Fiske smiled amusingly at Austri, he was a dear friend of hers and she enjoyed surprising him in Askr. "Unfortunately for you, you were drooling a looot in your sleep, but that's okay, nothing could be as embarrassing as your banter about Silas in your sleep."
The summoner mused as she made dramatic flailing of her arms, giving her best impression of her best friend, "O' Silas, my knightly heaven! Kiss me with those lips of flower petals and scent of lavender-" She could not continue more as she laughed a little, giving Austri a cheeky smile. She didn't want to acknowledge what he said about Lon'qu, but it was no surprise that man had caught her attention. So dark and brooding, a skilled swordsman... she had a sword of her own that she'd honed for as long as she'd been there.
"Sorry to ruin your nap, Austri, but I decided a little visit might be nice. I... haven't gotten to do that in awhile, y'know." Remembering everything that had happened recently... there was a lot to get through. She just hoped they were still going to be close as ever.

"I'M GOING TO SAVE YOUR LIFE" PROMPTS ( @voraxiia asked: just stay with me, hold on! // fuyumi & fiske 👀 )
Tumblr media
It's so hard to keep amber eyes open in the moment, everything wants him to just let them flutter shut but something in the back of his mind that sounds so familiar and almost like Fuyumi's voice is telling him that's a bad idea ( plus there is also Fuyumi's actual voice that rings in his ears a moment later and has his amber gaze sliding to meet others ). His eyes seem a lot duller than how bright and full of life they usually are. Is he bleeding out ? Is that what's happening ? He feels bad for causing Fuyumi more trouble than he does about the fact that he could die right now. All he ever did was cause Fuyumi trouble but in the moment, he wonders if that is worry in that voice. Tears well up in eyes and somehow he wills himself to lift shaky hand as if he's going to touch others face ( it takes so much strength to do it too ).
Tumblr media
❛  Is Fuyumi worried about Fiske ? ❜ The merprince murmurs so softly, voice easily coming off as so tired and drained. ❛ If Fuyumi is worried then Fiske will try his best to stay with Fuyumi but Fiske is so tired and in pain . . . ❜

❰❰ SAVE ❱❱ sender saves receiver’s life
Combined with
❰❰ HURT ❱❱ sender is hurt protecting the receiver's life
Bryn is taking this one!
((Why do you hurt me like this, wolf))
It was cold...
Why was it so cold?
What happened?
Cyra felt the burn of the chill air in her lungs as suddenly as the ache that throbbed in her shoulder and her head. The frozen trail of blood that drew paths across her face had sent shivers down her spine. She shifted, wincing as the world seemed to spin and sting with the movement.
"Get on your feet!"
She knew that voice.
Whatever had caused the sting to her skull had been a dazing blow. For a few short minutes, she could not recall a single thing that happened before she found herself lying in the snow. It wasn't until that voice called out to her again, grabbing her by the arm and pulling her quickly to her feet that the pieces began to fall back into place.
"I said on your feet, Cyra!" His piercing silver had cut through the haze.
She remembered now.
Still unable to control the building rage that constantly boiled under the surface, she had let loose the chemical creature the Garleans had made her to be again. Something in the middle of the scuffle had managed to graze her skull. The force of the hit had stunned her, sending her into a brief lapse of consciousness as she came down from being a bloodthirsty beast. From what she understood, the fight had been far from over.
With a groan, she moved her hand to the pommel of the blade at her hip. Her vision took its time to bring the world into a sharper view, and so she pressed her back into Bryn's. Until she was stable enough to move on her own, she had prepared herself to defend him as he did for her. She could hear the click of his rifle as he prepared another shot, waiting for the enemy to risk this sharp eyes in favor of reclaiming their prized possession.
"I'm good." She whispered.
He had given her a light grunt in response as she shifted away from him.
Within seconds, the discordant chorus of battle resumed when the next wave of Garlean soldiers pressed forth from behind their cover. Even after coming out of that unnatural rage, Cyra still had more speed than the very soldiers that fought to retrieve her. She was lucky the first one had been a terrible shot. As she approached, her blade caught the man's wrist as it arced from its sheath. His cry of pain was quickly silenced with a quick flash as she tossed the dagger into her opposite hand to draw the edge along his exposed neck. The clever Miqo'te had used her momentum to use the man's weight to her favor. As the blade split the skin, leaving fountains of red pulsing out into the snow, her small form swung wide around him to position herself for the next strike.
She recognized the sound of Bryn's rifle cutting through the air. It was far louder than the ceruleum powered weaponry of their aetherically deficient enemy, forcing her to take a moment to cover her ears with her hands.
The risk had been taken.
And it was a mistake she would remember.
Another man had charged forth, short sword held low at his hip and his magitek shield angled back in a form she couldn't recognize. Her reaction was too late. By the time she had shifted her stance, and brought her blade up to defend the strike, it had already glanced off her dagger. At the least, she redirected the blow from his sword, feeling it punch through the reinforced leather at her side.
Adrenaline flooded her system, blocking the pain from her senses as she dropped her arm to loop around the man's sword arm. His momentum forced her back a few paces as he began to swing his shield arm around to strike her with. Cyra gritted her teeth, turning toward the captured limb and dipping her shoulder to avoid the brunt of the blow. The edge of his shield struck her square in the back as he struggled for her to release his arm.
But he was already dead.
As he had swung his shield around to connect with her body, Cyra had flipped her dagger into a reverse grip to jab upwards into his chest through his flimsy uniform. They truly had not come prepared for this at all. He coughed, spitting up blood onto the Miqo'te as she bared her teeth in reply to his death rattle. She tugged her blade free from his chest, releasing his arm as he slumped into the red snow at her feet.
She hissed, feeling the warm sting on her side. The Keeper pressed a hand into the pain, feeling the alarm creep through her at the familiar sensation of blood seeped through her fingers. She turned to look towards her mentor, wondering if he had managed to handle his own combat better than she had fared.
"Bryn?" The lilt of her voice pitched upward with worry as she spoke his name.
She watched as he turned, the color draining from his face as he dropped the dying man speared by the bayonet on his weapon. His pause made her look down at the soaking wound under her palm. She didn't see the severity of it. She could barely feel it. Cyra took the moment to sheathe her dagger, knowing it would be a pain to remove from its scabbard later. She hadn't cleaned it yet.
That should not be your concern, she thought.
She took a step forward, thinking that if she just returned to the safety of his reach then maybe things could be managed a bit better once he saw she was fine. She felt fine, so it should be fine...right?
Relief had mixed into her bloodied features as she took another labored step towards him.
"Cyra! Get down!" She heard him shout only once like that before.
He had already been running towards her, his silvered gaze looking directly behind her. As she turned to look at what he had his attention focused on, she heard that familiar whistle of something cutting through the air. Quickly, she tugged the sticking blade free from her hip, ready to defend-
Something hard struck her shoulder. She felt it knock the wind out of her as she staggered backward a few steps before losing her footing. The stricken arm had gone limp, unable to bear the heated lash of electricity that shot through her fingertips at every attempt to hold the blade firm in her hand. Cyra winced, hearing a sound tear through the air that she failed to recognize as her own.
She heard her name screamed through the chilling air. Sounds of a fight happened above her head, somewhere far behind her that she couldn't see. As she laid in the snow, feeling pain creep over her as the adrenaline wore off, she caught the glimpse of a figure garbed in that accursed black and red standard as the soldier stepped into view.
His eyes were cold, uncaring. He looked at her like she was more trouble than she was worth. Not even the prize she would have brought him upon his return with her living body would have granted him the appropriate compensation for his effort. It was disgust that she saw in his eyes. The view of his face had been partially obscured by the raised handgun that pointed at her face. She watched as he pulled back on the hammer, listening as it settled into that deadly click.
He sniffed, and she closed her eyes. She had no energy to fight her fate.
"Cyra!" Bryn had screamed.
