The man sighs. He’s gone for four days on important business and he comes back to his office being completely emptied out? How the hell was this even accomplished? Better yet, who the hell even had the time to do this? The Psyncer approaches the ‘empty room’, preparing to assess the damage that had been done.

    [Snrk...Hahahahaha!]     “And what exactly is so funny?”     [Oh nothing. It’s just great to see you so frustrated.]    “Right...”

The blonde merely shakes his head at his partner’s odd attitude, continuing forward into his office until-

RIIIIIP.

Jin tears through the mural, sending him plummeting into the ball pit below. For a moment, he doesn’t move, sinking deeper and deeper into the pit. Had he really fallen for such an absurd trick? Furthermore, had the one responsible really gone through the effort for such a stupid joke? Knowing his allies, the answer wasn’t exactly surprising...

There is a small, defeated sigh, before he sits back up, popping his head out of the ball pit. Shockingly, it looked like the room was untouched (although knowing Wylan, he likely moved a few things out of place.). It was a shocking, but welcome surprise...It was just too bad that that pleasant surprise was overshadowed by his usual annoyance...

    “Boss! Wylan! Get in here!”

The younger man responds through the (incredibly convenient) communication device linked through their vehicles. Just what was Wylan going on about this time? It was just some stupid tourist trap...

The two of them pass by yet another advertisement, excitedly singing the praises of Pistachio Land! It certainly looked exciting...at least to everyone except Jin...

“Bigger is better! That’s so true, bigger is better!”

    “Look, you can freak out all you want, but-”

“Jin, I don’t know if I’m gonna be able to forgive you or myself if we don’t see the biggest pistachio in the world!”

    “I can’t stress how okay I am with that...”

“IT’S THE LARGEST PISTACHIO IN THE WORLD!”

    “We’re not going to fucking Pistachio La-”

Despite the arguing the two men would eventually find themselves parked along the road, and standing before them was the huge majestic nut. Both men simply stood in silence, quietly admiring the beauty of the world’s largest pistachio. Even if Jin loathed to admit it, it was an impressive sight. Surely it took a great effort to not only create such a behemoth, but to also get it into such a perfect position. Was he wrong? Was this worth the stop? There was little time to think about that, as his self-reflection was interrupted by a content sigh from his companion.

 “Okay, well I’m satisfied!”

And just like that, they were off, ready to hit their second Rainforest Cafe!

The younger Psyncer shook his head. Just what the hell was this man thinking? Even if he was skilled, something that Jin held little doubt about, he certainly wasn’t invincible. ABIS had only recently found the information necessary to arrest a man who had been suspected of kidnapping charges. That alone was enough to consider him a danger to the public, but considering his rumored gang connections...Just running in without a plan could spell disaster. Even if Wylan was...a lot of things, really, it wasn’t like Jin wanted to see him get hurt.

    “Look...At least let me come with you. Wouldn’t you feel more comfortable knowing that someone is there to watch your back?”

That didn’t feel like an unreasonable request. Not to mention that with both of their AIs, the so-called odds would be greatly shifted in their favor.

The ABIS agent’s eyes shoot to the door, his attention trained on the unexpected visitors. This was...Agent Rechtur’s wife, right? What was her name again? Tae? Mae..? And then there was his daughter...

    [Their names are Sae and Seina, Jin...]     ‘Right...’

The man stands up to greet the two, clearing his throat...

    “Agent Rechtur had to run an errand for Boss. He should be back in about fifteen minutes. Could I get either of you anything while you wait? Coffee? Water?”

Jin quirks a brow at Sae, before dropping down to a knee, properly facing the younger of the visitors. Unlike her mother, Jin had never once met Seina, although he had heard her father brag about her on more than just a few occasions. Seeing how much of a family man Wylan actually happened to be was...surprising, to say the least...

    “Hey there. It’s nice to meet you. My name is Jin. Your dad has told me a lot about you.”

On Jin and somniums-

What was his first somnium experience like and how did he feel first learning about the tech?

Is he quick to grasp solutions or does he struggle?

Does he prefer to get information in the real world with a psync as the last resort or does he utilize the option fairly quickly?

How is Gouma as a companion when exploring the mental space?

Does he tell Pewter to be quiet about the 6 minute time limit?

I’m going to answer two of these questions out of order just for the sake of the flow of things, but...

Jin's first Somnium experience was about a month into his time as a member of ABIS. There was a kidnapping case that he had been assigned to and although they had a suspect, there was no evidence that they could use to arrest him. Although frustrated, Jin was able to catch the man making a careless slip of the tongue and was given permission to psync with him. Needless to say, he was able to find all the information he needed to pressure him into confessing. It was an enlightening experience, although fighting with his "partner" on how to proceed wasn't easy the first time around. They would get a bit better with this over time, but that first time around was definitely more bickering than it was solving the actual somnium.

As for how he felt about the technology...Considering how much of a skeptic Jin is (and how...odd Boss tends to act), I don't think it should come as too much of a surprise to say that he found the idea of somniums and psyncing to be utterly ridiculous. Of course, he doesn't understand the science or anything behind it.

Jin is very confident in his skills as a detective. So much so that he considers psyncing and somniums to be an afterthought or a crutch in most cases. His skills in reading suspects and analyzing crime scenes were already great to begin with, but with Gouma around to provide him information that he would otherwise be unable to obtain on the field, he has many advantages that would make psyncing overkill. Of course, it isn’t always that easy, so he will relent and ask for Boss’ ok to psync in cases where finding hard evidence is next to impossible, but he certainly doesn’t enjoy having to go to such measures.

