Todays Little Guy is one we all know very well. It’s the player characters from the hit game Among Us.

Among Us is, as we know, an extremely popular IP. The iconic player characters have been turned into memes, plushies, shirts and much more. During the peak of Among Us’ popularity, it was hard not to see it somewhere online. The games success can be attributed to its easy party style multiplayer gameplay, and large youtubers/streamers playing it. However, I think that the design of the player characters is also a huge factor in the games success. So what about this design is so successful?

The first most important thing about these astronauts is their simplicity. When it comes to characters that will be animated, simpler designs are much less time consuming and easier to animate. Additionally, simplicity lends to easy recreation. The player characters are made of just a few simple shapes, and so they are easily drawn and replicated, even by children. I couldn’t count the amount of times i’ve seen these guys drawn on windows, homework, or graffitied on walls. This simplicity also lends itself to recognizability. Even just the silhouette of the character is recognizable, despite its only defining features being a few bumps.

However, in game these characters allow for a variety of customization options, creating a larger sense of individuality. Different colors and props imply different personalities, and lead to the creation of a cast of characters, despite them all being built on the same base. I remember lots of people making Among Us ocs/sonas back when it was really popular.

Despite how memed they are, I still think these designs are very cute, and I think if they were real you could squeeze them like stress balls. Certified little guys imo. Analyzing their design is a great lesson in the power of simplicity.

ok so this is going to be stupid personal but it's also thoughts that I want some input on so I'm putting it on main underneath a fold.

so like someone brought up that one patricia taxxon video about furries or whatever and I kind of vibe with it but also very much don't? like, I get the othering part and I do want to be different in some superficial, unobtainable way, but I don't feel very Animals about it, and I still very much like being human. in fact, I don't really like most of the traditional furry choices for animals. I'm just like "okay then" and move on

but yet, yknow, maybe I just want to pet like a big ol' bug that has maybe doglike intelligence so it can love me back and that's about it. and I have entertained the idea of having some Other Thing persona on the internet. I came up with this idea for "cyberspace wanderer" a while back but never really got around to expanding on that idea. my avatar is actually the eventual result of my first attempt at a sona of some sort, but that idea developed into an OC more than anything so he doesn't really count anymore.

so like, I get furries but I'm operating on a different wavelength. if that makes sense

I guess that's why pokemon appeals to me in a way? aside from the preacher's kid syndrome and all that. they're funky little animals that you hang out with. not really furry, just whatever (and even then, I find the ones that are less animalistic more appealing). that being said I have also entertained the idea of "if I were a pokemon what would I be" and the results have been very inconclusive because I just don't really know of any that really has My Vibe)

2023 blog update !

Sooo happy new year everyone, and let's get into the thick of it, because I have a lot of words to spew out from my little tired brain ( i swear i started writing this at 4am, how's it past 6 already ? ). Beware long post...

I'm ditching the "sonic fandom" categorizing tag, most of my blog is sonic stuff so it doesn't really matter ( i'll change out the old tag on my old posts later when i remember... )

I wanted to change my url, cause i don't like what it stands for now, but it's what I'm credited as in the SWA zine and i don't wanna inconvenience them this late in the thing, so I'm gonna keep it for the time being. Maybe in a few months I'll change it ?

I kinda hate tagging my posts so i think i'm gonna stop using most of my tags when i'm reblogging, just doing my regular comments instead and content warnings if it needs it ( don't forget you can always ask to tag ! ), and of course, the reblog tag stays.

This doesn't mean I'm ditching the categorizing tags entirely though. I'm gonna try something. At every end of the month I'll go into the mass post editor and just correctly tag everything. ( I might still tag characters and fandoms the regular way for non-sonic stuff ).

I might reblog a little less. Or at least try to. The amount of stuff I usually reblog kind of overwhelms me ( sideblog will not be affected as it's a lot less pressure ).

In terms of resolutions... I wanna post more art ! I basically stopped entirely in the later half of 2022 cause of ID anxiety and that's no good, art is what i made this blog for ! I also still haven't introduced you guys to my AU and I was supposed to do that in, like, June 2022... So I'm gonna do that. Lemme know what format you think I should post the 24 ( and more ) images in ? ^^;

Maybe I could post my long rambles and weird ""essays"" ( heavy quotations because those are basically liveblogging of my current thoughts ), if you guys would like to see that. A lot of questioning logic, lore, headcanons and theories. Stuff like that.