Her starlit blues snapped open, watching as her warden had charged forward and struck the man with the butt of his rifle. The end of the man's fate had been out of her view, but she heard his pathetic life sputter out into the snow.
Gloved hands delicately held her cheeks. She could see the panic in his eyes as he quickly moved to assess the damage, as any good soldier would. His heaving breath was the only thing she could really hear through the quieting chaos of her fading consciousness. It was slow, and she felt herself shivering far more violently than she ever had before.
She was a fool to think she had ever known the bite of the cold before.
Her teeth chattered together as she watched him search through his pockets or bags for something. A bandage perhaps? Her mind was spinning, and logic wasn't winning out over the desperate aches and stinging cold that had taken over. She felt her breath catching in her chest as she tried to shift, only to feel his hand press into the center of her chest to keep her still. She knew that look. Cyra had seen it the last time he had seen her injured like this. It was a fear she didn't quite understand.
"Br-yn..." She winced.
His name on her lips had been hushed with a gentle command for her to save her breath; to save her energy until he had been able to staunch the bleeding.
As she laid there in the snow, feeling the rise of that chilling sting in her side and shoulder, she heard the shuddered cry of pain that dragged from her throat. Every tremble of her freezing body had sent renewed pangs of lashed nerves from both injuries. Even through that blinding pain, she saw movement in the storm behind him.
Using what strength she could, the Keeper tried to point at the shadow that crept up. Only for the man to grasp her quivering fingers in his to place back on the wound at her side. Another instruction to apply pressure until he could take over. Tears welled up in her eyes at the danger that loomed just a few paces behind him. She could see the uniform that had crept up with an unmistakable terror in her expression.
"Behind-"
Her warning came too late.
The long blade had been shoved clean through the silver wolf, sinking into the blooming snow beside her. The sword had nicked the outside of her arm, barely worth the wince she had given it. The groan that had come from Bryn had terrified her. She could do nothing to help him.
What exactly did she think she was capable of doing in her current state?
Cyra whimpered, the shooting pain of her shoulder had been fought as she bent her arm at the elbow to grasp at the sleeve of his coat. Tears streamed down her face as she growled at the villain that pulled the blade free from his prey.
That was his only mistake.
The searing burn of the hole in her shoulder made her drop her head back into the snow, closing her eyes as she tried to breath through it. She heard Bryn growl out a string of curses, the sound of cloth tearing, and frantic feet shifting urgently in the snow.
"Don't you dare die on me, girl." She heard that graveled command through the pulsing beat of her heart in her ears.
She could hear the pain in his voice, but she hadn't the energy to do more than just breathe. It wasn't until he had moved her hand to the side and pressed a padded bandage onto the gash on her side that she opened her eyes. The electric shock of the exposed nerves had set her whole body to wince at the sensation. He took her hand in his, pressing it back onto the cloth and instructing her to do it herself. She felt the way he gripped the front of her jacket, pulling her fatigued body up from the snow to lean her against his knee.
Bryn worked quickly to pull the wrapping bandage tight. He wouldn't dare move her from the snow until at least the worst injury had been dealt with. The gash throbbed and stung at her side, sending gasping yelps out into the air. He tied the wrapping tight, then moved to dress the hole in her shoulder for the time being. She considered herself lucky that he kept himself prepared for nearly everything. Had it been anyone else that took the risk to help her escape the castrum, then her fate might have been quite different.
She cried out as he began wrapping her shoulder with the same pressure as he did her side. She heard the gentle shush as she squirmed under his touch. Soft assurances that everything would be okay in response to her wordless whimpers of exhausted pain. Once the worst was over, she felt the chill of the snow vanish from her back.
"I'm...sorry..." She breathed.
He hushed her again as he held her delicately in his arms. It took a lot more than a sword to injure him, but she could feel the hitch in his breath from the pain of his wound. Even if it was far more temporary than her own hurts, she still worried for his own safety.
I'll be better...next time...
It was the last thought she had before consciousness slipped away from her.

Absolutely the local vigilante, then. Seemed Remy had some intel he'd failed to gather when he'd been researching this particular job. Not necessarily a problem, but definitely a wrinkle that would have to be worked out, considering he sincerely doubted this guy had any intention of actually moving.
Glancing down at the files in his hand Remy debated for a few seconds. Sure, he could try and fight his way out, but the fact that this particular vigilante hadn't jumped immediately to violence had almost endeared him to the Cajun. Remy had never been one to shy away from a fight, but he wasn't going to pick one where it might not be needed.
"From where I'm standin', you drawin' a lotta conclusions based on only a couple pieces'f circumstantial evidence," he said easily. A couple rather damning pieces of circumstantial evidence, sure, but circumstantial nonetheless. "But den again, I'm assumin' you know who own dat buildin' in de first place, you bein' de guard on duty t'night, hein? An' since you so keen on y'duty," There was no trace of mockery in his words as he spoke, "I'm sure you know de kinda things he do. So…maybe dere's a way we make a deal t'night, non?" Remy grinned. "One devil to another?"

Matt could feel the thief's eyes rake over him, paying no mind to the act. His senses were doing the exact same thing. A part of him had to admit he like the man's charming accent. "Something like that." Neighborhood watch was one way of putting it. He diligently watched over Hell's Kitchen and only Hell's Kitchen. The rest of the city was the Avenger's problem. This was his corner and he would protect the people in it with everything he had. Even from simple thieves.
"Well, you're right. That isn't my fire escape. But this is my city. I don't particularly like thieves going into places they don't belong and taking things that aren't theirs." He smirked playfully with a small nod to whatever the man had taken, not bothering to uncross his arms. "You just so happened to make it easy for me. I do appreciate that, thank you. No one parks in the middle of the street like this, except when they need a getaway car."

From this request from an anon named melted butter!
I hope you like it, anon friend!
Warnings: brief mentions of violence, hostage situation, PTSD symptoms, heavy angst in the beginning
Words: 2.7k
Suite No. 1 in G Major, BWV 1007: 1. Prelude
There would never come a day when she wouldn’t associate that song with blood, torture, and darkness.
There would never come a day when she wouldn’t remember the cloth wrapped around her eyes that felt like sandpaper on her skin and the way her head pounded from the tightness of the blindfold. She could still feel it sometimes—unprompted moments of weakness when she would put on a hat or earmuffs in the winter and the feeling of something being wrapped around her head transported her to that awful night. She’d rather leave the beanie and earmuffs at home and risk her head getting cold than be reminded of that torture.
It was the way she hesitated to put on gloves because if her wrists felt too constricted she would be reminded of the way the rope burned her skin so badly it left scars. She’d leave those at home too, and risk dry and cold hands.
“Sweetheart,” Matt said earnestly, wrapping his hands around her cold ones. “Your hands are so cold. Why didn’t you put on gloves?”
She didn’t reply—she just let Matt continue to warm her hands with his. She preferred it that way. She preferred him to feel the scars around her wrists than her to look at them.
Ever since that night, she took the coldest showers. Every shower was an ice-cold one. The place they had her held hostage in was stuffy—hot. She remembers her own sweat dripping down her face and the salt burning her eyes even under the blindfold. She can’t feel too hot anymore or else she will again be transported back to that traumatizing night.
And the song—that fucking song.
She wasn’t sure if it was a torture tactic or if the Kingpin had requested it be played. The only thing that mattered was that they kept it on repeat, at a loud volume—so loud she could hardly hear her voice when they would ask her a question about Daredevil.
“I don’t know,” she cried behind her blindfold. “I don’t know, I don’t know, I—“
SLAP!
The violins started to feel like her head was being woven in torturous ways. The sound filled her senses similarly to how cough syrup fills one's senses—bitterness from the smell to the taste on the tip of her tongue. It was nauseating to listen to the song over, and over, and over, and over again. Nauseating to be in a situation like she had just two months ago: alone, in pain, and scared. So very scared that she may not make it.
Until he found her. He told her he would always find her.
