TMAGP 15 Thoughts (Spoilers):
The first statement reminded me strongly of Jonny’s novel 13 Storeys (I’d highly recommend listening to it on Audible, btw; the voice performances are magnificent), as well as Ep. 8, Running on Empty (turns out both 8 & 15 were written by Newall). Naturally, it also recalled to mind old Hunt episodes from TMA— particularly Murder Club.
I’m not sure of that statement giver’s motives, but I’m inclined to speculate that either he had to hunt (as he elected to do) or he would simply be next to die, to inspire fear in his staff as they were hunted down by the clientele. But I personally would’ve chosen to die in that situation; a quick death would be preferable to such a drawn-out end (and not quite so delectable to the Hunters). I will say, in his defense, that he was perceptive or had good instincts to recognize that going to the police wouldn’t save him. I think it’s safe to say that the police are Hunt-aligned in this Universe also.
THE MATRIARCH. Excited to see more of her. Strongly suspect she’s an OIAR external, and clearly she has ties to the Bouchard family. Hoping we get to learn a great deal about her & that she dies a horrible gruesome death the likes of which Jude Perry, Not-Sasha, etc. suffered at the hands of the Archivist.
Updates on our 4 main OIAR employees (because Colin has been gone for a while now…):
1) Sam: continues to be complete dork. I say that with love.
2) Celia: the Avatars of this world can smell/sense that she’s a foreign entity. Also, glad she has a babysitter arranged for Jack given her possible propensity for random spontaneous teleportation. Very responsible. Girl’s doing her best given the circumstances.
3) Alice: has entered her 3rd Wheel era. Poor baby. Official blorbo. Good big sister. Desperately needs therapy (both for her sake & for the sake of those around her). Was all fucked up inside before most recent traumatic incident. About to go off the rails? Potentially.
4) Gwen: Icarus. That’s all I have to say about her right now.
Regarding the victim of the Deep (seemingly a Vast-Buried hybrid with a specific thalassaphobic bent to it) that Alice encountered after her brother’s concert, I have to say that their fate frightened me more than any other victim’s thus far in this Universe. It’s the perpetuity of the torture she’s enduring that truly makes my stomach turn. I hope to someday be able to communicate such horrific concepts as effectively, subtly, and concisely as Jonny managed to do with this one. I’m blown away.
Also, did it sound to anyone else like Alice was muttering a chant while giving the Deep victim CPR?

Category Analysis 3
AKA putting my data-keeping to good(?) use
i'll start with the obvious: the new episode, Well Run (episode 15) is under category 1-B, the category dealing with Externals (as far as i have gleaned).
The Matriarch is the External in this case, which we can also be sure of since earlier it was said that Gwen was to meet with another External, and now here she is meeting with Gwen. no big surprises there. my 1-B theory holds.
what i am more CURIOUS about is what is going on with the case scores lately.
in the past, there has been inconsistency with case scores, though it has been minor and something I was willing to brush off and not mention. when describing the category, the pattern is 'NUMBER'R'LETTER,' which ends up looking like 1RB or 2RC. episodes 3 and 4, however, have no 'R' in the category and are simply 2C and 3C, respectively.
the discrepancies have gotten a lot more noticeable in these last two episodes, though, and this is the part where i feel like i'm gonna get real boring talking about numbers and formatting, but whatever, maybe you're still reading
episode 14, Pet Project, has no [medium] in the score. normally, each score describes the format of the case, with these being a few examples:
episode 9 - Dice (bone) -/- fate [Magnus Statement]
episode 13 - Gambling (application) -/- self-destruction [voicemail]
THEN:
episode 14 - Transformation (snake) -/- horde
in this episode, we KNOW the medium, it was a treatment report from Alyssa Beck, employee of Elima Pest Ltd. Sam was scoring this case, though notably Gwen came in and gave pointers on how to score it. so why no medium in the score all of a sudden?
the real EGREGIOUS changes happen in episode 15, a case Celia presumably scores since it is her who hears it at her computer. when showing this full score, i will compare it to the score for episode 7, a very expected score format.
