They were laid up in bed, assortments of fancy decorative pillows framing their heads and a mess of hair between the both of them. Visus has been up for some time, watching Kaeri sleep. Slowly, Visus reached up, pointer finger pushing hair away from her face and tucking it behind her ear.

He cupped her face gently for a moment as she stirred, watching her face scrunch up briefly before realizing it had been him instead of a curious moth. “Good morning, vhenan.” he greeted her, smile widening as she curled up to hide against his chest to hide from the morning. It was more than enough to convince Visus to lightly doze until he was startled awake by their breakfast being delivered to their room.

The smell of coffee tempted him enough for him to rise. He pulled his pants on before wandering over to fix two mugs and return to Kaeri, but not before he was being tugged back towards the bed until his legs hit the edge and he sat back, humming as Kaeri’s arms wound around his chest. He brought one of her hands up to his lips, kissing her knuckles a few times before her request met his ears. “I plan to do nothing else for the rest of the day, Creators willing--” he admitted, dragging her closer now to press a plethora of kisses to her cheek, brows, lips, jaw, and neck.

Kaeri’s laughs at his antics swelled like a song in his chest before he settled her back into bed.

          One of the Five Chainbreakers, the group of heroes that ended the Planemeld and confronted Molag Bal. [ In terms of my ESO protagonists, Kaeri is the protagonist of the Thieves Guild, Aldmeri Dominion, and Elsweyr questlines. ]

          Kaeri Nightshade is an agent of Queen Ayrenn and a devotee of Akatosh. She is a famed hero in the Aldmeri Dominion, but she has gained wider recognition across the rest of Tamriel through her work as a coveted tailor. She was born from an affair between an Altmer noblewoman and a Bosmer criminal from the infamous Nightshade family. While initially raised by her cruel stepfather, her mother was able to arrange for Kaeri to be sent to the Nightshade family. Though Kaeri’s father had been long dead, she was taken in by her uncle, Hednor, who was unaffiliated with the criminal aspects of the family, and he raised her as a Brackenleaf Briar. 

          Life among the Briars suited Kaeri for a time, but just as in Auridon, she never felt like she could truly belong. The Bosmer saw her as too much of an Altmer; the Altmer saw her as too much of a Bosmer. Though she was beloved by her uncle and surrounding family, eventually the feeling of being an outcast caught up with her, and when the Planemeld began, she ran away from the village to seek adventure elsewhere, away from both Molag Bal’s dark anchors and the judgmental eyes of her neighbors.

          Kaeri found herself in Abah’s Landing, a haven for all kinds of scoundrels. She joined the Thieves Guild and quickly rose through the ranks. It wasn’t long before she was considered a master in the delicate art of theft, and the steady flow of gold and thrills alike had her keen to push her skills. She became a legend among thieves, the “Black Snake” that slithers through the pockets of the rich, but no amount of success could cover the rampant storm of questions and unpleasant emotions that were rooted within. She missed her family and wanted to make amends, and she wanted to prove her worth to those who had looked down on her. Kaeri couldn’t do that as a thief. She couldn’t do it at all. Her life of infamy turned hollow before her eyes. She boarded a boat to an unknown destination in search of a new adventure, but she was not prepared for what she found. 

          A fateful hurricane destroyed the ship and landed Kaeri on Khenarthi’s Roost where she encountered Razum Dar, one of the Eyes of the Queen. Helping Raz led to an introduction to Queen Ayrenn herself and a new job as one of her Eyes. Working under the queen for the direct benefit of the Dominion gave Kaeri the turnabout she had so desperately wished for. Eyes that would have once looked down on her for the circumstances of her birth now only looked up in admiration of their new hero. But serving Queen Ayrenn would not be the greatest honor Kaeri would find, as she was favored in the eyes of Akatosh. It was he who guided her to Khenarthi’s Roost, and it was he who restored her family and led her down a hero’s path. Akatosh had a higher calling for Kaeri: to serve him for the benefit of all of Tamriel, without regard to national divisions. To combat the threat of Molag Bal and his Planemeld, which endangered all people regardless of who they were or where they were from. She happily accepted and pledged herself to the dragon god, whom she serves to this day. A god of a foreign name and culture, but a god who cared.