She didn’t know he was there until the music finally stopped playing, and the lights in the warehouse went out. She was blindfolded but the way the men started yelling about the lights told her everything she needed to know. She was shaking against the wall, sweating, trying to find that relief she should feel that Daredevil had come to her rescue—but even that couldn’t shake off her fear.
“If you ever get taken from me,” Matt had whispered to her one night in bed as he fiddled with the diamond ring on her finger, “know I will find you. And when you know I’m there, I want you to whisper to me like I am now. Because I’ll hear you and I’ll come to you.”
She whispered to him as soon as she heard the music stop and Fisk’s men were shouting at each other.
“Matthew,” she hushed even lower than a whisper, “Matthew. Matt…”
Matt has dealt with a lot of dark situations as Daredevil, even before he donned the name and had a red suit. Years ago, he saved a little boy from a Russian gang. He saved a group of young girls from trafficking. He has dealt with the worst criminals in this city and it never got easier. All he could do was save people. He just never bet on the fact that one day he would have to save her.
It was something they talked about before deciding to get married. After months of convincing himself he could never have a life like that, she told him that God didn’t put him on this earth to only bear other people’s burdens. God meant for him to have a life like everyone else—a life that included love and marriage. He agreed on one condition: that it be an intimate small wedding at Clinton Church. And by intimate, only Foggy, Karen, and Marci were invited.
He never wanted to prepare for a situation like this. He never wanted this day to come. He never pondered on what protocols to teach her if someone were to take her—but after months of avoiding the subject, he thought that was still important in case the situation ever did come. And unfortunately, it finally did come.
He remembers how still the apartment was when he came home—how silent and cold it was. She hadn’t been home since the morning, he could tell. Icicles started to form on the back of his neck when he realized he hadn’t received a call from her since she left work—which was over an hour ago. Matt felt weak in the knees suddenly. He had to support himself on the kitchen counter as he focused his senses on noises outside of the apartment.
“Dear God,” Matt whispered, “please keep her safe until I find her. Please help me find her.”
The whispers didn’t last long, nor the prayers—soon, Matt was throwing a rage in the apartment. Shattered glass was on the floor. Broken plates. Matt’s agonizing scream when reality finally settled in him that she was taken from him—by who? There was only one possibility.
In no time he changed into his Daredevil gear and was prowling the streets, rooftop to rooftop, to find where they had been keeping her hostage.
A warehouse by the pier. He could hear the classical music playing at an incredible volume, enough to hurt her ears and get in her head. As soon as Matt found the source of the music, he shut it off, along with the power.
And then he let the devil out.
He thought with his fists before using logic to fight these cronies—throwing punches and brutally throwing men over his shoulders, hitting them relentlessly with whatever weapon he found near him. His billy club wires wrapped around someone's neck so tight it made them pass out, using the metal billy club to throw right in another man’s face. Matt moved recklessly in the dark. He wanted to yell at the top of his lungs so loudly it would feel like his chest was ripping apart but he didn’t because he knew she had experienced enough yelling on this night.
And then, he heard her.
“Matthew,” she whispered so quietly, it almost missed Matt’s senses. “Matthew… Matt…”
As soon as he made sure all of the men were out, he rushed to her side. Adrenaline pumped in his veins, he was shaking from it. He knelt before her and took off his gloves.
“Hey,” he cooed, “it’s okay. I’m here. I found you,” and Matt’s voice was wobbly in his throat, tears threatening his eyes but no—he needed to be strong for her. He didn’t know what she endured—quite frankly, didn’t want to know—but he knew it had been a lot on her mentally. She was sobbing. He’d never heard her like this. The blindfold was wrapped so tightly around her eyes. Matt gently untied it and slid it off. He then smelt something metallic in the air—salty. It was blood. Her blood was around her wrists. Matt choked a sob in his chest as he untied her wrists. He could sense the tight friction of a bruise forming on her cheek.
“I found you,” Matt’s voice cracked—he couldn’t help it. He was a wreck inside to find her like this. In pain, scared, alone. No—not alone anymore, he was here. “It’s okay now.” He gathered her delicate frame in his arms, holding her against his body tightly but not crushing her, and ran his hands through her hair, hushing her cries. “It’s okay. You’re safe. I have you now. They can’t hurt you anymore. I’m here.”
Matt wasn’t sure what was more traumatizing for him—finding her in that situation or hearing her cries after, and the months that would follow.
It made him question if marrying her was the right decision.
Despite these small things bringing her back to that dreadful night, there was one positive thing that she would never forget either: the feeling when she saw Daredevil—Matt—kneeling before her and gently pulling her blindfold off. The warm wash of relief that spread in her chest was so unexplainable, she could only feel it again if she really put her mind to it. It was like a warm, safe embrace when she knew Matt had found her like he said he would. She could describe the sensation as putting on a weighted blanket.
The image of his red Daredevil helmet is ingrained in her mind: it was him against that dark warehouse. It was the glow of the red mask that brought so much comfort to her. She was safe. He had finally come—finally found her. God knows how hard it was to locate her. She was so relieved, that all she could do was sob into his embrace.
It didn’t get easier when they finally made it home, it only got harder.
She lay in his bed with tear-stained cheeks. It hurt to move. It hurt to speak. She could only whisper. Matt was still in his Daredevil suit, helmet off. He paced the room anxiously, wondering how this could’ve happened, how he could have let this happen. He was thinking of every possibility and what he was going to do next—
“Matthew,” she wheezed as she watched him pace the room. “Matthew.”
He stopped instantly, bringing his attention to her. She was in so much pain, he could sense it from where he stood. It brought a strange heaviness on his shoulders. He knelt again beside the bed and took her hands in his, kissing each knuckle.
“I’m so sorry,” Matt whispered, tears falling down his cheeks—tears of sadness, tears of rage. “I’m so sorry—“
“Shh,” she hushed him. She wasn’t crying anymore. She didn’t think she had any left. “Just be here with me. I need to feel you here with me.”
Matt took off his Daredevil suit and silently crawled into bed next to her. He carefully brought her close to him so she was snug against his chest. Safe in his arms, nothing could hurt her now.
Months have passed. It’s a bright cold day.
She and Matt are on their way to their favorite coffee spot uptown. They hardly ever leave Hell’s Kitchen, but she was in the mood for a specific hazelnut latte that only Rosie’s could make. And if it would make her happy to travel almost twenty minutes uptown for a cup of coffee, well, Matt wasn’t going to argue.
He never brought up that night unless she did. So when she opted to wear a beanie and put on gloves, Matt couldn’t help but feel lighter in his step from the happiness he felt: she was on her way to healing from that experience. He felt like he could forgive himself now.
“Ready?” She asked at the door, clearly too excited to get this cup. Matt laughed and kissed her before answering. He was so incredibly happy that she seemed to be happy again.
“Ready.”
The coffee shop had wooden floors and matching wooden tables. In the back was a small bookstore, and on the side the place had a coffee counter. Soft jazz music was playing. Some people were already settled in: a man had his headphones on and was typing aggressively on his laptop, and a young college girl was studying her books. Matt sensed his surroundings everywhere they went to make sure there were no threats.
“Why don’t you go look at the books while I order our coffee,” Matt suggested lightly, untying the gray scarf around his neck.
“Okay,” she smiled, squeezing his hand before letting go and exploring the back of the cafe.
Matt waited in line at the coffee counter and sighed contently.
She immediately was drawn to the fantasy books section. She took off her gloves and placed them in the pocket of her coat. Scanning each title, she picked one out that piqued her interest and frowned when the summary wasn’t what she expected. Another title made her laugh, but she didn’t bother to read the back. She found herself in a different section—romance. She smiled as she glazed over each book spine with her fingers. Romance books always reminded her of Matt. She often imagined what their story would look like in a romance novel.
And then she heard it.
