Regarding Victor's pedigree

On his father's side, Lord Alastair Trevor is of Scottish/Welsh descent (hence the name Trevor). His grandfather, aka Victor's great grandfather, was not born rich, but he got into the spice trade in Calicut, India during the British rule and acquired a fortune. His son (Vic's grandfather) then went into the tea trade and was equally successful, and this was the business that Lord Trevor later inherited and passed down to Victor. He earned his title of Lord through peerage, owing to his baronial lifestyle and fortune, as well as his close connections to Britain's chief political figures and the royalty.

On his mother's side, Evelyn Maxwell is of Colombian and English descent. Her mother lived in a small village in Colombia, and that was where she met her adventuring and wealthy English husband. They married and moved to England, where Evelyn was born.

Evelyn inherited her adventurous nature from her father, and her passionate, tropical temper from her mother, both of which clashed terribly with Lord Trevor's reserved and somewhat puritanical nature, and although he dearly loved her at the beginning, he was accused of coldness and indifference. They completely drifted apart after Victor's little sister, Annabelle was born, and Evelyn began to take lovers while Alastair buried himself further in his work, perhaps to ignore what was barely concealed. The children were naturally ignored throughout their bouts of drama. They never divorced each other, mainly owing to Alastair's wish to save face and avoid his own name being tarnished, and continued to live together until Alastair passed away.

For years, the Capp and Monty clans have been at each other’s throats; yet this hatred cannot stop the younger generation from crossing borders and falling for one another. Some townies’ memories could disappear. It happens even with the mod that forbids the townies from losing their memories. I don't know what the reason is so I recommend checking them before you play the game, namely, by going into the family and teleporting the townies to the resident lot. If the memories are already gone, then please re-download the hood.

Hoodchecker might show some minor errors connected to the wrong memory subjects. This was intentional so don't be alarmed! It doesn't affect your game in any negative way.

Don't try to resurrect Julien Cooke. Just forget about him.

Oberon originally had an overlay with a mechanical prosthetic. But for some reason in some testers’ games the overlay was affecting Oberon's complexion, turning his skintone white… So I removed the overlay entirely. You can add it back if you wish!

Laten's mom had been waiting for this moment — she's so excited. Her boy fell in love, how crazy is that.

She knows what he's like, how hard he found it to connect with others, so when he tells her about you (before you knew it was a relationship, lmao) she was beyond excited and had been waiting to meet you since.

But between uni, rugby, life, work, you name it, you both never found the time to go and visit his family. So in between that space, his mom added you on social media and would like the majority of your stuff, commenting things like, 'Beautiful!' underneath your selfies and posts with Laten.

Much like Laten, she's an aggressive lover, and loud about it, too, she loved you before you both met.

"Thank you, the dinner was amazing." You said, a polite smile across your lips as you drank from your glass of water. Laten and his younger brother, Daniel, played with the dog as their mom set her gaze upon you, "I'm so glad that I've finally met you. Laten has said so much about you." Her words caused a blush to creep upon your cheeks.

Laten didn't seem like the type to talk about people like that, especially somebody like you, his partner. But he does, all the time. You reminded him that he can love. You looked over his way, his smile wide as he picked up the dog with a laugh, Daniel running after them as they shot out the back door.

"He changed after his dad died. I'm glad he's met someone who understands him." You sat quietly and thought on her words, you didn't know about his dad. He never said anything about him. Suddenly you felt guilty, you could have been there for him, understood him better, maybe you wouldn't have judged him so harshly when you first met. "I'm sorry for your loss." Was all you could muster up to say, but she shook her head and smiled, "It's just life. Can't control it."

From then on, you looked at Laten differently. It made more sense as to why he is the way he is; his unemotional availability and then how suffocating his love can feel at times; he doesn't want to lose anymore.

As you looked around his bedroom, photos of him and his friends from school stuck to the wall around certificates and a shelf full of trophies; clearly he's always been a winner. The room is a dark shade of blue with the bedsheets to match and you could tell that he hadn't had it decorated in years, the paint scuffed on the edges of the wall and the furniture chipped at from years of use. It felt cost and it's scent was all him, your favourite scent.

"You good?" He asked, walking in with his towel around his waist, the water dripping from his curls of honey and down his body, he looked almost edible. You watched as he gathered his PJs and got himself dry and dressed.

"Yeah. You?" You asked back, he turned his back to you as he shot a quick, "Yep." Once he turned back, he sat on the edge of the bed and stroked your leg gently, "I knew they'd like you." He smiled, his green eyes twinkling,

"I'm glad." You said sincerely, at first you were worried but as soon as you stepped into their home, you felt welcomed automatically. "But my mom won't shut up about marriage now..." He laughed a bit, but you couldn't unsee the look of curiosity in his eyes as he watched you.

"We're a bit young for that, don't you think?" You questioned, not knowing what to say. He smiled and lay down on the bed, putting his arm underneath his head, his bicep flexing. "One day." He said before squeezing your leg gently.

What's going on this month for my blog?

Uh tbh I was supposed to have a WHB OCversary event for myself and well that hasn't been going to well because of outside factors. If ya'll see it before Halloween that would be my ideal goal.

Also I was going to do a Halloween thingie like how I did for my other blog last year but I don't think I will end up getting to it...I might just update with the kings/nobles I didn't include!

akira himekawa are unbelievably cool.

soooo here's the thing. i was looking at akira himekawa's website on a whim and found a public blog, with posts that go all the way back to 2009. many hours of google translating later, and i've developed an even stronger admiration of these two women and their exceptional career as manga artists. they share so much in these posts about the creative process, their thoughts on social justice, their connections with nature, and their most major original story, gliding reki, which seems to have always been a passion project in the midst of commercial work.

from what i could gather, reki is unique in that they were determined to do it in full color. and they did it, because after reading about their career, it's clear to me that when these women set their mind to an idea, they make it happen. see also: they just recently produced and distributed their own art book, because no publishers were offering to do it in a way that pleased them.

their stated goals for reki were to make something more adult than their previous children's manga, taking place in a city, involving a lot of mechanical art, and featuring stronger romantic and self-described erotic subtext. good for them. before i get into the four swords-related stuff, i'm sharing what i could find on the internet about reki.

