The Good People (Na Daoine Maithe) | Official Trailer
The Good People (Na Daoine Maithe) is a lore-rich and choice-driven historical fantasy visual novel inspired by Irish mythology and Celtic folklore. Play as a tenant farmer from mid-19th century Ireland, whose path becomes inexplicably entwined in fairy affairs after getting robbed by the roadside and lured into the mythic and war-torn world of Tír na nÓg: A once unified land, now divided into the Seelie and Unseelie Courts. Will you escape and return home with your stolen belongings? Or does fate have something else in mind?

Facts & Questions: The Game
🍃 The Good People (Na Daoine Maithe) is a Kickstarter-funded project currently in development. Due to the scope of the story, we will be releasing content serially on Steam and Itch.io over several years, beginning November 1, 2024. While you wait, feel free to play our demo! The revised version, with all new backgrounds and more voice acting, has been released on Steam and Itch.io as of August 1st, 2024!
🍂 The main character's name and pronouns are determined by the player, but in Vol. 1 (or the demo content), the MC will be referred to as "they/them" due to a case of mistaken identity.
🍃 Thanks to our Kickstarter, all upcoming routes will have both romantic and platonic choice options. If you're uninterested in romance, feel free to make friends instead!
🍂 Due to its Irish setting, NDM will occasionally feature instances of characters speaking in Gaeilge, i.e. the Irish language. All instances of Gaeilge are linked to an internal translation tool, which will be voiced by Nigel McKeon, a Gaeilgeoir.
🍃 Shae and Robin are non-binary characters, and respectively use they/them and any/all pronouns. Robin and Keagan are also arospec, and Shae is asexual. (Note: You can pursue the arospec characters romantically, but their romances might look a little different as a result of their identity.)
🍂 The free demo consists of the introductory volume of The Good People (Na Daoine Maithe). It is 2.5 to 3 hours of total gameplay, and ends at the point in which the player would continue on to a route (Vol. 2-7). The full game will be paid.
🍃 NDM is very intentionally set just prior to the onset of the Great Famine, which is both thematically and textually relevant to the leftist, anti-imperialist story we're aiming to tell. If you would like more insight into this, refer to this post.
🍂 Some Mac users who directly download the demo from Itch.io run into issues launching the game. If you're also running into issues, please refer to this post on our itch.io page.
🍃 Prepare yourself for horse related shenanigans. 🐎

Greetings!
This is Glitch, she/they pronouns, 29F, and I'm a bit rusty as far as roleplay goes. This is a semi-selective, multiverse/ship indie rp blog for my Helluvaverse/Hazbin Hotel OCs. Before following, please read the rules.
If you wish to interact with my sideblogs they are the following:
eldritch-slacker (Belphegor)
simplendelulu (Niffty and Emberlynn)
Rules:
MDNI/18+ only I will be answering questions of all kinds including NSFW/SFW and I enjoy exploring some darker themes. If you consider blasphemy highly upsetting, you should probably avoid and/or block this blog. I am pro- do whatever you want with fiction so long as it stays in fiction and it's tagged. The only topic I won't be engaging in is anything to do with underage; it makes me uncomfortable.
Any dark content will get tagged under nsft and have whatever warnings necessary over the read more. I don't plan on rping smut any time soon at least on tumblr.
No drama ooc please. I don't care about baseless callouts, and I don't condone all of Vivzie's actions or opinions. This blog is just for fun.
Please be patient with me, I have AuDHD and I have things going on IRL. But don't be afraid to speak up if you need something tagged or don't get a response after a few days, sometimes I need a reminder. Same thing goes if I accidentally break a rule, sometimes I get blogs mixed up with who's ok with what.
I ship based on chemistry and need gradual build up for it (unless crack rp for funsies). By default, they are single

Tarot Cards: Myths, Uses, and History 7/19
Have you ever watched The Craft? Perhaps you’ve seen that corny horror film Tarot or even The Ninth Gate? What do these films have in common? Well, the use of Tarot Cards! In Hollywood, the cinematic use of the deck can be seen in gloom, paranormal or supernatural based films or shows. Tarot cards can be seen as scary, fake and even satanic. To begin to understand the world of Tarot, we need to take a glance at its origin story.