I want to interact more with the fandom ! Provide actual content ! Be active, be friends, y'know. Do the club activities and all that jazz. Art challenges, redraws, collabs, whiteboards, dtiys... I wanna be part of the cool/uncool kids and have fun while doing it !

I guess we’ve been long overdue for an updates post yeah? Last one I made was legit Nov 2021... I think I should at least leave another update post before seeing if I’m still around or end up vanishing yet again, lmfao But regardless, getting to the point...

Tossing shit under a read more just so that in case of a lengthy ass post it doesn’t clog people’s dashboards (dashboards? timelines? ...I’ve been mostly on twitter lmao so). TL;DR, life’s come swinging hard at me so it’s kept all of my focus mostly on personal matters, less on art, even with still creating things in the distance despite taking a lengthy hiatus (that’s arguably still ongoing? a semi hiatus now perhaps) so.

So I mean, for starters its kinda. Obvious that I’ve been more active on other social media sites rather than here, & tbh whether I really stick around here for long or end up disappearing back into the depths once more for whatever unforeseen reason is yet to be seen, especially since I only really use this place on occasion (for my mental health’s sake, mostly, whether that’ll change over time or will always remain in this “appears only occasionally” cycle is something we’ve yet to see, but for now... just don’t count on me really being consistently active here)

But even with being more active on other places I’ve still taken a semi-hiatus/hiatus, with a major part of that being attributed to uh. Health issues coming back with a vengeance & tryna crush me lol. I mean that’s, kinda par for the course with chronic illness I guess? But it’s put a heavy emphasis on me having to look after myself even moreso than before, & this amidst still processing some really heavy shit I mentioned in my last update that I won’t get into (bc it’s both deeply personal & very trigger heavy), on top of other things life keeps throwing at me (because of course it would), well I’ve just taken priority on taking care of that & making sure I’m fine &... thus not really being too present on here or anywhere really. Sometimes showing up on occasions because I engage with astrology related communities (since I’m learning more on that & other personal practices I won’t bore y’all with), sometimes showing up to support other artists, but yeah.

I do admit tho I’ve still been creating stuff in the background. Be it practicing with stuff art wise or working on other personal OC stuff or projects, I’ve had that still, & its one of the things that helps keep me afloat whilst also navigating, well, life itself. It’s admittedly been difficult navigating shit also tho because due to my health situation, I can’t really do comms (& I’ve been on break from them due to burnout), so income’s been... troublesome to say the least considering medical bills & all that. So trying to find ways to get that & sometimes getting help from others has been another thing that’s kept me away, but yeah.

Ultimately tl;dr of it is that I’ve just had life itself as a priority above all other things. & it’s bound to stay that way for a while, so yeah. But I still do want to see if, on occasions I’m on here posting art, I can maybe share some stuff around the OCs I’ve worked on/created/etc, as well as maybe lore for personal worldbuilding stuff?

I mean I need to share it on my toyhouse eventually anyway LOL, & AT LEAST on here I can make posts about OCs without being constrained to a fucking 280 char limit per post if I opt to do so 💀 Or see what else I choose to share as well as the art I make from time to time? Especially since I’ve been majorly revamping my own OCs & even with my sona I’ll soon be showcasing their proper ref in full with all forms of them/versions of em, both in & out of fandom but. yeah. Things to come.

Also- do expect more of this acct to start turning more OC focused or, IF I share fancharacters, its more centered around them... It doesn’t mean I’ll stop doing fanart no, since I do enjoy doing that on my spare time too, BUT I want my focus shifted primarily on OC content more since that’s my own personal passion anyway (be it OCs, fancharacters, self ship stuff too, or other’s OCs also) & cause I usually have more to ramble on about when it comes to OCs? So yeah. I plan to also implement other changes later into this acct but I’m presently just figuring that mess out while still being on semi-hiatus so yeah.

Okay I'm going to judge all my ocs over how OBJECTIVELY attractive they are.

Main Ocs:

Luluco: As hot as i am IRL, i don't think Luluco would count as particularly attractive. Mostly because of the amount of body horror they have going on.

Bloody: AS MUCH AS IT PAINS ME TO SAY THIS, i don't think Bloody would be particularly attractive to the average person!! 😭 Like she's a huge milf yeah but she's really skinny and really pale and has a weird fashion sense so :/

Shira: Shira is probably one of the hottest of my ocs. She's tall, curvy, has good fashion sense, pretty long hair... She's just really attractive.

