Is it worth watching Megamind rules? I know I’m not the target, but I’m curious yet also really really nervous. I know it’s for a younger audience but I’m still very on the fence and nervous. Also, love your writing
Omg, thank you, and thank you also for asking and yes yes yes 100% it's worth watching! It got crapped on by a bunch of people who decided based on the trailer alone that it was going to suck (how fun, a movie about a guy who everyone decided would be bad despite not knowing him got a spinoff show that...everyone decided would be bad despite not watching it, lol), so there's a lot of hate out there for it. I'm assuming you've caught wind of some of that, and that's why you're nervous? But for what it's worth, I was staring at the screen like :D basically the whole time.
Some more specific notes below the cut, but the tl;dr is please do give it a chance, if you can find the time. A G-rated direct-to-stream spinoff show wasn't what a lot of people were hoping for, and there were some folks who watched it and didn't care for it. But from a writing and storytelling standpoint, I think it is genuinely good! If you go in expecting a cute kids' show with some silly jokes and social misfits finding their way forward together, and keep an open mind, I don't think you'll be disappointed-- in fact I think you may be pleasantly surprised.
Just a gentle heads-up on some stuff because I'm not sure what you've heard about the show yet, and I'm also not sure what your existing expectations are!
The show was given a shoestring budget and not a lot of time to go from writers' room to final product, and yes, there are places where you can tell. But that was always going to be the case-- Dreamworks was absolutely not going to be spending big bucks on a franchise they've barely even acknowledged in more than a decade-- and it wasn't the fault of the people making the show. And even with the low budget, I think the animation is still genuinely solid, especially in later episodes! The people who worked on it really did a great job with what they were given.
And the writing!!! Holy shit!!! My skin is clear my crops are watered etc. The original writers handled this project and they absolutely delivered. Megamind & Roxanne's whole Thing progresses and grows and blooms in a really sweet and realistic way. Roxanne & Chum have a great dynamic. (Minion's name needed to be changed for legal reasons, but the writers worked that into the show and I gotta say, as a trans person, it was really lovely to see everyone else respond to "actually, because of [spoiler], my name is Chum now" with "oh! cool okay" and just keep rolling. I love that that was modeled for kids.) The character development is tangible; we get to watch Megamind really grow as a person and come into his own over the course of the series. And the new characters are really fun-- I genuinely enjoyed Keiko and everyone else.
Even if you never watch it (it's OK if you don't!) please just know: this was not a cash grab; Megamind Rules was made by people who truly cared about this world and these characters.
It's also worth noting that Megamind Versus the Doom Syndicate (the extended pilot) recaps a bunch of the same lessons as the original movie, so it can feel a little bit "...didn't we JUST do this??" but I'm pretty sure that was because Dreamworks didn't want to rely on kids to watch a 13 year old movie rated PG instead of G in order to get context. So like, I get it. And it's still cute! But it did mean I was nervous about what the rest of the series would be like until I was laughing my ass off halfway through Episode 2. If you're nervous, you can probably skip MMVtDS.
But yeah. I truly do think Megamind Rules is worth watching, and I've been so sad about the reception it received. Thank you so much for asking about it, and not just deciding it sucks and moving on. I appreciate you.
#megamind rules#megamind#AND THE FISH JOKES#OH MY GOD SO MANY FISH JOKES#worth it for the fish jokes alone really#also the executive producer voices one of the brainbots and you can tell he is having SO much fun lmao#it's ridiculous#anyway if kids' shows aren't your thing and you don't mind being a little confused#you CAN just watch the last 3 episodes#i would also recommend Episodes 7 and 8 and 9#and Episode 11 before watching the last 3#i feel like those ones are the most plot-heavy#but also if you get started and you're like ''noooo ahg it's not for me'' that's ok#some folks honestly didn't care for it; that's gonna be true of anything#personally i loved it#megamind rules exists and you can't stop it or me#askbasket#i've actually been meaning to watch it again#i think i'll start doing that now#thank you nonny!

Hob and Dream sharing a bath?
Can be smut or fluff your choice
i made it smutty ;) CW: bubble baths and handjobs, human au
----------------
“You’ve been working yourself ragged. You need to relax,” Hob insisted, broad hands on Morpheus’ slim shoulders, directing him towards the bathroom.
“And you think a bath is the answer?” Morpheus grumbled but allowed himself to be gently coaxed into their bathroom, currently dark save for the few candles that flickered on the edge of the bathtub.
Morpheus swallowed, taking in the scene before him. The candles gave their usually drab, off-white apartment bathroom a soft yellow glow. The room was warm and humid, sage and lavender permeating the air and immediately filling Morpheus with a sense of calm.
There were also bubbles in the water.
It was very… sweet. Hob was always too sweet with Morpheus.
“You really didn’t have to do all this,” Morpheus mumbled as he felt Hob’s lips on the back of his neck. “I’m capable of taking a bath without all these… accouterments.”
Hob chuckled into Dream’s hair, making him shudder pleasantly.
“I just wanted to do something nice for you.” Hob gave the back of Morpheus’ head one more kiss before gently turning him around. “And I think you’ll like it. Nothing like a hot epsom salt bath to relieve tension and stress.”
