f1gossip: sources say that oscar piastri was in fort lauderdale between the canadian and brazilian gp. he was most likely there for y/n y/ln's graduation, but we cannot confirm if he attended the ceremony or only the party afterwards. the two know each other through their best friend logan sargeant, and we can confirm that they've only become friends during the miami gp, which is around the same time y/n began soft launching someone she calls a 'friend'

many think her and oscar piastri have started or are starting a relationship, and the belief has been cemented by him attending her graduation party. these pictures look like oscar and y/n going out for dinner with her friends, holding hands at one point, and then hanging out at oscar's hotel afterwards. we cannot confirm or deny that any of these pictures are in fact oscar and y/n as they aren't clear, but they do look similar to them.

Y/N STARED AT THE MCLAREN CAP, unsure if she should wear it. It shouldn't mean anything to the public, just her showing support to one of her new friends. Because to them, that's all Oscar really was. Her friend.

They didn't know about the constant texts, the late night face times, the movie dates while across an ocean from each other. They didn't know about the way her heart would race whenever she saw his text, how he'd make her giggly and blush just by calling her a cute little nickname. They knew nothing.

Besides, she was wearing a Williams Racing shirt in support of Logan. Why should a simple McLaren cap - not even fully papaya colored - mean anything to the public?

"Oh my God, just put the cap on," Logan groaned, making way over and putting it on her head for her.

Y/N rolled her eyes, fixing the cap so it didn't ruin her hair.

"Shut up," she muttered. "I'm just nervous."

"You have no need to be," Logan promised her. "Oscar's going to lose his mind when he sees you in person, turn into a stuttering, stumbling mess, and you're going to be so touched by his awkwardness that you're going fall in love. All in all, it's a win-win situation."

"I don't like you," Y/N rolled her eyes, following Logan out of the hotel and in the car. She had arrived in England a few days ago, but kept a low profile. She missed the first two practices, before deciding to arrive on track for FP3 and quali. She'd also make her way over for the race tomorrow.

The two best friends shared TikToks and reels with each other during the short drive, making their way out of the car and towards the paddock once they arrived. Y/N tried to keep her hands at her sides, away from the McLaren cap on her head. No need to make it obvious. Cameras flashed and recorded videos as her and Logan walked down, making her incredibly nervous.

She felt hot, really hot. And... was she sweating? She resisted the urge to smell.

"You're fine," Logan promised, sensing her inner anxiety. "Nobody's focusing on your cap, they take videos of all the drivers arriving at track. Stop spiraling."

Y/N blinked back to the present at Logan's words, realizing that she was indeed falling into a spiral. It was all going to be okay. Logan was going to be there no matter what.

"Thanks Logie," she smiled. "You're the best."

"Yeah, I know," he nodded to himself.

She rolled her eyes, swatting him in the arm. Arriving outside the Williams' garage, she waved at Alex Albon.

"Hey, Y/N," he jogged over from inside. "How are you? Logan never even told me you're coming."

"I'm great Alex, thanks," she grinned. "And it was a bit of a surprise. I didn't want people to know I was coming here today. I have a job interview in a few days, so I decided why not come early and watch the GP in person."

"Good decision," he laughed. He looked at her cap, "Are you heading inside or heading to McLaren?"

"Uh... I think I'll head over to McLaren," she decided. "I don't want news of my arrival reaching Oscar before I get to surprise him."

Alex raised his brows, before fixing his expression, "Right, you guys finally met at Miami. I take it you became friends, right?"

"Yeah," Y/N nodded, trying not to let her heart eyes show. "I probably should've taken Logan's offer to meet his racing friends years ago. Most of them are pretty cool."

"I hope I'm one of them," Alex joked.

"You're at the top of the list," she winked. "Anyways, I'll catch you guys later on. Don't leave without me Logan."

"Same goes to you," he waved.

Y/N flipped him off, turning to make her way to McLaren garage. She could hear Logan's laughter behind her, making her smile to herself. Who knew when the last time he genuinely laughed on a race weekend even was?

Over the last few months, she'd seen lots of clips of Oscar and Logan hanging out together - more than usual - and usually joining them was Lando. It seemed that the Brit was interested in becoming friends with Logan after Miami, which honestly made her happy.

She arrived outside the McLaren garage, debating if she should head in or wait outside, or maybe just head back to Williams.

Before she could make up her mind, she heard someone make a surprised little noise.

"Y/N?" Lando asked, exiting the garage once he saw her. "You're here? Oscar that little brat, he never even told me you're going to visit."

"That's because he doesn't know," Y/N laughed. "It's a surprise. I kind of insinuated that I wouldn't be able to watch the race at all, but... well, I'm here!"

"Ugh you two are just so absolutely adorable," Lando sighed, slinging an arm over her shoulder. "C'mon, I'll take you to him. He said he's going to talk to his dad, I think."

"His dad's here?" She asked, stopping in her tracks. "Why did no one tell me his dad was going to be here?"

"Quit freaking out," Lando rolled his eyes. "His real dad's not here, I don't think."

"Then who is he — Charles?" Y/N asked. "They're still doing that little bit from Monaco."

Lando pointed to where Oscar was, indeed talking with someone in Ferrari gear. Y/N stood on her tiptoes, recognizing Charles Leclerc and his girlfriend, in the middle of some conversation with Oscar. Leo slept soundly in Alexandra's arms.