Origins
Let’s go back to 1430s Italy, where cards weren’t just used for games, but for fortune telling. Instead of the generic four suites, the Italians added a 5th suite to the deck. This fifth suite consists of 22 cards, each one containing its own unique imagery and meaning. This made the deck go from 56 to the classic 78 card we all have come to know. Originally the deck wasn’t numbered so it was up to the user to remember the order in which their deck was in. The 22 cards consist of the major arcana while the other 56 contain the minor arcana; while the major arcana depicts significant meanings to the user and the client, the major arcana also depicts The Fools journey. With the remaining 56, each suite represents an element: air-swords, wands-fire, chalices-water and coins-earth. Each suite will have 4 court cards, a page, knight queen and king.
Fast forward to 1780s France where the tarot deck will now be adapted to metaphysical/occult usage. Each suite represents something, the element of water deals in emotions, love, the element of air deals in communication and conflict and perhaps some decision making, earth deals in money and material possessions and fire deals with work, passion, careers. With the major arcana, depicts large and significant meanings in situations, spirituality, paths and even helps providing some advice.
Myths
Myth: Your deck won’t work if you buy it! You need to have it gifted to you!
Fact: for specific cultures and people, this rings true as the tarot deck is viewed to be extremely sacred. Some people even believe it needs to passed down to you; which, again, rings true to specific cultures and people. If you’re Romani or part of any culture where this is a common practice, then this may ring true to you. In modern times, you can simply walk into a Barnes and Noble, Hot Topic, Spencer’s, Earthbound Trading Co. or even go to Amazon and buy one. It’s better if you purchase the deck yourself rather than have it gifted to you. Why? Well, someone may buy you a deck, but it maybe a deck that you don’t like or didn’t want. You need to look for the specific deck that clicks with you. Now if you add it onto you wishlist, thats fine too, but you need to be the one that finds and establishes such a connection.
Myth: Tarot is Satanic! It’s just down right evil!
Fact: this is a negative belief generated by religious folks to try and keep people away from getting into it. No deck is tied to any religion really, and there is no way it can summon any entity of a large scale such as Satan. The deck is a blank slate, ready for readings and a good time.
Myth: The Death card means you will die!
Fact: There is no card in the tarot deck that gets such a bad rep like the 13th card in the deck, well, other than the Devil. But back to the 13th card, this card isn’t saying you’ll go down like it’s a Final Destination film or that you’re cursed. It’s telling you you’re experiencing the end of an era, the closing of a chapter, rebirth. One door closes and another opens. You won’t physically die, but a chapter in your life is going to close; if the death card is reversed it means you’re not allowing that chapter to close, you’re stagnant in growth.
Uses
Insight: The Tarot deck has its uses, such as providing insight on some drama or how to solve a solution with that crusty co worker. It can even help provide more insight on a personal relationship; however I personally choose not to do this because I have no reason to and it’s anxiety inducing.
Advice: Tarot decks are good at this, and they won’t lie to you either. If you need advice on how to go about job hunting or dealing with your partner’s ex. partner then these cards can happily guide you to how to properly deal with the situation you asked for advice on.
Games: To this day you can still play games with them! If readings aren’t your style, then you can for sure play card games with them!
Inspiration: ever had writers block? Tarot can help you solve that issue by giving you creative inspiration through readings or just by simply existing. This works for other forms of art besides writing!
Growth/Reflection: If you’ve ever done shadow work, or commit to therapy or anything that helps you grow and reflect on being a better person, Tarot cards can help guide you to completing that goal. The goal of the Tarot deck would to be to receive its insights and advice in order to help you seek out the desired goal of personal growth or reflection.
Epilogue
I hope you enjoyed reading my first post! This took all day to knock out because I got busy with other personal matters. Needless to say I hope you enjoyed reading this! Stay tuned for next week’s blog post!

Pics: Racism rears its ugly head - again!
