Then again, he supposed he felt similarly about Yami when they'd first met and Yami had turned out to be wonderful.

No no i don't mean that duel. I mean the full on King of Atlantis vs the King of Egypt.

The duel ends with Dartz defeat as normal but he isn't done there. He showed the past before but now he's going to make them all experience it properly. The birth of the Leviathan within the past. Pharaoh Atem coming and Yami somehow taking the fight up against Dartz with an army of Duel monsters. Dartz has his orichalcos soldiers but also some of the extremely ancient duel monsters that existed within Atlantis. The Egyptian gods vs the Leviathan?

Oh and of course Atem in his battle armour as is Dartz.

YGO AU Leviathan Rising

Leviathan awakens in his perfect form, it’s up to Yami, Kaiba and Joey to fight the great beast form outside while Yugi tries to stop Levi form inside their soul.

Chapter 26 Upward Movement

The group all made their way outside just in time to watch as an island surfaced form the ocean. A single beam of green light emanated into the sky, as the island itself continued to float above them. It must have been Atlantis; Yami and Kaiba had seen it before in their vision with Dartz it meant Leviathan was still alive and was ready to make his final move against them. Yami, Joey and Kaiba decided they would go to the island for one last battle, to get there they where going to use the portal Leviathan had retreated into after the duel.

“Yugi...” Tea had said making Yami stop and look back towards her “Promise you'll come come back...both of you.”

Yami gave her gentle smile “I wont leave without him, no matter what.” with a thumbs up he turned back around and followed Joey and Kaiba through the threshold.

Back inside the temple Yami had passed the alter where the three Egyptian God cards where held, he was happy to have them again but knew they where now drained of their power to feed Leviathan.

When they reached the chamber with the wall of souls they where surprised to see all of the people that where trapped on the walls where now gone.

Yugi was still at the portal face waiting for them to return, his face was a little sad when he saw them again.

“The souls are gone! Did that freak eat them all?” Joey shouted as Yami joined by his side.

“I'm afraid he did...” Yugi looked down in shame.

“Joey! Kaiba!” Yami had held out their dragons cards for them to take. “It's time. We aren't giving up yet, Partner!”

Yugi looked up at Yami, with a small smile he gave a nod. “Yup! You guys can fight him from the outside while I fight him from in here!”

Yami nodded as all three duelists entered the portal. Once Yugi was sure they'd made it safely to the other side he focused his attention on reaching Leviathan. He'd had more then enough practice at this point to know how to find his way to the beast. Now he could hopefully put and end to his reign terror once and for all.

Meanwhile on the other side of the portal; the three duelists were let out in the middle of the ancient and ruined city, following the beam of green light they made it to a fountain. In the middle was a platform where sat in the middle was a crystallized version of Leviathan sitting on a throne almost like a statue.

“Leviathan?” Yami asked as he came closer to the statue, he reached out and touched it only for the entire thing to crumble into thousands of particles that floated away into the air vanishing.

“Okay, that was weird...” Joey said confused.

Just then they heard a chuckle that echoed all around them; just above them a vision of Leviathan appeared with a smug look on his face.

“Took you long enough to make it here 'Chosen' duelists~ Your just in time to watch me resurrect in my perfect form~” Levi chuckled.

“That's impossible Leviathan! You cannot return to your true form without our souls!” Yami growled at the god who only chuckled again.

“That's what you think...I found the perfect substitute...”

-- Deep in the void of souls among all of the floating orbs one stood out among them all, as it held the soul of the 10,000 year old king of Atlantis. Dartz tossed a bit in his cramped bubble; he was quite miserable at the fact his own god betrayed him for the love of that small weak soul, whose only purpose was to contain the soul of the Pharaoh.

He sat curled up into himself; his anger and annoyance held towards Yugi Mutou; a mere vessel was trying to tell him he was a bad king? Pfft! what did this child know? He was never a king! he never had to rule over the most advanced civilization to exist in all of history. He never had to watch his people suffer at the hands of their own brilliance.

