sobbing at Daisy
please write more about Zamasu and his little princess ;o;
I will! I actually owe fan fiction requests from like 3 months ago.
Maybe this will interest you, anon.
I will eventually write about North Kai Zamasu:
-Some shots of his childhood here and there.
-How he lived his life. With Daisy.
-Explain what regular kais do while writing his life as a north kai.
-Explain the differences between pain fruit shinjins and golden fruit shinjins. How it gave him internal struggles.
-Angst. I headcanon that Zamasu has NPD and autism. In one part, I will write conflict.
-The day where things brighten up greatly; the day where he's promoted to being an apprentice to his Supreme Kai. Something he couldn't believe at first because he hatched from the plain fruit
-The final bits will also foreshadow the future or something
It sounds like something really big but it's like... prolly just done within a few days LOL... i just need the mood for this but if it's done, it's done. I will also design U10's South kai, East kai, and West kai.
#☆)) ooc#☆)) askbox#zamasu#fused zamasu#goku black#north kai zamasu#north kai#headcanons#lore#(Lots of implied-canon here. At least this fanfic is supposed to lean to canon.#However... Solune. Beadle. and Rubis are in this fan fic as well. They are his childhood friends.)

Liked for a Starter ♥ (@kaioshin-kai)
"Atticus, right?" He asked while he poured a cup of tea for himself.
"Khai isn't around right now. But I'll happily assist you if you need anything."
-*Hearing a voice he didn't recognize he immediately stopped reading the book in his hand. He closed the book before placing it down on the table in-front of him. Atticus then proceeded to stand up and turn around so he could put a face with the voice he just heard. As he stared at dark blue-ish/grey kai he couldn't help but be confused-? who was he and how did he exactly find him? let alone know his name?? he crossed his arms as he narrowed his gaze*-
" 𝐖𝐡𝐨 𝐞𝐱𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐥𝐲 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐲𝐨𝐮? 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐬𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐝𝐥𝐲 𝐰𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐝𝐢𝐝 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐞 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦. 𝐢'𝐯𝐞 𝐧𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝐬𝐞𝐞𝐧 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐛𝐞𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐥𝐞𝐭 𝐚𝐥𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐝 𝐨𝐟 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐰𝐡𝐢𝐜𝐡 𝐦𝐚𝐤𝐞𝐬 𝐢𝐭 𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐧 𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐡𝐨𝐰 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐤𝐧𝐨𝐰 𝐦𝐞 𝐨𝐧 𝐚 𝐟𝐢𝐫𝐬𝐭 𝐧𝐚𝐦𝐞 𝐛𝐚𝐬𝐢𝐬? "
-*Atticus was on guard. If this was some intruder he wouldn't be afraid to make the first swing*-

( @liliaciae )
Zamasu was at the park in Conton City, perhaps Zamasu wanted to catch some fresh air? Maybe he felt a bit… lonely?
Anato, Eyre, and Khai were seen sitting at a table, drinking tea with delicious looking treats. As they are talking with their attendants on their side, Rubis, Beadle, and Solune.
They all seem to have a good time and a close bond.
Khai was the first one to notice Zamasu… There was a very uncomfortable eye contact. Khai would quickly turn his head away from him, pretending that he didn't notice Zamasu.
His ears lowered slightly as he frowned.... debating on whether he should even try to approach them... Judging by the look Khai gave, he had a feeling it wouldn't be well recieved... but still...
The shinjin found himself walking over unconsciously- that need for companionship... a friend... it overwhelmed the young ex apprentice's common sense.
' They're going to chase you off or leave- they don't want to be near you- you know this! Why are you setting yourself up for rejection?!' His thoughts screamed. 'After the stunt with your future counterpart- they all know how you truly act and feel!!' Despite the thoughts... he still attempted.
' ' Er... hello....it's been a while....' '
He cursed mentally as his voice cracked from anxiety- his ears staying low to show he meant no harm.
#ic answers#zamasu needs a hug#he deserves it tho#you cant just have thoughts on killing people exposed and not expect consequences#liliaciae#my heaaart ;;

I'm DELIGHTED with Neil's nerdassery bringing us "Astarion's guilty celebrity crush being Drizzt Do'Urden".