Morpheus stared at Hob with wonder clear in his gaze at how he got so lucky, what he did to deserve such kindness.
“C’mon, off with these…” Hob smiled as he tugged at the ends of Morpheus’ oversized shirt. Morpheus raised his arms and allowed Hob to tug it off him.
He stepped back to remove his jeans and underwear himself, noticing, even in the limited light, how Hob blatantly watched.
Morpheus grinned as he stepped out of his remaining garments and tugged on Hob’s belt loops, causing the other man to lean forward and laugh in surprise.
“Would you join me?” Morpheus asked against Hob’s lips.
“I’m very tempted…” Hob breathed, nudging his nose to Morpheus’. “But this is for you. To relax.” He reminded Morpheus with a pointed look.
And, regrettably, a step backwards, but latched his hand into Morpheus’ and helped him into the water.
Morpheus dipped his foot in slowly, humming as he felt the bath slowly caress him. The water was still hot, but not uncomfortably so. Hob must’ve drawn it while Morpheus was on his way home. The idea of Hob timing his arrival to this surprise made something warm and wanting bloom in Morpheus’ chest.
As Morpheus settled back against the tub, sighing long and heavy, he allowed his eyes to slip shut. The water gently splashed around him as he got comfortable, a low groan unconsciously tumbling past his lips.
“Feel better already, huh?”
Morpheus turned his head and opened his eyes, finding Hob crouched by him, next to the tub. The flutter of the candle close by cast Hob in amber shadows that made Morpheus want to reach out and touch, curious if the curve of Hob’s cheek and jaw would be as warm as they appeared.
After a moment passed, Hob smiled again, hoisting himself up. “You just relax and enjoy yourself, okay?” He paused to plug in an old mp3 player to the speaker on the sink, where Tchaikovsky began to quietly echo off the walls. And Morpheus could only watch as Hob went to the door, turning one more time.
“I’ll check up on you in a bit, if you’re still here.”
An unnecessary afterthought, but appreciated nonetheless. Morpheus sighed again as the door closed and he looked down at himself… the thick cover of bubbles concealing his form under the steaming water. His toes peeked out from the surface near the drain and Morpheus, indeed, felt himself loosening up.
He hummed along to the violin orchestra and brought his hands out of the water to touch the cool porcelain of the tub surrounding him, dancing his fingers on the edge.
And thinking about Hob again, lit up so handsomely and warm against the candle light. It reminded Morpheus of that time they went on a vacation in the mountains, renting out a cabin with a fireplace and a lush, fur rug before it. Where they had stripped each other naked and Morpheus rode Hob with the wood fire burning next to them, accenting Hob’s best features and making everything so, so warm.
Morpheus’ hand dropped back into the water, fingers gliding along his hardening dick, teasing himself, drawing a small gasp before wrapping his hand around himself completely with a low moan.
Hob did tell him to enjoy himself.
—--------
Hob knocked on the door before opening it and allowing himself in.
“Hey love, how’s it going?”
Hob’s ears perked at the sound of water softly splashing, and the unmistakable cut-off gasps that Hob had memorized by now… if not the sound alone, then how to get Morpheus to perform that musical note over and over again.
He walked to the tub, his blood rushing south at the image that greeted him.
Morpheus’ eyes were dark, and focused right on him. The bubbles had simmered down to almost nothing and Hob could clearly see how Morpheus was taking himself apart, a hand on his cock, the tip occasionally breaking the surface, and his other hand hidden somewhere between his legs, jerking back and forth.
Hob knelt by the side of the tub, crossing his arms over the edge.
“Someone’s having fun,” Hob grinned, unable to help himself. But Morpheus only groaned, his back arching beautifully and making Hob’s mouth go dry.
“Hob…” Morpheus’s voice was like melted chocolate, so sweet and dark, making Hob lick his lips.
“What are you thinking about, my Dream?” Hob murmured, leaning up on his knees and testing the water with his fingers, finding it still warm.
“Thinking about you–” Morpheus sighed, his eyes still locked on Hob’s. “Always you.”
“Me?” Hob played along, ignoring how his breathing had become shallow and his own cock twitched in interest. He dipped his hand below the surface, finding Morpheus’ fingers around himself and wrapping his hand around both of them.
Morpheus’ eyes slammed shut and he cried out, sliding his hand free to come out of the water and grip the front of Hob’s t-shirt.
Fuck, Morpheus was already so close. Hob felt stunned as he watched his boyfriend writhe in the water, bucking his hips up in time to Hob’s strokes and causing waves that lapped over the edge of the tub and splash onto the floor, soaking Hob’s sweatpants.
Hob picked up the pace, swiping his thumb over Morpheus’ cockhead and, unable to resist any longer, lunged forward to latch his mouth against Morpheus’ just as a high-pitched moan tore through him, now muffled in Hob’s mouth.
The grip on Hob’s shirt tightened, yanking him closer as Morpheus’ tongue shot down Hob’s throat, making his hips give an involuntary jerk against the tub and for a brief moment, entertained the idea of crawling into the water with Morpheus.
Before he could even pull away to swing a leg over though, Morpheus was coming, his jaw dropping and his own hips giving short, jerky motions as he rode out his orgasm in Hob’s hand.