What would he have done better then him?

As Dartz closed his eyes his mind started to wonder and drift as his old memories started to play out for him. Memories he'd thought he'd long forgotten but in this state of being had come back to him in full force.

He remembered so long ago a grand day of celebration being held for him. It was his coronation, the day he was to be crowned king of Atlantis a long standing tradition he was nervous about.  As he stood before his father the former king Ironheart. By his side his loving wife Iona stood her hands holding onto their only child and future queen to be Chris. Both gave him a warm smile that helped clam his heart.

Behind him a court full of the highest nobles of the kingdom all await in baited breath for their new king to accept the crown; a symbol of his duty to always serve his people.

Dartz bent down on one knee and spoke in his native tongue “I Dartz, so do promise with this crown to lead my people; with honesty, trust, and integrity. I will always follow the wills of the world and protect and keep our kingdom safe.”

With those final words the crown was placed upon his head, with a nod form the old king the court erupted in applause and cheers for their new king. As Dartz and his family approached the balcony and looked out at the city streets filled with his people all cheering and aglow. They praised their new king for they knew he would lead them towards a bright future.

Dartz waved happily as he held his wife and child close to him in an embrace. Turning back Dartz saw Iornheart standing behind him a look of satisfaction on his face, he gave his son a nod. Dartz's heart was warm with pride, turning to his daughter he bent down  and picked her up into his arms, tossing her up gently catching her again, Chris giggled as Iona placed a hand on his cheek tenderly before giving him a kiss.

“My King...you are truly blessed.”

He truly did feel that way; he was surrounded by a loving family, his people below where cheering his name, this truly was the greatest day of life. Looking at his family once more he spoke to them gently.

“I promise I'll be a worthy king.”

Those words echoed in Dartz mind over and over again; he knew it wasn't true.

He failed to save Atlantis, he failed his father, his family. Betrayed his people and the crown. And now he failed to bring about a new world, he wasn't worthy of anything. He knew he was a failure and this was going to be the end for him.

Just then he felt his orb start to move and shoot up towards the glowing eye of the great beast, as the orb hovered in front of the eye a booming voice shouted,

“There you are Dartz! See I told you I'd have a use for you~” Leviathan chuckled.

Dartz was limp as he barely lifted his head towards the looming eye of his god.

“Whatever you do to me...is exactly what I deserve...” that was all Dartz had the energy to say at this point.

“Glad to see your on board with things for once.” Leviathan then absorbed Dartz orb into his eye; the crackle of power and energy bursting throughout the voided area.

Leviathan was finally restored.

-- As he laughed again, the beam of green energy suddenly split into four and turned down towards the ocean. A flash of green lightening it hit the water causing a swirling whirl pool to grow, and deep form the centre of the whirlpool a set of glowing yellow eyes appeared followed by a large and long snake like beast that burst through from the depths of the sea.

At least one part of it was snake like; while the lower torso was snake like the upper body was human the skin tone matched the beasts purple scales, it's magenta under belly ran up along the torso stopping just under the chin. Long teal claws stuck out form the creatures finger tips, the same teal coloured spikes at each elbow and ran along the spine and joining the tail piece. At it's back 2 sets of fin like wings that made it look almost like a flying fish. Finally on it's forehead was a dark set of horns with a head piece that almost resembled a crown, teal coloured bangs ran down the sides of it's face while black spiky hair looking almost like fire grew form it's head. It's face resembled Yugi's almost perfectly but instead of his signature purple eyes, the entire eye black while the iris' were gold.

Everyone watching form back at Doma's island where shocked to see the monstrous Leviathan wrapping his coils around the island. Tea was aghast; she saw Yugi transform into a horrible monster back in Death Valley and hoped to never see her friend turn into a beast again. But now her worse fears where floating above them.

“Is that really Doma's God?” Mokuba asked still in shock.

