Hey, it's been awhile!
So, I don't know if you know about the Disney Villain Recruiters. You might have heard some whispers about them if you've been in the twst fandom long enough. They're a very niche part of Disney Japan, so don't be surprised if you don't know them. They're basically minions of disney villains turned human in order to recruit new minions during Halloween at Tokyo DisneySea. There are a number of videos of them on YouTube (I recommend dahjEt_'s channel)You can find out more about them here: Disney Villain Recruiters: An Introduction
And this is pic of them:
Tumblr media
I was just thinking recently about how they would approach Yuu and the shipping war within the House of Mouse.
People in the fandom pretty much agree that Jack Heart is Ace's older brother. Jack teases Ace a lot about being so far behind in the shipping race despite being Yuu's best friend. He's on the RiddleYuu ship his Queen and all of Wonderland, but he secretly ships his brother with Yuu.
Eight Foot Joe totally sympathizes with Yuu's situation being overworked by Crowley as he himself is overworked by Ursula. Joe is secretly a Chad, just a tired Chad. He gives some pretty good advice to Azul on how to woo Yuu.
Veil on the other hand gives pretty bad advice to Rollo about how to pursue Yuu. Farja is also enthusiastically shipping JamilYuu
Apple Poison, aka tall Apple Boi, and Lady Hock have soft spots for Yuu in spite of their stoicism. They don't care much for the shipping war, but they're protective of Yuu.
Mr. Dalmatia and Pretty Scar are pretty much like the animal children when it comes to protecting Yuu. They're both like the "Get you dog" vine. In fact, I actually did an animation of them a little while ago. You might have to scroll down a little to see the video: https://www.tumblr.com/tickledpink31/720236920779800576/bio?source=share
Hi! It has been a while - how have you been? I hope you're all good.
So I have heard a thing or two about the Villain Recruiters - like I saw a post with a picture of them in a Disney Villain blog once but I have no idea who they are but now hearing about their job - wow the idea is absolutely fantastic and would totally get me to join the dark side!
I have a soft spot for the villainous henchmen so I can imagine the sort of shenanigans they would get into with their animal counterparts - Eight Foot Joe mucking about with Flotsam and Jetsam, Malfie and Diablo side-eyeing each other whenever the goblins mess up because they are the only competent henchmen there, the list goes on...
Also I just want to say that I absolutely love your art - the drawings? excellent. the video? phenomenal.
I lowkey think that this would cause a smaller war between henchmen over who Yuu's favourite 'older brother/sister' is.
I also have the mental picture of Yuu being a precious smiling sunshine girl and then you have the NRC boys and Disney Villains as dark shadows looming behind her, their eyes promising a tortuous death to anyone that looks at her.
Personally, I don't really understand the Jack as Ace's brother thing since he seems to work directly under the Queen, who had long since passed since passed before Ace was even born (also isn't Ace supposed to also represent the Jack of Hearts since he steals the Queen's tarts just like the Knave of Hearts (otherwise known as the Jack) did in the poem/book?) - but then again I consider Maleficent to be Malleus' grandmother even though that's completely impossible so I'll let it slide. Plus it makes Ace's behaviour towards Riddle and the Queen's rules even more hilarious if you consider his brother is one of the people who enforces them. Just wait until Riddle finds out - he'll have a conniption!
I don't really know enough about them to write anything more specific but the idea sounds awesome!

Happy STS! If you were to design a deck of playing cards based on characters in your WIP, who would you assign to be the King? The Queen? The Jack? The Ace? And the Joker?
Happy Storyteller Saturday to you too!
This is an interesting question, one that I had to put quite some thought into in order to properly answer, honestly. Now that I think of it, I think I have some characters that would fit those roles quite nicely! (By the way, I did some - albeit rather superficial - research on the symbolic meanings of some of these cards and the opinions I found were varied, so I chose the meanings that best suited my characters of choice)
THE KING:
For the King card, I decided to take a more subversive approach rather than just outright choosing an actual ruler from my story. There are many kinds of King cards in a playing deck (king of hearts, king of spades, king of diamonds, and king of clubs) and each has its own "meanings" if you will. For this in particular, I choose King of Diamonds for my character Lord Nethen Fahris, a young man from the small nobility who is the rival and soon-to-be love interest of Princess Ellinnor Dallantes. It's a card usually associated with cunningness, secret knowledge, and shrewdness, as in someone who is good at finding advantages and navigating the situations they are in - but it is also considered an omen of protection by some, and I find that this is the perfect description for Nethen in The Last Wrath. Another character that I believe fits this card very well is surprisingly, a character with little to no noble blood, Julyan Ashiren - even though he is not actually a noble, he comes from a very ancient and powerful family of Mageborn, and is now their firstborn heir. There is also another reason for this choice, a secret about him that I cannot disclose as it is one of the main plot twists of the book, but one that makes him more than qualified for this card choice.
THE QUEEN:
For this card, the choice seemed kind of obvious, as one of my characters from the main cast is the rightful queen of a kingdom but had her birthright stolen from her (I am referring here to Princess Ellinor Dallantes). So here, I would say I choose Queen of Clubs for my young lost princess, Ellinor. Of course, I think the name of the card speaks for itself, as she is a queen in her own right and is determined to take back what was stolen from her, bringing justice to those who have wronged her family and her people. As a Queen card, it is usually associated with authority, intelligence, and being a fair but powerful leader. Ellinor is not afraid to face a war if it means setting herself and her family's subjects free from her uncle's corrupted rule, and is just as cunning as her rival-turned-lover can be. One other character that could fit the Queen card is Nadinne Ahmirah, a Lady whose family has ascended from anonymity to considerable wealth and have risen to courtiers in the local noble court of Vellamere as their exploits as seafaring merchants have more than granted them prestige and influence. She yearns to be like her ancestors, a tamer of the waves living freely as the tides dictate, but she has now duties and expectations to fulfill that keep her - at first - from achieving her dream goal. And last but still not least, the elusive and endlessly charming mercenary with a heart of steel Morwan Destrin, more than fits this role - not only she is, in all but name, almost a mercenary queen, but she is also a scorned noble (though I cannot yet disclose her true heritage).
