Incorrect Quotes - Hellsing Trio
Alucard, bursting into the room: You two are having sex! Shelby, not looking up from their book: Really? Anderson, why didn’t you tell me? I would have put my book down.
Alucard: Hi, sorry I’m late. I was doing a couple of things and got distracted. Shelby: I’m “a couple of things”. Anderson: I’m “got distracted”.
Anderson: Why is everyone so obsessed with top or bottom? Honestly, I’d just be excited to have a bunk bed. Alucard: Alucard: I'm gonna tell them. Shelby: Don't you dare.
Alucard: Ooh, somebody has a crush Anderson: Pfft, I don’t have a crush on Shelby I just think they’re cool, it’s not like I stay up at night thinking about them. *Later that night* Anderson, very much awake: Uh oh.

this is the place.
shelby turned her truck off and stepped out, grabbing her cane and using it to lean her weight onto it. the breeze parted locks of dark brown hair, earrings moving along with the breeze. there was a large moving van behind her and despite only having two movers, walter had informed her that the new security would help move her things into the estate.
she glanced at it from outside the gate, still noting how huge it was. it had been a once in a lifetime chance to own a home this big and she had heard stories about the estate, supernatural ones.
being that it was 2069, the supernatural were more known to the public, but more often than not, most paranormal creatures stayed in hiding. which shelby didn’t blame them. humans feared the unknown and what they couldn’t control.
shelby glanced down at her watch, noting the time and nearly jumped out of her skin as the gate beeped green and it slid open. shelby watched as an older man wearing the attire of a formal butler, came out to meet her. “afternoon, mr. dornez,” she greeted.
“please, call me walter,” he smiled. “did you find the place alright?”
“it’s kind of hard to miss, actually,” she chuckled softly.
a large group of men came out the estate and approached the movers truck, helping the movers grab things and start taking them inside. walter had already prepped them to know where to put things. shelby hadn’t had to worry about furniture or appliances, since the estate already came with them.
“who are they?” shelby asked, watching the men curiously.
“those are your security, miss o’viere.” walter replied, straightening up. “the hellsing estate has many valuables, priceless and no. they have shifts each day, twelve hours each and they take two days off a week, usually during the weekends. we’ll have more arriving within the week once their training is complete,”
“but why would i need security?” she said, glancing at walter.
“i’ll tell you soon, but don’t worry. these men are top of their class and follow orders with no issue, even if that order might be….on the darker side,” walter replied. “come, let’s get you inside so we can organize your belongings,”
they walked inside and since she had already been in the building once, she knew where the rooms were. the living room was spacious, the kitchen massive and fully stocked with fresh, healthy food, sweets and favorite snacks among everyone. the second floor held her massive office, which would also be her reptile room since she ran a reptile rescue. as the cages were placed, she turned on the lights and made sure every reptile had the correct lighting and was good on water and food.
“you have quite a lot of reptiles, miss o’viere,” one of the men commented.
“yeah, i have an obsession with them,” shelby said with a soft smile.
kirby, her black cat, jumped onto her desk and meowed, sitting down on the corner. shelby rubbed behind her ears and worked on setting up her desk as the men brought in everything for her office.
it was about two hours before everything was placed in the estate according to how it had been planned and shelby thanked everyone for helping. she read through all of the paperwork, and besides the fact that she was already well-off with her own professions, all of the money from the hellsing estate had been given to her, which she put in a separate account. the estate was paid off, but taxes were outrageous, which she understood.
“looks like you’re settled in,” walter said with a soft chuckle as he walked into the room.
“if it wasn’t for the men, this would have taken me weeks to get settled,” shelby said, leaning back in her seat.
“nonsense,” walter said. “now, why don’t you come to the kitchen with me? i’m making one of your favorite meals.”
“which one?”
“beef and noodles with mashed potatoes,”
“you have tempted me with food, walter,”
~ ~
when shelby and walter reached the first floor, she was greeted with the smell of food, delicious food. she could feel her mouth water. walking into the kitchen, shelby took a seat at the large table and looked around. she noted two giant crockpots on the counter, smelling beef. “what’s in the crockpots?”
“one has a roast and the other is vegetarian, since we have quite a few men who are vegetarian,” walter replied. “it’s just about done and the night watch starts at 7 pm. they wake up at 6 pm and have an hour to eat and relax before going for their shift. the third and fourth floor are for them.”
“do you cook every day?” shelby asked, arching an eyebrow. “i can cook for myself to take some off of your plate,”
“nonsense, i enjoy cooking,” he said, stirring the potatoes in the pot. “although we do go through a lot of paper plates,”
“i can imagine,” she nodded.
“after dinner, i’d like to take a few vials of your blood so i can get your bloodwork done. i know you’ve already had your physical last year, and i’ve set you up with an excellent cardiologist at the hospital. your appointment with him is later this week,” walter explained.
“walter, you don’t need to do all of that. really, its not necessary,” shelby said, surprised.
“your health is the upmost priority,” walter said firmly, turning towards her.
“okay,” she nodded quickly.
after dinner, walter took her to a spacious room with a few machines. he took three vials of blood, checked her blood pressure, oxygen and checked her heart as well. by the time everything was done, it was already pushing ten pm.
“i think i’m gonna head to bed early,” shelby said, getting up.
“you’ve had a long day, miss o’viere. please, get some rest,” walter told her.
~ ~
as midnight came around, walter sent off two of the blood vials, while he took one and made his way down to the basement of the manor. he went down the stairs, and down the hallway to the very end where a large, steel door was. he unlocked it with a bronze key, and slid open the door, where he saw two motionless figures against the wall.
“it’s time for you two to wake up now,” walter said, raising his arm before throwing the vial onto the rock floor. the vial shattered and blood began to pool around the broken pieces of glass.
immediately, the two figures against the wall began to stir, bones groaning as they shifted. the tallest of the two jerked and began to move, shifting itself to its knees, and lunging for the blood on the floor. the other figure was next, and they both began to drink up the blood from the floor.
“that’s the blood of your new master,” walter spoke. “you’ll do well to respect her. everything of hellsing belongs to her, including you two,”
the creatures gulped down the remainder of the blood, slowly standing up. orbs of blood red opened, staring at walter with intensity.
“a new master?” the shorter of the two asked, a female voice.
“yes,” walter replied. “she’s a strong, young woman. you will do well to respect her and her wishes,”
the taller of the two laughed softly, a deep male voice that echoed off the walls of the room. “and what is her name, walter?”
“her name is shelby o’viere,” walter answered. “she doesn’t know about the two vampires she already owns,”
“how interesting and she still bought us without even knowing,”
laughter echoed in the room, as the taller of the two vampires changed its form, to that of a tall man wearing black clothing and a deep red trench coat and white gloves. the other vampire shifted herself as well, to that of the hellsing uniform, a deep red with tights, boots and gloves.
“this’ll be interesting,” the male spoke in a giddy tone, before walking out of the room, following by the other vampire.
“alucard,” walter said, causing said vampire to pause. “don’t frighten her, she only arrived today,”
“no promises,”
~
shelby woke to the feeling of being watched.
her eyes opened and she blinked a few times, sitting up slightly from being on her side. she rubbed at her eyes, before shifting herself into a sitting position and glancing around the room. even in the darkness of the room, she could still make out shapes.
she saw the darkness shift, as if someone was hiding in the darkness.
shelby slowly reached under her other pillow, her fingers wrapping around the handgun she always kept on her for safety reasons. her thumb flicked the safety off and as whatever was in the darkness shifted again, she quickly brought out her gun and fired pulled the trigger. the gunshot was loud and echoed in the large room and she saw bright red blood spurt out of the person in front of her.
when her gun clicked empty, bellowing laughter of a deep male voice bounced off the walls.
“my, you’ve got some spunk!” the voice cackled. “walter was right about you,”
shelby’s hand shook in confusion and frozen fear as the figure approached, the holes in the torso of said person nonexistent. it was that of a tall, slender man, wearing what looked like black clothing and boots, with a deep red trench coat over it. the face came into view in the moonlight and the man smiled, showing rows of sharp teeth, two of which she saw were a bit longer than the rest.
vampire. shelby thought, fear still holding her still.
the man’s face came into view, the gaze of blood red eyes on her smaller form. the man had raven black hair, and although it fell over some of his face, she could make out the pale, youthful features of the man. he couldn’t have looked any older than herself.
shelby had never seen a vampire before. she knew they existed, believed they existed, but she didn’t expect one to be in her bedroom, its gaze that of a predator staring down at his helpless prey.
“your gun is empty,” the man taunted, a sinister tone in his voice.
as he approached the bed, she reached into her night stand and pulled out a magazine of the same bullets, clicking the empty one out and putting the new one in. she clicked it into place and aimed it at the man as he approached her bed.
“bullets won’t do anything, but i admire your courage,” he cooed.
once the man was within arm’s reach of her, he lifted a leg and placed his knee on the bed, an arm shooting just past her to rest a large hand on the headboard behind her. as he leaned in, she pressed the gun to his chest, although knowing bullets wouldn’t harm this vampire.
“your blood is exquisite, sweet with a kick to it,” he chuckled.
“back off,” she warned.
“and why would i do that? i have to get to know my new master, now don’t i?”
before shelby could respond, her bedroom door opened and walter stood there, looking unamused. “alucard, i told you not to frighten her,” he said sternly.
the vampire – alucard – chuckled once more and backed off, taking a few steps back from the bed. shelby lowered her gun, clicking the safety back on before slipping it back underneath her pillow.
“walter, what’s going on?” she asked calmly.
“come downstairs and i’ll explain everything,”
~
“so not only have i bought a whole ass estate, but now i also own two vampires?”
“that’s correct,” walter nodded. “alucard has been in the family for decades and seras has been here since 1999. seras is alucard’s fledging,”
shelby rubbed a hand on her temple, releasing a soft sigh. “the fine print wasn’t lying,”
“no,” walter shook his head.