"Let's wait for them to finish their conversation," Y/N suggested, feeling bad for coming up to them while they were talking.

"Nope," Lando shook his head, leading her across and closer to Oscar.

"Lando, no, no, no, Lando, I will throw you under one of the cars, no, Lando—"

"Quick, laugh like I said something funny," Lando whispered.

Y/N was so surprised by his request, that she stopped trying to plot his murder.

"Laugh, woman!" Lando muttered.

"Oh, right," Y/N responded.

Trying her best to seem somewhat genuine, she thought of that time Oscar texted her because he walked into a pole. Which made her laugh so hard, she walked into a door.

She giggled at the memory, laughing as the duo approached the others.

Lando, seeing Oscar's head whip over immediately at the sound of her laughter, began giggling too. The two had to stop a few steps away from Oscar, Charles and Alexandra because of how hard they were laughing.

"Did you see— the way he—" Lando couldn't get a sentence out without bursting into another round of laughter.

"Lando, get your shit together," Y/N wiped her eyes, straightening up.

Charles and Alex raised their eyebrows, entirely confused by what was happening a few steps away from them, while Oscar stared at Y/N like she was a mound of gold.

"Okay, okay— never mind, I can't do it," Lando fell into another round of laughter every time he remembered how quickly Oscar looked at her.

"Oh my God," Y/N muttered, sending an apologetic smile towards the trio near them.

She grabbed Lando's arm and dragged him the final few steps, smiling at the small group.

"I'm so sorry about that," she apologized. "Lando here doesn't know how to behave."

At this point, Lando's laughter, which was finally beginning to stop, starting up all over again.

"I'm sorry guys, I'm so sorry," Lando got out. "I'm not laughing at you guys, I promise. I'm laughing at Osc."

"What did I do?" Oscar asked, finally snapping out of whatever trance he'd gone in after hearing Y/N's laughter.

At his question, Lando's laughter came back, this time high pitched and bringing on some tears.

Y/N leaned closer to Oscar, whispering, "Is this normal?"

"Just ignore him," he responded, hoping she couldn't hear his heart beating all over his body. "It'll stop eventually."

"If it doesn't it'll give the rest of us an edge in the race," Charles offered.

"Right, uh Charles, Alexandra, this is Y/N," Oscar introduced them, the group now choosing to ignore Lando as he sat on the floor and laughed some more. "She's uh, a friend of mine, and also Logan's best friend. She usually only comes to Miami, but apparently is here today."

"Surprise!" She grinned.

Oscar smiled, the feeling of her happiness radiating towards him. Maybe he liked surprises a lot more than he realized.

"Logan, uh..."

"Sargeant," Lando supplied to Charles from his spot on the floor, wiping his eyes to clear up some tears. "The one who drives for Williams."

Y/N's smile dipped slightly at the reminder that Charles was another driver who wasn't quite close with Logan. But she brought the smile back immediately, doing her best to be nice.

In fact, it was only because Oscar had his eyes on Y/N the entire time that he noticed the small dip. He didn't know just what it was about, but he remembered her make the same expression when she first met Lando.

"Right, yeah," Charles nodded. "I just wanted to make sure I had the right one. It's nice to meet you, Y/N. I'm Charles, and this is my girlfriend Alex."

"Nice to meet you guys," she smiled again, and it was as if nothing was wrong. She cooed at Leo asleep in Alex's arms, "Aw, cute dog. I've been more of a cat person my whole life, but I love puppies."

"His name's Leo," Alex introduced the dog.

"Oh, he's adorable," she grinned.

"Well, it was nice to meet you Y/N," Charles nodded in her direction. "We've got to go now, but hopefully we'll see you later on. Bye Lando, bye son."

"Bye dad," Oscar laughed.

"Bye," Lando waved at them.

Once they were gone, Y/N looked back at Oscar, only to see him already looking at her.

"Hi," she smiled.

"Hey," he breathed out.

"Oi, you two are being too lovey dovey in front of the cameras," Lando warned them. "Go to the motorhome or something."

Y/N rolled her eyes, but he wasn't wrong. There were much more cameras around McLaren than Williams, and people would be dissecting Y/N and Oscar's every move. Considering they weren't even dating, she wanted to keep the secret for a little while longer.

"Right, uh... you wanna come along, Y/N?" Oscar asked her.

"Sure, I'm not due back at Williams until the end of the day," she shrugged. "I got to return my paddock pass then. Coming, Lando?"

"No thank you," he shook his head. "I like my spot on the floor, and I'd rather not accidentally be a cockblock."

"Lando, we're not going to have sex in Oscar's motorhome," Y/N rolled her eyes.

"We're not?" Oscar asked, a joking glint in his eyes.

"Take me out on a date first, then we'll see," she responded in the same tone, turning towards the motorhome and making her way there.

"Hey, I already asked," he reminded her, catching up. "It's up to you to decide when you're cashing in the rain check."

Y/N tilted her head at him, a small smile making its way to her face. "Tell you what, you win the race tomorrow, I'll go on a date with you the next day."

Oscar smirked, "Well, I have to win the race now."

"Nice to know where your motivation factor lies."

The two arrived outside the room, and Oscar opened the door for her.

"What a gentleman," Y/N grinned to herself, entering the small space.

