Gearing up for a Storm: Tank in 5v5
Anticipating a lot of discussion (and "discourse") when the next Developer Blog/Director's Take from Overwatch 2 drops because it is going to specifically target the 6v6/5v5 dilemma...
....Conundrum...
........debate.......
..............concern?
All and all, going to be a pretty defining lecture for a game that I (and many others) have spent years with. Nearly a decade for some of us.
l o l
Until then! There's been some discussion around the recent patch as well as concerns regarding
POWER CREEP
and just what can be done with Tanks. Namely
Are Tanks doomed to be throw pillows of weakness constantly hiding from focus fire and CC effects?
Or Raid Boss style dungeon gods that no one can kill before they team wipe the enemy?
Is there a middle ground?
The difference between busted Tanks and Pillow Tanks at the design level, falls largely on factors from outside of the game; or more accurately
Player defined mechanics vs. In-game mechanics
The former are strategies that players will implement through coordination, targeting, communication, and knowledge-...all of which are not functionally taught or defined within Overwatch. You have to learn how to communicate, coordinate, take high ground, and focus fire, through experience and playing with other players.
Playing Soldier 76 doesn't automatically embed the concept of High Ground, into your head while you execute his kit. It has to be discovered, memorized, and implemented while playing which is a significant abstract in the Cognitive Load of a player who is trying to absorb:
12 different audio cues at any given moment
10 different visual effects at any given moment
18 separate mechanics happening at different intervals and/or simultaneously
all the exceptions, qualifiers, and hidden modifiers with the first three in this list
The on-going demand on a player's memory makes remembering to execute strategies/tactics (which are outside the sensory feedback received from the game) a more distant priority for a lot of players. Most will have to have those strategies/tactics backed up in their reflexes from other games they've played (FPS', MOBAs, Shooters, etc.)
Players who can implement (Information > Knowledge > Execution > Reflex) Player-defined mechanics, are easily poised to hammer another player with an overwhelming amount of In-Game Mechanics.
Focusing the player with the largest hitbox in the game with 5 different kits and the many different interactions they all have is, quite literally, an overload of that Player's own cognitive load; demanding that player operate at such a high level of active memory and execution, that they'll burnout eventually and long before they achieve anything of value in the game-
-or give that player access to mechanics and stats that can outright cancel or deny whole swathes of enemy In-game mechanics just to survive (Orisa Fortify, Hog Vape, DF/Ramm Block, Mauga Overdrive, etc.), which?
Isn't really fun for either side. Not in the long run.
Can we see why Tank Players are increasingly frustrated and/or leaving the game?
The Middle Ground
I'm a firm 6v6 advocate.
But I also know Overwatch 2 should never return to 6v6.
(Because the amount of Dev work that would need to go into making 6v6 viable, would demand a whole new game and they might as well get started on that now and let OW2 have it's lifecycle of 4-5 years).
So what to do about 5v5?
Well...
It's worth noting that, as a format, 5v5 is very difficult to parse from moment to moment; a constant stream of razor thin balancing that shifts and changes as min-maxing of both Player-defined mechanics and In-game mechanics emerge with each new patch.
That is to say, from a design perspective
There will always be a lopsided quality to this format, either within the Roles, within the mechanics, or within the compositions.
But we can mitigate much of the frustration by broadening the options available for Tanks, so that their potency (power) isn't the only option.
Tanks can't be shrunk down. They can't be made significantly weaker and they can't be allowed to steamroll over the enemy either.
Each of those (all of them) would result in pretty big swings of frustration that no amount of collabs or novelty will be able to bury.
Instead, what should be the focus is lower potency with broader (and I mean broader) delivery.
Make each Tank? A Multi-Zoner:
Every single Tank should have the capacity to threaten (not necessarily damage) multiple areas of the map, either through enabling or engaging mechanics.
By creating multiple zones/areas/points of contention in the setting, a Tank can disperse a number of the enemies resources to those varied zones, demanding the enemy dilute their attention or face a possible overwhelming cascade of In-game mechanics that sends them back to spawn.
A few examples of this design execution below, using Zarya as the Tank:
Example - Defensive, Mitigating
Zarya with 2 independent bubbles is a concentration of power around the Tank that begs for all the attention, but also incentivizes her to NOT bubble anyone else.
Giving Zarya one personal bubble + 2 projected bubbles that each only have 100-150 health, would give her up to three (3) separate zones she could apply to any given fight/area of a map.
Zone for her support(s) in the backline, while bubbling a Reaper/Genji going in with Ult, and still having her own personal bubble (and resultant charge to wreck face) for protective purposes.
Example - Offensive, Zoning
Zarya's particle grenades (her Mouse 2/Right Click) when striking the environment, land and persist on the field for upto 2s, or until enemies come within proximity (0.5m).
Large ammo dumps, these can be used to make areas significantly less inviting or engagement worthy to an enemy team, forcing more favourable sightlines and, less, focus fire from the enemy.
Example - Defensive, Zoning
Zarya's Personal Bubble will produce a significant knockback effect if destroyed, giving her room to retreat or find cover incase of swarming or overwhelming by the enemy.
This can also provide her with some significant advantages when played around Graviton Surge and her Particle Grenades.
This is not an exhaustive list of options, but showcases how differing mechanics can result in better zoning potential for Zarya as a Tank, without increasing her potency in a kit already designed to be potent. Broader utility that provides further options for tactical and strategic importance, is how a singular Tank can not only survive but further enable their Team to play the game...
...which is what Tank is all about, really.
#game theory#game design#overwatch 2#6v6#5v5#and yes this is possible with every Tank#I do not think the Devs have enough resources to pull this sort of thing off though#Still worth explaining/exploring#6v6 deserves an Overwatch 3#Tanking

Ideas for Talents in Overwatch 2
(From my Reddit account)
One of my biggest fears for the sequel is that talents will only be for the heroes chosen for Story missions. I wanted to see how hard it would be to make talents for all 31 heroes. It only took me a day, so if I could do it I don't see why the entire Blizzard team couldn't.
Reinhardt has at least 7 talents, so I came up with 8 talents for each hero to round it out.

Nekimo’s Story - Chapter 3 part 1 - Hearts in Trouble
(All other chapters https://onouwu.tumblr.com/Stories )
Nekimo heads back to Dalia’s tribe with her new pistol in hand. Various members of her group armed with them as well. Along with her, the two snipers from the camp who she plans will do the majority, if not all, of the firing.
Nekimo looks at Orisa who’s racked with worry and frustration.
“Did you not expect me to have a plan, Orisa?”
Orisa snaps back. “This wasn’t a plan, Nekimo. You’re the luckiest person alive and if anything, you’re a persuasive liar.”
Nekimo smiles “I’ll tell you what. When we get there, I’ll give you a chance to talk Dalia into submitting her kingdom and life to me. If you succeed, then nobody will have to die.”
“Why don’t you do what you did back there and just take the place over without a fight?” Orisa replies sarcastically.
Nekimo continues walking “I didn’t have a grudge against Cassidy. Dalia? She’s going to watch me take everything from her that fills her with pride. She says she has the heart of a warrior, and that nothing can take that from her even in death… I will though, I’ll gladly steal it from her while she’s watching.”
As they continue their path to the edge of the forest along the river’s path, they hear a soft moan which continues into frantic gasps
“Stop!” the strained voice whines
Quickly, the gasping becomes tensed, desperate even. Ginika shushes the group and stalks the sound to the edge of an open spot among the trees. Within that spot they see a slightly chubby figured woman with a long green tail from the hips down. It’s wrapped around a nude, lightly tan and athletic looking woman’s body from legs to chest, Her clothes in a small pile before them.
The woman in her grip looks barely conscious as her arms dangle over the thick tail engulfing her torso. With skillful lethality it ripples around the middle of her chest rhythmically in an apparent contest against the life fighting desperately inside, Her ribs yield like thin plastic as they bow outward from the bottom. At the same time, the length of it very gently caress her legs, focusing only on her life.
"Watch out, they're extremely aggressive!" Hailey whispers to Nekimo as they watch the scene.
Nekimo looks to Hailey. "That woman… she looks familiar... anyway, I've only heard of them from Adaego as a threat they keep from us, never have I seen one before"
Hailey looking back at her "We used to deal with them regularly before they stopped coming to our camp. They often approach in a docile or comfortable manner. They attempt to read your immediate reactions and approach you in a disarming way. Once close, they ease you into their grip and well… do that."
The woman’s arms try again to push the large muscular tail away in a futile attempt to free herself. Her efforts come with increasing futility while the appendage deliberately robs her of her most vital functions. The lamia's face is full of delight and slightly adoring as she effortlessly bends the woman’s body like a doll to present her midsection before tenderly running her fingernails over the woman’s belly. The snake-woman looks excited yet patient as she waits for the struggling to stop, now tugging on the woman’s fingers playfully while her victim’s body submits and dangles almost lifelessly before her, the fear in the poor woman’s face fading out as her consciousness leaves her. The lamia’s vibrant yellow eyes grow hungry as her tail gets tense and desperate around the woman’s ribcage, rushing the last sign of life deep in the woman’s chest to stop resisting its fate in a harsh squeeze. Finally satisfied, she lies the woman down on her back, displaying her delicate breathless body like a meal ready to eat.