episode 7 - Agglomeration (miscellany) -/- congregation [email] - CAT2RC3338-03022016-12022024
episode 15 - Hunt (aristocratic) -/- compulsion - CAT1RB-6461-22062023-22032024
not only is there no [medium] (even though we KNOW! that this is a voicemail left to The Sentinel tip-off hotline!) but there is a DASH!!!!! between the category and the DPHW!!!!!!! i feel insane
it just feels to me like someone is changing the format, or like the norm is shifting. having recorded this information as every episode came out, i feel like the score format is my best friend and my friend is now changing.. i am suspicious!!!! leave my friend alone!!
this could very well be natural differences that show us, the listeners, that case scores aren't set in stone and can change depending on whoever writes the score, but the fact that it's only now changing a lot is what has set me off.
anyways tmagp ily see you next week <3

How would a RO react and what would they do if at a party a noble is making the mc uncomfortable by touching there arm and making suggestions
I'll go with it being before the one true bond is fully established. As you'd have to be completely insane, or dense, to try and flirt with a Rider's bonded.
Ezra/Elaria: Are completely unimpressed, but they try to keep their composure as they sidle up to your side and calmly interject. "I apologize, but I do think it's my turn to talk with MC." Their hand would gently touch your shoulder and steer you away from the noble. "Rider business, I'm afraid. It can't wait."
Caleb/Catherine: Would stiffen at the sight and become immediately uncomfortable; for entirely different reasons, but they'd be keenly aware that they're mirroring their father's usual composure. They'd quickly make their way to your side and offer a strained smile to the noble in question. "I do believe it best that you halt your drinking for tonight. Lest you continue to do something you'll regret come morning."
Jaden/Jade: The playful smirk that would have been a hallmark on their lips all evening would wither away into nothingness. Agitation became a prominent emotion across their features; sapphire blue eyes darkening to a deep stormy blue. They'd casually make their way towards you and accidentally bump into the noble in question, spilling their glass of wine all over the expensive silk of the noble's attire. "I do apologize for being so clumsy, I truly wasn't aware there was anyone of importance nearby besides the MC." They'd quickly get you both out of there.
Aidan/Aylin: Agitation, mixed with an undercurrent of worry, would promptly appear on their features at the sight that greeted them from across the hall. They couldn't believe someone would be so daft as to corner a Rider. Nor could they believe that someone would be so belligerent with their advances and denseness with the rejections. They'd stride across the room and promptly cut to ask the MC to dance. "I apologize for intruding, but MC promised me a dance before I retired for the night, and hasn't even tried to uphold their end of the bargain." It would only be while you're both dancing that they'd begin to wonder why it had bothered them so much.
Faolan/Faolyn: A warning growl would escape their lips before they'd even register the anger that had suffused itself within their chest. They wouldn't even question their natural instincts when it came to striding across the room and putting themself between you and the noble; teeth almost bared in challenge as the noble stood stupidly before them. It'd take everything in them not to make a spectacle because it's not something that would make you any more comfortable. "I'd suggest you leave this instant before I'm forced to do something I really don't think I'll regret."
Laurence/Lauren: Would calmly, and promptly, make their way over to your side and offer you a gentle smile in greeting; ignoring the noble, they'd ask you how you've been and simply pull you into a conversation with them. They'd get you away from the noble without drawing attention to the fact that they were doing so. After all, no one would want to get on the bad side of the Head Healer; even if the noble, come morning, would find that they have a worse hangover than usual.
Irithiel: Barely contained anger etches itself across her beautiful features, violet eyes darkening to a deep amethyst that only promised pain to the one that caused the reaction in the first place. The moment she grows nearer she'd be able to tell that the noble was nervous, fearful of what would cause the Matriarch to suddenly appear, but she wouldn't mind in the slightest. She'd only place a light hand on your bicep, her expression softening only for you, before hardening once more as she looks at the noble. "I must say that I'm appalled by your behavior. I invited you into Haven as a guest, and you've decided to corner one of my Rider's and harass them?" She'd step closer, her voice dropping dangerously. "I suggest you make haste and leave Haven as soon as you can. You wouldn't like to see what I'm like when I finally lose my patience."