not much that i could find on the blog specifically references four swords, but they have many fascinating insights about nintendo, the zelda fandom, and the franchise as a whole. i can't know for certain because this information was surmised from translated text, but it seems as if their manga with chibi link made them feel a little stifled, which is why they took a long break before returning to do twilight princess. it's not lost on me that even a work like four swords, which they may regard as not their favorite or best, still has inspired and brought together so many passionate, creative, and diverse people. this is especially sweet because it seems as if they met each other, and formed their creative partnership, because of a shared fandom interest of their own.

honda and nagano have shared their thoughts and feelings on this blog for more than a decade, and they have a lot of thoughts and feelings. throughout their entire career they've made commentary on work-life balance, their experiences as women in a male-dominated field, and their desire to create original art while simultaneously enjoying some commercial work as well. they are passionate about social justice, particularly re: women and indigenous people, and offer insights on aspects of culture and history and the state of the world that really could resonate with anyone. and they really seem to appreciate fans of their work, and emphasize repeatedly the care and thought they put into their manga in the hopes it will inspire and bring catharsis to readers. they love animals (especially wolves), being outside in nature, being nerds about art they enjoy, a certain subgenre of romantic manga that appealed to and empowered female readers in the 90's and 2000's, and traveling around the world to partake in activities like horse riding and falconry.

the coolest part is, they're still updating the blog to this day :) in fact they seem to have recently returned to it, reflecting that twitter is not their preferred manner of sharing things online. they seem very familiar with and fond of older-school blogging culture.

there's a lot more i could say here about my findings, some of which do pertain to... certain ships 💜🖤 . but i don't want my genuine appreciation for these authors to be overshadowed by that kind of conversation. in addition to a link to the blog itself, i'm including a few translated posts of interests, which you can interpret and incorporate into your perception of the media however you please. at the end of the day, it's a really cool gift that these artists have chosen to share so much over such a long period of time. by making their personalities, beliefs, and insights more visible to fans of their work, i hope it brings new context to the stories we already love.

The Fracturing and Decline of the Tulpamancy Community

Why am I back? Well, I've been thinking about this for a while and a friend of mine just discovered the Tulpamancy stuff. If you're reading this, you know who you are. Still not happy that you found out, but it got me thinking about some stuff I want to write down.

So, some of you may know, #RedditTulpas, the official r/Tulpas Discord server shut down like, a few months ago. The Tulpa.info server got shut down back in 2023, and there's also the debacle that happened with Tulpa Chat several years ago. Basically, all of the largest Tulpamancy Discord servers get shut down for whatever reason once they hit a certain point. The main reason why tends to be drama driving the staff to their wits end, which eventually leads to the server being shut down for the well-being of the staff's mental health.

I mean, I guess there's Tulpa Central with its 1,300+ members, but even though Kopase (eugh) isn't the owner anymore, it's still a server that deliberately excludes other forms of Plurality, and I don't think communities like that should be encouraged to exist. Because let's be honest, that's just thinly-veiled ableism and ignores how Tulpamancy techniques can help disordered systems function better. Oh, that and the fact that other plurals can have tulpas, too.

I also want to bring up how r/Tulpas has drastically declined in quality; we are especially cognizant of it because we moderate that subreddit. There's a lot of low-effort, redundant, and sometimes low-key unhinged posts on the Subreddit, and there is very little actual productive discussion. Most posts there nowadays are just questions, many of which have to be removed because they're already questions that are answered in the FAQ or so basic that they should be asked in the pinned post.

With Reddit specifically, I think a factor in this decline is the direction Reddit has been going with trying to become a publicly traded company, especially with their API changes essentially killing third-party apps. That, and Reddit gleefully giving away all of its user posts to OpenAI with no ability to opt out. We ourselves only check Reddit to moderate the subreddit nowadays because of these changes, and we wouldn't be surprised if others followed suit.

However, this doesn't discredit the general trend we've seen with the larger Tulpamancy communities just declining or outright dying.

The Tulpamancy side of Tumblr has been pretty quiet for several years now with the only major Tulpamancy-specific blog besides ourselves really being Sophie's and maybe Caflec's, and we're hardly active in terms of making posts (we just don't have much to talk about anymore).

There was also the Tulpa.info Mastodon instance, Tulpas.social, but that died pretty damn fast. Plural Café closed invites the moment we tried recommending it to others and has been gradually falling apart, too.

My point is: there's hardly any actual large gatherings of Tulpamancy systems anymore. I remember in one of my Tulpamancy Help videos, I explained how the community became fractured, but I think it's gotten even worse. Like, don't get me wrong, I don't think the community should be a monolith; niches exist for a reason. However, there's something just... disheartening about seeing gatherings of 1,000+ Tulpamancy systems just getting dissolved; thousands of people conversing, exchanging ideas, and helping each other just... separated.

You're probably wondering, "Well, if you're complaining about it, you surely have some kind of solution, right?" Well, not really. it seems to be a cycle tied with the general makeup of the community; enough people in the community just seem to be drawn to petty arguments and drama that takes a toll on the people who manage these communities. So for larger gathering to exist, the people need to be palatable. Otherwise, as new communities form and people flock to them, the same people that caused the downfall of the others before will follow suit. And to be frank, I don't quite have a solution in regards to getting people to stop gravitating towards and starting mentally-taxing drama. That's up for the individuals inside the community to figure out, let alone want to change.

So, what's the conclusion? I guess it's just that I believe the community is heading towards some kind of recession, a dark age of some kind. And that makes me sad to extent because the more Tulpamancy spreads, the more its techniques can be used to help people. There's a reason anthropologists and psychologists are studying Tulpamancy, especially with the interest in its possible therapeutic applications. Despite that, I want to be optimistic and hope that eventually, the community finds its stride again instead of fading into further obscurity.

This year we're celebrating the process of making pages... so below the cut I've got a bunch of pictures sharing how I go about making pages of my evil post-apocalyptic workplace sitcom, Cargo!! :D

So! My process!!

Writing-> I think sometimes there's pressure to "write" your comic a certain way, I see people talking about script format and stuff a lot. That really doesn't work for me, though! I write my "first draft" script in short scenes on scrap paper, in whatever order they come to me. Sometimes a scene will just be one or two lines, and then a little description of what I want to happen in the rest of the scene.

