Uncrowned King drabble

again @nemo-of-house-hamartia is responsible, bless her soul. this drabble would definitely fall under au so here we go,

In some alternate timeline Ardyn is King in his own right, while his people are on patrol they capture who they call a spy. Their brought to Ardyn who talks to them in private, he asks where their from and they dance around the question. Until he has them pinned, it's than that they reveal their from another kingdom.

While most people would execute their prisoner or torture them he does neither. But he does hold them hostage but he gives them freedom while in the castle walls but they cannot leave.

Who's this prisoner, well it's no other than the princess unofficially of Lucis. But she tries to hide this fearing this will provoke an official declaration of war. So instead she gives a fake name or rather a name she use to go by.

While staying with Ardyn she's given her own room, excess to anywhere in the castle well all except one area. She's not to be harassed by anyone but should she escape her privileges would be revoked.

So she uses this time to explore the castle and get to know this tyrant King better. Shes heard many rumors from her father, guards, her brother and many others how hes a cruel man. A trickster that was punished by the gods..but after watching him for a month...she questions what she's been told.

The people that call his "kingdom" home are cursed with what was believed to be incurable deceases. But Ardyn heals them, gives them a place to live all in exchange for loyalty. He entertains the children with a strange type of magic and listens to all.

She can't find a tyrant anywhere in the kingdom, if anything he's a trickster, big kid, childish at times and a schemer. But he seems to have a heart for his people...and Luscinia can't help but feel torn. The man she heard about and the man that she stays with are different people. How? Her father wouldn't lie to her right? And if he's a good man why couldn't her Kingdom leave him alone. No something must be wrong, so Luscinia decides to do some digging or rather snooping around the castle.

But one night she finds out that the rumors are true, he is a monster cursed by the gods.

The man she was falling for is a monster, goop runs from his eyes and down his mouth. Like tears running down a broken mans face, Ardyn reach's for her but she runs out terrified. Instead of running after her he watches...

She runs away and manages to escape the kingdom, later Luscinia is found by Cor and Nov father and daughter team for the win . They bring her back home. She's questioned where she's been and Luscinia makes up a story feeling torn about what's happened. Sometime passes and Noctis goes to talk to his sister because she's been distant. They talk and he manages to get through to her, she wants to confide in him but she worries what he'll say. So she decides to go to a friend and vent a bit, turns out Luscinia might have caught the feels.

Somethings happen and Luscinia manages to make it back to Ardyn, she tries to talk to him to get answers. To maybe help him but instead he just pushes her away and now treats her like a prisoner. In an attempt to keep her away and to save her from himself. Meanwhile her Kingdom is making plans to storm the castle and save the Princess. Noctis watched his sister be taken into the kingdom oops💦

Outside of drama that's happening their are soft moments,

Luscinia playing the piano with Ardyn, the two exploring the library together, exploring outside the kingdom together, like the bakeries, markets and scenic places.

I realise this story sounds like interesting take on beauty and beast somehow, except Luscinia is no damsel. If anything Ardyn is jk unless 👀

bloody hell, with this all Shay/Dora thing that I have going on, I can finally introduce Thea properly.

She came so late into the game (as a concept, she existed since 2020 - Thea and Dora were always going to be twins- but as a character, I basically developed late 2022, early 2023?) that I NEVER thought about the possibility of making her Dottie's literal wingman and bff (again, in Syndicate Dorothea was an only child).

SWEET, SWEET DELICIOUS POSSIBILITIES THAT HAVE JUST OPENED UP IN FRONT OF MY EYES.

AM DELIGHTED.

(am basically moving all the Starrick family back into 1700s for the Rogue arc lololol).

Tagged by @satashiiwrites! Thank you! Seeing all the upcoming stuff for Veilguard (plus what @nemo-of-house-hamartia is cooking up 👀) kind of inspired this. I have no idea if this in-character for our dear Antivan pretty boy but you know what, that's half the fun

Lucanis shifted in his seat. "You never did answer my question."

She frowned without looking up. Although she did fish out another red thin snack before popping it in her mouth. "Well, neither did you if you want to play that game."

"You first."

"What are we? Twelve?" she snorted, twisting the medallion one more time to see if anything had manifested itself. A clue. A magical sign. Spoiler alert: nothing did. If her own principles didn't control her hand, let alone the threat of Silvana not hanging over her neck, she'd be half-tempted to throw it at the wall in frustration. "But fine, if this the hill you wish to die on. Yes. I did."

Isotta let the medallion slip from her fingers to land on the table dragon-side up with a loud *thunk.* She replaced its heavy weight with that of her cup, taking a long sip. She was disappointed it had gone from boiling hot to lukewarm in a matter of minutes. "I said it was complicated."

"'Complicated' is not an answer," he retorted, drinking from his own mug. She noted it was half-empty already, and thus far had heard no complaints. Must have done something right between the creme and three sugars he had requested. "Not when it comes to demons. You either don't have them in your home or you do. There's no in-between. Anyone who infers otherwise has something to hide."

Isotta's free hand twitched. "I've as much connection to the Fade as a nug. So, if you're implying that I'm some kind of spooky evil blood mage keeping demons as pets in her basement," she emphasized this by ominously wiggling her fingers before pointing at the entrance, scowling. "There's the door, and don't let it hit you on the way out."