She took a seat on the bed, while Oscar sat in the chair by the desk.

"Are you okay?" Oscar asked once it was just the two of them, no cameras, no Lando, no one else.

"What do you mean?" Y/N asked. "I'm fine."

"You're not fine, there's something bothering you," Oscar noted. "Or it did bother you at one point. When you were talking to Charles and Alex, you frowned at the start of the conversation. Right after I'd introduced you to them. Like, as if you were upset by something they said or did, I don't know."

Y/N frowned again at the reminder of that interaction, before shaking her head quickly to clear her thoughts.

"Nothing, I mean... like it's not a big deal," she tried to explain. "It's just this weird thing about me."

"You know you can trust me with anything, right?"

"I know, Oscar," she sighed. "It's just... it's complicated, I guess."

"If you want to talk about it, I've got time," he responded.

Y/N stared at him, remembering how she thought she hated him just a few months ago. She saw him as an egotistic prick, who'd left her best friend in the dust after stealing him from her. And here he was now... telling her he'd listen to her if she wanted him to.

"I didn't like you for a long time," she confessed.

At Oscar's hurt look, she continued quickly.

"Wait, no, that didn't come out the way I wanted," she closed her eyes. "I mean, like when we were kids, a long, long time ago. Because, for our entire lives, it'd been Logan and I. We did everything together, always. And then he got serious with racing, and he made other friends. Which was fine by me, because I'd always been his best friend. The only one who managed to come close to my position in Logan's eyes, was you. You were the one who'd managed to be one of his closest friends, because of racing, and you were the one who was closest to taking my place. And... well I was jealous. Which was why I often ran away after Logan's races, never stopped to meet you or talk with you, or any of the other drivers.

"And, you know, the years passed, and Logan and I remained close, and the jealousy faded, but then, I don't know. I guess I was embarrassed to talk to you, because I'd been jealous for so long. And then you both went into F1, and I told myself I'd be happy for both of you... but I wasn't, really. You just— I mean, you came into F1, and the love for you was immediate. The fans, your team, the other drivers. They all loved you, and they wanted to talk to you. And Logan... Logan got stuck with a shitty car and a shitty team, and none of the drivers even wanted to talk to him."

She took a deep breath, continuing, "and I know it's not your fault, but I love Logan, okay? Like I'd quite literally give up my life for him, and seeing him constantly in a place where he wasn't being treated fairly, where he wasn't happy.... it hurts. He's here because he loves racing, but every time people talk shit about him or act like he didn't put in so much work to be here, it makes me upset. I was... I don't know, envious of you on behalf of Logan, if that makes sense. And so I kind of ignored you during F1 as well. But then I began talking to you, and that first time I heard you speak, stumbling over your words, I think that's when I realized you were human. Just like Logan. You didn't choose it to be this way and you can't help it. And you know, a lot of times I can forget most of the people out there have never acknowledged Logan, because he's asked me to forget it so many times, but then they remind me that they haven't... and it hurts, Oscar. It hurts to see that. So you know, I'm sorry for judging you before ever even meeting you. That was stupid of me."

Oscar stared at her for a moment, feeling sick at her words. He'd never had someone who he was that close with, not outside of his family. He couldn't even imagine what went through her head every time she saw him, or the other drivers. He didn't blame her for her feelings, she had every right to hate anyone out there.

"Oscar?" she began hesitantly. "Are you... are you alright?"

He got up from his chair, standing in front of her and pulling her close. She immediately wrapped her arms around his waist, melting into his hug.

"I'm sorry," he whispered. "I'm sorry that I let it happen."

"Oscar, it's not your fault," she said, her voice muffled by his embrace. "I realize that now, and it's something Logan's always known. He's never blamed you, I don't either. It's just the way life works."

"It's not great," Oscar commented.

"Nah, not really," she agreed. "But it won't stay like this forever."

She wouldn't let it.

f1gossip: well it's officially been confirmed by oscar piastri and y/n y/ln that they are dating and have been together for at least the summer. it's unclear when they began dating, but we can assume it was after the miami grand prix, where it is believed that they met for the first time.

y/n y/ln is the childhood best friend of logan sargeant, and has took to social media multiple times to defend him. she has completed law school, and we believe she works in england, which is where oscar is located at the moment. for more information on y/n y/ln and the timeline of her and oscar piastri's relationship, check the link in our bio

☂️ It's perfect because in the 2010s in Britian on the CBBC (its like the british version of the American CBS kids) they would play this song during the summer holiday when they showed the adverts (this was wayyy before streaming) so now whenever I hear this song I'm transported to my childhood summer - a type of freedom none of us will get to experience again. Which links to Squidgames because they try and recreate a sense of childhood with all the childish games.

Even without all that, the song alone is just French kiss, every time I listen to it, I feel both a sense of relief, like a weight has been lifted, but also a semse of drive like im running towards a new beginning but also, I feel like I'm running away from something, like a dark past.

I had no idea that song had such significance! Thank you for letting me know, that's really awesome. We've got a few songs like that here in Canada, but Dog days isn't one of them. I love the part you said at the end - and that is precisely the reason I added that song to the playlist. Let's dig in:

I think this song relates so perfectly to Gi-hun based on the chorus. Specifically, the repetition of "run": "run fast for your mother / run fast for your father / run for your children, for your sisters and brothers." To me, this relates to Gi-hun's continued fight against the Front Man and his system. He fights for his family, for his friends, for everybody. The quick repetition of the word "run" also relates to his relentless race against In-ho and the system, his never-ending battle. It represents the pace that he needs to keep up, but also the fear of falling behind. No matter what, he has to keep running, keep fighting.