THE JACK:
Also known as the Knave (rogue/scoundrel), the Jack card was a tricky one for sure. It's usually associated, as the monicker Knave might suggest, with a tricky or deceitful person. This is a perfect card for a few of my characters, to be precise. Raelen Ashiren is one of them, as she is quite the little rogue when it comes to standing up against unjust authorities and finding freedom in doing what is right, even if she has to be a little bit roguish or tricky to do so, and is currently wanted in several kingdoms after being wrongfully framed. Another interesting character I chose for this card was Emryc Thorne - one of Ellinor's best friends and a skilled thief who uses "street magician" tricks to confuse his opponents and make his heists successful), as he is a witty, highly intelligent, and extremely sarcastic young thief who is not afraid to use deceit to his advantage - in fact, he rather embraces it, as it is a key part of his entire "career" of choice. Emryc has earned quite a reputation as a scoundrel, for several different reasons. Luciya Anynth also fits quite well the role of the Jack card, as she is not only an outlaw to whom the value of life is freedom with no holds barred, but she is the lowborn daughter of a young man with a reputation for being quite the rogue. Last but not least, I chose Cassander Fynn as this card as well - a rebel spy, his entire occupation, as well as his life and that of hundreds of others, depends on his ability to deceive, lie and cheat his way into enemy ranks, though he maintains a strict code of honor even then.
THE ACE:
A card that is associated with the number one, it can be simultaneously the card with the highest or lowest value on a deck depending on the game. Some people associate this position with success, power, and quality, as well as good luck, though it can also be considered quite unstable. Due to certain historical events, it has also come to be considered a "Death Card" or bad luck. So, considering all of this, my characters of choice for the Ace would be Vallerius Zyndrosar, Zephyr Tellian, Bryn Seperi, and Tanwin Lyrandeth. All of said characters are complex but good-intentioned people, and are incredibly loyal to their friends, though often waves of bad luck keep them from achieving their full potential. Vallerius is an incredibly kind and smart young man who despises his magical affinity due to events in his past that made him the most wanted man by the Morosyn Empire, while he is really just a sweet kid trying to make it through the chaos of his life with only blind luck and improvisation to help. Zephyr is a smart and talented sorcerer, as well as a doting older brother, but has fallen prey to a terrible hatred curse that makes using his recently acquired magical talents very taxing and painful. Bryn is a young mercenary turned bitter by past injustices, someone who despises the continent and would rather watch it burn like it did to him in the past, but who, despite all of this, makes the decision to fight for a better future - not out of a sense of altruism or for the continent he hates, but for the people in his life that make it worth fighting for. Tanwin, once a sweet and naive young boy, was captured and turned into a soldier by an enemy warlord, and now is one of the deadliest people on the continent, often struggling between who he was turned into and the person he wishes he could be, being at the same time one of the best friends anyone could have - on a good day, that is.
THE JOKER:
A card that is often used as a wild card in games, it is one that can be extremely beneficial and harmful at the same time. Because of this, it is also often associated with chaos, intelligence, unpredictability, and wit. It is also often depicted in cards as the court Jester, a Halerquin, or a Clown. Characters that fit this card's archetype would be: Azra Moorsworth, Fabian Anynth, Ansell Kallik, and Yuna Thyren. Azra, Raelen and Julyan's adoptive brother and the (adoptive) son of their godmother, is more than meets the eye in many ways - especially when it comes to the real truth about his past and origins, something that not even he knows about. He has a joyfully playful personality and tends to use humor to lighten the mood while underneath it all there is a storm of emotions raging inside his head. Fabian "Anynth" used to be Luciya's closest friend and secretly her half-sibling (though she is not aware of it), but a shocking betrayal on his part broke their bond forever - even though, the truth about this act of treason is far from what she or their friends could have imagined. Ansell Kallik is the best archer on the continent, as well as Princess Ellinor's closest friend and confidant, but he is also a very dangerous person towards anyone who might stand to harm his friends. Also, his unpredictability shines through in combat, as his enemies can never see him coming before they already have an arrow to the chest. Yuna Thyren, another friend of Ellinor, though not nearly as close, and the second to newest member of the Princess' elite group of assassins, is one to keep her secrets under lock and key, along with her mysterious past - no one knows the truth about her or her personal mission but herself.

Happy STS! If you were to design a deck of playing cards based on characters in your WIP, who would you assign to be the King? The Queen? The Jack? The Ace? And the Joker?
Happy STS Nopal! Thanks for the ask. ❄️
I'm quite behind on all my asks (yours and others) but this one is quite quick. Most of my characters archetypes for all of my WIPs are based off of tarot cards, actually., so translating tarot and cartomancy to playing cards was not too hard. I also used to play card religiously so I am quite familiar with a playing deck as well.
I will be using Give No Quarter for this ask. I do have all of my characters sorted out for each card, but for now I'll just do Circe, Henri, and Adam because I have introduced them before (and because I have over 30 characters for this project.)
Ace of Spades: Circe
Tumblr media
Also known as the card of death, the ace of spades is the highest ranking card in a deck. These cads often foreshadow hardship, destruction, or death for it's opponents, but for it's player it symbolizes power, luck, and triumph.
King of Hearts: Henri Bellamy
Tumblr media
Ranked higher than the queen but lower that the ace, this card is commonly referred to as the suicide king because it's art frequently shows the king impaling himself. Selfless with a penchant for self sacrifice, this card combines the regalness and imperiousness of a king with the combined the accommodating and altruistic attitude of a servant. He also symbolizes power, ambition, and victory.
