(I was originally going to put this in the tags of that last reply but it got long so I'm making it a post instead. Have ramblings about Valor:

Valor is someone that has been hurt so much that he doesn't give anyone the benefit of the doubt, and would rather snap at people to keep himself safe than show any kind of vulnerability.

But once you get past that, once you gain his trust, you see what he's really like. You see him soften and get excited about animals, you see the way he sticks up for and protects those he cares about, you see the way he acts like a puppy at any positive interaction.

He's desperate for care and affection but he doesn't believe anyone would give that to him without reason, and he's so so scared opening himself up will get him hurt. He's already thrown his whole everything into someone he's deeply admired and believed loved him and had the best of intentions for him. And all it did was hurt him badly. And it was so so so bad and he almost got killed and he CAN'T risk something like that again. He'd rather push away perfectly fine people than risk getting burned again.

And this only increases once he gets stuck in the human realm and loses his first family that he's truly felt safe in, because STILL he got hurt again, because he lost them, they're gone now. So in addition to his lack of trust he also fears losing anyone else that does manage to gain his trust.

He's just. He's so so scared.

A gesture of kindness from a stranger feels like a trick, someone showing interest in his life feels like a threat. So he puts up walls and he snaps and he glares and he bites and he hisses because it's better to push someone away before they can hurt him, because being lonely but safe is better than risking getting stabbed in the back.)

At five years old, Stella was taken from her mother, who was unfit to take care of her daughter. Stella was put into foster care where she bounced around to several homes until she was 18 and aged out. During her time in foster care, she befriended a man who treated her more as a daughter than anyone else ever did. All throughout her childhood and teenage years, her ‘Uncle’ Carl as she came to call him, kept an eye on Stella, making sure she was well taken care of. Had he been able to, Carl would have adopted her.

Stella made sure that no matter what she always had good grades in school. She refused to be like her mother who was a dropout. By the time she graduated high school, Stella had several college acceptance letters. With a full ride scholarship, Stella went to college and earned a Bachelor's Degree in English Literature upon graduating.

After graduation Stella went to work for Davis and Davids Publishing and Editing in hopes she’d be able to write and publish a book of her own. Unfortunately the head of the company saw her as nothing more than a pretty face. Instead of fulfilling her dreams, Stella now works as a secretary and a ‘coffee girl’ for her boss who treats her terribly. She hasn’t given up on her dreams yet and still writes on her free time, often submitting articles and short stories anonymously to her bosses and reading her writing later when it’s published.

(Seeing that meme about intimate hand gestures going around again reminds me of Jonathan, so have some trivia about the boy:)

The TF2 Engineer historically only wears one glove, and wears it over the hand he cut off and replaced with a robotic replica. Jonathan, in contrast, wears gloves on both hands and has replaced neither.

This opposite approach is unintentional when he first joins RED, but becomes intentional once he learns the state of things. His hands are how he interacts with the world, literally and figuratively, and he recoils at the idea of replacing them with unfeeling metal, even if cold logic would suggest it to be an upgrade.

Perhaps the most important interactions he makes are those of love. Platonic, familial, romantic, and more, his hands are how he loves, either figuratively (acts of service) or literally (physical touch, building something, etc.).

Love him the way he loves others- the hands. Hold his hands, care for them, build him something. It'll take him by surprise. ;)

More canonical Headcanons

I did Modern AU last time and it got a bit long, but I figure I could use more "canon verse" headcanons.

Similar to @moonxshade's headcanon of feeling guilty toward the other Heroes and getting them roped into this absorption magic with him, he also feels guilt toward the regular people living now because they didn't do anything to the Seven themselves, those were the ANCIENTS that exiled them. Thus why when he hears about Hippoman's abuses, he settles them himself.

He feels doubly guilty when he hears how lauded the Seven were before they started wreaking havoc, and it stings when he hears their tone about them sour anew.

He feels a strange kinship whenever he sees one of the Martial Artists, especially with shorthaired ones like Dynamite or Bruiser. Were it not because of their alliance to the Emperor, he'd consider taking them under his own wing.

Unbeknownst to him, the Dragon's Den contains the descendants of humans who took on the mantle of the Crimson Dragons when the ancients crossed dimensions - and their leaders style themselves after none other than Noel, based on their legends.

Noel's antics are exactly why they hide their faces. What's been happening via Noel in Melu caused further shame on their traditions after getting badgered by merchants and gossip from that region.

Hearing Rocbouquet being called "the Temptress" causes him great distress because it's so diametric to how he knew her before the absorption magic. That's his baby sister.

He still babies and spoils Roc quite a bit, even after becoming so powerful, and arguably after absorbing so many masters and probably knights, many of them fathers and older brothers themselves, this fraternal/paternal instinct is greatly intensified.