1. This sounds like a great introduction to the Lovecraftian Multiverse¹!! But, I've yet to read it...
2. Spanish version of "HPL: Creator of Imaginary Worlds." Another entry for my reading wishlist!
3. A more evil looking Howard I've yet to see!!
Brr...
You just expect something to happen - right now!
4. Ahh... An anthology under the sure hand of R.M. Price, creator & editor of the great & highly missed "Crypt of Cthulhu"!!
When will its stars be set right?!!
And, let's not forget Bloch's preface. If the writer of "Psycho" introduces HPL's stories, you know he's got something important to say...
1912: "The Creation of N_s!" Part 1 -
Intro: From the only (Jellygraphed) copy ever found. "Creation" is in an unknown hand but, is accepted as accurate.
A very racist poem - that's thankfully short.
Readers need to approach such works (no matter who they're from) with a measure of both, self-awareness & life experience.
Real life must confront racial hatreds. Such personal slights need to be commented upon, for all of us to truly understand it's larger impact.
Perhaps in the form of a disclaimer webpage, containing detailed back- ground info, critical opinions, etc.
This could be used by all publishers to introduce readers to HPL's hard-luck life & his gloomy beliefs - whether they're real & imagined...
Plot: Opens with the Roman Gods creating the Earth & goes straight down from there.
"Jove²" serves as the "image of (white?) Men."
Then, "beasts (are) designed." But, "they (are) too remote³ from human- kind."
So, "a beast they (made) in semi-human (shape)⁴."
Finally, the Gods "filled (them) with vice⁵ & called (them⁶) N_s⁷."
Notes:
1. I'm not just talking about HPL's Dreamworld. Mythos tales, have been added to by many different souls.
In time, this collage of worlds has grown into a true pan-dimensional multiverse. One that touches upon prose & verse. Plus, video games, RPGs, movies, etc...
But, even in Lovecraft's time, he & his friends wrote of creatures from un- imaginably 'other' dimensions. Places that birthed Cthulhu, Azathoth, etc...
And, with any luck, I'll be added to - far into our future.
2. The mythical name Jove is actually a short version of Jupiter, King of the Roman Gods.
He was a sky God who used thunder bolts as his main weapon!
It's kind of strange that Howard didn't use a Saxon God but, went with the main Roman one.
But then, HPL did enjoy Greco- Roman myths (among others) when he was a decade & a half younger.
Still, Lovecraft should gone with Woden (Odin) or Thunor (Thor)...
3. The beasts were all remote - but, for what reason?
Howard was very picky in his word choices.
So, "being at a far distance in time & space" doesn't really work here. And it has nothing to do with "remote baths."
With HPL in mind, the best definition has got to be "not closely related."
Lovecraft was always concerned about status, class & hierarchies.
4. Now, the amateur name calling starts. African-Americans are compared to "beasts", which have "semi-human shapes."
Yes, Mr. Howard. We're all nothing more than beasts. That much has already been proven.
We're not made of any thing that's actually unique - just more meat bags!
And, we share the shape of all other humanoids. Which includes chimps & great apes.
All animals, plants, etc are at the 'peak' of their evolution - to survive in the world that we're changing, ever so quickly.
Yet, evolution continues ever on. As the world heats up, many animals will perish.
And, there's always those few that can adapt to survive or which will be over- looked in the rush to extinction.
Now, back to the true difference between men & animals.
We only differ from other animals, in what we can do with our brains. But, even there, smart birds & animals are rapidly catching up to us!!
Sadly, we tend to forget that evolution is still hard at work...
5. Only a bigot could blind himself to the fact that everyone is capable of having vices & worse. Nobody's fully 'immune'...
Also, if the Gods Filled them with that much vice, African-Americans were being set up to fail!!
It's amazing that we haven't destroyed our own selves already...
6. Actually, HPL wrote "it" - just more denigration on his part.
7. Use of the N-Word still hurts people today. And, false ideas have actually increased, til they now bombard us continuously!
We have yet to escape from this kind of racial hatred & venomous thoughts.
But, at least, some of us haven't given up fighting for the truth...
Continued in Part 2.