Even if I take Forgotten Realms as a loose set of suggestions rather than play by canon because I have issues as a writer and genuine narrative dislike of the "inherent" bad race (a matter for another post, if at all) Solune is a Luxe of House Mizzrym which by the time of BG3 is an extremely prominent, high ranking nobility house. I picked this on purpose. Drizzt is a renegade from a similarly ranked noble house. He's younger than Solune, but is probably around the age of one of their younger sisters (Solune is the eldest of six, 4 younger sisters and 1 brother).
There is absolutely no way Drizzt and Solune would not know each other. They're both from Menzobenzarran, they KNOW each other personally, even if for the purposes of my gameplay my Mizzrym are not the canon Mizzrym but rather take they place, they just would and the absolute Hatred that Solune would have for Drizzt is too funny to not keep this.
Astarion compares them once, fully unaware of the history there, and Solune's faces disfigures. Never do that again, nice joke though, but don't. Wait, what do you mean it's not a joke, they'd ask Astarion and that's how they find out their boytoy and second husband (second to their wife, who's alive and well and adores them both btw) has a a celebrity crush. This is his fatal flaw in their opinion, btw
Honestly? If Astarion ever wants to be petty bc he's annoyed at them for some ultimately non serious reason, he should bring out his secret weapon. Solune's eye is gonna start twitching and I think it's funny

RP can be damn WILD sometimes. This whole, entire, draw spawned from the GUN that was whipped out. I NEVER KNEW SOLUN HAD A GUN....
A brief event of shenanigans, when a curse that was on my troll boi was redirected onto the unfortunate man on the table. He came to take it back, but promptly had a gun pointed at his face by Solun :)
Poor Vox and Kelrion in the back, just caught up in the chaos.
...
I should not draw multiple characters in one single draw.....for a while....

Saw that he was dying slowly of an incurable disease that put him in unspeakable agony. And while everyone else told Garro to just mercy-kill him, Garro said "No—the god I just started worshipping yesterday will save him. God will save him. We just have to have faith and a miracle will happen."
So basically, made an atheist—a young one, Solun was barely past being a scout, and he's portrayed as an enthusiastic kid throughout the novel—suffer in order to show off how pious he was in his new religon.
Needless to say, a god did eventually intervene, and it was not the Emperor.
No but honestly, put yourself in Dorn’s shoes. You are tired and overworked as fuck,l. Everyone is an idiot, and this ugly ass Death Guard no one likes shows up and screams about some fucked up conspiracy that your favourite brother is a traitor.
What would you do?
#Solun didn't even want to BE there#He was neutral in the rebellion!#He was dragged into this by Garro because Garro thought he knew better than everyone else

Guess I can get back to the planned stuff + Asks stuff this weekend bc I'm burned up with family bs and said "no".
Anyway. Developing my kai OC's after negative stuff. Will work on SL's.
Solune and Beadle are definitely the bad guys in Zamasu's Redemption story and will play the bully role.
Rubis is kind but still part of the toxic friend trio.
Solune has a good side despite being worse than what Zamasu was in terms of how he acted before he betrayed Gowasu.
Beadle kinda goes with it, it makes him seem double-faced. Perhaps, he is. He just kind of have a follower-mentality, Solune is just the dominant friend, and Beadle kinda goes with it.
Rubis seems innocent and he is... but he has a darker side: Keeping his grief and fears to himself. Even though it doesn't seem like it at all because he's so popular, always making selfies, he wins beauty pageants and is deemed one of the most beautiful women... as a genderfluid guy! A lot of people don't realize that he's mostly male-identifying (reminder that genderfluid is still a trans identity!)
What darkness is Rubis hiding? He seems to know more than people think... perhaps he has encountered some dangers? Who knows! lol I'm still working on this & not sure where I'm going, but it's the most important that people shouldn't think him as a weakling just bc he's more sensitive!!
Nnnnnot sure if I should make a blog for the trio or not... Bc their relation to their masters is most important.
More random lore:
Universe 11: Solune and Khai are very agreeing and get a long very well, Khai endorses Solune so much that he bats a blind eye to Solune's sadistic tics; this can be seen that Khai condoned the erasure of other universes. He believes in sacrifice and it's why he meshes well with Solune.
