Begging people to stop reblogging this AI trash from “The Phantom Painter” on Instagram (instagram.com/phantom.painting). I’ve been seeing it on my dash more and more often from people who are otherwise anti-AI and either can’t tell it’s AI or don’t care because it looks cool.

This is the kind of shit that is VERY CLEARLY trained on the works of existing talented artists’ with distinct styles and this asshole is selling prints and making a profit off of stealing other people’s hard work.

Don’t give people like this money or attention and they will go away.

Please, if you’re going to buy art prints, buy them from an actual artist.

Are Chat GPT and AI art a threat to writers and artists?

Lately, I’ve come across beautiful, breathtaking works on Instagram that are said to be generated with Midjourney and they leave me feeling conflicted (like phantom.painting & nyx.s.journey).

The ethical dilemma these tools represent hasn’t been an obstacle for publication. An example is Alice & Sparkle, a story written by Chat GPT and illustrated with Midjourney.

Furthermore, there’s a surge in AI generated stories being published on Amazon, too.

Is it only hype or are these tools actually good enough to make what we do redundant? I signed up to Chat GPT with a few requests to come to a conclusion myself. 

I alternated between asking for facts, or proposals of itineraries for trips, and even ideas for social media strategies--these I thought were helpful. Then, I entered more creative prompts: I asked for a short story, a joke, a suggestion for a dance choreography (since I’m also a dance teacher)... None of these were good. 

When it comes to illustration, I did a couple of exercises with DALL-E2, to see if they could bring the concept of my WIP to life. Some of the results were pretty, but very far from what I wanted. 

After this exercise, I was left thinking that the tool can be helpful only in some areas--I would’ve killed to have this when doing corporate paperwork, for example. But, when it comes to writing and art, although these tools might provide a starting point, they’re low-quality copycats.

I think AI comes on the losing side against the creativity and ingenuity of flesh and bone writers and artists. At least, for now.

Voilà le débriefe de la nuit de dimanche à lundi 2 avril. Deux amies faisaient du ressenti au second, dans le couloir, assises sur la banquette. Une d'elle sentit « un feu intérieur », puis un froid. Elle s'est alors sentie avec des vêtements différents, avec une longue jupe noire. Puis, elle vit une femme, assise à côté d'elle mais sans creuser la banquette. Comme si elle flottait. La femme la regardait. Elle était vêtue de noir, avec un haut en dentelle et avait un chapeau de veuve. Elles ont été dans la chambre des maîtres. Adeline parle de sa vie professionnelle et entend Cindy lui répondre en acquiesçant simplement ses dires. Pendant ce temps-là, Cindy se sent totalement oppressée, entend le voix d’Adeline, comme si elle était dans un bocal, et lui hurle dessus pour lui demander si elle entend bien tout le raffut qu'il y a au second étage : personnes qui courent, meubles que l'on tire etc … Adeline ne répond pas. Cindy insiste. Elle crie. Rien. Elles sont à 1 mètre d'écart. Puis un cri sort Adeline de son monologue. En fait, Adeline entendait une femme lui répondre mais n'entendait pas du tout les cris de Cindy. Cindy, quant à elle, n'entendait pas du tout Adeline, puisqu'elle entendait une voix dans un bocal. Pour terminer, le lendemain matin, nous avons fait une séance de spiritisme pour connaître les détails de ce phénomène étrange. C'est comme si les filles étaient dans des dimensions différentes. On a eu une personne qui 'avait aucun lien avec nous et a dit regretter de s'être fait incinérer … C'était ça le feu intérieur. Il y aurait plusieurs étapes dans le fait de mourir. On est mort lorsque toutes ces étapes sont franchies, que les énergies vitales sont toutes parties. Cela mettrait 14 jours. Je trouve très intéressant de connaître les modes de communications et le fait de savoir que peut-être, nous incinérons ou enterrons nos défunts un peu trop tôt. 👻👻👻