Later I type the scene up, and write the "connective tissue" that fits between the disjointed scenes so they all flow together like they ought. I don't do page breaks or even character tag or action notes hahahaha I like it to be as BASIC as POSSIBLE so it's easy to edit. And since I'm the person drawing it I can almost always remember who's supposed to be saying what lmao

I edit a lot, but the most major editing is also probably the last bit... when I letter my pages usually I realize "they would never say that" and so I end up rephrasing everything. My art brain is sometimes waaaaay better at phrasing hahaha. Like you can see in the finished page for this script I rewrote like basically all of it, and actually went back to the original "sketch" script in a lot of places.

Thumbnailing-> my thumbs are really big, I draw them with markers on printer paper and keep them in a binder!! I like to thumb scenes in batches and I also usually write my dialogue on them, just so I can read through them before (and while) I draw to get a feel for how the pacing works. :)

Sketching-> OH sketching is also really hard for me! I don't have a good visual imagination so it's really important for me to make sure I have good references. Last year I was especially focusing on setting.

My comic is set in Florida. I'm lucky in that I used to live there and still go back to visit sometimes, so sometimes I can gather my own reference images! But more often I start on Google Maps or Zillow, trying to find buildings that have interesting features or the right kind of "look" for what I want. I'll also look up other interesting elements, my comic is set in a post-apocalypse and I'll research home gardening and things like that which people would probably have.

For example, in this set in chapter 7, I used Google Maps images, photo references of indoor hydroponic gardening, and like, 90's-00's hacker computer setups haha. Also my BFF Roomstyler.com, where you can make 3d house interiors haha!!

Lineart-> I LOVE lineart it is my favorite!!!! I sketch and ink two pages at a time, and it usually takes somewhere between 10-12 hours to do both steps.

I actually think my art looks best when it's just lineart... but I think my STORY is better with color, like it makes it clearer and easier to read and it has a better atmosphere HAHA.

Colors-> I think it usually takes me 4-6 hours to do 2 pages (I haven't timed myself as consistently as I time my lineart and sketching). I have a big file with small copies of my previous pages that I color drop from, and my characters are all flats only. The limited palette that I use is also really handy, it streamlines coloring a LOT.

Finishing Touches-> aka I steal mercilessly from my one true love, my internet home, the beautiful and blessed Wikimedia Commons

I put lots of overlay layers on my art! I like textures so having some strange little textures or pictures on things makes my art feel a lot more finished to me.

And finally my very most favorite ✨finishing touch✨ is the bright colored/patterned gutters that I use. Here are some of my favorites that I've made and used in the past!

My little writing progress journal...

Well, today is my first day of class. And Chaos Theory isn't done. I missed the deadline. I spent so many hours writing in the last few weeks, and I still missed the deadline.

One issue is that the more I write, the more there is to write. There are little bits of the story that didn't interest me before that I want to follow the threads of. And, I think, to tie up the end effectively, I'm going to think more about how I will handle part 5. It was just supposed to be four chapters, including the epilogue, but there might be more to it than that.

I've also been stuck writing two very important and action-packed chapters. One might shake out to be 15k words, and I may post it as a spin-off one-shot instead. The other is basically a super long fight scene that I have a lot of cool ideas for. but guys. Figuring out the order of operations in an extended fight is hard. For the first time since I started CT, I wish I could go back to my undergrad and ask my writing professors how to handle this stuff. I know I can figure it out, but it's going to take some time.

And editing! I've been editing stuff like crazy, even the chapters that I was really happy with. I think I've sat with them too long haha.

Lastly, I really put my media blinders on to do all this writing, and so my well has run a little dry. I need to gather some more input to produce compelling output. I also had to step away from CT and write a one-shot for Squall's birthday.

So I posted Chapter 28. I have Chapter 29 written, but it needs to be edited (again). I will hopefully publish it on Friday, but we'll see. Chapter 30 is written and will probably need less editing than 29, but it ends on (maybe) the biggest cliffhanger of CT, so I will want to wait to post it until Chapter 31 is almost done (so the wait between chapters isn't too long).

Chapters 31/32 are a mess (and one of those might become a spin-off). After that, I have a plan for the rest, a few major scenes prepared, and most or all of the last chapter written, plus the epilogue. But I may end up with closer to 40 chapters total.

So... It is going to be hard, but I am determined to balance writing with school/my internship. I will not give up on this project, but updates will definitely slow. And don't be surprised if I write more one-shots and/or finish A Sorceress Awakens before I complete CT, because they will be probably be easier to write when I only have a little time.

As always, I will keep reporting my progress here. For those of you who are on the Chaos Theory train, thank you for reading and your patience and support! I hope you don't mind bearing with me while I take my time landing this plane.

Shop talk! I know you're currently doing the whole writing and posting thing differently than before - like the whole thing is written, you're just editing and posting once a week. So what do you think of that? Do you prefer it over how you worked previously? Does it depend on the fic??

And how much editing are we talking? Both in terms of words changed as well as time spent on it? Do you do editing the next chapter for a whole week? Are you constantly editing all upcoming chapters??

So it's the first time I've done that, and now that I'm in the posting part I am liking it a lot. I like the structure, I look forward to Wednesdays, I feel like I gathered a little bit of an audience that is there weekly with me as well, which is nice for everyone. I don't know if it makes any difference to people in terms of engagement if they hear that its completed in advance or see it posting regularly, but idk if it was me as a reader I would appreciate the regularity so I hope people do. At least one person has told me they're waiting to read it until it's finished/waited to start until it was over half posted, idk if I'll suddenly get new readers when its up in full or what but I def understand that. But yeah! The posting weekly thing has been nice. It feels productive even if I actually don't do a ton of writing every week.

Actually writing the thing took like two years though, specifically because there was absolutely no gratification to it haha. I didn't really even post wip snippets or talk about it much, because I wanted to keep my secrets. I was writing either Matchsies or A Complicated Match still when I had the idea and started plotting, so part of it taking so long is also that I was dividing my attention, and devoting more of it to the ongoing stuff I was actually posting. But I started this fic with the intention of letting it be a slow side-burner project so that I could make it "really good" by the time it went up. And that was a good call, because I did a lot of re-writes and re-structuring to elements of it, especially some of the early chapters, when I got further into the plot. To be clear, it's had the same outline all along, but there were connecting details that didn't work, like logistical travel time things that would have been glaringly annoying if I'd posted the first drafts of the first few chapters before writing the later ones. Also I re-vamped Sylvanna's character really early on into a more major role. She wasn't originally a bodyguard! Or really a main element of the story at all. Absolution came out at some point and I got Ideas.