Jack/Knave of Spades: Adam Bonny
Tumblr media
If you didn't know, a jack is a term that pirates use frequently to identify each other. A jack card is also affectionately called a knave which is an old term for a dishonest or unscrupulous man due to there always bein a clever looking young man on the card. He frequently takes on the role as a trickster character, sometimes even more so that the joker. While the jack can be seen working alongside the king, jacks also work best as their own cards. There's a reason why the saying 'Jack of all trades' exists, the jack of spades takes initiative, learning new skills in the hopes of one day creating something original to call their own.
Tumblr media
I would love to keep going with every character in GNQ, but I have loads so I will just give you a tease with the 'main' three (I say that like Henri actually does anything in the first book lol.) Thanks again for the ask, Nopal!

Happy STS! If you were to design a deck of playing cards based on characters in your WIP, who would you assign to be the King? The Queen? The Jack? The Ace? And the Joker?
Happy STS Nopal!!
You’ve triggered my cartomancy trap card!!
And given me the chance to ramble about some characters folks haven’t seen in Arsonist Chronicles yet!! [happy stim]
So I read a standard deck of playing cards the same as I’d read tarot (sans the major arcana), with the suits converted as such: spades = swords, hearts = cups, diamonds = coins, clubs = wands, jack = knave, ace = knight (I know, I don’t read the aces as aces, great crimes have been committed on this day). You didn’t come here for that though, you came for blorbos and blorbos you shall receive!
★○★○★○★
King of Spades: Taredd is as brilliant as he is charismatic — a shame he uses what would otherwise be qualities of a good leader to be a manipulative little bastard. He’s the current king of the Fae while the Seelie Courts hold power, and only recently assumed the throne after his father mysteriously abdicated mid-Revel. The whereabouts of former king Theodas are unknown.
Queen of Spades: Princess Cassara, Cassie my beloved. Sharp, clever, and as calculating as her brother, she’s quite happy in her position as second-in-line — she gets all the perks of nobility with none of the boring work that comes along with it. That, and she might have a massive secret mutual crush on her personal guard, and as queen, she’d be expected to marry someone for political gain. No thanks!
Jack of Spades: Funny enough, a queen — the nebulous queen of the Unseelie Courts, to be exact. Although, she technically isn’t a queen just yet; she slipped away into the night right before her coronation a few months prior to the start of Unlikely Adventures. There’s a rumor she’s sought a fresh start among the humans, in retail no less, but it’s so preposterous, it’s passed around as an ironic joke rather than viable theory.
Ace of Spades: General Nelene is the aforementioned personal guard. She was part of the ritual trade-off when the Seelie Courts took over — the monarchs of the two choose new guards from the ranks, and then trade. It’s supposed to be a show of trust but, well. Fae. Anyway Nellie has a big lesbian crush on Cassara and they’re totally ✨ Doin’ It ✨ on the DL, and they’re definitely Not Planning Anything Nefarious. What do you mean the Knight of Swords represents unbridled ambition? Noooo, no, Taredd trusts her with his life, his sister’s life, and control of his forces—
King of Hearts: Life — not for the King thing, it’s because she’s compassionate and generous, but she’s got great control over her emotions and she’s wary of disrupting the universal balance.
Queen of Hearts: Death. Yeah, we saw this one coming. She’s all the hyperempathy and none of the balance, thinks with her heart, doesn’t consider so much the consequences of her actions. Listen, you take an evening stroll through a graveyard and not feel your heart shatter into a million pieces over a little girl crying about her sister. I’m not saying I’d hand her a book of necromancy instructions, but I totally would.
Jack of Hearts: Ayla, of course. She’s the very embodiment of why we should not let our id run around unchecked. War crimes.
Ace of Hearts: Phada — she’s a whole can of worms by herself, and the reason we can’t have anything nice have vampires.
King of Diamonds: Savras Zegan! Yes diamonds is my FZS&S suit. Savras is a funny little hoarder of objects both mystical and mundane.
Queen of Diamonds: Paghana Fithum, mother hen of the entire supernatural community.
Jack of Diamonds: Miorina Stazor, don’t fear the Mia, but do fear the Reaper. Something, something new life, resurrections, etc.
Ace of Diamonds: Tom Smith — a man of utmost diligence. Nuff said.

King of Clubs: Acheron La Croix, Sang-d’origine bloodline. Imagine, if you will, the stuffiest, velvet-smoking-jacketest vampire ever. Now give him Dad Energy™️. Yeah, that’s Acheron.
Queen of Clubs: Fiery, determined, strong — Pamela Foster, president of the HOA and progenitor of the Castlebury Park vampire bloodline. It’s not often a new bloodline forms but when it does, it’s a big fucking deal — not to Pam. She has gardens to judge and citations to write and meetings to run and bake sales and festivals to coordinate and boy does she give the Vampire Council a run for their money.
Jack of Clubs: Psyche Hunter is a newer vampire and brings “fresh, young energy” to the council, whatever Acheron means by that. Personally, I think it’s because she taught him how to use a smartphone. Also, she’s been adopted by Keir and they’re bisexual power besties, and I just think they’re neat.
Ace of Clubs: Keir Toussaint is the perfect example of a centuries old immortal who’s fully integrated into modern society. This man was turned in fucking 1802. Fuckin regency era rake ass loves Fortnite and shitty beer. Brash, impulsive little punk.
🃏
Finally, we’ve reached the end. The wild card. The very embodiment of universal entropy. The Deep. [kisses his stupid head] Bastard <3

Over-the-top analysis time because I am platonically in love with you
Tressa: The Jack of Spades, often known as the “Knave” or “Jack,” represents youthful energy, resourcefulness, and quick thinking. (Tressa is definitely youthful and resourceful)
Primrose: In cartomancy, the queen of spades is considered to be a sign of intelligence. It is representative of judgment that is practical, logical, and intellectual. It represents a woman who is creative and makes her plans ahead of time. (Primrose often plays the long game)
Olberic: the King of Spades is considered the most powerful card, symbolizing power, authority, and strategic thinking. (Not sure about the strategic thinking, but he's definitely power and authority)
Therion: People and cultures throughout the world used to consider the Ace of Spades to be a symbol of bad luck and death. However, nowadays, it is seen to be a symbol of success, power and good fortune, even a signal of good luck. (Oh therion is definitely it he can be read both ways)
Ophilia: the Jack of Club is a vessel for all sorts of knowledge and spins what it finds into useful threads of ideas for others to enjoy. The soul-nature of the Jack of Club is the harbinger of ideas. (Harbinger of the church maybe...?)