Solune is extremely intelligent and also assists Khai in his technology.
He passed the tests, proving his great potential. He doesn't seem to have much flaw. Khai considers Solune as "perfect".
Some kais even wonder why Solune isn't Eyre's attendant because he's so good with computers... Though, Belmod warned Khai not to focus on Solune's powers alone and would often remind Khai that Solune is only an attendant, not his replacement.
Toppo claims that he has "bad feelings" around Solune. However, Khai tells Toppo off not to say it ever again. Belmod keeps his eyes open. Other destroyer gods don't seem too keen with Solune. Perhaps they have a better intuition? Who knows.
Universe 3: Beadle is a kai that loves to work with his hands. Despite being quite big and beefy; he's actually the youngest of the 3! He's just a big beefy boy, kinda ignorant and even guillible sometimes. If he wasn't a kai with all that magic stuff, he would've been a construction worker kinda guy. Beadle is good with building big robots, he still has to learn a lot w/ programming and such but Eyre loves how much of a good job Beadle does with mechanics. Beadle helps Mule with maintaining Mosco.
Beadle doesn't really like to think too hard outside the stuff he's good at. Being good at lifting heavy things and engineering. Everything Eyre says is the only good opinion.... and that kind of strokes Eyre's ego a bit too much!
Beadle likes Eyre and Mule's favorite anime as well: Gundam! He passed the test while not even finishing it... he said that he likes Gundam too and Mule and Eyre agreed that Beadle is good enough.
Campari was a little confused. Despite being a supreme kai attendant, Beadle is a can't cook... but Campari wrote down some dishes Eyre and Mule like and Beadle made a robot that can cook. Despite Campari giving Eyre The Look... Eyre said "I could have built that if I wasn't so busy!!* Thank goodness Beadle made Chef-kun."
(*Lies.)
Universe 1: Rubis kind of randomly picked Anato, just good vibes and an instant 'click' while Rubis came to apply...
Rubis wanted to assist a Supreme Kai that would also try to help him overcome his weaknesses, someone a little strict in an encouraging, someone who can genuinely help him with martial arts and give life advice. Something meaningful. Perhaps mutual growth.
Anato accepted Rubis without any tests. He likes the energy of this mutual exchange. He would describe Rubis as "very sensitive, resourceful, always admitting his mistakes, deep down very pure with good intent, and very funny once he warms up." as Anato also claimed that he has never laughed so much before Rubis was around as Rubis would always bring tea and freshly bake sweet treats... always amused by Rubis' punny jokes.

valley of kings, an interactive novel
the sun hasn’t set in days; it’s fallen each night – crashcrashcrashing down into the horizon. they say with darkness comes demons and perhaps that’s true – but whether the demons are you or him or her it never really matters anymore. there are bigger badder demons that feed on the blood of infidels and innocents a like. a triad of big bads claim the land street by street by street and all you can do is watch as they rip out your heart in half a breath and say you’ve been a good little boy in the next half.
careful my dear, you’re a damsel tied to the tracks, a deer in the lights of a car, a girl’s last smile as she’s snuffed out by the one she trusts the most – never trust a snake in a pup’s clothes
if one doesn’t catch you, there are two more behind the first – never ending, spawning and whipping through the land like an infection. you can’t hide, you can’t resist, you can’t survive this war of hearts as battle lines are drawn and trenches are dug. who do you become, in a war of gods?
september 2, 1859, solar cycle 10.
a swan song erupts: the baying of dogs, the crying of children, the shattering of society. one thousand colors drip across the starry sky, waltzing like rivulets of water running down a window. a girl of no more than thirteen watches, eyes glimmering and wide. she doesn’t see the man behind her, doesn’t see the way the mallet crashes through the air. her swan song is a lullaby in a single syllable - “oh!” - in tandem with a sigh like satin. it ends, like most things do, with a body crumpled on the floor and greed scrabbling at anything it could.
this is what a dying world sounds like.
it is, after all, the end of the world.
it came without warning - or if it did, there was no one listening. dawn comes on the third of september, but society does not follow. in time, perhaps, the world will recover. nature giveth, and nature taketh away - and oh, she is hungry. as the world burns, she gathers the tithes owed to her in burgundy and bone. it will be centuries before her hunger is sated.
eras pass, and civilizations rise and fall. nature swells in contentment, languid and quiet. the year is 4739 AC, the season is summer.
it begins as most things do: words spoken without meaning, promises made behind closed doors. a pawn, selected with purpose and given the tools of the trade. information is freely given, and then the pawn and their companions set forth to win a war of gods.
enter the commander, stage left. bequeathed a ragged crew that may or may not get along, the commander must go beyond mortal ken and tip the scales to win the war.
