@buffetpallascat doing a good ol' days reply because i had enough thoughts on this to warrant some meta, in my typical rambling fashion. hope you don't regret engaging by the time im done dfhkdsf
for starters, you're very welcome, i'm glad you enjoy the post :D
as for your question - i meant moreso that it was typical of the fandom, although it was also very much influenced by societal trends of the time, too. fandom's always had a rocky history with women, especially women who supposedly 'get in the way of "slash" couples', but the way fandom misogyny is performed has changed; i see more willful erasure of female characters these days than flat out blatant misogyny. in tw fan content from the 00s, i've seen gwen hatefully AND casually called some pretty horrible things that i rarely see fictional or real women called nowadays, simply because standards have changed. hell, one of the comms i linked, the twgenre finders one, there was several entries requesting fic where gwen experiences, like, bodily harm? not in a whump-y way, they actually wanted to recreationally read fic about her getting physically injured and suffering, out of some bizarre sense of malice towards her. simply because she 'gets in the way of janto'. and i can't even fathom that existing nowadays. pretty much everyone outside of weird little 12 year olds knows that's not acceptable. not to mention it's just weird.
interestingly i've also noticed a lottttt of change in how the fandom... reacted to and treated janto as a couple back in the day, versus now. people in 2006 were not normal about gay people. we know fandom's history with fetishizing gay men, and it was even worse in 2006 with an exceptionally rare canon gay couple being received by a jarringly hetero-but-'slash'-obsessed fanbase.
i mean, i don't wanna generalize. i saw a poll recently about how fandom is not mainly composed of straight women, contrary to popular belief, at least anymore, and i guess the question is, was it ever? i have seen a lot of the people involved in fandom in the 00s identify themselves as straight, but was that partially because of the culture of that era? have any of those people since come out as some type of queer? maybe, for some of them, that was them exploring their queerness in a safe environment, when the culture around being gay in real life was a lot different.... the same way modern fandom culture continues to be for those of us who aren't in accepting homes. if they were 20smth year olds in the 2010s/2020s, rather than the 2000s, would they still identify as straight?
not sure. but i've made a habit of going on the profiles of old lj accounts, and i'll sometimes wind up going through the journals and the personal posts of authors i respect, etc etc. a significant amount of mid 00s fic writers were straight women in their 30s - 40s, many married, some with kids. very different demographic to modern fandom. very different climate they lived in vs the one we're in.
(although, bonus note, i also once found a thread of bisexuals in 2006 praising torchwood's depiction of bisexuality, and that made me exceptionally happy. but also maybe a little sad, because torchwood's my personal fav bi rep, too, in 2023, and the fact that we've had nothing better in seventeen years is a bit of a bummer. but i digress.)
anyway, this is all to say, i've seen some insanely fetishy shit about jack and ianto that rubbed me exceptionally wrong. that gross dehumanizing, severely homophobic place where it's like... ahh, ok, so you don't see them as people, you see them as sexy dolls you can mash together. but, ofc, that's how i view it as a bisexual person in 2023 who's been on tumblr far too long. they didn't see any problem with it. they might've even seen it as progressive. how can you be homophobic when you're obsessed with the little gay people on ur screen? but it's the opposite end of the 'homophobes reducing gay ppl down to what they do in their beds' trope, and it comes across as dated and icky now.
i mean, i consume a lot of older media, i know how to turn off my 21st century sensibilities and remind myself things used to be different, but it's honestly an impressive difference. there's some fantastic fics from that era of the fandom, in fact most of my favorite fics are from that era, but i often get quite a bit of culture shock reading things. particularly, i'm always impressed by people in the 2000s, an extremely biphobic era, applying their impressive period-typical 'bisexuals aren't real' beliefs to The Bisexual Show. torchwood's rep's not perfect (again, a product of its era), but i've seen a fantastic amount of gay!ianto and straight!owen, because bisexual men don't exist, obviously, and jack's not bisexual, he's the amazing slutty space man, except he's mostly gay because all that matters is janto. and i don't even really see explorations of gwen or tosh's bisexuality at all, because, again, women who?
