it was a carefully-hidden jab; the kind stannis has never had much patience for, yet ran RAMPANT amongst the lords and ladies of king's landing. if he were renly, he might've return the affront with a smile. or if, gods forbid, he were robert, the party would've grinded to a HALT from angry shouting & threats.

ㅤthough, stannis' tone lacked its usual sharpened steel edge - not enough for most to notice, but davos surely will. it's still a wonder to the him how his onion knight had been so shocked when stannis was to name him his Hand. as if any other man in the seven kingdoms was as HONEST & capable as davos seaworth.

ㅤstannis doesn't say as much, however. he's never been good with sentiment, preferring to drown in words & wishes he can't say or act on.

HEAD : was your muse closer to one of their parents, was equally close to both, or resented them? 

stannis has never really been particularly close with anybody. but between steffon and cassana, he definitely gravitated toward his mother. robert and steffon were very much alike - both embodying the more HAUGHTY habits of a baratheon. stannis didn't really like spending much time with robert, so by extension, he didn't spend much time with their father.

but cassana was much more mild-mannered, and she understood stannis' introverted ways more than robert or steffon. she allowed him to go off on his own when things got too rowdy, and indulged his hobby of reading and learning about history. stannis was pretty young when his parents died, but the loss of his mother hit him especially hard.

SIGHT : how is your muse’s sleeping schedule? do they have a regular sleeping pattern, or if not, do they even want to have one? does your muse sleep easily, or prefer to be awake for as long as they possibly can?

stannis' sleep schedule can be described in one word: sporadic.

he finds it very difficult to slow down enough to sleep - he would prefer to just keep working until he physically couldn't anymore, but people always seem to convince him to take a break once in a while (cressen, davos, etc). stannis works very late into the night and wakes early in the morning, most days. he's not the type to stay in bed while there are things to be done.

though, once in a blue moon, i like to think stannis just. doesn't wake up in the morning. like his brain is keeping him asleep because dammit, he's pushing himself too hard and he's going to sleep whether he likes it or not. on these days, stannis finally wakes up around noon - groggy and pissed off but very well-rested.

and despite not liking to sleep so long into the day, stannis is noticeably in a better mood for the next couple days. it's almost as if a lot of his grumpiness is due to lack of sleep....

ㅤhe remembered, long ago, the young targaryan girl he'd been sent to capture after her father and brother were killed. she'd been a babe then, & years later, a wife to some dothraki horselord that robert wanted dead. it was eddard stark that URGED the king to let her live, seeing her as a child a whole continent away.

it's actually quite RARE for stannis to fall asleep immediately after sex. once the deed is done, he tends to fret a little. stannis is not known for his soft words or touches, so he shows his care in other ways. fetching water or clean clothes. drawing a bath or having the servant bring a meal. even when his lover falls asleep, he doesn't follow behind. he'll stay until they sleep before getting out of bed - likely to work and pull his mind back on something he's good at and familiar with.

but, in times when stannis is convinced to stay - whether from weariness or his lover's sweet words - he lets them take the lead when it comes to sleeping positions. stannis isn't too comfortable with physical contact, even with a lover, but i can imagine he'll be fine with them curling up beside him, using his chest or shoulder as a pillow as they drift off. if stannis is feeling particularly SOFT at the moment, he may lean his head against theirs. though, he wonders if the breath he wafts over their hair would bother them, even in sleep.

💭 - Which sexual desire are they too embarassed about to tell anyone? And in which situation would it be obvious enough to show?

to be honest, any of stannis' sexual desires are too embarrassing to talk about. he's very uncomfortable merely feeling them and thinking about them, much less talking about it with someone.

i think for stannis, any thought that's outside of the "vanilla missionary man-on-top" role is almost TABOO for him. he's never really had much chance to really learn and explore how enjoyable sex can be. he strictly knows the basics, leaves the room whenever men start speaking filth, and selyse has never really inspired him to do more.

but if i had to pick a specific desire, it would probably be going down on his partner - something so simple but also unspeakable for someone like stannis. it was start of "innocent" enough - perhaps he enjoys looking at his lover's thighs and waist. when things start to get heavy, he touches them. thinks about kissing them. licking them. and it really evolved from there.

and honestly, any situation where stannis is strung out and barely able to think would really highlight this simple desire. he may start kissing down his lover's body, paying special attention to their hips, gripping their thighs tightly, but not quite going the extra mile. stannis is mostly just worried about messing up and making a FOOL of himself.

