"Katara as a medical professional" this, "Katara studying medicine" that, meanwhile in canon she was much more active in a political sense than she was ever using her healing powers.
Fighting Pakku and the patriarchy at the North? Check. Guiding a very important political figure to where he needs to be in order to end the war? Check. Rallying earthbenders to free themselves from prison? Check. Helping Freedom Fighters (at first) with building structures they needed to fight the Fire Nation? Check. Stealing back securing a stolen cultural artifact? Check. Participating (even in) a rigged trial? Check. Discussing strategy with the Earth Kingdom's generals? Check. Destroying a polluting factory and rallying people to fight for their community? Check. Dispensing justice when there's no justice system in place? Check. Taking down an evil political leader? Check.
And while other characters participated in some of these actions too (such as Sokka in Aang's rigged trial), some in this, others in that, that doesn't change the fact that she did, consistently, in all of these.
-
Did she spend the Siege of the North walking around and just healing water tribe warriors? No.
Did she spend the entire Drill just healing earth kingdom soldiers while the rest of gaang took down the Drill? No.
Did she spend time in Ba Sing Se going to heal refugees while the rest of the gaang tackled the Earth King and Dai Li? No.
Did she stay behind the warriors in Day of the Black Sun to heal whoever gets injured in battle? No. She was waterbending on Appa in the front lines, destroying structures, stopping Fire Nation soldiers and making way for her forces. She just healed her dad when he was critically injured.
When it comes to healing, she at most did clutch heals. Which is why I headcanon her as going into politics later in life.
#headcanon;#controversial headcanon dislike;#atla analysis#katara#katara deserved better#katara in politics#strict canon analysis;#I respect and agree that anyone can like to headcanon her as going into medicine#I think canon material implies something else

Reasons Vanitas might pick a fight with someone:
• They pissed him off
• Their name is Aqua
• He is curious (like a cat)
• He is testing them somehow
• Their name is Ventus
• He is saying “Hello.”
• He is bored (like a cat)

Anonymous asked:
Got a headcanon for Sothis and her diets/preferred food?
I don’t think Sothis has an actual diet, except maybe pescatarian? The only meat she can, and will eat, and can stomach, is fish. Fish is what she eats, but not as often as the rest of her family.
As for preferred foods? Bread. Lots and lots of bread. French, brioche, sourdough, pumpernickel, rye, wheat, you name it. As well as plenty of fruits and vegetables as well! But with fruit, the more exotic, like dragonfruit or kiwi or passion fruit, the more likely she’ll eat it than the more common, like strawberries or apples.
Sweets in general she likes. Baked goods is higher on the scale more than actual candy. So its not uncommon to find Sothis in a bakery or a cafe for such treats.
Another thing she often consumes and likes is ambrosia, the food of the gods. Paired with nectar, of course.

I just think it's so neat that Kakyoin is ruthless and will not hesitate to kill someone he thinks deserves it and shrug it off like it was an average grocery store interaction, but also will look down on you for calling someone a mean name for no reason.
#the mindset: if you come at me or mine the consequences are ONE HUNDRED percent justified and civil. no returns.#sometimes a character is so full of love but also a disconnected void made of defensive apathy#but sometimes you gotta expedite the process to big judgement upstairs. it's permissible.#Headcanon;#I mean. kind of. it's more of an observation.