H'aanit: The Queen of Clubs is willing to fight for what she believes in. She is the rebel - strong, intelligent, and resilient. (yep. no other words)
Cyrus: The King of Clubs symbolizes authority, wisdom, and intellectual power, often indicating a period of decision-making or the influence of a mentor. (JAEKAEKRKREAKEARK IM STARTING TONTHINK YOU DID THIS ON PURPOSE)
Alfyn: The Ace of Clubs symbolizes new beginnings, wealth, prosperity, creativity, and the spark of new ideas. It's often seen as a positive omen for future success. (hmm. a little strain on this one but I can see where you're going with this)
Agnea: The Jack of Hearts is a card that holds deep symbolism in tarot card reading. It represents emotions, love, and new beginnings. (Agnea... noooooo....)
Partitio: The Queen of Hearts, with her majestic and nurturing aura, commands the court of emotions and relationships. She represents a force of unconditional love and the power of a nurturing spirit. (IT WORKS - Partitio nurtures talents by not giving up on them no matter what they've done)
Ochette: As the highest-ranking card in the suit of Hearts, the King of Hearts is often associated with love, empathy, and deep emotions. This powerful figure embodies the highest form of emotional intelligence, expressing profound understanding and sensitivity to the needs of others. A Leader of Wisdom and Compassion. (Yuppppppp)
Osvald: The Ace of Hearts in a deck of cards symbolizes new beginnings, love, and emotional fulfillment. It is often associated with positive emotions and situations. (elena....)
Throné: Jack of Diamonds Meaning: Embracing Life's Obstacles with Cunning and Flexibility. The Jack of Diamonds strides confidently into our lives, a harbinger of opportunity cloaked in the guise of challenge. (throne is definitely challenge and cunning)
Castti: The Queen of Diamonds carries a potent spiritual message of prosperity and abundance. This symbol serves as a powerful reminder of the potential for wealth. (Prosperity and abundance... a bit of a strain here)
Hikari: The King of Diamonds Tarot Card signifies authority, power, and financial success. (Authority and power, yes, financial success...?)
Temenos: The Ace of Diamonds signifies making a fresh start, and beginning again from scratch. (journey for the dawn anyone?)

I figured I’d share my take on Ace’s older brother, who I based off of Jack from Disney Villain Recruiters, (though I don’t know all that much about those guys…) and his name is Jax! (Bc Jack is already taken, and I didn’t want to go with “knave” or something)
Also, it’s in GL2 bc it’s easy to design characters in… I do have a page in my sketchbook for him, but 1) I’m to lazy to get up and take a picture of that page and 2) it’s just me trying to figure out ideas for his hair, so it’s not that interesting. Anyway, the actual design!
Tumblr media
I knew that I wanted him to have two-toned hair bc Jack has black hair, but I also wanted him to look like Ace and be a redhead like the other “red suits” (if that makes sense, in which I mean, Ace, Cater and Riddle)
I just gave him whatever I thought looked good, so he looks really cool. I just knew I wanted a lot of red and orange along with the heart accessories so that he’d be easily identifiable as a “heart”. I also tried to make his side hair look a bit like it was forming a heart, tho I’m not sure how well I succeeded in that. Oh yeah, he also has flowers on his shoes to represent the rose garden.
I think his favorite food would be some kind of tart, considering that in Alice in Wonderland, there’s a Knave of Hearts, (with Knave being another way of saying Jack) that ate one of the Queens tarts and gets beheaded for it. Guess it just runs in the family 🤷‍♀️
Yeah, not sure what else to say about him other than I think that Ace got a lot of his personality and interests from Jax.
Might draw this guy out someday. Who knows.

Pillow Talk - Part 1 - Heart of the Cards
Short fiction accompanying the dakki art I commissioned here
Slight NSFW
“The game, Rosa, is that you pick a card. And whatever you pick determines the favor you will get from me tonight.”
Your lover, the psychiatrist Vyn Richter–still clad in his doctor’s coat–fans a thin deck of face cards with his fingers, showing you the cards in his hand: the Knave, Queen, and King cards taken from all suits.
“For this game, we need only the Court.”
The both of you sit by the foot of his bed, catching your breaths, after your spur-of-the-moment dance.
Your lips curl into a fond smile. “Hah–you sure love your games, Vyn,” you say in between bouts of breathy giggles.
The heart thudding in your chest does not let up its almost-frenzied beating, despite resting while sitting upright, your legs curled on the gossamer-soft bed sheets.
You stare at the cards, then the wielder of the cards.
Vyn’s gold eyes sparkle with mischievous mirth, and you can’t help but inwardly melt , in return.
There is that unmistakable texture to him that prompts your heart to sing its fast, rhythmic song, and the manner in which Vyn rouses your heart to beat so wildly is nothing short of fantastic.
Just a few minutes earlier Vyn had, quite suddenly, taken you for a dance that started from the kitchen as a graceful waltz, only to break out into a flirtatious chase up the stairs–with him trying to capture your lips with his–where you successfully elude his amorous advances as you ran up the steps.
The moment the both of you have reached the upper floor he had so elegantly swept you off your feet, his strong arms gathering you into a princess carry. The doctor had, in the throes of excitement, hummed a tune off-key as he brought you into his room to lavish you with kisses.
Yet before things went any further he had proposed a game, a small diversion, something to pique his beloved Rosa’s interest.
“It is only but a lover’s game,” says Vyn as he snaps the fanned cards back into a neat deck, laying the deck on its side across his palm. He then hands it to you.
“You may cut it, if you wish.”