Morpheus’ long, low moan of satisfaction echoed off the tiled walls and tickled Hob’s ears, his own arousal coiled tight and demanding attention.
For now though, Hob took his hand away and cupped it around Morpheus’ cheek, tilting his head and resuming their kiss, slow and languid with fire simmering just below the surface.
Morpheus kissed him back just as eagerly, but clearly worn out, boneless in Hob’s hold and slouching further into the water.
He hummed like a cat content, breaking apart with a lewd, wet sound and chuckling softly.
“You were right. I needed that.”

could you tell us more about the versions of ajax's death?
I would love to.
Ajax is an old, old myth that started out as part of an oral tradition, so it stands to reason that there were multiple versions of his death until the canonization of the epic cycle, but even then the story still evolved as various authors wrote their take on it.
I mentioned in a recent post that outside of Homer, Ajax was known to be invulnerable thanks to Heracles blessing him with the Nemean Lion skin. This makes killing him kind of tricky. Even in the Iliad, where Homer doesn't acknowledge the supernatural aspects of his heroes, Ajax is one of the few who doesn't sustain a single injury over the course of the story.
Like the myth of Achilles with the vulnerable heel, Ajax was said to have vulnerable areas. There was a version where he was the one shot in the heel with an arrow by Paris and he died from blood loss when the arrow was removed from his body back in camp, but more commonly he was vulnerable in his side or his throat (I am also very vulnerable to death when being stabbed in these areas). In most versions of his suicide depicted, he falls on his sword somewhere in his torso, so presumably he hits that specific vulnerable area in his side. I'm not sure if any of the suicides depicted have him piercing his own throat with his sword.
There was another pre-Homeric version of his death in which the Trojans killed him by throwing earth at him. I've chosen to interpret this as them attempting to bury him alive given that they cannot stab him to death. Interestingly, Ajax is the only Homeric hero whose dead body is interred rather than cremated, and a lot of theories have been proposed as to why. I think it was Sophocles who put it in his play that being interred was a punishment for his outrage against the other generals, but historians generally discount that interpretation. Interment was at no point considered a dishonorable way of dealing with a body, so it didn't make sense. Some historians hearken it back to other aspects of Ajax being anachronistic compared to his Iliad compatriots-- his shield, for example, is described in the older Mycenean style rather than getting the classical update contemporary with Homer's time like the rest of them. Most recently I read a theory that his interment might have been a nod to this history of invulnerability and the belief that covering an invulnerable person in dirt was the only way to kill them. Basically you give the person a direct route to the Underworld by sticking them... under the world.
Okay, but eventually everyone settled on the version of Ajax's death where he commits suicide. This version underwent substantial evolution over time. The oldest version (so far as I've seen as I wander my way through history books) goes like this: Agamemnon doesn't know what to do with the Arms of Achilles. He's afraid if he gives them to Ajax, the new Greatest of the Greeks, that the other men will lose their shit and start rioting (some may interpret this as a reflection of his piss poor leadership abilities). So, instead of making the call himself, he decides to let Trojans settle the matter. There are two version of this, one in which they ask their Trojan hostages to decide who is the better warrior, Ajax or Odysseus, and one in which they eavesdrop on some Trojan women talking about the warriors.
In both of these versions, Athena intervenes to make sure they declare Odysseus the victor. Two points here-- one is that in this oldest version of the story, Odysseus doesn't do anything to win. There's no trickery on his part. He's just there, and Athena picks him. The second point is that one of the key aspects of Ajax's character throughout all of his stories is that Athena fucking hates him. The feeling is kind of mutual. I could write a whole new post about this, but Odysseus doesn't factor into her decision necessarily--she's not favoring Odysseus, she's fucking over Ajax, who she hates.
After the decision, Ajax goes mad (more on this later), possibly kills some animals, and kills himself with Hector's sword.
It is only much later that we get versions where there is some sort of contest of words going on and complicity of Odysseus with Athena's scheme. This evolves more and more over time until it becomes "Ajax is an idiot who can't string two words together and Odysseus is a wordsmith." Whatever. Ovid's version is pretty hilarious with Ajax killing himself in front of everyone while bellowing something along the lines of "Try winning the war without me, dipshits."
The madness that Ajax suffers also changes over time. In the beginning, it's kind of vague. He goes mad. This could mean he got really super angry. It could also mean... he was put into a headspace where killing himself seemed like a reasonable response. Most people accept that state as a form of madness. It's only later that his madness is attributed to Athena--she made him mad rather than it being a natural consequence of his accomplishments going unacknowledged after ten years of war and also watching his friends die and lugging their corpses around etc etc. This also gets to the animals he slaughtered--in some version, he just does it. Because he's mad. In some versions, it's suggested he kills them because he won them for the Greeks, and if the Greeks don't appreciate him, by god they are not going to get to enjoy the spoils of his labor. Sorry, sheep. And in Sophocles' late version, Athena's madness causes him to imagine the cows are various Greek generals (Agamemnon and Odysseus and others) and he tortures them thinking he's torturing the generals. When he realizes what he's done, he kills himself.