Nekimo realizes why the woman looked familiar finally before she hits the ground.
"She’s one of the guards who took us!" she whispered. "I need her alive.”
Nekimo starts to motion her group to follow her out of hiding.
“Wait, stop!” Hailey whispers.
Nekimo reverses her motion to listen to the sniper.
“They can be dangerous in a group. Only one of us should go if you need to do so, and if you need to kill the lamia, it’s best to be fast and do so in close combat. If I fire this rifle, we’re going to get swarmed. They tend to run and call others around them if they feel overwhelmed, and they attract to loud sounds.”
Nekimo nods. “Everyone, stay back. She will try to kill me, but you do nothing unless I pass out like her right now." Nekimo gives Ginika her gun, armed only with a switchblade that belonged to Lilly tucked in her skirt where her own ceremonial knife used to be. She walks out of hiding.
"Stop, I am queen of… I’ll think of a name later..." Nekimo warns while walking toward the long-tailed creature who turns and greets her presence with a gentle smile. The creature’s hungry yellow eyes scan and stop at her empty hands before slithering quickly toward her with an excited look on her face, reaching out as if to give her a hug.
Nekimo quickly pushes herself back and grabs the switchblade from the band of her skirt. Those eyes shift expressions in a split second and the tone of the encounter changes; the façade of friendliness is apparently no longer useful. The lamia lunges at her while she fumbles with her new knife trying to find the latch to unlock it. She pushes her hand against the lamia’s neck to hold her off a moment while feeling the metal latch and popping the blade open.
With all her strength she wraps her fist around the handle and slams it into the lamia’s chest with enough force to sink in and rob the beast of breath. Nekimo viciously shoves the blade inward, attacking that center of life until the enraged creature shoves her and whips her hand, sending the knife into the air. The lamia’s larger body backed by her massive tail overwhelms Nekimo as it presses on and makes her fall. Strong hands force her wrists behind her back while the thick tail engulfs and bind her legs with surprising control. Intense yellow eyes fill Nekimo’s vision as hot breaths pour down her neck and the lamia’s inhumanly powerful heartbeat hammers against her chest.
Desperation to move succeeds only in her losing one of her shoes before her legs are rendered immobile. The muscular appendage creeps up around her hips and then her lower belly while throbs in sync with the beast’s heart. Being consumed in this mighty and vivid yet gentle pulse might be rather relaxing if it wasn’t trying to kill her.
It’s when Nekimo resigns herself to her fate to test the loyalty of her group that she notices a hot wet liquid flowing between them. While their chests are pressed together as the creature slithers up to bind her arms, The unmistakable hot liquid almost burns when it flows down her belly and sides. Her sudden relief comes to the confusion of those draining eyes watching hers closely.
The lamia’s vivid heartbeat becomes increasingly erratic between labored breaths. As her tail wraps around Nekimo’s chest and forces its way between them, the princess pulls her arms forward, now overpowering her captor’s strength. Worry set in for the lamia while Nekimo’s arms twist from her grip and her hands reach around her neck, squeezing tightly to stifle her desperate breaths. Her tail’s grip gets tighter and makes it feels as though Nekimo’s hips will buckle before the creature seems to give up and release her. Nekimo aggressively squeezes the beast’s neck as her body goes limp save for futile gasping as Nekimo holds the weakened gasping woman up with all her might, the snake-woman's chest hangs against her grip, her eyes desperate and pleading. The lamia attempts to draw breath makes blood gush from the flowing wound and air to suck into her chest. The beast finally loses consciousness and Nekimo lets her body drop, still feeling the powerful erratic throbbing on her chest while she catches her own breath, the tail’s pulse almost disappears around her. The beating gets slower, softer, and less rhythmic while her body continues to be covered by its warmth. Finally, she rolls the thick soft attacker from atop her and gets up, walking toward the other woman.
Before Nekimo can even call them over Orisa runs to the Lamia’s side. She frantically drops and opens her surgical kit before Hailey rests a hand on her shoulder in a calming gesture.
“Don’t worry, I’m trained to start ‘em and stop ‘em. I’ll take care of the tribal girl, you focus your attention on her, sweetie. You’re not the only one here to save lives, I have a lot of debt to repay.” Hailey lets out in a calming voice.
Orisa turns back and smiles. “Thank you… “
Hailey looks on curiously as Nekimo stumbles on her shaky legs to the Adaego tribeswoman and drags her head closer to the river beside them before she spreads her body out and straddles her hips. She puts a hand on the toned warrior's chest and sits there a moment while she catches her breath. She pinches the woman’s nose and blows air into her lungs, causing her chest to rise before falling slowly. Returning her lips to repeat one more time to fill the woman’s lungs with her own before she slides her fingers down her neck to the middle of her sternum. She places one hand over the other and interlocks them before shoving hard and making her ribs bow deeply under each hard compression. The unconscious woman’s slightly muscular figure jerks like a rubbery doll while Nekimo sinks her hands into her chest as quickly as it rebounds.
The people gather round and stays silent as they watch the princess pump the passive organ with domineering force, asserting herself against the heart demandingly.
The lamia wakes up feeling a pat against her cheek. An ebony woman in an open white coat with an infectious gentle smile peers down at her. Each breath feels sharp and heavy while a weak quivering fills her chest. Her lips tremble as air passes through them while woman’s hand presses gently over her wound. The desire to escape is still strong with less friendly looking people looming over her in a threatening manner. However, attempting to move becomes a futile strain which leads to giving in and accepting fate. Her eyes avert themselves from the woman’s silver knife entering her wound and cutting it further open as it becomes harder to breathe. Soon the pain will be over…
The woman shoves a finger into her chest and moves it around, eventually pulling it out and grabbing something from a plastic box. The urge to see what she’s doing is overwhelming, but her body can barely move as she desperately draws breath at every moment. The woman pulls out a curved needle and threads it before another walks and stands over her, agitated.
“Orisa, why are you wasting our supplies?” The soldier says, stepping on the lamia’s belly.
Nekimo’s voice calls out from the distant among heavy breaths as she pumps the other woman’s chest.
“Leave her alone, Kimia, she took an oath. You will respect that.”
Kimia replies. “So, should I just kill it if that’s all it takes?” The woman kneels and her hand squeezes tightly around the lamia’s neck. Pressure fills her head; the world becomes fuzzy and dark.
“No, stop it!” Orisa yells.
“Get away from Orisa now! Ginika, handle that.”
the woman leaves, and a larger woman enters the lamia’s hazy sight. Orisa guides the needle between her ribs and follows it with tweezers,
Orisa speaks “Ginika, her chest is open so I can put these sutures in, Keep her breathing, please.”
Ginika nervously grabs her jaw and head, lowering her lips before she pours warm air into the lamia’s lungs which sharpens her vision and teases her oxygen-starved body. She separates and the air leaves her, then again. As humiliating as it is, the lamia’s desperate eyes beg for more of the large woman’s addictive breaths. With her head guided by calloused but gentle hands, her vision fixed into the direction her head is turned, she awaits Ginika’s lips as they pull her attention from the bloody scene below. The gentle woman takes another deep breath and empties her lungs into her, invading her body and filling her with life while the other woman’s touch stings her slightly.
“Almost done, thank you” Orisa lets out as she pulls the needle out from the corner of the Lamia’s vision and pushes scissors into the open wound, snipping the thread.
Orisa threads the needle again, this time it stings as it enters her skin. Orisa grabbing a tube and pushing it into the wound before she continues. The needle pushes in again and she flinches this time, startling both of them. Unable to speak their language but fully understanding, the inability to thank them and set their worries aside becomes frustrating. Fear of spooking them fills her mind as she lies there until Orisa continues working.
“She’s in no position to attack, even when we’re done. Don’t worry, Ginika”
The needle goes in again and she does her best not to flinch, meanwhile Ginika unloads another deep breath into her lungs and she smiles appreciatively.
“Cute” Ginika comments. “I don’t think she wants to hurt us. She looks really happy right now.”
Orisa replies “Don’t get too comfortable. Looking innocent is how they eat, Ginika. Remember, she’s probably just hungry.”
Ginika, lets out a sigh and brushes her hand through the lamia’s hair, filling her with another breath. At this point she feels strong enough to move but continues to lie comfortably in their care while eagerly taking in Ginika’s air.
“I guess you’re right. She just looks content right now, I can’t help but want to hug her, but … that’s how she tried to get Nekimo. guess we’re just lucky she’s too weak to move.”
As Orisa finishes up, she attaches a machine to the other end of the tube which, when turned on, makes a motorized sound while drawing out air. It becomes dramatically easier to breathe. Finally she withdraws the tube and quickly pulls on the thread which shuts the wound.
Nekimo’s voice yells out. “Orisa, I need some help here.”

Reinhardt Tips
Fair warning, this is gonna be a pretty long post but that means it includes a lot of things which will be helpful, so bear with me.
IMPORTANT: Your shield is by far the most important part of your kit. Even when you are doing other things you always need to keep your shield close to the front of your mind, because it will always be useful.