With both hands you take the deck and, with careful fingers, prise the top half off, placing it underneath the lower half of the deck.
“This okay?” You ask as you hand him back the cards.
“It is perfect,” Vyn replies as his long, slender magician’s fingers take the cards from you. He then starts to do the overhand shuffle with the cards, fingers working fast.
“My beloved Rosa, here are the rules,” he says, a coy grin on his face as his fingers continue cutting and shuffling the cards at breakneck speed. “You draw a Jack, you get a kiss. Queen, I will disrobe in front of you.” A pause, as he holds your amused gaze with his amatory own. “ Slowly .”
The flush on your face blooms into a more vivid pink. “I–I’d like that, actually,” you confess. The idea of Vyn stripping for you makes your loins ache for him in longing.
He only smiles, the curve of his lips nothing short of beatific, then continues, “King, then I pleasure you. To the utmost of my abilities.”
A small gasp escapes your lips, the sound of which prompts Vyn to let out a dark chuckle. “Does my Lady wish to draw the King?”
You dare glance at him, and your eyes are met with a golden, predatory stare so hungry you think he’s almost leering at you. “Of course. I like it…I like it when you make love to me, Vyn.”
“Ah. I will take care not to fall short of your expectations,” his whispers in a low voice.
“And lastly…”
You blink. The Court only has Knaves, Kings, Queens. “There is more?”
Vyn stops shuffling, and once again with flourish fans the deck of face cards with his fingers, but with the back of the cards facing you this time.
“There is one card I have inserted, that is not of the Court.” A cryptic smile plays on his lips, and you know that there is something going on.
“ Ace of Hearts . Draw it, and it is I who shall” he runs his tongue slowly on his lower lip. “...do as I please, with you.”
You merely look at him, lips slightly apart, and he smiles at you, a wolf planning how to make quick work on your sweet, sweet flesh.
“My love, pick a card.” He beckons to you, his eyes not leaving your flushed face, as if enjoying every smidgen of emotions flickering from your visage. “Go ahead. Whatever you shall draw,” a pause. “I will make sure that everything is to your expectations. And more.”
You then take a deep breath. The trembling fingers–trembling with anticipation–of your hand slowly hover near the fanned cards. You take your time choosing among the cards that bear the same markings on the back; there are no discernible markings that may set each card apart.
Then, willing yourself to fate, and to your lover, you take one of the cards with unsteady fingers.
A smile spreads on his lips as you do so.
The smile lets you know what the card is, even before you flip its face towards you. And your hunch is correct: you have drawn the Ace of Hearts.
Your lover’s carte blanche to do whatever he pleases with you, for tonight.
“Um.” You show him your card, and he only gives you a silent smile.
He gathers the rest of the fanned cards back into a square deck, then moves towards you to take what is his for the night. “Come, I shall now take my spoils–ah.”
That smile–that smile of his is suspect . You act on a hunch, and you lunge at him, pushing him down onto the bed while knocking off the cards from his hand.
All of the cards spill onto the sheets as you force upon him a breathy kiss, his body pinned underneath yours.
Your tongue slips between his lips, savoring the faint traces of the sweetness from the black forest cake lingering in his mouth.
And when his arms coil around your back, holding you fast against his body, you surreptitiously take a look at the cards all the while he kisses you back with as much fervor.
All of the cards are the Ace of Hearts.
He had swapped it, most probably, as he held your attention with his words, during the shuffling.
A sleight of hand.
“I knew it, I kne– mmmph –” your words are cut short as he cups your face with both hands, forcing you to look at him.
“There is no deception, there is no cheating,” Vyn says in between heated kisses trailing your cheek, to your ear. “You only needed to pick a card.” A soft nibble on your earlobe, as his hands roam your back. “No winning, nor losing condition.” A hand slips into the back of your blouse, snaking up to undo the hooks of your brassiere. “Only pleasure to come.”
You give in to your moans, and sighs; shuddering as his fingertips run down your spine with the slightest of touches, prompting you to arch your back. “W-well then, what will Dr. Richter want to do with his slave for the night?”
You feel his body break into soft laughter. “Such an interesting question, even coming from my brilliant, quick-witted assistant,” Vyn drawls, a fingertip tracing your lips. “Surely you should know by now that I derive my pleasure from yours.”
And you know, deep in your heart of hearts–as he wills you to sink and drown in the sultry, seductive darkness that is his obsessive love for you–that you have definitely chosen the right man.
Cards fall off the bed as he claims you, the red hearts printed on the card faces shining a dark vermillion from the shadows cast in the night.

Beboptober Day 3: Royal Flush
Thanks to @thestarlightsymphony for the prompt list! Also, my idea accidentally turned out to be pretty similar to that of @mx-sinisters....
The ace. Prodigious, high-quality, the most valuable card in the deck; showing incredible amounts of talent and luck, whether in shooting or flying or sleight of hand. But not quite the golden child. Mysterious. Enigmatic. Phlegmatic. Didn’t so much bend the world to his whims as float through it, burdened by things no other could quite understand—after all, who can read the true emotions of a card without a face? “Black as the ace of spades,” one might say—about his morality, his history. Someone who was no stranger to death; someone who was a symbol of death. Solitary, closed-off, individual. The ace worked alone.
The king. A ruler. Brimming with strength, power, authority. A ruler not by birthright, but by the circumstance of his position, the place he held among the others in their little hodgepodge of a palace. Although, perhaps, he was always meant to be so, with the caring that he couldn’t help but carry with him, the fondness he couldn’t help but show. Even when he did his best to hide it, guard his heart. Even when it hurt him in the end. A ruler, but not a tyrant—or at least he tried not to be. Reliable, principled. The leader, the glue that held all the rest together, whether they wanted it or not. Whether he wanted it or not.
