what tips would you give someone who wants to be more comfortable on stage?

the next question really makes her think long and hard about how to answer. arin hadn’t always had confidence in herself, or even her skills really, so at times it was one of the things that nearly prevented her from actually being comfortable on stage until she managed to stop herself from overthinking. though she remembered back when her and seolmi had been doing the dance bootcamp with one another and how the other female had helped her at the time with the encouraging words she had given arin. it was from that point that arin started to become a bit more comfortable with not only being on stage but also helped with her confidence a bit as well.

“i would say just stay relaxed and don’t overthink things too much. seolmi, unnie once helped me with my lack of confidence and i believe that’s one thing that helps with being comfortable on stage. as long as you’re confident in yourself and what you can do, i believe you’ll be able to get through it all. from the experiences i’ve had on stage, i’ve done some breathing exercises before performing up on stage to help me calm my nerves.” she pauses for a moment before continuing. “being on stage can be nerve-wracking but as long as you have a clear mind and don’t let yourself think too much about the negative possibilities that could happen, i think you’ll be able to become more comfortable and manage to get through it all at least a little easier.” she offers a smile, rubbing the back of her head out of embarrassment. “sorry, i was rambling."

jiwoo feels a little silly, hidden behind a tiny kitchen play-set, wearing wolf ears and wolf paw gloves. to complete the look, she’s wearing a fluffy grey hoodie dress that reaches her knees, and has attached a wolf nose over her own using an elastic band that wraps around her head. underneath her dress, jiwoo is wearing most of her grandma costume -- the calf length checkered skirt is folded over and pinned up to keep it hidden, and her frilly shirt’s scalloped edge collar is unbuttoned almost to her bra so that it doesn’t peek out. it moves around a lot though. she’ll have to keep an eye on it. her grey wig and apron are waiting for her in her quick change spot, all the way at the end of the trail through the entire daycare that acts as their stage.

yeah, she feels a little silly, but ... this was mostly her idea. seolmi suggested they do children’s theatre, and jiwoo, being her overachieving self, had ran with it and taken it too far. so now, she’s crouching down, wolfishly peering through the small gaps in the kitchen as she waits for her cue. 

seolmi is little red riding hood, so she gets to lead the kids through the daycare centre, and turn it into a woodland scene in their minds, aided by the meager paper props that they’d let the children help them construct. it’s jiwoo’s job to scare them.

she creeps out from behind the play set, hands first, wrapping around its back creepily, furry fingers moving one by one in a slow drum before she pops up fully. there’s a handful of gasps and squeals from the children crowded in front of seolmi as she grins, teeth bared sharp and evil, eyes narrowed. jiwoo comes to full height with a graceful spin, changing her facial expression from scary to approachable as she turns. she waves at seolmi’s back and calls out, “yoohoo! are you lost?”

it will remain a great mystery -- a miracle, in fact, on how both of them found the perfect time in their already busy schedules. nevertheless, charlie was relieved that she was not the only who wanted to make something for their... fans. the very thought that she had those still gives her butterflies, or maybe the right word to describe it is shy. now, would be the right time to do, the last few times had been hectic and they all still made time to show their support.

as always, this could be done the easier way, as charlie would like to put it, buy some pre-made diy sets and follow instructions. that would be practical and convenient, in every sense. but it wasn't how she pictured herself 'giving back' to be. and besides, she's a decent baker... actually, no, if there was anything she was most confident in it would be baking and cooking. and with that confidence she managed to convince seolmi ( @lgcseolmi ) to a quick trip to the supermarket for supplies and back at their dorm.

charlie was double checking everything, lining them up on the table. "you know, we could just go with the diy stuff instead, what do you think?" she looks over to seolmi with a smile, "i could just make cookies with these later on. and valentine's day is right around the corner so i'm sure i could make other stuff with it too for..." she had told herself time and time again to be careful, but it just came out naturally. "for friends."

on january 11, LGC Agency newcomers are given details on their new rooming situation. their new dorms are situated in yongsan-gu, close to the new legacy entertainment building, only a couple of streets away from the han river.

“remember when you were little?” his mother asks over the phone. “how you made hand-made chocolate for that girl in your class for valentine’s day because you didn’t know the holiday was meant for girls to give chocolate to the guys they like?” 

“yes,” he replies, laughing, his stomach clenching at the memory of a tentative first love. “and you didn’t tell me until after i did it!” 

