the brunette stands in the kitchen, preparing lunch for the both of you when you hear the sound of chopsticks falling from his hands. after picking them up with his evol, he turns slowly to face you, showcasing a nonchalant expression — though his growing smile and the light flush on his cheeks betray that nonchalance.

“yeah? to what do i owe this love declaration?”

you stand up and stride towards him quickly, with a grin plastered on your face now. 

“i love you, caleb. i love you!”

he chuckled, the blush on his cheek becoming more and more prominent. putting down the cooking utensils, he leans against the counter and crosses his arms in front of his chest, a smug expression on his face. 

“love you too, pips. did you break one of my model airplanes? is this your attempt at softening the blow?”

now it's your turn to giggle a bit while shaking your head. even if you did break one of his things, caleb wouldn't ever be mad, and he's made sure you knew that. you get even closer to him, looking up at his curious eyes — he really held the universe within them.

“i love you! i love you i love you i love you, i loooooove you!!”

caleb was at a loss. akin to a puppy, he tilted his head in lovestruck confusion. hearing you tell him you love him unprompted was so very welcomed, but he still couldn't shake off the shyness overcoming him, or the rosy red blush taking over his face.

it's not like he didn't know you loved him. you always went above and beyond to let him know. bookmarking recipes using his favorite type of apples, sending him puppy videos that reminded you of him, the little trinkets and matching items you'd send over to his place in skyhaven with little "i miss you always" notes — he felt loved, though a bit undeserving of your devotion.

his job as a colonel within the fleet forced him to do some.. unsavory stuff that you wouldn't have tolerated from anyone, except caleb wasn't just anyone. time and time again, you reassure him that no matter what he's done, no matter what demons he's fighting on his own, he'll always have a place to come home to. your love is unconditional, and you'll always be there welcoming him with open arms.

in return, caleb showered you in love too. never too shy to declare how much he adored you, always spoiling you (if he was going to do unethical things within the fleet, he sure as hell was going to get paid accordingly) and making sure you felt loved, no matter if he was up in skyhaven or by your side in linkon. he's in the deepspace tunnel? no need to worry, because he made sure you'd receive a delivery of your favorite flowers daily, with little love letters he carefully wrote for you to read. craving his signature braised chicken wings? in your fridge was a box of them that he made sure to prepare before he took the train back to skyhaven. if he wasn't there in person, you could hug the little airplane plushie he spritzed with his cologne, and when he was there? you'd feel the warmth of his embrace whenever your heart desired.

but man, hearing you confess your love to him in such a straightforward manner would always make his heart skip a beat. he's pulled out of his thoughts by the sound of you clearing your throat and wrapping your arms around his neck.

“earth to my pilot? i love you.”

caleb smiles genuinely and wraps his arms tightly around your waist in return, relaxing into you. his face hides in the crook of your neck when you feel a droplet of water on your skin, and you swear you could hear a slight sniffle — but before you can look down at him and ask what's wrong, you get interrupted by a soft kiss on the underside of your jaw.

“i love you too. more than you'll ever know.”

He’d rush out at three in the morning to satisfy your pregnancy cravings, rub your swollen feet and calves in your later pregnancy. The colonel would even press his face into your pregnant belly, feeling the little one kick. Caleb is ecstatic.

He’s prepared with a hospital bag as soon as you go into labor, and safe to say, he was nervous. He’d hold your hand through your child’s birth, kissing your forehead and wiping away sweat from your body. Caleb will whisper words of love and encourage—it’s heartbreaking to see his pipsqueak in pain. He’ll stick up for you and defend your requests to pushy or overbearing nurses and doctors; your husband won’t let ‘hospital policy’ ruin your birth experience.

You give birth to a tiny, healthy baby girl—and Caleb feels a new type of love rush through his body—for their baby. A tiny, perfect being that is a result of your unwavering love.

Caleb would carefully drive you and your tiny infant home, and did everything possible to ease your burden and take care of your child. Late night feedings, comforting your baby while you get some much needed sleep, cleaning and cooking while you rest and heal.