The queen. Royal, regal, also a ruler, but not quite in the same way as the king. Feminine, beautiful—someone who knew this, who claimed it like a weapon—but by no means matronly, domestic, subservient. Intelligent in her own right, claimed her own power. Because no way in hell would she claim anyone else’s. Not defined by her relationship to the king, or the ace or the jack or to…anyone, really. Independent. Self-assured. In chess, not cards, the most powerful piece—able to go wherever she desired, conquer nearly whatever she pleased. But this wasn’t a game of chess.
The jack. Called a “knave,” in the olden days. A youngster, inexperienced, unskilled, but clever—too much so for their own good. A jack of all trades, whose name echoed with the old fairy tales—Jack Frost, Jack and the Beanstalk, Jack the Giant Killer—that were retold over and over on the Earth of the past. Who loved tricks and mischief, solely for their own sake, their own fun. Unpredictable. Mercurial. Naïve. Who made mistakes and got into scrapes, but—through their own wit and ingenuity and a little bit of luck—always emerged victorious.
The ten. Underestimated, overlooked, since it wasn’t a face card like the others. But of the non-face cards, indisputably the most powerful, the most intelligent. And in conjunction with them all—sitting unassumingly at the end of the hand, loyally at the heels of the jack—could make something truly powerful.
The five of them. Ace, king, queen, jack, ten. A royal flush.
The rarest hand in all of poker.
The luckiest.

Twisted Wonderland Theory! May have future spoilers so please skip this post if you don’t want to risk getting spoiled.
I accidentally posted this before it was finished before, that’s why this might seem like a repeated post, whoops sorry. Edit: Also I tumblr keeps on messing up the format and making me edit it again ;-;
Anyways, It seems like a bunch of people are interested in learning more about this theory circulating among JPN twisted wonderland fans so here I am to display the possible evidence/hints. I had to use google translate to look at some of their claims and although it’s easy to just confirm on your own the claims I have to admit I couldn’t list some of their claims simply because I couldn’t understand what they were saying. Please keep in mind this is only a speculation and has no in-game proof or foreshadowing that I’ve seen at the very least proving it, so take it with a grain of salt. Now, onto the theory!
The Ace Betrayal Theory
This theory concerns our beloved Ace Trappola and concerning “coincidences” that point to Ace possible betraying us in the future. If you would like to look at the twitter posts yourself, search up エース 裏切り説し on twitter.
So first of all, the first thing that may point at things being not what they seem, or at least that something is wrong is the Heartslabyul dorm main characters. There are 5 main characters from the Heartslabyul dorm and in terms of cards it seems a bit odd that there is no sign of a joker within the dorm, of course you could chalk it up to Riddle being the Queen of Hearts in Alice in Wonderland so he doesn’t count as a “Heart”. With the “heart” suit being represented by Ace and Riddle, is it possible one of them could also represent the joker? In this case, when I say “joker” I don’t mean they’re gonna be like “surprise I’m actually a joker not a heart suit!” I more so mean that one of them will like a wild card. Given that Riddle already had his episode, and Ace’s status proven by the twisted wonderland opening to be a main character, could we say that Ace could be the “joker” of the dorm in a way? The wild card? Of course this point is based on perspective, if you exclude Riddle from being counted as a “Heart” suit then the dorm is fine, but if you count him as someone representing the “Heart” suit then the repetition seems odd.
There is one main concerning part of this theory that surely would be difficult to pass of as mere coincidence, and it’s Ace’s last name, “Trappola”.
In Italian is means  “trap/pitfall(a possible danger)".
And Ace is the only dorm member to not have his suit somewhere in his last name, instead he has Trappola, a Venetian trick-taking card game where the Ace is the most powerful card. (Funny enough, it seems like the Deuce is the second most powerful in terms of points alone) And it’s no news to anyone who’s read Ace’s profile that he enjoys card games doesn’t he? What’s a trick-taking card game? It’s a tile based game where each round is called a “trick” and in Trappola, your goal is to take/win the trick. Funny thing is, in Trappola specifically, it seems like the player is awarded bonus points for taking a trick(s) with a Deuce.
There is also another trick-taking, or more so, trick-avoiding game called “Hearts” where you try to have the least amount of points by the end of the game. You get points by wining hearts in tricks in which the amount of points lost depends on the the specific card, with the ace of hearts giving the most points (something you do not want). A fan interpreted this in terms of twisted wonderland to be another pointer for Ace betraying the group just as the Ace of hearts in the game in a way betrays you because it gives you the most points, I personally feel like this is a stretch? But I listed it anyways in case you wanted to know.
Edit: It has been brought to my attention that the Red Queen and Jack of Hearts are from Alice through the Looking Glass and not Alice in Wonderland so the next point does not hold as much ground anymore, but I’ll leave it here anyways
Then there is Ace's similarity or possible link to a character within Alice in Wonderland, being the Jack/Knave of Hearts, who betrays the Red Queen (whom he was previous lovers with, and in general close to the Red Queen). Both Ace and Jack(or the Knave of hearts) have a heart on or around their left eye (our right). Both Jack and Ace steal a tart from the Red Queen (Queen of Hearts (Riddle) in Ace's case). Next, Both betray the Red Queen/Queen of Hearts respectively at one point (Jack tries to kill the Red Queen while Ace tries to take Riddle’s dorm leader position).Off topic coincidence, there is an otome game where the Jack of Hearts is named "Ace". Now this point’s coincidences seem difficult to be just “coincidences” but at the same time you could also say that Ace’s role as the Jack of Hearts has already ended since he has already had his failed attempt at overthrowing Riddle. The concerning part of this link though is that the Jack of hearts tried to kill the person they were at least it seemed to be very close to and at least loyal to (when in actually he hated her) while Ace himself wasn't very close to Riddle at that point, but who is Ace close to and loyal(?) to? MC and the gang ;-; But still take this possibility as a grain of salt.