Communication:
As a main tank, communication is absolutely vital. Voice chat is always best, but if that is not possible use the built-in commands and occasionally text chat to let your team know what you need them to do.
If nobody else is doing it, you need to call out whenever you see a flanker going behind your team, and alert your teammates to the position of any sniper in a threatening position. You should not make them a priority because you need to anchor your team with your shield but calling them out will at the very least make your team aware of threats and ideally they will focus them.
Call out when your shield is at half and quarter health, and when you’re about to put the shield down. This will give your team time to get into cover so they don’t get picked. This is not as vital, but calling when you will use your firestrike will also let your team know they won’t have shield momentarily. Don’t be afraid to call people to get behind your shield if they are walking too far forward, because the magic blue rectangle saves lives.
Being the anchor tank means there’s a good chance you will be the one calling the pushes. If your team makes one or two key picks, or has some other advantage, call out for your team to move in and start walking in yourself. If your team moves all moves in as a unit, there’s a much better chance you’ll win the fight. This also means you need to call for your teammates to fall back and regroup if you’re obviously losing the team fight. This will stop them throwing away precious ults in an attempt to turn around a fight you’ve already lost. It takes time and practice to know when to call your team out of the fight and when it’s worth pushing a bit harder, but you’ll improve over time.
Positioning:
You want to hold either in or just behind choke points most of the time. You are your team’s first line of defense against front-on attacks, so you should be in front of your teammates. The area behind your shield becomes a space where your low mobility teammates will gather, so make sure that it’s up as much as you can have it. It’s also very important to have permanent cover at the edge of your shield, so your teammates can retreat to safety when the shield is down. Setting up at the back of a doorway or choke means your team can easily retreat to safety when your shield goes down.
When you’re playing, always be thinking about what you’re going to do when the shield breaks and the enemy pushes. You need to have an escape plan and ideally you want to have a clear path to the next place you’ll be holding. For the first point on Hollywood, you want to hold to the left of the car so that you can fall back to the point instead of being forced to the right and being cut off from your team.
High ground above a choke can also be effective, particularly at the start of Gibraltar and Dorado defenses, and to a lesser extent Junkertown. If you do this, remember taking cover can be as simple as stepping back from the edge. You also need to drop down quickly with your team when the enemy does push through, and call out that you’re doing that.
When the hold falls apart and it turns into a skirmish on the point, your positioning becomes slightly less vital, but you need to make sure you are still close to your team and you don’t overextend. Never ever lose sight of your healers, they are your lifeline in a team fight and there is nothing worse than a healer who could heal but their team is just slightly out of sight.
It is not your job to take care of flankers, because you have an extremely limited range and your main job is to protect the team from the front. Call out to your team to try to take out the flankers, and don’t let them distract them from your main task. If a Tracer or Genji pokes you and you turn to try to take them on or walk away from the choke, you’re giving the enemy team a huge opening to push in and take out your teammates. Try to only turn your shield when your teammates are in need of shielding from behind, or if the rest of the enemy is not at the choke.
Abilities
Shield
This is Rein’s most valuable ability, and what your gameplay should be focused around. You want to have it up as much as you can. Never let your shield break from chip damage through a choke, you need to take it down when it’s at about 250-100hp, depending on how much damage it’s taking. A broken shield will be unusable for several seconds while it recharges, while even a very low health shield in an emergency can be invaluable. Save the last hp of your shield to block single-damage ults such as D.Va’s bomb or another Rein’s shatter.
Try to recharge your shield in between team fights when there is no danger to your teammates. If this is impossible, call your team back to cover and take cover yourself while it charges back to full.
Jumping
When you’ve got your shield up, you will move slowly. Jumping and then putting your shield up will allow you to cover valuable ground while moving at full speed in the air. This is especially useful around corners. Jump around a corner and put your shield up, so you’ll end up in the right position to hold much faster. That way your shield also won’t start taking damage until you’re in a good position to shield the team.
Firestrike
This is how you will gain most of your ult charge. Try to use it pretty much as soon as it’s off cooldown, but keep your shield up and wait if your teammates are at very low hp. You need to exploit the firestrike’s ability to travel through enemies when you use it, so try to fire at dense groups of enemies, or wherever gives you the best chance of hitting multiple times. For example, this line on hollywood almost always hits 2 or 3 enemies. With enough practice you’ll start seeing good lines for firestrikes in a lot of chokes.
The Firestrike puts out 100 damage (130 damage boosted), which means it’s great for finishing off low hp targets. Low mobility heroes are easiest to hit but with enough practice you can predict where low health flankers will go and take them out a surprising amount of the time.
Charge
Your charge is very effective, but also very risky. Before you charge, think to yourself “what will happen if I miss”. There’s a good chance your target can avoid your charge and you want to be able to recover from that without losing the fight. This means you DO NOT charge straight through a choke at the enemy team. Ideally, you want your target close in front of you and a wall not far behind them. When you’re defending a choke, wait until a tank or support has walked through the choke and then charge sideways across the choke at them. This way when your charge ends you are still in the defending side of the choke and you will survive.
DO NOT charge off a cliff, it’s almost never worth it. You will most likely kill the enemy when they hit a wall anyway, or at least damage them enough that your team can finish them off.
Try to avoid charging onto the point as initiation unless you have teammates there who can support you. The last thing you want is to be separated from your team.
That said, charge is an extremely powerful tool because it has the ability to open a team right up by picking a key hero right out of the middle of the team. If you do have support, by all means charge aggressively onto the point, because even if you miss the charge you’ll send the whole enemy team back to the point to defend it. With enough practice, you’ll eventually get a feeling of when it is good to charge and when you need to walk forward with your shield instead.
Target Selection
You’re most likely to pin tanks because they are slow moving and have large hitboxes, but supports - especially mercy - are also valuable picks so choose whichever is likely to have the best results with the least chance of catastrophic failure.
When you’re attacking, targets such as rein and Orisa are good targets, but watch out for Orisa’s fortify - make sure it’s been used before you charge. While bastion is a stationary target and easy to hit, you are quickly melted by the damage, so unless the bastion is immobilised by a shatter or you have a Zarya shield, or the bastion is distracted by your team, avoid charging at a bastion.
Earthshatter
This is great as an initiator ult for a team fight, so try to use it when there are two or more enemies in the area of effect. Be very aware of what blocks your ult. Rein, Orisa and Winston shields stop it dead in it’s tracks, while a Zarya shield will save their target AND anyone standing behind them. Mei walls will also block the effect. Try to use your team to bait out or break these before you shatter. A great opportunity to use shatter is when the enemy Rein is using fire strike since they can’t put their shield up to block, but you have to be quick if you do decide to go. Tell your team when you’re going to ult so they don’t blow extra ults (grav) and so they can get ready to take out the stunned enemies. After a good shatter, you can often gain as much as 70% of your next ult just from the damage you do. You won't get ult from enemies who are stunned but once they get up, you're already in the middle of them and doing damage. Firestrike and charge the ulted enemies and then start swinging.
Hammer
When you’re swinging your hammer your shield is down and your team is vulnerable so you have to pick your moments. In very close chokes such as Hanamura or Hollywood 1st, get in close, make a single swing, and then quickly put your shield up again. This minimises the time your team is left exposed.
When the team is on the point and all hell breaks loose, it’s a different story. Swing that hammer at low hp enemies to finish them off, or at groups of enemies to exploit the fact that your hammer hits everyone in its arc. Always remember your shield though, and alternating between shield and swing is important. You want about a 60/40 split of hammer/shield, with more shield if you’re taking a lot of damage. Your ult can charge surprisingly fast like this, so be sure to use your shatter if there is a good opportunity to do so.
Hero matchups
Rein
Playing against another good Rein is one of the great joys in the game. Your main job is to protect your team, but you also play a big part in ensuring the enemy Rein can’t do their job.
The enemy team will be gathered behind the shield and Rein moves slowly so he’s a great target for firestrikes. Try to jump out of the way of the enemy firestrikes if you can. Sometimes dropping your shield for faster movement is worth it to deny the enemy rein ult charge.
Rein, and tanks in general, are good charge targets.
Shatter when the enemy Rein doesn’t have their shield up, after it’s been broken or while they’re firestriking. Try to bait out the enemy ult by momentarily dropping your shield when you know the rein has ult and pretending to use firestrike, but instead bring the shield up again to block the shatter.
Try to figure out when an enemy rein has ult by looking at how they position themselves and how they act. Some players are very eager to use ult and baiting them can draw it out pretty easily if they have it.
D.Va
D.Va’s Defense Matrix can delete your firestrike, so try to strike when it’s on cooldown. Sometimes, coordinating a firestrike just before a Zarya, Hanzo or Mei ult can ensure DM is on cooldown so the ult won’t get eaten.
Roadhog
Your shield blocks his hook, so keeping it up will save your team from being picked. When you firestrike you are vulnerable to hooks yourself so try to stay out of range or be somewhere the hook will break. Close range he is dangerous but also an easy charge target, but beware of being hooked after the charge.
Pharah
There’s not much you can do against a free roaming Pharah apart from asking your team for assistance. Try not to be too distracted by the Pharah and keep your shield focused on where the other enemies are unless your teammates are very low.