In the perspective of the fic (and season 2), Gi-hun has pushed away all affection and care (both from In-ho and from Jung-bae). He cannot bear to be comforted or to feel anything remotely positive because the war he has to win is so incredibly important. So, he pushes down every feeling, every desire, everything, because nothing matters except ending the games and fighting the system that took so much from him.

ANYWAYS that is how I think the fic relates to this song! Quite a dreary connection now that I think about it, I like your reading of the song better haha!

(Au: Omegaverse. Miles and Hobie went through a break up before having their first child)

Hobie got up the steps knowing that he's late, he knows he needs to come on time. He knows it. Work had held him up, so now he has to find a way to schedule his work hours with his schedule for his child. With a simple knock at the door, the door quickly spun open revealing his ex-partner.

Miles stood with one hand on his hip with a disapproval frown on his face, those big doe like eyes still get Hobie's heart going even after all these years. "You're late."

"I know. I know. Work held me back... Umm, where's Riri?" He finally asked, he didn't want to talk about his tardiness.

"Hobie, we agreed on this schedule because you said it works for you." Miles said in a serious tone, then sighs, "Look I get your trying to make a good living, but talk to your boss about your hours because I'm not-" Hobie quickly cut him off, "I know. I will. Just work being busy. Now, where's my-" Then Miles' bubbly husband came by the doorway, "Is that Hobie?"

"Yes, bae. It's Hobie." Miles said to his Alpha.

A buff Indian American Alpha with a thick clean cut beard pop behind his Omega with a big smile on his face, "Hobie, my dude! What is up!"

"Hey, Pav." Hobie gave him a simple hello, it's not like they're close friends. Pavitr always been a friendly person.

"Hahaha, so you're late, do you know that? Riri is waiting for you in the living room." This time Pavitr's said in a semi-bubbly tone with a bit of serious expression. "You know, you can't be late. I don't care if you're late or not, because I get to spend time with my little princess, but this is more important to Riri than me and Miles."

"I know! I know! Look, I'm trying. I'll talk to my boss, anyway can I have my kid?" He really wants to get out of there.

Miles sighs, "Riri, papa is here!"

"Alright!" Riri a four year old girl that has both resemblance of her parents, she happily carried a Disney Princess backpack filled with her fun activities for the weekend. Her hair in a beautiful bread with colorful pink beads, and cute princess shirt with mint pants and light up shoes. Her heterochromia eyes gleams, "Hi, papa!" She rushes over to hug him.

"Hey, lovely. Come here and give your papa a hug." He picks her up to kiss her forehead, "You been good?"

"Yeah, daddy and appa said we'll go to Disney World for the summer if I'm super good at daycare!" She happily said.

"Oh, is that right?" The punker glances at Miles, he didn't know about that nor did he agree his daughter going on a trip. What about his custody to her?

Miles crosses his arms, "We're talking about it, Hobs."

"Yeah, don't worry, bud. You're welcome to come, bring your wife too!" Pavitr happily said, "and ya'll son, Manny."

"Easy, bae. We were just talking about it." Miles pointed out.

Riri frowns, "But you guys promise me, I wanna go to Disney world!"

"We'll talk about it later, love." Hobie said, "Right now, you'll enjoy the weeknd with me, and Mindy and your little brother Manny."

"Manny just sleep, poo and eat." Riri tilted her head being confused, she only watches the baby being snug with his mom.

"Because he's a baby, lovely." Hobie said to his kid.

"I guess." She had that Hobie Brown honesty. "He just lays there and fart."

Pavitr giggles, "Princess, don't be mean. He's your little brother. You need to be a big sister to him."

"Hehe, okay appa." Riri kisses her stepdad on the cheek giving him a hug.

Miles smiles at the two before turning to find his ex-boyfriend rolling his eyes at Pavitr. This pissed the twenty nine year old because not many Alphas would want to be with a 'touched' Omega, especially one with a strong Alpha descendants. Pavitr being the most sweetest understanding Alpha had love Riri like it was his own. So seeing his ex-boyfriend disapproval his husband is pissing him off.

"Anyway, we'll best be going. Say goodbye, lovely." Hobie said.

"Bye bye daddy, appa!" She waves at them.

"Bye, mi vida." Miles went to kiss his daughter's cheek. "Be good to mama Mindy and your little brother."

"Okay!" Riri nodded.

Hobie began walking off having his daughter in his arms, they headed to the bus. The ride to his place wasn't far, only about twenty minutes depending on traffic. Always that fucking New York traffic.

When he got home, his wife, Mindy already gave a bottle to their son Manny. The baby burps before sitting on the couch with a baby pillow to support his back while watching Sesame Streets.

Mindy turns to find her husband coming in, "Hello, Riri. How's it going, sweetie?"

"Good. A bit exhausting." Her dad set her down so she can start putting her jacket and boots away. It was a semi-cold day, with a bit of breeze.

Hobie chuckles, "I'm the one that carry you most of the way."