At night, he’d cradle his daughter, his Little Apple, brushing his thumb against her soft, chubby little cheek. She was perfect, from her tiny feet to the sleeping pout on her lips. Theres two ways Lloyd could go about having a crush.

Pre Harumi he's pretty oblivious to it, if you dont confess first, he needs Kai to figure it out for him.

Post Harumi he's having a panic attack.

On one hand, he likes you- and he knows you. You wouldnt be anything like Harumi.

On the other hand, that's what he thought about her, too.

Either way, once he comes to terms with his feelings, hes like a puppy.

Hes following you around 24/7.

He thinks hes slick.

He is not.

Kind of guy brush his hand against yours while walking thinking hes being smooth with it, but hes so red in the face you think hes sick and take him home.

But you wanted to take care of him, he considers that a win.

Generally, he prefers to be near you. Not necessarily clinging, but always sort of hovering.

Ninja or not, he wants to keep you safe.

Goes out of his way to impress you.

Not well, but he tries.

Showing off during training, not very subtley bragging, ect.

With anyone else it would come off as self absorbed, but hes so flustered while he does it that it becomes endearing.

If he does manage to get some kind of physical affection from you, hes a mess.

Hold his hand while you walk down the street, you'll be able to feel his hand heat up.

He stammers. He'll be explaining something so well until you walk into a room. Then hes tripping over every other word.

All in all, it's pretty obvious when he has a crush, at least after he figures it out himself. And once kai catches on, you wont have to wait long before hes a mess trying to ask you out.

It's very private. He'll pull you aside, make sure theres no one around. Hes very nervous, he barely manages to get his words out. You'll probably have to say it for him, but it's very sweet. He just thinks you're the coolest person.

Hes the opposite of lloyd. No stammering or panicking.

Hes all over you.

He'll always have an arm around you, or a hand on your shoulder. He loves touching you.

Hes warm. Really, really warm.

On cold nights he'll jokingly offer to share a bed with you and 'keep you warm.'

Whenever you two are alone, hes a bit more awkward. Lots of clearing his throat, shifting his weight around. He doesnt want to make you uncomfortable- and that leads to overthinking.

It's kind of funny- he'll go from clinging to your side to anxiously standing on the other side of the room.

Please reassure him, he needs it.

If you do let him know you dont mind his clinging, hes right back to being all over you- but when you're alone, hes a bit softer about it.

An arm around your shoulders turns into warm hugs. A hand on your back turns into holding hands. Alone, he treats you like you're the most precious thing in the world.

It actually takes him a little bit to build up the nerve to confess. He likes you. Not a one off flirtation, he really, really likes you.

Prepare to be romanced. Before he confesses, hes sweeping you off your feet. Dinner, picnic, movie, whatever your ideal date is, hes got it covered. He gets dressed up and everything.

But once the 'outing' ends, hes very sweet. Any cockiness in his voice dissapears as he tells you how he feels. You're amazing, and he doesn't want to mess it up.

He doesnt even actually have to confess- you can figure it out from that alone.

But if he DID confess, he tries really hard to do it right. He wants to take you out, sweep you off your feet- but you end up just staying home and playing video games.

He just sort of blurts it out. Very loudly, and very quickly. You almost miss what he says. But If you do catch it- and agree to go out with him- you're not leaving his arms any time soon. The next hour is him gushing about you as he peppers your face with kisses.

Although if you tell him you like him back, he let's out the biggest sigh of relief. He was STRESSING, but he wouldnt let you know that.

You have to ask him if hes okay a few times before he gathers himself, and manages to very formally get the words out.

But her teasing is really her way of letting you know that she notices the small things about you. The way you wear your hair, the way you sit, the way your posture changes when you're tired- she notices.

Once in a blue moon, you'll be tired enough for her to lay off- the teasing replaced with her looking after you, making sure people leave you alone. She can be very sweet when she wants to be.

The longer she likes you, the more prone to the sweet side she is. A part of her wants to out right tell you, but the other part wants to keep things the way they are- she doesn't want to risk losing the sweeter moments you had.

