Ecco was standing on top of the roof, her feet on the edge of the rooftop and she was debating with herself. On one hand, she felt it would be easier but on the other hand, she didn’t actually want to jump. The girl was so deep in her thoughts that she never noticed someone walking up behind her. It was only when she felt a hand grab her wrist to pull her away from the edge that she actually noticed she wasn’t alone.

“Huh- what??”

“you ran off so quickly- I thought something was wrong- sorry, I shouldn’t have followed but- wait … is that my milk you got?”

Ecco spoke quickly before she froze and glanced at the milk carton in Selina’s jacket.

Selina needed some new supplies which meant only one thing; she’d have to steal. So she was walking casually down the streets before she ‘accidentally’ bumped into someone. The person quickly grabs their shopping and apologises to Selina but Selina had offered to help so she quickly picked up some milk before running off and fleeing the scene.

“Bingo~” but Selina could hear footsteps behind her while she ran off

 Ecco’s face remained impassive, looking at Jerome with a blank stare. However, internally she was disgusted. He may have given Jeremiah the greatest gift ever and enabled them to spread freedom, to unmask Gotham and allow it to show its true face. Although, the stitched face clown was irritating. It made Ecco want to kick the shit out of him. Again. Maybe she would, but she didn’t have any orders to do so. She wouldn’t dare go against the will of Jeremiah. 

 The insults towards Jeremiah though, she wouldn’t let stand. A menacing smile appeared on her face as she stepped closer to the irritating ginger. Her smile promising danger and her eyes alight with annoyance. Giggling softly, she looked into Jerome’s eyes. 

 “Your brother is the light, the one giving Gotham what it needs. He’s a movement, he’s an idea. I am his most devoted disciple, I will not have you defiling his name,” Ecco growled out. “So, Red, why don’t you exist stage left and allow Jeremiah to give his blessings?” A more genuine grin appeared on her face, as if she was relishing this. “You were a great opener, now that real show begins.”

Hey all! Today I’m going to talk about an article that came out recently concerning Jeremiah in Season 5. In the article, the author of it says that that we’re definitely getting a love interest for him in the next season. This is very interesting, concerning the fact that we have Ecco, who is clearly a Harley Quinn-esque character. Here’s a quote from the article concerning the subject: “he [John Stephens] does let slip that a planned love interest for the Joker-ish Jeremiah ‘may be’ the show’s long-expected version of Harley Quinn.” For those who don’t know, Gotham has wanted to introduce Harley since Season 2. Ever since Ecco was introduced, there has been speculation that she is the Harley of the show. I personally think that she is. The article, however, says “But when you factor in the wording of “a planned love interest,” it does sound like we’re to expect a different gal entirely.” 

I really don’t think we’re going to get another character to play the role. Here are the reasons why I think that Ecco is going to be Jeremiah’s love interest in Season 5, and the long awaited version of Harley Quinn on Gotham rather than another character to be introduced.

1.) Her appearance in Season 4: Honestly, I think that if they were introducing another character for the role it would be pointless; Ecco was introduced in Season 4 as Jeremiah’s assistant, proxy, and bodyguard. We also know that she devoted her life to him! That is definitely something that Harley would do, as she devoted her life in helping the Joker in all of his intentions. If they played her up as this character and then got another girl to play the Harley role, it would be terrible development and Ecco’s character would pretty much be pointless. 

2.) Francesca Root-Dodson is confirmed to come back for Season 5: This was pretty much confirmed by Francesca herself on her Instagram in a post that read “Endlessly psyched for Gotham Season 5 💀💀💀” with fanart of Jeremiah and Ecco. Also, Bobatalks, a reliable Youtuber who posts videos about Gotham confirmed that she was coming back, stating that he was not allowed to tell anyone how he knew this information. (Here’s his video on the topic) Once again, having Ecco come back for season 5 and then not having her as Jeremiah’s lover would not make sense due to the fact that she’s his right hand woman.

3.) The Breaking into Wayne Industries Scene: This scene cemented the two as being a pair, connected by crime and each other. Gotham’s writers didn’t have to put Ecco in the scene; if you think about it, the writers could have wrote the scene so that just Jeremiah could have been there and could have shot the guards by himself. Jeremiah putting his hand on Ecco’s arm showed that he was proud of her for her actions and showed them as a team. The way he looked at her afterwards and how his hand caressed his arm showed their unique chemistry and connection. Her appearance in this scene couldn’t just be coincidence; I honestly believe that it was put in the episode as a teaser for what’s to come between the two, and especially because it was the last scene in which we saw Ecco during Season 4.

4.) Her Appearance: Many of us know that Harley Quinn is blonde, which also happens to be the same hair color that Ecco has. Also, her Harlequin suit shares the iconic Harley color scheme of black, red, white, and even a bit of blue. Her face mask resembles Harley’s face in the comics when she is in her costume, and her hood even has the little jingle bells. Giving Ecco these shared traits in her appearance and her costume seems to be for a specific reason. If another character were to replace her in her role of being Jeremiah’s right hand, it would be so unintelligent due to the fact that she has the costume and the looks for the part.