hi pwism , can you tell me what in a person would attract qiqi ( can be anything , physical , personality , etc ) , and what seemingly innocuous thing would be a deal-breaker ?
slightly depends on which AU we are talking about, but for the sake of simplicity, I will talk about the base universe.
Qiyana doesn't really have space to feel attraction in Ixtal. not because no one piques her interest, but because her only focus is her political schemes and the quiet mutiny she plots from the shadows. those drain too much of her attention, so it is easy for her to ignore or even not realize when she is being courted by a Yun Tal peer of hers or even a servant.
so an almost crucial part is for this person to be an outsider. someone she does not know, because those she does have a pre-conceived notion of her. the unreachable, cold princess. an outsider might find her cocky, or unpleasant, or arrogant, but they won't have the added context of Ixtali society, what her title means, and her political goals. it is a blank slate for them. which might seem controversial, as Qiyana yearns for everyone to know of the future Empress Qiyana, Yun above the Yun, but a part of her craves for people to see beyond the mask.
because that is all she wears, every day of her life. a mask of confidence. she knows she is powerful and intelligent, enough that she easily navigates through the political intricacies of the council with her charm, but a deep insecurity festers inside her gut. of not being enough. she has lost who she used to be before her obsession spread through her like a disease, and internally, as deep down as one can reach, she wants to find that woman again.
she wants someone who will look at her differently. someone who won't have fear or contempt in their eyes, but a challenge. Qiyana wants someone who is not afraid of pushing her buttons because the lack of context makes it so they truly don't know the height of her status or how quickly their words would land them in jail back in Ixaocan.
she yearns for a partner who will push her out of that comfortable cage she locked herself into. that makes her seek not what she wants but what she wants. someone who will take her hand and give her a forceful tug out of Ixtal. it's no wonder most of the characters I find interest in shipping her with are outsiders (Yasuo, Draven, Hwei, Ahri, etc). at least three of these would find amusement in riling her up, unafraid of how hurtful her bite might be.
but she also needs understanding. someone who knows when they're pushing too far. someone who realizes when she's hurting, because no one else has noticed the signs before. someone who won't find it ugly or offputting when she has a moment of weakness and finally cries all those tears she buried deep inside her chest. she is damaged goods, and she can't be fixed, but she can be loved by a tender heart and patient hands.
Qiyana is hard to love. she will insult and bite and push back in fear, in anger, in disbelief. she will feel betrayed by the smallest acts that bubble her jealousy up her throat. she just wants someone who can put up with her flaws. someone who doesn't force her to hide them behind a confident grin and a giggle hidden behind a perfectly manicured hand.
Qiyana wants someone to see her ugliness, her brutality, her vulnerability, and not leave despite how grotesque she was made to be.

(( Sharlene may be bad at battling but she LOVES watching them, like two complete randos could be battling in the street and she'll stop and watch (she'll even pick one to root for), she'll watch broadcasted gym battles when they're on TV or streaing, she just thinks it's SO cool and fun.
That's kinda why she wants to go to Galar someday, because the gym battles there are taken so seriously and she would KILL to sit in one of those giant stadiums and watch a gym leader dynamax a Pokemon or some shit.
You'd think this fascination with battling would make her a better trainer but. Nope. She cracks under pressure and you need to think fast when battling, and she just ends up panicking. She's trying to work on this because she wants to battle more (she's sure her team wants to as well), she's just. Nervous. ))