“i don’t like the idea of owning vampires,” shelby said.
“nonetheless, they are yours to command and do with as you wish. alucard is hellsing’s greatest weapon and has always thought himself as such,” walter said.
“command to do what exactly?”
“well, if there’s a threat to the country or to hellsing, you can command alucard or seras to take care of the threat. like a rogue vampire or a group of vampires that slaughter innocent civilians,”
“so if there’s a threat….”
“you command alucard or seras to take care of said threat,” walter finished. “they will also protect you, as their main priority,”
“this is crazy,” she said softly to herself.
“it will take some time for you to adjust,” walter said. “but i have high hopes that you’ll do just fine once you’ve adjusted. oh and one more thing about alucard. he has a unique ability that allows him to be everywhere and nowhere,”
shelby pursed her lips for a moment, knowing exactly what that meant. “schrödinger's cat, omnipresence,”
“he accidentally absorbed the soul of a former enemy while regenerating and it caused him to vanish for thirty years while he killed every soul inside him, minus the last one he absorbed. as long as alucard’s aware of himself, he’s indestructible.” walter explained. “so don’t be startled if you see him more than one place at once,”
shelby rubbed at her eyes, exhausted. “i’m going back to bed. i have a lot to do tomorrow,”
“get some sleep, miss o’viere,”

when shelby woke around three pm the next day, she realized she barely remembered waking up and talking to walter before her surgery. she remembered seeing him and exchanging a few words, but that was all she remembered. she was slow to wake up from the anesthesia. once she was awake, the doctor informed her that the surgery went well, but physical therapy would be mandatory since there was still damage in her bones. her wrist and hand would never be the same, but she would still be able to use them.
the doctors wanted to keep her overnight just in case of any complications, but if there were none, she could go home the next day.
and thank god she did, because she was sick of being in the hospital. she was discharged with strict instructions on not to use her wrist or hand for anything and to be on strict rest for a week before she could get up and walk around. she had a sling for her arm to keep her injuries in check. not only that, but she had bruised knuckles on her right hand, a bruise and black eye on her face from hitting the ground so roughly and multiple other bruises and lacerations. physically, she looked like a mess.
seras and some members of her security personnel were there to greet shelby when she walked in through the front doors. “master!” seras exclaimed happily, approaching her. her red eyes landed on shelby’s bandaged injuries. “oh, master…”
“i’ll be alright, seras. it’ll be a long recovery, but i’m okay,” she said with a soft smile. “where’s alucard?”
“sleeping. he was up all day yesterday,” seras replied.
“ah, poor thing,” shelby said. “seras, do you mind helping me wash up? i can’t necessarily do it by myself right now,”
“of course, master!” seras said and before shelby could protest, the other woman was lifting shelby into her arms with a smile. “off we go!”
shelby was glad that she had seras help her wash up. it wasn’t that she didn’t trust walter or alucard, but she had never been naked in front of a man before, so she was more comfortable with seras helping her.
“you’re beautiful, master,” seras complimented with a smile.
“you’re beautiful too, seras.” shelby smiled back, reaching up with her right hand to tenderly stroke the vampire’s cheek. seras seemed to melt into the touch, nuzzling her face into shelby’s hand.
after the bath, shelby got dressed with seras’ help and to the bed, where she already had things on her night stand. a glass of water, her medication, tissue box. she was set for a nap.
“do you have everything, master?” seras asked.
“i think so, seras,” shelby nodded. “i’ll be alright. go get some sleep before night comes,”
“rest well, master,” seras said before leaving the room, closing the door behind her.
shelby took her medication and shifted herself to lay down. she knew laying on her left side wasn’t possible, so she would have to make due with her back or right side. as she got comfortable, she felt another presence in the room and opened her eyes to see a large black shape coming up towards her side of the bed. she assumed it was alucard, given the red eyes, but instead of two, there was three and a snout.
a dog. alucard had changed his form into that of a massive, black dog with six glowing right eyes. she patted the bed and he jumped on, coming up on her other side and laying down beside her, resting his head on her stomach. she ran her fingers through the soft fur and the six eyes blinked slowly, as if enjoying the contact.
“good boy,” she said softly, letting her eyes close. she stroked her fingers through alucard’s fur until she dozed off for a much-needed nap.
when she woke up around six, she wandered downstairs into the kitchen to make herself a cup of coffee. seras was drinking a packet of blood and walter was making dinner. “have a good nap, ma’am?” walter asked.
“i did, thank you. where’s alucard?” she asked.
“master is patrolling the grounds,” seras answered.
shelby took a sip of her coffee and that’s when she noticed the large bouquet of bright red roses in a beautiful vase in the middle of the table. she gulped down her coffee before speaking. “who are the roses from?” she asked.
“oh, those? they’re from captain shawn o’riley. he stopped by while you were resting and said he wanted to drop these off and said he hoped you got better. he also left a card for you,” walter explained.
shelby set her coffee down for a moment and opened up the card that had been between the roses and read it.
miss shelby o’viere-hellsing
my team and I hope you recover well from your injuries. we were impressed to see that you defended yourself well from the vampire yesterday. if you have time, i’d love to find us a nice restaurant to go to and talk. my number is below.
sincerely, shawn o’riley.
shelby noticed the number at the bottom of the get-well card and she arched an eyebrow at it. “looks like he’s asking me for a date,”
“a date? how interesting!” walter grinned. “mr. o’riley did seem interested in you, ma’am.”
“yeah, he seems nice, but i’m not really interested in him,” shelby said, putting the card down. “but, see that these roses get special treatment.”
“of course, ma’am.” walter nodded.
“the human is too old for you,” alucard said in a matter-of-factly tone as he phased through the wall and into the kitchen. “he’s getting his hopes up. i would love to be the one to tell him he has no chance,”
“leave him be, alucard.” shelby said firmly. “i’ll tell him soon, anyway-,”
before she could finish speaking, her phone began ringing the fight theme song from final fantasy vii and she answered it, noticing it was her brother. “hey shepherd, what’s up? it’s a little late for you to be calling.”
“i know, but i needed to tell you this before you found out for yourself,” shepherd said with an exasperated sigh. “mom found out where you live,”
shelby felt her blood run cold. “how? how did she find out?”
“the only thing i can think of is that our sister looked through my phone when i was at the house the other day and was able to get your location there. as far as I know, they’ll be arriving monday and staying for a week at one of the hotels in town.”
“is she coming along with them?” shelby asked, tightening her grip on her phone.
“yes,”
“doesn’t mom understand that i have a restraining order against our sister for a reason?!”
“she does, but she feels it would be unfair for mary-anne to stay behind while we go to london.”
shelby released a heavy sigh, feeling tears burning the corners of her eyes. this was the stress that she had moved away from. “alright, alright….just get the hotel you guys are staying at and what time you’ll be arriving. seth will help you guys get around since he’s been to london before. let me know what time you guys are planning to come to the manor and i’ll send a car for you,”
“will do, sis. and….i’m sorry. had i known mary-anne would pull such an act, i wouldn’t have left my phone out,”
“it’s not your fault, shep. i’ll deal with it when the time comes.”
“alright. love you, sis.”
“love you, too. bye.” she said and hung up, before slumping down in her chair, her hand over her eyes.
“is that the sister that crippled you?” alucard questioned.
“yes, it is,” shelby replied, wiping at her eyes with her thumb. “she is part of the reason why i moved to london in the first place. and now she’s disobeying court orders to spite me.”
“shall i dispatch them?”
“no!” she snapped, before taking a deep breath. “i’m sorry, i don’t mean to snap. i just….when i think i might actually try and live my life, something has to come in and try to ruin it,”
“y’know, we could have the queen arrest your sister upon arriving at the hospital,” walter suggested.
“no, she’s got a record on her already for stalking and harassment,” shelby sighed. “i still love her, it’s just…what happened with the accident. i can’t forgive her for it,”
“so what will you do sir?” walter asked.
“i’m going to allow her in this house for the time being, but if she does anything i don’t like, then she needs to leave,” shelby said.
“oh, i’ll make sure of it, master.” alucard promised.
after dinner, she contacted her bosses and let them know that she was out of commission for six to eight weeks because she broke her hand and wrist. she also wrote a loving apologetic post to her fans and said she would work hard in therapy to get back to writing. once she was done making her posts, she went upstairs to start looking through her closet. upon looking at her closet, she realized she didn’t have many button up shirts for a more professional appearance. she wasn’t a huge fan of ties due to not liking things wrapped around her neck. she laid out the jeans she had on one of the chairs in her room and then laid out the nice shirts she had. she wanted to make herself look more professional, especially if she was going to be meeting the queen or with iscariot. she needed to go to the shooting range as well and invest in some more guns. she just had the one.
“you should be resting, master.” alucard droned as he phased into the room.
“i need to go shopping for new clothes,” shelby said, putting her hand to her chin and scratching slightly. “i’d like to start dressing more professional,”
“do you care what other people think of you?” he asked.
“no, not really. but being that i’m now in charge of the hellsing organization, it would be wise of me to dress more appropriately,” she answered. “to show that i’m not a little girl that someone can bully around,”
“were you bullied?” he asked, curiosity in his voice.
“i was,” she nodded. “but i grew up into the young woman i am today. i’ve made a name for myself,”
“fascinating,” he whispered. “however, walter will have your head if he finds out you’re up,”
“pfft, yeah right. wait, what are you- alucard!”
shelby yelped in surprise as the tall vampire swiftly picked her up in his arms and carried her to the bed, where he plopped her onto it. “i wasn’t done!” she protested.
“you can finish tomorrow, master.” alucard spoke, lifting a knee onto the bed before throwing it onto the other side of her and lifting himself to rest his knees on either side of her body, causing shelby to pause at the position. she sat up more, a soft tinge of pink on her features. “your cheeks are coloring, master.” he crooned.