i found a comm a while back, i didn't include it on my list because it wasn't torchwood-exclusive and didn't have much content in the tw tag, but it was a lgbtfest, and contained fics about the team and their relationships with their bisexuality, and it was really intriguing to me to see queerness as understood by regular people in 2007/2008, y'know, not by gay writers or activists or films. i have no way of knowing if any of them were speaking from any personal place, but it was just interesting, because none of the fics i read in that comm had that same brand of tone-deaf sex-focused homophobia to them, they were progressive for the time, but it was still apparent to me that they were written by people with a mid to late 00s understanding of being gay, and i do think it's interesting, that substantial difference.
got a bit off topic, but now that i mentioned the initial fandom being overwhelmingly composed of women, i can also add that i think internalized misogyny factored hugely into the fandom's disdain for gwen. the 'strong female' trope doesn't just annoy straight men, it also annoys a lot of women (though not consciously) - not because they're opposed to well-written women, but because society tells us certain things that'd be admirable and complex and sympathetic out of a male hero are unacceptable out of a female one. it's the double standard. jack does some awful shit, but i rarely see him criticized. i've straight up seen fans go "jack's kind of a bastard, but it's ok because he's hot", which is fine in jest, i've joked about shit like that with characters, but it's not so cute when those same people turn around and condemn gwen for her actions. hell, or owen. i've literally seen someone say they'd like owen more if he was more conventionally attractive. like, ok, you're clearly just here for the janto eye candy. you haven't brought any substantial critical thinking skills. pls take ur shallow ass and leave. but back to gwen - she was held to a standard none of the other characters are held to. they picked on her for the stupidest shit. and her worse sin, the infidelity, it's bad, sure, but i've seen countless male characters who cheat on their partners who are beloved by their fandoms. it's just fucking gross. i fucking hate hypocrites.
dude, yknow what?? i've even seen fucking tosh bashing. WHO THE FUCK HATES TOSH????
ok im done. sorry for my babbling. but yeah, i think it's a fascinating thing. i love how humans change and develop with the times and how we can map the changes and how they affect media, and it's fun to observe in fandom because it's there, too, but no one's looking so i get to feel like a little scientist fdskjfds. ok i will cease with the excessive babbling now

suckndfuck. indie private & selective laszlo cravensworth from wwdits, written by grunk. mature content present; frequent sexual content and casual mentions of gore in dark comedic styling. 21+ only.
links. carrd. memes. opens.
blogroll. @bloodebayou, @rattlesnakeshine
affiliates. @sheantipaxos.
my name is grunk, pronouns are he/him, and i'm 31 years old.
NO MINORS. i'll block anyone under 21 who follows. it's just for my own comfort. i'll also block anyone with harry potter muses and/or verses.
i will not follow: minors, those without any kind of rules or info readily available, bigots of any kind (including but not limited to TERFs, anyone guilty of racism, zionism, antisemitism, ableism, ageism, and homophobia), those with inaccessible blogs, and people with generally nasty vibes and attitudes. i'm all about peace and love.
i'm selective and private, meaning i'll only interact with people i'm in a mutual following with, and i won't follow everyone. it might take me a while to follow back.
i don't jive with reply length requirements. i can write a couple of sentences or several long paragraphs, it just depends on what's needed for the reply. i don't expect length to be matched, but i do expect effort to be matched.
i can be slow. if patience with replies isn't your strong suit, we may not be suited to write together. i'm pretty chill about most things, so you can take all the time in the world to get back to me, ic or ooc.
i don't do exclusives, but affiliates are great. i'll affiliate with multiples of the same muse.
please don't write me passive starters. i will not respond to them. if you're not sure what to write, it's all good. you can come talk to me to figure it out, or just don't do it at all. i won't be bothered either way.
feel free to send me all the memes you want. i may not respond to them because i tend to just not do them for a long time or at all if i can't think of anything, but don't take that as a sign that i don't like you or don't want to write with you.
