Cherry Magic Episode 7 Review - Their First Date

Adachi and Kurosawa go on a date! Though, it ends a bit disastrously as Kurosawa went a bit overboard, but Adachi decides to take him out on a second, calmer date to make up for it. This whole episode was them getting used to dating, which I’m glad that Adachi is finally taking some initiative. Now there’s a bigger issue at hand: what will Adachi do about his magic? Will he tell Kurosawa?

The first date portion was cute, but in a cringe way. Like, I was gushing, but I was also cringing so hard. Kurosawa’s date song was the most HILARIOUS THING ever and it gave me secondhand embarrassment as well. How many times did Ryota Suzuki attempt to do this without laughing? I’d be laughing at the very first note if I was recording this. Also, am I the only one who thinks that getting a helicopter is going a bit overboard? While it’s nice to see how smitten and devoted Kurosawa is, he did do too much. I’m glad that he learned his lesson in a way and that he doesn’t have to go overboard next time. Speaking of his voice actor, I wonder how many takes it took for him to speak that fast at the part where Adachi held his hand.

I was a bit sad that the first date ended up with Adachi being a bit too self-conscious about people’s opinions about him dating Kurosawa. Please understand that this is Adachi’s first ever date and that Kurosawa is the first person he ever dated. It’s understandable that the first date would be awkward. In fact, I feel like Adachi’s behavior is a bit realistic in a sense. Fortunately, Adachi makes up for the messy end by taking Kurosawa out on a second date where they talk about their favorite manga, looking at merch and then eating at the bar Adachi regularly goes to. As an introvert, I think that chiller dates suit them a lot better than helicopter dates. Like, I also like the fact that Adachi took the initiative and asked him out on another date and even held his hand. I do like that he’s putting in effort for dates and that he does want to make this work out too.

I do like the transition from having a successful date to now wondering about if he should tell Kurosawa about the magic and what not. When one wall is climbed, another one shows up. I feel like Kurosawa’s not going to resent Adachi for having the magic; he’s too much of a simp to hate him. I mean, look at Kurosawa at the office after the first date ended in failure; he looked like he was going to erase himself from existence. I’m sure things will work out because they’re both surprisingly good when it comes to voicing out their thoughts.

Speaking of which, Asahina, Kurosawa’s superior who showed up last episode appears again. He’s voiced by Hiroki Yasumoto (Chad from Bleach, Germany from Axis Powers Hetalia). He’s been in BL before, so he’s no stranger to the genre. I was surprised when his name showed up in the credits like “Wait…”

Anyways, what do you think will transpire next episode? Will Adachi tell him or will it drag out? Will their next dates after today’s episode be good ones? What are your thoughts on this episode and about Kurosawa’s date song?

KUROSAWA SAYING WHEN YOU DIDN’T TURN TO ME I WAS SAD AND THAT ONE FUCKIN TEAR THAT FALLS FROM HIS EYES AND THE WAY HE LAUGHS AND APOLOGISES FOR BEING A MESS I NEED A NURSE like i’m gonna. Die i’m two seconds away from throwing up my heart why would he. Why did they film a movie with such intent to tear me to the ground the way he can barely speak and has to try and gather himself multiple times with deep breaths before speaking and ends up crying anyway the way adachi looks on helplessly wondering how to comfort him and let him know how much he loves him the way. The way he tries to bridge the gap between them with understanding through touch one of kurosawa’s main love languages the way kurosawa’s eyes are so glossy and doe like as he waits for adachi’s kiss the way he says his name so softly the way adachi rests his hand on kurosawa’s knee and their hands find each other so slowly…, so softly… so tenderly… the way they can literally speak 636373 words with just their hands alone and do way more for the sake of romance and true deep mutual love than anything the way none of these are in order of how they happen because my brain is seeping out of my ears naina what the actual fuck were they thinking..,, machida keita akaso eiji and kazam hiroki you will receive my medical bills shortly i’m. I wow so. cool

adachis side was perfectly analyzed in that meta i rbed earlier so i have nothing substantial to add but god for the 58302th time his Growth ..... even in ep 12 he had to get that push from tsuge to go meet w kurosawa but in the movie he could already tell kurosawa was putting up a front (and literally predicted it would happen as soon as he got the transfer offer) and he probs planned on talking abt it when he flied back to tokyo before the incident which is. ... .. and the look of determination on his face the entire time kurosawa finally broke down w no panic no overthinking like "I Am Going To Love And Cherish This Man So Hard" and comforting kurosawa w touch and no longer caring abt the magic that hes become reliant on for kurosawas sake. . Yeah im going to be ill about these two for the rest of my life thank u cm crew god bles <3

summary: y/n is a manga artist and writer that seems to project her emotions onto the work called "officially gone". when she has to find new inspiration for her next arc, her marketing manager gives her a number of a friend he knows will help. but can y/n keep her personal life separate from her professional? will it help her feel better about herself, or even worse?

