  genuine  earnestness .

a memory

do you know what love is? you think you did, once upon a time. maybe you never did. you hold onto what you think love is; how you felt when you thought you had it. it's fleeting, and maybe you'll never feel that way again. but wasn't it great? how long will you stay here, lost in this world of fantasy and memory? when will you move on?

to be reassured.

you need someone to talk to, to remind you that you will survive, that you are loved, that you are needed... because you are having a hard time believing it, yourself..

your heart.

you have loved and been hurt.… your heart is tired, but cannot grow calloused

What shatters you?

exhaustion.

au where the demon does in fact make nikolai live longer. in fact, it makes him essentially immortal. hundreds and hundreds of years in the future, quiet haunted nikolai who has seen his children grow, age, die. has seen ravka change hands of its queens and kings. nikolai, who faked his death before the people could come to hate and resent him for being so unnatural.