Rough Timeline For Sybok
NOTE: Given the fluidity of Star Trek canon the exact details such as ages, the role Sarek played in Sybok's early life, etc. I am open to discussing with partners in fact I respect it. This is primarily a rough timeline for my own reference and to use as a starting point when plotting.
Sybok was raised primarily by mother, T'Rea, and her clan. As to be expected from a former paramour* of Sarek, T'Rea was somewhat unconventional in her habits and raising of her son refusing to have him be bonded in childhood. A practice while considered the norm in much of Vulcan society is not without some controversy with some like T'Rea viewing it as illogical and primitive. T'Rea was also a Reldai, meaning her family could trace it's roots to before Surak and once held religious and political power.
Sybok's mother died when Sybok was in early adolescence. Despite being an exceptional student there were certain inconsistencies in Sybok's education aggravated by the upheaval caused by T'Rea's death and his being sent to join Sarek's household which left him vulnerable to certain feelings of vulnerability and even anger.
These unsuppressed emotions were not wholly 'negative' as Sybok did come to genuinely love his siblings Spock and Michael. His relationship with his siblings is significant as Sybok was able to observe first hand how they were treated differently than he was often for no apparent 'logical' reason. Furthermore many assumed that given Sybok's social status and being a full-blooded Vulcan he would approve or partake in such behavior which he always rebuffed.
As Sybok grew into adulthood he continued to excel academically but show signs of poor emotional control (Poor to Vulcan standards anyway). ** Sybok had also begun to make connections with others who had their doubts about Surak's teaching or at the very least did not embrace logic as the ultimate answer. By the time he'd reached adulthood Sybok was fully aware of his inability to fit into Vulcan society as expected and elected to leave Vulcan. *** It was during this period he entered a relationship with the human pirate, Angel.
At some point Sybok made the decision to return to Vulcan to advocate against the suppression of emotion. The civil unrest Sybok and his followers posed led to their imprisonment.
*It's possible Sybok's mother was Sarek's intended or who he was bonded to according to Vulcan custom with the engagement having been broken off for any number of factors.
** It's possible Sarek blamed himself for Sybok's emotional nature.
*** It's likely Sybok didn't inform anyone of his departure hoping to do so discreetly and without causing a scandal.

Due to Doll’s horrendous mother and her terrible acts of locking her in her room for whatever reason, Freja learned how to pick locks at such a young age. She would sneak out of her room and out of the house. Half the time she managed to make it back into her room without her mothers knowledge, but the other times she got caught and received worse punishment.
Her body is always covered in various healing bruises and littered in scars. She keeps herself covered much as possible, mostly as Freckles. As Doll it’s harder due to the construct of her costume, and most ballet outfits she dons. Makeup is heavily used, to cover all the injuries sustained and her freckles. It’s hard to not cover up freckles from how many bruises and scars she has, it would look sloppy and uneven, so it’s been decided early on to simply cover them up.
Her injuries continue over the years after joining the circus with her found family. Her mother always finds her, there’s never true escape. Doll does her best to hide but despite her efforts, she’s found. New scars and bruises appear and these she does her best to hide from the other members of the circus, especially the other first tier members. Except.. she fails. Primarily Joker is the one who finds out first and sworn to secrecy about them, but is more protective over Doll as a result.
From her mother’s constant abuse, Freja doesn’t have much self confidence. The abuse is a mix of everything: physical, mental, emotional. The last two go hand in hand, from snide remarks to near emotional dependency. The physical ranges from minor to severe, depending on her mothers mood. Doll has suffered fractured ribs, burns, lacerations. Nothing too severe, according to her mom, that would need a hospital visit. Though most injuries given did require a doctor. So most of Doll’s injuries never fully healed.
Freckles. She has big patches all over her body, hence her found name for herself. It’s fitting. It’s new. She can have her own personality, one that feels natural.
Candy. Doll always had a sweet tooth, and they’re more of a treat as they’re hard to come by. A rarity.

In my resurrection verse, Angeal becomes a vegetarian in order to align himself more with the Planet. He still makes an effort to find alternative sources of protein to maintain his physique. His new diet brings him much spiritual peace. On rare occasions, however, he allows himself to enjoy seafood as a way to feel closer to his father, a Costa del Sol native.

So, how's Bankai training coming along? Need any help from a mysterious shop keeper? ;) (redseamstress)
SEND MY MUSE CURIOUS ANONS!! | Accepting
Her expression soured slightly at the question. She could still remember her academy lecturers explaining the necessary requirements for officers, that a captain was required to achieve their Bankai before consideration, while vice captains only needed their shikai.
It seemed like a reasonable goal to attain, though back then a captaincy hadn’t been in her plan, nor was it now even. Still, it seemed more and more of her fellow fukutaichous were achieving their bankais, placing themselves within an elite status – and rendering those who had not yet successfully achieved theirs in some lower club. It didn’t matter how long she had held her rank, those who had been promoted after her were outpacing her in abilities.
She never cared about a captaincy.
But she did care about protecting those she loved.
And she was failing at doing that.
“Its…” she paused, clearing her throat, “going…” not rather well, nor bad…She sighed. “Haineko doesn’t want to but not for her normal reasons. She keeps retreating from me, saying things like ‘I shouldn’t push myself’ and telling me it’s useless. But it’s not useless…I feel useless. My shikai can only do so much, I can only do so much without a Bankai. I’m tired of feeling like a hindrance.”