Bastion/Junk/High damage heroes
These heroes melt your shields very quickly. Use map cover as much as you can, But if your shield isn’t staying up long enough to be useful, consider switching to Orisa or Zarya.
Snipers (fight toe to toe you cowards)
You’re the team’s main protection against these threats, and you have to rely on your team to take them out. Call out sniper positions and keep your shield up as much as possible.
Attacking and Defending
When you’re attacking, you want to play more aggressively. Your firestrike becomes a valuable tool for making opening picks or taking out a torb turret, and your charge is a good way of peeling open the enemy defense. If you have a lot of heals, you can afford to play very aggressively but make sure you don’t overextend. Your shatter is a great way to secure the win in a team fight. Even taking out a support and one other player with a shatter can really turn the tide of a battle. Exploit the fact that your ult starts charging the second you use your ult and do as much damage as you can while the enemy is down.
When you’re defending, play a lot more conservatively. Use your charge to punish enemies who push too far into your team, and use your firestrike to do damage to key targets like tanks and supports. Your shatter can shut down a push completely and it’s a great way of stopping the enemy from reaching the point in overtime.
How do I get better?
The only way you’re going to get better is by practice and perseverance. Spend time playing Rein and try to think about what you’re doing and where you’re positioned. When you die, or lose a push, or miss a shatter, don’t get upset. Instead, try to think what you could of done differently to improve your play. Losses are always going to happen no matter how well you play so be gracious in defeat, because if you’re angry or bitter you’ll learn nothing about how to play better next time.

ORISA, coming out of nowhere
using custom servers as nsfw rp rooms
the rise of SPEED BOOSTIO; we all dspstanky now
shimada nipple 2 blackwatch boogaloo
”REYES HERE”
ingame reyes shrug victory pose
there are A L O T of little balance changes i didn’t list; honorable mention to the 3x consecutive fan-the-hammer nerf, the invulnerable mercy rez patch, and the [almost] fall of ana, and the phrase “fixed a bug allowing reaper to shadow step to unintended locations in x map” appearing in pretty much every single patch since the beginning. and some onging fanstuff honorable mentions to “hanzo is a fucking furry [and into vore]”, “can we go one fucking event without tracer getting a legendary skin”, “torblefeet” [and just. torbjorn in general.], and the whole dad76/family dynamic among the characters that quickly took hold among fans [and even blizz to an extent!]
the meta is a far cry from where it was in the beginning and there’s so many more ways to play overwatch now than when it’d first started, but it’s always been that same fun game with fun characters; here’s to another year of its evolution, and enjoy the event y’all!
#overwatch anniversary#overwatch#i'm..... i'm not tagging all the characters. it's not worth it.#maybe later#bweeeaaahh#YALL I'VE BEEN WORKING ON THIS POST SINCE WE GOT SOMBRA#Popular post#or at least close enough

Overwatch on Bethesda’s Creation Engine
Doomfist: His handcanon and fist are now two separate weapons because you can dual-wield a gun and a melee weapon.
Genji: When Genji ults he floats weaponless in a t-pose for a couple seconds because the hotkey system needs time to figure out what he’s trying to do when he pulls out his sword.
McCree: His flashbang works but sometimes it doesn’t, he also can’t fire his gun for 5 seconds after Combat Rolling.
Pharah: The splash damage from her rockets can be completely avoided if you’re standing behind anything, regardless of its size, such as destroyed railing debris.
Reaper: More often than not, Reaper’s Shadow Step will cause him to fall through the map because he’s teleporting to a section that hasn’t loaded yet.
Soldier 76: His biotic field won’t heal you if you’re standing in its radius when it’s first placed. In order to heal from it you have to walk out of the radius and then back in.
Sombra: Her hacking ability and EMP can’t stop abilities that have already started. Her translocator drops her through the map if she walks too far away from it since the area she placed it in isn’t loaded anymore.
Tracer: Tracer has to wait through a loading screen every time she blinks, because she’s blinking to areas of the map that haven’t loaded yet and the game doesn’t want her to see that much pop-in.
Bastion: Switching between Recon, Sentry, and Tank configuration takes a couple minutes because the game has to switch Bastion’s race in order to add the new functionality.
Hanzo: His Sonic Arrow doesn’t work unless you’re near where it hit since you need to be close enough for the other players’ models to be loaded in.
Junkrat: His Total Mayhem passive drops frames like they’re hot and can crash the game because of how many grenades spawn out of him at once and all the resulting explosions happening successively.
Mei: Anyone standing on the line where she will place her Ice Wall when she uses it will more often than not clip directly through it, and sometimes either appear on one side or be stuck until it’s gone.
Torbjorn: His turret needs 12 Adhesive, 25 Screws, 10 Metal and 5 circuitry to be built, upgraded, and repaired every single time. He gets these materials from entering workshop mode and scrapping objects in the environment.
Widowmaker: It’s now much more difficult to headshot because the hitboxes aren’t always properly aligned with the model.
D.Va: The entire game freezes for 5 minutes when her mech gets destroyed because the game has to initiate a race change, her self-destruct can be avoided by hiding behind anything regardless of its size, her fusion canons sometimes start firing blanks and she needs to stop firing for a second in order to fix it, and defense matrix can only block non-hitscan projectiles.
Orisa: Her Fortify ability will look active but most of the time might not actually be active since the self-casted magic effect didn’t apply correctly.
Reinhardt: His charge knocks down players on impact instead of pushing them into a wall and killing them on impact with the wall, and his shield and hammer are now two separate weapons because you can’t cast a ward while holding a two-handed weapon.
Roadhog: His Scrap Gun now only has primary fire as secondary fire is just ironsights, and Whole Hog can clip players through the map geometry.
Winston: His Jump Pack ability can cause him to fall through the map if it doesn’t load in time, and his Tesla Cannon is the worst and weakest weapon in the game.
Zarya: You need 10 Strength in order to carry her weapon and her Particle Cannon has infinite range (visually, but not actually).
Ana: Her Sleep Dart actually functions by killing the player and respawning them back in the same exact place after a few seconds, meanwhile their “dead” ragdoll can clip through map geometry, spazz out due to physics collision errors and ACTUALLY kill them while stretching their body across the map.
Lucio: His wall-riding ability applies even to invisible walls meant to keep players from going too far off the map.
Mercy: The reload speed on her blaster is slower than usual until she pulls her staff out and then her blaster again, and she can only Resurrect players up to 10 levels higher than her.
Symmetra: Players who step through her Teleporter need to wait through a loading screen as they fast-travel to a new area.
Zenyatta: His Orb of Harmony and Orb of Discord are now 2 different weapons that Zenyatta has to hastily switch between, and either of his orbs can be applied to both teammates and enemies.

I literally got play of the game stolen right out from under me. So there was an Orisa and she had her shield so I waited until the Roadhog on my team used his ultimate and break it then I used my ultimate. “HAMMER DOWN!” Four members of the enemy team fall with it. I charge. Kill one. My Reaper kills another and I get an assist. I swing and kill two more. Turn and firestrike at a Widowmaker who then gets killed by our Pharah so that counted as another kill. I killed five people. Then later freaking Reaper goes in and uses Death Blossom and kills four.
HE STOLE MY PLAY OF THE GAME!!!

💛 femfeb day 6 | my femfeb masterpost 🧡 xposted → ao3 | dw | pf.io 💖 Orisa/Sombra | 2k | Explicit 🧡 PWP, Human/Robot, Cybernetic Sex, Masturbation, Robot kink, Dubcon if u squint 💛 Orisa has some secret functions buried in her processor that Sombra makes good use of.