Things I hope I end up writing/want to write at some point (This may be a wishlist to myself since I haven't been feeling 100% in the writing mood):
{hello btw! It's 5am. holy chicken nuggets. Anyways, yeah I'm very sleep deprived. Whoever is reading, I think you're awesome and I hope you have a great day/night. I'm sorry if this post is annoying}
General Stuff
Character birthdays by zodiac signs 🥰
does anyone else like celebrating fictional characters' birthdays?
Fun fact two of my favorite characters are also Libras like me! (Kirishima & Satan). Tannie's birthday is only a day after mine too
anyways
top 10s ! I like seeing how things evolve over time
Hot takes/People sending in asks about what I think about a particular character or game
like idk "Why do you friendzone Thancred, Grey?" Because my friend is in love with him and I will never take her man. But Estinien we have agreed to share.
or similar, "What characters do I feel is off limits cause my friends like them?" I have a list.
Or "Would you trade your best friend(s) for a fictional character? If so, which character(s)?"
go ahead, someone please ask me this.
I feel like I would be curious of what people would ask me 🤔 I'd be down to answer what I can
like it could even be about characters. Like who I think would friends in crossover situations. There's one that is my absolute headcanon between ffxiv x obey me
please chat with me sometimes, i get lonely and its nice to interact with you
i'd love to talk about my d&d game that is MHA themed!
I'm tempted to make content for Blush Blush 😭 but I've already too many characters to write
There's not a lot of content for it on here
30 Day writing challenge for certain holidays. Like last year I did one for BTS/ViXX on Halloween
This year maybe I can do like a romantic month with a mix of ffxiv, obey me, mha and danganronpa
or OR 🥰 a Hogwarts themed challenge that include the series' I write for
that way I'd have a reason to write it
I'm open to ideas
I'm going to do Halloween again this time (but with the current series') so that will be fun
🤔 there was something else that I wanted to say but I can't remember is
FFXIV
More Fandaniel x reader stuff
why do i love him
he's so attractive and for what 😩
honestly idk I've wrote so much
💕 Haurchefant 💕
writing more about my ocs
they make me really happy
Obey Me!
Lucifer x Reader Arcade Date HCs (i got the idea playing Levi's birthday event. The crane game moment 🥰)
short reader x all of the boys
mostly cause i wanna use the "short people are closer to hell" phrase cause I say it all the time
but honestly why do characters gotta be so tall 😭 I'm 5 foot and y'all gonna run me over
MORE BARBATOS PLEASE 🥺💕
honestly anything chaotic as this point, I will live for it
Danganronpa
Literally anything at this point
Stop being afraid to write anything, Grey
My Hero Academia
💕 Kirishima 💕
okay but faerie Kiri
i want to do mha characters as myth stuff
like Demon Bakugou or Vampire Deku
for some reason I really like the idea of villain deku
idk I'm open to mostly anything
Crossover Stuff
i really really wanna sort characters into their hogwarts houses
just Hogwarts being my fictional comfort place is why I'd wanna see all these characters there
im cool with doing crossovers with anything as long as I know it

Note
for the ask meme: 001 for dark (even though i still haven’t watched it yet but i’m really excited to eventually) and/or 002 for beatrice/bertrand/lemony
001 for Dark:
Favorite character: Claudia - the cleverest player in the time travel game and the baddest bitch with an amazing character development
Least favorite character: Ulrich. Objectively speaking, he is hardly the worst person out there, but I just find him so annoying
5 favorite ships (canon or non-canon): Aleksander/Regina, Agnes/Doris, Hannah/Katharina, Jonas/Martha (I couldn’t care less about them for the first two seasons, but s3 changed my mind), annnd Bartosz/Silja
Character I find most attractive: AGNES
Character I would marry: do I absolutely have to marry into that horrible town? The 1950′s version of Egon seems like an okay option, I guess
Character I would be best friends with: Regina or Ines
A random thought: a fic I recently read opened my eyes to the fact that the snake biting its own tail - the symbol associated with the time travellers - could signify not only the ouroboros, in which the beginning is the end and the end is the beginning, but also (in its secondary meaning) the serpent, which seems quite appropriate for a story that has Adam, Eve, (the myth of) Paradise, and the (White) Devil, and wow... there are truly endless possibilities for analysis, what a mindblowing show (she said for the 100th time)
An unpopular opinion: I... don’t feel as strongly about Noah/Elisabeth as everyone else seems to. That must be because we didn’t see much of them as an actual couple, it was mostly a grown man around a little girl (creepy) or a young adult around a girl who is still significantly younger than he (less creepy, but still a bit weird). They obviously loved each other a lot and deserved better, but I guess I just didn’t have enough time to get attached to them as a ship
My Canon OTP: Aleksander/Regina
My Non-canon OTP: I don’t really have one at this point, but the idea of  Hannah/Katharina is slowly growing on me... who needs cheating men, lol
Most Badass Character: Claudia (see the first point)
Most Epic Villain: I don’t think there are any clear-cut villains on this show, but if we’re talking those morally gray characters who cause the most problems, then probably Eve (sorry, Adam!)