Suite No. 1 in G Major, BWV 1007: 1. Prelude
The violins sounded like nails on a chalkboard, bloody fingertips leaving a trail. It sounded like a screech against the pavement.
It suddenly felt like she no longer was standing in the middle of an aisle of books. Instead, her body was being pulled and sucked into a black hole behind her. Everything around her felt overwhelmingly large and she was small, like she was Alice. Fear crept over her heart like a spider weaving its web. She felt hot in her jacket. Her heart was beating heavily in her chest like a punching bag.
The song got louder. And louder. And louder.
“No,” she whispered to herself, shutting her eyes tightly. But closing her eyes and seeing darkness only made it worse. “No…” she opened her eyes and felt like she had tunnel vision.
Matt was standing in line when he heard something pounding loudly in his ears. It only took him a second to hear the song that was playing, and he was immediately looking around for her. The pounding was coming from her—from her heart.
In no time Matt was by her side, wrapping his arms around her and quickly walking her outside the cafe—away from the lingering glances, away from that horrible song. Removing her from the triggering situation, knowing she was spiraling.
She was breathing fast now from panic. Matt brought her into a quiet alley and wrapped her in a bear hug, holding her tightly against him. Her hair covered his face as he turned to breathe in her scent. He took a deep breath, and at the same time, motioned for her to breathe with him.
“I’m here,” he said into her ear softly, “I have you. Breathe with me, okay?”
“Okay,” she managed to say between breaths, feeling like her own air was choking her. She breathed with Matt and closed her eyes, his touch and warm hug bringing her back to reality.
“Listen to my voice,” Matt guided, “I’m here. I have you. I’m not going anywhere.”
Matt’s voice was always soothing to her, but especially at a moment like this. His voice sounded like how velvet felt.
Eventually, just standing in his arms holding her tightly, her breathing returned to normal and that song was out of her head, as were her memories of that night. A few silent moments passed. Matt kissed her head softly and held her longer. He’d hold her for as long as she needed. When she was finally okay, she pulled back and reached her lips to kiss Matt’s. He kissed her in return and placed his hands on her face.
“I’ll always be here for you,” Matt whispered.
Matt went inside to get their coffee while she waited for him outside. Soon enough, they were back at the apartment, finishing the last of their drinks and sitting on the couch. She rested her head in his lap and Matt drew circles in her hair, counting the breaths it took for her to fall asleep. He’d of course be there when she woke up.

[part two]
care packages
Tumblr media
The first time it happened, Matt hadn’t thought much of it. He simply thought he’d placed an order that he had forgotten about, tossed the package containing a first aid kit and other items into his bathroom, and called it a day. Ever since taking down Fisk, the caseload at Nelson and Murdock had nearly quadrupled, and all the remaining crime lords in Hell’s Kitchen were competing for the vacant throne. Needless to say, Matt hadn’t been sleeping more than usual, and if you asked him what day it was, he probably couldn’t even tell you.
But then it happened again. And again. And again. And again.
Every couple of weeks, a new package arrived at Matt’s door, and the contents varied with each box. Some of them contained first aid kits, bottles of ibuprofen, other over the counter medications, ice packs, epsom salts, and various other supplies. Other times there were carefully packaged homemade dishes and freshly baked treats. Foggy and Karen both swore it wasn’t them, and even inspected the packages on Matt’s behalf. There wasn’t ever a note left, or anything written on the boxes, so none of them could figure out where they were coming from. Foggy lit up like a child on Christmas morning every time Matt entered the office with a new batch of goodies, and Matt couldn’t deny how nice it was to have a break from all the takeout. Whoever was leaving the packages was an excellent cook, and an incredibly skilled baker, but not knowing who was leaving the packages or why was driving Matt absolutely insane.
Between both of his hectic lives, he didn’t have much time to investigate where the packages were coming from. He had asked his neighbors on a whim if they had seen anything, but they didn’t have a clue either. On the rare occasion when Matt did have an off day, he camped out on his couch in anticipation, hoping the next care package would arrive while he was home.
But it never did.
Karen had suggested leaving his business card taped to his front door, making the argument that it had his name and phone number on it in case whoever it was felt brave enough to contact him. But Matt was hesitant, because he wasn’t sure if the person leaving the care packages was leaving them for him, or for the Devil of Hell’s Kitchen, and the latter made him nervous. He had no idea if they had made the connection, and he didn’t want to make it for them.
For two months, Matt drove himself completely crazy trying to solve the mystery.
By some miracle, or the grace of God, Matt was home at a normal time one Thursday evening. He was in the kitchen loosening his tie and reaching for a beer in the fridge when he smelled it. A familiar scent of freshly baked chocolate chip cookies that had been infused with cinnamon and nutmeg. The exact same chocolate chip cookies that had been left in front of his door four times in the past two months. The ones Foggy had dubbed, “crack cookies”. They were, in his defense, highly addictive.
Matt instantly froze, focusing solely on the sound of light footsteps approaching his door from the side of the hallway by the stairwell. The person’s heartbeat was steady, and they were humming softly to themselves as they bent down to place the package directly in front of Matt’s door. Matt abruptly slammed his fridge shut, racing towards his front door to fling it open like a madman, nearly tearing it off the hinges in the process and earning a shocked gasp from you as you were still knelt in front of his door.
He cocked his head to the side slightly, noting the sharp uptick in rhythm of your heart rate as you stared wide eyed up at him, fingers gripping tightly onto the sides of the container. For a moment, neither of you said anything, until the scent of cortisol creeping into your bloodstream snapped Matt back into focus.
“Are…are you the person that’s been leaving these?”
Letting out a shaky breath, you swallowed thickly as you gave a slight nod of your head.
“I…um…yeah.”
Your voice was timid and quiet as it came out, and there was something familiar about it. There was also something incredibly familiar about your scent, but Matt couldn’t quite place it. Your heart was thundering loudly in Matt’s ears, and he could hear the anxiety in every shuddering breath you took in. As his tongue darted out to quickly wet his lips, he slowly extended his hand out towards you.
“Do you…will you come in?”
Glancing between Matt’s outstretched hand and the dish in your own, you stared up at him silently for a moment. It suddenly occurred to him that his reaction might have made you more tense than the fact that you had been caught, and he pulled his lips into a gentle half smile.
“I’m not upset. I just…want to talk to you, if that’s alright?”
His words seem to put you at ease, and you carefully placed your hand into his own, allowing him to pull you up to your feet. Matt liked how soft your hand felt in his own, and he reluctantly let go to step back to grant you space, gesturing for you to come inside. After closing his door, he followed you cautiously into his living room, tuning all of his senses into you as you turned around to face him while still clutching the dish in your hands. There was something recognizable about you, but Matt for the life of him couldn’t place what it was.
“Um…I guess the obvious first question is…why you’re leaving all these care packages?”
Matt kept his voice even and gentle, not wanting you for a second to think that he was upset. As far as he could tell, you were leaving them with genuine intentions, and while that warmed his heart, he still wanted to know why. He caught the way you trapped your bottom lip between your teeth and tilted your head to stare down at the dish in your hands, taking in a deep, shaky breath before answering.
“Because you saved my life.”
Matt’s lips parted slightly in surprise, cocking his head to the side slightly as he took a step closer towards you and fixed his gaze in your direction with an expression of confusion.
“I…I’m sorry, I don’t think I’ve represented you-”
“You were wearing a different suit.”
Matt’s entire body instantly went rigid. You did know who he was. Panic started to rise in his chest, and his brain wasn’t working fast enough to come up with some kind of lie or excuse to protect his identity.
“I…I don’t…I t-think you must have me confused with someone else-”
“Those men didn’t just want to rob me. They wanted to hurt me. They followed me home from that bar and pulled me into that alley. If you…hadn’t shown up when you did, they probably would’ve killed me, or left me there after they did what they really wanted to. I…I’m honestly not sure which would’ve been worse.”