“Looks like it...and it's taken Yugi's form...” Tristan answered not taking his eyes off the monster.

“Please Pharaoh, You've got to stop that monster...” Tea spoke softly with worry, clasping her hands together nervously.

The beast now wrapped it's lower half around the base of the floating island, keeping the entirely of the island in it's coils as it's top half looked down into the city. He was absolutely massive easily dwarfing every building and structure in the city. His eyes moved along the ancient city streets searching for his prey.

All three duelists found themselves face to face with the great beast, it was no understatement that Leviathan was huge but compared to him they where barely insects.

This brought back memories for both Yami and Joey; when Yami Bakura first appeared and trapped Yugi and his friends in a shadow game where they played the roles of their favourite duel monsters cards. Only as tall as the play cards they represented while two dueling giants played with their lives, only this time Yami was among them and this giant was far bigger then Yami Bakura was.

Leviathan chuckled; he finally found the three stunned duelists, they where no bigger then ants compared to him and it truly pleased him to watch them shuffling below him.

“I am in my perfect form! Yugi and I are now one, the perfect union of partners! All thanks to Dartz's contribution of course. Now I have more then enough power to take all three of you on!”

“Wow someone has been eating their greens...” Joey quipped a bit trying to not sound nervous.

“So this is Leviathans “perfect” form?” Yami glared up at the golden eyed beast frustrated with the fact that once again the evil god has stolen Yugi's form and is going to use it against them.

“Hmph! You can take any form you want monster I'll still take you down all the same!” Kaiba barked not one to be intimated by gods.

“I'd love to see your pitiful attempts to stop us!” Levi stared down at the three humans as they activated their duel disks and each summoned a line up of their best monsters along with they're legendary dragons Yami using 'legend of heart' to release their true forms as knights.

-- Yugi walked along the path of darkness his mind was filled with determination, he had to reach Leviathan one way or another. His desire to find Levi had opened the path he needed to take; a set of large ancient doors with identical sets of snakes on each side appeared before him.

Yugi looked up a bit intimated by the doors that dwarfed him but he had to press onward if he wanted to help his friends and save the world. Pushing on the doors with all his might the doors swung open and awaiting him on the other side was a large spiralling staircase with a pillar in the middle.

Yugi walked towards it and stared in awe at the structure. Craning his neck up as high as it would stretch it looked like it was carved form pure marble, the spiralling staircase seemed to go on forever with no sight as to where it lead to.

“Oh man that's gonna be a lot of stairs to climb...” Yugi was grim with the thought of having to climb that many stairs; not just the sire amount but the fact it may take him too long and he may not reach Levi in time.

His mind again started to think of a faster way to get up those stairs, and once again his mind answered him by revealing in the centre of the spiralling pillar of stairs, yet another set of smaller doors opened up to what looked like an elevator.

Yugi shrugged his shoulders but wasn't unhappy about he solution presented to him, quickly he rushed the elevator doors and jumped in. As the doors closed the platform started to move upwards Yugi started to reflect upon everything that happened so far after his capture by Dartz.

Being trapped in that cold void only to be forced into becoming a vessel for evil, meeting Levi for the first time and tricking him into giving him some freedom, talking to Raphael and finding out he, Valon and Alister were all hurting on the inside. Facing the other Yugi in that duel in Death Valley...

Yugi shuttered a bit holding himself. He saw his own refection in the glass of the elevator doors his large orchid eyes where filled with uncertainty. Levi, while evil did do so much to help him...

He helped him let out his anger, they played games together, they shared a meal at the restaurant, they had such a wonderful time together, more and more Yugi saw him as less of a monster and more like a friend...

He thought about Dartz's Swordsmen; he saw them in the void too all three of them where used by Dartz only for Dartz himself to fall victim to same fate. His mind shifted back to his friends; how utterly distressed and destroyed Tea looked when she realized he was still stuck to the evil god.