Pairing I am not a fan of: the first ship I thought of is very spoilery, so I’ll just say instead that Ulrich/Hannah was an unhealthy trashfire of a relationship that made everything worse for everybody
Character I feel the writers screwed up (in one way or another): Silja (underdeveloped, needed more personality, I still love her though), Agnes and Doris (their subplot got neglected towards the end)
Favourite Friendship: weirdly enough, I don’t know? Everyone in this story just keeps screwing everyone over. But I enjoyed what little we saw of alt!Martha and alt!Bartosz together, and, if sibling dynamics count, Martha & Magnus.
Character I most identify with: I’ve definitely made this joke somewhere already, but Wöller because comic relief eye injury + I, too, never have a clue about what’s going on
Character I wish I could be: uhhh, no one? Maybe Claudia if I really have to come up with an answer (not pre-time travel Claudia, though).
002 for B/B/L:
When I started shipping them: god, I don’t remember. Some time after joining the ASOUE fandom and reading some fics and realizing that this is a possibility and I like this possibility a lot
My thoughts: I know I’ve said this before, but it makes canon less tragic (no love triangle) and MORE tragic (Lemony loses both people he loved) at the same time, and I think that’s beautiful. Also, each dynamic between each two characters within this OT3 is so interesting in its own way! There’s Lemony/Beatrice that must have grown from a passionate relationship of two dramatic and loving people who were probably too similar in their personality and not similar enough in their aspirations to what is basically the poet and the muse (probably because writing about a muse is not as painful as mourning a real woman). There’s Bertrand/Beatrice, which I see as a more mature and healthy, if less romantic, relationship of two people who share the same goals and the weight of the same crime on their shoulders and decide to change their lives together. And then there’s Bertrand/Lemony - two gifted men who got compared to each other (well, at least L sure got compared to B) even before they first met, and who, logically, must have been rivals, except that there is a lot of fondness in how Lemony writes about the man who married his ex-bride... inch resting..... what I’m saying is that it’s a facinating dynamic made up of three separate fascinating dynamics and they live in my head rent free
What makes me happy about them: see above for fascinating dynamics + I like to imagine that whatever time they spent together was very happy for all three of them
What makes me sad about them: oh, I don’t know, the fact that two of them die, and one is left alone and depressed? :))
Things done in fanfic that annoys me: I think I liked, at least more or less, all B/B/L fics I’ve read, so I have no answer
Things I look for in fanfic: at this point I just look for fanfic, period. Also smut bc I can’t believe the closest thing to smut w/ this ship was written by me, of all people
My wishlist: I don’t see how this point is different from the previous one? Anyway, gimme all the fanfiction and fanart and headcanons and everything
Who I’d be comfortable them ending up with, if not each other:  Beatrice with R, Bertrand with Ernest (Vera sold me on this ship :D), Lemony with his Kind Editor
My happily ever after for them: B&B both survive the fire, start looking for their children, run into L, and then all three of them together manage to find Violet, Klaus, and Sunny

The book I am currently reading The Invention of Jane Harrison by Mary Beard. I’m fascinated by Hope Mirrlees, and her relationship with Jane Harrison was one of the ingredients of her life. They collaborated on a book of translated Russian tales, and Harrison’s theories seem integral both to Paris, Mirrlees’s modernist poem and to Lud-in-the-Mist. I’m loving watching Mary Beard deconstruct and re-examine ideas about what biography is in this short but brilliant book. Also Pandora’s Jar: Women in the Greek Myths by Natalie Haynes. I’m reading it slowly and with delight, an essay at a time, rejoicing in the easy erudition and the way she upends what I thought I knew and gives me something much more interesting in its place.