Matt stilled hearing the way your voice trembled, tasting the fear that built in the corners of your eyes as the memory sent a shiver cascading down your spine. Suddenly it all clicked into place. That’s why he remembered you. He recognized your voice because he remembered hearing your frenzied cries for help from the rooftop. He recalled the scent of you lingering beneath his nose while he held you comfortingly to his chest as you gripped onto his shoulders, begging him not to leave you alone in the dark. After taking care of the men that had attacked you, he’d waited with you until the cops came, doing his best to keep you calm and reassuring you that you were safe.
Your name tumbled from his lips before he could stop himself.
“Y/N.”
He remembers asking for it that night. He remembers repeating it back to you soothingly, enjoying the way it tasted on his tongue while wiping your tears away with his gloved fingers. He remembers the sweet melody of your voice as you thanked him endlessly, and the way you struggled to let go of his hand once the police arrived and he had to disappear into the darkness.
He noted the way your lips tugged into the faintest of smiles as you nodded.
“You remembered.”
Matt had wanted to find you, as himself, to offer you legal representation if you wanted to build a case. But with things being so hectic lately, he never got the chance. Another wave of confusion settled over his features when he took another step forward towards you.
“Wait, but how did you-”
“I live in this building. I saw you on the roof about a week later.”
Matt’s lips parted slightly at your words, giving a slight nod of his head to encourage you to continue.
“I was up there kinda late one night. There was a lunar eclipse that was supposed to be visible at a certain time, and I wanted to see it. I saw you. You disappeared through that door on the roof, and I thought it just went to a stairwell, but none of the stairwells I found led to that same door. I kinda put it together that it only led to your apartment…and it wasn’t that hard to figure out which one was yours from there.”
“So…you didn’t…know that I was-”
“No. I didn’t know who you were, not really. I never saw you again after that. I just…you looked like you were hurt that night. I wanted to do something…something to help you. I felt like I owed you.”
Matt pursed his lips as he shook his head quickly, letting a dry chuckle escape his mouth.
“You don’t owe me anything.”
“I owe you my life.”
Matt paused at the sincerity in your voice, noticing that it came out a lot firmer as you spoke those words. His fingers twitched slightly at his sides as you let out a soft sigh, turning around to place the dish of cookies on his coffee table.
“Look, I’m sorry if I…I freaked you out or anything. I didn’t mean to. I just wanted to do something nice for you since you saved me. I figured you probably go through a lot of first aid kits and don’t have much time to cook with your busy night job.”
Matt chuckled softly as a light smile tugged at the corner of his mouth, placing his hands on his hips as he followed your movements.
“That’s an understatement. Can I…can I ask…why you didn’t say anything? I mean, you never knock or leave a note or anything.”
Nibbling at your bottom lip, you tucked a strand of hair behind your ear and shrugged lightly as you fiddled with a ring around your finger.
“I told you, I didn’t wanna freak you out. I’m sure you wear the mask for a reason. I…wanted to respect your privacy. Look, you don’t owe me anything, certainly not an explanation. You don’t have to tell me anything at all, and I would never tell anyone about this, I swear.”
The steady, strong rhythm of your heartbeat had Matt’s chest swelling with gratitude. He knew you were telling the truth.
“I believe you.”
There was a faint smile pulling at your lips as you stared at him, and Matt desperately wanted to know what you saw, and what you were thinking. He didn’t think it was a coincidence someone like you had fallen into his lap. He didn’t believe in coincidences. But he did believe in divine intervention. What were the odds of him saving your life, being your neighbor, and the recipient of your unwavering kindness and genuine understanding?
“I…I’m not a doctor, or a medical professional by any means, but I do know my way around a first aid kit. I’m also a horrible insomniac, so I’m usually awake at ungodly hours throughout the night. If you ever…need…or want any help, I just live a floor down. I’m in 5C.”
“I…thank you. And thank you for all of the care packages.”
“Thank you for saving my life.”
Matt felt his cheeks heat up at the candor in your voice. He didn’t get thanked often for what he did every night, not that the praise was his main motivator, but they were still two words he didn’t hear all that much. The people he took down certainly weren’t thanking him for sending them to prison, and sometimes the people he saved were in too much shock to speak, or he had to take off before he got caught by the cops. But something about the way the gentle inflection of your voice dripped into his ears like honey had warmth spreading throughout his entire body. He took another careful step towards you, extending his hand once again for you to take as his lips parted into a tender smile.
“Matthew. My name is Matthew.”
His heart started to beat a little faster feeling the way your mouth pulled into a smile of your own, reveling in the feeling of your soft hand slipping into his once again, fingers delicately curling around the bottom of his palm.
“It’s nice to meet you, Matthew. Officially.”
Matt keened at the way his name sounded falling from your lips, and he gave your hand a faint squeeze.
“It’s nice to meet you officially as well, Y/N.”
He didn’t miss the way your heart jumped slightly when he repeated your name, or the fact that neither one of you seemed to want to let go of the other’s hand.
“You know, my partner is going to be beyond excited that I’ve finally found the person responsible for those amazing cookies.”
Matt’s chest expanded with pride feeling the rise in temperature across your cheeks, lips parting slightly as your soft giggle hit his ears.
“Nice of you to share, Matthew.”
A wider smile tugged across his lips hearing you say his name again. He lightly stroked his thumb across your knuckle as he shrugged.
“I thought at first one of them was doing it, but neither of them are as good of a cook or a baker. You’re a hit in our office, by the way.”
“I am?”
“They ask me everyday if I’ve gotten a new care package. Obviously the edible ones are their favorite.”
Another soft giggle slipped past your stretched lips, and Matt found himself inching closer to the sound as heat spread down your neck and across your chest.
“They…they know, too?”
“They do.”
“Well, then they’re just as deserving.”
Matt found himself completely in awe of you, wondering how he had managed to find an angel when he walked the path of the Devil.
“Can I…can I take you to dinner? To say thank you.”
“You don’t have to thank me-”
“I want to. You’ve provided me with a ton of dinners lately. I’d like to treat you to one.”
Matt angled his head to the side slightly as he listened to your heart’s tempo increase, enjoying the way you delicately tightened your hold on his hand as you took in a shaky breath.
“Well, how can I refuse my savior?”
“You can’t. It’s against the law actually.”
A large grin spread across your mouth at Matt’s playful tone, peering up at him with curiosity.
“Are you a lawyer, Matthew?”
“I am.”
An incredulous giggle escaped your mouth as your brows knit together in the center of your forehead.
“So, wait…lawyer by day, vigilante by night? How does that work, exactly?”
“I’ll let you know when I figure that out.”
Matt chuckled softly as you giggled, resisting the urge to reach his hand up to tuck a strand of your hair behind your ear like he had done the first night he met you.
“So, Friday night?”
“You know where to find me.”
“I do, now.”

You peer out of the fenestrated walls, eyes glazing over the faint swinging of wooden signs and veranda covers. The ambience around you swirls like a sheer veil as you lean back into your seat, sighing out blissfully as your cooling charm beats with fervor, shielding you from the blistering heat of the summer day.
Dragging your eyes away from the bright view, you run your finger along the thick cardstock in front of you. The blocky letters begin to fade into the background of snowy mountain caps and faded waterfalls as you continue to trace your eyes over it.
‘Greetings from OREGON’
You flip the postcard over and swipe a finger across the swirly letters.
‘Hope you’re well, kid. - A. Fiske’
A sudden thudding noise echoes across from you, and you slowly shift to sit straight as your eyes drag themselves away from the letters. You tilt your head with a coy smile as your companion leans back to get comfortable, evidently miffed by the unrelenting heat waves.
“Good to see you, B.” You smile saccharinely, fingers dancing along the chilled cup in front of you.
Blaise rolls his eyes and places his own drink down on the table—iced americano, simple, bitter, and everything that Blaise wasn’t. You would never understand his fascination with the drink. He huffs before smiling sarcastically at you, “Yes, how long has it been? Two days?”