“your boots are on my bed,” shelby gritted out. “take them off,”
he grinned softly and kicked the heavy boots off of his long legs, despite them being part of him.
“you can sit beside me, but not over me,” she said.
“does it make you uncomfortable?” he pressed, although followed her command instead sat to the side of her on the bed.
“it’s not every day i have a man kneeling over me,” shelby replied. “or kneeling to me,”
“you’re a virgin, master.”
“yes, we both know that. virginity is a social construct to control women,” she said. “although who knows if i’ll ever lose it. i had my first kiss a long time ago, but it sucked. more or less, the guy shoved his tongue down my throat.”
“how pathetic,” alucard scoffed.
“yeah, it sucked,” she shrugged. “oh well,”
“i could show you just what a kiss is supposed to be like,”
shelby felt her cheeks grow warm and she turned her head to him quickly, seeing the smirk on his features. “wha-? when’s the last time you kissed someone?!”
“long, long time ago,” he chuckled.
shelby stiffened when a gloved hand reached up for her face and she instinctively went to pull away, but upon feeling the touch of a gloved hand on her cheek. it was softer than she expected and as she shifted her gaze back to alucard, she could see his eyes lower slightly it what looked like fondness.
“why do you flinch, master?” he asked. “do you fear me?”
“no,” she replied, shaking her head. “i’m unused to the touch of another. i haven’t had physical affection in a very, very long time. i think the last time i felt it was from my mother as a child, or a teenager.”
shelby knew she was touch-starved and she knew alucard was too. how did it come to this, that her affection would be for a vampire? it wasn’t like she loved him, she liked him for certain, and it was an odd feeling because she had only known him almost a week now. and despite that, he treated her as though she had been his master for a long time. she still didn’t think of him as a pet, or a servant.
her thoughts were paused as she felt a thumb stroke her cheek and she couldn’t help but tilt her face into the palm, eyelids lowered. her right hand reached up, placing it flat against his broad chest, feeling no heartbeat underneath, the coldness of his body. but instead of flinching away from it, she welcomed the temperature change. she could feel a rumble reverberate from within his chest, as if pleased with the contact. her hand shook slightly as it slid upwards, her hand making its way to the side of his neck, where her warm fingers touched the cold flesh. his skin twitched and she could almost hear what sounded like a shudder from him.
“you’re warm, master,” he murmured, red eyes glowing brightly as he neared closer to her face.
shelby noticed that his eyes seemed to convey his emotions. when they glowed brightly like this, his emotions seemed very strong. alucard wasn’t the heartless monster that everyone thought he was, what she thought at first, but she noticed that he only displayed those emotions towards her. she didn’t want him to feel like he had to be affectionate towards her.
“you know you don’t have to do anything you don’t want to, alucard.” she said softly.
“i grant your every wish, your every command, every desire,” his voice lowered.
“don’t do it based on what i want. you’re your own person and you’re not a slave,” she whispered.
“i live for you, master.”
her thoughts became scattered and unclear as she felt his lips press against the corner of her mouth, cold yet softer than any lips she had ever felt. her breath hitched slightly at the touch so tender from a dangerous creature, a vampire, yet she found herself closing her eyes and moving her head ever so slightly so she could mold their lips together in a proper kiss. a pleased rumble echoed from within alucard’s chest and she just barely felt his other hand rest on her thigh, fingers almost able to wrap around her entire thigh.
it was hard to describe how it felt. her first kiss had been nothing but tongue fucking, but it felt like she was having her first kiss all over again. in any other situation, shelby didn’t feel confident enough to kiss someone unless they initiated it first. she was guarded about her affection, but now, she felt at her most vulnerable, opening up her soul to the vampire before her. one who deemed her worthy of his respect, of being his master even though she wasn’t a biological hellsing.
she felt as though she could trust him with anything, her life included.
shelby pulled away slightly to take a few breaths, before she was going in for another kiss, just as soft but a bit deeper this time. she wasn’t experienced in kissing, though she knew alucard would be the one to guide her through it.
“master,” he rumbled.
“say my name,” shelby whispered, wanting to hear it from his lips. “i want to hear you say my name, please.”
he grinned softly against her lips. “shelby, my master,”
he pressed a bit more against her, parting his lips into the kiss and allowing his tongue to lick across her bottom lip. she felt her cheeks redden sightly at the sensation of his tongue, but she parted her lips and allowed him in. it was a brief moment of his tongue stroking over hers before he pulled off and moved his mouth down along her neck, lips pressing to the soft skin before he inhaled sharply and shuddered.
“you smell wonderful, master.” he hummed.
“no biting,” she said, but didn’t stop the smile from crossing her features.
alucard pressed his mouth just above her jugular, his tongue tracing the length of her neck and right along her pulse line. shelby tightened her grip on his neck, before she lost her sense of balance and yelped as she fell back, taking alucard with her. her head landed on the pillow, and she laughed softly, to which he returned it with a low chuckle.
alucard rested his head in the crook of her neck, being cautious not to press his weight on her arm. she stroked his hair, to which he purred deeply against her. “will you stay with me? just until i fall asleep?” she asked, turning her head so she could rest her cheek on the top of his head.
“of course, my master,” he cooed.
shelby allowed her eyes to close and she got comfortable. alucard’s presence calmed her and it was proven when she quickly got drowsy and fell asleep soon after, her hand still resting in his silky hair.

The weekend came and went fairly quickly, causing Shelby to realize that she was going to have to get back to work on her writing. However, by Sunday she had realized and felt that she was a bit under the weather, having woken up with sniffles and breathing issues. She took it easy on Sunday and went to bed early, only to wake up Monday morning with a nasty migraine that caused her to refuse to open her eyes.
“Sir?” she heard a Scottish voice ask from her doorway.
Shelby only groaned in response, keeping the blanket over her eyes.
“Are you still not feeling well, sir?”
“No,” she replied. “My head is killing me; my breathing is worse and everything aches.”
Shelby coughed harshly for a few seconds before she groaned softly again and sniffled.
“I’ll fetch Walter.”
Shelby mumbled to herself, dozing off for a few moments until she felt a hand on her forehead, and she opened her eyes, glancing up at Walter.
“You’re very warm, sir.” Walter spoke. “I’ll make a doctor’s appointment for you. It could be the flu, or another infection going around.”
“Just my luck,” Shelby muttered.
“Hang on,” he said, leaving the room for a few moments before coming back five minutes later. “They were able to get you in for 8:30. Do you have enough strength to get dressed? If not, I can con Anderson into helping you.”
“No, I got it.” Shelby replied.
Walter nodded and left the room to give her privacy. Despite the nasty migraine she had, she managed to power through it to slip on some leggings and a sweater. She slipped on some socks, almost falling over on her face. God, she felt awful. She normally didn’t get sick and when she did, it was usually a nasty infection. She didn’t have to wait long for Walter to come in, followed by Anderson.
“Are you ready to go?” Walter asked.
“Yeah, just need my shoes.” She replied, coughing afterwards.
Anderson lifted her into his arms, and she groaned softly at being moved, but didn’t ask to be put down. She couldn’t walk down the stairs since she was light-headed. Walter slipped her shoes on once they were downstairs and then they drove to the doctor’s clinic, where Walter informed the receptionist, they had arrived.
They only had to wait for about ten minutes before they were called back and Shelby’s weight was taken, weighing about 135 pounds. Once in the office, she relayed her symptoms to the nurse and then again to the doctor, who didn’t seem to be too convinced.
“It just seems like a common cold,” the doctor said.
“I know what a cold feels like, doctor.” Shelby replied, shivering slightly. “And this is not it.”
“Well, I would say just go home and get some rest-,”
“Doctor, if I may interrupt,” Walter said firmly. “You don’t seem to be taking Sir Hellsing’s health seriously. We do realize that her normal doctor had an emergency, but you still need to take her health seriously.”
“Are you by chance pregnant?” the doctor asked.
“I don’t have a fucking uterus!” Shelby shouted. “If you’d even take a look at my medical history, you can see that I had a hysterectomy at 16-years-old!”
“We would like another doctor,” Walter said firmly.
“I’m afraid that’s not possible-,”
“Now!” Both Walter and Anderson said at the same time.
The doctor jumped and nodded before leaving the room quickly. Shelby shuddered and Anderson shrugged off his coat before placing it around her shoulders, making sure she was covered. She thanked him and pulled it around herself tightly.
About a half-hour later, another male doctor came inside and took one look at Shelby before he called for the nurse and immediately ordered a series of tests, to take a few vials of blood and to check for diseases. The doctor apologized for the other doctor’s behavior and assured them that he would be dealt with his inappropriate behavior.
When Shelby’s tests came back, it was revealed that she had caught a nasty upper respiratory infection. “I’ve ordered antibiotics, a steroid and pain medicine to help with the migraines.” The doctor spoke, his voice professional but also concerning. “Take them with water only, no caffeine or alcohol. And get as much rest as you can the next few days. If your symptoms don’t lessen or get worse, don’t hesitate to go to the emergency room.”
“Thank you, doctor.” Walter said, taking the medicine order. “That other doctor needs to learn to take women’s health concerns seriously. He could have been sued for medical malpractice.”
“I will make sure he is disciplined. It’s not the first complaint we’ve gotten about him, but it will definitely be the last.” The doctor nodded. “Please, go home, take your medicine and get plenty of rest Miss Hellsing.”
“Thank you, doctor.” she said hoarsely.
After retrieving her medication from the pharmacy, Walter drove them back to the manor. Anderson took her upstairs to her bedroom and Walter came up soon to give her the medicine she needed to take. She managed to take them down with some water and immediately laid down, managing to get underneath her covers so she could sleep.
“Do you need anything else, sir?” Walter asked.
“Mm-nm,” Shelby replied, shaking her head slightly.
“Very well. One of us will check up on you in an hour to make sure you don’t need anything.” He said with a nod. “Please holler if you need anything, sir.”
