every time i research smth i consider to be a specifically american food (chicken nuggets, cool whip, american cheese) its origins lie in industry & theyre 'inventions' more than they are... foods. which is kinda crazy & so symbolic of what the US is in my head like all of them r innovations which make the foods resist better at diff temperatures so they can be sold in larger quantities

#whats crazy is there ARE actual american foods but they just havent become cultural exports #like ive never eaten collard greens or cornbread or clam chowder or whatever. never even had the option #which is kinda tragic bc it sounds like thats the real american food #like homemade food #ive tried diff kinds of fried chicken obvs in like kfc and popeyes but thats the extent of like regional american food ive been exposed to #all the stuff thats become like The american food has its origins in industry #[also when i say america im talking abt the US i should specify] [shoutout tomatoes and corn i love you tomatoes and corn thx for that]#food tw