“Don’t whine, it’s unbecoming.” You mutter playfully, twirling your straw around the rim of your cup.
“Merlin, you’re even starting to sound like her. Really, no wonder mother finds you so endearing.” He tuts as he throws his elbow back to rest on the back of his chair.
You chuckle and shake your head, “Okay, let’s digress then.” You lean forward and cross your legs, “How is Draco doing? Theo is irritatingly uninformed on the topic.”
“He’s alright, thanks to you and Potter anyway. His father might not be facing a long sentence, but many of the elected Wizengamot heads are shifty even with your statements. Lucius Malfoy has been a slippery eel for a few years too long.” He hums, face unflinching as he sips on his potent drink, “How the mighty have fallen so.”
Nodding, your voice drops lower as you survey the rest of the cafe, “Azkaban will still do a number on him even with a lighter sentence. Narcissa is worried.”
“As she should be,” he replies curtly, “and speaking of Azkaban, how is Lord Black nowadays? He’s become quite the hermit. Is he faring well?”
You sigh and rub your chin, “Yeah, he’s just been busy with remodeling. He’s still quite miffed that Reggie and I decided to move out.”
“At least he has Potter with him.” Blaise supplies, eyes darkening in rumination at the mention of Regulus. He levels you with inquisitive eyes, “Before I forget, what should I send over?”
Furrowing your eyebrows, you hum, “How do you mean?”
“Your house warming gift, daft one.” He rolls his eyes lightly.
“Just bring your lovely self.” You huff out.
Blaise crosses an ankle over his knee, “A vase then.”
“If it clashes with the aesthetic then I’m tossing it into the basement.” You warn jokingly, smiling widely at your friend.
He shakes his head with a muffled chuckle, “No worries. Anyways, you still need to unpack, right? Need any help?”
“Oh? Work not keeping you busy enough?” You rest back against your chair, head bleeding with thoughts about how taxing work has been in the past few months with the Ministry trying to dial the reconstruction process to an inconceivable pace.
Blaise groans at the reminder, taking a long sip of his drink, “Merlin, they should rename the whole Department! Department of International Magical Cooperation? What a joke, all they do is sit in an oval and squabble.”
You throw your head back to laugh, a feathery light bubble of relief expanding in your chest. It was mind-boggling to think that not even a year ago you were all fighting for your lives, and now the same backdrop of fear that followed everyone around for so many years had disintegrated. People strided through halls and streets with lifted shoulders and bright eyes, war-hardened, but jovial as their burdens gave way.
Blaise had worked his way up the Department of International Magical Cooperation, often leaving meetings with a sharp migraine and dwindling hope in the frequency of common sense. Theodore was faring well, now a highly revered Unspeakable for the Time Branch, all made possible with his swift denouncement of his father. Draco was the more withdrawn one out of the three, but you held out hope for him, having corresponded with him over his budding fascination for Alchemy.
You found that your new friends were on your mind often, and you were endlessly grateful to them as they took Regulus’ reintegration into society with stride, often giving you advice on how to politely tell inquisitive reporters to bugger off. Meetings with them were slowly becoming a rarity as all of you became engrossed in work, but your friendships remained resolute as you all quickly became each other’s closest confidants.
Luna wrote to you often, and you sent her trinkets and snacks by the dozen, finding yourself constantly worried that others would mistreat the girl with the absence of your friend group. Luckily, the girl found a friend in Ginny, and you were looking forward to reuniting with her during her Summer Break.
Harry and Ron were inducted into the Auror ranks by Shacklebolt only a few weeks after the war. You had your reservations about their decision to jump into such a high-risk job, the stench of carnage and battle throbbing like an open wound, but they insisted that they would never be able to focus enough to finish school.
On the opposite side of that sentiment, there was Hermione. She had quickly delved back into Hogwarts’ curriculum amidst its reconstruction, and was now looking to you with hopeful words about beginning her own sabbatical.
You had published your research under both yours and Regulus’ name, omitting information about Regulus’ discovery of sentient portraits as a precaution for the future.
You both respected Anders’ wish to leave his name off the cover and the research, but he failed to warn you against leaving his name anywhere else, so simply on the first page of your book, you dedicated the findings to him and Asger with a simple ‘For A. & A. Fiske.’
The research was groundbreaking, to say the least. You wouldn’t be able to forget the swaths of letters and documents from the Ministry, and one very heated missive to you from Blaise about how he was even more swamped with work, many foreign countries reaching out to inquire about the findings.
It all paid off though, the royalties you and Regulus got would sustain you both for the rest of your humble lives, and the boost on your portfolio made getting a job in the Department of Mysteries a cakewalk.
Once the sun rolled across the cloudless sky, the singing blues morphing to hues of pinks and purples, you bid your friend goodbye, wishing him luck with work and promising to gather with the rest of your friends the following week.
You were certain that apparition was the most useful skill you had in your toolbelt, and you couldn’t fathom how you managed to survive the majority of your life without such a feat. As your shoes pad against the pavement, the bristling of leaves skidding around you, you let out a content sigh as you approach your destination.
It was the closest thing you had to home for so long, and it still felt like safety and comfort despite the sudden heaviness of your own house keys in your pocket. As you pop the door open, head peeking around the heavy wood, your face lights up as a figure comes into view.
“You’re home!” You exclaim excitedly, stepping inside with a wide grin.
Harry approaches you and gives you a fleeting hug, hand raising to adjust his glasses as he pulls back, “Yeah, Tonks let me off early. How was your meeting with Blaise?”
“Good,” you draw out suspiciously, eyes narrowing as you both pace through the dim walkway, “how’d you know about that?”
“Regulus.” He answers simply, eyebrows raising in tease as you huff.
You both cross into the threshold of the kitchen, stopping in your tracks as you see countless manuals splayed across the wide berth of the table. Regulus and Sirius are both hunched over in their seats, flipping furiously through the catalogues.
“Some light reading, Sirius?” Your voice rings out playfully, body already moving towards your squinting boyfriend. Both men shoot up from their positions and blink owlishly at you and Harry, the sea of papers long forgotten.
“Furniture shopping, pup!” Sirius replies with a tired grin as he stretches his arms over his head.
Regulus rises from his chair and meets you halfway, arms wrapping securely around your body as he burrows his face into the crook of your neck. A few more moments pass by before he cranes back and blinks slowly at you, “Birdie.”
You run a hand through his curls and smile lightly, “Love.”
Regulus keeps you secure to him as he moves to drop back down into his seat, leaning his head against your stomach as you remain standing. Your eyes drop down to look at the varying bleak images on the shining white pages.
Raising your eyebrows, your eyes drift around an image of a steep bookshelf with two glass doors, “Is this for us or Sirius?”
Sirius leans back in his seat and rubs the bridge of his nose, “Your place. Reggie helped me pick out a few pieces earlier.”
Your eyes wander around the aged cabinets and drabby wallpaper, trying to envision the space in a remodeled visual, one that would be Sirius-esque rather than screaming of cobwebs and medieval torture. You smile minutely before reaching a hand out across the table, bringing your other hand to card through Regulus’ hair as you mutter quietly to the tired man across from you, “I’m happy for you, Sirius.”
The man reciprocates your smile and clasps his hand in yours, “Thank you, pup. I’m happy for you too,” he huffs and glances at Regulus, who remained immobile against your stomach, “the both of you.”
The tender moment continues for a few more beats before Harry slowly leans on the seat next to Sirius’, eyes scrutinizing a forgotten pile of booklets off to the older man’s left, “Sirius, where are we going to put a lion table?”
You snort out a muffled laugh as the man swivels over to his godson with beaming eyes, knowing that Harry would be whining to you later about Sirius’ ineptitude at interior decorating.
“You should start cleaning up, Remus will be here soon for dinner.” You murmur with a pointed look at the trio.