“Mph.” was all she said before she fell asleep shortly.
~ ~
Shelby felt herself stirring when she felt the sensation of cool digits smoothing away locks of her hair away from her forehead. She opened her eyes a bit, blinking a few times so she could focus on the youthful features of the vampire before her.
“Good afternoon, master.” he cooed.
“What time is it?” she asked softly.
“Around 4 pm. You slept for quite some time,” Alucard replied.
She really did. She had to pee like crazy though.
Shelby managed to get up long enough to relieve herself before she huddled under the covers once more. Alucard felt her forehead, feeling that she was still warm.
“That feels nice,” she mumbled.
“Are you up for eating, master?” he asked.
“No, because Ill throw it up.” Shelby answered, knowing that if she ate anything, she would throw it right back up.
“What would you like?”
“Get under the covers with me and let me cuddle you because you’re cooler.”
Alucard grinned before he snuck underneath the covers, getting comfortable on his side before watching as Shelby scooted closer to him, wrapping his lanky frame around her much warmer body.
“Feels nice,” she murmured.
“Go back to sleep, master.” he encouraged.
~ ~
When Shelby woke up again, it was around ten pm and she was absolutely shivering. She was shaking, even underneath three large comforters. Walter had taken her temperature and it revealed that her fever had gone up to 103.
“No hospital,” Shelby muttered.
“But sir – ,”
“No hospital.” Shelby said again, coughing. “I….I just need to sleep.”
Walter sighed. “Alright, but at least take your medicine. You need it.”
Shelby groaned softly, but complied. She took her medicine and then huddled back underneath the covers. Walter left to give her time to sleep, but Alucard was walking in a few minutes later with Anderson in tow.
“m’ fine,” Shelby mumbled.
“Master, you’re literally shaking despite being under three comforters.” Alucard pointed out.
“What’s your point?” she asked tiredly.
“Anderson, why don’t you share your body heat with her?” Alucard suggested, turning to look at the priest.
“I’m not going to get in the bed with Sir Hellsing,” Anderson said with a light scoff.
“Come on, priest. Your body is warmer than mine and she’s clearly shaking,” Alucard said. “It’s not sexual in any way.”
“I don’t care what you do.” Shelby said, shivering.
Anderson sighed, before taking off his shoes and coat, setting them aside near the chair by the window, opening up his clergy jacket and setting that aside as well. Shelby moved aside enough for the priest to slip into bed, which was enough for him with him sitting propped up. After a moment, Shelby maneuvered herself to rest between his thighs, leaning up against the large man’s chest. He was indeed a lot warmer than she thought, even though she had felt his body heat before, but given how much she was shivering, his body heat felt incredibly nice.
Anderson reached over and pulled the covers across her shaking frame, tucking them around her body. Her cheek was resting on his chest and he could feel the warmth of her fever.
“Is that any better, master?” Alucard asked.
“Mmph, yeah…” she mumbled, closing her eyes.
~ ~
It took about six hours for Shelby’s fever to break. Around 4 am, Anderson shifted slightly due to his legs falling asleep. Alucard raised his head, regarding the priest with those red irises of his.
“Why are you looking at me like that, vampire?” he questioned.
“Don’t play stupid with me, priest.” Alucard snarked. “If you really didn’t like our master, you wouldn’t have agreed to do this for her.”
“You’re so very infuriating, beast.” The priest snapped quietly.
“That’s not what you said last week when I sucked you off.”
Anderson glared at him, before scoffing slightly and turning his gaze away. Shelby shifted lightly on his torso, her back nearly falling off of him. He placed a hand on her back and gently pushed her back onto him, to which she mumbled underneath her breath and pulled the covers tighter around her before going still once more, breathing softly.
“Don’t bring that up,” he muttered after a moment.
“You liked it, Anderson.” Alucard cooed, sliding up beside the priest without disturbing Shelby.
Anderson narrowed his eyes at the vampire who was sliding up alongside him, before he leaned up and was grinning at him. He chuckled, bringing a gloved hand up to grasp the side of Anderson’s neck. “You like our master, priest and don’t deny it.”
“It’s not my place to like my boss, Alucard. I swore my loyalty to her.”
“That you did,” Alucard hummed. “A bold move from a Catholic priest.”
Anderson didn’t flinch as the vampire leaned up more, cold breath fanning across his lips. He instinctively closed his eyes as Alucard leaned up further, pressing his lips to the corner of the priest’s mouth, feeling the scrap of his facial hair against smoother flesh.
“Anderson,” Alucard purred against him.
“Not now, vampire.” he replied quietly after a moment. “Not…here,”
Alucard chuckled, his long tongue flicking against the priest’s chin for a moment before he pulled away.
“Soon, my beloved nemesis.” He cooed.
~
Shelby’s eyes scrunched a bit as she woke from what felt like a very deep sleep. She stirred, feeling hard but soft muscle underneath her. She shifted slightly before opening her eyes, causing said muscle to shift underneath her.
“Master?” she heard Alucard call out.
“Yeah,” she mumbled, blinking a few times before turning her gaze to the vampire before her.
“Good morning,” he grinned lightly. “How are you feeling?”
“Better,” she replied.
She still felt extremely tired and sore and achy, but at least she wasn’t shaking anymore, and she could tell that her fever had broken. All she wanted was a shower and to go back to sleep for a few more hours. She sat up slowly, realizing she had been lying against Anderson.
“Better, sir?” he asked.
“Yeah, my fever broke.” She nodded with a tired expression, moving her hand up to smooth her locks out of her face. “I need a shower and food. I actually think I can eat.”
“I’ll go down and let Walter know you’re awake,” Anderson said, swinging his leg over her so he didn’t hit her and got up, stretching his sore limbs.
Shelby couldn’t help but let her eyes wander across the expanse of the priest’s back, the powerful muscles that rippled whenever he moved or stretched them. When Anderson started to turn, she quickly tore her gaze away and cleared her throat, noticing the way that Alucard was looking at her with a shit-eating grin and she gave him a warning glare to not say anything.
“Thank you, Anderson.” Shelby said before he left.
“Oh, Master.” Alucard purred.
“Shut it,” she warned.

shelby woke the next morning dreading the day already. she took the few hours she had to go shopping for new clothes, getting walter’s opinion on what she picked out. he even picked out a few different colors that she wouldn’t see herself wearing in button ups, such as purple or even a light blue. shepherd had informed her that they would be arriving in the early afternoon, which gave shelby more than enough time to prepare.
“what do you think we should do for dinner tonight, sir?” walter asked, looking at the meat selection of the supermarket. “we already have two roasts going for our security team, but i think something a bit more fancy would do well for your family.”
“i’d say a big pot of chili,” shelby replied. “it’s easy and it’s still early,”
“excellent choice, sir,”
when they got home, walter and seras carried everything inside and walter put things away before starting the chili. shelby went upstairs to put her things on her bed and she looked through the clothes until she picked out a pair of black jeans that would hug her legs, with a purple button-up with the sleeves rolled up to her elbows. like usual, she wore her three-piece necklace that her brother had gotten for her, her multiple bracelets (which she couldn’t have any on her left wrist) and she had started carrying her gun in a holster at her right hip.
right now, she was having trouble with her tie.
it was black and complimented the rest of her colors. but having a broken wrist and hand meant it was more difficult to tie it.
“damnit,” she sighed, letting it rest around her neck.
she felt the presence in her room before white gloved hands came to rest on her shoulders. “need help, master?” alucard cooed as the rest of his form became clear, standing behind her with his large hands on her shoulders.
“yes, please. it’s hard to tie this with one hand,” she nodded.
alucard’s hands moved down to the tie and quite expertly, began to tie it properly. she noticed for the first time, that alucard had a reflection. perhaps because he was the very first vampire to ever be born. she watched with a soft smile as he looped the tie through and around, before shifting it into a perfect tie, and tightened it slightly around her neck, though not tight enough to be uncomfortable.
“you’re supposed to be sleeping,” shelby said, turning around to face him.
“i felt your need for help, master.” he chuckled. “we are entuned with each other,”
“you need your sleep, still.” she said. “go to bed,”
he grinned softly and leaned down, having to hunch down since he was over a head taller than her and wrapped his fingers around her tie, pulling her up slightly so he could press their lips together in a firm kiss. shelby felt her cheeks redden slightly, the press of his lips against hers, tongue licking across her upper lip.
“don’t act so spoiled,” shelby said against his lips, causing the vampire’s grin to widen. “if you’re good, you’ll get a reward.”
he parted from her a few inches, eyes glowing brightly. “what kind of reward, master?”
“you’ll have to wait and see. now go to bed. i’ll see you this evening,” shelby said.
alucard chuckled softly before he vanished through the wall, heading for the basement. shelby pursed her lips, still feeling them tingle softly. she wasn’t sure what it was supposed to be.
she had shit to do.
she went downstairs about a half hour later after dealing with her hair, using hair putty to slick it back with strands hanging out and about and across her forehead, although some of her longer bangs decided to be stubborn and slid back into their place in front of her face. she thought it looked sort of nice, so she finished up and went downstairs.
“you look exquisite, sir.” walter smiled once she was in the kitchen. “suits you very well,”
“you’re the one with excellent taste, walter.” shelby chuckled. “thank you for helping me out,”
“it’s my pleasure, sir.”
“walter…can i ask you a question?”
“of course, sir.”
“was alucard ever….intimate with anyone during his time at hellsing?” shelby asked, carefully wording the question.
“what an intriguing question,” walter hummed, putting a hand to his chin. “well, during my previous self’s life, he was not intimate with anyone, not even his master at the time. although when i came back into hellsing, there were rumors going around that he and seras had gotten intimate, but both of them declared it just a “useless rumor”. alucard sees seras as more of a daughter than anything else. and he was never intimate with integra, so my answer would probably be no. although a long time ago, he did have someone called mina harker, but that’s a very complicated story.”
