Was he nervous? Yes. Was he unsure of their victory? Never. Chrom knows their cause is just and Grima needs to be stopped. However, he was like any other leader in his place, worried for his comrades, for his countrymen, for his own family.

Chrom was looking at Falchion, thinking about everything had transpired these past two years. How chaotic it had been, despite that there were good moments--falling in love, marrying, having his first child ... many things. These are his treasured memories and he won’t let anyone take that away from him. Every Ylissean feel the same as him and he will carry their wills in this battle to put an end, once and for all to Grima.

Drawing his sword back in its sheath, he noticed Rebecca walking in and before he knows it, she kissed him. It was not a strange thing but usually she would make a jab at him or something. “What’s wrong, love?” gently cupping her face, he inquired if something on her mind.

Her words set a deep realization that, yes they are literally going to their deaths in this battle. His mind turned white, unable to think of something at that moment, simply feeling like he was greatly being pulled down by gravity to the ground. His back feeling a bit hot then cold to the thought of this might be ....could be their last interaction. 

Rebecca’s arms engulfed Chrom’s head, bringing him close to her chest as she whispered reassuring words to him. His tensed body slowly relaxing like an ice cube melting against a warm flame. Why is he afraid? Does he not trust his men? Does he not trust himself? Does he not trust his wife to come out of this safe and sound along side him? 

How stupid ... the first step to defeat is this. He cannot falter now.

Wrapping his arms around her waist, Chrom hugged her tightly, sneaking a kiss to her neck. “Not just once... We are going to kiss tonight, tomorrow, and after that. We’re going to be together. We will win and live the rest of our lives together, my love. We have ... our daughter to come back to. I refuse to let her suffer the same end like Lucina from the future.