Now the other Yugi, Joey and Kaiba where facing Leviathan who was determined to defeat them at any cost.

Making friends with an evil god and accidentally getting him to fall in love with him was certainly not something he thought he'd ever experience and he'd gone through more then his fair share of crazy adventures at this point.

Now he was only hoping he'd be able to convince Levi to stop his rampage against the world...

p.s, magic exists. It’s a medieval fantasy story

- Khemet ( as the name suggests) is my speculative fantasy take on what Medieval Egypt would be like if it remained untouched, without the cultural dilution that occurred in real history through conquest by the Hyksos, Arabs, Greeks etc. That isn’t to say there is no Arab or Greek influence in this AU, the idea is that Khemet/Egypt has simply retained MUCH much more unique cultural identity, as if the 18th dynasty somehow persisted into the medieval age. Khemet has Arabian inspired architecture and whatnot in the same way Modern Japan has French maid cafes. Obviously it’s where Atem is from in this AU lol

- Almania is where Kaiba is from in this AU. loosely European inspired country. It’s a VERY cold Taiga biome kingdom. Geographically, it’s located around where Ukrain, Belarus and Poland is. The name is literally just the Spanish / Portuguese word for Germany just took one letter out. honestly, I can’t say it is based on a specific country/culture. It hasn’t been important for the plot. Where it is on the map contridicts it’s name, and I am using the original Japanese names for everyone. It’s a bit of a mess. Almania is Almania, that’s all you need to know.

-Atlantis is a functioning, thriving kingdom that is a important future plot point, ruled by none other than King Dartz (he will be important later) Atlantis is not stationary( it’s a moving island that meanders around the eastern Mediterranean. Like howls moving castle, but an island. That’s also a kingdom. Magic!! Woo!!

-Majority of well-known European pop culture fantasy Megafauna exist in this world like dragons, unicorns, hippogryphs/Gryphons etc etc. other mythical creature say, from ancient Egyptian or other folklore also exist, just haven’t mentioned them (yet)

this going to be vague as heck because everyone has their own interpretation of what is going on in atlantis, so i just threw in random stuff. naturally this is just going into details on who mana was in atlantis --- and not the whole leviathan / seal / orichalcos drama. that's what wiki is for lol.

mana hails from a family of oracles that serves the atlantean royal family. while she was not there to witness the great beginning of the atlantean civilization, she would eventually come into possession of her own orichalcos stone. for the longest time, atlantis was considered a peaceful paradise with the stone being the source of all its technological advances. although, mana did grow up as an irresponsible and silly child, she was still the daughter of a highly respected scientist (father) and a divine prophetess (mother). this obviously means that the atlanteans carried high expectations for their little progeny, who likely did not understand the mantle she had inherited. nevertheless, her parents spoiled her greatly and her childish nature remained throughout the course of her studies. she was greatly proficient in magic and naturally understood the technological science behind atlantis' advancement.

as a daughter from a highly regarded oracle lineage, mana studied closely by her mother's side. she learned the ways of prophetic rituals, the mathematical equations of orichalcos trajectory, the meaning behind stars and constellations, holy prayers, ancient magic, songs, and dance. while her mother wasn't particularly strict, she did have high expectations for mana's behavior when it came to the temple. by the time mana was sixteen, she was given the minor title of priestess. her duties interwoven with temple life as she continued her independent studies. meanwhile, outside the temple, atlanteans began to exhibit worrying symptoms of monster transfiguration.

in an effort to understand these horrifying cases, the previous king of atlantis [ironhart] turned to both the seers and scientist. many conducted their own experiments to maintain order, but it would be mana who accidentally discovered the evil properties behind the orichalcos stone. using her divine abilities, mana was the first one to purify her stone and transform it into the sage's stone. this was likely the conduit that connected atlantis with the spirit world, where ironhart would plead for their assistance. throughout the war between ironhart and dartz, mana continues to rise up in her duty of sainthood, taking along multiple apprentices to ensure the knowledge of atlantis continues to live on. in her lifetime, she was successful in following both her mother and father's footsteps and became a highly beloved high priestess. she was given access to forbidden knowledge that was not shared with the masses, and through her quick thinking she was able to weaponize her spirit and created the first manifestation of dark magician girl. although she would be one of the casualties who died when atlantis descended to the ocean, her legacy would live on in her spirit where her reincarnation would continue her battle.

