• Emmett is a simple and, more often than not, practical man. He’s not fancy or over the top with things like “just because” gifts and dates. No, anything from him comes from the heart - not the wallet.

• When he decides it’s been too damn long since he’s spent quality time with his girl - without the boys being involved - he gets to work.

• The first thing he does is make sure that your schedules are clear for a weekend. Because this man isn’t going to be satisfied with just one night with you.

• The second thing he does is send his boys off for that weekend, so they won’t walk in on interrupt the two of you. Luckily his parents volunteer to take them, his dad offering his sons a trip to the lake.

• Again, this man does not do fancy or expensive. He’s not cheap, just practical. He’ll save a date to an expensive restaurant for your anniversary or another special occasion.

• What he does do is he comes home a bit earlier than usual and gets to work. He starts by cleaning up around the house, making sure toys are put away, counters are clean, floor is swept, etc.

• And personal maintenance. It’s nothing major he needs to do, the man’s not a heathen. He just tidies up his appearance a bit - takes extra care with his nails, showers, shaves, and puts on that cologne you got him.

• He’s already informed you that you have the house to yourselves all weekend. He thought it might startle you a little to come home and find the boys gone.

• So when you do get home, the lack of two noisy boys isn’t want surprises you.

• It’s the fact that the house is practically spotless, brand new jars of your favorite scented candles are burning, there’s music playing somewhere, and a mouth watering aroma is wafting from the kitchen.

• After you’ve changed and Emmett has set the table, he pours you a glass of your favorite wine and the two of you sit down together.

• It’s nice - really, really nice. Emmett doesn’t cook a lot, but what he does cook it’s always so good.

• So you sit there, eating and laughing and enjoying each other’s company. And it feels so amazing to spend time together like this, just basking in each other’s presence. Relaxed.

• The entire night, Emmett looks at you like you are the sun, the moon, and every star. Because to him, you are. He knows that’s cheesy to say, but it really is true. And he tells you that throughout the night. How much he loves you, appreciates you, and adores you.

Cillian: Drinks a lot and throws himself into a role or other commitment to try and drown his sorrows. He’s extremely depressed and regretful for whatever caused the breakup, and he misses you like crazy. Tries to contact you daily to see if you guys can talk and work through it.

Emmett: Also drinks a lot and holes up in the house. Doesn’t open the curtains or even go outside for a few days. If you broke up because of something he did/didn’t do, he’s mentally beating himself up and trying to get back together. He’s coming by your house to try and talk.

Leonard: Throws himself into work, not eating or sleeping, and gets very short-tempered with everyone. Has thrown a glass or two against the wall after drinking, pissed at himself for losing you. He’s fighting his desire to have you back against not wanting to appear weak or desperate. Keeps going back and forth between frequently contacting you and going radio silent.

Neil: Is absolutely inconsolable for days, doesn’t even get out of bed, and is sleeping with your nightgown that you left behind at his house. He’s making every attempt to contact you and get back together, saying he’ll do anything for you to take him back. Can’t even manage to go to work, so the guys are running the store for him.

Robert: Is so sad and remorseful, that it’s the first time he’s ever missed work. He is devastated and is doing anything he can to try and fix things. Spends an ungodly amount of money on apology gifts and flowers, knowing that’s not really gonna solve anything but unsure of what else to do. He never knew he’d get like this, but he’s crazy about you and repeatedly begs you for another chance.

Tommy: Also drowns himself in booze and work, barely talking, and locking himself away in his office. Absolutely hates himself for losing you, as you were the best thing that ever happened to him. Also goes back and forth between being remorseful and angry, and wants to be strong and appear unaffected. Eventually can’t resist going to your house and demanding that you two work it out. Says he’s not leaving until you’re back together.