Sheina: Face wise? In universe and probably irl not very attractive, I'm once again remaking her scars but they are simply pretty nasty. Body wise, she has a very attractive body, big booba, low-key ripped, probably big ass too even.

Takochu: The other one of my main ocs who's the most objectively attractive. Takochu has a nice figure, cares about her image, wears very cute clothes, has pretty hair, and even with the eyepatch she can make it look hot. Takochu is the best.

Juan: This motherfucker ugly af. He is basically destroyed, he hasn't slept in a long time, he barley eats anything, and doesn't have enough mental energy to care about be wears. He was average to attractive when younger at least.

Lola: I think Lola is mildly attractive. She's young she has freckles, pretty hair... Nah, she's really attractive.

Raúl: Just like Lola, mildly to highly attractive. He cares about his looks, has nice hair, and is mildly built, so objectively speaking, hot!

Secondary Ocs:

Dasha: I feel like Dasha would be mildly attractive. Her appearance is nice, good hair normal fashion, also big booba and defined arms under her big sweaters.

Shanlier: She's both attractive but not really. She's one of those so called BIMBOS, have you heard of them? Queen has a nice body but would walk out the shower naked without realizing why that's bad, plus hasn't brushed her hair in a long time.

Sonae: God i swear Sonae isn't as ugly as she looks in her icon i need to do her justice bro 😭😭

Nomi: She's average, nothing too attractive about her, but she isn't ugly.

Thomas: I mean even if you found insane twinks hot, he's in a similar page as Juan, probably more scars but less chronic pain, Thomas is too weird to be considered attractive.

Ace: OBJECTIVELY SPEAKING.... Ace is pretty cute, like they care for their appearence and sometimes wear pretty clothes plus look at their face and their hair i just ;_; they murderous baby :/

Shenlly: She is kinda average. I think she's hot but she doesn't have any big things going on about her, she's just a lady.

Cash: Hot, pretty attractive. He's literally a Bad Boy™, have you seen his hair? He probably wears a jean jacket and a white tee. This guy is also definitely buff. Cash is hot.

John: Mildly attractive, he's a pretty boy with clear skin and long hair. Not a big deal but he did have a gf tbf

Zella: Or Zelda it depends on my humor. Hhhhh she's a complicated case. I mean, objectively? Her face is kinda weird man. Like let's be fair here she is from the sims 3. I think she would qualify as attractive.

Rose and Alyssa: Both attractive, you can pick and choose based on aesthetic lol.

Rhys: Rhys is pretty average, there wasn't anything particularly attractive about him, really.

Penumbra: I know some of you guys would say the literal shadow is hot, but this is a objective rating so no, not attractive.

Rob: I need to shave his beard, that aside, he is probably mildly attractive, he's a tall buff (perhaps the most of my Ocs) bald guy with dark sunglasses. He's pretty cool, pretty attractive.

Tracy: Objectively? Not really attractive. Not because she's particularly ugly, i mean, she doesn't have any "ugly" features, other than perhaps a messy style. I will let you guys decide lol.

Elizabeth: LOL RICH KID!! Attractive.

Max: Objectively not attractive and she does not desire to change it. She prefers to keep it that way.

Randoms:

Personbug: They are actually pretty average, perhaps mildly unattractive if you think bad of eyepatchs, but it's not like they focus much on their outfits.

Bo: ...i don't know what to tell you.

Chad: He's attractive. He simply is. "Oh but he's f-" shut up. Leave. Chad is so fucking hot.

Donovan: He's a zombie, he has a free pass to being unattractive.

Dikx: I'm honestly not sure. Perhaps average, they don't have much going on. The body it's just that, a small body.

Matias: Average to attractive, he's just a twink.

Mateo: I'm sorry monsterfuckers but he's objectively NOT attractive.

Stardew Valley:

Mila: Attractive. She has a Russian accent. Do i need to say more? Well, i do, because on top of that she's buff. And she wears pretty bows and has a red lipstick. Hot girl.

Mora: Mildly attractive. She's pretty cute, hair is long and soft, but that's it.

Leon: Attractive, he's a hunk /hj, also cute pastel color fashion, that IS cute.

Genesis: Mildly attractive? His tits are huge, cool hair, dark glasses...

Damon: Complicated, because face wise i believe he is attractive, plus he's tall and has muscle definition. Problem is their fashion sense, but since they do change often, attractive.