Sombra sat back in her chair, basking in the glow of the multiple screens in front of her. She had finally come to a stopping point in what she had been researching. She took in a deep breath and stretched her arms up over her head. Digging up dirt on people wasn’t easy. It wasn’t all neatly stored in one place. It was like panning for gold. So much silt with so little value. She could spend hours digging through encrypted correspondences between her target and their employers, only to then get sidetracked by a deep dive into financial or court records, and still come up empty. It was easy to get lost in her work and lose track of time. She winced when she checked the clock. It was much later than she thought it was. She hadn’t meant to get this distracted. Surely everyone else was asleep by now. Even if they weren’t, most of the night owls around here kept to themselves, safe in their own rooms. Sombra shifted and stretched a little more. She flexed the muscles in her neck and shoulders that got stiff when she sat in front of screens like this for too long. She carefully locked her computer and powered down all the monitors. She was only wearing a pair of panties and a tank top, but she didn’t think anyone would be awake to see her, so she slipped out of her room without bothering to put any more clothes on. The tile floors in the hallway were cold under her bare feet. The lights had been dimmed. The entire watchpoint was quiet and dark. There was something lonely about it, in a way. This was a place that should be bustling with people. Instead it was just her in the dull light, footsteps quietly echoing off the walls as she walked. Sneaking around the base in the middle of the night probably wasn’t a good idea. Her teammates at Overwatch barely trusted her as it was, and most of them thought she was some kind of double agent. (She didn’t exactly blame them for thinking that.) Getting caught out of her room this late would be suspicious as all hell, but that didn’t stop her. Sombra went for the room that everyone was colloquially referring to as the ‘repair room’. It must have been a research and development lab back before the fall, but after the recall it served as a staging area for anyone who wanted to work on something metal or mechanical. Brigitte hammered away at her armor here, Torbjorn tinkered with turrets, Hana made repairs to her mech, Bastion made repairs to himself. It was all-purpose. It was also where two of the three omnics in the team ‘slept at night’. Or, more accurately, where they spent their time recharging or giving their processing systems a break by powering down most of their functions for a while. There were a few massive berths that almost doubled as beds. It wasn’t uncommon to come in here late at night and find Orisa or Bastion tucked away on one in stand-by mode just waiting for interaction or input to rouse them. Sombra opened the repair room door and glanced inside. Sometimes her teammates and fellow Overwatch agents could be found toiling away at late in the night. None of them were here now. A few staging lights here and there kept the room from being pitch black. The heavy scents or metal, ink, and oil were rich in here. Sombra quietly stepped inside, closing the door behind her. She walked over to the OR15, Orisa, who had forgone the berth to curl up neatly on the floor in a corner instead. Her dual sets of legs were curled underneath her like a loafing cat. She was connected with a handful of hardline cables to a port on the wall, charging. She was an omnic, not a cellphone, she didn’t need to be connected to a wall socket in order to power up. Still, the extra energy would help sustain her during the next mission. Knowing full well that data could be sent through that cable to who knows where, Sombra’s very first move was to unplug it before doing anything that might get logged. This instantly brought Orisa to life. Her unique pupils widened into glowing golden plus signs. The near silent whirring of previously dormant mechanics coming back online filled the quiet room. “Orisa online,” she announced, modulated voice impossibly loud compared to the relative quiet of the repair room. “Hey, okay. Lower the volume girlfriend.” Sombra told her straight away. “Complying.” Orisa’s voice lowered in volume immediately, falling to a more acceptable level. “Good morning, Sombra. How can I be of assistance?” Jeez, it technically was morning wasn’t it? Sombra decided to be quick, lest some early bird come in to start work before the sun was up. She still had the unplugged cable in hand, and she brought it around, guiding the connector to the port at the back of her neck. Even after years of having cybernetic implants it still felt weird to jack into something. Her neck and the base of her skull got oddly warm and then went numb. She tasted metal in her mouth. It passed a few seconds later. The light nodes connected to the implants trilled, pulsing purple in the low light, and then dimmed to a barely-there glow. “Orisa, access OR14 non-violence programming and scan for PleasureTech coding.” Sombra told her. The first time Sombra had tried something like this, she was met with polite refusal. Something about ‘Only Efi has access to that information’. She felt a little bad about hacking into a sentient being and stripping that safety mechanism out, but not bad enough to stop from doing it. Now Orisa didn’t say anything, she just accessed the programming as asked. “Commencing scan,” Orisa told her quietly, eyes shuttering to slits as if to block out visual stimulus in order to concentrate efforts on scanning. Not that there was much to see in the vacant repair room. Sombra could feel her processing the information. It felt like rain was coming, a storm on the horizon. She could feel it in the air, sense that it was happening, but there was nothing she could do about it. Something bigger was at work. Something she couldn’t entirely control. It would rain, and Orisa would find the information she was looking for. All Sombra had to do was wait. She admired the fine figure of the omnic before her. The gentle sloping curve of the tusk-like appendages attached to her helm. The smooth expanse of her massive chassis. The silky, soft-touch finish of the silicone exterior that covered many of her parts. She was a beautiful machine. Sombra had to admit that. She normally didn’t go for omnics, and if she did OR15s weren’t her type, but Orisa was a fine specimen. It was objectively and obviously clear. Orisa’s eyes opened, a pale-yellow light to mix in with the purple glow of Sombra’s cybernetics. “Located compressed PleasureTech files.” Two decades after the omnic crisis, when people started to trust bots again, the Numbani government had revived their OR14 program. The OR14s were used for service and security before the crisis, and they were meant to be used for the same thing once they were back up and running. The OR14s were refurbished, recoded, and reworked into shiny new OR15s. In an effort to minimize risk, multiple non-violence programs were installed. Except, whoever was in charge of installing these programs hadn’t bothered to write the code themselves. Instead, they lifted it from a leading sex bot company; PleasureTech. Absolutely no one wanted a sexually motivated bot becoming violent against humans, and thus sex robots were generally the most secure when it came to non-violent measures. It was a good idea, honestly. Sombra didn’t fault whoever thought it up. The only problem was that it was hard to cleanly extract the code from its frame work of sex. It was like trying to pull a plant out by its roots and expecting not to pull up any dirt. It didn’t work like that. So, the files were neatly compressed, tucked away, dormant… Until Sombra came poking around. After the crisis, things like sex bots become more or less obsolete. No one was interested in fucking omnics anymore. The few that were still willing weren’t buying enough sex bots to keep the entire industry afloat. Just about every company making them went under, PleasureTech included. Their technology was lost to the general public but Sombra had her ways of finding it. The last place she ever expected it to show up was buried in the core processor of an OR15, but she wasn’t complaining. She appreciated the easy access. “Uncompress PleasureTech files and find executable actions,” Sombra ordered. “Complying,” Sombra intoned happily. This was a quicker process; a few seconds and it was done. “Several sequences are compatible with current hardware and user interface.” “Select a sequence and initiate it. A short one.” Almost immediately Sombra felt it happen. The weird warm numbing sensation surged from the back of her neck and an oddly delightful feeling replaced it. Like she was tasting something sweet, but the sweetness was flooding through her muscles instead. Down her neck, relaxing her shoulder, pulsing down the length of her arm to tingle the tips of her fingers. She reached out, grasping for Orisa with one hand. Orisa moved to gently cradle her, rigid arms caging Sombra, offering support for her to lean into. She said nothing. The language associated with these processes were likely lost during the reinstallation. That was fine. Neither of them needed to speak. All that mattered was how it felt, and god it felt good. Goosebumps rose over her skin. Her cybernetics went vibrant and bright. Pleasure crawled down her spine, making her back arch and her toes curl. Sombra was soaking it in, bathing in the thrilling sensation. It pulsed throughout her entire body. The pleasure wasn’t specific. It didn’t feel like any one thing in particular. It was just a flood of yes, good, oh god, yes. It took her a few seconds to recover her wits enough to slide a hand underneath the waistband of her panties. Though her cybernetics were localized down her spine and over the curve of her skull, she did have a few implants running through her hands to the tips of her fingers. She might as well be thrusting a vibrator between her legs for how it felt. It was a good thing Orisa was holding her up because she damn near went weak. The pleasure was only heightening, becoming stronger and more intense as each second passed. It began to roll over her like waves lapping at a sea shore. Slow pulses of intensity followed by a few relaxed seconds to allow a short recovery. It made her breathing go all shaky. She fingered herself, stroking between the delicate folds of flesh and over her sensitive clit. This wasn’t like the carnal fire of fucking hard and fast, or the exciting spark of sensual sex. This was quietly blissful, a rising euphoria that radiated from all her cybernetics. Something that humans couldn’t recreate no matter how hard they tried. Sombra kept her moans to herself, locking them in her throat as best she could. A few quiet ones escaped, of course. She could only do so much. The rapturous ecstasy rose and rose, each pulse more deliciously intense than the last. She felt her orgasm building, mixing in with the rise of electric pleasure. She didn’t really need to rub herself, but she did anyway, coaxing herself to climax. When she came it was like the whole world came crashing down around her. She went stiff and still and let the technology carry her through the fervor. When it was done, when the best of it had finished and faded into quiet pulsating aftershocks, she let out a gasping breath. “Would you like me to stop the sequence?” Orisa asked. “Yeah,” Sombra managed between her panting. She was all over sensitive now. If she had more time she might have carried on, chasing the pleasure into a second or maybe even a third orgasm. Maybe tomorrow night she would… All the things she had been feeling abruptly stopped, fading away to nothing instead as Orisa terminated the sequence. She took a few seconds to gather herself. She tested her legs and found them steady enough to stand upright. As soon as she had her balance, Orisa let go of her, arms returning to their stationary positions at her sides. Before disconnecting the hardline cable from the port in her neck, Sombra transmitted a program to sweep any trace of her interaction with Orisa from the omnic’s logging system. Though she had a few handy lies about why she might be messing around in the OR15’s processor, it was better to just wipe her tracks entirely. She had ten seconds to disconnect and plug the charger back into its wall socket before the action logs began recording again. She made quick work of it. Orisa powered back down to her standard recharging position. Her eyes shuttered, dimmed, and she looked as though she was sleeping. Sombra still couldn’t believe how lucky she was to have found an omnic with PleasureTech programming loaded into it. It was a lot of extra effort to get off, but well worth it in the end. She felt sated and happy and was fully ready to crash on her bed back in her room.