What's interesting to me is that the evolution of Ajax's suicide seems to simplify his motives for doing so and make him a less compelling character. Well, he was driven mad by a goddess. And he wasn't very bright to begin with. And he killed himself to deny the Greeks his service (as if he couldn't have just gone the fuck home with all his cows).
The original suicide story as I understand it is a man who has proved himself ten times over, who everyone knows is the greatest among them, and who still gets passed over and disrespected by his fellow soldiers who all know the truth. There is nothing Ajax can do that will get other people to recognize him, and when he realizes this, that he will never accomplish his goals, this drives him "mad." He loses his purpose for living, and he dies.
#the athena aspect also adds some great dramatic irony#in pursuing your goals you are denied your goals etc etc#long post#ajax the greater#telamonian ajax#tagamemnon#the iliad#suicide mention#death mention#thanks nonnie this was fun#me looking at 5th century bce athenians and whispering for them to take their filthy hands off Ajax

A thing that always confuses me is how Jack was able to kill alternative Michael with only the power soul he got from Lily Sunders. Jack only got full power again after killing Michael and taking his grace.
Do you think it could be just Chuck making it easy in order to turn Jack into a soulless being and bring the whole moriah stuff to happen? Because someone with soul magic couldn't be able to kill a literal archangel so easily.
Oooooh, well-argued question. The latter is probably correct, but let's come up with something more fun for the in-story explanation...
One could argue that wielding a soul is sort of like wielding a weapon, dependant on the skill of the user.
We see characters like Henry Winchester tap into his soul to time-jump, but not to aid his battle prowess. He seems to use very little of his soul, as he says it'll take him two weeks to recover.
And of course, like you said, Lily Sunder taps into her soul to throw her weight around for battle. (Which seems to zap a lot more of it.)
Then, Jack. Jack appears to weave the soul-magic around his fingertips, like molding his soul comes almost second-nature.
I liken this a bit to Godstiel, too. If soul-power was easy to tap into, then I think Crowley would be throwing his weight around a Helluva LOT more, especially after he becomes King of Hell.
Instead, he genuinely appears to need Cas--i.e., a specialist--to serve as an attack dog (using the souls).
I think angels (Balthazar, Gadreel, etc.) seem more capable/adept at wielding souls (even if sometimes they explode their vessels by accident).
Which in turn serves as a good argument for Jack to either (a) have an innate angelic ability to wield his own soul or (b) be skilled at wielding it simply by nature of having to curtail and control the volatility of his angel grace throughout the course of his life.
///
EDIT the 2nd: It'd be cool to play with Sam and Dean not just being meant to be vessels...but perhaps fuel, too. Like perhaps the most adept angels can tap further into their vessels without the risk of exploding...
Ergo, some "perfect" vessels serve as potent souls to be drained. Ergo, that's why some archangel vessels get left as "drooling messes" afterward.
#how's that?#i love making up explanations#jack stuff#the soul as a weapon#thank you#that was a FUN question#tldr *skill issue* lol#thanks nonny

just got back from japan
i have been to 19 countries and every time, i smell the insanely heavy smell of cigarette smoke (i think i sent an ask abt the time i was in germany last summer) and i love it
and how i love how warm it gets
but this time its cold in tokyo
thinking about smoking on the sidewalk in a european (or any) country with my husband, steve his sunglasses are on and he has that stupid smug smile and black coffee + a croissant. thinking about european windows open while he’s fucking into u slowly so you get that hot breeze but also people def hear u. going to cozy ramen spots in japan with him, non touristy places and tiny cafes. he’s fingering u in the first class seats AND the bathroom yummy bc i hate airplane food so much. literally handing u his black card and muttering “go crazy” in ur neck and then literally telling u to buy expensive necklaces so he can grasp it in his hands as he fucks u that night. the word “no” is NEVER uttered on a trip with u lol
went to the amalfi coast two summers ago and even tho it’s not really safe to be in the water by yourself where i was at, and even tho i have a huge fear of open water, i know steve would hold you like a baby on his open cock as he fucks into you, securing your safety as u both jump into the blue sea.
anyway i love travel
“go crazy” yeah i fucking did, thanks bestie.
————
husband steve that just takes such good care of you, never wants his baby to stress a day in your married life, smiles bigger whenever he sees you happy.
sitting outside a cafe and happily sipping on your coffee and steve’s just watching you behind his dark sunglasses, closed lipped smile spreading across his lips because you’re the prettiest thing he’s ever set his eyes on.
nudging your foot against his shin to get his attention, smiling as you lean forward to push his glasses up into his hair because, “i wanna see your eyes, pretty.” you run your hands through his hair before he’s catching your wrist and pressing a kiss on the inside, another one to your palm before gently tugging until you get the memo, leaning forward with soft puckered lips to share a coffee soaked kiss. sharing small i love you’s and being absolutely disgustingly in love.
night comes and you and steve spend it at a fancy restaurant, creamy pastas and endless glasses of wine that leave you both giggly and handsy— so so so handsy. handsy enough to have steve fucking into you on the staircase of your rented villa, he just couldn’t wait and his roaming hands were making your head spin.
it’s a risky spot to be having a rather heated sexcapade, but does that really matter when steve’s cock is nudging up against your walls so well that your toes curl in your sandals, legs tightening around his body as you let a few moans slip? the rough edge of the stair is digging into your lower back but, god you don’t care because steve smells like the sea and that expensive cologne be always wears that sends you into a fucking spiral.