Dragonheart au- Dartz is the receiver of a piece of his heart. Perhaps wanting to give the once proud king a second chance.

He does not forgive nor condone what was done, how he turned on his people,his family and he most loyal and noble knights who had served the royal family for generations. Yes he knows and understand to an extent it was the power of the stone, corrupting and twisting his mind to the truth of the matter, however at the same time to have such an affect the magic would need something to drive it, to feed off of. Not say he was an evil man at his core but there was something for it to feed and twist into making him believe. Perhaps a fear that things weren't as perfect as it seemed or amplifying his desire for that perfection and peace.

Still freed from it's power he wants to give him another chance- in the same way as they are helping the leviathan in the Dominion of the Beasts

or alternitively it was something given before he became warped and twisted and now Tim has to live with this choice and is basically forced with a choice between let him live and keep hurting others or does he allow himself to die alongside his king to protect the people.

THE HUGE ATLANTIS META THAT WAS A LONG TIME COMING

( part 1 )

OK HERE WE GO PART 2 which will address the whole lineage thing. in the previous part of this huge meta, there’s the whole ‘lineage of atlas gets priority’ but there are like 9 other kings and recap dardanos comes from the atlas line .

let’s be real, his name isn’t originally dartz, because it was … like 8000 BCE and the inspo. for all of this is greek myth so, he is DARDANOS, a name which may originate from δαρδαπτω ( dardapto ) / to devour. which makes a lot of sense considering. the atlantean language tho that i’ve found so far also shares commonalities with some tolkien languages which isn’t surprising, which is why i can conlang all over the place here. later, there are some messy mistranslations so we … got to where we are… ⎛ as everyone sees, i will refer to him as dardanos because that's the way to go! ⎠

he has a ton of cousins due to the fact that there were heirs of the other nine kings, but some families had multiple kids, but the ten rulers of atlantis’ hierarchy basically follows [in order] (keep in mind, atlantis is great, it goes to the firstborn so there are in fact queens): dardanos, orestes, cadmus, euanthe, nausicaa, nikephoros, diomedes, glaucus, ourania, and sarpedon.

when the huge disaster happened, his cousins flat out turned on him because they were like ‘wow this is a load of bull what god are you talking to’ and they didn't expect the god of the oreichalkos to be mother goddess gaea (rip to them).

euanthe, sarpedon, ourania, diomedes and cadmus ended up sacrificed to gaea. nausicaa and glaucus managed to launch a few ships with survivors from atlantis before it went under … with them in it.

dardanos personally killed orestes and nikephoros (since they were on the battlefield and that's what happened to most of the people who opposed him), but for some reason their souls just didn’t have to deal with being devoured like who devours their own cousins yikes so .

part 3 of this will cover atlantean society outside the royal family, customs, celebrations, etc.

Episode 7.

As Himuro, and Yusei's Duel continue, Takasu (Mr. Armstrong in the dub) informs Rex. Rex continues his exposition to Jack.

Takasu's design seems to be based off Glenn Hughes's character of Leatherman from the Village People band.

Rex continues his exposition about Iliaster to Jack. He states he is the 360th Star Guardian. Translation of his title will be used for the name of Bruno's post-jumous card, T.G. Star Guardian.

After the cut to Himuro vs. Yusei, Rex explains Iliaster has origins from Andean civilizations from 3000 years ago. During this shot, we get to see an Andean God's shot, who will inspire Red Nova's design.