5.) Her ‘Mummer’ persona: in the credits of episode 4x20, it was revealed that Francesca played the part of Ecco and “Mummer”, who is basically Ecco in her Harley-esque outfit. Also, guess what? I saw somewhere that a Mummer can be a form of Harlequin, or that the two of them are related in a way. Pretty clever, right?

6.) Cameron Monaghan admitted to wanting to explore their relationship more: In an interview with Comicbook.com, our boy Cameron said the following about Ecco and Jeremiah’s relationship, as to why we don’t see more between the two in the remainder of the fourth season. He says, “For the finale, there's less of a focus on that because we want to make it more specific to the relationship between Jeremiah and Bruce...That becomes the primary focus. I think that, fingers crossed, if there's a season 5, that could be something we could explore then...It was a conversation I had and mentioned to them, but I think that ultimately they just didn't want the core story that they were trying to tell be diluted for these last couple episodes. That's something that would work better with a bit more room to play next year." Since this relationship was confirmed for the next season of Gotham, it does seem like their relationship will develop a lot throughout Season 5. Also, the interview pretty much reveals that Ecco is the Harley-like character, if you read it.

7.) Gotham teased Ecco as being the Harley of the show way back in April: After looking way back on Gotham’s Twitter page, I found that Gotham retweeted a certain article hinting that Ecco is Gotham’s Harley Quinn:

The article pretty much talks about how Gotham may have introduced the Harley character of Gotham. It is very interesting how Gotham retweeted this, as they have been wanting to put a version of Harley in the show for the longest time, which pretty much can be said that this could be a form of confirmation.

8.) The quote itself: The quote says that she’s supposed to be a version of Harley, which probably won’t correlate with the exact character. Ecco is seen as a darker version of Harley who complements Jeremiah’s darker persona. Having them as a pair would make total and complete sense. Also, the “planned” part could be referencing how they were always intending for her character to be the show’s Harley, as they might have thought this ever since they came up with her character.

9.) Ecco’s devotion to Jeremiah: Lastly, we have some of the biggest pieces of evidence that Ecco is Jeremiah’s Harley: the fact that she devoted her life to him, just like Harley has devoted herself to the Joker in the Animated Series, Comics, and more.

I apologize that this is a bit long, I hope that I got my point across and that this made sense. Fingers crossed that we’re correct! I can’t wait.

(Ecco turns into a child for a day)

Ecco accidentally drank a new chemical that Crane had made which had made the girl now turn into a child. Which was why she was now skipping around the room she was in all happily. It wasn’t too much of a change for her, she was always a playful female. But it was definitely different in a way, Ecco was now the same height as a 10 year old kid and she was starting to act and speak like a ten year old too.

She thought she was alone in the room but she froze when she heard someone clearing their throat from behind her

“Someone explain why there’s a penguin in my damn living room? And why is it making itself comfortable as if it now owns my apartment?! Just … someone come and take this lil guy out of my apartment or I swear I’m just gonna end up keeping the lil floofball!”

It was dark out and Ecco decided she'd surprise a few ... old friends of hers since everyone in Gotham thought she was dead after being injured critically.

Ecco jumped out from behind the corner and tackled someone onto the ground

Ecco walk into the room with slightly shaky hands

“Can I stay with you here for a while? I don’t wanna be alone right now … I wanna be close to someone- is that okay with you? if you … don’t mind of course!”

Rubbing her arms quietly while looking up

“But if you don’t want me to, then I can always just go-”

Turning on her heel, Ecco turns to walk away before a hand grabs her wrist gently

Ecco was crying in a corner of Oswald’s nightclub- which was unusual since the Ecco never ever really broke down.

She was always confident and strong but for once she couldn't help but let her emotions out. She felt it was safe to cry at that moment because she thought she was alone in the club. She wasn't though. Someone else was behind Ecco and carefully watched the girl for a second before walking over. Ecco was too busy crying to even notice the person though.

Everyone was distracted until they heard a bang and a scream coming from the bottom of the stairs. Ecco was lying on the ground, half-conscious and clearly in pain. She’d accidentally lost balance and fallen down the stairs

“Ouchie…”

Jeremiah : Why?

Ecco : Well, I assume he said no

Jeremiah: No, he said yes

Ecco : Really?

Ecco (bursting into laughter) : Oh I'm sorry for him then

Ecco’s father was abusive and one day, she snapped. She decided to run away from her home and she was walking around the streets of Gotham. She didn’t exactly know where she was going but she didn’t care either. Ecco kept walking until she heard footsteps coming closer from behind her.

“Uh so- is it a bad thing when I haven’t slept in a whole 48 hours now? and still don’t want to sleep either? Just asking for a … friend- yeah, for a friend!”