Anyway, a lot of the editing that went into the fic before I started posting was pretty major, but by the time I was ready to actually start posting everything was much more concrete. I tend to edit the next chapter in the days before it goes up, and right before posting, mainly just for little details. But I try to give myself some distance and not overdo the constant editing so that when I do look at it right before posting I have some fresher eyes, right now I haven't looked at the next chapter (lying, I read it last night, but not from an EDITOR standpoint) in a couple weeks and I plan to put on editor glasses tomorrow morning before I post it. A big part of the editing that is ongoing is for how the prose reads, like I might come up with some gorgeous metaphor or re-do how a scene is described but keep the content the same. You get better all the time as a writer, so it's just about getting the Good Copy as Good as I can before it goes up. Every now and then I have a genius thought and go stick it in where it fits. Every now and then I also delete stuff or have a genius thought that doesn't actually fit and stick it in "CUT CONTENT" on the bottom of the doc. There's some Taren-perspective Bher stuff in there that didn't work with how I structured Ch. 20, for example. I was thinking for a sec I'd re-write that whole chapter and do a flashback chapter for him but it did not suit the flow at all and I only got a couple paragraphs in and then just... added like two lines of Taren Thoughts to get the point across instead haha. I also cut a couple chapters in half but didn't change them (19 and 20 are an example, which is also why a ch. 20 rewrite did not work.)

The most major edits I've made have been to the last two chapters, mainly to add in a few new ideas I had or to tie up loose ends I realised I was still leaving. I haven't majorly changed any of what was going to happen, it's more just me trying to really nail those last chapters. I am also constantly re-reading it in full (sometimes making minor tweaks to names in the narration ;) and also boring stuff like punctuation). I'll post a chapter and immediately get excited for the next one and go read from that point to the end...

There's also a "secret" epilogue that I wrote, really liked, and then cannibalized and entirely re-wrote like, yesterday. I wasn't initially sure I'd even post it but now I definitely will. So stay tuned for that ;)

I know I can’t be the only one who feels weird about the whole Taylor Swift Version thing with some of her songs/albums? I’m no TS fan and get wanting to re-record or do something else with a previously released song, like it’s not that uncommon to find the word “remastered” on some tracks/albums/etc, but from what I've gathered, it's coming across very much like TS wasn't aware that she wouldn't own the rights to the mastering or the recording and that she would only own the rights to the lyrics if she wrote the songs and the vocals by going to a recording studio to put it simply? If you don't know much about releasing songs, I get that you're not necessarily going to understand the ins and outs of it, I definitely didn't a few years ago, and I'm aware she was kinda young when she started out so I get why at the time she wouldn't know, but she's been in the industry long enough to understand that she wasn't the one who recorded or mastered those things before the Taylor version?

Like I said, I'm no TS fan and this is coming from an outsiders perspective but it seems almost bratty. I get that there were apparently some things going on which is apparently why she did the Taylor Versions of albums, but at the same time there seems to be something else that I can't quite place my finger on. I saw a post on instagram about how TS sent Kelly Clarkson flowers and the vast majority of the comments was basically along the lines of women supporting women and women empowering women predominantly by what I can only assume are TS fans and it felt very weird. I don't mind some of her songs, it just doesn't sit right with me about the way her and her fans (at least the hard core fans) are going about the recording and remastering thing. There is absolutely nothing wrong with doing either of those things, but it's just the stuff surrounding it that doesn't sit right with me

Lionblaze x Honeyfern

Become mates and have kits post Great Battle. First litter were “legacy kits” Leafkit and Bramblekit after Brambleclaw and Leafpool who died in the battle. They become Leafstripe (Sorrelstripe) and Bramblesong (Fernsong). Their second litter is Spotfur, Flywhisker, and Snaptooth.

Hollystar x Cinderheart

Become mates before Great Battle, but Hollyleaf’s distraction with the prophecy and her brothers causes issues with their communication early on. They’re a healthy relationship who never have kits of their own, though Hollystar raises Flamekit after Sparkfire’s betrayal. So their adoptive son is Nightheart. He’s a pain in the ass.

Dawnstar x Crowfrost

He’s 5 moons her senior and her father’s apprentice, so she just doesn’t like him initially cause she sees him as a stick in the mud - which he kinda is. Opposites attract trope. They become mates towards the tail end of the Po12 arc, but Dawnpelt gets pregnant with their kits before The Great Battle much to her dismay. Due to the stressful period, she doesn’t nurse her kits, then becomes promoted to deputy post Great Battle during a very stressful time so even less time for family. He loves her dearly though and dies protecting her from their daughter Sleekwhisker. Their kits are like canon - Juniperclaw, Strikestone, and Sleekwhisker.

Flametail x Owlpaw

Technically not endgame but the only cat Flametail loved and thinks of. Owlpaw is killed accidentally by Lionpaw, something that Flamepaw tries to forgive but can never forget. He’s softer towards Owlpaw’s kin, like his niece Gullswoop.

Heathertail x Breezepelt

Childhood best friends to lovers trope. They get together formally before The Great Battle and have two litters later on. First litter is Brindlewing and Smokehaze. Second litter is Appleshine and Woodsong.

Minnowtail x Mousewhisker

The illegal cross clan relationship. They train in the Dark Forest together and are technically mates for the majority of Po12 itself. Mousewhisker leaves ThunderClan to live with her in RiverClan post Great Battle. They have a single daughter - Havenpelt.

Dovewing x Briarlight

Best friends turned lovers again. Bumblestripe has a big crush on Dovewing and tries to get Briarlight to set them up, but Briarlight secretly has feelings for her best friend. They get together post Great Battle and want to have kita, but are struggling to choose a donor as Bumblestripe makes Dovewing incredibly uncomfortable. After learning Tigerheart too wants a kit but without taking a mate, he acts as their donor in secret and they have two kits - Lightkit and Shadowkit. Dovewing and Briarlight raise Lightleap in ThunderClan while Tigerheart is a single father to Shadowsight in ShadowClan.

Sedgewhisker x Emberfoot

Another post Great Battle pairing. Power couple dynamic with Sedgewhisker being the mediator and Emberfoot being an ambitious and diligent warrior. They’re admittedly my weakest pairing that I need to do more with besides their surface relationship and why they happen. They are the parents of Fernstripe, Featherpelt, and Larkwing. Sedgewhisker named Featherpelt and Larkwing after her best friend in RiverClan, Larkfeather.