Unsurprisingly, he didn't budge from his seat for that would have been far too easy. Surprisingly, it did earn her a half-smile as he set his cup down, steepling his fingers together. "Well, are you?"

This is my silly little guy version of Adimantos (I drew him a couple days ago here), one of my Spartan OC's that I've been thinking about a lot lately.

Three fun facts about him:

His pater (Eukleidas) was a wrestling champion, and though he tried as a young man to measure up to that legacy, he absolutely sucks at this sport.

In the earliest version of his character, he was Brasidas' mothake (foster brother). I am still trying to write this version in my og fic, Hollow Lakedaimon.

If he was transported to the 21st century, I think he'd be a teacher (probably sport teacher); and he'd get into theatre, music - probably rock mostly, I think - and he'd be one of those people who like to hang out at coffee shops.

Late edit: I forgot the music part! That would be Counting Spooks by Editors.

I don't know of many people who make OC's, so I will tag, tentatively and with zero pressure, @nemo-of-house-hamartia @ladyinthebluebox @ainulindaelynn @mini-uzzy @theinkandthesea and @findusinaweek. I could see Luscinia kidnapping Ardyn's jacket and hat strutting around like a goddess, ardyn coming around the corner and she just keeps going.

I'm not sure how your working their dynamic but I feel like she brings laughter and warmth this poor smirky man needs. He's still him it's just from time to time he'll lower his guard to show he still is a man just a hurting one.

He's wanted to feel the warmth of another, to not be used and abused but to be loved if even for a moment. So seeing her in his things gives him an odd since of belonging which he hides with a smirk and a comment.

Ardyn: " You look very luxurious kitten but dare I say those items are better equipped to on me."

Luscinia: Didn't your parents tell you not to lie it looks better on me and if you want it back you'll have to take it.

Queue her running off trying to win this little game. Ardyn can't help but savor this moment before he bites his lip and goes after her. Now I'd like to believe he likes the thrill of the hunt so he's patient. She'll go somewhere and hide, he'll wait for her to lower her guard than nab her.

Ardyn: tsk tsk not so feral are we, in the face of danger you tuck into my humble embrace begging for mercy

Luscinia: really?

Ardyn: oh come on your not gonna play along dearest.

The two maybe get caught in playful banter but end on a soft note. I could see noctis demanding to have his sister back. Ardyn gives her up but moreso because she's too good to be true, to give into these feelings would be to hurt again. And he's not ready for that...

No matter how much he cherishes her company, tea and sweets, discreet shopping, maybe reading, playful banter and him just enjoying her warmth. The man's just afraid of loosing more..

If their relationship we're to be lean toward romantic playful

He definitely hasn't measured both of their hands side by side to see how tiny hers is to his. Or carefully intertwine their fingers or bring her fingers up to his lips to tease her nope nope never.

Shell hug him and he gently wraps his arms around her, afraid he'll shatter this moment. What if she's not real? What if he's finally lost it, hallucinating because he's so alone on the inside.

I could see him catching her napping in her coat and smiling at her, brushes his fingers along her cheek. Kneeling down to trace her lips with his finger before bringing that same finger to his lips. Of course he's gone before she awakens because he's not one to get caught.

Did I mention he loves to go shopping with her, being the gentleman he is he pays. Stole emperor's card

He loves seeing her all dressed up like the goddess she is, he wishes things we're different. Wishes he we're someone else so he could sweep her off her feet before running off with her like the tricker he is.

At night he curses the gods for what he's become but he also questions why they allowed their encounter. He questions if she's real or if he's truly dead one must be right. She's far to good for him he doesn't deserve happiness or love.. he's..cursed and the flight of this world. Right?

Fic Summary

Something that should have remained buried was stolen—only to be dumped on a targeted stranger. Now stuck in a time rife with both beauty and betrayal, Tristan Meyers finds that nothing is truly as it seems and that it's a long way back home. Tristan followed the house maid to the library, and with each step, her stomach lowered until it practially weighed her feet down.

They came to a stop at the [was there a door? I need to play, don't I] and the maid turned. "He'll be a moment, but he'll see you here. Make yourself comfortable in the meantime."

Tristan nodded slowly as she said her thanks, but she must have hesitated too much for the housemaid stopped, pasting on a knowing smile. "I promise he doesn't bite much."   

"It's not him I'm necessarily worried about," she began to mutter before stopping herself with a grimace. "But, thank you."

She inclined her head, the neat auburn bun on her head slowly losing its form  "After you speak with Mario, come see me when you get the chance. I notice you don't have much in the way of... well." She took two fingers to a poorly stitched up tear in Tristan's shoulder.

"Unfortunately, I had to leave a lot of things behind. Another change of clothes was one of them. " She picked at her collar. "Would... it be uh possible to get more...?" She trailed off gesturing at her raggedy attire.

"Men's clothes? I don't see why not, but if you forgive me for saying-- it would be unconventional. I am surprised, though; I would would believe a woman of your status would be clawing at the opportunity to be wearing anything else."

Status of what? A farm? Tristan flushed. "It's not that I'm opposed to wearing dresses, I just... " She became even more flustered, averting her eyes, muttering, "I don't know how. Not... how you ladies do it. Last time I attempted, I practically tripped face first and ate the floor."

A loud laugh escaped the woman before she had the chance to hide it behind a hand. "I see. Well then, come see me later and we can start with measurements."