The book that changed my life The Book of the New Sun by Gene Wolfe. It’s brilliant, much more brilliant than I knew when I read it for the first time. I would not be the writer I am without Wolfe’s friendship, or without taking his lesson that you should write to be reread with increased pleasure by a smart reader.
The book I wish I’d written Lud-in-the-Mist by Hope Mirrlees. It’s the great English fantasy novel, about the prosaic land next to the wilderness of Faerie. It’s a history and a murder mystery, and it’s about family and dissatisfaction, and about fairy fruit, which, as with all good fantasy, stands both for itself and for poetry, and sexuality, and the things that leave us changed forever.
The last book that made me laugh Round the Horne Scripts by Marty Feldman and Barry Took. Où sont les neiges d’antan, Mr Horne? That’s your actual philosophical French.
The book that influenced my writing The Voyage of the Dawn Treader by CS Lewis. I read it when I was six, and fell in love with Narnia and with the magical story and most of all with the auctorial voice. Lewis seemed to be having a wonderful time writing, confiding in and treating the readers as if they were smart friends. It was the first time I was ever aware that there was a person behind the words. It made me want to write. It made me want to do that magic trick.
The last book that made me cry Reading Diana Wynne Jones’s Dogsbody to my daughter Maddy, some 15 years ago. I got to the book’s end and we both had very wet faces.
The book I couldn’t finish Titania Has a Mother by Caryl Brahms and SJ Simon. I love much of their work, so was thrilled recently to find a book of theirs I didn’t know about. And a fairytale book at that. Let’s just say it was of its time and hadn’t aged well.
The book I’m ashamed not to have read Laurence Sterne’s Tristram Shandy. I’ve read extracts from it and loved them. It’s a novel I approve of and keep meaning to read. I just haven’t read it.
The book I give as a gift A Humument by Tom Phillips. A Victorian novel, with pages painted over and into, messages and thoughts revealed and illuminated. It was always the book I gave people, hoping that even a few of them would read it and delight in it as I do.
The book I’d most like to be remembered for You don’t get to choose. Probably, you don’t get to be remembered, either. But most of my favourite authors are now unfashionable and forgotten, and I’d be happy to join their company, if every now and again someone found one of my books in a dusty pile and took comfort in it.
My earliest reading memory A book about a little mermaid looking for other mermaids, and the inside front cover art from a Noddy book.
My comfort read Roger Zelazny’s Lord of Light feels like a place I can go where the people know me and will have to take me in, in a novel of people become gods.

Let’s Talk About Pokemon - The Fairy Type
Tumblr media Tumblr media
During Gen 6, they dropped the bomb that is the Fairy type. The first type to be added to the series since Dark and Steel waaaay back in Gen 2. It felt like a long time coming, as the Dragon types had run rampant in Pokemon's metagame for nearly two whole decades and other fans were clamoring for a “Light” type. Honestly, myself included when I was a silly teenager. Though my interpretation of a Light type was a lot more literal than others, which seemed to give off the impression for the type to be more angelic themed that just straight up “something that lights up.”
In the end, I'm glad we got Fairy instead. A “holy” themed type for Pokemon would feel rather out of place to a point where Arceus itself is really pushing it. Fairy is a lot more flexible than even my literal Light type, since they aren't so bound to needing a spot on their body to glow or some such or are even bound to the “moral righteousness” of the hypothetical Light type fans have wanted. Despite its cute innocence on the surface, Fairy type has a lot more room to get darker than you'd expect.