LYSANDER MYNAEVE [he/him, 31, bisexual man]
lysander hails from the broceliande forest, from a clan of elven druids. he’s tail, with tawny skin and eyes the color of freshly tilled soil. typically, his silver hair is kept braided or tied in a bun. he’s a gentle giant, hovering somewhere north of six feet - you aren’t quite sure. his presence is a steadying, soothing one. he cannot abide cruelty, even cruelty born of necessity. his magic allows him to shift into a variety of forest creatures, as well as a fair amount of plant-sympathetic magic. commanders of any gender identity can romance lysander.
KESTREL VYRAN [they/them, 28, demisexual nonbinary]
kestrel was born and raised in the temple of solun in the capital. their laughter is like bottled sunlight, warm and comforting - much like their ability to conjure and manipulate sunlight. everything about them draws people in, from their softness to the way they always smell like home. deep brown skin, with eyes to match, they have long hair that falls in braids decorated with golden clasps. golden heart, golden dress. commanders of any gender can romance kestrel.
CAPTAIN BRISEIS MAC LIR [she/her, 26, homosexual woman]
what briseis lacks in propriety, she makes up for with her rather underhanded talents. she’s quick on her feet and twice as fast with her hands - some would call her a thief, but she prefers liberator of imprisioned items. her skin is deeply tanned and freckled, a product of her time spent as a privateer. she has shoulder-length black hair that is usually wildly curling, as loose and unmoored as she herself prefers to be. like lysander, she has the pointed ears that indicate elven heritage, and her magic allows her moderate control of water. commanders that identify as female or nonbinary may romance briseis.
HONORABLE LADY EOWYN BLACK [she/her, 29, pansexual woman]
if a fallen star were made human, they might look something like eowyn black: pale blonde hair spills down her back in loose waves, eyes that are such a pale blue they are nearly gray, and delicate rosy skin of someone who doesn’t spend much time under the sun. she is soft-spoken, but nobles and commoners alike often find themselves hanging on her every word. her grace is her power, having been born bereft of any magical ability. the second daughter of a local duke, she brings clout and well-needed resources to the group. commanders of any gender identity may romance eowyn.
HOLLIS GERMAINE [they/them, 28, pansexual nonbinary]
hollis is an unusual sort - rather distant, even if they’ve known folks for a long period of time. they are a healer, though occasionally patients die of mysterious causes, and you’re left wondering who they truly serve. a shock of copper hair is kept trimmed in a neat undercut, emphasizing their cheekbones on an already willowy build. freckles dot across their pale skin, and their blue eyes often force them to wear brimmed hats during the day. as a healer, hollis is a valuable addition, and their expertise in alchemy is no hindrance. commanders of any gender identity may romance hollis.
SIR TEDDREN KEARNEY [he/him, 25, homosexual man]
teddy is quiet and gruff when you first meet him. he doesn’t speak much about his past life, but you get the hint that it wasn’t happy. still, he carries a title and you can’t help but wonder why? he has dusty brown hair and eyes, with clear skin that’s just starting to become tanned. as far as you know, he has no magic of his own - only immense skill with the sword strapped around his waist. once he has spent considerable time with you, he is as loyal as they come, and a few may even catch him cracking jokes quietly in the background. commanders that identify as male or nonbinary may romance teddy.
TO BE RELEASED.
links to spotify and pinterest can be found in the navigation side bar. character tags for the cast are simply their first name (briseis, lysander, etc). any updates will be tagged #update. please feel free to send in asks about lore/characters/reacts, however i reserve the right to not answer any ask that makes me uncomfortable. this blog and if are 18+ and will remain that way. this will feature a fully customizable mc - gender, pronouns, sexual identity, combat style, and more!
my name is rose, and i use she/her pronouns. vok will be written in twine, and i track #valleyofkingsif

comics comints 1: The Incal
I’ve been reading a whole buncha comics, let’s talk about them on Tumblr!