Kyllian: Wouldn't be able to believe what he's seeing at first, but the moment it registers anger would immediately bloom across his face and he wouldn't hesitate in making his way over to you. He wouldn't even deign the noble important enough to look at, let alone speak to, but he'd gently take you by the arm and offer you a supportive smile; trying to tell you, without words, that he was there to help and that he'd make sure nothing would happen as long as he was there. He'd take you back to his table and offer you his seat-- just trying to make your night a bit brighter.

Clownical species: JOVALS
jovals : happy-go-lucky clown doll like entities that reign from a secluded realm , tasked with helping assigned humans with experiencing joy. The joval realm is governed by their prince Antic and “The Matriarch”. A living marionette hive mind of past royal jovals.
Our anti hero Whimsy is an exiled joval banished from their realm after committing the sin of eating a misfruit (the filtered joy from a human) finding themselves lost in the backrooms as punishment. Having spied and bonded with an unknowing human named Kore , they set off on an adventure to return home (or die trying)

The Iconic Matriarch
Tumblr media
[Art by Kanesha Bryant from Thirsty Sword Lesbians: Advanced Lovers and Lesbians]
The Matriarch in Thirsty Sword Lesbians is one of my artistic prides and joys. I've created lots of comics, short stories and worked on several games. The Matriarch to me is a design stand out. I want to talk about the design of that playbook more specifically sometime but instead I just want to talk about the iconic for the playbook here. The iconic here is an AU version of my OC Jillain Owlnight. Jill originated as a NPC character in a roleplay that was the adoptive mother of one of my partners OCs. I really loved her and so did she. Jillian was a lawyer who did her best to help people, she was a scrapy woman in independent practice and single just doing her best. Still she was wise, she loved magical stuff, was a big fan of birds and was did her best by her new kid.
She recurred in some other roleplays as a mother figure as a staple wink and a nod or as someone's lawyer. Eventually though, she was brought into Love Beyond The Holy Light, which was a webnovel I had been working on for a while as a powerful witch with an affinity for owls, a POV character and the mother of another POV character. This fantasy version of her was probably my most in-depth dive into her as a character. This and the following modern roleplay really finished the refinement of what this character was.
Jillian is a trans woman who lived a really hard life with bad parents, runs away from home and has fend for herself or is taken in by some magical bird, either way she is living a fairly different life than other kids. She gets a lot of skills because she needs to be all around good to survive and the lesbian falls in love with a girl, typically after years there is a sad break up, she goes through a flop era and gets her shit together when there is a kid in need that she had to care for. From there on Jill is a mega mom, she does everything for her kids and tries her best to make the world a better place. Maybe she slips up at one point, sells her morals for the kids safety or comfort but eventually turns around to do right by her kids.
Which brings us to this iconic AU version of Jillian. I wanted a version of her to do something new with less baggage. I think I said to just warrior her up at first but I was asked to provide a bit more detail and I suggested a bit more of a Sci-fiy kind of vibe. Kanesha then used the very little guidance to make this master piece. I don't know what they intended but clearly they took inspiration form the playbook too, where they gave Jillian mob boss vibes since one of the examples for The Matriarch is a mob boss. The amazing details were basically all their idea.
After getting it here is kinda how I picture everything about her working but this is just my headcanon, I hope people take her and do whatever their brains come up with for her. To me this version of Jillian runs a queer gang. Their all about bashing back and smashing the system. She is a very proud mom of her kids wearing stuff they made for her. Each color of bean represents a different kid she has taken under her wing. The eye patch was made by a sweet daughter of hers as well and the bracelets were gifts from her oldest daughter. She rips off the rich and gives back to the queers posing as a CEO or something to explain the luxuries her organization affords people.
Her family mechanic is her right hand in the mob, one of her older kids and her wife. Jillian has Been around from her experience living on the streets and traveling for jobs and warm food. Then she has In The Family due to her crime family being a known force that is not to be fucked with.
Anyway, that was my idea for the iconic here. Have you played The Matriarch, if you have what were they like? Do you have any ideas for one or been in a game with one? Did the Iconic art give you any ideas like it did for me? I'm also just always happy to hear about any TSL OC, let me know in the replies and stuff.