when it comes to shipping, laszlo is always going to be the most in love with nadja. they do have an open relationship, but his wife will ALWAYS be the most important to him. i'm fine doing shippy memes, but i will take a little while getting comfortable doing threads. it takes me a while to get comfortable with writing smut with someone, but i'm open to it. just about anyone is welcome to send kissing and flirtatious memes, i just ask that your muse be physically 30 or older as a personal preference.
laszlo is a big flirt, and isn't always subtle about it, and by that i mean he can be extremely forward and may make explicitly sexual remarks. i'm not trying to force anything; your muse is free to reject him or react in whatever way suits them best. conversely, do NOT use this to try and force me to write smut with you. he can also be a real asshole and that does not reflect my views of you nor your muse.
if you see something on my about page or a headcanon that contradicts information on the wiki or within the series, know that the wiki is very inaccurate and the show often has contradictory details.
there will be mature content consistent to what's shown in the series. most potentially triggering content will be tagged, but i won't tag mentions or descriptions of violence, death, or gore, given how heavily present they are in the series. i'll tag smut if it ever appears, but i won't tag mentions of or references to sex, nor dialogue of a sexual nature. i will tag all images. warnings will be tagged as "usfw--" or "trigger--".
laszlo is a comedic character, so most of my writing will also be comedic. i'm open to doing more serious threads and plots, but they will be highly selective and reserved for muns i've already interacted with extensively, and muses who have a significant and established relationship with laszlo.

Welcome to Vyrthaal Time !!
{{ My name is Stars and this is a roleplay and ask blog for one of my Skyrim OCs, a Last Dragonborn snow elf named Vyrthaal :3 Feel free to interact with him; I do in character posts mostly but I'm more than happy to start literate or chat roleplays. Rules and such under the cut!
Rules !!
I tolerate ZERO HARRASSMENT. Whether it's directed towards me, my friends and mutuals, or random strangers I reblog from or interact with, I will immediately block you for harassment.
NO NSFW. Vyrthaal is a minor. Violence, fighting, and profanity are allowed but nothing sexual, flirtatious, etc. I also won't do any type of shipping with Vyrthaal.
I will NOT (knowingly) interact with bigots of any kind. No homophobes, no transphobes, no queerphobes, no right wingers, no zionists, no racists, you get the idea. If I interact with someone like that without knowing PLEASE tell me and I will block + delete posts from them as needed.
This is a safe space for weirdos and freaks, cringe culture is dead here.
This blog is multiverse, AU, and multifandom friendly. I may take magic anons, but I'm a little picky about them.
I like being DMed about starting roleplays but it isn't necessary. Definitely not necessary if you just want your muse(s) to chat casually with Vyrthaal though :3
If we're in a roleplay I'm fine with starting other threads if we get other ideas! I just ask for patience in my replies; I get worn out from work easily and sometimes the depression is Hitting and it isn't the right time :') I'll do my best to communicate this with any rp partners but if it's been a few days without hearing from me, feel free to check in!
That's about it, if you have any questions feel free to send me an ask or DM. I'm definitely down to exchange discords, especially if you're hoping to do a long-term roleplay (or you just wanna chat off tumblr lmao). Thanks for reading!!
Intro post + ref sheet coming soon !!

o human race, born to fly upward, wherefore at a little wind dost thou so fall?
independent, private & 18+ sylvestre lesage of ffxvi. spoilers present but tagged. beta editor only, iconless temporarily.
please read rules & about before interaction.
[ carrd ] | [ main ]
Rule. 1 . This is an independent, private & adults only rendition of sylvestre lesage from ffxvi. This portrayal will contain mild spoilers - all will be tagged. All work here is penned by me, Han - all graphics, PSDs, code, etc., you see are my own. :)
Rule 2. mun's name is han, im 29 & pretty chilled. this blog is low-activity because i work full-time & am usually preoccupied by various things. i like openness and communication but can be super slow with messages. please never take my silence as an insult or anything; always feel free to message me and i will get back. discord is available on request, ims will be slower to be answered.