"But I have to sit on the bus, papa." She giggles being in her casual outfit and rushes with her backpack to the living room, "Hi, Manny!"

Manny looks at her then made grunting sounds. "Is he pooping?" She asked.

Mindy giggles, "Maybe. He just had his lunch." She went over to pick up her son, "Oh who's a stinky baby? You are. You are." Her Omega scent smelled like gentle sweetness of milk and honey. It's a scent Hobie loves from his wife. Sadly, and he would never tell her the real reason why he loves her scent, because it reminds him so much of his ex-partner.

Even though the two ended on a terrible note, he still cares about him, love him still. Their relationship was never on a good time, it always felt like wrong place, wrong timing, nothing seems to go their way. Now, all it's left of them is being coparents to their daughter.

Hobie knew he shouldn't think too much of the past, he knows part of their failed relationship was him not being ready to commit when they needed to. One biggest hint is Riri, when Miles got pregnant, the punker didn't want a baby or the marriage life. His band at the time was being popular, slowly starting up.

Miles wanted them to be serious, which was too fast at the time. Not to mention, they were on and off from a previous fight about so many things.

In the end, Hobie and his band didn't get famous in the way they hope, thus the end of being a rockstar. And the break up with Miles, too. So, he's a producer making music for anyone, that's how he met Mindy with her beautiful gospel voice.

When Riri was born, Hobie came to see her and fallen for her. Miles had hope for him to commit, but he couldn't forgive Miles for saying petty shit from their break up. It was best to leave it as it is. Petty fights, petty custody battles were filled with hurt and pain from their break up.

He wanted to break up....

The punker wanted to wait or express his freedom a bit more. Somehow they were able to maintain their feelings at bay, slowly being more friends for their daughter.

Riri began coloring as she watches Sesame Streets, "Papa, daddy doesn't like you, huh?"

"What makes you say that?" Hobie asked.

"I dunno. You two always look at each other weird... like mad."

"Nah, it's just sometimes papa isn't following what daddy says and it's my fault."

"Did you love daddy before?"

"One point I was, but we're good friends." He arched his eyebrows, "Why did ya ask?"

"I dunno. it's hard to believe since mama Mindy is so sweet and you love her a lot. You hold her hand, kiss her cheek- and with daddy, you two fight a lot."

"Yeah, we always did." Hobie sat on the couch, "Believe it or not, we never fought like that."

"Oh?"

"Yeah, we use to sing, dance, have fun. Now, your daddy is all about being mean and strict rules. Don't tell him, I said that."

"I won't." She giggles.

"Did you ever wish for us-" Riri shook her head, "Nope. You two always look sad together and that makes me sad. I like it when you two are happy."

"I see." Even his baby girl sees that the two weren't meant to be. They weren't off on a good note. "Well, one thing we know is that me and your daddy love you so much. We'll always try to make you happy."

"Hehe, I love you, too, papa."

Normally the weekend is Riri enjoying fun times with her papa like going to the park with the family, eating pizza, and watch movies. Sometimes they play fashion outfits or she's in her own world talking to Manny. The baby boy can only listen to Riri's stories about Spider-man or barbies.

When she return home, she saw her daddy waiting out the door of their home with one hand on his hip. Miles welcomes her back.

"How was it, honey?" Miles asked.

"Good. Super fun. Manny gets scared of his own farts." She giggles.

"Haha, that is funny." Miles let his daughter go off to her room with her things. "And I need to talk to you." He said to his ex-partner.

"Oh yeah? What am I getting blamed for this time?" The punker sarcastically asked with a snort.

His ex glares at him, they step outside of the front door, Miles shut it. "Why are you always pissed off at me?"

"What?"

"You got annoyed with Pav for being sweet to Ri!"

"Pfft, be for real, Miles. That was Friday! Let it go."

"No, because you always get annoyed with my husband! I never treat Mindy that way."

"Okay, you wanna know why, so bad?" Hobie threw his hands in the air, "You and him are making plans without telling me. Disney World? Over the summer? I wanted to take her to London to know where I come from and you basically run that mouth off saying no, she's too young or she's not ready or you don't think I'm responsible."

"This is Disneyland, and we were just talking about it."

"No! Don't give that shit. Pav basically made a promise with Ri so now ya'll obligated to do it."

"Look, Pav was trying to teach her that being-" Hobie cut him off, "No, don't give me that. It's always something so innocent but when I pull the same shit, you bitch at me."

"Excuse me," Miles scowls, "What da fuck you think your talking to? You better tone that mouth of yours, you asshole."

"Admit it, Miles. You hate I'm being your baby daddy. Your other have full custody of her."

"No! I know, you never been a responsible man! You always run off. I don't trust you taking her to London!"

"It'll be me with my wife and son!" In the fact moment Miles gave a look of anger flash in him, it seems like he was jealous almost disbelief to find Hobie married with a child. It's true, how can the punker be so quick to marry Mindy when he denies marriage with him.

"Maybe I do, but I know you ain't shit."

"Oh fuck off. I'm telling you now, Miles. You and Pav better not take her to Disney World until you let me take her to London. You can go low, I can go lower."

"You really going to upset her, because I said no to London?"

"You always hated that I'm here. I care about my daughter, and want to give her trips."