“it was very cute,” she insists. “and if i remember, she loved it.” 

“mhmm,” he says, and waits for a moment before changing the subject to safer, less nostalgic topics.

it’s always been a thing with hyunseok, expressing his feelings through food. recipes, he finds, are often easier to grapple with than words—less of a chance to be misunderstood this way, as long as everything tastes fine and doesn’t make the other person sick. it doesn’t take much to convince hyunseok to make his friends and family their favorite dish, no matter how difficult or time-consuming. cooking for people he likes as more than just friends happens rarely, but hyunseok approaches it with the same kind of energy and enthusiasm. it’s his love language: i like you, and i want you to eat well. 

his success rate varies. the valentine’s chocolate girl had enjoyed the candy, but told hyunseok she just didn’t see him that way. “you’re sweet, but in a friend way,” she said, and hyunseok stared at the smear of chocolate on the corner of her mouth while trying not to choke on the jagged shards of his broken heart. the memory’s bittersweet, but he hasn’t let that deter him from pouring his heart into dishes. they’re always the focal point of any confession—his heart on a plate, so to say. 

but with seolmi, it’d been spontaneous. no dainty, hand-made valentine’s chocolates wrapped up in a pretty bow, to hyunseok’s immense regret. just post-practice comfort and familiar heart-to-hearts that tipped into new, uncharted territory he’s still trying to figure out how to navigate. he’s pretty aware of his strengths and his shortcomings, or so he likes to think. there are things hyunseok is good at (cooking) and things he’s not (relationships). maybe it comes down to experience: he’s made himself comfortable in the kitchen over the last ten-odd years, while his romantic history is spotty at best. 

he doesn’t want his inexperience or his clumsy feelings to ruin things, and so he falls back on what he knows best. with a box in hand, hyunseok searches for seolmi at the building. nerves make his palms clammy, fear of rejection (or worse, a that was nice, but i like you in a friend way) casting a shadow over his thoughts. a part of him worries, will always worry that he’s not enough or not right in situations like these, but hyunseok knows he has to learn how to ignore it. what good is sabotaging something before it has a chance to grow? 

hyunseok would rather focus on the sense of anticipation building in his veins, the hope nestled in his heart, the desire to see seolmi smile when she opens the box to see the tiniest token of his affection, a promise that hyunseok is in this for real. 

his face splits into a grin when he finally spots the familiar head of blonde hair. “seolmi!” he calls out, bounding over eagerly. the box is momentarily forgotten. he makes it a few steps before checking himself and slowing his pace to make sure he doesn’t jostle its contents more than necessary. “hey, are you free right now? or… free for a while?” maybe he should’ve asked if she’s hungry instead. it seems more fitting. “it’s fine if you’re busy, but i just had—it’s not a big deal or anything, but i just wanted to give you something.”

hello friends.

After a few weeks of having this girl in my head, I’m super excited to introduce my second character: Yamashita Ichika. Very similar to her FC Sakura, she was an idol back in Japan before coming to Korea-- however, unlike the real life Sakura, who is a presh weirdo, under Ichika’s pretty mask is a selfish, antagonistic girl, who did not come to Korea to make friends. Since my other character Seolmi is a very good natured person, I thought it’d be fun to have a girl who isn’t fully misunderstood, she’s just kinda mean and out for herself. I’m sure she’ll have some growth one way or another (maybe open up a little) but I hope we can do this together!! I also realize she might a a little hard to plot with initially, but I’m sure we can work something out!

QUICK OOC NOTE   ‧ ‧ ‧  this is something i used to do on other muses ( modeled after an old friend ), so i’ll be making the addition here. this is a nice way to keep up with your character and their developments - so i definitely recommend ! it’s fun and interesting to see how your muse grows, and since jiao’s 1 MONTH passed here at legacy, i figured now would be a good time to start. i’ll try to do this often, towards the end of the month, but we’ll see how that goes  👍

NOTES FROM THE PAST (2018): jiao auditioned for legacy entertainment not thinking she would give in. she tried, as she feared the wrath of her mother, but was heartbroken when she was accepted and moved to seoul. this adjustment was difficult for her. while she had experience with korean prior to her move, learning to use it everyday was a challenge. she was also on her own for the first time ever, so she faced some behavioral problems in adjusting to trainee life - lowkey hoping she’d get kicked out and sent back home. however, she was too afraid to do anything to bad so she was mainly just lazy pretty much, maybe the occasional minor rule break. notorious for her flings & love for a good party.

