Hey hey! I'm sneaking into your inbox to say hello and to check up on ya. I hope all is well and that life is treating you decently. Also, I think you should know that I think of "Touch" almost every single day. I think you went back and are redoing the chapters... is that right? I haven't had the chance to go back and reread it yet, but that is partly because I don't think I'm ready. Your writing is so good and I look up to you a lot as a writer. I've always been cool with Dabi as a character but your portrayal of him really made me fall in love with him even more. Thank you for always being a friend ♥ and sorry I accidentally unfollowed you when I went to send this message. Oops!
I'm so happy to see you in my inbox! Life is okay, work is taking up too much non-work time but I'm working on it. :) Just waiting for some important documentation to come in then I'll probably leave the current company I'm with. I was going to rewrite the earlier chapters, but I only ended up rewriting chapter 1 (for now). I'm back to writing the more recent chapters. I have 12 chapters finished and posted and I'm working on 13 right now a little at a time. No worries about rereading it. :) You'll get to it if/when you want to. It's massive fic and it's been having long gaps in updates, so I totally understand.
I always love seeing you show up on my dash, especially on the weekends when life gives you a little bit of free time. Your soft Sundays are always a joy to read and I wish I had more time to participate in them. <3
I hope life is treating you kind and you're taking good care of yourself; as someone who's also in a helping profession, I have the utmost respect for you. Teaching is a tough job and so undervalued here in the states. I'm sure your students are lucky to have someone as kind as you as their teacher!

One thing that’s annoying about pit madness as a trope in fic is when people act like Jason killing people is the result of magic induced compulsion and not a fundamental philosophical difference between him and the other bats. Jason was already saying “well maybe she had a point” about a woman who killed a serial killer rapist when he was ROBIN

The way I tend to characterize the Alan-created stick figures is that his mindset in the moment he made them defines who they are, even if their personalities and habits can change over their years of existence.
Victim was made solely to be tormented in an early 00s style violent stick figure animation. This means he views everything in terms of how much of a threat it is to him, and is singularly focused on taking revenge on his tormentor. If he's not the "victim", he's not really anything - he has no identity. He may or may not already know that Alan's a changed person who now treats his creations with kindness, but either way, it wouldn't stop him from seeking out revenge.
The Chosen One was made to be powerful, first and foremost, because the Animator wanted a challenge. That's why it's in his nature to rebel, to break the status quo, to disrupt. It doesn't mean he's evil, just that he tends to go against the grain of the current situation. At first it means he's seeking to break the Animator's control of the computer, then he says "screw destiny" by befriending the one made solely to destroy him, then they cause more chaos across the internet because it's in their nature. But the longer he stays in that, the more he thinks he needs to change, that this isn't right - because, again, he was never made to be evil, just powerful and disruptive.
That's why the Dark Lord is so fucked: he was made as a weapon. Just to destroy. His only reason for coming into existence was because the Animator needed the Chosen One dealt with. He doesn't reject the status quo, he follows it, no matter who's telling him what it is - first it's the Animator, then it's Chosen, his only friend. Whereas Chosen starts to have second thoughts, it's not in Dark's nature to do so - only to improve, to polish the violence and destruction to an absolute mirror sheen, all to impress the one person he cares about. When Chosen turns on him and the Animator is still his enemy, I think the only reason Dark is still causing destruction is because that's literally all he's ever done. It's all he knows. He can't imagine anything outside that because he has no experience with anything else.
And that's why, from a symbolic standpoint, the Second Coming is his greatest threat and the one to defeat him. She's his antithesis. Made years after everything with Chosen and Dark was over and done with, made just because the Animator was doing what he loved: creating. And unlike with Victim, she was probably intended to do more than suffer and die for black comedy.
Second's core ability is creating, no matter what environment she's in - she uses the pencil in the main series to effortlessly make living beings or tools, constantly crafts and comes up with ideas in the Minecraft series, and learns the rules of the universes around her to use them to her benefit in the Education series. Dark only knows destruction. Second only knows creation. Even after she seemingly wins in IV, she tosses the ray gun aside and starts making things now that she has free reign of the computer - she only seeks to destroy so long as there's a threat to herself or what she cares about.

what i understand from youtube is that steven universe is actually the most powerful cartoon of all time.
every single cartoon thats ended after SU have killed its bad guy to prove it wrong. they only exist to react to it. SU has also created a powerful time loop, where every youtuber constantly craving a new cartoon to do the bold, new, revolutionary thing of owning SU by killing its villains. it doesn't matter how many cartoons have already done that. its always new, and its always important. its an endless ouroboros cycle of needing a new cartoon to be the first ever to not forgive. the cycle will never end. the youtubers never have the faintest recollection of other cartoons demonstrating how common it is to kill the big bad. its always something new. bold. refreshing.
steven universe is always defeated by every new cartoon, but the defeat never lasts. SU always rises again and must be defeated anew, for the very first time.
steven universe is dead. long live steven universe.

