NEW MUSE! INTRODUCING SELENE SHAW – WEREWOLF!

:: General Info ::

Cursed generations upon generations ago by the St. Clair witches, the Shaws are a family of werewolves. Typical lore applies, in regards to the full moon and silver (more on lore at a later date/post), but the family is semi-nomadic due to their nature as wolves. Neighbors and other mortals have come to believe they’re more a military family, or just have to move for company reasons, and the family hasn’t done anything to dissuade this notion. (In fact, there have been members who’ve served in the armed forces at times in the long career of the Shaws. Despite (or maybe because of) their wolf nature.) 

Selene was actually born on a night where the moon was almost full, in a cloudless night sky, hence her name being chosen at that time, right in the moment. The moonlight was shining into the room where her mother was, and inspiration, as Mrs. Shaw stated, struck. Instantly. Selene’s just happy she wasn’t called Luna--so unoriginal, in her words. 

In general, the activation of their wolf side happens around puberty, and it takes those good few first years to learn to control the “animal within” and understand the strengths (and weaknesses) of being a wolf. Selene’s first transformation wasn’t the easiest, as she’d gotten free from her restraints (she was a smaller wolf and the restraints weren’t made right for her) and slipped into the next neighborhood over. 

Animal control was called over a wild wolf wandering the streets at that time, but by the time they showed up, those who “knew what was up” had helped Selene get back with her family and out of potential trouble. Well, deeper trouble, anyway. 

Selene has made it through her education, and she likes to travel--a lot. She’s a photographer and an artist, a free spirit. Perhaps it has something to do with her nature as a wolf, the inner part of her that connects so well to the freedom of the natural world. Her senses are higher, more alert, when she’s not being polluted in the cities. And currently, Selene dwells in Small Town, USA, a place in the mid-south with her family not too far away. 

At least, that’s the way it is when she’s at home. Not traveling around the country and world for her photography trips. Freelancing she may be, but it pays what she needs it to. An only child, Selene grew up in a (fairly) loving home. Her uncle was the alpha of their pack, until he was killed suddenly when she was only six years old. Barely a few months after that, her father had gone off to avenge his brother’s murder. 

He was never heard or seen from again, either, leaving Selene alone with her mother--and the other pack members. Her father’s friend, Xavier, soon took over as pack alpha, and helped take care of and watch out for Selene and her mother. She viewed him as an older brother, protector of sorts, just as he’d always seen her as a kid sister. Someone to watch over...
