Sakura stood close to Ayato’s side, pouring tea as it ran out.  He was quite interested in their discussion.  He wasn’t quite sure about all that they were discussing, but it was clear that open trade routes were the most important thing.  Materials and craftsmen.  Military as well as domestic goods.

Of course.  He knew that would be an important part of the discussions today, and why Ayato took center stage in lieu of the king.  His eyes shifted to Diao Chan and gave a soft smile.  It truly was the first time he felt at ease in such an environment.  Once there was a knock on the he excused himself, smiling and allowing the servants to enter with their prepared meals for the guests.

“Ah, as most of the finer details have been ironed out, why don’t we take this time to enjoy ourselves… Sakura, please sit…” He was up then, pulling a chair out for the princess near him so they could both rest and eat.

The diplomats both rose, though Jefferson was the one who pulled a chair for Diao Chan.  “Please my lady do be seated.  We would be delighted if you join us.”

As a minister’s daughter, Diao Chan had become quite familiar with diplomatic discussions. Her father had always told her she need no listen to those talks if she did not wish too, yet still she payed attention, finding having the knowledge could be useful. 

And to her own ear, things seemed to be going quite well. Not a one of them had gotten loud or interrupted another. Things she witnessed happen before with her father, that usually followed with things going downhill. Seeing none of that here brought ease to her, able to return Sakura’s smile to her with confidence.

Then, the meals had arrived, & chairs were seemingly readily pulled out for the both of them. Ayato, of course, taking a chair for his beloved Sakura, & one diplomat taking one for Diao.

“You are very kind to me, sir.” The lady bowed her head in her generosity, accepting the offering to join the men at their meal, gracefully & softly walking towards & sitting into the seat Jefferson selected for her. “My many thanks for your generosity.”