Vinyl: Her character is still a sort of a big wip, but i think she's attractive too, she's Damon's twin after all.

Among us:

Usculbaba: Objectively unattractive. I mean, look at him. He's argentinian a mess. Only wears old band tshirts, hasn't washed his teeth in a long while, barely ever sleeps, his beard is a mess.

TransRight: Attractive. She's pretty cute, $100 smile too.

I want to post more writing here so have a sona/oc thing that takes place in a weird hunger games au (if you have seen floor 6/victor’s tower/as I grow older on ao3, this is that au but with ocs) warning for angst and a bit of referenced death.

when they were 5, fen already spent more time alone than with the other kids their age. that was the year they were selected to join the career training program, which took up most of the time they didn’t spend in school. whenever they were allowed freedom, however, they ran as far from their little village as they could. the cliffs that overlooked the endless sea were covered in soft grasses and wildflowers that bloomed in the spring and summer, and they would lie down on the bed that the plants made while watching the colorful ships in the water far below their perch. that fall was when kingdomcome won the hunger games, and her victory brought celebration to district 4 as well as an underlying sadness and melancholy that fen did not yet understand. they carried the sweets they collected during the festivities up to the cave they had found, humming the song some of the adults had been singing while they twirl in the sunset. the grass was dead and yellowed and a cold wind was sweeping in off the ocean and cutting past the layers they wore, but fen was happy.

when they were 7, fen started to learn some of the songs that the adults sing during parties and festivals, which cut further into their freedom time but they didn't mind. the melodies are fluid and moving while the harmonies are strong and supportive, and the lyrics are beautiful and poetic, even if they sing of a sadness that fen did not yet comprehend. they stole down to the docks to hear the songs surround them, as every worker sang along to keep the work at pace. the work songs were much more lively than some of the songs they heard at home and had been learning, songs with a slow and flowing pace that brought tears to their parents' eyes and talked about things like home and love and loss. fen preferred the work songs more, they thought, or the songs that people danced to in shoes that clattered on the ground and added to the music.

when they were 11, fen’s training with the career program ramped up in preparation for their introduction to the tribute pool the next year. they no longer spent as much time learning songs, that was time that could be spent training- learning a new weapon, learning a new skill, building more muscle. they pretended they did not see their parent’s faces fall whenever they returned late at night bruised and battered. they still made time for music, but once a month was far less frequent than before and it hurt whenever they passed the practice room and heard the voices. they tried to focus on training, on perfecting their form with a bow or a sword or whatever that day had to throw at them, but they found themself alone amidst the wild grasses on the verge of throwing up more times than they could count. they heard the songs ringing through a closed door and thought they might understand the underlying sadness.

fen was 13 when their name was pulled, 13 when they walked up to the stage and looked out over the crowd and no one’s hand came up to take their place. there was not enough time to go up to their little den and say goodbye to their home before the train would leave for the capitol, so they hugged their parents and thanked them for everything. fen was 13 when they heard the singing of a district as a cold hand gripped their arm and hauled them into a metal train car that would take them away from everything they’d ever known and they thought they understood the sadness in the song their people sang.

fen was 13 when they sobbed over a still body, gripped in their arms and touching their foreheads as their body heaved with cries of grief and mourning. the peacekeepers pulled them off of it, grabbed under their armpits in hazmat suits and dragged her into the waiting hovercraft. they were 13 when they walked onto the pristine tidiness of floor 7 and met arthur, who looked surprised when they flinched back from his outstretched hand. they sat alone in their room and sang until their throat gave out and they could sing no longer. they had been home and they had seen it, for the first time, as an outsider. tears rolled down their cheeks as their back pressed against the door and words of loss and love and grief poured out from their chest in between heaving gasps for air. fen was 13 when they left district 4 behind and finally began to understand why every song that was sung sounded so broken.

when fen was 15 they had led two other children to their deaths. some nights they still sang, broken and shattered notes that lesia echoed and repeated from her own place a floor down. their tribute that year had died, a girl that fen had vaguely been aware of throughout their time training, a year older than them. they haven’t spoken to lionage yet, even though they knew that it wasn’t her fault and she was the first person their age on the floor, so they just sat and sang their feelings to the sky and the pool. it was the wrong shade of blue and not nearly big enough, but it was something like home and the acoustics in the room were wonderful. they finally understand why even the celebration is somber, why anything to do with the games has such a sad air about it. fen is 15 and they are too young and too old for this knowledge. the questions no longer matter, fen is miles and miles away from the places where they did and now they have much more pressing things on their mind, but they are still a child who misses their family and wishes they could have a hug.

when fen was 5 they looked at the horizon and swore one day they would take a boat until they passed that far-off line.