Miles inhale sharply, "You don't respect me or Riri's time. You were supposed to pick her up on a certain but you're always late. You never taken her to the doctor, or changed her diaper-"

Hobie looks at his ex in disbelief, "Because you deny me access to my own kid, because you wanted to be petty. I was there when she was born and you still buggin'. Man, fuck this. I'ma talk to my lawyer about minimal contact from you when I pick Riri up."

"Ugh, fine. Do it." Miles fumes seeing his ex-partner walking off. The twenty nine year old went back in his house being upset. "Shit." He sighs. Why do they always fight so much? He just wanted Hobie to respect Pavitr.

Riri came by to find Miles wiping his own tears, "You okay, daddy?"

"Yes, baby. I'm fine. Just mad at your papa, right now."

"Oh, nothing new then." She began walking off to get her sippy cup from the fridge.

Miles gave a small chuckle, "Heh, yeah. Same ole' same ole..." He knows this isn't healthy for his daughter to see, yet she seems to be unbothered by it. She is exactly like Hobie, her attitude towards everything is very chill and her bluntness had a certain humor to it. "So, how was Mindy?"

"Good. She and papa were singing a pretty song and Manny tries to sing, too." Riri sips her sippy cup. "Daddy, why you don't like papa?"

"What? what makes you say that, sweetheart?" Miles stood awkwardly almost in shock with his baby.

"Well... you guys always fight and I asked papa why, too."

"What did he say?" He arched his eyebrows.

"He said it wasn't always like that... he said he did love you."

Miles' bites his bottom lip, "He did?"

"Yeah. I thought it was weird because you two always fight."

"I'm sorry, honey. I know we shouldn't fight. Me and papa have a lot of stuff we still haven't got over." Miles kneel down to hug his daughter, "You know, we love you so much, right?"

"I know."

"And what me and papa had... was nice for a bit. I did love him, too. We weren't compatible."

"What's compatible?"

"It's like two jigsaw puzzle that doesn't fit together. You can force it but it would never fit perfectly. That's me and your papa."

"Ohhh." She said.

"I'll try to be nicer for you. I don't want you to see us fight or get any ideas about me hating your father." Miles did love Hobie, maybe that's why he's so mad with him. So many things he wanted from his ex-boyfriend that never happened. In the end, he end up doing all the things he wanted from to someone else. To another Omega, and that hurt him like an old wound being ripped open.

Now, Miles have to admit he did rush things too fast or expect his ex to be a traditional Alpha too fast. When he got pregnant with Riri, he gave Hobie an Ultimatum which never works out. So much anger, so many petty revenge to hurt Hobie... was it worth it in the end?

Now, they're two exhausted grown men trying to coparent their daughter. Their beautiful perfect daughter, Miles has no regrets to wanting her. He will never apologize for that. He's pretty happy to have a child with his ex-boyfriend, it's at least their Riri is a good outcome from their broken relationship.

"Okay, daddy. Can I got play with my dolls, now?"

"Sure, sweeter. Go and plat." He watches his baby girl running to the living room to play. This time he took out his smartphone to text Hobie, taking a moment to think about what to say.

Miles: Hey, you can take her to London, but I'ma need to know everything like time, dates, places and who's going...

-few seconds-

Miles: Sorry for being mad at you, but understand that Pavitr makes me and Riri happy.

Hobie: I understand.

Hobie: Thanks

Hobie: I'm sorry for saying shit... I think we need to go to therapy, I don't want to say the wrong shit and hurt you and Ri.

Miles: Same. We need to make this work without the fights.

Hobie: I agree.

Miles nodded at this. "This is a good start."

I absolutely second that! I'm Australian but (for reasons not relevant here) spent upper primary school living in Western Europe attending an USAmerican international school. My mother was haunted by the idea that me and my siblings weren't learning the Australian-specific humanities content we'd have gotten if we'd been back home, and as part of an effort to correct that bought us some books that basically had a Horrible Histories-esque tone.

I mostly read and re-read the first book in the series, and I can't remember date range but it basically started with pre-invasion* European contact and went through to I think federation. My recollection is these books didn't really unpack the First Nations' perspective, like they still were very much positioned primarily as sympathetic to people who had been transported. (Which does mean they were pretty ACAB lol.)

But the fact that they left in parts like massacres, enslavement, genocide of Indigenous Tasmanians, James Cook being Like That, etc., ended up being HUGE for me. Like, I'm a historiography** girl, I know there's no "neutral" approach to reporting history, but the barest facts prima facie are just Not Good. In particular I remember this part that was just like "Terra Nulius was plainly bullshit, because like... There Was Guys There. You kept having to kill them, so they're clearly there???? European understandings of land ownership be damned."

Anyway, I say this was Huge for me bc it turns out when I reintegrated into Australian schooling I was coming in way hotter and more anti-colonial than everyone else. Also I was so so bad at naming people who undertook mapping expeditions. So I ended up being slightly behind anyway because I didn't know anything post-federation and retained Zero names of white boys who died trying to find the inland ocean.

Like I'm not even trying to claim I was a Woke Bae in class (I was 11yo and I wanted the authority approval so bad lol), or that I'm a flawless ally to Indigenous people now, or even that my peers were all completely ignorant. It's just literally my whole perspective was founded on the idea that cruelty to Indigenous people was if not a feature then an inevitable byproduct of colonialism, and this was Probably Bad Actually. And I didn't realise that for most of my peers and even many teachers weren't starting from that same premise.

