Nastasia

Nastasia's past is explained by Carson in one of his histories:

'Once upon a time, a man went to look for the girl he loved, who was missing. As he passed through a forest, he found a bat stuck in a trap. He set the bat free. It promptly thanked him and disappeared.

As he lay down to camp that night, he heard a voice and looked about. He noticed the sky was filled with a huge, round moon. There stood before him a woman he had never seen. The bat had transformed into the species of the one she had fallen for.' Now, I don't know if that's true or not...

The last part of the story was... 'The bat pledged eternal loyalty to the man out of love on that night.' ...

Obviously, we can suppose that the man in the story is Blumiere (before he turns into Count Bleck), the girl who he was looking for is Timpani and the bat who then turns into a woman is Nastasia.

Her name is Greek for "She who shall rise up again", possibly a reference to her only falling unconscious from a deadly attack or the story with the bat and the man Carson tells titled "Of Bats and Men". It is also a portmanteau of "nasty" and "Anastasia".

In the English version, she speaks in a casual manner, using words like "'K" and "gonna" often, although in the Japanese version she speaks much more professionally.

Her abilities enables her to control several people at once and command them to do tasks they would never consider doing in their right mind, such as forcing Luigi to attack his friends. However, her hypnosis is at least possible to resist, as shown by Peach during her wedding with Bowser. Nastasia seems to use her power by lifting her glasses, upon which a white glow flashes and her target is surrounded in square lasers, which puts the victim under Nastasia's (and by extension, Count Bleck's) control. Notably, the hypnosis she uses may sometimes cause physical changes in the victim, such as hypnotized Koopa Troopas donning dark glasses and spikes. (And perhaps that would explain the drastic change in Mr. L outfit)

Another fun fact is that, in the post-game, there's a boy on Flopside who was in love with Nastasia, but she comments to us her feelings for the Count, and decides that even if she could learn to love again, she probably never could have measured up to Timpani anyway.

Card type: Rare

Card Description: Nastasia is Count Bleck's executive assistant. She's in charge of scheduling, organizing, and brain-control. Word is, she's got a secret crush on her boss.

Trivia: Before the game's initial release, artwork of Nastasia and Tiptron together was released despite the fact that the two never interact in the game.

Tippi originally had a tattle for Nastasia in the postgame, though since Tippi would have already been gone by this point, it went unused and remains in the game's files. The tattle reads, "That's Nastasia, the count's executive assistant. She has served him the longest... Without him, she is quite lonely, but she manages to go on in her new life... It is hard for me to see her like this... I think I know exactly how she feels..."

"Yeah, so some minions in the Bowser organization are still resisting assimilation. So I'm heading out to squash the resistance..."

Positivity you say?

Excuse me while I gush. Though do forgive if some of these are sloppy, I am emotionally drained from yesterday, and some reason, even if I spelt like 12 hours today, my body is sluggish and feeling not up to it haha.

So I wanted to give this a shout out to people, cause honestly, they not only deserve such, but I wanted to give them love. Do note I'll mention some other names at the end, as I've already spoken about them.

But also that I wanna try to get everyone that I can, so I do apologize that I haven't said much! Just wanted to showcase how many lovely people there are, and that mean a lot to me! Also do note, some names I may have missed, but that's more down to me trying to remember ALL of them gdidgsidsg. So do not worry if you're not there, you are their in spirit! @risingsol How can you not adore Xue? Like really? They're so lovely, and so lovely to chat too. Kaveh had no lack of pride for his work--for good reason, some would say, but to him it was purely on principle. For an architect, an artist, at times all that they had was their pride. So the other's interest delighted him.

He nodded along with Evan's statement about the buildings there being different from those in Mondstadt. Although Kaveh had never been there personally, between Sumeru and his visit to Fontaine, he'd seen that difference in architectural style with his own eyes.

"Architecture might have a more practical use, but it's still an art form as well, and so a structure will inevitably be influenced by its designer. Where people have grown up in different environments, the art they produce will also reflect that," he said. "There's some important things to keep in mind--a building that cuts corners in structure is a danger, and one that has no thought put to aesthetics is an eyesore. Safety and practicality are vital, but I see no reason to sacrifice the beauty either. I believe that any architect worth his salt should be able to bring these concepts together without cutting into any of them. It just takes a little creative problem solving sometimes."

Kaveh could talk endlessly about the subject, brimming over with confidence as he spoke.

"Anyway, right, I shouldn't get ahead of myself. You haven't even seen the place I'm talking about yet. We can just follow this road; after some walking we should get there in good time." A gesture at the path, in the direction of the Palace. "It's called the Palace of Alcazarzaray. It's actually the home of a... client I had previously."

Remembering the circumstances in which said 'client' became his 'debtor' made him wince. Still, he forged on--it was a project that he didn't regret, although he did regret the circumstances that drove him so desperately deep in financial misery.

"So there's a lot that I can't show you, not without permission of the owner, but even viewing it from what we can is a definite must-see for visiting Sumeru!"

"Huh? An architect?"

He had never met an architect before--old Mondstat was encased in wind and never expanded in his lifetime, and he was always wandering around... thankfully he at least knew the general gist of what that was, otherwise he'd feel more embarrassed than he already did.

"Ehe, can't say I've ever met one--I've met bards and wine makers galore, but you're the first architect." He laughed and rubbed the back of his neck. "Still--you probably have a much finer appreciation for the structure of things than I ever could. You've even made something you can consider a 'magnum opus'..."

That sounded impressive on its own--despite being a bard himself, Evan never felt as if he ever made anything he could call his 'magnum opus'... perhaps he should change that.

"I'd love to see it! The way buildings are here is so different to Mondstadt--it's impressive, really!" Evan grinned. "So you'll have to tell me all about it when we get there, all right?"