“right,” shelby said softly.
“did something happen between you and alucard, sir?”
shelby was quiet for a moment before she spoke. “we kissed,”
“and who initiated it?”
“i think both of us did,” she said. “i don’t know if….if it’s love or just some deep emotional connection. i don’t see alucard as a slave or a servant, but a person of his own thoughts and feelings. i know he’s not human, i know he’s a monster and he loves killing, but….i just don’t know. there’s something there.”
“interesting,” walter mused.
“do you think it’s wrong?” she asked.
“oh no, not at all. i’ve seen plenty of humans and vampires fall in love,” he answered. “but with your relationship and connection to alucard, it’s deeper than something simple of like a normal relationship. alucard recognizes you as his master, the one person he can trust to be vulnerable with, to be able to confide in both you and himself. it would make sense that he would feel something towards you. whether or not its love, remains to be seen.”
“so perhaps i should just take it slow and just see where it leads us?”
“i believe so, yes.” walter nodded. “however, given the time, when and if you are sexually intimate with him, you’ll have to remember that you can never be bitten, by him nor by enemy. virgins of the opposite sex who are bitten will become a vampire, but a non-virgin will become a ghoul.”
“….i hate to ask this, but is that only for….penetrative sex?” shelby asked carefully, her cheeks tinged pink.
“well, by definition, yes.” he nodded. “losing one’s virginity is, historically, by penetrative sex. is this making you uncomfortable, sir?”
“no,” she shook her head. “it’s just kind of weird. i’m almost 30-years-old and i’ve never gotten around to losing my virginity. i never so much as had a decent kiss until alucard.”
“integra never lost her virginity and she was proud of it,” walter said. “it’s not a bad thing to be a virgin.”
“i know,” shelby said. “i…..another thing i fear is that alucard is doing things like this based off of what i want,”
“well, he will follow any order you give him.”
“that’s the point. i don’t want him to feel that he has to do anything, and i mean anything, just because of what i want.” shelby said.
“you’re still feeling conflicted about it.” he stated. “you could always implement a safe code with him, though i know for a fact he would never say it.”
“i think…..i’ll just go with the flow for now and try not to stress about it so much,” shelby sighed. “thanks for being honest, walter.”
“you’re welcome, sir.”
shelby went to go walk away, but stopped in her footsteps, thinking deeply. she really wanted to hug walter…but would he find it awkward and push her away?
well, fuck.
shelby made her way around the table towards walter, who raised an eyebrow at her. she took a deep breath and moved forwards, her arm coming up to wrap around his shoulder in a halfway hug since her other arm was in a sling.
“are you alright, sir?” he asked, genuinely concerned.
“y-yeah, just….i wanted to give you a hug. i can’t thank you enough for everything you’ve done for me,” she replied, a bit shaky.
“oh,” walter chuckled softly and wrapped his arms around her middle and upper back, palms on her back. “it’s my job, sir. don’t ever be afraid to come to me for something.”
“yeah,” she said, strained.
“there there,” he shushed softly. “you haven’t gotten much affection in your life, have you?”
“no,” she replied, honest.
he squeezed her gently, before releasing her. shelby stepped back and took a deep breath, before smiling softly. “thank you, walter.”
“you’re welcome, sir.” he smiled back.
~ ~
as 3 o’clock came circling around, shelby would be seeing her family soon. walter had gone to pick them up with a few security personnel for extra protection, though she knew walter could defend himself easily. a bit after walter left, the doorbell rang and shelby answer, surprised to see captain o’riley and his crew standing there, appearing quite rugged.
“captain o’riley.” she blinked.
“miss o’viere-hellsing,” captain o’riley said tiredly. “i apologize that this is such short notice, but we’ve lost our hotel room and can’t find a place to stay. would it be alright if we stayed for a few days until we figure out where to go?”
“oh, of course.” she nodded politely.
shelby called over one of the security guards. “can you take these men to one of the empty rooms on the second floor? i believe it should be ready for them.”
“yes, ma’am.” the guard answered.
“we’re just going to sleep for now, perhaps throughout the whole night.” o’riley said. “thank you so much, miss o’viere-hellsing.”
“no problem. please, make yourselves at home and get some rest.” shelby said.
the guard led them upstairs to the second floor and she shut the door with a heavy sigh. another thing she had to deal with, but she didn’t have the heart to leave them in the cold. she wasn’t that kind of person.
after another half-hour of anxiously waiting, she heard the front door open and walter poked his head inside. “are you ready, sir? they’re here.” he asked.
shelby took a deep breath, standing towards the door and leaning her weight on her cane. walter walked inside, holding the door open as a group of people walked inside out of the cold. her parents came in first, a married couple in their early 50’s. her father, alan, was a man of 52-years-old and had graying hair that was bald at the top, but still thick and hearty at the back, with dark eyes. as usual, he wore a hat of one of his favorite nascar teams. her mother, suzanna, was beautiful as always, with thick, but short light hair that she was letting gray and deep blue eyes. her two brothers, seth and shepherd had similar features, but were not identical. seth had shorter hair, with most of it slicked back except for a few longer strands of his hair and the same hazel eyes as shelby. seth was also the tallest of the triplets, while shepherd was second tallest and then shelby was the shortest. shepherd had longer hair that he kept back in a neat ponytail with bangs falling over his right eye. and then there was her sister, mary-anne. mary-anne looked closest to her mother, with thick brown hair and deep blue eyes, with silver glasses resting on her nose. she was taller than shepherd, but shorter than seth.
shelby was quiet as they came inside and walter offered to take their coats, hats and scarves for them to put away, as well to have them leave their boots on the mat by the door.
the first person shelby made eye contact with was her mother, who’s eyes softened as she gazed at the state of her daughter’s physical appearance. “oh my sweet girl…” she said softly, approaching and reaching out her hands.
shelby instinctively moved her head back slightly and her mother pulled away, as if burned, but after a moment, she reached forward again and gently cupped shelby’s cheeks, feeling the roughness of the healing scrapes and bruises.
“do they hurt?” suzanna asked softly.
“i’ve got good pain meds,” shelby replied.
suzanna gently pulled shelby into a tender hug, which caused the younger of the two to tense up. shelby was unused to her mother giving her affection. her father came forward next, gently touching shelby’s head before wrapping his strong arms around both of them. shelby had always been closer with her father due to similar interests. when shelby was released from her parents’ hold, she hugged her two brothers next, always happy to see them. they squeezed her, careful of her arm.
when it came to her sister next, shelby hesitated, unsure. the last contact she had with her sister, it didn’t go well. mary-anne looked like she wanted to hug shelby, but shelby took a few steps back before she could.
“let’s go into the living room,” shelby said, turning around.
she led them into the living room and walter asked if anyone wanted anything to drink. her parents politely declined, as they already had coffee and her brothers had their own drinks as well. mary-anne did politely ask for a coffee and took a choice of a dark roast. walter nodded and went into the kitchen to make two cups of coffee, of which he already knew what shelby drinked.
“how are you, sweetie?” alan asked.
“i’m managing,” shelby replied. “how is it back home?”
“it’s alright. everyone misses you,” he replied.
“if i get the time, i’ll plan a trip to see everyone.” shelby said.
walter came out with two mugs of coffee, handing shelby and mary-anne their respective cups. he made sure everyone was alright with chili tonight and to let him know if they needed anything while he went to go finish up dinner.
“this place is massive,” suzanna said. “how does it stay so clean?”
“everyone cleans their own spaces, but walter usually does the cleaning and i help him.” shelby answered. “although he refuses to let me help right now because of my injuries.”
“mr. dornez seems very kind,” alan said.
“he is. he’s been such a help since i first moved in. i couldn’t have asked for anyone better. he managed the entire estate with the security team before i even thought of moving in.” shelby said with a soft smile.
“security team?” shepherd questioned.
“yes. the hellsing family was very wealthy and the estate itself is worth a fortune. everything was given to me once i moved in. it’s put away in a very secure place.”
“the security makes sense,” suzanna nodded. “we found out you changed your last name, honey.”
“i didn’t change it. i hyphened it and before you ask, it’s because i wanted to.” shelby answered.
“what’s special about the hellsing name, honey?” alan asked, genuinely curious.
before shelby could reply, she felt alucard’s presence and she glanced at the wall behind the couch opposite of her, seeing a black shadow with multiple red eyes maneuvering across the wall. her eyes narrowed slightly, before she gave a sigh and her gaze relaxed.
“i might as well show you, because he’s going to do it anyway.” shelby said, getting up with a soft grunt. she stood to the side of the couches and locked eyes with the black mass on the wall. “and before you guys freak out, please let me explain everything.”
alan and suzanna exchanged looks with their children, confused but nodded.
shelby took a deep breath before she spoke. “alucard, come.”
she heard a chuckle echo throughout her mind and she watched as the black mass maneuvered towards her, onto the floor and then a few feet in front of her. she could see the confused expression on her parents’ face, until a gloved hand came rising out of the shadow and grew into an arm, then their faces turned to ones of nervousness. alucard shifted himself into his normal form, a grin etched across his youthful features as he finally revealed himself.
“master,” he purred.
“be good,” she said softly. “please,”
alucard nudged the top of her head with his nose before turning his gaze to the family before him. he grinned as they recoiled, chuckling softly.
“so this is your family, master?” he asked, turning towards them slightly.
“s-shelby, sweetie…” suzanna trembled. “who….who is that?”
~
it took about an hour to explain everything to her family, about the hellsing organization, about alucard and seras and the fact that shelby had her own army of soldiers and two vampires. meanwhile, she had been stroking her fingers through alucard’s hair. he had decided to be touchy-feely, resting his chin across her knee and a grin on his features as she caressed her fingers across his scalp. if he was in his hound form, she swore his leg would be thumping on the floor.
“so this…..vampire is your pet?” suzanna asked carefully, not wanting to upset anyone.