Animal Crossing: Overwatch Editon
very much inspred by @laughingbear
Soldier 76: A cranky dog neighbor, no doubt. Has an odd fondness for the stripe series. The one who always asks you to get him fruit or deliver a present he could have easily done himself. Sits on benches a lot, namely next to Ana. Only sends necessities through the mail like a toilet, shower, and chairs attached to a brief letter along the lines of “saw you didn’t have this…”
Reaper: Cranky ass bird type. Has K.K. Rock playing in his house at full blast. The only time you’re invited into his home is when you let yourself in but he sure as well won’t give a warning when he walks into yours. Sends gifts to 76 that he knows they’ll hate. Gets into the most arguments. Never requests PWP’s or donates to current ones. He secretly looks forward to Halloween.
Tracer: Your peppy squirrel neighbor whose in a full dash 24/7. The most social of your neighbors, she’s the one whose always popping exclamation points just to ask trivial questions and compliment you. Requests a lot of PWP’s because she honestly wants to see the town grow. Will send you letters back to back because her messages are just that long.
Genji: Sorta jock, sorta lazy-he’s rather chill and easy to get along with. Doesn’t have many delivery requests since most of his gifts are for Zenyatta anyway. Very fond of stumps that he uses for meditation. Owns all the sword based items. His house is a cross between zen and casual furniture.
McCree: That one whose always shaking trees. K.K. Country. Cow skin rug and country guitar are his treasures. Not a regular letter writer and insists on talking face to face. Will say he doesn’t need medicine even when he’s sick. Catchphrase is “partner”. Is honestly upset that the cafe doesn’t serve liquor and then will promptly request you build a bar.
Sombra: Your weird ucchi neighbor. She has a a strange habit of sneaking into your place without you knowing and suddenly acquiring that piece of furniture you wouldn’t sell her before. Conversations are namely her gossiping about other neighbors. Has an awful lot of Gracie items she claims she got for free but very fond of her laptop and server.
Pharah: Your most trust worthy ucchi bird neighbor. Likes any sky themed or light blue furniture. A regular coffee drinker. Is the most productive of your neighbors and almost always has a fishing rod or net in her hand. Takes your opinions about her house to heart and always seeks to improve it.
Torbjörn: Cranky hamster. He spends the most time inside his house and if he is outside he’s either stirring up arguments or sleeping on a specific tree stump. The gifts he sends you never match the rest of your furniture. Will request the most PWP’s but won’t ever fucking donate. Buys stuff mostly at the pawn shop since it’s cheaper.
Widowmaker: Really fucking snooty cat. Only really comes out of her house during the nighttime. She doesn’t send out invitations to her birthday because she either thinks you already know or doesn’t want you to, you can’t tell. Never requests anything ever. If she does come to your house, she’ll send a letter later saying that she didn’t like it. Owns a spiderweb shirt. K.K. Étude.
Mei: Adorable normal bear cub. Leaves her house a lot more often during the winter months and managed to get her hands on the rare ice furniture set before you. Owns a wide arsenal of sweaters. The most likely to request gift deliveries for pretty much everyone. Prefers to exchange items rather than buy them. A big fan of the museum.
Junkrat: The weirdest mouse neighbor you have. The one who will buy the flea you just swiped off his head a second ago. Will laugh in your face if you get a bee sting. Honestly enjoys falling into pitfall seeds. His house is pretty much a shack with tires but always invites you over anyway. Catchphrase is “kaboom!”
Bastion: Your handy donation gyroid that has a habit of attracting what you can only guess is the same yellow bird. Doesn’t talk much but is always there for you when you’re doing late night gardening.
Hanzo: A strange combination of smug and cranky. Always threatens to leave but you always talk him out of it. Has a rather spartan but still nicely organized home filled with only the best zen items. Won’t sell anything. Genji is permanently not invited to his birthday parties. K.K Jongara.
D.Va: A peppy bunny, of course. Her favorite items in her room are her game shelf and crane machine and no matter how many times you come over, she’ll never sell them to you. She’s the one always requesting games of hide and seek. Considers all of her letters to be fan mail. Will give you her photo as a gift without you asking.
Orisa: A sweet, normal horse neighbor. She’ll be the first to give you her photo even after you just met. LOVES to send letters to the point you’re technically pen pals. Requests PWP’s related to safety like stop signs, trashcans, and traffic lights and will actually donate to them. A big fan of petitions-”Omnics Are People Too”, “Be Cool and Recycle”. Will make requests just for Efi.
Zarya: The ultimate jock-ucchi bear. Comrade K.K. Never donates to PWP’s just because the gyroid looks like an omnic. Her house is mostly just exercise equipment and a bed. Is set to win any sort of event be it the Fishing Tourney or the Bug Off, she wants first place. Claims you should be proud of your killer bee stings.
Roadhog: Very, very quiet pig neighbor who mysteriously acquired the gas mask accessory. Will request for fruit runs all the time and is the only one who will eat coconuts. Will accept full baskets. Sloppy furniture set. Conversations with him are normally “…” or short and blunt answers. Owns a lot of stuffed animals.
Winston: Obviously a gorilla with little square glasses. Spends a lot of time at the museum and will give you facts you didn’t know. Owns a lot of science and school themed furniture. Loves sending letters and will remind you of one’s you sent him on a regular basis. Very fond of time capsules. Will request rare bugs and fish more than anything else.
Reinhardt: Big, friendly lion neighbor. You honestly look forward to him barging into your house since he always gives genuine compliments, even if all you have is a bed and lantern. Manages to get his hands on the giant items somehow. Is always striking up conversations with the other neighbors and laughs, a lot. Anticipates you hitting him with the toy hammer.
Ana: The first one to give you medicine for your bee stings. A regular at the cafe. Sits on the local bench almost constantly with a seat saved for Pharah but welcomes your company if she doesn’t show up. An equal amount of letters and casual conversations. Practical, dark blue furniture. Her sense of humor worries you…
Symmetra: SNOOTY. She gets highly offended if you don’t give her exactly what she wanted for her birthday. Will send letters more often than actually talk to you and spends a lot of time indoors or gardening-not much in between. Will give you the cold shoulder if you give her a less than a “great!” when you visit her house. The minimalism series is her favorite. K.K. Oasis.
Mercy: A sweet normal bird type who sends you letters every week and expects a response back. Is always that one neighbor who gets her hands on a specific fruit you need. Also donates to PWP’s but normally at the last minute when you need just 60 more bells to get that new windmill. Owns a lot of medical furniture like the the IV drip and hospital bed.
Lucio: A frog, duh. Will make the most requests to drop by your place specially so he can see what your house is lacking and send it as a gift later. The turntable and speakers is a permanent part of his home. Always the one at K.K Slider concerts first. He’s one of few who actually donates to PWP’s.
Zenyatta: Your chill monkey neighbor. His catch phrase is “harmony”. Invites you to join him for meditative bench sitting. A simple room filled with bonsai plants and a lily record player set on Steep Hill. His letters are short but meaningful. The only gifts he’ll offer you are plants or cushions. Rarely ever asks for anything beyond delivering gifts to Genji.

This skin is called “Copycat” - between the hero knock-off skins, the name of Slate’s ult being Mimic, and that one section about Slate being trained in many different kinds of weapons, you might be able to see where this is going.
That said, let’s take a look at Slate’s different ults!
(Oh, and just a warning, this section is long, so keep that in mind before you open the readmore.)
Firstly, a quick note - Slate’s Ultimate charge will drop by 1% if he switches his weapon while it’s not charged, and will drop by 10% if he does so when it’s fully charged. This only counts if he drops a perfectly usable one to pick up another one, not if he’s going from bare fists to a weapon or throwing his old one with Unconventional Methods.
As you may have guessed by now, Slate’s other main gimmick is that, if he’s holding a weapon or prop associated with a hero when he uses his ult, then that ult will be a sort of “discount” version of that hero’s ultimate! He also has a base attack he’ll use if he’s not holding a weapon, or holding a prop not associated with a hero.
Here’s a complete list of all the possible forms Mimic can take, along with the quotes for each one!
no weapon/prop weapon:
stabs a single opponent within melee range with a multi-tool/Swiss Army knife
has a somewhat long wind-up but instantly kills the opponent if it hits
“I hate getting my hands dirty.”
Soldier:76 gun:
auto-aims at enemies for a short period of time
cannot switch from an enemy unless they are dead, out of range, or if Slate runs out of ammo
“Automatic aim online.”
Reaper gun:
performs a spin somewhat mimicking Death Blossom
has a shorter duration, is less accurate
“Decease and desist.”
McCree gun:
locks onto and fires high-damage shot at a single enemy
shot will target lowest-health opponent within range
“Well, I’m not whistling Dixie, so...”
Genji shuriken or sword:
Slate glows green, moves slightly faster, and does higher melee damage for the duration of the ult
“Just feeding the dragon.”
Pharah launcher:
rapid-fire burst from the rocket launcher using remaining ammunition.
knocks Slate back slightly.
“Justice rains from my current position.”
Tracer gun:
lays down medium-damage sticky bomb on opponent or surface
if stuck onto surface: “Well, that’s a thing now.”
if stuck onto person: “Tag, you’re it.”
Sombra gun:
hacks enemies in a small radius.
“Let’s even it up a little.”
