Hmmm I feel like the reason I like my favourite musicals actually largely has to do with how they pose questions about how to deal with Weltschmerz: Elisabeth says "personal freedom or die trying (?)", TdV says "(don't?) be evil and selfish about it", Cabaret says "(don't?) watch it all happen in front of your eyes and do nothing/go party instead"
