using a clip from "the electric company" (2009) for journalism tomorrow, and i decided to rewatch the episode the clip was in and my God i forgot how funny francine's summary of "little women" is (granted she was kind of tricked by hector & keith lol). for context, francine and lisa are in a debate as they run for book club president. francine goes:

f: "Little Women" is my absolute favorite book. i've read it over a hundred times. i guess what i love most about "little women" is that it's called "little women", but it's actually about ninjas.

s: i'm sorry. uh. what did you just say?

f: "little women" is the story of a plucky group of tiny, heroic, lady ninjas who band together to defend mt. rushmore. they may be tiny, samantha, but i think they're lady ninjas we can all look up to.

l: excuse me. there are no tiny, lady ninjas in "little women"

f: hahhahahhaha of course there are. nice try, lisa. samantha, you may just wanna go ahead and declare me the winner of this debate.

s: actually, she's right. there are no tiny, lady ninjas in "little women", so.

Dead on Main Head Cannon

My favorite head cannon for this ship is that when they're feeling petty and pissed off at each other they'll send the other a purple hyacinth. It hits both of their dead, melodramatic souls perfectly. Flower language for purple hyacinth is "my regrets follow you to the grave" and that just vibes the same as "my condolences for your stupidity" to me at least.

Jason in a meeting as Red Hood with his gang. Flower shop worker guy comes in and says with the monotone of a dead-souled retail worker: "Delivery for Mr. Hood?"

Jason raises his hand with a sardonic head tilt.

Flower shop guy drops a small pot of purple hyacinth in front of him on the table and then reads off a small white card. "For leaving me to meet your dad by myself. Love, Danny." He puts the card back in his pocket. "Enjoy your flowers." He says in a way that makes Jason certain the man has no idea what the word enjoy actually means before shuffling out of the warehouse.

Hood's men all sit there silently for several long moments before one of them finally dares to speak.

"You made them meet the parents by themselves?"

Jason let's out a long heavy sigh.

"Anyone got a couch I can use tonight?"

i really don’t think it’s “typical dragon age fandom nonsense” for people to be genuinely upset about the world state choices. combat, level design, art direction, gameplay gimmicks, those have all varied across each dragon age game. the one thing that’s remained constant are nods to our previous choices.

How do we support Cubans and their resistance to western imperialism

I'm so glad you asked anon! A great way to start is to by actually listening to Cubans and their own stories and news. There are some really good organizations and accounts on Instagram (and many of them have their own publications outside of Instagram, so if you don't have the app, you can still follow what's going on)

Here are the ones I recommend:

@ bellyofthebeastcuba < news outlet that focuses on cuba

@ nationalnetworkoncuba < this is a coalition of many different orgs that are actively working to get the US gov to lift the blockade, etc; they post a lot of actionable things you can do to get involved physically, as well as opportunities for stuff like webinars! here is their website.

@ ratbcuba < this is a british org dedicated to solidarity with cuba

@ caribbeansolidaritynetwork < not strictly cuba oriented, but a network committed to the liberation of all of the caribbean! they also have events like study circles (and you can access their readings online if you can't go in person)

@ ghpartners < this is a nonprofit actively working to get donations in order to send medical supplies to cuba, right now they are working on delivering pacemakers to the island! here is their website.

Other than that, I really, really encourage you to start learning as much as you can on Cuban history and the history of their resistance, as well as their history of working alongside other resistance movements. Cuba worked in solidarity with the Black Panthers, with numerous African countries fighting for their own liberation, with Vietnam, and even more. National Network on Cuba has a really good political education page where you can start that includes a book list and articles list, as well as youtube videos of documentaries. This is a Google drive from NNOC that introduces the concept and history of Guantanamo Bay. There's going to be an Afro-Cuban reading list released on the NNOC site soon, so definitely check back for it.

One of the reasons I want Morpherine to be canon is for tumblrs reaction. I want to see my rarepair trend the way Poolveribe did (it was a rare pair until the movie). I wanna see homophobes getting mad that the most masculine character in the show is a "queer" like he didn't date Hercules in one comic. I wanna see the reactions of the like, 12 Morpherine shippers who shipped them before it was canon and SHIT their pants when they scream about it on tumblr. I want to see the ao3 fics for them increase. I want to see Morph become a more popular character after it.