And this always fascinated me because my mother didn't set out to give me a Woke History Book. (I think I literally ended up with those books bc, as I say, they had a very HH vibe and I LOVED HH.) It also, more importantly... really stands in contrast to the sanitized American history I learned in school.

(*they used the term "settlement" or if they were feeling spicy "colonisation", which is fairly standard for books ostensibly aimed at white kids. In the academic environment in which I operate**, however, we tend to use "invasion" because even if the Brits brought a prisoner labour force to then colonise with doesn't make it not a military action.)

(**Australian theatre historiography, not history history, so I won't unilaterally claim language we use is current best practice)

That’s what happens when you’re seated directly behind Jisoo, the South Korean pop star who rose to fame as part of the K-pop band Blackpink, and whose masterful social media engagement has landed her a lucrative Dior beauty deal, where she appears in cosmetics and perfume ads.As Jisoo and other K-pop avatars like Rose and Jennie beam their cute (but not too cute) and flirty (but not too flirty) style to American audiences on social media, K-beauty brands have a similar hold on US shoppers. In 2024, South Korea’s Ministry of Food and Drug Safety reported that K-beauty products hit an export value over $10 billion — a record high for brands like Laneige and Innisfree. K-beauty is known for its adorable packaging (see: Tonymoly’s squeal-inducing cherry gloss) and serious skincare formulas, even in cosmetics. Famously, Dr. Jart’s BB Cream sparked demand for tinted moisturisers when it first hit American Sephora stores in 2011; the “glass skin” trend of the late 2010s had similar Seoul mates. But though face toners and lip balms are well-loved in the K-beauty space, K-hair hasn’t quite hit the American consumer yet, even though Jisoo’s hair was an enviable amount of shiny and swishy, at least when I was inches away from it.Walmart is thinking that can change. On March 3, they will stock about 400 stores with Perseve, a Korean-made hair line by 28-year-old Olivia Bae and her mother, Hyeri Sung, a working hairstylist who patented her own organic keratin treatment. The offerings include shampoo, conditioner, deep conditioner, and a hair masque. Each costs under $12. “We know the ‘skinification’ of hair is already a big thing,” says Bae, who first launched Perseve in 2022, then joined Ulta Beauty’s 2023 accelerator programme to fine-tune her products and messaging. “People are talking about scalp care like they talked about skincare. By making our products in South Korea, we can take advantage of technology and formulas in a new way.” Perseve’s formulas include ingredients like royal jelly, açaí and amber — common callouts on luxury skincare labels, but rarer in hair care, especially at a big-box price point. “We can keep the costs down because we’re partners with our manufacturer in Korea,” explained Bae. Does Bae think the allure of K-beauty can translate to the hair aisle? “It’s funny, because as a Korean American, I saw all the lip gloss and the face masks come over and I was like, ‘Wait, that’s just the stuff my mom uses!’ You never think your own family is cool.” But K-beauty is cool, both with hardcore skincare fans and with teens who trade obscure lip gloss brands the way Y2K hipsters traded Bloc Party songs. “I see girls obsessed with Korean products. They’ll look at every single thing in a specialty Asian beauty store, including haircare, which is typically more expensive. So I was actually really excited to get into Walmart,” she explained. “Like most kids from immigrant families, I really only shopped for beauty stuff at the drugstore. Bringing Korean hair care there means everyone can get it.” Even if you’re not a famous K-pop star.What Else Is NewSkincareOn Feb. 6, Eucerin dropped Advanced Hydration, a facial sunscreen with SPF 50 that promises ultra-light protection with a lot of moisture. It’s $15.Sunnee BAEskin is a “marine-powered” self-tanning collection by Isabel Alysa, who also founded DIY tan brand Dolce Glow and bronzes the bodies of Kim Kardashian, Miley Cyrus and Haul of Fame avatar Alix Earle. Her new range hit Ulta.com on Feb. 9 with five formulas, including a spray, mousse, facial mist, and “targeted bronzing” tube to help contour your face (and abs!) with a tan. Prices range from $16 to $30.Typology’s C10 Lipid-Enriched Cleansing Bar hit stores on Feb. 10 and swaps bubbly ingredients like glycerine for calendula, shea butter and almond oil for gentle body washing. The bar is $19.50, which is actually less than I imagined a Typology shower product would cost. We love a simple product name! Deinde’s Line-Smoothing Eye Cream is $46, hit shelves on Feb. 10, and says it’s clinically tested to smooth the lines around your eyes with peptides and naringenin, a grapefruit extract with anti-inflammatory properties. Lemme has teamed up with Barry’s, the eponymous bootcamp gym, to launch a “Lemme Tone” smoothie on Feb. 11 with coconut water, ginger, and L-Carnitine. Mt. Sinai doctors say that antioxidants might help those with heart angina, although “the evidence is lacking” that it can help normal people keep fit. Mt. Sinai doctors are pretty stoked on fresh fruit as a health booster, though, and this smoothie is loaded. Elemis