When it comes to the somniums themselves, he's usually fairly quick to grasp the solutions. Especially when it comes to the answers being more logical like in Nirvana Initiative. Admittedly, he does struggle slightly with some of the stranger solutions seen in the first game, but that does lead very well into the next subject...

Gouma is certainly interesting among the AI Balls when it comes to exploring the Somniums of those being Psynced with. While Jin is focused on logical and precise answers to proceed, Gouma is the opposite. He is very interested in finding out-of-the-box options to unlock the mental locks of the person of interest. Especially when Jin's usual logical approach isn't working. This does cause the two of them to butt heads at times, as Jin would much prefer to do the obvious solution and get it over with, while Gouma is much more inclined to test the waters, especially if they have plenty of time left to try things out.

As for Pewter...Jin is probably the only person who doesn't get on his case for the six minutes reminder, funny enough. He understands the reasoning behind the reminder itself when fools like Date, Mizuki, and Wylan are at the helm.

Mame is just going to fall asleep, and borrow Jin's shoulder for her pillow...

"Hm?"

The blonde's eyes shift to his side as a light weight falls on his shoulder. It seemed that Amame had dozed off, leaning against the detective as she fell into her slumber. Had he truly made the conversation that uninteresting or had she simply worn herself down working on her music? It was difficult to tell. Before too long, Luka hopped up onto the couch, and with a yawn crawls onto the woman’s lap. It looked like they both needed some sleep. It was a cute sight...in a way.

There is a sigh, before a smile. There was nothing that could be done...At least not at the moment...

How does Jin feel about wink psyncing? Does he do it often? Does Gouma like to do it?

Like most of his resources from ABIS, Jin finds Wink Psyncing to be a bit of a crutch. As I've said in a few previous posts, he would much rather use his own skills as a detective to solve a case and only use the resources provided by his AI when he's hit a bit of a wall. Especially in a scenario such as Wink Psyncing where the information received might not even be relevant to the case at hand. Of course, it has it's uses when the time calls for it, but I don't think he would be using it as liberally as Mizuki or Ryuki.

As usual, Gouma is the opposite. He loves getting the opportunity to delve into the minds of others and learn some juicy details. Even if it isn't necessarily relevant, it could sure as hell be interesting!

And no. He wouldn't be caught dead making those ridiculous poses...

The blonde grimaces as his fellow detective pushes the hot dog in his direction. God, even the smell made him feel sick to his stomach. Jin had half a mind to just knock it out of Wylan's hand. It wasn't like he couldn't get another one anyway...

"Couldn't you at least share something edible with me?"

"...I'm trying to figure you out but it's really difficult!" So says Ellie, passing by Jin's table as he drinks his coffee for the Xth day in a row. "Hmmm. Well! Enjoy your coffee! And! Let me know if you need anything else, okay?"

"You say that as though there's anything to figure out to begin with..."

The ABIS agent takes a sip of his coffee, merely giving the 'mermaid' a side glance. He had never been particularly fond of dealing with this one (although saying that he was fond of any of the girls was certainly a stretch). Jin simply couldn't understand how one could be so enthusiastic about their job. Especially if they were forced to wear such a ridiculous outfit. Was she just an idiot? That was certainly the only conclusion that Jin could come to...Either that or she was just a freak...

"Actually, I would like some more cream, if you don't mind...Milk is also fine."

"So, are you gonna introduce me to your new friend?" It's a dead body. Jin is investigating a dead body when Wylan arrives on to the crime scene. Overcast. 2pm. Probably gonna rain before too long. There's a complaint shared over the channel from Lyla in the wake of the 'greeting'.

[Wylan, that joke was not made in good taste...!]

[Wylan! Lyla! They sent you guys here too? This is looking pretty cut and dry for two Psyncers.]

The blonde's AI greets the pair as he remains fixated on the corpse. There were already various ideas running through his head regarding the crime. Whoever was involved here was either an idiot or in a hurry...More than likely both. They certainly didn't seem to care how sloppy they were with all the evidence left behind...

"Agent Rechtur...I don't suppose that you could show a little more tact? This man was just murdered..."

"And that's why I didn't ask you..."

Jin walks past the other man, only paying him a small glance before continuing on his way. If anything, it seemed as though he was trying to resolve this case quickly and efficiently. And as usual, it seemed that he didn't even wish to entertain the thought of receiving help...

"Apologies for making you come all this way for nothing. But I have this one handled..."

Of course Jin wasn’t being entirely honest. His sight had...strayed, so to speak, but only for a moment. Had Kizuna really been watching him like a hawk this entire time? If so, she was even more of a nuisance than he originally thought. Couldn’t she mind her own business?!

I think the thing that bothers Jin the most about all of this is that the two of them care at all to begin with. Jin isn’t exactly secretive (for the most part) and considering that Sunfish Pocket is a public restaurant, it’s not like he’s hiding the fact that he goes there or anything like that. More than likely, he’s going to simply ignore them while he enjoys his coffee and maybe ask if the idiots can be kicked out. Honestly, he’s just embarrassed that these two are his boss and his senior...

The blonde raises a brow at the woman. What had brought this on? It almost sounded like the plot to one of those awful horror movies that Amame was always talking about. Of course, this wasn’t a movie and Jin knew exactly how he felt about a subject like this...

    “It’s a bit difficult to say. I think it would depend on what that person did or how they hurt my family. If their actions were egregious enough and I were given the opportunity, I would do whatever I could to get back at them.”

After all, if Jin were to ever find that man, revenge would be of the utmost priority. That was the goal that he had been working towards for so long. Of course, he was a member of law enforcement with various resources at his disposal. He wouldn’t recommend that a normal person put themselves in harms way, by any means...