What better way to start this blog off with a vtuber-sona that I am just now realizing is a glorified fursona but ironically with way less production value put into it?

I would joke that “God has not stayed my sinful hand,” with my lacking art skills, but now I realize that the result of my hubris will be my punishment.

“If you’re a god cultivating hope through myths, then I’m a tanuki.” “Good, we needed one of those.”

Well, as per the purpose of this blog, they exist outside of my fleeting consciousness now. Though, I was only able to visualize it in an SD format, and ideally there would also be a “nijisanji hot guy” avatar. 

So, the goal in making a vtuber was to get me to love aspects of myself that I have instead of romanticizing aspects of myself that I don’t have. The original idea was a vampire with a physique reminiscent of Eyeshield 21′s Kurita, a plain dress shirt adorned with blood and coffee stains, and messy hair that eclipsed their eyes.

However, that’s fairly plain, and I don’t quite have the Je ne sais quoi to even joke about being a count. This is a character that is supposed to be like looking into a mirror and that’s not really possible with the vampire design.

So I repurposed an old OC that only existed as a thought - a salaryman smelling of cigarettes and coffee that claims to be a tanuki, but is really just a lying human. Because I myself am American - whatever that means - I decided that while the story is the same, the design should invoke more raccoon than racoon dog. Also, I don’t smoke.

Anyway, within the hopemythos, an offhand lie causes him to be in too deep on the lie, as no one else can really tell he’s not a tanuki, and gets signed onto a myth-based talent agency.

Complications besides my own artistic limitations involve the association of raccoons with trash and potential self depreciation, and the inability to give a character with blinding bangs the racoon eyeshadow. There’s also the issue of having to convey emotion with just a mouth, but I think my obtuse solution still has a cute element.

Notes:

#E5B970 - What I presume the skin tone will be in hexcode. I will not pretend to know how to work with fleshy tones, so this is mostly for ballparking.

A - Hair poofs outwards and then curls inwards. Towards the neck from the sides, towards the eyes from the front. Many layers, very messy, stray cowlicks, etc. Color is light black with grey highlights. Eyes are perpetually hidden.

B - On the chibi, these are just racoon ears. Chestnut shaped, aim for distinction with racoon dog/tanuki ears. On the real avatar, they are clearly attached to a hairband. Since the haircolor is black, the hairband should be brown for visual clarity. On the real avatar, maybe the tip of a human ear is visible through the hair? What’s nice about static avatars is that this hairband can just be a transparent .png, and can just be replaced with alternates to create a “transform!!” effect - such as an Arknight’s Manticore hairband because vamp headwings-

C - Grey Dress shirt is the basic. But again, static avatars means alts are possible, and in this design space I am bound only by my limited imagination. Hawaiian Shirt Alt. “My eyes are... uhhhhh” T-shirt Alt. Raincoat Alt. The more important note is that - chibi or not - the character should be wide. No skinny bitches, the character should be fat - even with Neco Arc noodle limbs space needs to be conveyed. And not like, “dense” or “short stack,” I am committing, which I why I am grateful tanuki are fat and have fat-

D - Blue Jeans.

E - Dress shoes with LARGE platforms. Why not. No one will see them. Rain-boots alt. because I made the shirt too large and I like it too much to change it.

So yeah, all I need to do is to uncompress this mental image into a nijisanji hot guy. Because the chibi doesn’t exist. The vtuber doesn’t actually see themselves as a chibi. It’s just a hairband. What do you mean you see a chibi, that’s impossible, the vtuber can’t actually transform-