announced a partnership with Aston Martin’s Aramco Formula 1 team on Feb. 12 to “unite luxury skincare with high performance.” We might need a message massage here, since high performance is already the table stakes of luxury skincare. Still, it’s interesting to see beauty rolling into the racing scene, even if we’re not sure about the ROI yet. Murad’s Superactive sunscreens launched Feb. 13 in four formulas — brightening, moisturising, mattifying, and age-defying. Each has SPF 50 but only the youth-boosting one has a “sun-friendly bio-retinoid,” which might be why, at $59, it’s the most expensive of the quartet. MakeupThrive Causemetics launched Sheer Strength, a $26 tinted matte lip balm, on Feb. 6. The product comes in six shades, including a pale pink called Dr. Elizabeth that’s named for the esteemed breast cancer scientist Dr. Elizabeth Comen. On Feb. 10, Nudestix introduced two new shades of its Nudies makeup sticks, which have a colour balm on one end and a blush brush on the other. The shades were developed with makeup artist Kevin Kodra and cost $35 each. This feels high to me, but apparently price isn’t a deterrent — the brand says it sells a Nudies stick every minute, and our own intrepid editor Brennan Kilbane swears by them. Charlotte Tilbury debuted six new eyeshadow compacts on Feb. 11. They’re called the “Palettes of Beautifying Eye Trends,” which is a real mouthful, but the product itself is quite gorgeous. Each $60 compact contains nine shades each, and when you line them all up together, they look like a rainbow colour wheel from art class. Lipsmackers dropped a Hello Kitty jelly blush on Feb. 11. It’s a blatant Milk Makeup Jelly Tint rip-off but it’s $5 and has the best cartoon character in the world (sorry, Bluey) stamped all over the tube. Prepare to see your baby cousin trying to spread it everywhere. Colourpop’s Pretty Fresh Tinted Foundation Balm hit Target on Feb. 13, with 18 shades and a creamy, buildable finish. I’ve tried it; it’s easy and especially good for midday touch-ups. Laura Mercier’s matte tinted moisturiser rolled out on Feb. 14. It has French rose clay and some added aura thanks to Bella Hadid, who posted a TikTok video using the brand’s setting power earlier in the week. A Special Breakout Gloss SectionKylie Cosmetics teamed with See’s Candies on Feb. 6 for the launch of Toasted Marshmallow Lip Butter; they made a lip-shaped box of Scotchmallow chocolates to celebrate the release. Both the candy and the makeup are already sold out.Make Up Forever introduced its first-ever lip gloss, Super Boost Moisturizing + Plumping Gloss, on Feb. 7 at Sephora. It’s $26 and comes in 11 shades — but the pinky-purple shimmer one called Festival Lilac is already sold out.Laneige dropped Glaze Craze, a “tinted lip serum,” on Feb. 11. It comes in four gourmand-y shades like Cinnamon Sugar (mauve pink) and Chocolate Frosting (mauve brown) and costs $22. On Feb. 12, Lavaa’s $26 Lip Drip Oils debuted in clear, pink, red, mauve, holographic glaze and gold.Kulfi’s Lassi Lips launched three new colours — Fig, Guava, Sweet — on Feb. 13. The $24 lip-staining oils were made as an homage to Mah-Ze-Dahr, the New York bakery with dream-worthy doughnuts. And finally, tomorrow The Lip Bar drops its Volumizing Lip Plumper, a shimmery $15 tube of glossy goodness available in pearl and mocha shades.Hair CareNaturelab Tokyo debuted its Kiseki Molecular Repair Mizu hair oil on Feb. 11. It has milk thistle and squalene to serve as a cuticle seal, and doubles as a hair perfume with “notes of hinoki wood, sacred incense and iris root.” Trippy — and $32.Augustinus Bader has teamed with La Bonne Brosse on a $178 hairbrush called “The Miracle.” Rendered in AB’s signature cobalt blue, it’s meant to create “smoother, shinier hair” along with envy among everyone snooping in your upstairs bathroom.Not to be outdone, Versace introduced a Black Medusa ‘95 hair comb for $375 on Ssense that feels so decadent, you might be able to barter it for a Positano yacht ride. FragranceArmani Beauty unveiled its My Way Ylang fragrance on Feb. 6 with mango and coconut water accords to “evoke a feeling of uplifting optimism.” I thought optimism was, by nature, uplifting, but maybe that’s just my Lexapro talking?Welcome to New York, U Beauty! The makeup label’s first-ever pop-up store is open in SoHo through Feb 9, and to celebrate, the brand rolled out its first-ever fragrance, a cool-girl floral whiff of magnolia, rose and pistachio called Proem by nose Jérôme Epinette, on Feb. 7.House of Bō released its new scent, Ave Maria, on Feb. 7 with “cashmere” as a top note. This is a pretty brilliant tie-in to the quiet luxury trend, and I wonder if more fragrance labels will follow suit.Fenty’s first hair and body mist launched Feb. 11 with Bulgarian rose, musk, tangerine, and magnolia. It’s $53 and “meant to create an unforgettable scent trail.” Sounds kinky.Moroccanoil’s signature product has such a distinctive, lovely fragrance. On Feb. 13, the haircare brand was finally inspired to launch an official scent, Moroccanoil L’Originale. It’s $130 and has notes of lemon and violet. And FinallyThe lipstick index might be dead, but actual lipstick is having a fun fashion comeback thanks to acclaimed New York designer Joseph Altuzarra and emerging talent Tyler McGillivary, who both used lipstick prints on their Fall 2025 catwalk collections.