As the final outlines of the sun slinks away in the horizon, you and Regulus bid farewell to the occupants of Grimmauld Place, intent on spending the rest of the night in your home. It was fortunate that Regulus had managed to set up the floo network to your home only a matter of days before, and the journey back left little room for complaints as the green flames dragged away from your vision.
You step out into the darkness of your study room, ears perking imperceptibly when the network flares again as Regulus joins you. The twilight sky filters into your home, dimly illuminating the barren room.
“We’re home.” You mutter with a content smile.
Regulus slowly pads towards you, wrapping his arms around your waist as he sways you both. Your eyes are drawn to the French casement windows behind the desk, getting lost in the sight of the dancing flower field.
“Shall we head to the cliff, birdie?” Regulus muses, eyes following your gaze as he drifts into rumination.
You nod and reluctantly step forward, pivoting on your heel and dropping a hand onto Regulus’ arm, “I’ll meet you at the front? I need to drop off a few things in the bedroom.”
“Of course, baby.” He leans over to capture your lips in a soft kiss, hands dropping to your hips as he lightly grips onto you.
Humming against his lips, you slowly pull back and rub a thumb across his cheek, “I’ll be quick, promise.”
He pecks your lips again and gives you one last squeeze before he slowly backs away, shooting you a warm smile as he makes his way to the entryway. You retreat from the study room soon after, making a sharp right turn as you pace towards your shared bedroom.
Regulus had been the one to bring up the idea of getting a beach house, assuring you that he was unsettled by still water and not turbulent waves. It was a quaint building, one that sprouted into the center of a lustrous flower garden, and you both knew it was the one when you toured it. Just a short walk away from the blooming fields, a precipitous cliffside broke away and loomed over a thick landing of sand, giving a small brief from the swaying waves
As you enter the lusterless room, you shed away your bag and walk towards your bedside table, propping the Oregon postcard against your lamp. Atop the same white bedside table sat Regulus’ old golden frame, now whole and without trace of ever having been shattered. Under the frame, the folded piece of paper that Regulus had given you the night after you bought the property peeked out.
You grasp both items in your hands, and smile lightly as an idea formulates in your head.
“Kreacher!” You call lightly.
The house-elf pops into the bedroom with a curious frown, teetering towards you as you extend the items out. You fish out your wand as Kreacher grabs the frame, muttering a faint engorgio at the rectangular object. The frame wobbles in the elf’s grasp before slowly stretching to nearly thrice its original size.
“Could you possibly frame this note for me? Maybe above the headboard?” You request with a small smile.
“Kreacher will do that.” The house elf nods and begins to fiddle with the frame.
Your eyes run across the note one more time before you hand the slip to the elf, making your way out to Regulus with a fleeting farewell. The boy has a jacket slung over his arm as he waits for you by the door, carding his hair back as a flicker of joy flashes through his eyes when you appear in his line of sight.
“All ready?” He murmurs once you reach him.
“More than ready.” You reply with a hum, leaning to peck his cheek.
The trek towards the cliffside passes by in the blink of an eye, and you’re left with butterflies in your stomach as Regulus picks several tulips for you along the way. By the time you’re close enough to the ocean to hear the crashing of waves, you are left to huddle close to Regulus for warmth.
The sky begins to darken above you, but you give no protest when Regulus drags you to sit down on the ground. He peers up at the sky above him, eyes tracing across the faint twinkles of the approaching stars.
You bring a hand to trace his chest as you do the same, cradling the flowers to your side as you begin to sift through the reel of memories in your head.
“I love you, birdie.” Regulus whispers into the air, his arm moving to rest on your waist.
You smile widely and press your face into the crook of his neck, “I love you.”
And as you both laid under the stitches of glowing stars, sharing tiny whispers and shielding each other from the brutal winds, back in your home, Kreacher makes the last adjustments to the new wall decor.
Kreacher mutely assesses the space as he backs out, the elf’s head full of future possibilities.
It was peaceful. After so many years, he felt at peace.
The door closes with a faint click just as the stars peek through the bedroom window, reflecting off the glowing frame. The swirls of inks encapsulated in the shining beams dance amongst the canvas of the wall.
‘29 October, 1979
I wonder what being in love feels like.
26 April, 1999
Love is like flying freely from the inhibitions of your burdens, where your person is your wings, your eyes, and your heart; you soar freely with the knowledge that they will carry you above the storms of doubt. I no longer wonder because now I know.’
Fin.

❛ what do you want from me? ❜ - Lon'qu @ Fiske <3
Tumblr media
Fiske panicked as she had approached Lon'qu for a reason, but her words completely missed her as he asked her such a simple question. Now she really was going to look like a fool telling him she didn't remember what she went up to him for. She sighed inwardly as she figured making up some excuse might be for the best until she remembered what it was she needed.
"Uh, I just wanted to check up on how you're doing! That's all. I always want to make sure the heroes I summon are okay. I know I don't necessarily make an appearance often, but er... it's important for morale that I do occasionally!" The emblian summoner realized she accidentally rambled, making anything she said a little awkward. How approachable. She was convinced this is why she needed to work on her social skills a little more, that was the most embarrassing thing she could have done! Fiske could only hope that Lon'qu would say something to make the situation just a little better. If he left... she wouldn't blame him.

softer shippy prompts. ( @voraxiia asked: [ tear ] // fuyumi & fiske )
Tumblr media
The  merprince  did  not  get  upset  and  cry  easily,  usually  a  very  bubbly  and  happy  person  but  even  he  could  get  sad  and  be  moved  to  tears  sometimes  (  it  would  simply  surprise  him  as  much  as  another  seeing  him  suddenly  burst  into  tears  ).  His  tears  are  almost  comical  in  the  size  as  they  tumble  down  his  cheeks,  perhaps  due  to  the  affinity  for  water  that  he  had  after  all.
His  golden  eyes  are  on  Fuyumi  but  everything  is  so  unfocused  due  to  the  tears  that  keep  coming  one  right  after  the  other  so  he  doesn't  notice  how  others  hand  moves  closer  to  his  face  until  there's  fingers  wiping  at  those  tears.  His  bottom  lip  trembles  as  he  blinks  rapidly  to  try  and  get  his  vision  to  focus  fully  on  Fuyumi.  ❛  Fuyumi  .  .  .  ❜  His  words  are  quiet  and  shaky.  ❛  I'm  sorry  .  .  .  I'm  just  being  one  big  annoyance,  aren't  I  ?  ❜

The sounds of Hell's Kitchen filled Matt's apartment as you finally get out of bed for the day. People talking, car horns beeping, police sirens in the distance. It was a late night filled with vigilante escapades and sex with your boyfriend.
You sit up on the bed to stretch your sore muscles, feeling the aches of bruises from the past week on your skin. You heard Matt stir, a sign that he will be awake soon.
There's no point in trying to be quiet around him. He can hear your heartbeat from 5 blocks down.
"Good morning, sweetheart." You hear Matt's morning voice behind you. As you turn around, you marvel at the man that you share a bed with every night. His hazel eyes have a touch of sunlight in them, the green popping ahainst his tired eyes.
"Good morning Matthew." You press your lips to his pillow soft ones, a place you have grown fond of. His lips had to have been sculpted by the Gods. His face is a Renaissance painting. Only you get to feel it with your fingertips.
"You must've slept well. You added the good in 'good morning'." Matt brought his hand to the side of your face, stroking your cheek with his thumb.
"Ever since I started staying with you, I've slept so much better." You close your eyes and lean your cheek into his palm.
Before Matt, you were a vigilante that was frequently hired by people like Wilson Fisk to take out any enemies, or potential enemies.
The first time you met you were assigned to take out Daredevil. Obviously, that's not an easy task. But you needed the money.
The night was cold, your skin filled with goosebumps as you jumped from rooftop to rooftop. You would hear steps, but never saw him.
Until he striked.
Fisk wanted Daredevil gone, but he is a force to be messed with. You kept running into him, but never having the guts to take him out, and he felt the same as you.