Bastion gun:
fires 1 to 3 high-damage explosives
Slate whistles an imitation of the noise an ulting Bastion makes
Doomfist gauntlet, arm guns:
Slate jumps into the air, then immediately drops back down to make a small, high-damage area-of-effect attack on the area below him
this attack will always aim at the area directly below Slate, and cannot be readjusted
“Calling my attack!”
Hanzo bow:
fires a smaller version of the twin dragons that doesn’t travel as far
“...Yeah, I’m not gonna try to pronounce this. Dragons incoming!”
Junkrat launcher:
sets off remainder of ammunition from gun, creating a blast radius similar to that of the Riptire
only works within Slate’s range
“Locked, loaded, and malfunctioning perfectly.”
Mei bot or ice gun:
freezes enemies within a small radius
“Everyone here needs to chill.”
Torbjorn gun, hammer, or salvaged turret piece:
melts down current weapon to form a gauntlet
can either be used up to enhance any turret on the field or to deal higher melee damage for the duration
“I’m on fire today... and so are a few other things.”
Widowmaker gun:
allows Slate to see enemies (including invisible Sombras and enemy constructs) through walls and other obstacles
buff only applies to teammates if they’re somewhere nearby Slate
“These eyes see more than you’d think.”
D.Va gun:
gives Slate a bulkier appearance and a good amount of armor points
armor will visibly fall off once Slate loses all armor points
“Let me see what I can scavenge from all this.”
D.Va gun, if there’s armor left from the previous ult:
sheds all armor points to create a blast that harms opponents
deals damage based off of how much armor is left at the time of activation
“Initiating self-destruct sequence on armor.”
Reinhardt hammer:
same effect as Hammer Down, but very briefly stuns Slate once ult is completed
“HrrrrrrrRRAH!”
Roadhog gun:
raises rate of fire significantly, but not to the point of a constant stream
“Here goes nothing.”
Winston gun:
gains health and slight damage buff, glows red for the duration
cannot switch weapons until ult ends
“Wait, what the- rrrh!”
Zarya gun:
sucks in opponents in the same manner as Zarya’s ult
does not deal damage, lasts for a shorter amount of time
“I swear, if someone calls this a black hole...”
Orisa gun or supercharger:
deploys a small supercharger that damage-boosts the ally closest to it
the booster can utilize its effect through walls, but it has low health
“Enough fooling around.”
Ana gun:
boosts an ally with the same effects as Ana’s Nanoboost
effect does not last as long as Nanoboost, however
“Well? Go.”
Lucio gun:
gives shields/armor points to allies nearby
“Let’s - ugh - break it down.”
Mercy gun or staff:
revives a maximum of two downed allies nearby
“Just a flesh wound. Go get ‘em.”
creates a healing beam that links between teammates within line of sight of each other
lasts for 12 seconds or until Slate breaks line of sight
Slate’s attack and movement speed is boosted in proportion to the amount of teammates currently in the chain
“Watch each other’s backs, yeah?”
Moira biotic pieces:
projects a mid-range beam that heals allies and harms enemies
loses strength when passing through barriers
“Never to become human again.”
Symmetra projector:
creates single-use teleporter that buffs the next person to travel through it
“Move on through.”
Zenyatta orbs:
restores health of nearby allies and self and boosts own speed
does not give Slate invincibility
“Everyone take a deep breath.”

About The New Overwatch Uprising Arcade Game
Some things I’ve learned from playing this game over the last couple days....
If you play the All Heroes version, you will be best off if you:
1) Have Mercy as your Healer. While everyone can rez a fallen teammate in this game, Mercy can use her ult (which will charge VERY quickly in this game) to rez you from a distance, much more quickly than a fellow teammate can rez you. She can also rez multiple players at once, without having to leave the fight.
2) Have someone who can generate shields. Orisa, Reinhardt, Symmetra, someone like that. Someone who can cut back on the damage the team will take without impeding the damage you do to the enemy.
3) Your other two teammates can be anyone as long at they can do a lot of damage.
4) STAY TOGETHER. Seriously, each objective is in a limited amount of space, and the enemy WILL come to you. Don’t take off by yourself, because if you fall, it means someone else has to come and find you and revive you. And four players is about the bare minimum you can survive with in this game. I’ve seen it won with three, but only twice.
5) Watch those little two-legged Slicer bastards. They’re like coat hangers, if you ignore them they will multiply. They don’t take a lot to kill, but they come in hordes. The trailer is NOT that much of an exaggeration. And if you stand in their beam long enough, they will kill you.
6) The bi-ped bots will go down faster if you focus on their heads. If you hit them in the head it takes half the shots to down them as body hits.
7) The moment that Detonator globe thing hits the ground, start hammering it. It takes a lot of hits to blow it up, and you have no time to do it.
That’s all I can think of for now.

[The Third War]-An Overwatch Au.(Pt.1)
So, This is an entry on amino for a challenge i did in collaboration. I'm posting the story here but I don't know if I'll definitely continue it, and if i do, continue from here, or make the rest of this a flashback.
Regardless, I hope you like it, this took me about a week and a half to do
________________________
A brief hush echoed through the walkways of the damaged, and rundown city as the setting of the sun gave it's eerily dim glow. Irradiated creatures, omnics, and even people now wandered the streets, hoping to not meet their peril. At the heart of the operation to either Kill, Chase away, or save lives there were 25 people in one team. Mostly members of "Overwatch." A former member of Talon had returned to the light though. People and animal alike sent to hold back hostile forces only long enough for the civilians to evacuate the city. The members of Overwatch were caught in the next world war. This time, one that could very well end everything known, and send technologies back years. Since their collapse, The connections between countries had deteriorated terribly. Why? Because the world thought they didn't need their heroes anymore. Because they had seen them as the bad people. Though the reform was recent, it was too late to fix the relations with countries as well, and it was all Talon at fault.
No one knew where Talon originated from in full. So in an attempt to keep themselves and their countries safe, World leaders blamed each other and started the war, so screw the fact that operations were illegal. If everyone died now, then efforts to help would be in vain-
SCrEEEeeEk-
The old rusted gate opened as the man readjusted his mask and tugged his hood farther forward in hopes of hiding the mask more. Regardless of the scars, bruises, cuts, and pain, it caused him, finally admitting he was wrong to have joined the terrorists was what hurt him the most. The glances shared between him, and the angel next to him to the other 3 teams was undoubtedly anxious. They planned to gather everyone briefly in the arcade and the shrine until the forces were pushed back far enough that even if they were forced to fall back, there'd be breathing room to hold.
Tucking her bangs behind her ears, and temporarily wielding her pistol instead of the staff, the medic gave a brief glance around as people began to march forward. At the time she found out about Reyes's return, she'd not known what to believe. That he wasn't sent to kill everyone from the inside out, that he wasn't trying to make sure TALON would find yet another success in their absence. She was wingless for the first time on the battlefield. They were mangled and destroyed while still on her suit during a previous attempt to relieve hostile forces, and her armor was much lighter. Still, the same chestplate, except the skirt-like item she usually wore was now replaced by lightly armored leggings and her normal boots.
Outstretching a hand with a tight grip into his guns, Reyes gave a glance to the first set of hostiles. A whole damn street flooded by them. When the time came to engage, when a simple attack announcement was made, he only gave a simple
"Understood."
He took no hesitance with the shots while occasionally checking back to the woman who was stopping to hide and regenerate health. He gave a slight chuckle. Even though his guns tore through quite a few of them, armored ones and omnics were giving him a bit of trouble, and he quickly realized how easily he could become overwhelmed. A brief moment of hesitation, and he found himself weighed down by a creature that's much larger than humans, and looked like the crossbreed of a dog and the inside of someone's small intestine. It knocked good amounts of damage off of his health, each time he felt cuts go deeper.
"Angela- A little help please?"
"I'm already on it. It's barely half dead."
The angel gave a harshly said response as she kept landing headshots. It was as useless as if widowmaker was never charging up a scope and only landing body shots on Orisa, while she's in a state of not taking much damage. Reyes would be dead soon, and she knew he couldn't wraith. She saw he tried to earlier, but was too early on it. She landed a few more shots, which distracted it slightly, but not from its prey. Right then and there she knew from the moment the clutching of his hand which now fell limp, he was comatose, but not for long. After it knew Reyes was "dead" it lunged for her, as she ducked under just in the nick of time and healed the broken soul back to life.
"You really had to wait until I died?"
"Would you rather us both?"
They were both joking, of course. Now that Reyes was back up it was showtime. With a damage boost on him, he began to give shots that tore through even armored ones and pushed away hostiles. Occasionally Angela would stop to guide out some docile people from the fights, and directed them to either the Arcade or the shrine. Both were within practically equal distance. This song and dance happened with practically every part of the city and even outwards into a few other ones. So there were three or four groups here, In Hanamura spread across 20 or so miles of the city, each with 2 or 3 different bases set for evacuation.