Rule. 3. i do suffer with migraines so would prefer text to be minimally edited; i don't mind small-text or how you curate your experience at all and you don't, by any means, have to change things for me but i am less likely to be drawn to heavily edited text, purely due to the headaches. i hope that this makes sense.
Rule 4. as stated, everything made on this blog is made by myself - i do have a commission blog where i create things for people - that can be found at beargraphs. my other main blog is cwarscars & a multimuse @ mencnfire.
Rule. 5. i am open to shipping and love all kinds of shipping from romantic to friends to enemies, comrades, colleagues, forced friends, rivals~ i love exploring them all! however, i don't like being forced into shipping and i do ask for a degree of realism when it comes to shipping. i write sylvestre as (of course) married, but a man with a wandering eye! i am entirely open to shipping romantically with him.
Rule 6. i enjoy plotted threads the most but also enjoy threads made from ask/ rp memes just fine too! sometimes i'll post little cracky things on the dash. if it's tagged 'open', anybody can reply~
Rule 7. i am open to darker themes & do not shy away from the darker sides of fiction. on this blog - themes of violence, sex, coloniolism & general adult themes will be present. if you are easily upset or prefer to avoid darker content - it's best you don't follow. it should go without saying but i will not write sexual scenarios with minor muns/muses.
Rule 8. you can approach me whenever for whatever! im very laid-back and generally quite chilled out; i like a nice, casual zone. you wanna send an ask? do it. you wanna write with me? go for it. if i don't follow you back it's more than likely you don't have a rules page or you don't cut posts / post excessively - please understand. you're more than welcome to approach me if you wanna chat or rp.
Rule 9. do not block evade or pretend to be someone else on another blog when talking / communicating with me. it's concerning behaviour and i don't like it; if you want to talk to me after a block, do so on anon - i'll unblock and speak to you. but no block evading, that unsettles me.
Rule 10. finally - just to stress again - i am low activity; i usually have a million and one things going on (as well as a bunch of blogs) - never take my silence personally; thank you~.

@ever-winter asked:
"Aren't the stars pretty?" - Columbina
"Generally they are...When the vista isn't somehow uncomfortably false. I don't mind looking at a painting of the night sky or the vast reaches of the space that makes it, but it's too static for my liking." Even if the world of Teyvat had a lot of beautiful sights, the sky always made Charlotte feel the most uncomfortable. She knew it was closed off, and it bothered her to look up at it too long.
"...Do you have an interest in the stars? In Astrology?" She couldn't remember if astrology was a study or not in Teyvat, so she knew asking it might be a gamble. Still, she felt it was better to make some conversation here.
She did like talking about the stars, after all.

KNOWING YOUR PARTNER WELL CAN POTENTIALLY MAKE WRITING TOGETHER A LOT EASIER. REPOST.
name. Sera/Seraphina
pronouns. she/her
preference of communication. Discord if I've given it to you, otherwise tumblr IMs on my Ashley blog (virmireisms) as that's connected to my phone. It doesn't matter if you're messaging me on Ashley about my other blogs, it's just easier to reach me on that blog and keeps it better organized for me.
name of muse. Miranda (Natalya) Lawson
rp experience / how long. I have been RPing since 2005/2006 or so, but only on Tumblr since early 2021. Prior to that I have been on other social media & primarily spent many of my years around the world of forum RP. I've been around a while, to say the least.
best experience. I don’t think I specifically have any “best” experiences. I’ve had a mix of good and bad. I think so far the best I’ve had though is much of the welcoming and encouragement I’ve got in this verse from people & even from my mutuals that know nothing about ME who have wanted to write and interact. ME is a wonderfully rich universe with a lot of potential & I'm always happy to share my love of it with others.
rp pet peeves / dealbreakers. People who don’t fill out my interest tracker and don’t bother to interact in other ways. My rules are pretty clear, and if you’ve no intention of filling it out, I won’t assume you’re interested in interacting and will likely eventually break the mutual, especially if you followed me first; I assume that by following or following me back, you’ve read my rules and actively chose to ignore it, and that is not on me. It's in my rules for a reason, & anyone who has filled it out can attest that I'm pretty quick to interact & reciprocate once it's filled out!