CURRENT: she’s definitely calmed down a lot since her first year as a trainee. after being inspired by nana, she decided to take this training a bit more seriously and committed herself to a healthy routine of training and of course partying on the weekends when she feels like it. during class, she’s  usually still laid back and has never been one to overachieve or be a kiss ass. never skips training like she used to, and focuses a bit more. career wise, she’s not sure what she’s doing.but her mother thinks she’s there to be an actress; jiao would like to keep it that way.

after becoming a trainee, it was unsurprisingly easy for her to socialize and make friends. people like miso, ahin, jongsuk, eunji, jinah, elly, hunji, jueun, shinha, and yeoreum inspire her to be better and house close relationships with the girl. sunhee sparks a drive within her that she didn’t think existed, while jiae makes her want to be irresponsible and reckless. 

jiao is confronted with a misunderstanding between her and seolmi, as well as the risky situation of appearing on king’s v-live. 

she’s got a bad habit for holding grudges, and seungjae was unlucky enough to find this out in the most odd situation. 

jiao kinda sucks with any romantic issue - as seen in her constant string of flings (old and new), alex, and dana who's feelings for her seem to fly right over jiao’s head. she’s always been told to focus on her career rather than relationships and affection, but somehow her relationship with mike has become confusing, at least for her. friend with benefits ended up being way too confusing for her, and she’s kind of lost on what to do.

her mother has come to see her once since her move to seoul, and jiao is disheartened by the fact. at little homesick and missing her mother, the woman is becoming curious as to why it seems she has dropped on her mother’s priority list.

“I am sorry.” 

The apology felt like a cheap one, considering it was only three simple words. Yonghwa, had this been a few months prior, would have offered more. At the very least, he would have said don’t be mad, I’ll make dinner for us. Or go clinging onto his grandmother’s arm and ask her to intervene on his behalf because he knew all of his childhood friend’s weaknesses. Except now he couldn’t make those promises, because he had literally come home tonight to grab something. Right after, he would have to leave.

Somethings had to change. After all, they weren’t high school kids anymore, with nothing on their minds except homework, the latest dramas, and who was fighting with which teacher. 

“I can’t believe you ripped your skirt like that.” Yonghwa shook his head, casually showing his disapproval as he took a seat upon the grass field. It was summertime and a perfect, beautiful afternoon. He shrugged off his jacket earlier so a certain someone (@lgcseolmi​) could tie it around her waist and cover up the little accident. There was a rumor going around school a while ago saying Seolmi was cursed with bad luck and by now, even Yonghwa was buying into it. Nobody ran into trouble quite like she did. 

“Hurry up, the ice cream is going to melt.” Since her hands were preoccupied, he was holding onto her cone as well as his own. In the plastic bag dangling off of his wrist, there was one more for Seyoon because Yonghwa was a loving person who never allowed his older brother to miss out on treats. “One of the guys on my soccer team got a peek. Must have liked what he saw because he asked me for your phone number. What do you think? He’s decent looking and pretty tall.”

❀ Performance Solo ❀ Reference video (0:00 - 1:27) ❀ Word Count: 663 words

     The choreography that Arin had decided to do for her performance portion of the event was definitely tough to learn, also not being something she was really used to doing, though with enough practice and her own determination she had managed to get all of the moves down perfectly. She had spent a few late nights in the practice room just to perfect the dance, also thankful towards the dance instructor for helping her with a few of the moves as well. Maybe it was because she had wanted to be better at dancing that she had chosen something a little more on the difficult side, though maybe it was because she wanted to see how far she could push her limits to see just how far she could go. Either way she was glad that she had gotten the whole choreography down a few days before the deadline for this performance.

     She had learned from Seolmi, during their dance bootcamp, to be more confident in herself, to show that confidence through her dancing, and that’s exactly what she was doing now as the music began playing. Arin gets into position, no time to sit and actually take time to have any doubts about her performance due to the actual choreography starting off right away. She dances just as she had been practicing, each movement she does flowing nicely as she dances. Her confidence showing through each move as she does this, her body instantly taking over as it remembers everything she had learned over the past few weeks.