Oh man, im influenced by a bunch of art and comics but i couldnt pin down specific inspirations for those haha

as for the more broad sense, i also have a bunch of things! significantly, physics and space. it might not look like it but i think a lot about the logistics of things and whatever rules would exist in my universes etc. it does suck sometimes bc it prevents me from doing things just for the hell of it, but i love applying knowledge to things. and space has always been something really close to me, my dad’s an astrophysicist so ive been exposed to all sorts of cool knowledge about it since i was a wee bab 

i also really really love metaphors and symbolism, but rather than take inspiration from things i just use my own personal symbolism x) i put a lot of myself in what i do. which.. i guess could be said for many artists too so its not too special haha

and also as with many other artists, i AM fueled by spite significantly. specifically 1. for the people who once thought or who still think id never be good to do art, or that id never get better at what i do. 2. for people who draw wings wrong (especially professional people? what’s wrong with you. im begging you to look at a bird) 3. for people and companies that make terrible designs with terrible decisions (they fuel me to do better than them) 4. for people who believe that the only way to be good at art and design is to make overly complex and visually charged, detailed designs with many colors/hues (all my ocs are fairly simple and have the most limited colors kffhk) 

im sure there’s a lot more but ive spent a lot of time writing this out already and i cant really think of anything else so i hope this is a good enough answer!! 

god i do NOT have enough knowledge for this but what the fuck was up with the volturi lol. like fuckin, vampire goth club over there did nothing to change over hundreds of years, all of them still stuck in their medieval ways. i remember a plot point that was touched upon was that they had a specific person lure in a bunch of lost tourists through the sewer entrance so that the volturi could drink them and like ?? bro. how is this not investigated at any point, ever. like a shit ton of tourists just disappear ??? all the time?? and no one gives a fuck?? no investigation?? what do they do with the bodies?????

also, they were willing to blast the carlisle family into fucking orbit over Turning A Child (tm) into a vampire, but they had absolutely no qualms about vampire wars/soldiers where a lot of people were irresponsibly turned into neophytes for their strength (like jasper) or people who turned others just for the fuck of it or bc theyd have sickass powers (like benjamin. that was the sole reason for benjamin being turned. bc the dude could feel that benj would have cool powers and he absolutely did... he was a fucking avatar. controller of the elements. and he did absolutely jack shit in the books. im still so mad) 

but yeah anyway the volturi are big hypocrites. got nothing to say about their lifestyle and aesthetic tho bc italians just be like that

his horns and the spikes on his forearms and tail are rly solid and rly pointy so theyre about as dangerous as a solid, pointy big thing can be

the spikes on his neck and back are a lot softer though. theyre flat scales and are probably bendy, but still sturdy. they don’t have edges or anything so you wont be sliced up if you touch them but touching them is probably not too comfortable

alex would probably be a crocodile tbh! it’s one of the things i based his dragon form off of for the latest iteration, and i just think it fits him a lot (also its funny that crocodiles are water creatures but alex has a Big Dislike of water)

also i literally cannot see adri as anything other than a snake sklhfsdk. its what he is!! this is like asking someone’s favorite color but not letting them choose their actual favorite. do you want me to lie? do you want me to say something not true??

Honestly i always loved deer but refused to acknowledge it, especially to myself, and much less thought about having one as a sona bc “prey animals are lame” was rly prevalent in my circles for the longest time. everyone was a dragon or a wolf etc bc they wanted to be cool and so did i but i never vibed with it it took me a rly long time to just accept that i rly liked deer haha and i think what made me decide on it in the end was ‘well i can make a deer more monstery if i wanted to, i have that power’ and so i did  then later i tied the whole ‘wrong deer’ aesthetic to my own personal symbolism of always being picked on by many until i got sick of it and learned to stand up for myself. my sona is something that’s not for people to prey on anymore, and so am i c:

A couple years ago, I had the distinct feeling that you were someone that I ought to just... hope for the best for. 2018 fic year in review

Looking back, did you write more fic than you thought you would last year, less, or about what you’d expected?  Honestly I thought my writing was on the decline, I hadn’t had any inspiration for a long while, I didn’t really want to work on any of the WIPs I had, and I was facing a lot of stress at school during the beginning of the year, causing some seriously bad mental health. BUT! Thanks to my good friends in the Jekyll and Hyde Discord, I started getting inspiration and ideas to write about again! Also the decision to finally create an AO3 account to move over to really helped. So I actually ended up writing more than I expected to, considering that at the beginning of the year I was thinking that I’d have to give up writing altogether. 

What’s your own favorite story of the year?  Oof that’s a tough one, but I’m going to have to say Young and Rich and Wild since it was the discussion about this AU in the J&H Discord that actually kick-started my brain into generating ideas and writing again since I found it such a cool idea and I had a lot of fun writing and thinking this one out. Also! Normally I only write one-shots, and I don’t really do multi-chapter fics, so I’m proud that I felt like I could write a multi-chapter fic. Plus, in general, I can see a good improvement to my writing and there are some sections in there that I’m super proud of, and it’s still a WIP! So we have plenty more chapters to go!

