Goro, I don't understand. Why are you rejecting this reality? You could have the life you ever wanted! Without being in the shadow of your father, with your mother still by your side! With my powers, I can make the perfect world for you!

Instantly his heart plummets straight into his stomach. He feels sick as he wills his lungs to pull breath back into them. Maruki hadn't earned the right to call Goro by his given name as if they were friends. The farce of a psychiatrist didn't even know what he was talking about in relation to Shido. He didn't know the extent of the pain Goro went through to claw himself to where he is now. Not that it did him any good in the end, but who the hell was Maruki to think he was the one to decide? And worst of all–––

"Leave her out of this." The words punch themselves from his throat, all venom and coiled like a snake ready to strike. By now his hands are clenched into painful fists as his whole body shakes. And if Maruki thinks it's anything of pure elation at the idea of bringing his dead mother back then he's horrifically mistaken. It takes everything to not lunge at Maruki with his hands poised at his throat. The only thing stopping him is that Joker and his motley band of idiots would be upset, and so he refrains as he bites down hard at the inside of his cheek. The metallic tang of his own blood is grounding.

"Nothing you could do would ever make the world perfect. You'll die trying before that ever happens." He snarls as he tilts his chin up in defiance. "I refuse to become a doll for you to push your disgusting ideals onto. And just because you can make a puppet with my mother's face doesn't mean she'll ever be my mother. You don't know a damn thing about what would make me happy, and you certainly don't know her wishes. I won't let you put her through suffering again just so you can get off to it."

Like a vicious wolf, he bares his fangs. "I don't give a damn what promises I've made. I won't hesitate to kill you where you stand if you even continue to think about disturbing the one place she's finally found peace."

"How's your food blog coming along? Is it doing okay online?". One thing that Akira is curious about and actually glad that Goro has a hobby like that.

"My blog?" Confusion laces his tone as he casts a look in Kurusu's direction. Out of all of the things that could possibly be asked and he's asking about Goro's personal food blog? It's unexpected, and what's more is that Kurusu seems to show genuine curiosity. And Goro hates how he feels a little bit of excitement and pride burst in his chest that someone cared enough about his little hobby to ask. Especially from Kurusu when it was such a far cry from their usual interactions.

Such things would usually spark an ember of annoyance. Instead, eagerness readily takes its place and makes a home in his words.

"It's not doing quite as well as it used to. The engagement is down, but it's only natural after upkeep stopped due to my...disappearance." Not that he was surprised, but it still stung. The mask he donned was plastered all over it, but it was a hobby Goro actually enjoyed. A little genuine piece of himself that the public could bear witness to. And just like Goro, it had been all but forgotten.

At the very least it was entertaining to watch those who knew of the former Detective Prince get defensive, saying that it wasn't Goro who was running the blog. It was an easy assumption to make. He hadn't posted his face since the return, sticking to simple yet aesthetically pleasing photos to post alongside his more brutally honest reviews. And then there were those who were unaware of who Goro was. The number of them was small but they had quickly become a loyal following, appreciative of Goro's blunt critiques.

"I've been able to gather a smaller audience since my return. Not enough to make it as popular as it once was, but I–––" He cuts himself off, turning his head to the side as a bit of embarrassment colors his cheeks. "I find this to be more preferable. It prompts a discussion that is far more valuable than rabid teenagers fawning over someone who never truly existed."

A sharp smirk settles on his face. "I get to be as critical as I like and no one seems to bat an eye. I consider that a victory."

I love your post about the origin of Goro’s toy gun! Though tbh when I played P5 for the first time, I thought “oh the detective prince doesn’t know about Iwai’s shop. he just picked up whatever was at Toys R Us and it worked”

|| AHHHHH thank you!!! That is a pretty funny thought.

On a serious note though, it doesn't really surprise me that Goro's gun is a toy. I don't think he ever states it in vanilla P5, but he does mention in Royal that he used to play with them when he was little. And in 'Proof of Justice' it's similarly mentioned, and Joker even searches for what that phrase is supposed to mean only to reach the conclusion of it being a toy ray gun before immediately envisioning Goro as a child.

Goro always wanted to be a hero, and that toy perfectly encapsulates his meaning of justice and what it symbolizes to him. I also feel like it's a hint that deep down, through all his anger and hatred, he's still very much a child. He didn't get a chance to just be a kid. He was forced to grow up quickly because of his circumstances, and meeting Shido only perpetuated that problem for him. But he makes it very clear that he's held onto this idea of wanting to be the hero all of his life. I don't think it's necessarily childish for him to think this way, but I think that for all of his bravado and cockiness it shows that in the end he's still very much a kid. That despite maturing mentally and physically he's still lacking a lot in emotional maturity. His perception is very black and white, one or the other, when it's not purely fact based.

His justice is heavily rooted into wanting to be a hero from his childhood. And I feel like that's really represented in the fact that his gun is a toy and that his sword is basically a lightsaber.