I have another ticket booked for my UK trip this summer! This trip contains a week in London, then a couple of days in Scottish Highlands, then a week in Edinburgh, then a train back to London, and I fly home from London. The week in Edinburgh will be the first week of the Fringe Festival – I should have five full days there – so the vast majority of comedy tickets I book will be for that.

The Fringe Festival website has actually just released their latest batch of shows, will be the second last big update before the actual festival, and at this point nearly everyone I’ve been waiting for is either on my list of potential bookings, has announced a run that starts after I leave, or is probably not showing up anyway. I look at my list of people I want to see who still haven’t announced a run at all – there are 16 acts left on that list, and realistically, only a few are likely to actually announce a run. Of those, one is Daniel Kitson, whom I expect that if he does announce a run it’ll be in the morning so won't clash with anything anyway. And whatever he does, there’s no good reason to wait for him before I book stuff, because I am expecting him to announce a last-minute run, and if he does that, I’ll have no problem wasting the price of one ticket for someone else by skipping them for him. Josie Long’s doing WIPs right now and lives in Glasgow so surely she’ll be in Edinburgh at some point, but it’s a similar situation, I like her so much that I kind of don’t have to wait for her, since I won’t mind skipping stuff for her. Shelf have to turn up, right? It’s weird that Shelf haven’t announced anything yet. But mostly, I think, most people I’ve been waiting for are already on the schedule.

So I can probably start booking things this weekend. I might book a bunch tomorrow. I don’t want to leave it so long that things fill up, and I don’t think I’m waiting until the final program launches in late June. I know what I want to see. Obviously if Josie Long turns up standing on some soapbox doing graffiti under a bridge at the last minute, I will skip everything else I’ve ever planned to watch that instead. Obviously I would make my way to the top of a mountain or the bottom of the ocean at 9 AM or 3 AM or wherever or whenever Daniel Kitson decides to gather his disciples, I don’t need to leave a spot open in an effort to predict his whims.

Anyway. So far, all I’ve actually booked for the Edinburgh Festival are Nish Kumar and David O’Doherty. But I’ve now booked something else for the trip:

That's the day I get back to London from Edinburgh, the day before I fly back from London to Canada. So when I get to the end of my week in Edinburgh and inevitably get depressed because I've run out of time to see my favourite comedians, I'll still have one more thing to look forward to.

To be honest, part of this is just that I want to see the Soho Theatre. So many of my favourite comedy shows were recorded there (officially or unofficially). So much great comedy history there. I knew when I first planned this trip to the UK that I wanted it to include something at the Soho Theatre in London. But I'd be limited to what was there in the short time that I'd be in London.

So I'm lucky that this was on offer. Sue Perkins is one of those comedians whom I'd see in Edinburgh if she were there when I am, but she won't be, her run there starts after I leave. However, an Edinburgh run that starts halfway through August means WIPs in the beginning of August. So I get to get in on that, the night I get back from Edinburgh.

To be honest I've had this booked for a day now, but haven't posted it yet because it doesn't feel real. None of this does. I'm not really going to be in a room with Sue Perkins. Obviously that won't happen. Do you know who Sue Perkins is? She wouldn't be in a room with me. Not for only $30 (in Canadian money).

I remain a hard non-fan of any food-based shows, and yet, I have been a big fan of Sue Perkins for many, many years. I've been listening to The News Quiz since I was 19, in 2009. And when I started my panel show watching in 2020... I'll admit, the first few times I saw Sue Perkins, I just thought, "Wow, who is that incredibly attractive woman who makes funny comments and I've never heard of her before?" It wasn't until I'd been watching her for a while that I realized this is the same person as the Sue from The News Quiz all those years ago, the one I'd heard bantering with Toksvig all those times, the member of the News Quiz lesbian cohort, with Sandi Toksvig and Susan Calman and later Zoe Lyons. I couldn't wrap my head around the idea of them as the same person. I still have trouble wrapping my head around that. And I definitely struggle to connect all that to a person who will be in the same fucking room with me this summer, in that room that I've seen so many times as the site of my favourite comedy specials.

All these were things I thought about Sue Perkins before she got cast on Taskmaster. Then she was fantastic on there. And now I will be in a room where she also is, in person, displacing the same air as I am, like a human being. Also I'm going to the UK for real. Like, for real. I'm going to actually get on a plane and fly there. It feels like I shouldn't be able to, like how you can't fly to Hogwarts or Mordor (you can't even walk into the latter). I'm used to spending years obsessively getting to know the lore of a place, like in all my phases of obsession with fictional settings (obligatory note: fuck JK Rowling, obviously fuck JK Rowling, but my childhood obsession does leave me wishing I could fly to Harry Potter places for real, which is the main reason why a day of looking at Cambridge University is on my list of things to do during my week in London), but I'm not used to actually being allowed to go to those places and being told they're real. But I think I'll probably be allowed to go to the Soho Theatre and see Sue Perkins from the News Quiz lesbian cohort that I was obsessed with when I was like 19.

Title: Momentary, Everlasting

Pairing: Hyunjin x gender neutral!reader

Word count: 973

During his first year in university, Hyunjin learns a total of four things. 

One: The campus has a lake. A whole fucking lake. 

Two: People are forbidden from swimming in the lake. 

Three: This does not stop people from swimming in the lake. 

Four: If, by the end of your uni years, you have not sat with your friends at the lakeside at least once and talked about everything and nothing for several hours straight, you are a grade A loser. Bonus points if it was nighttime when you met up. 

In his first year, Hyunjin goes to the lake a few times, but it’s always superficial - to sketch the water for one of his art classes, to chat for a few minutes with a classmate before they head off to their other classes. It isn’t until his second year that he finds his group, seven friends who drive him insane with how loud they always are but whom he finds he loves anyway, a group that meets up at the lake any day, any time, and talks for hours at night until the sun has begun to rise. 

His sleep schedule takes a drastic turn for the worse that year, but though he complains, Hyunjin privately thinks it’ll be worth it.

And as it turns out, it is worth it. Because one evening by the lake, as they all gather to watch the sunset, someone calls out Chan’s name and Chan calls out their name and suddenly he’s waving them over and introducing them to the group, but most importantly, he’s introducing them to - 

“Y/N, this is Hyunjin,” Chan says, grinning. “Hyunjin, this Y/N, remember the friend I told you about that I wanted you to meet?”