Multi-spaced text is another; it causes eyestrain and gives me headaches to read. My job requires me to be on a computer and extra spaced text forces my eyes to work harder to move from word to word, and my eyesight is bad enough as it is. Also, too excessively styled text is distracting from the writing for me, so I tend to avoid it. Lastly… prose that intentionally breaks grammatical rules or uses way too many archaic words is a no for me. If I need a dictionary for half the words in your sentence as a very fluent native English speaker, I'm sorry... but no.
fluff, angst, or smut. Angst, smut, and fluff kind of in that order. I get times where fluff is great, but I find that it kind of peters out after a while and begins to feel repetitive. Angst is great as long as it’s not repetitive; there needs to be a break in the clouds, so to speak, when you’re writing it. 100% angst all the time is exhausting, and maintaining the needed ebb and flow of it is what keeps it interesting and engaging. Smut is smut, I’m neither great nor experienced at it but I don’t mind it; I don’t write extensively kinky things with muses & do prefer there to be some sort of basis or plot behind the idea, at least to set the scene, which is why I usually only write smut with the intent of or inclusion of a ship (even if that ship starts with a casual encounter/one night stand/FWB scenario). Smut for the sake of smut is boring to me.
plots or memes. I’d say plots, but I’m not against memes. That being said, while memes can be great to start something, I do eventually prefer to transition to some kind of plot to work with around them. I consider all memes to be options to start a thread, so they’re always welcome to be continued as one.
long or short replies. Long replies are preferable. I can handle short replies for a little while, but short threads don't often go anywhere. They're okay to feel things out, especially with a new partner, but I do greatly prefer longer threads. 3-5 paragraphs is comfortable for me, & I'm capable of keeping up with longer. I never expect partners to match exactly how much I write as it depends on the thread, but as long as the minimum is within 2-4, I'm usually fine with it. It really depends on the writing sometimes, as I’ve had partners who could come back with 3 paragraphs and I can work with that, but some who did more than that and gave me barely anything. It’s not so much about the length as it is the content of the writing and what you include—body language, habits, and facial expressions of muses, to me, are very key things to include in your prose & are what really set the scene for the interaction.
best time to write. Late at night, honestly. I'm very much a night owl, so even when I work at 8am I'm usually up much earlier. Whether I wake up at 7:30am or 11am, I’m usually up til 2am anyways.
are you like your muse. Not really. I'm not nearly the kind of flirt that Miranda is, nor do I have her level of confidence. I'm probably more like a few of my other muses (such as Ashley) compared to Miranda, but even then there's still some differences. The only thing Miranda and I do share is a preference for tea over coffee. I think Miranda would drink coffee but prefers tea, whereas I will not drink 99% of coffee. The closest I might get is an iced capp or a really sweetened iced coffee.

♢ canon muses ♢ original muses ♢ open starters ♢ starter calls ♢ prompts ♢ wishlist ♢
♢ drafts ♢
queued:
⭒ bucky, natasha
⭒ steve, pepper
drafted:
⭒ brock, elektra, gwen, johnny, rhodey, theo
♢ rules ♢
♢ safety ♢
⭒ age: This is a 25+ blog with mature themes. Please be 18+ to interact. By following or interacting, you confirm that you are 18+. I don't write with blogs that don't have an age range and at least a basic list of rules posted.
⭒ stress: My primary rule is don't make this stressful. This is a casual hobby that I do for fun, and I don't tolerate entitlement or possessiveness. Nobody in the RPC owes anyone anything aside from basic decency. You manage your expectations, jealousy, and mental health, and I'll manage mine.