“i don’t see him as that.” shelby replied. “i see him for who he is, a dangerous vampire who could very easily kill me with a finger, but he doesn’t because i’ve earned his respect and to be in place as his master.”
“so he’ll do anything you tell him to do?” seth asked, curious.
“yes and before you ask, yes, he will kill for me too. usually other vampires who are a threat to humanity,” shelby replied.
“i….” alan stammered, before standing up. “this isn’t right. vampires don’t exist. this man, this creature can’t be a vampire. i can’t fathom the thought of my oldest daughter being in danger because of this creature.”
“well, it’s not your choice, now is it?” shelby said, pausing in the movements of her hand. “i knew fully well what i was getting into. i’m not a little girl anymore, dad.”
“i know…i know, but…” alan sighed heavily and sat back down.
“if i may interjet,” walter said as he came into the room. “alucard has been her protector ever since miss o’viere-hellsing arrived at the manor. alucard will do everything in his power, and more, to protect her. the same with miss victoria.”
“and you can’t tell anyone about this.” shelby said, feeling alucard nudge at her hand to have her continue on his head. “vampires are still secretive in the world and i’m not sure how many are in the usa. the last thing i want is for my family to get hurt.”
suzanna glanced at the vampire whose head was on shelby’s knee. while he did look very dangerous, he also looked very soft. she could tell, with his gaze towards shelby, that he was utterly devoted to her. whether that meant or not he was devoted to her in more ways than one, but it didn’t matter.
“you’ll be here the entire week,” shelby said. “i’ll make sure you guys have fun.”
“now, who’s hungry?” walter asked.

by friday, shelby was adjusting to life living in the hellsing estate. she got to know some of her security, seras and learned even more about alucard. she was standing at the door waiting for walter when he came over, holding a sealed letter in his hand.
“what’s that?”
“a letter, addressed to you,” he replied.
shelby took the letter from him and opened it up, beginning to read aloud. “dear miss shelby o’viere-hellsing, it has come to our attention that you have settled into the hellsing estate. we would like to meet with you in order to introduce ourselves to you. we are your allies. please meet us at this address for lunch at 2 pm on january 5th, 2069. we look forward to meeting you. signed…..iscariot,”
walter’s eyes widened softly before he sighed. “i knew this was going to happen.”
“well, it’s a good thing you informed me about them,” shelby said, folding up the letter neatly and slipping it into her bag. “let’s go. doctor, then we’ll go to the restaurant,”
the appointment took longer than expected due to her being a new patient at the hospital, but all of her blood work looked good. they had received her medical records from her previous doctor. as one pm rolled around, they drove through london to arrive at the restaurant about fifteen minutes till two.
“are you alright, miss?” walter asked.
“just nervous,” shelby replied.
“i know for a fact that alucard is nearby, waiting for the perfect time to reveal himself. iscariot doesn’t know he’s back,”
“even after thirty some years?”
“there wasn’t anything to worry about when he came back, so we saw no need to tell them,” walter said.
shelby wasn’t looking forward to this.
as one o’clock came around, they walked into the restaurant and let the hostess know that they were meeting someone for lunch here. the hostess grabbed a couple of menus and led them to a private area of the restaurant, where shelby saw a man and a woman sitting at a table. one man looked middle-aged, with a scar on his face and the other looked younger, with scars on her face that looked as though she had serious injury. the oldest of the two stood up with a smile when he saw her and walter. “miss shelby o’viere-hellsing?” he asked.
“yes, although you didn’t bother to tell me your name,” she said, approaching the table.
“my apologies, my name is makube and i am the bishop for the iscariot organization,” the man introduced himself. “this is my collegue, heinkel wolfe. we’ve been so excited to meet you,”
“perhaps you, makube,” heinkel snorted.
walter took a seat next to shelby, remaining on guard.
“now then, why don’t we order lunch first?” makube suggested.
after they ordered food, shelby noticed that heinkel was staring at her intensely. and after a while, she grew irritated. “why do you keep staring at me?” she asked.
“i’m trying to decide the best way to kill you,”
shelby was surprised by heinkel’s answer and she was immediately on her guard. “i haven’t done anything to you. i don’t want enemies. i just came to london to have a fresh start of my life and not be bothered with stressful situations. it seems i can’t even get away from those.”
“now now-,” makube began.
“did you just threaten my master’s life?”
makube and heinkel froze in their seats as alucard’s voice rang through the room. shelby watched, with hidden satisfaction, as alucard phased through the wall behind shelby’s seat and glared down at heinkel with disgust.
“how dare you threaten her life? any threat to her, is a threat to me.” he snapped, clearly pissed off.
shelby noticed that alucard’s mere presence seemed to unnerve both heinkel and makube, as they both went quiet. alucard leaned over, his tall frame coming up beside shelby. “shall i kill them, master? make them eat their words? we could end the entire organization and be done with them, just give me your orders.”
“so alucard has returned,” makube cleared his throat.
“yes, and he’s not very happy that you threatened our master,” walter said.
“there will be no killing,” shelby said, with a strained tone. “i don’t want any bloodshed. i’m just trying to get through my mess of a life,”
heinkel huffed, going quiet. alucard made a noise underneath his breath and vanished into the wall.
“we just wanted to introduce ourselves to you, that is all,” makube said, honesty in his tone.
somehow, shelby didn’t believe him.
~ ~
when they got back to the manor, seras greeted shelby with a smile, but immediately noticed her master looked off. “oh, master, are you alright?” she asked.
“i just don’t feel good,” shelby replied.
“come on, let’s get you into the living room,” walter said.
walter guided her into the living room, where she sat down at her favorite corner of the large couch. walter checked her pulse and got her a cold glass of water.
“i assume the meeting didn’t go well?” seras asked.
“it could have been worse,” walter replied.
“heinkel should be glad to have her life,” alucard huffed.
“i don’t want anything to happen,” shelby said. “walter, could you help me to my room? i need to lay down for a while,”
“of course, miss,” he nodded.
~ ~
shelby jerked as she was woken from her nap, a hand on her shoulder. she sat up quickly, seeing walter above her. “walter, what is it?”
“there’s been a vampire attack at a small village east of here,”
well, shit.
~ ~
they arrived on the scene, just a couple of miles outside of the village, where the attacks had happened. shelby and walter walked into the tent that held local police and what looked like a few supernatural hunters, which she did recognize due to her research.
“and who are you?” one of the hunters asked, looking shelby up and down, green eyes narrowed in distrust.
“my name is walter c. dornez and this is miss shelby elizabeth o’viere-hellsing,” walter introduced them.
“a hellsing?” another hunter asked. “i thought integra didn’t have a daughter?”
“she doesn’t. miss o’viere-hellsing is the newest owner of the hellsing estate, and the organization,” walter replied. “you will show her respect,”
“or what?”
“or else i’ll tear you limb from useless limb and let the dogs eat what’s left of you,” alucard’s voice was heard just as he walked into the tent, red eyes glowing from behind his glasses.
“do you have to threaten every person who throws useless slander towards me?” shelby asked, turning her gaze to the vampire. “they’re just words. they’re harmless,”
“until they’re not,” alucard added. “now, my master, what are my orders?”
shelby glanced over to walter, who gave a single nod. shelby turned her attention back to alucard and cleared her throat. “your orders are simple, alucard. find the vampire and destroy them, along with whatever ghouls they have created.”
alucard grinned widely, chuckling. “finally, you have given me my orders. as you command, my master.”
and he was gone, vanishing into thin air.
walter pulled out a chair and shelby sat down in it, resting her leg. she rubbed at her temple, already gaining a headache from the stress of tonight. she never, ever expected to command a vampire to kill another vampire.
“who the hell was that?” the hunter with green eyes asked.
“that was our finest weapon,” walter answered, raising a hand in the air slightly, palm up. “alucard is our solution to these types of attacks. he’s the best of the best,”
“so what is he?” the green-eyed hunter asked.
“alucard is a vampire,” shelby replied before walter could. “although he’s been specifically designed to kill other vampires. he’s a monster that kills other monsters,”
the hunters exchanged looks with each other before the green-eyed one sighed, turning to shelby. she took note of his features now. older, salt and pepper hair with a beard to match, and those stunning green eyes. “my apologies, miss. you see, we’ve been tracking this vampire and his group for a month now and he has slaughtered civilians all the way from germany.”
“germany?” she asked, turning her head slightly towards walter. “why weren’t we aware of these attacks?”
“i’m afraid i don’t have an answer for you, ma’am.” walter replied, shaking his head. “this is the first time i’ve heard about this,”
“i see,” she said softly.
“my apologies miss,” the green-eyed man spoke. “My name is shawn o’riley, i’m the captain of delta-force 20. we’re an independent vampire hunting group who specialize in smaller attacks. we’ve been operating for ten years now,”
“despite the circumstances, it’s a pleasure to meet you, captain,” shelby said. “alucard will take care of the vampire,”
as she finished her words, she heard gunshots in the distance, causing walter to lift his head slightly. “ah, sounds like he’s dispatching them now,” he said with a chuckle.
shelby felt a chill go up her spine without warning and her brain registered that danger was near. she stood up quickly, nearly knocking her chair to the floor. “we have to get out,”
“ma’am, what’s-?”
“we have to get out now!”
almost on cue, screams erupted outside the tent and shawn yelled at his team to head outside to take care of it. “stay here, ma’am!” walter told shelby, rushing outside to see what was going on.
moments later, a slumbering figure lurched into the tent, groaning gutterally. shelby whipped out her gun and pulled the trigger, shooting the ghoul in the head. despite walter’s orders, she went outside and saw ghouls that had begun coming out of the forest around them. shit. shelby shot a couple of more ghouls down before she was suddenly hit in the side roughly and fell to the ground with a hard thud.
“damnit,” she hissed, scraping her palms on the rocks. as she looked above her, she saw a female vampire grinning down at her, red eyes glowing brightly with hunger.