     Arin doesn’t hesitate, not even once, as her body moves. Even her expressions as she dances match up with the mood of the song and dance and for once she actually feels as if she had made the right choice when it came to something. Yeah, she was someone who could easily start up a conversation, easily make friends if she wanted to, though her confidence when it came to dancing was usually low due to not actually being much of a dancer. If she had to choose a skill to show off that she was a hundred percent confident in, it would definitely be either her vocals or even her rapping skills.

     When she had been deciding on what to even do for the performance, Arin really wasn’t worried about the ‘prize’ that had been mentioned to the trainees. She was more worried about improving herself and doing better, to gain some more needed experience through this whole experience. She wouldn’t be mad if she didn’t win the said prize, really if she managed to just pull this performance off nicely that would be enough for her.

     As she continues she doesn’t mess up, not even missing a single beat as she dances. Thankful towards all of the time she had to actually prepare for this, thankful that she had those who had helped her get through the rough patches while even trying to learn everything she had during the past few months of this whole bootcamp experience. She just hoped that those who were watching her right now were enjoying her performance and she figured that maybe that’s why some of them were smiling as she danced. Maybe after this whole thing was over she would have even more confidence in her own dancing skills, work harder to be able to better both herself and her skills.

     Finally the dance comes to an end and she does the last little pose, trying to keep her breathing steady as she counts in her head before finally turning to face everyone. She puts her usual cheerful smile on and bows politely. This was probably going to be one of the best memories she would remember for the rest of her life. The moment where she had showed off the confidence she had learned to have, thanks to Seolmi. She would have to remember to thank the other later when she got the chance to.

MASTERCHEF LEGACY

SCHEDULE TYPE: ONE TIME GIG

following several weeks of casting with JTBC, the main PD of the show has selected 36 participants for the first season of MASTERCHEF LEGACY.

individually, trainees have been notified of their participation in the show, day of filming, place of filming and their partner. JTBC has confirmed a payment of 603,000 KRW for participation (due to split income with the company, trainees will be paid 301,500 KRW each).

last season, participants faced off against 3 other teams to try to impress the 3 judges with their dishes and teamwork after being given a curveball. here are the winners of each face offs:

Episodes 1-2: Blue Team (Ahn Dohwan x Ok Miyoung)

Episode 3-4: White Team (Kim Jinah x Kim Jinseo)

Episode 5-6: Yellow Team (Li Zimeng x Moon Sua)

this season, each team will once again participate in a two-episode challenge. they will face off against 3 or 4 other teams and try to impress the 3 judges with their dishes and teamwork in order to win. each week, the teams will have to recreat some of the hardest dessert, with just 2 minutes to study the recipe. they have 120 minutes to prepare for service, and will then have to serve a total of 10 people (including the judges).the judges will have the final say after tasting every dish.

lgc:musicalmission. part two. it’s rehearsal time! get in loser, we’re running lines. also jiwoo’s hair is black rn but look how pretty hyunjin is <3 word count: 332.

there are a lot of people who wouldn’t be happy to be delegated to a chorus member, or who would curse the actor they’re understudying for everyday in hopes that they actually break a leg, but not jiwoo. with being in the chorus comes camaraderie. there’s people here she already knows, of course -- seolmi, other people under lgc agency, a couple of faces she recognises from the choruses of some other recent productions that she’s tagged along to, sitting in the cheapest seats -- but there are new faces, and new friends. people from outside of her company, new connections. it’s a big step in the right direction.

but it’s not all about the connections she can make. as attractive as the idea of her face becoming relatively recognizable is, even if it is only within the lowest ranks of the musical theatre scene, it isn’t the highlight of coming to rehearsals everyday. jiwoo feels at home when she’s at her apartment, of course she does. they’re nice and settled in now, and she’s been saving up for so long that she doesn’t have to worry about rent for another couple of months at least. but, there’s a special feeling that washes over her when she slides into the rehearsal studio every morning. everyday, the cast grows closer, and everyday, she falls in love with each and every member of her little chorus troupe a teeny tiny bit more. 

she’s running janis lines alongside the principle janis, who she’s gotten along with really well so far. there’s no animosity between them. frankly, getting the opportunity to understudy in her debut production is already a pretty sweet deal, so she’s more than happy to work alongside the principle actor. it’s interesting, to get a closer look at what she thinks of her character, especially since janis has been a pretty difficult character for jiwoo to understand.
