Tbh it would be a terrible retcon writting wise? Because when preteens bully smaller kids yeah its bad but given how it's extremely realistic for tweens to be edgy and try to prove they're superior and no longer infantiles, the situation can be played for laughs and character showcase, like oh this spoiled tween and his friends are bullying these weird kids in cartoonish ways because they find them cringy and they want to feel cool but they slowy start to mature and get along with them. But nearly legal adults bullying 8-10 year olds is just awkward? Like just off in a kinda pathetic way, and Roy being nearly a legal adult would make the fact that he sent two little middle schoolers with his creep uncle to "trick" them a lot worse

Even just leaving this aside, it wouldn't make sense with what was Already presented of them?? Why would Jaune be worried stick that her 17 year old son is alone during halloween? And Jaune is more or less (I think less?) the age of Lila so at what age did she have that mf? And also they're clearly meant to be contemporaries with Susie and she's canonically a tween who can't live alone without an adult so yeah unless it is specifically stated on the show those fuckers aren't anywhere near 18 lmao 😭