“you smell delicious,” she purred.
shelby yanked her gun from the ground and fired off the last rounds in the champer, hitting the vampire in the chest and shoulder. as the vampire was distracted with healing herself, shelby quickly got up and grabbed her cane, before she raised a leg and brought it down, snapping her cane in half. she could always get a new cane. she rushed towards the vampire, aiming to stake her through the heart, but the vampire healed quickly and moved slightly off to the side, her right hand grabbing onto shelby’s left wrist tightly. she could feel the bones protesting and creaking and as the vampire tightened her grip to impossible levels, shelby felt bones in her wrist and in her entire hand break. a scream of absolute agony escaped from her throat.
“that’s it, scream!” the female vampire laughed.
shelby reacted quickly. she brought her other hand up, fingers curled into a tight fist and slammed her fist into the vampire’s face, causing her eyes to widen in surprise as the punch sent her careening to the ground. shelby was surprised herself, and she felt a deadly headache coming down on her. the feeling of something dripping down her nose and she new her nose was bleeding.
what the fuck was that?
“ma’am!” she heard walter shout out.
“you fucking…..bitch,” the female vampire gritted out, glaring at shelby with murderous intent. “you hit me….i think instead of turning you, i’m going to eat you alive!”
the vampire lunged, jaw unhinged.
master!
two things happened at once. first, shelby felt an arm wrapping around her middle and literally pulling her out of the vampire’s path, to which she was pulled against a cold body. the second, was that the female vampire was no longer lunging, but instead, was impaled on a tree branch, blood dripping down the smaller branches. she was choking on her own blood.
shelby realized that she was pressed up against alucard, who’s hold on her was protective. she had easily recognized the red tie around his neck. alucard’s other arm was outstretched, holding a very large gun. without a word, he pulled the trigger and the bullet fired, hitting the female vampire straight in the heart. she didn’t make a noise as she exploded, blood cascading all over the ground.
and then it began to settle down. a few police officers had been killed in the line of duty, and had already been dispatched before they could turn into ghouls.
“are you alright, master?” alucard questioned as he put away his weapon.
“i-i think so,” she nodded, sniffing softly.
walter came up to them, tenderly taking shelby’s left wrist in his hold. “oh dear. well, it’s broken for sure. let’s get you to the hospital ma’am,”
“okay,” she nodded and turned her gaze back to alucard. “alucard, make sure there’s no ghouls or vampires left behind.”
“as you command, my master,”
~ ~
three hours later, shelby was sitting in a hospital bed with monitors hooked up to her and her wrist and hand bandaged up and in a temporary brace. the doctors had been concerned about her heart, but after a few ekgs, they determined that her heart was fine. walter stayed with her the entire time, taking in key information and writing down notes.
“surgery for your hand and wrist is tomorrow morning,” walter told her once the doctor left and he took a seat next to the bed. “they informed me that despite it’s a traumatic break, the surgery may not fix the damage completely. it would be in the same position as your leg,”
“i figured,” shelby sighed softly. “should’ve known the moment it was broken,”
“my apologies, that i couldn’t prevent this from happening, ma’am,” he said, solemnly.
“it’s not your fault, walter. how were we supposed to know there was two vampires?” she said. “but i’m glad alucard arrived in time. the strangest thing is that, just as the vampire lunged, i heard ‘master’ in my head,”
“interesting,” walter mused, putting a hand to his chin. “it sounds like you two might have formed a telepathic link. it could be because you freely gave your blood to him. usually vampires form a link with their fledglings, not with humans. and the fact that you punched a vampire in the face without breaking that hand….it could be possibly that you have some mental capabilities that we’re not aware of,”
“all i’ve known is my mediumship abilities,” she said, shaking her head. “this is crazy, this is fucking crazy,”
“and you’re handling it very well, ma’am,” walter smiled softly, glancing at the time. “it looks like i’ve got to go back to the manor. two of your security personal will be outside your room at all times. i’ll be back in the morning before your surgery,”
“thank you, walter, for everything. you’ve been so patient with me about this whole situation,” shelby said.
the older man smiled softly and gently placed a hand on her shoulder, giving a soft squeeze. “get some rest, ma’am. i’ll see you in the morning,”
~ ~
as one am neared, shelby was finding it hard to doze off despite how exhausted she was. the day had been incredibly stressful and not only that, but the fact that she could have died. she could have met a very gruesome death if it wasn’t for alucard.
god, she didn’t know what to think.
it was strange, weird and downright frightening to think she had a monster at her disposal, that she could give him an order, anything and he would complete it without hesitation. he would hunt for her, kill for her. and shelby wasn’t sure what to think about all of it. she didn’t think of alucard as her pet. he was a vampire, yes, but he was still his own person, with his own thoughts and feelings. he was bound to the hellsing family and now he was bound to her, regardless that she wasn’t a biological hellsing. she didn’t believe herself to be worthy of his respect. he was a powerful, dangerous creature and he worshipped the ground she walked on.
“master,”
she sat up slowly so she wouldn’t disturb the monitors and turned her attention to the wall on the left of the bed, as alucard phased through the wall and into her hospital room.
“alucard, what’s to report?” she asked.
“all ghouls and vampires have been taken care of,” he replied. “the scene of the second vampire attack has also been taken care of and cleaned up.”
“was it a random attack?”
“yes, there are no signs of this being orchestrated.” alucard answered, approaching her bed and pushing the chair closer to the bed, before taking a seat in it. “what did the human doctors say?”
“i’m having surgery tomorrow morning to repair the damage,” she replied. “although they said that due to the traumatic break, my wrist and hand risk of not healing completely. it’ll be just like my leg,”
his blood red eyes lowered slightly, as if displeased by that information. “human doctors are useless,” he grumbled.
“they do what they can,” shelby sighed softly. “they can’t fix everything. you did good today, alucard.”
alucard grinned softly, eyes glowing. “did i? am i deserving of a reward?”
“i think so,” she nodded and raised her hand up to her mouth, biting down hard enough on her index finger to draw blood. she didn’t feel much of the pain due to being on some excellent pain medication, so it wasn’t difficult to get blood drawn.
the vampire’s eyes glowed even brighter as shelby slowly held the finger above his face. “open and take your reward,” she commanded softly.
she lowered the digit to the vampire’s waiting mouth and he parted his lips. she placed her finger on his tongue and watched as his eyes closed, tongue coiling around her finger to lap up the blood. the expression on his youthful features was one of satisfaction and dare be said, pleasure. she heard and felt a soft noise reverberate through his chest and she could have sworn it was a moan.
for a reason she couldn’t fathom of thinking of, the noise sent a shudder up her spine.
after a moment, shelby removed her finger from his mouth and grabbed a tissue so she could put pressure on it. “good boy,” she said without thinking.
alucard smiled, the gaze of his blood red eyes turning to fondness. shelby reached forward with the same hand, stroking her fingers through his soft, dark hair, almost as if he was a pet of sorts. a rumble echoed through him and he lowered his head onto her lap, an arm resting on the bed just above her thighs. he hummed, content.
shelby somehow knew the next days were going to be easier.

rating: e
shelby woke the next morning around 10 am, which was a bit later than what she was used to, but she was still adjusting to her new surroundings and the new information she was given last night. the fact that she now had two vampires under her rule, even though she didn’t want them to see her as a master. she wasn’t that type of person.
she took a scalding hot shower, dressing in comfortable leggings and a long sleeve button up shirt that complimented her figure nicely. she didn’t have to go out today, but later this week for her doctor’s appointment and possibly to stop at the store.
before she dressed, she examined her leg and winced softly as she moved it. years of crippling pain left her with a hatred in her heart towards the person who caused it. and despite said person going through therapy and alcohol therapy, it still didn’t matter because shelby dealt with the pain of her damaged leg every day, since the age of 16. she couldn’t forgive them, no matter how many times they asked and begged.
it was the main reason why she moved to london in the first place. after years of harassment, an order of protection could only be useful if said person didn’t harass her all the time. at least, with her being across the world, she didn’t have to worry much about it.
after taking her morning medication, shelby made her way downstairs to the kitchen where she smelled breakfast. as she walked in, she saw large stacks of pancakes, some chocolate and some not, eggs and bacon. walter smiled when he saw her.
“good morning, miss o’viere. did you sleep well?” he asked.
“yeah, despite being woken up by a vampire,” shelby said, joking slightly. “and it’s okay. i’m glad i know now so that i can prepare myself,”
“i can imagine it must be quite an adjustment for you, miss o’viere,” walter stated.
“i always believed vampires existed, but i never expected to meet one, y’know,” shelby said with a soft sigh, as walter prepared her a plate of food.
“eat up,” he said after a few moments and set her plate down in front of her. “we’re going to meet the queen today,”
“what?”
“the queen.”
“as in….the queen of england?”
“that’s correct.”
shelby paused for a moment, holding her mug in her hand. “i’m meeting the queen….i’m meeting the fucking queen of england,” she breathed.
“yes, i apologize that i didn’t tell you yesterday. i was quite preoccupied,” walter apologized.
“no no, it’s okay…um, when do we go?” she asked.
“2 pm, miss o’viere.”
great. shelby thought, her face strained.
When 1 pm came around, walter drove out of the driveway of the estate and down the road towards the palace. shelby sat in the backseat, glancing out the window as the scenery went past her. she never imagined this. never imagined meeting the queen, never imagined somehow owning two vampires who would follow any order she gave them. she wasn’t sure what to think about it all, except that she had to get used to it quickly.
what would she tell her friends?
she sighed softly.
they arrived at the palace around 1:45 pm, and walter led shelby inside. she glanced around the rooms as she walked through them. the guards that guarded the throne room told them to wait for a few moments while the queen was fetched.
“this is incredible,” shelby whispered.
“never thought you would meet the queen?” walter asked.
“never,” she shook her head.