During Rex's narration, Rex implies to Jack that he is the reincarnation of the Star Dragon King, who led the Pre-Inca Andean Civilization. In the Red Nova episodes, we find out this is false, he is actually the successor of the wielder of Burning Soul, but of course in the Dark Signers arc it is clear Rex views himself as the successor of the Star Dragon King (this is already obvious here, but we are stuck with Jack's warped perspective).

We will discuss this way more in detail, but yes, Iliaster were originally just a cult, but somehow Z-one, and his comrades took over it to alter the world's history. We don't really get to see much of the broader Iliaster cult, though, due to censorship reasons.

Rex's narration here is intended to be like Dartz's narration about Atlantis's fate in the Doma arc. Though obviously 5D's utilizes those concepts a bit more coherently.

We see from Himuro's flashback that he lost to Jack as a Riding Duelist. Jack calls his Duel the worst he had. Himuro's flashback involves him being stuck with underground Duels, and establishing a drinking habit.

The money exchanged here does not have Jaeger's face, it will be the case in later 5D's, and ARC-V, since this is before he had authority.

After Yusei wins the Duel, Yanagi tries to kiss Yusei on the cheek. Himuro apologises, and they shake hands. Then the wardens state Takasu wants to interrogate Yusei.

We cut back to Rex, and Jack. Rex tries to goad Jack into becoming the world's protector as the Summoner of Crimson Dragon, Jack is not that impressed.

Atem stared. "So uh that guy? Is called Dartz, another King actually of an old kingdome of atlantis.." He shrugged.

"Good to know, but explains about nothing? You are communally behaving like Necrophades is trying to take over the world right in front of you.

What in the name of Ra is even going on here? What's the bloody problem?!"

"You could say that." Atem nodded. To say he knew the king who wants him dead would be an understatement, but that's a discussion for another time.

"He goes by Dartz, a king of his former land of Atlantis. The stones in my world possess a powerful soul stealing magic he calls the Orichalcos. It's a magic that..." He rubbed his arm a little, knowing full well what he was saying as he just revealed that he had dabbled in such magic. "It's a magic that reveals the darkness in others. Dartz has been doing all this damage, stealing the souls of those who oppose him, for the past 10,000 years. Yes, he's that old." As he's one to talk, his spirit at one time being half that age.

"As for stopping him, the worst anyone has done was kill his body, but that only stops him temporarily. You want to stop him, we either stop the Leviathan itself or we destroy the magic of the Orichalcos itself, a feat only done once. Barely."

"Atem." He nods his head, remembering the others name in memory. "It's a pleasure to meet you. I do hope we can definitely work together to stop whatever stones are here together." He would do his best to investigate the man who caused harm to others.

"If you have any other questions wanting to know more about me and about what I do. Feel free. I'll do my best to explain to the best of my abilities, even if they sound farfetched out there." He really could see how they were similar in similar situations.

"Trust me when I say I don't wish to harm anyone. I want to stop the man who's using these stones." He explains softly, "Too many lives have been lost due to the stones in my world and this world too." He replies seriously.

"So, I take it you know the man rather well, hm?" He asked softly, wondering if he could gather more intel about this man who procured the stones.

/Awh yeah Alright let's talk about it. Dartz x Atem/Yami Ok so... Two kings? Bruh. Its a set up.

Besides what me and Nikki have going on with these boys anyway. It'd definitely be somewhat of a toxic ship too. If we are going on the Orichalcos side of things- Dartz is a bastard and will do anything to get one up over Yami. Prove he is the lesser of the royalty between the two. Can you imagine a war between Atlantis/Egypt? Brooo.. it'd make it so much more painful for this ship to be a thing (yet so much more intriguing)

Yet, the redemption arc both of these would have is just.. so so treasured. Both of them have so much to fix and explore about themselves, it'd be a journey of discovery that they'd both lead. A slow burn into something cute and eventually requiring one another to make it to the next step. Even if they both feel they are not worthy of the others compassion.