I'm sure everyone by now is aware of myths and fairy tales being a lot darker back in the day than their modern interpretations. This is perfectly reflected in the Fairy types introduced after the type's inception, with many of them being cute on the surface but dreadfully dark in other places. Though if not that, they're at the very least a type of light-hearted tricksters. You got Mimikyu's shadowy appearance and murderous tendencies plus Tapu-Lele's surprisingly dark take on a classic Healer achetype, and even Klefki's meager trickery of stealing people's keys.
I don't think I overall have too many qualms with the Pokemon that got retconned into Fairy type either. They don't 100% fit the bill as the ones from Gen 6 and 7, but that's to be expected when you have to retroactively hand them the typing. The only line that outright doesn't feel like it fits to me is the Marill line. I'm past the point where I've finally convinced myself Granbull isn't Normal type anymore, but I can never get it out of my head that the Marills are anything other than pure Water. What's up with you guys? Seems arbitrary to hand the type out to something that's just sickeningly cute and nothing more.
The type as far as Gen 6-onwards goes, it could use a bit more variation. If it's pink and has huge adorable little eyes, it's probably Fairy. I can think of a handful of Gens 1-5 Pokemon that easily could've been part of the Fairy retcon, including Hypno, the Vanillite line, Banette, maybe even Conkeldurr since you could slightly associate the type with clowns? Perhaps maybe even Snorunt and Glalie. Or maybe I just want more Ice/Fairy types in particular. Pink with Light Blue is a nice color scheme, okay?
Top 10 Favorite Fairy Types:
Tumblr media
Bottom 10 Least Favorite Fairy Types:
Tumblr media
This is hard when there's so many to like. But I guess I'll narrow it down to this group of “slightly less than great” ones.
The Cutest:
Tumblr media
The Coolest:
Tumblr media
Yeah, see? We could still use a few more “cool” Fairies!
The Prettiest:
Tumblr media
The Spookiest:
Tumblr media
The Weirdest/Most Unique:
Tumblr media
Most Inventive Use of the Type:
Tumblr media
I still feel like this type has a ways to go to have this section one day be satisfyingly out-there. The most inventive it really gets is a surprise bulldog, a Fairy-deer-forest-spirit, and Spitzee being a really unique take on a Plague Doctor design.
FAIRY TYPE WISHLIST:
NOTE: These Type Wishlists were written out before any news on new Pokemon from Sword and Shield. The Pokemon revealed over time will not affect these wishlists. Just to present them unaltered despite spoilers and in the interest of getting the wishlist out there, and to see which items on said wishlists get fulfilled by Sword and Shield!
Tumblr media
A Unicorn:
At least a more modern conception of a unicorn. Rapidash is kinda in-line with old-timey unicorns that were pretty much just horses that happen to have horns and some magic powers. Go full-on My Little Pony with it, I don’t care. I want an obnoxiously colorful horse.
Tumblr media
A Gnome:
Since I've already covered elves, why not put a highlight on Gnomes? The obvious take to make would be a Grass/Fairy type given their ties to being lawn ornaments, but a gnome of any description would be hilarious to me.
Tumblr media
A Dwarf:
This is a bit more of a variation of the Gnome wish. But given dwarf's connections with the underground, mining, and such in popular culture, it could be pulled off as a Rock/Fairy type. We need more Fairies with gruff demeanors anyway! Granbull's pretty lonely.
Tumblr media
An Imp:
“But Matt!” I hear you possibly say. “Wouldn't an imp creature be more fitting for the Dark type?” Of course it is! But think of it this way: Imps are like the runts of demonic hordes of monsters. The tiny critters often with little bat wings and are in most cases in pop culture are just low-stakes tricksters compared to their more serious demon big brothers. It sounds and awful lot like a demonic version of a Fairy doesn't it? That's perfect for our first Dark/Fairy type!
Tumblr media
ANYTHING Wonderland Themed:
Honestly, the old tale of Alice in Wonderland is in and of itself a treasure trove of cool monster ideas waiting to happen to where if we get anything even vaguely themed after said old story, I'd take it. But in particular...