“god, baby you feel so fucking good. gonna fuck a baby into you, you want that?” he grunts over the sinful noises of your sex. you whimper, manicured nails digging into his shoulders as you nod, lips brushing against his with each movement. your words are chopped and breathy when you respond, “y-yeah. give it to me, please? please, please, please. i want it, steve. want that so bad.”
steve’s hair is hanging in loose ringlets, tickling the tops of your warm cheeks and nose with each thrust and it sends chills up your spine when he smashes his lips against yours, rambling about how he can’t wait to have you full of him, showing the world just how much you love each other.
and well, it’s safe to say your child was definitely conceived on that trip.
#I HOPE U HAD A GOOD TRIP JAPAN SOUNDS SO FUN !!!#IDK HOW THE BREEDING KINK CAME IN BUT HEY#I NEED HUSBAND STEVE AND I NEED HIM NOW.#I WILL BE THINKING ABT THIS FOR ETERNITY THANK U NONNIE#steve harrington x you#steve harrington blurb#steve harrington smut#steve harrington x reader#steve harrington

Trick or Treat https://www.tumblr.com/mollywog/758561317793710080/fic-tag-peeta-starts-to-learn-about-the-neck
🙏
Hello Nonny!
Welcome welcome! Here’s some candy!
🍭🍫🍬
And as a treat…
🧡🖤🧡.
It had started in the middle of the night. When they’d begun sharing a bed and she’d wake from a nightmare, he’d hold her, cooing soothing words until they’d pass. After a few weeks like this, he’d started to punctuate the episodes with a small kiss at her temple or hairline as they’d settle back into sleep. Then one night when he had gone to kiss her forehead, she had tilted her head back to meet his lips.
What started in the dark, began to creep into the day until it was part of their daily routine. A press of lips at dawn, a welcome home peck midmorning, stolen kisses during meal prep, leading to the latest addition, the increasingly heated make-out sessions before bed when they’d sprawl out on the couch, bodies pressed close. Despite the eager rocking of their hips and tentative touches over clothes, they were taking things slow.
Then something interesting happened.
He’d woke from one of his usual nightmares, paralyzed with fear until he’d registered Katniss’s presence in bed beside him. He’d pulled her closer, planting a soft kiss at the nape of her neck and she’d sighed, arching her body into his and smiling in her sleep.
He hadn’t thought much of it at the time, but then later that week when they’d been working in the kitchen he’d leaned in to press his lips to her neck and she’d shivered, knife stilling mid chop. For a moment he thought he’d done something wrong, until Katniss had dropped the utensil, whirled around, and pulled him into a kiss that had left them breathless and giddy.
Now he’s beginning to wonder if there’s a connection.
Once during a phone call with Beetee, Peeta had bemoaned an old recipe he couldn’t quite remember and Beetee had mentioned the scientific method. He explained the process: observe, question, hypothesize, experiment, analyze, conclude. And proposed he try it to solve his conundrum.
Peeta was no scientist, but with the suggestion, he’d been able to puzzle out the missing ingredient in the pesky pie.
He’s always been particularly observant when it comes to Katniss Everdeen, always questioning what makes her tick, and now in light of recent events he’s has a hypothesis…
So tonight as they kiss on the couch, he decides to put his hypothesis to the test. Experimentally planting a path of kisses down her neck, he focuses on her reactions, analyzing her breathing, pausing his progression when she inhales sharply and arches her back. His tongue laves her neck in the spot, alternating between nibbling and sucking as Katniss makes breathy exclamations. There’s only one possible conclusion:
“You like this?”
She nods erratically and he can’t imagine a better discovery.
“Don’t stop,” she pleads, tilting her head back for better access as he eagerly complies.

What is your opinion about Han Kang winning the 2024 nobel prize in literature? Is she the best representative of Korean literature nowadays?
This took a while to answer, sorry nonnie. I wanted to try making this as informative and helpful as possible- plus I was(and still am) kinda busy with preparing for college entrance stuff😅.
So!!! To answer your question:
The Korean author 한강(Han Kang) mainly writes fiction about human life and resisting violence, or historical fiction dealing with Korean modern history; I'm gonna focus more on the historical fiction side here though.
Her historical novels focus on the mental & physical scars left on Korea during the tumultuous period right after the Japanese Colonial Period & the Korean War, through the eyes of ordinary people whose lives were destroyed by each event. So Han Kang winning the Nobel Prize is super meaningful to us, because it means the world is taking an interest in Korean history, and the pain we went through.
There's a well-known quote in Korea; it was said by the Japanese Colonial Period Independence Activist & leader of the Provisional Korean Government, 김구(Kim Gu).
"오직 한없이 가지고 싶은 것은 높은 문화의 힘이다. 문화의 힘은 우리 자신을 행복하게 하고, 나아가서 남에게 행복을 주기 때문이다."