Did you take any writing risks last year? Well two of the things I wrote this year I think had ‘writing risks’. Young and Rich and Wild is a multi-chapter fic where I actually took the time to plan it out, which is wildly out of my comfort zone and something that I think I’ve only ever done twice before. The Wolf Admission allowed me to explore some forgotten OCs in a fandom that has kinda died, plus I haven’t actually written much horror before and it was fun to experiment with a field of writing that I like a lot but haven’t done much of. 

Do you have any fanfic or profic goals for the new year? Well, I hope to finish Young and Rich and Wild this year because I’m really eager to get that done and finished. I also have quite a few ideas that have yet to be written about that I want to write about, plus I have some one-shot WIPs that have been in the works for far too long that I really wanna get done. I also have some non-fanfiction stuff that I wanna put out somewhere.

Best story of the year? Honestly? The Wolf Admission because fuck you I’m really proud of that one and it was so fun to write. Plus I started on it in like 2014, left it, and then came back to it late on into 2018 when I suddenly remembered that Drew was an OC that I had. I improved what was there so much, plus I honestly believe I wrote some of my best work in that fic. Shame it has like hardly any hits ;-; 

Most popular story of the year? Wow, easy. Young and Rich and Wild has 151 hits and 22 kudos, plus when I was writing small snippets off the top of my head and putting them in the J&H Discord, a good number of people there were like “dude you should absolutely write this”, so its had a lot of backing. 

Story of mine most under-appreciated by the universe, in my opinion:  *screams from the rooftops* THE WOLF ADMISSION but also a fic from 2017 called The Young Monsters because I really like that one and it doesn’t have as much love as it should. 

Most fun story to write: Yo, all of the fics that I wrote in 2018 were super fun but I think if I had to pick one it would be The Creation of Another, my second fic about my TGS Lodgersona. It involves Hyde getting annoyed at miniature dinosaurs!

Most unintentionally telling story: Weeeeellll I wouldn’t say it’s unintentional but my two Lodgersona fics, Elizabeth Wolfe joins the Society and The Creation of Another are basically just if I was able to live out my dream of having pet dinosaurs in a Victorian fantasy setting...

Biggest disappointment: I think currently it’s a WIP that I’m completely stuck on. I’ve been working on it for a while and I really want it to be good but currently I haven’t been able to figure out where it’s gonna go. It’s a one-shot about TGS Hyde jumping through a portal and ending up in 1930s London, and you all can probably guess what happens next... what is set in 1930s London and could be related to J&H? Remember that it’s ME writing this, the designated Official Leader and War Veteran of this fandom.... That’s right kids my all time favourite TV show ITV’s Jekyll and Hyde. Basically, TGS Hyde and ITV Hyde (aka My Son) meet each other and fight or something? Idk.... do you see my problem? Idk what to do with this situation. 

Biggest surprise: Y’know I wasn’t expecting my two Lodgersona fics to do as well as they did because normally everyone seems to hate OC and sona fics but what d’ya know a decent amount of people liked them!!

A big redesign of my Transformers sona. Yes I have one. Been having for many years. It's actually my first time telling about it's existence (not counting DeviantArt where it was born), even though I showed it like twice on ig? So (kinda) a new design, new silhouette, even new pronouns (!), just personality more or less the same. But more depressed I guess. I'm most likely gonna upgrade my other ocs' designs too sooner or later

//Sona. If people actually take time to read what her power cords do she has a shit ton of shit she can do other than spam q and w. For example if you ult with power cord E it not only stuns, but also slows the enemy. She has a lot of depth to her kit that a lot of people miss out on.

Extra commentary under the cut about shipping and plotting (semi negative): 

I write some super divergent interpretations, and sometimes that gets me in trouble with... people just not liking how I see the characters and putting their own vision on it. Or just backing off. I’m kinda insecure about it  ( ‘kind of’  ) and that usually informs how seriously I take a ship or interaction or whether I get involved at all. They just don’t match the dynamic people expect... I’ve had people act disappointed and feel really let down and it really wears me out. I’m pressed up against “create something unique so you don’t hurt your duplicates” and “not so unique or divergent that it’s basically an OC” and I get into this kind of mess easy. There’s a lot about my interpretations I can’t compromise on, but I’m so wiling to work with you on so many things. So, I know it’s a terribly naive thing to say, but please be gentle with me. I bruise really easily and cry a lot.