Tumblr media
Jabberwock:
Jabberwock is a monster within Wonderland's extended universe and has already appeared all over popular media from Final Fantasy to a number of other vaguely fantasy-themed medias. Being a rather goofy looking dragon-esque denizen of Wonderland, it's PERFECT for our first-ever Dragon/Fairy type! Or at least one that's Dragon/Fairy by default...
Tumblr media
A Sandman:
At least I think anything dream-themed would be a fit for the Fairy type that is oddly missing at the moment. I’m surprised Munna and Musharna didn’t get retconned to Fairy either. But in the interest in representing dreams as a physical being, a sandman-based monster would be a good fit for the type. Typing-wise, I’d make it Fairy/Ground but Fairy/Psychic would work just fine as well.
Tumblr media
A Cake:
In general I'm never not gonna get tired of any monster designed after desserts and sweets. But in particular, I'd love to see a cake creature. Maybe it gets more tiers/layers as it evolves and eventually becomes ridiculously tall and towering like an Alolan Exeggutor. Add in some candles and maybe it picks up the Fire type as well?

Things I want to write but have no time to:
Meta on the monsters cultivators hunt. This will be heavily based on generic xianxia concepts and about like 10% in MDZS since all we have is the Xuanwu and the bat king. Actually, most of these monsters are no different from people themselves. There’s a lot of variety in Journey to the West as well as Chinese Legends / 神话. I would not call these Chinese history, since they’re basically stories that never happened, but it’s more like, uhhh myths? legends? that goes way back.
Meta on spiritual swords. I have so much to talk to compile about spiritual swords, how they come from, and how they’re bonded to a cultivator. There’s generally so much information because I scraped them off various media and it might take some time to compile all of them together.
WWX and JC’s relationship - why and how WWX sees JC as elaboration behind his actions towards the Jiangs and JC in general.
Wishlist: I really want to write about WWX’s reaction to LWJ dying because in so many AUs its mostly LWJ grieving WWX and I just want one where WWX is the one grieving aSDASD

less a prompt, more just a query from someone you’ve managed to get hooked on tam lin...who’s your dream cast for the lush film adaptation we all deserve? and if there was a tam lin film what else would be on your wishlist for it to include?
They’re…..a little to young for my actual vision of the characters, but I definitely think that in 5 years or so Timothee Chalamet and Shannon Purser would be perfect for Tam Lin and Janet. I am of the decided opinion that Tam Lin should look like a waifish Romantic poet dying of consumption, and even though Child Ballad 39A says that Janet has yellow hair, I’m endeared to the idea of a red-haired Janet—plus, Purser is so so gorgeous, while still looking like she could actually pull a fully-armored knight off the back of a horse.
In terms of a Tam Lin film, I picture it as deliberate collision of two aesthetics—symbolic of the way the story weaves its way between two different worlds. On one hand, the castle of Janet’s father and Janet’s world, loud and rich and mundane and deeply human—if you’ve seen King Arthur: Legend of the Sword’s conception of Londinium, that’s what I’m picturing. On the other hand, there’s Carterhaugh and the Queen’s court, which is ruins and Scottish moors and del Toro-style otherness. Deep shadows and bright silvers, too-red roses that Janet picks….and at least one haunting ball scene, just before the Hunt on Halloween.
I’d also focus significantly on Tam Lin’s relationship with the Fairy Queen—a kind of twisted ownership and poisonous love, if you can call it that—and Janet’s relationship with her father, as a counterpoint. Give Janet friends among her ladies (one of whom tells her about the myth of Carterhaugh) and her father’s knights (one of whom offers to marry her and give her child his name as a way of sparing it the kindness of bastardry.) That way, Tam Lin’s isolation and loneliness stands out.
I’d also take pains to portray a magic that’s—subtle, and natural rather than sparkly. Governed by tiends and words and embedded in the land. That’s the stuff.
….but I also love the idea of a Tam Lin movie in the tenor of The Little Hours, a farcical sex comedy, or even a horror-rescue movie. I think there’s a lot of very cool directions you could take it, as long as you embark with a coherent view of the story you’re trying to tell.