You didn't know he was Matt Murdock until a few months after your first encounter. You were jaded from your past, as was he. Learning to trust does not come easy to either of you.
"Baby, come back to bed." Matt almost whined, his large hands grasping yours to pull you down to him.
"Fine, 5 minutes." You eliminate any space between your bodies and allow your lips to find his.
"Make that forever." Matt smirked against your lips.
"You're impossible." You feel Matt's tongue snake into your mouth, doing a dance you are all too familiar with.
The first time you and Matt had sex there was undeniable lust, love, and magic in the air. You both avoided your attraction to each other for so long. At the end of the day, the only people that didn't want to admit that you two were made for each other was you and Matt.
"I can't deny you anymore." Matt said helplessly. "Everything about you is everything I want in my life. Everything you are, I, I-"
You stare at his face as he speaks, his eyes moving to different spaces in the room with every word.
"I can't stay away from you. No matter how much you may want me to, or the world may want me to, I can't." Matt's tongue grazed his lower lip. "I want to fall asleep next to you. I want to wake up next to you. I want to share my coffee with you, even though you're psychotic and drink iced coffee regardless of the temperature outside. So you wouldn't want any of mine anyways. But I want to have the chance to share it with you."
"Matthew, are you going to let me speak?" You uncross your arms from your chest. "I wouldn't mind hearing your little speech for awhile though."
"Go ahead." Matt cleared his throat.
"I want you too." You take a step closer to Matt, taking a closer look at the bruises that mark his skin. "I want to learn how to play poole for you. I want to sit on your rooftop and take in the sounds and smells of New York with you. I want to kiss your lips first thing and the morning even though you probably have nasty morning breath."
"Aren't you just a romantic." Matt followed your lead and took a step closer to you. "Tell me to stop." He took another step towards you.
Silence.
Then another step.
And another.
And another.
Matt was now in front of you, his nose grazing yours, his hands hovering over you. "Tell me to stop."
You stare at him, silent.
His hands pressed against your hips, dragging along your curves until he grips your ass. His forehead presses to yours, like the world was finally aligned.
Matt's lips found yours, moving slowly and deliberately. His mouth was starved from yours for so long that he wanted to savor this moment. He palmed your ass gently as he slipped his tongue into your mouth, pushing your body against his once more.
"You are addicting." Matt broke the kiss briefly. He lifted you from your hips to wrap your legs around his waist, kissing you as he brought you to his bedroom where you would spend hours in the sheets.
"I'm gonna brew your coffee, baby." You plant a kiss on Matt's lips, his palm on the back of your head as you pull away. The pad of his thumb stroked your hair as you pulled away. "You never make getting out of bed easy."
"I never will."
As you brew Matt's coffee, you go through the mental checklist of what needs to be done for today. Grocery shopping, a jog through the park, and to clean Matt's apartment.
You pour the hot liquid into Matt's favorite mug - it's nothing special, but it's big enough for two cups of coffee so he loves it.
You pour a splash of creamer into the cup, stirring it with a spoon. You smile at your reflection in the liquid, unsure of how you were so lucky to live this life with Matthew.
"Be careful, it's hot-" You look up from the mug to see the bed empty.
You didn't hear Matt move from the bed. The bathroom door was never opened. You could still see the silhouette of his body tangled in the sheets.
"Matt?!" You said loudly. "This isn't funny." You opened the closet door, then the bathroom.
Nothing.
You hear people outside screaming.
"She was just here!! Where the hell did she go? She just... dusted away." You heard someone say outside the window.
"I was just talking to him and then he was evaporating before my eyes." Another worried voice screams.
Your heart fell to your stomach. You run to the bed, running your hand over where Matt's body just was.
It was still warm.

I legit wanna sit and scream over how good Echo was. I want to s c r e a m
Fun, good fight scenes, and a nice improvement over a lot of what the Big MCU has had so far imo
We got some blood and darkness again which has been soooorely missing
The gorgeous transitions between sound and silence, weaving you in and out of Maya's perspective
CREATION STORIES I LOVE CREATION STORIES
MATT WAS THERE FOR 30 SECONDS IT MADE ME SO HAPPY DEVIL VOICE GRR
The parallels and differences between Fisk and Maya were - not SUPER subtle since they bring you attention to it, but not ham handed either which I loved
Maya's arc is BRILLIANT - you know I love me some morally grey protags looking for redemption
The scene of her grandad selling to the Karen and Greg and they ask about a Najavo rug had me ROLLING because... yeah I've met those people 🥴
HEALING. HEALING. HEALING. THE SYMBOLISM OF THE BIRD AND FISK????
NETFLIX DAREDEVIL IS CANON, WHEN I SAW THAT HAMMER I WAS SHOOOOOOK
Fisk where is your WIFE
Did anyone catch the Fisk's Dad Fisk Beats The Bully Ice Cream Man and Baby Fisk Child Maya Kicks Him Too parallels???? No? Just me?
Maya making the rollerskate gun to shoot bolts was fucking hilarious
'Breakfast. Most important meal of the day.' I love her your honor
The way ALL her fucking ancestors showed up to help gave me legit chills, it was SO FUCKING COOL
I LOVE IT I WANT MORE
I guess this means I'll eventually have to do a TRT sequel set in this time period after the official end of TRT just post S3, or at least some one-shots if only so I can write Maya too, oh no, how surprising, who could have expected that. 🤷‍♀️

fiske looking at pet ( and secretly at smooch )
ㅤㅤㅤof course he would .ㅤ❝ㅤcome closer then ,ㅤ❞ㅤbeckoning the merman over before giving him a firm , but gentle pat on the head . once , twice , before his hand stills , though fingers remain buried in soft blue hair . that's enough for now , right ?

This Is Me Trying - Intro - (A Y/N Parker Spider-Woman X Kate Bishop Story)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Alright, people, let's do this… My name is Y/N Parker. I'm 21 years old. I go to college with my brother Peter and our friends MJ, Ned and Kate. Oh, and for the last three years, I have been the one and only Spider.. Well Spider-Person! I've saved the city! Had a crush on my friend since the beginning of college. Stopped some bike thieves. And watched two of the world's greatest archers destroy a Christmas Tree and an Ice Rink. All to stop our common enemy, Wilson Fisk. The Kingpin. But a year after that, and I still don't know who Clint Barton has working with him. What I do know is I'm trying to hold it all together. This is me trying…
The story will be told in Third Person POV

[ID: a digital illustration done by @sadfishkid of the four player characters in my homebrew D&D campaign. The four characters from left to right are Zamira, a tiefling bard, (@brandnewsetofbones), Ernest (@teacupsinspace), a high elven sorcerer, Fiske (@potatosoda) a half-elf, half-dragonborn cleric and Kieran (@fearless-flower), a drow rogue/fighter. They are walking towards the viewer and looking around as they wander over a feywild carnival. All of them except for Ernest are holding colorful ice-cream cones. Red pseudo dragons fly through the foreground, a bunny person sells tickets to a snail race to the right, colorful tents, flowers and mushrooms as well as giant snails can be seen in the background. Everything is very bright with a festive atmosphere.
Zamira is a red tiefling woman with long, black, curly hair, golden hoop earrings, black eyes and dressed in a white blouse and a corset. Her horns are curled and she smiles as she looks to the side with one hand on Fiske's arm. Ernest is a tall, black man with dreadlocks pulled back in a high bun. He's dressed in purple, gold and white and looks seriously over to where Zamira is looking. Fiske is an east-asian man with short, brown hair, golden scales on his cheek and two differently colored eyes. He's dressed in black and gold and smiles. Kieran has dark-grey skin and long, pointy ears, untidy black hair and is dressed in black leather armor. He looks astonished. End ID]
I commissioned Tasha (again) for a present for my players <3 They went to a feywild carnival and I've been staring at the result for a million years. Go commission Tasha, her work is so amazing and she's great to work with!!