In fact I’m gonna talk about a bandes desinée, a manhua, a manga and an american comic book. I need to think of more countries that have comics to read! Anyway since I have a bunch of comics to talk about let’s split it up a bit for the sake of your dash.
First up, The Incal!
The Incal (L’Incal)
(Alexandro Jodorowsky and Jean “Moebius” Giraud, 1981-88, trans.Sasha Watson & Justin Kelly)
Oh Moebius. You know I think he’s the shit [c.f. Animation Night 71], so I won’t spent too long here talking about how great old Jean was.
The Incal is one of Moeb’s best known comics, a collaboration with infamous alchemy freak Alejandro Jodorowsky [Toku Tuesday 27]. The backstory of this comic is basically, after Jodo’s Dune collapsed - leaving Moebius, O’bannon and Giger to go work on Alien - he went to comic books, teaming up with Moebius to make this comic. Knowing a bit about Jodo’s whole deal, and watching The Holy Mountain in particular, definitely made it easier to figure out what the Incal is getting at.
Well, sorta understand. I would probably need to crack open some grimoires to get the whole thing. But I can think like, oh, this is the bit where they were on the mountain getting confronted by their fears.
On one level it’s pretty straightforward! It’s a space opera in which hapless private investigator John DiFool (Tarot symbolism!) gets caught up in a big cosmic conflict to stop d-d-d-d-d-darkness from eating all the stars in the universe. On another it’s a kind of symbolic occult narrative where just about everyone is a tarot card and a lot of stuff that happens you just have to say, ok, alchemy is happening.
Apparently it was first conceived in a lucid dream in which Jodo got the image of two pyramids. He says he would conceive the story in a trance and dictate it to Moebius, who would sketch it out in real time. So it’s not quite so simple as ‘Jodo script, Moebius art’, but directly a collaboration between the two. Jodo is full of praise for Moebius’s subconscious, which he calls a ‘lake of colour’. They worked in this way for about ten years.
The result is... a curious tone. It’s actually generally pretty upbeat and funny, otherwise ‘alchemical acid trip’. Of course, Moeb handles everything with perfect aplomb. This is just the second page. I was lucky enough to be given a paper copy by a friend in America, and read it on the plane back, and it’s a treat to just hold this thing in your hands.
For (I can only assume) alchemical reasons, John Difool has no idea what’s going on and just kind of bumbles his way through the plot, chivvied along by the Incal itself, his pet parrot..lemon...thing, and the various characters who join him along the way like square-jawed Metabaron (who Jodo would later expand into a whole line of hypermasculine Metabarons who replicate through child abuse) and austere sexy space princess sisters Solune and Aminah. Before long they’re doing stuff like sending Difool to do various missions to advance their plan while the rest of them have shrunk their spaceship down to a tiny enough size to fit in his blood vessel.
Meanwhile, there’s a whole bunch of stuff kicking off in the background: a growing planetary rebellion, a decadent noble who adopts a series of bodies, the schemes of the Technos... which tie back in to the main story sooner or later. Big sweeping space opera stuff.
This being a Jodo story there’s a kind of weirdly mechanical hetero relationship in there, though he definitely puts some fun twists on it, like the time that a space bug alien impersonates John DiFool’s love interest (for diplomatic reasons), leading down the line to an entire planet of John DiFool clones. That’s kind of what it’s like: there’s never a huge amount of tension, you’re just along for the ride to see what wild turn the story will take next.
(this isn’t the nicest scan, unfortunately. it looks better on paper! anyway sometimes your page is a spider.)
There’s a curiosity to me in that, while the story involves a lot of rebellion, it’s a rebellion to restore the rightful Emporess (a Perfect Androgyne in the form of conventionally male and female bodies kind of sutured together - the Metabarons series goes a lot more into the galaxy’s iteration through a series of Perfect Androgyne candidates) to power against the schemes of the Technopope.