“the queen is ready for you,” one of the guards announced.
walter nodded at shelby and as the large doors opened, they walked into the palace room. immediately, shelby saw a middle-aged woman sitting at the throne on the other side of the room. the only noise that was made in the whole room was the sound of shelby’s cane hitting the floor with each step she took. they stopped about twenty feet away from the queen, who’s face was shrouded in the sunlight.
“your majesty,” walter spoke politely. “i’d like to introduce you to miss shelby o’viere, the new owner of the hellsing estate and the master of the two vampires that work for hellsing,”
“it’s a pleasure to meet you, miss o’viere,” the queen spoke politely. “walter has told me quite a lot about you,”
“it’s an honor to meet you, your majesty,” shelby said just as politely, lowering her head in respect.
“and where is your pet, miss o’viere?”
before shelby could speak, she felt a looming presence behind her, and a shadow covered her entire form. she shifted her eyes over to the side slightly as alucard stood beside her, a smile on his features.
“your highness,” alucard spoke.
“nine years since we last spoke, vampire,” the queen said. “come closer, both of you,”
shelby was confused for a moment before she felt walter nudge at her arm and she cleared her throat, walking with alucard towards the queen. “kneel,” she said.
alucard kneeled first onto one knee, and shelby went down next, despite her leg. it was going to suck getting up. the queen reached out with both hands and shelby flinched as a hand reached towards her. instead of pain, she felt the softness of the queen’s hand on her face, gently stroking her skin as a mother would. alucard hummed beside her, his own cheek being stroked by the queen.
“do i frighten you, miss o’viere?” the queen asked softly.
“no,” shelby replied just as softly. “i’m just not used to….soft contact,”
“you’ve been through a lot, haven’t you my dear girl?”
“yes, your highness,” shelby said softly, her eyes lowering slightly. she hadn’t felt soft contact like this in so long, not since before the accident that made her a cripple.
the queen stroked her face once more before turning her gaze to alucard, who’s own features were soft. “i’m not young anymore, count.”
“you’re beautiful, i envy your ability to age,” alucard admitted.
“ever so charismatic,” the queen smiled softly.
shelby had been thinking while the queen’s attention was focused on alucard. she knew this was dangerous, the whole situation itself. “your highness?” she asked.
“yes?” the queen asked, looking towards her.
“my last name. i want to keep my last name, but i want to hyphen it,” shelby replied.
“to what, dear?”
“hellsing. shelby elizabeth o’viere-hellsing,”
alucard’s ruby gaze shifted towards her, the smile on his features turning into a grin.
“then it will be changed,” the queen nodded. “today, until your last day, you will be known as shelby elizabeth o’viere-hellsing.”
“thank you, your highness,” she whispered.
~ ~
“i’m surprised that you wanted to hyphen your last name and add hellsing onto it,” walter said, as he drove them back to the estate.
“if i’m going to do this, going to do all of this, i want to be known as a hellsing,” shelby replied, shifting her position slightly in her seat.
“integra would be proud,” alucard hummed, sitting across from her. “finally admitting to yourself that you wanted to do this,”
“just because i’ve decided to become a hellsing, doesn’t mean i’m going to order you around like a servant,” shelby said, crossing her arms over her chest.
“you are my master and i am your servant. whatever you order of me, i will do,” alucard grinned, ruby eyes glowing at her from under his hat.
“why do you even respect me? i haven’t done anything to earn that respect.”
“you shot me instead of running away. i admire that,” the vampire replied. “not many humans face a monster with courage,”
“or stupidity,” she added.
alucard laughed at her words.
once they got back to the estate, shelby went into the kitchen to take pain medication for her leg. “the queen said she knew the best doctors to recover the use of my leg,” she said, taking the pills down with water.
“will you take it?” walter asked.
“no,” she replied, shaking her head. “after seven surgeries, i grew tired of being poked and prodded. there’s no use for surgeries anymore,”
“i see,” walter said. “and how are you feeling about everything?”
shelby put her glass of water down, noticing that her hands were shaking slightly. “a bit nervous, to be honest. i’ve never been in this situation before, the master of a vampire….and i’ve already gained his respect,”
“i can’t read alucard’s mind, but i can guarantee that alucard respects you because you shot him instead of running away,” walter spoke. “now, would you like leftovers tonight or would you like me to cook?”
“leftovers is fine, better to eat them than to waste food.” shelby said. “i’ll be in my office. if you need anything, don’t hesitate to come in,”
“of course, miss o’viere-hellsing,”
~ ~
midnight neared that night. shelby had already tried falling asleep once, but couldn’t fall asleep, so she had decided to go back to her office to message one of her friends. he was a lawyer who worked in her former home state of indiana and was a very good lawyer and had even defended her a few times.
[message to shelby]: shouldn’t you be asleep?
[message to kahn]: can’t sleep. i’m still adjusting to everything. it’s so different here.
[message to shelby]: your parents have been asking me where you’ve gone. i’ve told them nothing of your location and let them know that when you’re ready, you’ll speak to them yourself.
[message to kahn]: thanks for doing that. i’m too busy to deal with them right now. i think i’m going to try and go back to sleep.
[message to shelby]: alright. we’ll talk soon.
shelby logged off of her laptop and got up, using her cane as support to walk back to her bedroom. once there, she switched on the nightstand lamp and sat down on the edge, rubbing a hand down her face. she was finally getting tired enough that she could lay down.
late night, master?”
alucard’s voice was heard first before he phased through the wall and into her bedroom. he chuckled softly, turning his gaze on her. “humans need at least 8 hours of sleep. surely you’re exhausted from today’s events,”
“i’m always tired, alucard,” shelby said softly. “that comes from the depression,”
“depression is an excuse,”
“it’s not,” she shook her head. “my brain doesn’t produce enough dopamine. i have a wide variety of mental health disorders and physical ones,”
“yet you still live your life and take risks,”
“they’re called invisible disabilities for a reason,” she said. “but i go on, because i decided to fight,”
“admirable,” he whistled.
alucard paused in his footsteps once he was in front of her and shelby watched with tired eyes as the vampire kneeled down in front of her, ruby eyes lowered as they gazed at her. “why do you refuse the queen’s help for your leg, master?”
“because i don’t want to be poked and prodded at anymore,” she replied with a shake of her head. “i went through seven surgeries before i called it quits,”
alucard reached up with a gloved hand, placing it on her bare knee (she was wearing shorts that just reached her knees). shelby twitched at the difference in temperature, the hand of the vampire sliding down along the length of her right leg. alucard could feel the deep, jagged scar in her skin, and he saw indentations of where stitches had been, where the skin had been opened up to reset the bone inside.
“if you wished, i can end the life of the very person who did this to you,” he purred, meeting her gaze with his own.
“no,” she shook her head.
“why not?”
“because the person who did this was my sister,” she explained. “she had been drinking and driving and my side was hit by a semi. my leg was damaged and….”
her eyelids lowered slightly. “it took another part of me, despite knowing i didn’t want anything to do with it. the accident caused rebar to pierce through my body, damaging my uterus. the doctors said that if i hadn’t had it removed that night, the infection would have killed me,”
“and yet you defend your sister,” alucard droned.
“she doesn’t deserve to die. she deserves to live with her mistakes and knowing that i’ll never forgive her for that,” shelby sighed softly.
“good choice, master,” he hummed.
shelby went quiet for a moment before she glanced back down to him. “you said my blood tasted exquisite.”
“yes, sweet with a kick to it.”
“when’s the last time you actually fed from a human?”
alucard’s eyes widened slightly, before they lowered. “not in a very long time. even so, a bite from a vampire either turns you into another vampire, given you’re a virgin, or a ghoul.”
“i’m not thinking of that,”
shelby pulled open the drawer of her night stand and pulled out a small pocket knife. flipping it open, she placed the sharp blade on the skin of her left forearm and swiftly, with a wince, she drew the blade across her skin to allow blood to flow steadily from the wound. she held out her arm to the vampire.
“you’re playing a dangerous game, master,” alucard spoke.
“don’t make me change my mind,” she said firmly.
alucard grinned. he wrapped the fingers of his other hand around her wrist, as he leaned in towards the bleeding cut. “mind your teeth,” she warned.
the vampire parted his lips, long tongue lolling out and slowly running up the length of the cut. shelby hissed quietly at the lance of pain, but she kept still. after a few licks, the pain faded away slowly and was replaced with a numbing sensation that tingled slightly. she watched with lowered eyes as the powerful creature before her wrapped his lips around the cut, sucking and lapping up the sweet blood that escaped her. despite alucard being cold, she felt the warmth of his mouth on her skin.
was this what it was supposed to feel like? having a vampire who called you master and obeyed your every command? she didn’t want it to be just that.
she never felt the tinge of his teeth against her flesh. her eyes fluttered close for a brief moment, until she felt alucard remove his mouth from her arm. she turned her gaze down to him, as he licked his lips free of blood. his ruby red eyes were glowing brightly in satisfaction, boring deep into her own hazel ones.
“how was it?” she asked, grabbing a few tissues off her nightstand and pressing them against the cut, which had stopped bleeding but now.
“delicious,” he purred. “better right from the source,”
shelby wasn’t sure how she could describe what had just happened. she willingly let a vampire drink her blood. was it a trust thing?
she reached forward with her hand, warm fingertips slowly brushing across the vampire’s cheek. he was as cold as she expected. his gaze softened, eyelids lowering slightly as though he was pleased by her touch. as she cupped his cheek, alucard tilted his face into her touch, eyes closing as his face softened.
“you don’t even know me,” shelby said softly, thumb stroking over the soft, pale skin.
“we have plenty of time for that. you are my master and i am at your command,” he spoke, lowering his head until it was resting in her lap, the side of his face pressed against her clothed thigh. “whatever you wish, as it shall be done,”
shelby released a soft sigh and ran her free hand through strands of silky, black hair. they moved slightly from her touch, as if alive.
“you’ll protect me?”
“of course, my master,”
“okay,”
