Thinking really hard about Thirteen in general and her job as a caretaker of the life candles. A small spoiler for S2.

She holds alot of power over life and death. Who does she answer to? Is it Diavolo, the Celestial Realm? The brothers’ father? Or are there other older Reapers that would be her quote unquote boss? We see in S2 that she can manipulate the rate at which the life candles burn but can she get in trouble for doing so?

We know from the whole thing Lilith that tampering with the natural life span in hopes of extending it for a living being is illegal (at least in the Celestial Realm) but does the same hold true for the other way around (like when thirteen started burning Beel’s candle faster)

What ramifications would Thirteen face for extending or shortening a life by accelerating the rate at which a candle burns and or by slowing or freezing a flame to keep the candle from extinguishing? And exactly who specifically gets to decide what those ramifications are and how they’re enacted?

Personally, my headcanon or theory on this is that she could get into a ton of trouble for messing with the candles one way or the other and if she’s caught she would face the same consequences as Lilith did- complete annihilation of her soul and then another reaper would be appointed to take her place.

I’d like to think there’s like a council of Elder Reapers that preside over her species and dictates how their race operates and who exactly gets to serve as the collector of souls and care taker of the life candles.

Also another theory about pertaining to this: Maybe her appearance in Season 4 is actually part of her punishment for messing with Beel’s candle. Like whoever is in charge of her decided she was too vengeful -if that’s even the right word- and removed her from watching over the candles because of what happens in S2 until she learns why she was wrong to tamper with beel’s life candle like that.

What if thirteen doesn’t really want to be at RAD as an exchange student but, like a kid whose parents made them go to a family gathering they didn’t want to, her quote unquote boss is making her do this as corrective action for the whole candle incident. And had Beel’s candle actually gone out, that would have been it for thirteen.

With Thirteen being such a new character to us there a lot of things that we don’t actually know about her and I hope the devs actually dive deeper into her and the reaper species as a whole because there’s a lot more that I’d like to know about.