All in all, it’s easy to see why this comic is so influential. Of Moeb’s work, it’s definitely one of the ones that most ‘actually has a plot’, and Jodo doesn’t do the whole rape fixation thing (not that the weird deranged sex shit doesn’t add a lot to Jodo’s works lmao); it’s just fun.
It’s interesting looking at Moebius’s drawing from a more technical eye. He’s very good at balancing areas of detail with space. Panelling is generally conservative, just boxes of various sizes, and occasionally big full page spash panels - though the composition within each panel is exquisite. And what really blows me away is the amount of complex backgrounds and crowd shots.
Moeb knows exactly how to compose a big geometric form; he can supply his characters a great variety of faces and physiques. And there are so many distinctive outfits and character designs. It’s interesting to see how he shifts the art style to fit the tone of the scene; in a comedic scene John’s nose will be long and pointy, in a dramatic scene his face will get angular and accentuate the cheekbones even more, as in this scene where John meets Animah and spontaneously feels motivated to give her the Black Incal (check out the colouring as well):
In the writing side, Jodo remarks in one of the commentary interludes that he wished to have characters who change a lot over the course of the story, reflecting his beliefs about the mutability of people (unlike such infamously static characters as... Shakespeare’s Hamlet. oh, jodo...). For this reason, he writes...
John Difool, for instance, never stops changing. He metamorphoses, progresses, sometimes regresses. In the second volume, he becomes handsome. Then, he loses his beauty as he loses the Incal, but something different remains inside him. He’ll never be the same after that. In the beginning, John Difool is introduced as someone who is not too bright, but he gradually becomes wiser. He is never a totally moral character, he always remains subject to temptation. He might steal or betray, or do anything, because he is human. His energy is sometimes positive, other times negative, but is never properly channeled. In a way he never benefits from his own energy, because he uses it poorly, and usually for the good of others.
This is true so far as it goes, but honestly I don’t feel like any of the characters in The Incal change all that much - it’s not really about that kind of intense character study, they’re all much larger than life. A lot of the changes that do happen feel like they’re more driven by fate or cosmic forces than internal development of the character. And that isn’t a problem, by any means - it might well bog down this kind of comic. It surprises me though that Jodo writes something like this when to me, the characters seem much more like icons or symbols.
John's role is to be the everyman viewpoint character, a role he fulfills well; at one point he gets split into four elemental mini-selves with different emotional valences but this feels more symbolic of like, the forces of work in all of humanity than like, specificity as a character. Jodo is right to say that he rarely ever acts of his own volition so much as gets pulled along by the whole Incal affair. Which fits, because there’s enough batshit stuff happening at any given time that we, too, are just along for the ride.
The digital version I have only goes up to the end of volume 4, so I can’t post any scans of the later pages. Later things get... quite abstract! It ends on a curious note: instead of our ‘pull back camera’, the darkness egg threat is resolved (by a plan that involves sending everyone in the entire universe to sleep at once), and the universe kind of snaps back to the very beginning with John falling down the shaft. It’s not clear if this means the entire story is going to repeat itself endlessly on a loop, or if this time things will play out differently.
Apparently there’s a whole bunch more Incal stories, such as Before the Incal, After the Incal and Final Incal. As well as other Jodo-authored comic books like The Metabarons, which I really need to finish. I’d love to get my hands on those, this comic is such a treat.
Next up: Solo Levelling!

the virtuous few
Kindness is not your virtue.
The sun was setting on the western horizon of Dead Sun Bay, illuminating the single canoe that drifted out to sea. The people gathered were few for the funeral of a dead man for whom no body was to be buried at sea. The was no speech, no name to speak from the tongue. He would die quietly and in secret.
It was January the 5th, not two days after the news of the nameless’ death. He died in the arms of a stranger, at the epicenter of a butterfly tamped down into a cornfield. "Ya'til-anath, my friend. So long as we remember, you cannot truly die." Eilithe fired the arrow alongside Azura and the canoe engulfed in fire. If she never could speak his name aloud again, she would not let him die. She would remember.
His death went covered up. He was exiled from the Kingdoms, he deserved it. Naddred assured Eilithe that whomever had done in the Nameless in had done service to kingdom and country. And yet, Naddred had stood on the off skirts of the funeral, hand clutched tightly--whole body on the verge of breaking.