▹ that morning, y/n and tetsu had to go to a meeting that occurs every month to check on 'officially gone's selling rate as well as to keep in touch with how the readers react to them. Usually, kei attends as these meetings for the sake of the manga's art, but he couldn't go today as he was working on the story board for the end of the existing arc (which is why he got so mad about the change because of all the hard work).

▹ there are three main characters in officially gone. each one of them has an aspect of kou, tetsu and kei since they all helped her with the making of the manga. it's not really something readers could pick up on unless they do intense research into the four's history.

▹ the protagonist, nishikawa yuzuki, is a transfer university student. kou transferred to y/n, tetsu and kei's school after learning they all went to the same one. he felt left out and y/n actually helped him do it bc she missed him :(( (bc she let kou read the first draft of the prologue, he wanted to pick the name of the mc).

▹ yuzuki was running late on her first day of classes for the year, and the train doors were closing on her, when the first love interest that readers get introduced stops the doors from closing so she could get in. this is kazama mitsuaki. this encounter is based off how kei and y/n met again and found out they were going to the same uni (kei kept his school choice to himself bc he became close friends with the other three and was worried they'd stalk him).

▹ as yuzuki and mitsuaki are getting their attendance down, they get their seating plan. yuzuki is seated next to second love interest, who is fallen asleep on the desk before hearing her sit down. this is kurosawa hiroki. obv referencing tetsu's last name. he didn't want a 'sucky shoutout in your cool manga', he wanted it to be pretty clear.

▹ although primarily a character model for y/n (poses for drawing reference), kou has done actual modelling gigs and has reached the top 5 models this year. he's been invited to the end-of-year modelling magazine on thursday, which is the same one tooru, atsumu and sakusa are going to.

▹ tetsu actually isn't actually meant to be bringing anyone to the shoot other than managers of the models, fashion designers and stylists. but they were really adamant on getting kou on the magazine since he rose to top 5 in under 6 months, due to his affiliation with the 'officially gone' group. so tetsu is sure it will be fine.

2. What’s a scene that never fails to make you cry? When Watase is pleading with Kurosawa at the top of Kamurocho Hills. I will say though if that sounds goofy it’s not because of what’s being said (while it is heartbreaking, this devout and loyal man being betrayed); it’s that there’s a certain pitch in his voice at makes my face violently buzz and hum that it pushes me to tears lmao, gotta love synesthesia

C) Let’s Be Subjective

4. Which Character would you like to see as a protagonist? JIn Kuwana. I sincerely think with the ending we got that there’s a wealth of potential for him to have his own game and story. I think that he is the best choice to rub shoulders with Ichigang, which would be a lot of fun.

5. Which character would you like to see as an antagonist? I’d like to see Daigo go full Break Stuff Sunday on everyone.

11. Which character has the best taste in clothing? Which one has the worst? Ichiban has the best taste, Sagawa has the worst, I hate that shit sit so much lmaooo. Though I will say I wish RGG wold push the envelope and get more into street fashion; Zhao and Seong Hui is the closest we’ve gotten to anything really unique.

12. Whose voice do you enjoy hearing the most? Jin Kuwana & Tianyou Zhao. Koji Yamamoto has a beautiful pitch and Nobuhiko Okumoto has a flair and range that I love love love hearing.

D) Let’s get Controversial

3. Who’s the most Overpowered Character? Kiryu. I mean I get it and it’s an inevitably as the protagonist some of the shit is just not fucking feasible. God bless for Y7, I finally get to see him lose.

E) This or That

3. Return; Shinada or Tanimura Shinada, I just love him. Granted plot wise Tanimura is the better choice and with snake style being the improved version of his move set he’d be fun to play with, but I’ve got a soft spot for Hiroki and I’d only want Tanimura back if it were him reprising the role - a near impossible feat.

5. Disband: Tojo or Omi? Tojo...we had six game of them being unable to get their shit together lol, love y’all but clearly something is not working