She's faced a good bit of loss in her life, she doesn't want to add you to the list.

Eventually, once again thanks to Kai, she spits it out. She tries to do the romantic date thing- but it turns into a choir of teasing and giggles. She confesses through her laughter. Its adorable. She freezes when she realizes what she did- but then she repeats it, letting you know she meant it.

You speed-walk up to him, already grinning. “Wala ka pa ngang ginagawa, pero gagawin mo pa lang.”

He sighs like a man who knows he’s about to be tricked, eyes narrowing in mock suspicion. “Ano na naman ‘to?”

You link your arm with his, swaying it back and forth as you give him your most practiced puppy-dog eyes. “Libre mo ko 7/11. Or kwek-kwek. Or taho. Kahit ano. Gusto ko lang. I'm hungry, emotionally and physically.”

“Again? Didn't I just buy you fishballs last week?”

“That was last week, 'kuya',” you whine, drawing out the honorific like it owes you money. “This is a brand new day. Brand new cravings. Brand new utang mo sa’kin.”

Caleb snorts. “Utang ko? Bakit parang ako pa may kasalanan?”

“You’re not my bunso. We’re the same age!”

“Pero ikaw mas matangkad. Mas mature. Mas… 'kuya' material,” you say dramatically, clasping your hands together like a damsel in distress. “Let me live my fake bunso fantasy.”

And just like that, you two walk into the afternoon sun—bickering, bantering, and him complaining half-heartedly the whole way to the fishball cart. But in the end, he always pays.

Sylus cooking is more of a special occasion thing. Picture this: Sylus, soft flamenco guitars in the background. He's got a half apron on, one too many of the buttons on his shirt is undone, his sleeves are folded up to the elbow. His knife gleams in the low yellow light of the kitchen as he makes you dinner.

Sylus is more likely to just have his private chef make you exactly what you want. If you have a craving, he's ordering it. If you want to go out instead of eating in, he'll take you out to a restaurant after taking you shopping for something to wear first.

Sylus enjoys watching you eat. It's a little creepy but he manages to pull off looking hot while he does it. Something about providing for you really does it for him. Every time you look happy while eating something either he made or he got for you, it gives him a satisfied feeling that he can't get anywhere else.

Sylus often likes to decompress after dinner with a glass of wine. In the winter, he likes doing it by the fire. In the summer, by the large windows overlooking the N109 Zone. Either way, he prefers to have you beside him while he does it. Whether you're reading, playing on your phone, watching a movie, it doesn't matter. He has a lot of lost time to make up for, just these quiet moments with you are perfect.

they don't really know any of the batfam, they just took the place of an already existing person and is now having to live their (pretty sad) life. while the fam are feeling mountains and loads of guilt for not being there for you, for not protecting you like they should've—

in reality, it was really your fault you were shot in the first place. you sensed the bullet and could've dodged it easily, but then it would've hit the man in front of you, and you couldn't have let that happen. you're just not that type of person

but they don't know that—they think you had just become victim to the evils and horrors of gotham and you need to be coddled so this never happens again!!!

in general, spidey doesn't really feel anything toward the fam. they think they're all pretty big assholes from how they act toward both them and dc!reader (as far as they can tell from the diaries and hundreds upon hundreds of messages left on delivered), but it's not spideys place to forgive them, so they kind of just never will.

and that's what drives them REALLY nuts because they're really trying their hardest and yet its like you want nothing to do with them!!! (you really just donr want to talk to them bc you have bigger problems to worry about; but they don't know that).

they have a soft spot for kids (which will play a part in the future story) and every spider is good with kids, so by default damian would probably be the easiest for spidey to like. (chapter 4 watch out for him hegfhehehe)

HOWEVER if we're talking about dc!reader, it's probably either dick or jason (talking about sibling/parent family, so no babs, steph, kate kane, luke fox etc.) as they did have a very strong bond with them until jason died.

it's less because they did the least to dc!reader and more because they simply just want the love of their two oldest brothers back—still craving the care they used to get that was robbed of them so unfairly.