⭒ nsfw: There will be written adult content here, including both smut and horror, and I don't mind if smut is all you're here for. I have a list of banned and accepted kinks here. If you're not comfortable, I'm happy just to imply it and move on.
⭒ themes: My blogs are emphatically anti-censorship, and there will be darker-themed threads as agreed upon by my writing partners. I respect your right to write (or not write) whatever you want, and I expect the same. If I don't want to see it, I'll blacklist, unfollow, or block like an adult who's capable of monitoring her own media intake. Please give me the same courtesy and don't try to police my content.
♢ preferences ♢
⭒ connections: This is a multi-muse, multi-ship, multi-verse blog with no crossover among threads unless agreed upon by the writers. I'm happy to write with canon, AU, OCs, fandom crossovers, duplicates, etc.
⭒ canons/ocs: If you only write canons, I don't insist that you write with my OCs, or vice versa. However, unless you have active threads with my OCs, I'm currently not accepting OC interactions on my canon muses. I can accept that some blogs are canon only or OC only, but I can't accept the hypocrisy of OC writers who won't write with OCs. I'm open to crossovers; just don't use me for my canons.
⭒ shipping: Some of my muses are easier to ship with than others, but plotting can do a lot to establish chemistry, and we can start a thread with a ship in mind. It's fine if you just like the faceclaim, but please also take an interest in how I write the muse. Many of my canon muses have OTPs listed in their intros, so feel free to assume an established ship on those.
⭒ exclusives: I do not do mains, exclusives, or affiliates. If you choose to tag me as one, it's entirely up to you how you run your blog. Just understand that I will not be tagging back or managing my blogs any differently. Please don't treat me like a main and rely on me for all your connections. It will only stress me out and put me off interacting.
⭒ length, pov, tense: I don't do one-liners. I prefer at minimum a solid paragraph (100+ words) or two, but I'll match energy. If you give me shorter replies, expect to get them back. I write in third person limited/past tense, but you do you.
⭒ formatting: I don't care how you format, but my limit is cutting posts and using gifs or icons when I can. I typically drop gifs and use read mores for smut, but you do you. I'm perfectly happy to get back text-only replies. Up front, I don't move asks to a new thread (unless it's sent to my main for a side blog) and will not think of it, but feel free to move them if it bothers you.
⭒ faceclaims: I prefer not to write with any animated/illustrated/cartoon muses, though I'll make an exception for some comics. I don't participate in cancel culture, so my only blacklisted faceclaims are those that have been convicted of violent crimes. If I write several muses with the same faceclaim, I'm open to writing others if I'm familiar with their media or willing to put it on my watchlist, so you're welcome to ask. (e.g., I write Bucky Barnes, Carter Baizen, and Chris Beck, so I'm open to writing Nick Fowler or Steve Kemp if there's interest.)
⭒ blacklist: I prefer not to play against real-life/celebrity muses, Thanos, Johann Schmidt, Peggy Carter, Sharon Carter, John Walker, or the Darkling. It's just a personal preference, and I'm not interested in developing my muses with them. I also struggle with most historical and high fantasy settings, and I prefer to write in my established fandoms or adjacent (Marvel, paranormal, and horror always welcome). I may not follow back if I'm not familiar with your source material. While I will write with underage muses in parent-verses, I'm not comfortable writing my villains/villain verses with them except in very selective cases.
♢ interacting ♢
⭒ selectivity: I'm semi-selective for my own sanity, but non-mutuals are welcome to interact to see if our writing vibes. It's nothing personal, but sometimes writing styles don't match or characters don't connect. I won't force myself to keep a thread if I’m not feeling it, so please feel free to do the same.
⭒ interactions: There's no expiration on open starters, prompts, or starter calls. I default on main verses for memes, but you’re welcome to request another from my list. Prompts are easy para starters, so you're welcome to respond to those. However, if we already have threads going, I may drop older/lower muse ones to keep my reply count manageable and so we can focus on developing what we have.
⭒ messaging: I try to respond to DMs that are about plot/rp, but I may not respond to personal ones. My social battery isn't always up to it, and I'm not here to share about my life.
