Wonwoo did not expect to find himself in the situation he was in. When he offered to help put some lights up outside, he did not imagine half of his body to be encased in a string of gold and white orbs. It was a simple task; wrap the lights around a few columns near the front door and be done.

Why did he have to make things so complicated?

However, seeing the look of happiness and humor on your face, he thinks maybe it was a sweet serendipity to be stuck. Someone so beautiful as you being so enamored with him, enamored enough to bring him home for the holidays to meet your family, he feels lucky even in his unluckiest moments.

Like right now, his ticklish spots exposed and vulnerable for you to exploit. Of course, he will let you do as you please because he can't say no to you ever, but he has to act like he's putting his foot down sometimes.

Christmas caroling was not in your usual list of holiday celebrations, but because Jeonghan loves to sing and share his festive spirit with others, it’s only natural you accompany him and the school choir on their mission to spread joy around the town.

Are you completely off-key? Yes. Does your voice clash with the rest of the talented singers in the group, your new boyfriend included? Extremely.

That doesn’t stop you from singing the classics with as much cheer and fervor as those around you. Some girls roll their eyes, the fellow boys cringe hearing you attempt the high notes, but Jeonghan is too blinded by his rose-colored glasses to see you as anything but incredibly adorable. Especially right now, your voice breaking on the ending note of “All I Want for Christmas Is You.”

By the dozenth house, the chorus is ready to give up. Jihoon nudges Jeonghan in the arm and looks pleadingly at him. “Dude, can you please tell her to tone it down?” He whispers to his friend. “It’s admirable but like cats fighting in an alley.”

“Let her have her fun,” Jeonghan chides, “the whole point is to spread holiday cheer, bad singers or not.”

Jeonghan moves back over to your side, somehow being swept in around the better singers some time ago, and puts his arms around you. “Hold me,” he says with finality, the words a statement rather than a question.

You oblige, grinning and squeezing his arms with yours around your waist. “Feeling the Christmas spirit?”

Jeonghan chuckles and kisses your cheek, his lips providing warmth to your cold cheek. “You could say that.”

To be late on the most iconic entry. #2 chronologically but the first written. The Lion, the Witch, & the Wardrobe. I'm guessing a lot of people have read this one or seen the movie and none of the others in the Chronicles of Narnia and that's normal. Don't like to reference this one a lot for obvious reasons but it is very comparable to a certain boy wizard's first quest to find the Philosopher's Stone. By which I mean it's a more self-contained story that ultimately ends up being one of the weakest in the series. And that's a good thing! CS Lewis had more experience with the others.

Not to undersell LW&W. Is it a super complex plot? No, it's WW2 London's equivalent of an isekai anime. Complete with the kids from our world being absurdly powerful because wish fulfillment. Forget the Jesus lion, the sheer audacity to deadass have Santa Claus show up as an ally to arm our heroes with badass fantasy weapons is a choice. A powerful choice you have to respect. Narnia itself is more the appeal than the paint-by-numbers story of overthrowing an evil witch queen. The talking animals, the whimsy you're just supposed to roll with.

What I will say is already here you see Lewis's strong suit. Comparisons to Tolkien always focus on worldbuilding, but Lewis always had him beat for dialogue and character in the narration. I like the motif of the narrator always remarking as one of the kids go into the iconic wardrobe "they didn't close it because it's silly to shut yourself in a wardrobe." The banter between the four siblings is always solid and very, very real for children their ages. Peter's a solid eldest brother, Susan the surrogate mother figure but still naive, Edmund's a great little shit, and Lucy's a sweetheart baby sister through-and-through.

My favorite scene though is the one with Dr. Kirke, who you may remember as little Digory from The Magician's Nephew. Which is a cool connection to make and a theme we'll see all series. Not unlike Jojos honestly. The other kids go to him about their youngest sister being committed to this make believe world and Kirke...bemoans the lack of teaching logic before leading them realistically to the conclusion she might be telling the truth. That's where the idea the series is a light rumination of Christian philosophy comes in strong. Yes, it's an allegory for faith...but not beating you over the head with a specific kind. It's equally applicable to contemporary scientific advancement.

Before you can leave your bed to run into your living room, Dongmin cages you in his arms, the flannel fabric of his pajamas dragging against your skin. "You were just gonna leave without saying anything, huh?"

You giggle as he proceeds to tickle you, his touches against your stomach and hips too much to bear. "I would've came right back I swear!"

"Maybe I wanted you to kiss me first," Dongmin whispers in your ear, his hands ceasing their movements.

Vernon dusts off his jeans and shakes his head, his face a shade of pink from his blushing skin. "No, no, not at all. I'm having fun!"

You jut an eyebrow up. "Are you sure?"

He takes your hand in his and slowly tries to pick up speed again. "I may be bad at this, but that doesn't mean the night hasn't been great so far."

You chuckle again and hold him closer as you both create more distance from Vernon's last spot of defeat. "Maybe it's because I make you nervous."

Vernon ponders the thought as you keep skating around the rink.

Sure, he gets flustered every time you compliment him in art history class, he talks about you to friends like you hang the moon and did so before he ever shot his shot, and now, with your palm squeezing his, he may very well have a coronary.

"You make me nervous, that's true," he admits, "but only because of how much I like you already."

You turn your head so he can't see the reddening of your face. Once you keep your emotions at bay, you grin up at him and kiss his cheek, the action clearly stunning the poor man. "Likewise."

He stands stock still as you keep skating, actually retaining his balance to take in the reality that you just kissed him. "You coming?" You yell from a few feet away, smirking at the kid who's still solid in his position.

"It's not so bad," you mumble, trying to find some positives in the terrible icing and gumdrop placement.

He rolls his eyes, smiling. "Babe, it's okay to admit it's terrible."

"It's not! At the very worst it's got some character, you can't deny that," you say with a grin. You go back to your gingerbread masterpiece, the Van Gogh of baked decorations if he was gassing you up.

Your capacity to be positive and dedicated leaves him stunned half of the time. He never knew one person was capable of having both with such a gentle but strong, conviction-laced heart until you came into the picture.

It's why he likes you so much, maybe even loves you if he thought hard enough about it.

"Dang," you swear, "I ran out of blue—"

Leave it to you to save preparations for Christmas dinner until a few days before the big holiday. Everyone would be coming over to yours and Heeseung's new house, and given how much you wanted to impress your in-laws, procrastination gave way into full-on frustration.

Heeseung tried to offer his help, but you insisted on doing everything yourself. Even if it was as irritating as trying to twist tops off caps that would not budge and the like.

Heeseung tries to hold his laughter in, but the sound dies on his tongue when you swat his hands away. "Stop! Just—stop. I can do it."

"It's blueberry, actually," you say with a humored sniffle.

"Whatever! Just don't stress, please? It's going to be fine." He kisses your forehead before moving back to the kitchen counter, popping the lid off the can with ease. "Now let me help you."