The threat of Death was ever at her door, she’d talked Lliane off a ledge knowing full well it was a temporary fix for a ticking timebomb. By the following week’s end, something had slithered its way into Artaenis’ mind and promised the resurgence of the Void into her orbit. Another week, another blow-- another fragile piece of glass stacked into Eilithe’s hands and she gripped so tightly that it cut her hands.
Solun called in hypervigilance and yet, could she call it hyper when every new face that crossed her path may have been responsible. For the nameless, forgotten’s death-- for Artaenis’ wild, thrashing-- suffering. And then there was Lliane. “If anyone comes looking for me, you never knew me.”
But if she forgot, then the dead would slip away. Within the week Eilithe was dredging up Lliane’s sunken ship.
The tallest candle burned in the window of the teahouse in Stormwind, beside it a single forget-me-not stem. After Eilithe had swallowed Lliane’s supposed death, a bottle of red wine, a single rose, and a note joined Nameless’ memorial on the window. She couldn’t stomach another bodyless funeral.
And so her goodbye remained face down on the window sill until the 20th of January, when cruel fate gave evidence that Lliane was alive. The first thing Eilithe did was retrieve that note.
Lliane, I hate you. With every shred of my being I am furious for going on your own in some grand suicide mission. I hate you. For making us care-- for making your death unignorably pertinent. For leaving without saying goodbye.
Most of all. I hate you for failing.
- E
“What was that?” Solun asked when Eilithe tore the note from under the bottle. “She’s alive, it isn’t needed anymore.” They were going to get her, Lliane hadn’t failed. She was alive. She was alive, and He was not.
More work to do-- more glass to cut her palms.
Her features had begun to crack, Eilithe’s eyes were always tired and every single day she felt weaker-- further away. Kurel had sat her down more than once and said in the gruff voice that was all his own, “You make mistakes when you’re emotional.” And she did. Every misstep, every death, every minor fuck up made her more erratic. Each attempt to stabilize was met with with resistance or a sharp cut to her ego.
Even from the radiant, Deichtine Chirruplay-- a priestess of Elune whose every step and word bellied ancient grace that captivated Eilithe in a way she could not articulate.
I do not care for her-- I don’t know why Solun had told her, a gentle suggestion not to trust the Priestess who seemed to possess the ability to peel Eilithe like fruit. So why couldn’t she stop talking.
“‘Til you’ve controlled your bearings, naught else can be reached without overextent. Should that pass, all that you carry would cascade away... should that hunger still squirm in your belly, keep what you cannot carry under heel ‘till you’ve the capacity,” Deichtine spoke so plainly. And she seemed the first to understand Eilithe’s need for control-- need to grip tight to shards of glass even as they buried into her skin and caused her indescribable pain.
“You consider yourself a kind person?” Deichtine asked her. No. But she gave some half-truth answer. Others would call her kind, not understanding Eilithe to be an exceptional actress. “Would you wish to bend ear to my position?” Deichtine offered, and of course Eilithe asked for the Priestess’ truth. “Kindness is not your virtue.” And Eilithe knew her words were true, someone bold enough to speak it to her face was rare. “‘Tis the control you seek to rest which is its true source. To eschew from allowing others to ‘fuck it up’ to pass. Should one suffer, you step in so that no one else might let them suffer further. You ask of the matter of others so that you might find your solution to their problem.” Because they so often couldn’t find the solutions on their own. Because they so often failed.
“Nay, ‘tis pride that is your virtue.”
“I won’t be home tonight, I’ll be overnight with a patient.” Solun had told herm and Eilithe could not find the gall to tell him she did not want to be alone that night. She opened the door to her home and found , for the first time in months, no one was there to greet her. The children slept and upstairs, her own bed was cold in the space that Solun had come to occupy. Alone with herself. Alone with Lliane, with Nameless, with Artaenis’ burden, with Naddred’s ire, with her every mistake-- with her Pride, Eilithe stared at the wood grain of her ceiling. Through the night, as late evening ticked to morning, her grip tightened, and tightened.. and tightened. Kindness was not her virtue.