OK so I finally decided who’s going on the Elder Scrolls multi and who isn’t after going back and forth for hours over this. Here’s the official list and a brief description:

Daeris Urzara - Imperial assassin and Daedric spawn who sometimes does heroic things; my og elder scrolls bab that I’m bringing back

Kaeri Nightshade - she already has a blog but I’m moving her to the multi

B’Dorah - redguard Ash’abah warrioress and Vestige in ESO verses; honorable bab who puts up a tough front but is really soft and shy and has no idea how to behave in other parts of Tamriel bc being part of an isolated nomadic tribe doesn’t give you much experience elsewhere

Eofstre Reachbood - nordic battlemage that looks like fire and acts like ice; just wants to go home to her daughter but wants to make the world safer for her first and also live up to her family legacy as warriors and investigate her father’s exile

Honora Bloodthorn - Reachwoman mage that was recently betrothed to the leader of a different clan and is not really that upset that her husband was killed like a month after their wedding so while she’s like “wow I should get revenge” she’s also of the mind “eh do I really feel like it?”; really doesn’t care much about anything, she just wants to live her life without being bossed around by her great-great-great grandmother who is a literal hag

Cathanwe Thromorin - high elf Welkynar Gryphon Knight in training; friendly and somewhat air-headed and just wants to help everyone and succeed in her training and dreams of becoming a hero, though she’s a but clumsy and makes a mess of things she’s just trying her best okay

Syvenia - a sea elf and former pirate that defected from her father’s crew when she was a teenager after he killed her brother to keep him from exposing her father’s war crimes; she took the documents herself and went to Summerset to expose her father to King Hidellith in fear the Maormer king would turn a blind eye and was granted asylum in return; now she is a fisherwoman and supplies the Gryphons of Cloudrest with food in return for protection and lodging

A low sigh leaves him even as he settles to partially sit on the half wall with her settled between his legs. Like this, she is taller than him, and he has to look up at her, eyes fighting the sunlight to look upon her.

(here, he is simply a man with no worries.)

“I feel exhausted though” he admits, fanning their fingers out together, palm to palm before twining them loosely together with a content look. “I feel weak with it all” he admits, gaze falling back to his lap until her fingers find his chin and raise his gaze again.

Visus expects her to say something, or scold him, but instead, he is met with the tender touch of her fingers brushing into his scalp at his temples instead. It is a moment to rest that he takes full advantage of, eyes closing and he ducks his head after a moment of quiet peace to tuck against her side. Eventually, the archer pulls from her again, gripping her hands between both of his own to press firm kisses to her knuckles.

“I want to run,” he admits in a raspy voice to her, kept low so no others who may be passing by can hear him speak of it. “I am a coward, but if I cannot even keep my own Clan safe, how should I be expected to--” he stops, swallowing thick and he steels himself before he can spiral much further, leaning into the hand Kaeri raises to his cheek with tightly shut eyes.

He’s angry already, it’s been steadily building for hours now and he can barely breathe around it. The names won’t hurt him, this he knows, he’s too old for that sort of thing to dig into him anymore except in the rare mood.

He sighs at his words, gripping his own knee to slow and steady the nervous bounce to it. He takes a small inhale, holding his breath a moment and narrowing his eyes to the gates of Halamshiral outside the carriage. “I can multitask--” he decides quickly, and before the other can admonish, he opens the door to finally step outside, extending a hand back towards Kaeri to help her out.

It’s a rare day that Visus has allowed himself to sleep in, though those are more often than ever. Back in Wycome, he woke with the sun every morning, and even in Haven he’d kept the habit. It was only now in Skyhold that he’d found himself having a harder time waking promptly. The walls lent themselves to a place of rest, and to feel safe, perhaps it was the old magic or the fact that he knew how much time was invested in reinforcing the walls that helped him rest easier.

(it was noon now. far past when he should’ve been up, but no one has bothered them yet so that meant the world wasn’t ending.)

He played with her hair idly, admiring how the mess of it framed her face against his pillows with a tenderness he never thought his heart would have again. “Let me get the letters I didn’t finish last night and I’ll come right back, vhenan.” he promised her, pressing a kiss to her cheek, followed by her jaw, and exposed collar bone.

Visus stretched briefly before wrapping the blanket from the end of his bed around himself to make way for his desk, closing the balcony door as he did with a small shiver. He needed to make a note to do that lest his guest catches her death under his watch. The rogue returned, lap desk and letters all in hand as he wound his way back beside Kaeri, tucking her warmth against his side as he shivered slightly. His arm wound around her shoulders, holding her close as he read the missive, thumb content to draw idle circles against her skin.

Muse TBA List (Updated 4/20/18)

OKAY so I’ve finished the basic coding for my sideblogs, and I have a rough idea of who I’m going to add and who I’m dropping for now. I’ll update this list whenever something changes. I’m going to try and list them in priority order, but understand that the order in which they get done is extremely flexible. Also, since I’m coding these from scratch myself, expect the completion time-frame to be wonky, and I’m only coding the most needed pages(about,rules,and tags) at first until I get ALL of them done.

UPDATE 4/20/18: I’m just going to put four of my Elder Scrolls ocs on the same sideblog to ease up on the effort. Their stories are all connected anyhow, so it does make sense thematically. They’re connected to Kaeri and Daeris too, but I’ve had Kaeri and Daeris for much longer, so those two are far more fleshed out and can stand on their own. For now, at least. I might change my mind later lmao