He had always considered himself to be quite good at reading people. It was a skill he had studied and honed long before he donned the disgustingly sweet visage that the public foolishly ate up. Every response he gave was always carefully calculated in order to keep the audience right in the palm of his hand. Being anything less than absolute perfection in the act he played was unacceptable. Which is why his inability to parse Kurusu's true responses by body language alone was just another tick to the long list of reasons to hate the other.

But it didn't take some genius introspection to identify dislike towards himself. After all, Kurusu wasn't the first and he certainly wasn't going to be the last. Hatred from others accompanied Goro like an old, stubborn friend as it appeared in the eyes of everyone that looked at him.

"Is that so? I never would have guessed." It comes out flat as he takes a sip of his still too-hot coffee. The burn it gave his tongue was oddly comforting in the midst of this most unsurprising revelation. Well, at least the frizzy-haired idiot was honest.

"It's good to know that the feeling was mutual. You would've made for a boring debate partner if it wasn't."

"How'd you sleep today, Goro?" He's smilling but there's something different behind those blue eyes, a hidden motive.

There's something about the way that Teddie's watching him that Goro doesn't like. He likes the question that he's asked even less. Sleep for him was always a fickle thing. The only constant about it was just how inconsistent it was. At one point, despite his best attempts to hide it, Sae had expressed concern over his wellbeing and chastised his sleeping habits by saying he worked too much. It was a hypocritical concern on her part, and at the time he said as much. She huffed her defeat under her breath and elected to say no more on the matter.

Perhaps he should be more concerned, but he refused to seek out help from a professional. He didn't need some stranger to know his habits, and he certainly didn't need them to waste his time listening to them tell him what was wrong with him as if he isn't already aware.

It's childish, but part of him wonders if he pretended he didn't hear Teddie that he'll drop the subject. But from experience he knows that the bear won't go down quietly when he cares about someone. He's still not sure why Teddie cares about him of all people, but he puts a pin in that thought for later.

"It was adequate." He shrugs his shoulders and casts his gaze away to the book in his hands. It wasn't a complete lie. He's slept better than he has in the last week. Even if that was only by twenty minutes or so. That's a victory in its own right even if he did wake up from a nightmare once more.

Then to cast the topic off of himself, "how did you sleep?"

I am new to tumblr and stumbled onto yours while indulging in my brain rot over Joker/Crow which has deeply embedded itself into my being. I've been starving for new content and ended up here.

Anyhow, joking aside, I wanted to tell you how much I like all the stylization you've done to your page- it's absolutely gorgeous! You really seem to have captured the feel of Goro Akechi incredibly well. I'm impressed!

I have been dying to roleplay with someone or even just find someone to exchange writing prompts with. It's a difficult find due to the seemingly small ship for these two. But as I am completely new here and you don't know me, I understand if that's too much. No worries.

          How could Amamiya possibly promise to always care? It wasn’t the first time someone’s told him that they cared. But all the same, they left him. They treated him like dirt under their heel and cast him aside. His mother, his many foster parents, and even his fans proclaimed some form of eternal care that none could ever fully provide. So what made Amamiya so different than them?

          The sincerity of his words, no matter how genuine they sounded, must be false.

           He even curses his traitorous heart for pounding against his ribs at the statement. The need to be loved and acknowledged weighs like a bomb in his chest. And these words that certainly were far too good to be true threatened to detonate it.

          “If that’s the case, you’re an even bigger fool than I thought.” Arms fold across his chest ––– an attempt to rebuild the cage around his heart. “I don’t want your pity or your platitudes by making promises that you can’t keep.”

I know you might have touched base on this before but what type of game genre on a console or PC that Goro might enjoy? ( a random hc question ).

For the most part, Goro enjoys slice of life/crafting/easy survival styled games. Like think Animal Crossing, Minecraft, Stardew Valley, Terraria, etc. It might seem a bit strange considering how competitive Goro can be. From time to time he does enjoy some faster paced multiplayer games, think like battle royale style, or games he can enjoy with someone else. But he finds he has a higher chance of getting angry and just overall being in a relatively foul mood while playing those. He loves competition, but he was told video games are supposed to be relaxing. So if they’re not to unwind then what’s the point? It’s nice to have something besides reading to calm down with especially if his mind is spiraling.

He’s not much of an RPG or JRPG player unless he’s playing it with someone else. He does enjoy and appreciate the story that some of those style games have, but overall he finds a lot of sidequest tasks really distracting from the main plot of the game. So unless it truly benefits the story in some way he doesn’t see the point.

But, in true Goro fashion, he loves retro superhero games. They’re cheesy and ridiculous, but it allows him to experience the childhood he didn’t get to have. (Especially retro Featherman games? Move over he’s taking that controller or bitching about the inaccuracies from the series).

Overall, it’s easier for him to play more cozy style games so he doesn’t threaten to break his PC’s monitor or smash his gaming controller through the nearest window. (Not that he’d intentionally break something, but he has thrown controllers before.)

Sorry this one is later than usual, but here's positivity anon wanting to wish you a very happy weekend! Did you get to do anything fun during the week or is there something this weekend that you're looking forward to? Finally, try to do something nice for yourself!