("The only thing I wish we had limitlessly is high power of culture. For the power of culture brings joy to ourselves, and furthermore gives joy to others.")
This quote means cultural power is crucial in drawing in the world to our side. If other countries enjoy our culture, they'll also take an interest in understanding us, which will in turn lead to them taking an interest in our wellbeing & listening to our voice. In fact, it's happening right now! People are learning Korean for K-Pop and K-Dramas! People are getting interested in Korean culture!! Han Kang won the Nobel Prize for books about our history!!!
So, yeah. I think Han Kang's Nobel Prize is very important to Korea, because we're now one step closer to the world acknowledging the sufferings of our country that previously went unrecognized.
And yes, I think Han Kang's novels are a good representation not just of Korean literature, but of the spirit of Korea as well! A number of her works describe some horrific incidents in our history, and others present a calm sort of criticism on the violence of society. <채식주의자(The Vegetarian)>, one of her better-known works of fiction, is a neat slightly grotesque(?) example of this recurring theme of advocating for peace and resisting violence. (This one isn't about history BTW! It's about a woman resisting the lifestyle of her secular family.)
Both history and peace are especially important themes to Koreans. History, because we're always striving not to let it repeat & not to let unsolved disputes be forgotten. Peace, because we're in constant danger, from being the world's one and only divided country, among other things.
BUT, as many Koreans are pointing out, Han Kang is- though undisputedly very talented- one of many amazing writers in Korea. In fact, I've even heard people say up to 60~70% of Korean authors are likely capable of winning the Nobel Prize, if only their work would be translated properly. I- and a lot of others- think Han Kang's success on the international level is not only thanks to her own stellar talent, but also to her translator, Deborah Smith. Deborah Smith has been translating Han Kang's works for a while now, and her thoughtful translations have been much appreciated. NGL, I've seen so many Korean-to-English translations that suck so bad, so seeing Korean literature get translated by someone who very obviously cares a lot about the text? It was like a breath of fresh air after being stuck in the school auditorium for two hours. (And yes, I have just walked out of the school auditorium after being stuck there for two hours.)
This is a lil besides the point, but this is part of why I'm planning to start a Korean literature YouTube channel after I graduate. So many great works of Korean literature either have low-quality translations or don't have any at all, and I want to introduce those works to the wider world properly.
I still have a few months to go till graduation though, so in the meantime, I hope Han Kang's works, at least, get all the well-earned love and respect it deserves.
Thanks for the ask nonnie, and sorry again for the late answer! Feel free to ask if you have any additional questions- though I'm gonna be honest, I'll probably be late in answering those as well.😅 College entrance preparation is hard haha.

#this was fun to answer#lots to research & lots to think about yknow?#I'm still v young tbh so idk if my phrasing is easy enough to understand or if I represented Han Kang well enough#but I certainly tried my very best#thank you for the ask nonnie. So if team board game night rotates, who would pick which game?
Jamie, somewhat surprisingly perhaps, tend to bring out trivia games. Things often get heated on those nights because the boys argue over the correct answers a lot. Jamie himself tends to do shockingly well in some categories and insanely, horrendously bad in others; his knowledge is spotty, to say the very least. He gets a kick out of arguing his absurdly wrong answer even after he gets they're wrong, and he gets incredibly smug when they hit upon a category that he can surprise everyone by being super knowledgeable about.
Dani is a fan of Dixit because the pictures are gorgerous, and you get to make up tiny little stories, like poetry! He very rarely wins, however, because his associations just run very differently than the others. Dani doesn’t care, though; it’s the joy of playing that matters.
Sam alternates between table top roleplaying games (preferably in a fantasy setting because he loves magic!) and word games (which he is fucking brilliant at but which he knows that Jamie doesn’t really like, so he mostly saves them for evenings when our No. 9 can’t join them).
Colin likes a bit of everything but makes a point of bringing Welsh made games because Welsh pride they include Welsh names that no one else knows how to pronounce, that’s just an extra bonus. In fairness to the boys, they all do their very best with the pronounciation and does not mind Colin shaking his head at their efforts. Well, he only shakes his head at the English players, and then him and Jan Maas bond over how hard some people appearantly find it so very hard to make simple sounds.
Isaac arranges poker nights. He’s got a room for it at his house and all, and always dresses for the occasion. Once in a while, when they’ve really got time, he brings out Risk and all hell breaks loose. (Isaac is the Worst when it comes to snacks, though, so Richard has taken it upon himself to make sure there’s drinks and appropriate niblets. That way, Richard also get to claim co-host rights and gets out of having the team over to his place, which he just thinks is too fancy for this lot. Also, Richard doesn’t really care for board games.)
Bumbercatch is into cooperative board games, especially if the goal is to work together to solve some sort of real world issue, like Pandemic. Uniting rather than tearing each other down is the way to go if they ever want to overthrow the unjust world order!
Jan Maas also enjoys cooperative board games, except he tends to opt for the ones that include traitors (like Unfathomable), because it’s just fun to watch the rest of the team succumb to paranoia and chaos. Mafia is good too! Jan Maas tends to do well in those games because he takes full advantage of the fact that everyone expects him to be very blunt, making it easy for him to get away with lies.