He does remember. Y/N, music major, violin focused, plays in a trio with Jongho on the cello and Huening Kai on the piano. Chan had thought you two had compatible personalities, that you could be good friends. Hyunjin might be shy but he does trust Chan’s judgement when it comes to people, so he takes your outstretched hand and smiles back at your bright smile and doesn’t cringe at Chan’s offer for you to sit with them for a while. 

Chan’s judgement is good. Too good. Because by the end of that first night, despite the fact that Hyunjin considers himself quite reserved when it comes to meeting strangers, he has your number and you have his and you’re still laughing together when it’s time to part. 

Meetings by the lake with the others turn to study sessions in the library with those who like to study in quiet - Seungmin, Chan, Minho. Study sessions like these turn into getting coffee before class, just the two of you. Getting coffee turns into getting lunch, getting lunch turns into getting dinner, getting dinner turns into going back to each other’s dorms and talking until the sun rises - 

And that turns into a proper date, where you kiss Hyunjin for the first time. 

It’s not perfect, of course. For all your compatibility, you still argue, you still fight, and there’s a dangerous point towards the end of third year where you decide you need a break from each other. You spend a month away with only brief contact - a good morning, a good night, a happy birthday when March rolls around accompanied by a small box of his favorite chocolate. And when you meet up to talk again when the month has concluded, you find yourselves together again, stronger than ever before. 

Hyunjin treasures every moment with you no matter how fleeting. He draws some of them in his sketchbook, paints a few that deserve special remembrance. Sometimes he gets anxious about it - he wants to preserve every special moment he has with you, which is impossible when every moment with you feel special, but in time, he learns - 

Moments may be ephemeral, but the fact that you are here with him is everlasting.

The day after graduation, the night before you all need to move out of the dorms for the final time, you knock on Hyunjin’s door. “Let’s go see the lake,” you suggest, and what can he do but follow?

A nearly full moon shines in the sky when you reach the lakeside, shimmering on the dark water with a playful glimmer as you sit down on the cool grass, hand in hand. You open your mouth as though to say something, but after a moment, you close it and place your head on Hyunjin’s shoulder. 

For a while you just sit there in silence, breathing, seeing, living. Your breaths echo softly in Hyunjin’s ear when he places his head on top of yours, a gentle contrast to the sounds of partying in the distance, and for a moment Hyunjin wishes he had his sketchbook to draw the scene - the moon’s reflection on the lake, an expanse of dark grass and trees, you with your head on his shoulder, eyes closed, breathing in tandem. 

But moments are ephemeral, and while some can be preserved, others don’t need to be. Hyunjin sinks into the silence, feeling the weight of your comfort spread like a blanket over his shoulders. This is a moment to be cherished, to be lived. It doesn’t need to be drawn, not now. 

“This is nice,” he murmurs, looping an arm around your waist.

“Mm.” You let him pull you closer, snuggling into his side. “Kinda wish we could stay like this forever.”

Forever. Hyunjin smiles a little. “Forever’s nice,” he agrees, leaning into your touch when you start rubbing soft circles into his waist. “But I think what we have now is pretty good, too.”

Because even if moments are only ephemeral, Hyunjin knows that the love you share with each other is everlasting.

Nori’s First Mission

//This will be the second entry in Nori’s Stories, a collection of drabbles and short stories about the little blue dude or his little blue friends. This one is unrelated to the first but if you want to read it you can find it linked in my pinned post. Nori’s First Mission covers, well, Nori’s first mission out of the city. It happens many years before the current time and includes: blood, major injuries, mention of death (although no one dies), a little bit of found family, Nori imaging a sunrise, and is overall pretty long. I was hoping to show a bit more than what I have but that would take too long so just posting as it is. Hope you enjoy :)

     It was a little while after the team originally found Nori that he went on his first mission. He had been trained in common Ultra Beasts (specifically how to avoid them) and general procedures for how things worked. Still, just because you're trained in what to do if something goes wrong doesn't mean that's always what happens. It was supposed to be something simple, the mission that is. Nori was going to follow a few of the members in the Ultra Defense Force outside the city, collect some basic data to update their records, and maybe learn some stuff from more experienced people along the way. 

     The sky was always dark but Nori was noting it anyways, just like how he noted the sound the group made as they walked further from the light of the city. Osmund, the lady in charge of the expedition, marched confidently in front with something that could be considered a flashlight. As Nori was the only Recon Squad member there he also marched in the front, and even though it was just to gather the highest quality undisturbed data, it made Nori feel important.

     After a few minutes of quiet walking Osmund decided to be the first one to talk. "Your name is Nori, right? Sorry, I'm terrible with names."

"Yes, at least I think my name is Nori," he said back, "I'm not quite sure after all that's happened"

Osmund nodded, "I heard about that. I'm sorry Phyco couldn't find your family, not to mention losing your memories must have been a struggle. Still, I'm happy to have you working with us!" She smiled when she patted Nori on the back. "Just a tip but you don't need to be stiff to be professional. If you keep your posture relaxed while talking all fancy it helps your back and your confidence."

Nori hadn't even noticed he was tense until she said that. "Oh uh… thanks!"

"Hey It's my job. One of the reasons why Phyco sends all the new guys with me. That and the fact that I've walked this route so many times I'd notice if anything was off."

     They walked for a while longer after that. Nori noted (just as he was told) every rock and ancient building foundation. Each sample was one more weight added to his already sore legs until he eventually asked for a rest. Nori carefully went through his data and thanked his suit for being comfortable even if it was a little bulky. From the vantage point he was at there was still light emanating from Megalo Tower and for a moment Nori could imagine what a "Sunrise" might have looked like. Maybe there would be stars, tiny sparkles in the sky that would represent the people's dreams. Maybe there would be farms longer than buildings were tall. Maybe there would be "Trees", plants so big you could live in them. Just as Nori was about to write this down in his Personal Thoughts section of the notes he got interrupted by Osmund.

"We must have taken a wrong turn." She said, "I don't remember this place. Dalis, what's the distance to Megalo Tower?"

One of the members of the Defence Force, who must have been Dalis, looked down at an instrument with a confused look on his face. "That's strange, the number hasn't changed since I last checked it," He thought for a moment, "That must have been at least 20 turns ago. It's just… strange. I did a full diagnostic on it before we left, there should be no issue with it."

