⛧ SELFSHIPTOBER 2024 Day 1 Confession

( > v <)b Excited for the chance to go all in with some of my selfships this month !! Under the cut, is the original fic I wrote a while back that inspired the image!

"I'll go out with you," the statement was a simple one, one that shouldn't have taken too much to register. As clear as a sunny day in the human realm.

Solomon can't quite wrap his head around it though. Maybe it was the laugh that accompanied Emeri's statement that made his train of thought fuzzier. Or the way it seemed like the half-demon before him was making the statement without batting an eyelash. Never in a million years would he ask Emeri out, not to say he wasn't interested.

He was interested.

Very interested.

He just figured... Emeri would never feel the same way. Yet here Emeri was, disproving everything with a single sentence.

“You look even more caught off guard than I do,” the half-demon noted with another giggle, a faint blush settling on his cheeks.

“Sorry, was my answer too bold?” Emeri asked, scratching the back of his neck. “Or….I completely misunderstood what you were saying and made myself look… really fucking stupid.”

“I… I didn’t think you’d accept?” Solomon blurted out hastily. He couldn’t have Emeri back down now. The opportunity might not ever arise again. Sure, this wasn’t the direction Solomon expected when asking Emeri to protect the human realm as partners… but he wasn’t going to let it slip his fingers now.

“I didn’t think I’d accept either,” Emeri admitted, cringing at the way the words sounded coming out of his mouth.

“Shit…! I just meant… I didn’t think you’d ask me out?” “I always imagined I’d be the one confessing to you. Granted…” Emeri furrowed his eyebrows for a moment. How would he have asked Solomon out? Someone with so much experience… He shook his head.

“The point is… I do really want to go out with you.” He confessed scratching his cheek lightly.

“Does this mean you might consider moving back to Purgatory Hall with me again?” Solomon teased a grin gracing his lips. “Or do you think Reina would kill me for stealing you away again?.” He questioned with a chuckle.

“Some people would consider that moving too quickly into a relationship,” Emeri countered playfully nudging the wizard's shoulder.

“Don’t be like that Emi,” Solomon said with a pout, “We’ve lived together in Purgatory Hall before...and the Human Realm. If I remember correctly you’re the one who approached me both times,” Solomon said, tapping Emeri’s nose causing the shorter of the two to snort.

“You would use that against me?” Emeri exaggerated putting his hand on his chest. “Y...You’re important to me just in case that wasn’t clear.”

“You did just accept me asking you out,” Solomon responded, “I think you might be a little bit into me but the clarification helps.”

Emeri stuck his tongue out in response, earning another snort from Solomon. “Here, I’ll make it up to you,” The sorcerer guaranteed, stretching his arms out.

Tilting his head in confusion, Emeri reached for Solomon’s hands. Taking the sorcerer's hands carefully into his own, Emeri gave them a gentle squeeze.

“Emeri..” The sorcerer said trying to hold back his laughter.

“Yeah, Sol?” Emeri questioned with a tilt of his head.

“I was trying to hug you, silly,” Solomon explained, watching Emeri’s expression change. From the realization subtly hitting, to the way his eyes widened and how red Emeri’s face got. Only to try to hide his expression behind his hands.

“Oh my god I flopped our post confession,” Emeri groaned, muffled from his hands.

“That’s the nature of boyfriends I think,” Solomon offered simply.

“Holy shit we’re boyfriends,” Emeri declared in awe, removing his hands from his face. “We’re dating. You like me!”

“Yeah, you like me back. You accepted my feelings. We are in fact boyfriends,” Solomon said fondly.