Zorro is a Card Against Humanity guy. Those nights are rowdy and loud affairs, and the coaches (Roy in particular) don’t like it all that much, because it invariably lead to the team shouting weird fucking phrases and sniggering about it the day after.
The coaches aren’t invited to these things, but if they were Nate would have the team play the most elaborate strategy games and he would crush. them. ever. single. time.

I’m so sorry if you’ve already done this but I keep thinking about William dealing with his bunny having like a major nightmare or something and then taking care of her 🤧
nonnie are you sneaking in my drafts?? /j
i was planning to write more fluff tonight like a one-shot but alsdkfjafk,,,
warnings: age-gap relationship (reader 20 peepaw almost 40), secret relationship, nightmares, crying, kisses, insecurity, but lots of fluff, dom/sub undertones, not proofread, i also made reader GN i hope thats okay nonnie 🙏
William knows that you're almost always a sleepy little bunny. You have a lot to do during the week; and so does he. But, he knows being in college is hard. You have many assignments to keep track of, and that often means when you come over on the weekends, you're tired. And when it comes to bedtime, you're almost always asleep far before him, and wake up after him too. As much as he'd like for you to stay awake with him, he wouldn't ever push you to do so. You were comforted by having him next to you, just as he was comforted by your presence as well. Sleep all you want, little one.
It's a plus that you also like to cuddle in your sleep. Oftentimes, the brit stays awake for about an hour or so after you fall asleep, reading one of his old novels you tease him for enjoying. Although he's sat up in the bed during these times, you're still plenty curled up next to him. One of your arms is draped across him, and his around your shoulders, his hand rubbing small circles into your shoulder.
Its a very peaceful thing for William. One of the few times his head is quiet. Calm. Relaxed.
That's why he's so quick to notice you stirring in your sleep.
He didn't think much of it at first. You moved around time to time if you were dreaming, or too hot or something. You settled down quickly though. Typically. But, not this time.
You were tossing and turning much more than usual, even mumbling some nonsense every now and again. It's when you clutched onto him rather tightly did he turn his full attention to you.
Uncurling his arm from off your shoulders, he used his free hand to smooth the hair away from your eyes. The older man could feel his lips part at what he saw; tiny, miniscule tears in the corner of his precious bunny's eyes.
Oh, no. No no no. This wouldn't do at all.
Quickly closing his book and setting it on the nightstand, William smoothed your hair down more as he pressed a few kisses to your heated cheeks, gently shaking you awake in between.
"Bunny," he said, "Wake up, little one."
Eventually, with enough jostling and encouragement, William was able to get you awake. You didn't take too long to become fully-conscious again, a look of worry in your precious eyes as you looked up at him.
"Will?" You questioned, your voice wobbly from your tears.
The brit cradled your face in his hands, gently getting you to sit up in front of him, "My love, what's wrong? You were trembling, dear."
You swallowed the lump in your throat as your hands found a home overtop his own, nuzzling your wet cheek into his palms.
"I... I had a bad dream. A really bad one.."
William used his thumbs to wipe away your little tears, feeling his heart break a little and your soft words, "You didn't tell me you got nightmares, bunny. You should tell me these things. There's nothing to be embarrassed of."
You shook your head a little, "That's the weird thing, I... I don't normally have them."
"Oh, my sweet baby bunny. Do you want some water? I can-"
"N-No!" You exclaimed, "S-sorry, I just... Please don't leave me."
The older man was worried before, but became really worried at your words. You always wanted his attention, yes, but this was... different. His bunny was never this vocally clingy. Something was wrong, and his heart hurt for you.
"Come here love." He told you, leaning down and giving you a kiss on your puffy lips. Pulling away, he wrapped his arms around you and laid you on his chest, his back against the headboard of the bed. You held onto him tighter than normal as he rubbed soft circles into your back.
"What's got you so upset, love?" He asked, pressing a kiss to your forehead, "You're a brave bunny. You know dreams aren't real, yeah?"
You nodded, but looked away from up into his eyes, "It's... it's kinda stupid. You don't have to listen if you don't wanna."
"Hey," William said, sitting you up in his lap so he could look at you better, cupping one of your cheeks again, "Whatever it is, it made my baby bunny cry. And I don't like seeing you cry, love. Anything that makes you upset isn't stupid, yeah?"
You nodded again as you leaned your cheek into his warm palm.
"Of course not." He continued, "Now why don't you tell me what this something is, hm? I want to help you."
William could tell that you were still a little embarrassed, but felt soothed by his words. Tears were still in the corner of your eyes as you thought about what you wanted to say.
"In my dream, I..." you peeped out, "We finally got to go out on a date. Like, a real one. Outside somewhere nice. And... And I spent hours and hours getting ready. And I was so excited and..."
You had to pause for a moment, a few stray tears falling down your cheeks.
"And when I showed up, I... Y-You were there too and you told me I took too long... And that I was always messing everything up and that I made things too difficult and..."
You had to swallow back a sob to keep going.
"A-And that you didn't love me anymore..."
William watched as you lifted up your hands to wipe away your tears, but quickly stopped you. He leaned forward closer to you again, cradling your face close to his.
"Bunny, look at me." He instructed you, looking deep into your teary eyes.