Victim is absolutely horrifying.
I know it's already known that he's pretty much evil, but it's so much more than that. (This is a long rant. Keep reading if you're interested.)
I mean, just look at the way he treated Chosen. Instead of trying to get information out of him immediately and then fighting if he refuses, he instantly just started beating him. Some can argue that he was weakening him so he would be too weak to fight back when he was questioned, but I doubt that. Agent easily could've just removed all his powers, but he didn't. He removed some, sure, but he let Chosen keep some. Victim could've tried to talk to Cho at the start. He might've spilled, and then the whole fight would've been avoided. But instead he just started beating the crap outta him for, to Chosen at least, no apparent reason.
It seems like to me Victim wanted Chosen to fight back. If he didn't, why not remove all his powers and tie him up? Then he could beat him to 'weaken' him if he wanted. But he didn't. He let Chosen fight back.
I'm guessing he had it that way because he enjoyed having power over someone. He liked the feeling of Chosen desperately fighting back, only to be beaten again and again until he was eventually defeated by him. That's how it went with him and Alan. He had no power, and was used as a toy where he was destined to be defeated, no matter how hard he fought back. He made that same situation with Chosen because he doesn't want to feel like a victim anymore. He wants to be in control, like Alan. His obvious enjoyment of Chosen's struggle is part of the reason of what makes him so scary.
He also did some unnecessary things, to say the least. I mean, whipping Chosen? Why? He also whipped the ground right next to Chosen as he was crawling away, probably to evoke fear. And even as Chosen froze himself, he didn't stop, instead he created clones of himself to hurt Chosen more. He saw Chosen was most definitely scared. (Probably terrified, who wouldn't be after being whipped and beaten down by someone you just met with your powers suddenly being weakened and some taken away?) But he didn't take that as a que to stop and start questioning him. Not only does he like having power over someone, I think he also just enjoys physically hurting people. And probably likes seeing them scared, considering he was trying to make Chosen afraid. He's most definitely sadistic. It's not a surprise, considering his past. He probably developed other phycological issues, like sociopathy.
It also seems like he kidnaps innocent sticks. This is a bit of a reach, but hear me out. We all know Victim has a company, not some police force or something of those sorts. They also kidnapped Second, who was completely innocent in everything. The mercenaries attacked Sec when he was at first friendly, he was waving to them and looked nervous. What part of that screams 'danger'? Sure they saw Chosen with him, but when they started shooting, they weren't aiming to where they saw Cho. They were aiming for Second who panicked and started running around in obvious fear, again, no indication of being dangerous, but never stopped until Chosen came in to save Sec. So what do you think would happen if Victim took an interest in a stick that's, probably, innocent? They would be kidnapped most likely. I brought up the company and not police because of the cells. They were made to keep people inside, but I highly doubt they were 'arresting' people they believed were dangerous. So he probably took people who he thought might have something to do with Alan, or maybe for other, bad, reasons. He doesn't know Second and Alan are related, yet he was taken anyway. I can only imagine what Victim tried to do to the sticks he probably kidnapped. I wouldn't be surprised if he kept them for weeks or longer, until he threw them away once he lost interest. So that adds to how scary he is.
He's also selfish. He's completely happy to let others suffer just so he can get his revenge. I mean, I don't blame him for wanting revenge, after all he was killed. (Or deleted, whatever) But he's so blinded with rage and the need to make Alan pay, he doesn't care about who he hurts, innocent or not. He's making others suffer because he suffered himself. That is selfish. It's also makes him so dangerous and scary.
I honestly adore Victim as a character. He's so interesting and I love analyzing him. He's evolved from a simple victim, to a monster who has so much control and power over others. He enjoys creating fear and likes to bring others to submission. That alone makes him a terrifying and dangerous villain.
Sorry for the long rant, but I needed to get my thoughts out.

I find the quote on this promo card really interesting actually.
Not only because “mind-games” is kind of ironic, considering Ras has been manipulating Jordana in order to get what he wants, which has definitely hurt her thus far, but also this sounds like she’s saying it to the ninja. If that’s the case, “mind-games” gets a different meaning— one where it sounds more like the ninja are trying to talk her out of working for Ras, but she thinks they’re just also going to use her to win.
Very interesting indeed.