Of course, we know Ace’s name isn’t Jack, or at least, hopefully he doesn’t pull a “Ace is not my true name at all! Instead I’m also named Jack/Knave!”. But he does have a older brother who once went to the same school, could it be that Ace’s brother is named Jack/Knave? We don’t know much about his brother besides it seems like he was rather relevant as he led a parade that is shown in a picture in one of the halls of the school and that he’s good at card tricks. And similiar to how the Red Queen and the Queen of Hearts are different, the Knave of hearts and the Red knight could also be different, with the Knave of Hearts and the Red knight being Ace’s brother and him. Still, we need more info to see how relevant Ace’s brother is in all of this.
Next we have the Twisted Wonderland Opening Movie, which has proven to spoil/hint at plot lines before with Azul as the opening movie teases Azul’s overblot form as well as his child self photos. Now in the opening a fan has noted that every character so far that has been seen alone (besides the part where they have the character’s names and dorms, this part (because Kalim appears and the dorm leaders have to be alone)
Tumblr media
Every character that has appeared alone or a bit during the opening so far has overbloted, Jamil, Leona, (and we can guess Malleus and Idia will overblot). While every other character has been introduced with someone alongside them, for example, Epel only appears with Rook, Floyd only appears with Jade, Jack only appears with Ruggie, and the Diasomnia group(minus Malleus) only appear with each other. But who else appears by them self? Our boy Ace.
Tumblr media
And Deuce who the OP proves alongside Ace has the same amount of relevance is introduced alongside Cater and Trey
Tumblr media
Now for Ace to overblot, it probably means he’s gonna do something villainous like I don’t know, betray the group?
Now here’s the thing, does Ace’s character/personality have the potential to be evil/betray us? Yes, 100 times yes. This is the man who went up to us in the prologue and acted all nice and everything explaining the Great Seven, only to laugh (maniacally?) at our misery and ignorance claiming to have only visited us to mess with us and essentially mock us. If Deuce is the person who could and would (if you pissed him off) physically beat you to death, then Ace is the person to psychologically and emotionally torment/manipulate you, oh and verbal abuse too, he’s good at that. One thing I personally find very concerning about Ace is his hobby of card tricks, like aren’t you guys based off of cards? Are you trying to tell me Ace is good at manipulating/messing with people?
Like we’ve seen Ace be good at acting and lying on two separate occasions in the story, one with us in the beginning, two with the guard at the underwater museum. In his personal stories, for example in the ‘A Kouhai This Honest’ story, Trey comments on how Ace did indeed have ulterior motives to helping Trey besides just wanting a cherry pie as Ace was trying to fish possible test questions out from Trey. This is their conversation:
Ace: “To collect information, I’m carrying all this heavy stuff~ Beside, Trey-senpai you too… You knew from the beginning I wouldn’t carry all this stuff for a pie with lots of cherry on it “
Trey: “ You… could it be you were lying about liking cherries too?”
Ace: “ That’s the truth. I learnt that from my big brother. “When you’re lying mix a bit of truth in it” he said”
And with the Tch, I Got Found Out’ personal story he tries to take the profit all for himself:
Ruggie:  “ But anyway, isn’t it fine in the end? It wraps up without sensei knowing so your mark doesn’t get affected Anyway, I’m also… wait, Ace-kun!? Where are you going with that bag? That’s the mandragoras to be sold to the ghosts. Don’t just take it like that!”
Ace: “ Tch, I got found out. I thought I could sneak off with it while you two aren’t looking at me ”
Ruggie:  “ You were planning to slip out and take the pay all for yourself huh? What an impudent first year”
Jamil:  “ When I thought you were being all meek…You sure are bold”
Ace: ”Hehe, I’ll take that as a praise, senpais ♪ “
It clear to see Ace at times schemes for his own benefit, whether that is taking advantage of his senpais or other people, Ace will lie and pretend to be innocent while carrying out his ulterior motives. Funny how his big brother taught him that.
On another note, Ace has the uncanny ability of being able to copy what he sees, from his brother’s card tricks, to how to speak hedgehog from seeing Rook just say the phrase once, from quickly learning how to extract um, something from mandragoras and doing it very efficiently. Perhaps will his unique magic be a copy magic, maybe copying the unique magic of others? If so, that sounds like an ability that could build up blot fast if he uses it willy-nilly. (it also sounds OP)
All in all, it seems like Ace really does have the potential to be the villain at one point (even though almost all of them are villains lol).
One more thing pointing to a possible Ace betrayal in the future is kinda a stretch in my opinion, but I will list it anyways because it’s coincidences are a bit unnerving. It has to do with birth month flowers and the Dahlia, a flower which can symbolise “Warning someone about a potential betrayal” and Dahlia is the birth flower of August, what month comes right after August? September, the birth month of both Ace and Jamil. Guess what? Jamil betrayed Kalim in the story.
Well, that’s it for the evidence at least I found people using for the Ace betrayal theory, some of it is a stretch and some of it’s is concerning if it was a mere “coincidence”. I hope you enjoyed reading this, regardless if in the end you believe in this theory or not. I personally love this theory because I love the thought of Ace getting more development in the future, also the fan art people make for this theory is great. For example, the twitter account  @GPs_ac has a piece of fan art of the ace betrayal theory and it’s great.
Also If Ace does betray us, I want to see Deuce beat him into the ground ahahaha... (I still love you Ace but I will be hurt if you do betray us, this is why I stan Deuce lol)
Turns out MC can’t trust anyone but Deuce, because Grim is probably gonna overblot and Ace might betray.
Also, fun fact. The Ace of Spades symbolises death
Haha very funny Disney, making our lovable no braincells duo represent death
Anyways feel free to comment your thoughts on the theory!

Claire (Princess of Hearts) (Verse Dependent - Aged by magic, 16.)
Important Tie In’s and Relations
The Oracle - Created Wonderland and a few of the “original” creatures who have since perished - the only remaining “original” creature is Elliot, often known as the “Light” Oracle, has a twin brother Key who is the “Dark” Oracle. Split one wonderland into two, recently this one wonderland has been “put back together again”. Has certain rules set by herself she considers “taboo”.