"I will never," he continued, his tone serious yet soft, "and I mean ever stop loving you, little one. Not for as long as I live. I will never leave you ever. You're the only one for me, bunny. You know this."
You sniffled, "I-I know, but... S-Sometimes I just get worried that... You're getting frustrated that I can only really come over on the weekends, a-and that we gotta be like... lowkey. And that I'm too busy and that I sleep too much, and..."
"No, bunny no. I'm never frustrated with you, love. Your uni is important, and I know how hard you work. I love that about you. I love how driven you are. Of course you're going to be tired, bunny, I understand. And I love having you here on the weekends. I cherish every moment with you."
You shook your head a little, "I just... I don't want you to get bored of me and... f-find a new bunny. That's better than me."
William felt his heart break a little more, leaning forward to capture your lips in another kiss. He made this one longer, more drawn-out than normal, and poured every ounce of his love into it before pulling away. He looked right into your eyes, again, gently grabbing your chin so you wouldn't look away.
"You're my bunny, love." He said, "No one else could ever come close to you. I'd never replace you, because I love you. Only you. And there's absolutely no one that could ever replace you. You're my everything, little one. I love you more than I can describe."
The brit wiped away more of your tears as he saw you smile again. Tiny, but it was there.
"I don't know who this mean version of me is," He continued, "But he can go to hell. He doesn't belong in my bunny's head."
Your smile grew, "It's just a dream, Will."
He let out a hum, "So you know I'd never say those things then, hm?"
You nodded as he leaned down to you again, giving you another kiss.
"Good. Now, come here, love."
William pulled you close to him again as he reached over to the nightstand, shutting off the lamp as he lied down with you. His arms around your waist, he held you tighter than normal close to his chest, close enough to where he could feel your heartbeat against his.
He made sure you fell asleep peacefully before allowing himself to drift off.

Joly + 18, 22, & 12 for the ask game!
Nonny that was so fast omg
12. What's a headcanon you have for this character? All of the Amis keep some secrets from their parents but Joly just. Lies constantly. So So So Much Lying. He's honest about his illnesses and his problems with studies but everything else is just shameless prevarication all the way down. it's not that he thinks his folks would be mad about anything , although something ah hahaha yyyyeah they would , but mostly he just know they'd fuss. They'd Worry. They'd have So Much Advice. It's just so much easier to lie! He is not a writer but he's made up more stories than Prouvaire and with a more complex interconnected backstory. At this point his friends also enjoy hearing about what Hypothetical Joly is getting up to.
18. How about a relationship they have in canon with another character that you admire? I like most of the people he actually has a relationship with in canon so let's go with Mother Hucheloup: I think he's her favorite of the group, because he's mostly well behaved--for a Parisian college student-- and he Actually Pays For Things, but more than that he's just kind her favorite--not like a kid she might have had but like a favorite nephew, maybe, not that she's had a nephew, but she can guess. And his jokes make sense, not like those two friends of his. Hmph.
22. If you're a fic reader, what's something you like in fics when it comes to this character? Something you don't like? I like it when people make him cheerfully Very Weird :D He's Eccentric! quite a loaded term for his era! Nearly any Harmless Weirdness works for me with his character, especially if can be health focused-- syncing sleep to moon phases? Environmental Sound Sculpting? Dying his hair for Color Therapy? Sure! Anything! Although there's a special place in my heart for Joly looking utterly normal/bourgie and only upon entering conversation revealing that he's a complete freak (extremely affectionate <3)
#Joly is a sweet cheerful lying little weirdo freak wrapped in good tailoring and proper mannerisms. to me.#he's earnestly sweet and kind and good natured and he loves cats!#and he lives on an empire of lies to every authority in his life. Even Bahorel is impressed.#Joly#talk#thank you nonny#firing the headcanons#also I didn't mention things I don't like whoops#uh#mostly it's just sad that people don't write him more#I think people don't know what to do with him#please he's so fun if you think about him a little

hii zee!! 🤗 or ✨?
hello, nonnie! thank you so much for playing <3 just for shits and giggles, i'll answer both!
🤗 What advice would you give to new fanfic writers that are just getting started?
if i could give just one, it would be to write something you'd want to read yourself. it's easy to get caught up with the notes and the desire to write something that's palatable to the majority, and while it's perfectly valid and normal to want engagements, having that as your #1 reason for writing can get old very quickly. if you write something you'd want to read, you're instead fueled by intrinsic motivation, which is a lot more sustainable. i also find that that approach makes writing easier, since you're working on something you genuinely want to see to fruition. plus, it's pretty self-indulgent lol and why should we deny ourselves, amirite?
✨ Give you and your writing a compliment. Go on now. You know you deserve it. 😉
oh gosh LOL um. why is this so hard 😥 well, i think my writing, particularly as of late, has a good balance of setting up the story and being straightforward enough so as to not be dragging but also to allow for proper build-up. in other words, i think my pacing is generally pretty alright. i also think i'm gaining confidence in my characterization of bakugou, and am therefore more exploratory with him, so i guess that's another thing!
play with me: ˗ˏˋ fanfic writer emoji ask game ´ˎ˗