Until holding would be impossible or until the evacuation was done they kept fighting. Each time, waves of malformed, irradiated, and terrifying creatures would strike up. Each with different deformities, and abilities. The day had begun to turn tonight, the sky becoming dark and stars occasionally dotted through the clouded sky. The call was sent to get people to evacuate, and floods of people had begun to run towards the fleet of dropships. Hostiles kept pushing in their heavier forces. Falling back or dying maybe. Two choices that would either cost a few lives or save many more. No, instead, they would push. The Reaper took up an ult on a herd of the heavier forces while Angela gave a damage boost. A few of them fell, but of what wasn't killed, were low hp, and knocked into critical fast. A trail of emptied guns was in the group's wake from the reaper. It seemed that it lightened up on their side, by enough that both could separately land kills on weaker, but faster targets. Angela grimaced, feeling something slice down into her shoulder and pin her to the ground. A growling noise she heard suggested that she herself might be in trouble.
"I Could use some assistance."
Gabe wraithed backward, aiming solely at the creature and landing point-blank headshots. It reared up, allowing Angela time to roll, and turned to Gabe, lashing its tail hard enough to send Angela through a window. This was a monster that would take a whole team of 6 at least a few hours to beat down. Angela sat up, being careful to not cut herself all too much on the broken glass. Gabriel growled, and slid under the creature, watching it attempt to turn fast. He shakily stood and shadowstepped on top of it, stabbing the taloned gloves into its heavily armored back harshly and hearing it screech and feeling it trying to shake him. He pressed his weapons to the various holes made and shot for the spine jumping off as its back legs fell limp. Angela rejoined as soon as she regained her balance it wouldn't be much of a nuisance anymore. At least to the fight anyway.
Another figure brought the clashing of metal with him as he approached to say it was time to head out. Reinhardt Wilhelm. The man who had just come had seen the beast that was left semi-paralyzed. He was almost impressed. Still, carrying his hammer, and glancing in the direction of the bases, they followed. Enemy forces would definitely be moving in now but that was another story. Now? It was getting back to the bases to wait it out for another set of dropships to arrive. Japan had a small wait out bases now all over.
A while later the three had gotten back to the shrine. Reinhardt was the first to pipe up in congratulations as usual on how everyone did amazing. Angela was resting on a set of stairs while everyone else was talking. A smile came to her face as the atmosphere was definitely more welcoming than the previous tension in the air from the mission. There were 6 others with them, as Hanamura was currently the most heavily populated area by these creatures. Gabriel was talking with the others, trying to learn a bit more about what he had missed. Hana turned off from the group and stepped towards Angela.
"Annyeong, Angela!"
"Ah, Hello Hana."
Angela spoke to the other female with a soft grin.
"Is everything okay Over here?"
[CI]Hana asked casually, as she took a seat about a step lower than Angela. The medic spoke with almost an apprehensive tone
"Well.."
Meanwhile, Gabriel was still listening to the conversations of others and piping in when needed. He had been hearing things like "You Should've seen..." or "I'll never forget." As if they didn't die once to this, which in fairness seemed true.
"Hey, Rea-Gabriel. What about you?"
"What's there to know? We just killed things and moved on. Same as always."
He'd respond to a voice that held an air of insanity. One that gave a slight laugh as it talked. To none other than the junker himself.
"Oh really? I heard you died out there. Eh, Copper?"
"Sure. What's it mean to you? Haven't you fallen in battle before?"
The room seemed silent around their conversation. Whether looking from a corner or chatting, the tension seemed to return. Whether or not for better or worse, That's all in time's hands. It was never like this before the war though.

Nekimo’s Story - Chapter 1 part 3 - Uncomfortable Reunion
As Nekimo wakes up the next day and opens the royal house doors, she looks on at hundreds of Adaego soldiers surrounding a group of people from her kingdom.
A messenger Addresses Nekimo directly;
“You, and your people are under arrest for attempting a coup. Military forces have been sent to restore order in this kingdom and punish those involved."
More soldiers flow in from the open gates, slowly surrounding Nekimo and the small crowd that has gathered to follow her. A few attempt to flee but are drawn in, rounded up, and sent back to surround her.
Nekimo walks toward the messenger, a comparatively small woman who backs off initially.
"What's the punishment?" Nekimo asks with a strange calmness about her.
"Conspiring against the Adaego kingdom is punishable by death." The woman says
"What of my sister?" Nekimo replies
"That has not yet been decided. Are you coming peacefully?"
Nekimo thinks for a moment “Not really, no. But I will walk with you so long as I see Dalia herself.”
“She will be at the trial.”
At the gates, camels pull large carriages with soldiers in the back and riders up front. As they leave, Nekimo and her group walk while surrounded by these carriages with archers and snipers looking on.
Happiness comes over her as she sees a familiar face, her long-time friend in the guard. A tall and stout woman with medium length black hair and bubbly cheeks which typically makes her smile infectious though she isn’t smiling now.
“Ginika, I thought you figured this was a stupid idea, I didn’t expect to see you here!”
“It is, as you can now see. But if you remember, I swore my life to your protection, and I’m sure my debt will be spent and wasted now. Nonetheless, I will follow you whether or not I agree with your path. even in death.”
Nekimo looked over to see another familiar face. “And Aretta? I’m honestly surprised…”
"You’re wrong about me as always. I’ve never been disloyal to the kingdom. It seems you have never heard of spying. Last night we talked among ourselves. If we are to die, we will do so fighting. We are by your side even in execution. We cannot watch our lives become complicated and fall apart beneath our feet any longer."
Nekimo replies "You were probably foolish, but I appreciate that."
“Nice to see you, Iyawa.” She says to a sturdy looking woman with long dreads, a commander of their small forces.
The most surprising face, however, Nekimo sees looking down at the ground as she walks in her white coat with a stethoscope hanging across her neck.
Nekimo speaks up. “Guards, she can’t be part of my group, please, send her back. She was probably too meek to argue.”
A sniper responds. “No, we were all surprised, ask her yourself.”
Nekimo looks back at her, but before she has a chance to speak, the woman speaks sharply.
“Yes, I chose to come along, that’s it.”
Nekimo can only smile “You’re a strange one, Orisa.”
After the third mile Nekimo’s smooth skin becomes covered in beads of sweat, her royal purple and white dress drenched and sticking to her body before she gets to the capitol building to face her punishment.
They get to the courtyard and the gates are locked behind them. Nekimo looks on at two large groups of the tribe’s people in front of her, split by what appears to be a judge standing next to Dalia.
Dalia smiles. “You can’t believe how long I’ve waited to see you here. A terrible princess who likes to stir tensions between kingdoms. You know, Up until this point the only thing stopping me was the mess it might start, as Princess Nekimo is loved dearly by her people.”
Dalia stops a moment to look at Orisa. “Even among my own people, you are the last I would expect to see here, Doctor. You can’t imagine the shock and pain this brings me. You’re always welcome to come into our kingdom. We will forgive you.”
Orisa looks up at Dalia, then to the rather shocked tribe standing behind her. As they look at her their rage turns to sadness.
“I’m sorry, Dalia. There is nothing more to say.” Looking as though she is about to cry.
The queen lets out a sigh, then walks toward Nekimo with a delighted smile, her body bare save for what amounts to a skirt of hide around her hips, her stance is strong with her chest out, appearing taller than the princess who can barely stand on her aching legs. She gently runs a finger underneath Nekimo's chin and lifts her head to see her eyes. Nekimo hasn't the energy to look away as the power-hungry woman derived deep satisfaction out of peering down at her worn-down body and into her hazy eyes.
"Our pretty little princess has a mouth on her, doesn’t she?" Dalia's finger ran down Nekimo's neck, tilting the princess's head to the side with a thumb against her jaw.
"As a merciful leader, I'll allow you to regain my trust, young girl. Kill one of your little followers in a display of loyalty and I might reconsider your sentence."
"That's not how you talk to your new queen" Nekimo said with a half-smile.
Dalia just grinned "Do you know nothing but disrespect? Maybe it’d be worth giving you a lesson in that before handing down your sentence." she lets out before she wraps her hand around Nekimo's neck and squeezes tightly.
"Has anyone told you that your face looks adorable? You have cute chubby little cheeks, they’re so soft.” Dalia says as she mashes her cheeks together.
“It must be humiliating to rally such a cause, to split your tribe apart only to plead with those pouty little eyes for me to let you breathe in front of your whole gang of traitors. It’ll be fun breaking you, princess." Dalia shook her body roughly as she spoke, continuing to gaze into her eyes as they seemed to bulge and drain of focus before letting go.
Nekimo gasps and wheezes as she falls to the ground, desperate to catch her breath. Still, she’s unable to bring herself to apology.
"When you kill us, your tribe will have to clean our bodies up. We'll be of no use to you, and your kingdom will disbenefit from our presence ... That's my favorite part of this, I thought you should know."
Dalia ignored her "...It’s too bad you never learned what it was like to be a leader. Part of me enjoyed the challenge you gave before you went too far. Fortunately, you'll be serving me until you die."
"Not interested"
Dalia kicks Nekimo over and steps on her chest, the delight in her eyes somehow even more prominent than before as her bare foot sinks into Nekimo’s ribcage, the princess’ heart hammering against it in protest.
"That's unfortunate for your sister."
Nekimo closes her eyes and opens them again, wishing she could take a deep breath without a foot weighing down on her chest "What do you want me to do?"
"Good girl." Dalia says as she yanks the princess up to her feet.
"The guards will give you the details" the queen says as she drops Nekimo and walks away.