⭒ response time: If you're not comfortable waiting on replies, I'm not the partner for you, and I don't follow blogs with a posted time limit. I write a lot of threads on a lot of muses with a lot of writers, and I aim for quality over speed. It may take me weeks or months to get back to something, and I would rather work on developing the same threads than start fresh every time. Don't pressure me for replies, and don't feel rushed getting things back to me. I don't have a time limit on when it's been too long to answer a thread.
⭒ queue: Replies run entirely on queue based on muse or the order that I get them, and I can be selective at times. Steve and Bucky's queues are typically a month out at minimum, and my other muses come and go as they please. I tend to answer askbox memes first and then queue the rest to one a day for my own sanity.
⭒ blocking: I'm not mutuals only. I don't keep close track of my followers, especially on the sideblogs. I may not notice immediately (or at all) if you unfollow or softblock me. If you really want to cut contact, your best option is to hardblock me and any sideblogs you were interacting with. I won't ask questions.
⭒ unfollows: A chaotic dash stresses me out, and I periodically unfollow people I'm not actively writing or plotting with. It's not personal, and it doesn't mean we can never write together again. If your blog moves really fast, you’re posting a lot of things I don’t want to see but can’t easily blacklist, or our interactions start to feel one-sided, I may write with you without following back.
⭒ match energy: Roleplay is a give and take activity. If I drop threads or take a hiatus, it's my responsibility to get things going again. If you drop threads or take a hiatus, the responsibility is yours. If I write you things that go unanswered, I'm not likely to respond to future requests. You're welcome to answer something old, respond to a meme/open starter, or otherwise communicate to get things going again. I don't mind that you drop things, just that we're both putting in the effort.

Common Email Mistakes to Avoid
You must prevent basic, typical email organization mistakes if you want to keep up your professional image. Otherwise, you run the danger of people not respecting you or having faith in you and your company. Email mistakes might include sending the wrong recipient the message or using misspelled language. However, you may simply avoid email mistakes and follow email etiquette rules once you have trained yourself to always use correct email etiquette. Let's talk about some of the worst email mistakes you should definitely avoid in email comunication:
Too formal or informal. Avoid writing extremely formal emails if your interactions with the recipient are not overly formal in person. Don't be too casual with someone you haven't met yet until you get to know them.
Not using greetings or closing. When sending a message, you should never forget to introduce yourself. This makes sure that you come across as approachable and simple to talk to about any issues. A good initial impression is formed by using welcomes and closings; otherwise, you could come off as rather demanding.
Lacking attention to detail. By not using correct grammar, spelling, punctuation or use of capitals, your emails can seem lazy, and as if you're uninterested.
Personal information. People want to read and respond to emails quickly to ensure they're being productive. Keep your emails clear, concise and to the point.
Update the subject line. It is an important part of a message. By changing the subject line readers can correctly search and respond to emails.
Reply-all. Within an email thread, it's not always necessary to respond to every recipient. When you receive a notification that doesn't apply to you, it can be rather frustrating. These emails consume time and clog up mailboxes.
Not proofreading. Not proofreading is one of many common email mistakes you can avoid. Something many people don’t bother with when really, you can change a lot of mistakes before hitting send!
Long emails. People rarely have too much free time to read long letters unless it is really something important, and the recipient was expecting a long email. Otherwise, you are wasting time, and you may not get a reply.
Forgetting attachments. Re-sending a message with the attachments you overlooked is awkward. The reader can become confused if you don't realize that you've forgotten, which is the best-case scenario. Attachments should always be added first, and their accuracy checked. Though you also can undo the email you've sent and add attachment.
Personal email address. If you want to maintain your professionalism, always use your business mail account. Avoid email mistakes like this by creating a professional mail account to communicate formally.
Talking about email correspondence and productivity in the workplace, it will be right to mention email organizer which is called Clean Email. Once your inbox is managed correctly, you can get more work done and feel less stress!