you know, i can understand how and why William created Ballora as a dancer. Not to fill out "acts" in his animatronic circus, but because, in a way, Emelie did dance, unbeknownst to her.
Em just flies through the air, she does twirls, spins, leaps, any and all acrobatics airborne. Primarily the twirls and spins, the thing she does most because when there's no gravity, she has all that sort of freedom that trapeze comes with.
However, just because trapeze and ballet has similarities, she still hates being compared. Hence why she doesn't like Ballora, despite thinking her pretty.
So it's really the only thing that she's ever mad at William about.

Some Forgotten HCs Part 2
Sothis can cook. Just the very basics, like toast or pasta (under supervision). She can make salads, either greens ones or fruit ones. Those are the easiest. Anything else is a hit or miss, whether if it’ll taste good, or if it comes burned, if cooking is required. *Speaking of cooking, or rather lack of, Sothis consumes fish raw. Catch right out of the water and straight into her mouth. Sometimes bones and scales and all.
In her original body, in the beginning, Sothis did wear light colored clothing, as depicted in the mural. White, shades of white, creams, pastels, anything light and bright. Those were her go tos, paired with long, flowy, revealing dresses. She had no shame with how her body looked. * After the birth of Cichol however, her wardrobe switched to dark colors. Black, charcoal, royal blue and purples. The same color palette as she has now, after returning from Tartarus. But was phase her wardrobe once again changes, back to its original white/light color schemes.
Braids. Every single hairstyle Sothis ever worn involved a minimum of one braid. A little one, a large one of whole hair, what have you. Each adorned with her signature ribbons. However she cannot braid her own hair, she always has someone else do it for her but ironically enough, she can braid other people’s hair.
Sothis discovered a bleeding out Nemesis on her way to a nearby town from Zanado, and against her better judgement, nursed him back to health. Somehow she became attached and did in fact fall in love with him, though she’d never admit it. She couldn’t part from him, even when Nemesis became abusive or too grabby with her. Only her pregnancy made her make the move to leave him - by killing him.

I know I also mention this a lot but... Noriaki is not especially well composed, emotionally. He actually struggles a lot to handle strong emotions. We see several times in the story where heightened states of arousal make him start doing very stupid and reckless things. It isn't hard to yank his composure out from underneath him.
He isn't used to feeling such a broad range of things on such a large scale. He isn't used to caring about people to the degree that he comes to care about the others in his little travel group, and he's not used to constantly being on edge the way he needs to be during the journey. What he's familiar with is maintaining a detached distance from everything and everyone around him. The others in his class, or people at the store, news on the television, none of it can really touch him.
And sure, he's used to the kind of deep loneliness that a lot of people can't even imagine. It is a unique form of despair that he's come to carry, but that makes it all the harder to adjust.
What comes off as maintaining composure is, rather, struggling with how to appropriately express himself, or even to understand what he's feeling in the first place. The entire journey doubles as a strong dose of self discovery for him. For a character who is used to having only himself, who prides himself on knowing who he is in contrast to a world that never will, it's likely very disorienting to be so confused about what's happening inside of him.
His story resolves perfectly, I feel, with regards to these things. He makes a weapon of the loneliness that he'd accepted as "himself" his whole life. He faces that which had shaken him to his core, and boldly defends his friends, his hopes, his wishes, and all these feelings he couldn't have imagined months earlier. It's with this sort of introspection that we see him gain that clarity-- and composure-- that he hasn't really actually had throughout the story up until that point.