Not to be annoying but how would Stannis react to having Renly not try to rise up but instead offer to help gather men, seeing that he is the more charismatic of the two. Would he be up for the alliance or would he find the offer condescending?

🔥 stannis would absolutely have allied with renly if renly had given him that option.

that's, of course, assuming renly acknowledged stannis as the true heir after robert's death. stannis did offer renly to be his heir until he had a son, as well as keeping a seat on the council once stannis was king. stannis knew that having renly as an ally would've been hugely beneficial, and the only reason it didn't happen was because renly staked a claim on the throne.

stannis definitely wouldn't have found it condescending because they're from the same house. they're brothers. stannis isn't weighed down by pride like a lot of other lords are - he would've seen renly's popularity as a tool, and tools should not go to waste if they have a purpose.

his response was stony as ever, but when stannis' focus falls back down to the scrolls that sit before him, he's careful to STIFLE the urge to smirk. it's often easy to forget the plain-spoken nature of davos seaworth, despite being made a lord.

though, perhaps that nature is why stannis can TOLERATE his company.

it's well-known through the realm that stannis isn't a man to be scared easily. when faced with blood & iron, he doesn't flinch. any battle can be enough to make any sane man HESITATE - by that logic, one could say that stannis is quite insane.

social situations tend to give him pause, though. he's very withdrawn, & in contrast to both his brothers, stannis very much HATES the spotlight. i wouldn't say he's scared of social interactions, but if something were to happen that would publicly embarrass him, stannis may lock himself away for a few days to get his head on straight.

though, if i had to give an answer, i think stannis' greatest fear is bending his own morals. being in a DESPERATE enough place where he needs to break the law, go against justice, actively HARM his kingdom - that's not something he can do easily. especially with the war & winter rearing its ugly head, stannis is most afraid of what he may have to do to secure the throne.

hope?

what has hope ever done for anybody, really? it may bring COMFORT to young soldiers fighting a battle their lords wage, or mothers carrying child, or little girls whose dreams are molded by songs.

hope has never been something stannis RELIES on. it's not that he thinks hope is something weak or useless - he can see a practical purpose for hope in others who hold no iron-clad convictions. they need something to strive to; a pretty picture at the end of the hall.

stannis has GOALS. stannis looks toward the future. stannis knows what needs to be done, how to do it, and what it will cost him and his kingdom. that's not hope, in stannis' eyes - it's simply duty.

concept of home and family

it's safe to say stannis has no real concept of a home that's his or a family he belongs to.

storm's end was HOME as a child - though, that slipped through his fingers with the death of his parents, and later, during the siege of his brother's rebellion. and when robert gave storm's end to renly, stannis took it as a SLIGHT against him personally, rather than losing a home to his brother. he hated king's landing - with all its games and filth and degeneracy. and then dragonstone was like salt in the wound. stannis hasn't felt the true COMFORT of home for a very long time. though, he tells himself he doesn't need it.

his concept of family is definitely much more...complicated. the memory of his mother and father is fading with age, robert held no real love for him. renly was the closest thing to family stannis has ever had - until his younger brother tried to usurp the throne and DRASTIC measures were taken. his loveless marriage with selyse produced three stillborn sons until...

well, shireen is definitely the closest person stannis is connected to in terms of family. he LOVES his daughter more than he can say ( quite literally - stannis isn't good with words. ) he never truly thought of family as very important apart from lineage and allies.

but stannis will always be an outcast. his concept of home crushed between death and war, and his concept of family makes him feel like an outsider. stannis mostly feels ALONE in the world, clinging tightly to his sense of honor and justice because what else does he have?

he has shireen. though, stannis tends to distance himself from even his ISOLATED daughter. it's just easier, that way.