"Well nothing we can do about it now. Let's turn back before we get into any trouble… Nori, what's beeping?" Osmund asked.

Nori didn't notice anything though. It took him a bit to find what instrument was going off, his energy monitor. The small device was beeping like crazy, probably for so long that Nori had stopped noticing it. To put it simply, this was not good. "This is not good." Nori replied.

Dalis yelled, "Alright everyone get going. GO." Immediately everyone picked up the pace. Someone called the headquarters for a Lunala but it wouldn't arrive until well after the standard time simply because of how far out they went. Nori was so caught up in the group that for a little bit he didn't even notice that Osmund wasn't following them. 

"Osmund, come on!" Nori called out. She didn't move, just stared in the direction everyone was running.

"oh no. not good." Osmund murmured. "DON'T RUN THAT WAY" The entire group halted as Osmund finally ran to catch up with them. "TURN AROUND NOW!"

Nori was confused. Why wouldn't they head back? Why was it so bright all of a sudden? Nori's head hurt and he felt like he might fall over. Where had he felt this before? The world seemed to slow. Behind him the universe tore itself in two, and a monster entered the world. 

     Nori turned around In horror, his legs shaking as two hands emerged from the Wormhole, each larger than him. The hands forced the rift wider until the creature’s torso could fit through. Before Nori even had a chance to think, the Ultra Beast’s long needle of a mouth had focused its next target, him.

It was that moment that the Buzzwole came crashing down like a force of nature and everything went red. Somehow Nori wasn't dead. Somehow Nori was still conscious and as he lifted his hand to his head he felt something there aside from the blood. Don't panic, he thought, pleaded really, Osmund. Where is Osmund? 

     Nori crawled through the rubble spread by Buzzwole's entrance. He could see the destruction it had caused now,  people fell to its might, some fled but probably wouldn't get far. Finally, he saw Osmund. She was trapped beneath a rock that fell when she must have shoved Nori out of the way. He stumbled across the chaos until he fell next to her, both terrified and in pain. It was there that they waited for help. Osmund was nearly dead, barely breathing but still struggling to stay conscious even if it was only to warn Nori everytime the Beast returned to look for them. It felt like a long time before any help arrived.

     Sometime between rescue and being transported back to the city Nori must have fallen asleep, because the next thing he remembers is waking up to Phyco and Soliera looking down at him. He was told that the Buzzwole had been defeated and that everyone had survived, even if they did so with injuries. A large chunk of rock had to be removed from Nori’s head and it would leave a permanent scar just above his eye, but surprisingly he and Osmund sustained the most damage. Ms. Phoris (as Phyco had called her) would most likely not be able to go out on missions due to complications with her legs. Still, that certainly wouldn’t stop her from training others in the future. Nori would always be her favorite student though, enough that she even gave him her last name.

     While much has changed since this incident (mainly safety procedures) it’s content continues to affect those involved. Aside from the main physical injury Nori received, from this point forward he almost refused to get too close to any kind of Ultra Beast or pokemon. It also kickstarted Nori’s relationship with Osmund, one of the primary people who he considers his family, as he has none by blood. Like a few other of the accidents Nori continues to find himself in, it still bothers him a little, even if he won’t admit it.

UPDATE/NEWS!!

Hello, this probably seems like a very random post out of the blue, huh? Unfortunately I have been thinking about making a post like this for quite a long time now and I think today is the day I'll actually go through with it and do it.

Unfortunately, I have lost a ton of motivation for this blog to keep it running. That's no surprise since I've mentioned it before and keep disappearing for weeks/months only to return quickly for a few days/hours. A lot of my motivation to write for the characters on this blog simply isn't as strong as it used to be, because if I'm being honest Fnaf and a majority of the fangames are in the back of my mind as I focus on other projects and irl things. My interest in it is still going but overall I focus more on my own stories/OC's/and AU's I have for it than anything else. I can't seem to find the actual motivation to write for this blog in particular.

All this to say that basically I think I'm going to discontinue this blog and leave it behind. It's helped a lot during a rough time in my life and I'll always love the things I wrote and the people I met and talked to along the way (even if some events that happened weren't too great at times)!

I'm thankful for all the readers and kind people I met who had fun ideas and really loved and enjoyed this blog!!! I'm happy that it made other people's days and they loved what I wrote!

I will leave the blog up, mostly as an archive so people can still continue to enjoy it and read through it if they ever want to again!

But I will not be writing anymore for this blog and will most likely leave tumblr overall to focus heavily on my personal OC projects and irl stuff I have going on currently.

Unfortunately this means that no more posts will be made on this blog. I will close the inbox for good and then leave it behind. I apologize to those who were probably waiting to see their asks be answered. I wish I could find the motivation to write them just to finish them off but there are around 50 of them and I simply don't have the energy to do so. I hope you all understand. <3

As you know, I'm not familiar with your NaruSaku kid OCs. Character and design-wise, how do you imagine them being different from the more famous fankids, Shinachiku, Hanami, and Arashi?

In fairness D, I don't think anyone other than me is actually familiar with my NS kids lol, but I gather your meaning lol.

Okay, let's be clear first and foremost cos I have run into this problem before and I don't want anyone to misunderstand me when I say something in a moment.

I have no ill will against Shinachiku, Hanami and/or Arashi. I've just been here a long time and the NS kids I came up with have been knocking around my noodle for a lot longer than Shinachiku has ever even existed. I have my own, I'm not dropping them for anyone or anything. I'm also not co-opting them and merging my characters with them either. I patently refuse.

It's rude you know?

Cool? Cool.

As for differences beyond the obvious, there's four of my kids, they look different slightly, well you'll have to tell me, I don't know too much about them outside of the bits and pieces I've gleaned from other fic and art.

I strongly suspect the biggest difference is less to do with the kids and more to do with the differences between my Naruto and the Naruto we typically see in stuff about Shina et al.

We are made who we are by the people who raise us, no matter how much we may fight against it as adults, we are the people who came out of our parents/guardians parenting. For good or ill, we are all reactions to our parents, so if my Naruto is different to everyone who writes Naruto for Shina etc ... well I'll have different kids.

I very much get a bumbling sitcom dad/fourth child vibe from Shina and his siblings' dad. And that's fine, it's a perfectly fun and popular take on how Naruto would be as an adult and parent.

I just ... disagree.