Raymond: Is incredibly mad at himself, not only for losing you, but for allowing himself to feel such strong emotions and love you as much as he does. Becomes even more of an asshole to everyone than usual as he tries to get absorbed in work to forget about you. It’s not successful, though, and you’re on his mind 24/7. He’s “casually” dropping into places he knows you frequent, just hoping to see you. Like Tommy, Ray eventually can’t resist showing up on your doorstep and demanding that you two work it out.

Jonathan: You’d never guess it based on how he continues to function like normal in public, but this man is devastated. Yes, the dynamic between the two of you was that he controlled you, but you absolutely possessed this man, and without you, he’s completely lost. Mentally, he knows he should be able to handle losing you, but he can’t. He’s contemplating day and night how to get you back.

Jackson: As much as he absolutely hates to admit it, even to himself, you were this asshole’s everything, and he’s a lethal combination of furious and depressed after losing you. He’s 100% stalking you, watching you constantly to see what you’re up to at any moment since you broke up with him, and he’s dead set on getting you back, no matter what it takes. No. Matter. What. It. Takes.

I love merthur and i love destiel too, and I added that scene from spn to make a comparison between the two ships. It wasn't meant to take anything away from the original post, but my intention was to give it a new light in addition (as people do on this site) by drawing a parallel with another piece of media. A lot of destiel fans love merthur too and i thought the op could get more reblogs and likes on their gif this way (reaching another fandom too).

I know how to make my own posts, I did plenty of them, actually.

What i don't know how to do is gifs, and i have deep appreciation for people who make them, and it is my understanding that they like exposure for their posts, so that their hard work can reach more people.

Joke's on you, I'm into that shit. Homestuck was an enormous and entirely positive part of my late teens and to this day there's nothing else like it. Like sometimes you just need to step back and think about how cool Homestuck is. MSPA invented a new format that HS constantly tested the limits of, giving us a comic where some of the panels are looping gifs and some are flash animations and some are fully playable video games. It had more prose than War and Peace by the time it was halfway done. It invented the concept of blackrom. A good third of it was written in a single year-long creativity bender. The fandom was like Inklings For Gay People and is still coughing out published artists. The cast is split 50/50 by gender and also by glasses wearing status just because...math. It wielded recurring motifs and colors and shapes and phraseology like an armory of weapons. At its peak it had a canon to cosplay rate of less than one hour. It contributed very significantly to keeping me sane in high school. Reading it gives you a very specific Homestuck Accent and will haunt you with concepts and imagery forever. Homestuck!

What basic things should people know about caring for leather?

So, leather is a skin, right?? It’s a hide. How do we care for our own skin?? Your basic steps:

Rinse

Clean

Rinse

Moisturize

A light spray of water, clean with a gentle soap (non-scented glycerin soap or saddle soap and a small horsehair/badgerhair brush), rinse and wipe off all the soap residue, and moisturize!

“Sen,” you say, “how do I moisturize leather?” Good question!! It’s going to depend on the type of leather.

There’s two big categories of leather; oil tan, and high shine. Oil tan leather is matte, soft, and more flexible (think of old leather dress shoes or casual boots). High shine leather is, well, self explanatory lol (shiny, less flexible, more glossy).

With oil tan leather, you’ll use a leather conditioner! Most bootblacks recommend Hubberd’s Shoe Grease (a heavier, denser conditioner), Obenauf’s Heavy Leather Preservative (more waxy), or Aussie Saddle conditioner (like Obenauf’s, but has a higher beeswax content). These are all pretty easily available online, and can even be bought in bulk and put into other containers!

For high shine leather, you use polish! There’s lots of different brands, but most folks get their start with Kiwi shoe polish (not super high quality, but readily available at big box stores like Walmart and Target). Most experienced bootblacks will use Lincoln or Angelus polish (your choice will depend on things like local humidity, altitude, experience, and technique). Apply a thin layer of polish to the boot, mist with a light spray of water, buff with a horsehair boot brush, and finish with a fine cotton buffing cloth!

I love bootblacking, and I love teaching. If anyone wants, I might record myself the next time I do my boots, so y’all can see these techniques in action!