Elliot - His existance is known by very few, thought to have been killed (tied in to another verse)
Alexander - William’s older brother, has filled in as the King of Hearts previously, Shay’s blood relative (but not Sean’s), has served as Lieutenant of the Heart Army, was once controlled by William through an enchanted item, kept Shay and Sean in hiding for years and had a hand in raising them, took Darius in as a teenager for a time.
William - Shay’s father (kept a secret that he wasn’t Sean’s for years), killed Sara (Shay and Sean’s birth mother) by ripping out her heart which thus turned him into the “heartless King”, has been killed before by Sean/Shay - has died more than once, however, he was able to come back to life through his heart still existing in Wonderland.
Darius - Only recently found out he had a twin sister, Darla, who their parents took to another realm, spent most of his life including childhood on the streets alone. Suffered a tragic event when he was younger and he was taken in by a man named Demetrius who used him for his powers before he was taken in by Alexander. Has many connections in Wonderland, including an alliance/friendship with BB. Possibly even more powerful of a telekinetic than William.
Darla - Was taken to another realm when she was young, used by her parents to manipulate many and to gain wealth, recently learned the truth after her parents died and went to Wonderland through a mirror in the attic to be reunited with her twin brother.
Jack - His parents were both killed by William in William’s thirst for power however, Shay (with the help of the Oracle) took the crown, he was too much of a coward to take the crown for himself for a time. Has a fondness (crush) on Shay, recently (and finally) matured enough to take the crown and his rightful place as King (leaving Shay to reclaim the crown of Hearts that was her birthright).
Layla - Close friends with Jack, admires Shay. Has a twin sister, Ace, who was married to the Eleven of Spades and has since left the Castle Spade.
BB - Once controlled by William for a time by a collar that had her full name engraved in it, gave up one of her (9) lives to bring William back to life (in one verse), has had her hand in changing time - think major butterfly effect (in another verse), is allies with Darius, switches sides often.
Sean - Recently found out that his sister Shay is only his half-sister - they share the same mother, not the same father. Has ties in to many realms, namely the mirrored realm where his “dark reflection” had in the past taken him over - recently he has been able to take complete control (its complicated lol), has many connections both in and out of Wonderland.
Shay - Served as Queen of Spades for a time, recently has taken the crown from her father to serve as the Queen of Hearts. Has proven herself as a warrior time and time again - respected by many denizens of both the Heart and Spade Kingdoms
Kendra - Once was a beloved and kind Queen, however has been manipulated by Pesha, the Queen of Diamonds - since she became “best friends” with Pesha her own denizens now fear her and her Queendom is suffering greatly because of it.
Claire - Affected by a rare Wonderlandian magic that aged her from an infant, to 10 years old, to 16 years old over the period of a week - now she is aging “normally”. Is the daughter of Sinclair and Shay (another verse)

How to use Playing Cards as a Tarot Deck
Practicing cartomancy with playing cards is a great option for those who need to keep their practice secret or don’t want to or can’t buy a tarot deck. This is by no means an exact equivalent to tarot, but is an easily accessible alternative! Also keep in mind that you could absolutely use playing cards to practice cartomancy using methods completely separate from tarot, but this specific technique is designed to mimic a tarot deck as much as possible.
A tarot deck has 78 cards, while a standard playing card deck only has 52. Therefore, you have three main options:
1. Use the basic 52-card deck (Minor Arcana only, Knights and Pages combined into Jacks)
2. Add in 4 cards from another deck (Entire Minor Arcana, duplicate Jacks)
3. Add in 26 cards from another deck (Entire tarot deck, duplicate cards listed later)
Here are the correspondences you can use for the suits. I have a post with more in-depth descriptions of each suit here.
✨ Wands // Clubs ♣️
energy, passion, motivation, and enthusiasm
🍷 Cups // Hearts  ♥️
emotions, relationships, and intuition
⚔ Swords // Spades ♠️
intellect, communication, conflict, and logic
⭐ Pentacles // Diamonds ♦️
material and physical world
If you choose to use the basic 52-card deck, the Knights and Pages will be combined into the Jacks (sometimes called Knaves). I promise this isn’t too complicated; just keep in mind that they both have a less developed understanding of their suit compared to the Kings and Queens, and will act with enthusiastically but a bit naively.
♣️ Jack of Clubs ♣️
enthusiastic, confident, energetic, adventurous
♥️ Jack of Hearts ♥️
emotional, imaginative, idealistic, introspective
♠️ Jack of Spades ♠️
opinionated, curious, defensive, analytical
♦️ Jack of Diamonds ♦️
practical, diligent, cautious, responsible
If you don’t want to combine Knights and Pages, you can add in four additional Jacks from another deck. Of course when you add in duplicate cards, you’ll have to differentiate them somehow -- marking them is probably your best option! This also is what you’ll need to do if you’re interested in reading reversals, as unlike tarot cards most playing card decks are exactly symmetrical and otherwise there’s no way to tell which way is upright. To keep the shuffling and card selection as random as possible, it’s ideal to use identical decks, or at least decks of similar sizes so they shuffle together nicely!
It’s certainly possible to practice cartomancy with just the Minor Arcana -- these 56 cards relate to day-to-day life, so are perfect for current, practical, applicable readings. However, there is a solution if you want to include the Major Arcana as well, as these are the cards that relate to the larger, more universal experiences. I’ve put together a list of Minor Arcana cards that hold similar meanings to the Major Arcana cards.
The concept is similar to adding in the additional Jacks -- you’d add in these duplicate cards and mark them to identify them as the Major Arcana. These correspondences are entirely based on my own opinions and interpretations, so you should feel free to tweak this list based on what would work best for you -- hopefully this at least gives you inspiration and a starting point! I’ve included a brief description below each card pairing to hopefully clarify where I saw a connection!
0. The Fool // Joker OR Three of Wands/Clubs
exploring, leaving behind the security of what you know
I. The Magician // Eight of Pentacles/Diamonds
using resources to create results
II. The High Priestess // Queen of Cups/Hearts