I think this comes slightly from two key differences between me and the majority of fanfic writers still knocking around in the NaruSaku sphere.

I'm a man.

I'm a father.

So I have a distinctly unique perspective on fatherhood to most of the people writing Naruto as a dad for NaruSaku. Not a better one to be clear, just a different one.

And because of this, any particular differences between Shina, Hanami and Arashi with my four kids, Sachi, Ichika, Yuuto and Akihiko ... would be kinda like comparing apples and oranges to be honest.

So what I'm going to do instead is just describe the four of them as just them. And you'll have to tell me if that's like Shina etc or not like them.

I do actually have a post where I detail my kids a bit but I was a bit lackadaisical on physical descriptions. So this post will focus on that and I will link the other post with more of their personalities here.

Now, let's start with the appearance of the eldest Uzumaki child.

Sachi Uzumaki

Sachi is our eldest, she's got pink hair a couple shades darker than her mum, eyes just a little lighter blue than her dad and her face is mostly a perfect mix of both her parents, except for the grin. She's got her dad's grin and mouth. Her hair has been all sorts of length but as she settles into teens and active ninja duty, it is cut just a little longer than Sakura's was for most of the story.

When she hits her full height she stands at 5 foot 7, has a generally toned physique like most ninja and kunoichi do with one key exception. Sachi Uzumaki's arms are jacked. Girls got guns and knows how to use them lol. Think an Olympic swimmer for reference but not quite as bulky.

As for clothes, she typically dresses for action, she's what we who grew up in the 90s and early 00s would call a tomboy. There's a general mixing of colours, Sachi is very comfortable being the centre of attention and her clothing reflects this. While she's never gone out wearing full orange or anything like her dad, she has been known to walk around wearing some of Naruto's old jackets.

She does love a good pair of combat boots, the laces normally being fluorescent colours. Sachi's go to look from about the age of fourteen was an oversized top of some primary colour, normally blue, light grey trousers like the ninja uniform and sometimes Naruto's old jacket, sometimes a black leather jacket with the Uzumaki and Haruno symbol, which Naruto and Sakura made once they got married and merged their clans, yes I like this idea too, I'm sure it's also all over the other fankids lol, she wears her headband over her forehead to keep her hair out of her face and because she won't shy away from headbutting people with it.

Ichika Uzumaki

Ichika, Ichi to the family, is Naruto and Sakura's second daughter, sometimes their second or third child depending on the story.

She typically keeps her blonde hair long, think Kushina's lengths for the most part, but the style changes from braids to long flowing locks depending on her mood. She has the same shape and shade of green eyes as Sakura and like all of her siblings, Naruto's grin and mouth. But aside from her mouth it's all Haruno all the way down, you could see Ichika from a mile away and pick her out as basically a blonde Haruno.

She's very lithe to contrast her more muscular sister, if Sachi has a swimmer's body, Ichika has a gymnast's. She's also a few inches shorter than her sister and when all four of the kids are adults, she's the shortest of the bunch at 5 foot 3.

In yet another contrast to her big sister, Ichika is decidedly more traditionally feminine in her attire, favouring pinks and baby blues in her clothing. She's also more inclined to dresses and skirts. She loves summer because it's an excuse to wear sundresses and she loves a good sundress.

It does contrast to what she wears when on mission or training, she favours more form-fitting and close clothing in that scenario and her go to ninja gear is basically the typical uniform but with leggings and turtleneck under her eventual Chunin and Jonin vests. She wears her headband like a belt buckle.

Yuuto Uzumaki

Yuuto, Yuu to the family, is their first son, normally their third child, sometimes second.

He's a dead ringer for child!Naruto. If it weren't for his hair being less spiky and more flowing, think Minato basically, and his eyes being a couple shades lighter green than Sakura's you wouldn't be able to pick out which was five year old Naruto and five year old Yuuto. It's uncanny.

That is until he hits puberty, and his hair gets longer and his face more angular and it's like looking at Minato Namikaze's face on Hokage Mountain come to life. He styles his hair differently but if Sachi is a blend of Uzumaki and Haruno and Ichika is a Haruno ... Yuuto is a Namikaze. At least in the face. Body wise he's basically the same as Naruto, muscular in an agile way with a bit more bulk than his dad and standing at a full 6 foot, the same height as his dad. I don't care if he's actually 5 foot 10 in canon, it's my world now lol.

Yuuto wears as much black as he can as well. It's actually somewhat comical to see the flash of colour at the top of him, blond hair and a dark red headband over his forehead, and then just all black. Black dress shirt open at the second button and untucked, black jeans and black boots. If it didn't suit him so well, he'd get made fun of viciously by his siblings.

He forgoes the Chunin and Jonin uniform unless he's directly ordered to or it's a formal occasion and in fairness to the boy ... it does look weird on him.

Honestly, he looks a bit like a stylish super saiyan lol.

Akihiko Uzumaki

And last but not least, Akihiko. Aki or Koko to his family, I will let you guess who calls him what, but let's just say only Sachi gets away with calling him one of them.

Anyway, Akihiko has dark pink hair, which almost darkens to a very, very light red when he hits early adulthood. He keeps it shorter than the rest of his family, not buzzcut short or anything but no longer than the bottom of his ears. It's still a mess of hair though, no sign of mousse or hair gel lol. As an older man he even grows a beard.

He's the child who most resembles Sakura facially, including the forehead. But his eyes are a glorious merge of blue and green. Honestly they're quite astounding to look at. And of course he has Naruto's mouth and that damn grin.

He's a bit shorter than his brother and father, coming in at 5 foot 11 when he stands up straight and 5 foot 10 when he slouches, which is often. And he is very lanky, he's the least muscular of his family and that actually makes him look taller than he is because of how willowy he is.

Clothing wise, I dunno how to really put it, he dresses normally? Akihiko basically dresses to blend in, he doesn't stand out and he'd really rather you didn't look at him too long. Lots of earth tones and dulled colours. His headband is the brightest thing, and he ties it around his upper left arm on a flash of pink cloth.

And that's basically it for now. I hope this was worth the wait and let me just remind everyone that my takes on Naruto and his kids are just that, mine.

I have nothing but respect for people who use Shinachiku, Hanami and Arashi as their NS kids, but maybe now you've learned a bit about mine ... you'll see why I'm so attached to them. And I hope you look forward to reading the future stories I have about my Uzumaki family.
