Friends, the ammount of fanart I've wanted to draw since I saw that movie is not even funny. Some of you may know that my creativity is fuled by two things: beauty and angst. In short I was shot full of hyperfuel and promptly given no time to draw.

It's been a while since I've doodled a comic.

My mom brought this up yesterday while I was doing spanish and was like: "What!?"

I personally don't know how I feel about dire wolves "being brought back from extinction"

Because it doesn't make sense to do so. Apparently wolf and coyote populations are back up from a decline in N. America (which is where I'm assuming they'd be putting them back into the wild if there was enough of them), so why would they do that?

Dire wolves have been found in colder parts in the world, and it makes sense to put them in cold places either way bc they are literally just giant wolves. So, also, why bring them back when global warming is taking away the habitat that they would be added to?

Up north already has to deal with polar bears, grizzlies, grey wolves, and other cold dwelling large predators, why potentially add dire wolves to the mix?

I agree with op about wanting to absolutely love this fantasy-like wolf being brought into the world, however, I mostly disagree for different reasons. (Your reasons are also very valid, op)

they could have said, like, "we made a new wolf morph, which shows how far genetic science has advanced". they could have said, "we're calling them direwolves out of a love for the extinct species." maybe too much to ask for but would have loved it if they'd pointed out some kind of ecological niche they were theoretically intent on resolving - like, "wolves are having trouble adapting to human sprawl and we are hoping that our research into the past will help us save wolves in the present."

but alas they did not do this. and see this sucks because i want to be hype about new bigass fantasy wolves. there is a 7th grade version of me that would be ecstatic about this. she would be obsessive.

unfortunately, due to capitalism, now i gotta have beef with puppies. can you imagine.
